Steve moves on

To Honey Boo-Boo?

The ubiquitous pizza-loving "manager"/booby guard who once never left Kate's side, has been MIA for awhile now. He has suddenly popped up again in recent months both with TLC's Honey Boo Boo and with the Little Couple. File this under #Hahahahhahaha.

With Honey Boo Boo and company:

Vine

On Jen Arnold's trip to China to adopt her son. Does China have pizza? Hope so:

Any word from Robery Hoffman on the re-release of his Gosselin Book? Gimmie the book! (As they said on Twitter.)

I'm also interested in his book on Jon. Hopefully he'll wait until after Jon takes the DWTS mirror ball trophy in Season 17, so he can include it. Tee-hee. There are a few websites out there, in support of Jon taking the dance floor. I would personally love to see it.

As Pamela Gosselin once said to Jon, during her ex-daughter-in-law's stint... "You can teach a person to dance, but you can't teach someone rhythm!"

My Facebook friends load my page with scrumptious looking easy recipes. I could not possibly try all of them. (I did recently make the hash brown/egg muffin for guests. Success!)

Those FB recommendations led me to the Just a Pinch site.

I don't know why I would want to purchase a cookbook. There is so much available on line.

Since TLC dumped her, Kate seems to be one step behind at all times.

4444444444444444444

The ONLY time I buy a cookbook anymore is as a gift for a young person (male or female) who is setting up new housekeeping for the first time. Although I recently bought several at a garage sale for a young couple who lost everything in a house fire. I agree, everything you could possibly need is free online now. My favs are Fix It and Forget It; and The Country Cook. If I buy a DT cookbook, it will be one of theirs.

Saw yesterday, while on my way to the bank, a mom and 7 kids, the kids ranged in age 1 to about 8. The mom had the 2 youngest in the wagon, and the rest walked together, around her and the wagon holding hands. They walked probably about 1-2 blocks to the intersection, crossed 2 busy streets(they were a 1/2 block in front of me) and went into Family Dollar. This mom had no help, just her and 7 very obedient children. Considering they crossed 2 busy streets, with no help. So what is Kate excuse for not taking all 8 out at the same time, with out any help, her kids are 9 & 12. This mom kids were 1-8. Like Kate said last year, can't take them to see a movie, or go on a trip with out at least 2 helpers, or go to the store, with more than 3 at a time. Jon has no problem taking all 8 out. Lazy much Kate? or does Kate still think of them as babies(littles). Kate lives in the past, posting old pics of the kids, making them watch old glories of past events. Who does that? And we do know what kates kids are doing all summer: sleeping in, pool and relaxing, and grifting for a vacation. A whole lot of nothing. Kate is a bragger.

I just ordered her book. There are 108 recipes. If admin allows, I'm going to cook 9 recipes a month (9x12=108) and report back here on:

A) taste
B) appearance
C) Whether my kids liked it or not
D) my overall grade

Any other criteria you'd like me to add? I could put in a section that would show how I would improve upon it, if needed.

You're a brave woman, Silimom. How about approximate cost for the dish/meal? Or break it down to cost per serving? That would be interesting to know, since KK claims to be so thrifty. It'll be interesting to see how many times your family demands you call in an order for pizza after seeing/smelling one of her recipes, LOL.

Lol, geez proofread much? That would be *Robert Hoffman. Make it so! (I always wanted to say that.)

I think it's absolutely despicable to see Kate go on Twitter, year after year like this. She's practically begging for a TV camera crew and free beach trip, every summer now.

What ever happened to the Gosselin "Rite of Passage"? (So funny she chose that phrase, BTW.) Kate said it was their new tradition and rite of passage, to visit Discovery Cove- Florida every year. Another one time tradition... squashed. The kids must think the word tradition means 'never going to happen again' by now.

This. Is. Brilliant. I'm one of those types that goes through old cookbooks just to make the weirdest recipes I can find (such as the infamousfamous pastel-iced "sandwich loaf"- http://www.mentalfloss.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/sandwich-loaf.jpg ) and I have no doubt in my mind that this is going to be a REAL treat.

Well, in a metaphorical sense, anyway. Dearie me, I may just have to screech in delight!

Kg and PJ, you are helping me to remember.

I tuned in part way through the first season. I saw a "cute" family learning how to handle an abundance of adorable children.

Then a feeling of discomfort seeped in as I watched. A vague sense of something dysfunctional was reviving memories from my own life.

During subsequent seasons, I was a voyeur watching with a "I can't believe this" squint.

Kate's boldness grew. Her disregard for her husband and her children's welfare became more evident.
*****
Very good description. That's pretty much what happened for me as well. I was at first drawn in because the babies were very cute. Jon and Kate seemed fairly normal, even if she was a little too shrill for me, a little too concerned with cleaning her floor rather than spending time with her babies.

But her true nature couldn't stay hidden for long. I began to disagree more and more with her parenting choices, and I absolutely hated when she would yell at Jon in public, or put him down. I am 100% against that in any marriage - to me that is completely disrespectful. I would never take that kind of treatment from my husband, and it's not cute just because it's the wife doing the abusing instead.

But of course, the real outrage came when she was so cruel and uncaring to her own children.

There's also a difference between taking on different personalities and trying to act like you are several different people, versus just messing around with your screen name and changing it around occasionally or even frequently. IMO a "sock" actively pretends to be different, separate people with their own personality. Just choosing another screen name is just that, choosing a different name.

All of those posts chasing names had the exact same tone. As someone else explained everyone was picking a name to suit the situation, it was a joke. There was never any intention I saw to pretend that all those names were different people.

Oh, ZeldaZee, you're my kind of gal! That picture of the sandwich loaf looks exactly like the one my dear mother used to make for the New Year's Eve party. (Eeechhh!!!) (Although she did spiked it with a LOT of rum, just to make it her own, I guess. Or kill the awfull taste, I'm not sure, come to think of it.)

That woman was french-canadian and she knew how to cook witih fresh herbs, homemade stocks, could master very tricky sauces, etc. But something happened to her in the sixties: she started cooking these strange recipes. Like "instant cake": cut the crust off an unsliced loaf of white bread, cut the white part into big cubes, soak them in sweetened condensed mlik, roll them in coconut flakes, and bake at 350F for 15 minutes. And voilà: instant cake!

For a while, I swear, us kids thought our mother's body had been taken over by aliens. But, phew... It only lasted for a few years. Then the aliens left her and she went back to cooking edible food.

We've had one or maybe a few people here who have presented distinct, different life stories. However due to writing styles, maybe some inconsistencies, and other red flags, people have suggested they might be the same person. I don't bring this up to debate that issue again, however, that is what a sock is. You create entire personalities and actively present a rouse that they are separate people. A sock is deceptive. Changing your name (but not your persona) just willy nillie for fun, is not.

I think we should have one group make a recipe non-organic, and the other the same recipe only organic, and then see if the non-organic people get kooties or keel over dead.

According to an internet definition, a sockpuppet is

1: A fake personality, usually a 'friend' or 'sister,' created by a drama queen/king for the sake of defending him/herself against others in an online forum.

2: Someone who might be an actual person but behaves like the above, defending someone who really deserves no defense.

Why is BV reporting that the person had over 500 sock accounts, if they weren't sock accounts?

Oh, never mind.

He just took the guy on and said you know what I think this letter is wrong and extortion and the court may not agree with me but I have to just try.

Hats off to those who at least TRY. Those who blah blah around talking about all the wonderful things they are GOING to do, bore me.

So? Do you believe the rights of the scum and pigs shouldn't be protected? That as long as you are a scum and a pig, you can extort them, threaten them, treat them like dirt?

I happen to think their rights are just as important as the innocent. There was no reason that letter was necessary. If people don't stand for what's right even when the person may be guilty, don't expect anyone to stand up for you when you're innocent either.

Our laws are supposed to protect the rights of all people, guilty and innocent.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Huh? I didn't say Mike was innocent. Our values are fundamentally different. I think our system DEPENDS on trying to be fair, even if we fall short. Never said Mike is salt of the earth. I don't even know that much about him. I said he was extorted. Marty Singer has a terrible reputation himself. Mike did get one victory out of the case, as it was reversed in part and upheld in part. His wiretapping and computer hacking claims are free to go forward. Marty lost big time on that one. Although the extortion was the aspect of the case that is the most interesting, Marty got slammed on those other issues. It was sort of a splitting the baby case, which sometimes happens.

Agree to disagree and go form your lynch mob. :)

It's but a small example, but the innocent do get wrongly accused. If that cop gave me a ticket, I want my rights protected. I don't want to be written off as just another person on their cell phone who's going to kill someone who is not deserving of their day in court.

Two words: Michael Morton.

Texas case. He had no criminal record, a good job and was busy being a good father and husband when an intruder murdered his wife. He served 25 years, and his relationship with his son was all but trashed. DNA at last cleared him and pinned another man for it.

He didn't get a fair trial. Prosecutors deliberately withheld information that his little son had told his grandmother that a monster killed his mom, he saw the whole thing, and daddy wasn't home. MICHAEL'S LAWYERS WERE NEVER TOLD THIS. Maybe because the prosecutor thought he was scum and didn't deserve to know that or deserve a fair trial? He was accused, tried, and sentenced by his killer. It was decided by his killer he was scum. You just said if you've decided that someone is scum then they don't deserve the same rights as innocent people. You made this in reference to someone who hasn't even been charged with anything. This is just a civil suit! Seems T's killer decided the same harsh judgment for that young man and therefore the young man lost his rights and life. Think about the double standard here and how scary your thought process is if everyone followed it. RIP.

So agree. I've used my first name, for a number of years. Sometimes I used No Worry, Beef Curry as a joke- when defending Jon. He wore that T-shirt with a pooka-shell necklace, after the 2nd Hawaii wedding. I want that shirt, he can keep the Ed Hardys.

And it was decided by the vast majority he was a 'killer'. Hang him high, I say. And, by the way, I'm 1/2 African American.

Interesting said...

The vast majority didn't listen to more than two sentences of that trial or they would understand the results. If it were the other way around and T. killed Z. in the altercation, shall we hang T high? Or does T get a fair trial? You seem to be saying that only people you choose get a chance at a fair trial, those you've decided are scum don't have a right to such things. I think everyone gets their shot and sometimes you won't like the results. Go ahead sing it from the rooftops how upset you are, you aren't the first. It still doesn't change one's right to a fair legal system.

Here's just one from March 2011, Moose Mania:
"Let's not forget that background checks were not required for anyone, e.g., the crew, who followed the kids around everywhere, and even were in the bathroom filming the kids without an adult present."

It was not because it wasn't funny, or others were assuming different identities- really. I think the idea of Silimom taking one for the team is wonderful. I think it is going to be a hoot making the food, analyzing it like the judges on CHOPPED, lol, talking about it and looking at the pictures. I can't wait for that!

I actually made the hummus and posted about it around Easter (with a picture). None of the ingreadents she listed on her web site are organic. Although it wasn't spit out of your mouth bad, it also wasn't to my taste. It needed more spice to it. It was a bit to lemony so I added a little more EVOO and salt to balance out the lemon. No one liked it so I ended up throwing it out. I'll stick with the Sabra supremely spicy hummus.

On her website she's got a picture of herself with one of the boys (Collin I assume) with a chip with hummus on it. The cutting board pictured has onion, tomato, etc. on it but nothing that is used in the recipe. When I get a cookbook I want to see a picture of the finished product. Her cookbook is going to be a picture book of her kids with some recipes thrown in. I'd be interested to know if she's gone back in and added the word organic to the canned products that she seems to love to use.

PW will surely sell more books than Kate but I doubt even she is going on some word wide tour. If I recall in the past she'll hit half a dozen U.S. cities for a book and be done with it.

I think most books like these nowadays are just supplements to the brand. They aren't her main source of income, which is probably advertising on the site and the Food Network show. It's just sort of something celebs are expected to do as part of marketing. Sort of one of those everyone has a book or several and it's odd if you don't. She has so many recipes for free on the PW site probably only the really big fans want the book. It's a vanity project.

Unless you're a Tina Faye who really hits it big with a book and stays on the best seller list for months, it's just a little side thing to do as part of the brand, no different than setting up a twitter account or web site.

I'm almost embarrassed for Kate the way the fans are acting like this is going to be some earth shattering event. It won't be.

Sorry someone had to take one for the team, but this is outstanding. And, wonder of wonders, we may even find a few recipes that are worth it.

We don't know that all of her food is gross because nobody has tasted it. Silimom offered to give an honest review of the food, which is commendable...no pre-judging, offering snarks or "yuck" comments without even tasting the recipes. I seriously doubt if the purchase of one book is going to put enough money in Kate's hands to get a manicure. Of course, who knows if the book is even going to be published?

Speaking of feeding hungry children, my heart just sank when I read about the 21 children in India who died from tainted food served during their feed-the-kids lunch program, with many more hospitalized. You send your child off to school, thinking that he/she is going to have a good day, a nice hot lunch, and the child never returns.

From the bunny ears to the RAW cookie dough on the cover to incongruent ingredients not related to the featured recipe, all of this mishegas should have been vetted out.

I disagree. Her recent exploitation of her kids for money should just be ignored. To not do so only serves to keep her (and this blog!) relevant. I would not contribute to her exploits...unlike watching her on TV this one involves my hard-earned money going to her. Nope...she is not worth it.

Tucker, I original assumed this was a production problem with a low budget crew working on this. However then Kate made some comment that she's been doing this for years and they know to trust her! As if photographers, stylists, book editors and the like also haven't been doing this for years?? Huh?? This is her first cookbook. I have to assume at least someone on production has done more than one cookbook and knows more than her.

I have a stinking suspicion Kate may have been the one to put out the onions and tomatoes because this will make a great photo! When someone gently pointed out that her hummus doesn't contain those ingredients, I can see her gently telling them to shove it. At a certain point, the photographer realizes she gets paid no matter what, and probably gives up on her.

Milo keeps asking for pictures of Kate (I guess she needs a new supply for her bedroom walls). Now she wants a You Tube channel. My question is...WHY? What is it about Kate (and the children) that is so fascinating that these fans must see what she is doing every minute of every day? I'd really like to know the fascination behind all of this.

Why does Milo keep pestering about it? She obviously has absolutely no concern for respecting the privacy of these children and thinks that Kate owes this to the fans as a payback for their support. Exploitation of these children is fine for the fans, as long as it serves as a means to fulfill their Kate addiction.

This is just not normal, and one would think that as a parent (if she indeed is one), Milo, as well as other fans, should know this and respect this.

I find this to be hyperbole.
If someone buys Kate's book with THEIR OWN disposable income, who are you to say it's wrong? It's innocuous at best and will in NO WAY change Kate's life. We're talking about a woman who has grifted hundreds of thousands of dollars in a mind bogglingly short period of time and you think ONE book, bought for shits giggles, is going to in any way add to Kate's posh life?
For the entertainment value alone, it's a great investment of a few bucks.

My sister self-published a cookbook back in the 80's. Her husband took the cover photo and a local book-binder company put it together. She worked the phones, went to church bazaars, flee-markets and did her own publicity through her hometown newspaper and radio stations. In other words, she hustled and worked hard.

She lived in the country on a farm and would call me after going to her mailbox at the end of her driveway. She'd say, "The mailbox was FULL of envelopes with cheques for my cookbook". She would then sit at her kitchen table and send them all out the next day. She did this with 3 children under the age of 6.

If Kate's cookbook does not generate enough pre-sale interest, could she not self-publish as my sister did? After all, she claims this cookbook is all about her love of cooking for her children. Based on that alone, she should follow through for their sake shouldn't she?

I know we are talking about Kate here, but this would be the perfect opportunity to show her kids how hard work nets results. It may not be a big payday with Amazon doing the work, but her beloved cookbook would see the light of day locally at least. Or, this will just be another flame-out to add to an ever growing list of big plans with no follow through?

George Zimmerman. Everyone has an opinion. Mine is that the jury did the right thing based on the law. We have to follow the law in order to allow fair trials for everyone. The prosecutors in this case should be sanctioned at the least. Politics does not belong in our court of law. It undermines our whole system.

As far as making Kate's recipes? I, myself, don't have the time or the inclination to waste money on either buying her cookbook or buying the ingredients to make her awful recipes. If you are so inclined, that is your perogative. But what a colossal waste of time and money. IMO. Finding him guilty of at least manslaughter would not have meant that they did not follow the law just because you wouldn't have agreed with the verdict. I disagree with their decision, but that doesn't mean that I think they had some reckless disregard for the law. It means that they chose to believe a man who instigated the situation by following the kid and who I happen to think was lying through his teeth.

The prosecution should be sanctioned? For what?

The defense painted a dead, unarmed teenager as a thug. Talk about political -- they were playing up the stereotype of the dangerous African American male. I happen to find that despicable, but not deserving of a court sanction.

Load the kids up in the Mercedes and go to the Jersey shore! Oh, maybe that's too mediocre for Kate.
How hard is it?
What Kate doesn't seem to get that she's just providing evidence that the kids get to do nothing if cameras aren't rolling and that they are that spoiled to think that lavish trips happen all the time.
Most families get maybe one vacation a year, many get none and they're several tax brackets below Kate.
Yet, she's back to grifting for a beach vacation per usual each and every summer.

Second, what does it say to you that your dog doesn't want to hang with you and 8 kids? To me, this means to dog is not properly socialized. Does it even occur to Kate to purposefully limit the dog's time outdoors given a fricking heat wave?

Tomatoes I am so sorry for your loss. We rescued our dog last year and while he chews everything in sight, I couldn't imagine life without him.

My purpose in buying the book was to allow me to make my own judgements on Kate's cooking based on personal experience. If it comes out, it will be discussed here and I prefer to give it a fair assessment and not just write it off because I'm not a Kate fan.

I also felt that it would be interesting to let everyone here know how my experiment was going. Admin has been very supportive and I think it will be great to have others cook and weigh in on her recipes as well.

It will be a nice counter balance to the fans who will rave about her recipes no matter what and who will complain that people here are nitpicking them without even trying them.

As for supporting Kate, I didn't feel a $17 cookbook was going to add significantly to her bottom line. She probably made what? $1.70 from that sale? That won't even buy her a drink at Starbucks. Sorry if you disagree, that is your prerogative. I get where you're coming from and respect your feelings.

Marie - no I won't throw the food away. My family and I will eat it and I will give you an honest assessment.

This has more to do with me then anything to do with Kate. I feel it is important to treat people fairly, even Kate Gosselin. I choose to spend my time on a blog that discusses her along with other non-Kate topics. If her cookbook is published, I want to be able to participate in an informed discussion about her cooking abilities. The only way I feel I can do that is to actually cook her food and I need her cookbook to do that.

You can disagree with me, you can think I'm an idiot for doing it and wasting my money. That is fine. It's what I feel is the right thing to do and I'm doing it.

So she got smart and started keeping them in the freezer. Do you know how yummy a frozen Ho Ho is? Finally she got serious and put consequences in place if I snacked on the lunch Ho Ho's. I decided they weren't as tasty as I had thought!

I think I've created a monster here at my house. I bought my GSD some freeze dried turkey livers, and now she's always pestering me for one! If she goes outside, she thinks she needs one when she comes in. If I go outside, she thinks she needs one when I come in. If the cat goes outside - you guessed it! Oh! The cat came in! I am okay with having someone here buy Kate's cookbook. The fans predicted that the "haters" would all be buying the book, making it a huge success for Kate, just so we could pick it apart and criticize. Wrong! We can have one person buy the book, give honest reviews of the recipes--and we can join in and give our own opinions. No need to line Kate's pocket or help her get on a bestseller's list. One book isn't going to do much for her.

I totally support this. I have a funny feeling that the recipes will be pretty mediocreish, but there will probably be a few good ones in there. I think I cold eyeball the recipe to tell whether it will be good or not. For instance, Kate's wrap called for 1 tsp. of feta, which is a huge laugh.
Actually, just for fun, I'm watching Mama June's cooking videos on YouTube and holy cholesterol and HFCS Batman!
I've heard tell about June's "sketti", but it's not just an urban myth. 3 sticks of butter and a bottle of ketchup get heated in the microwave.
That family wouldn't know a fresh vegetable is it bit them on the ass.
I have to say though, the videos are pure entertainment.
I wonder why TLC didn't produce cooking videos for Kate?

I see that BV is continuing to post IPs and photos of the "haters" on Twitter. I'd really like to know the purpose of this. Is there a valid explanation for what will be accomplished by doing this? How will posting a photo stop the Hatfields and McCoys? RWA was shut down, but some still continue to tweet, regardless if their identities were revealed.

How is "outing" anyone by posting photos going to stop this battle between the two factions? It's still going as strong as ever; perhaps even more so.

Twitter won't give the IP addresses out. That would be illegal. I think that he is getting IP addresses from Kate's website. Kate probably has a tracker on her website. He could also be getting them from sheeple who post pictures and the haters click on the pictures and the IP addresses are recorded.

IMO Bullyville made this far worse for Kate. Not only did he bring all his sewer rat friends to Kate's timeline, once your picture & name are out there, what's next, what do you have to lose? I keep thinking about Nancy Grace and Trenton Duckett's mother, and the "Vodka Mom" case. They were poked and prodded on the show, committed suicide, and Nancy ended up being sued.

With the internet, you just never know how fragile a person is, or their emotional state of mind if they are outed and humiliated, especially if that person is guilty of nothing more than expressing an opinion.

It's against Twitter policy to post any identifying information on people. Numerous complaints have been filed with links to the outings, it's just taking time. BV is not above the law & he's certainly not above Twitter. It's just harder to get someone suspended who has lots of followers because they don't fit into the algorithms Twitter uses to suspend people. This has to be done personally by Twitter staff, but it's coming.

"SAVANNAH, Ga. — A New York man pleaded not guilty in federal court Tuesday to charges of trying to extort embattled celebrity cook Paula Deen.

Court documents show Thomas George Paculis of Newfield, N.Y., appeared in Chatham County Superior Court to enter his not guilty plea.

An indictment filed July 10 in U.S. District Court in Savannah charges Paculis with trying to extort $200,000 from Deen in exchange for keeping quiet about allegedly damaging remarks she had made in the past. Details on what Deen's alleged remarks were, and the relationship between Paculis and Deen, were unclear.

A complaint said Paculis initially tried extorting $250,000 from Deen but eventually lowered the amount after a discussion via email with one of Deen's attorneys, Greg Hodges.

Hodges and Paculis eventually spoke by phone. Paculis said he didn't want to leave a paper trail and at the direction of the FBI, Hodges negotiated the amount to $200,000. Paculis told Hodges he was house sitting in New York, didn't have a car and didn't know how he was going to collect the money, the complaint says.

Federal agents arrested the man in early July.

A message left with Paculis' court-appointed attorney on Tuesday afternoon wasn't returned.

The attempted extortion case took form after Deen's culinary empire began crumbling in response to her acknowledgement in a deposition that she had used racial slurs in the past.

The deposition was part of a civil lawsuit filed in 2012 by Lisa Jackson, a former manager of Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, which Deen co-owns with her brother, Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleged that she was sexually harassed and worked in an environment rife with racial slurs and innuendo."

Wouldn't you think that if you were trying to extort money from someone, and had agreed on $200,000, you'd find a way to meet and pick up the money? Bus? Cab? Rent a car? Bicycle? Skateboard? Walk?

Milo whines about being teased, humiliated, and tormented over being a Kate fan, and yet she won't stop these postings. It's like an obsession. She knows she will be laughed at, but yet keeps doing it. Why does she even need Twitter? I did notice that PW frequently takes the kids with her on trips. It's probably easier since they're home schooled. One of the girls in particular seems to really love it. Her daughter seems to be in the stage of a big city like NY is exciting and full of wonder. It's kinda cute.

She seems to really want her family to experience the perks of celebrity. And to some extent her fans as well. Although it's not everyone's cup of tea, she will do posts on interesting hotel rooms she's been in or restaurants she visits. I don't get the sense she's doing it to show off. She genuinely wants people to feel included. I understand some people feel it's an act but to me that's sort of beside the point, as act or not, the posts are usually compelling to those into that kind of behind the scenes thing. When she doesn't take her family she usually talks about how much she misses them. In terms of using blogs and social media to engage, there seems to be a real lack of understanding about what is compelling for Kate. You'd never see a fun lighthearted post about an interesting restaurant or hotel or some other fun thing on her travels. In fact usually she is dead silent on her trips. DEAD SILENT.
