Steve moves on

To Honey Boo-Boo?

The ubiquitous pizza-loving "manager"/booby guard who once never left Kate's side, has been MIA for awhile now. He has suddenly popped up again in recent months both with TLC's Honey Boo Boo and with the Little Couple. File this under #Hahahahhahaha.

With Honey Boo Boo and company:

Vine

On Jen Arnold's trip to China to adopt her son. Does China have pizza? Hope so:

There has always been this bickering between the sheeple and haters as long as Kate has had her twitter I don't read blogs, but I would believe that it went on there as well. However, since Kate grabbed BV by the horns and allegedly told him to take down the haters, things have really turned nasty on Twitter. It has escalated so much since the two of them became buddy-buddy. Can't she see this...that her association with BV has turned her Twitter into a nasty battleground, or does she pretend it doesn't exist as she blocks the haters and tells the fans to join in the #superfun?

Well, you're very sweet. Thank you! It's nice to have a place to put a few cohesive thoughts together and have people understand the concepts you're trying to convey. As for the sheep people? No...I don't think collectively they could spell astute, never mind absorb a concept that didn't involve deifying Kate Gosselin.

I'm curious though. Does anyone else feel as I do, that the real "star" of the whole Kate thing was the marriage - the young couple struggling to cope with all the babies? I really liked the show then, and I could relate to it in some ways. As soon as Jon was gone and she went all plastic and Hollywood and expensive cars, trips, beauty treatments and attitude, she lost her market. And now the babies are just like anyone else's ordinary "kids". And the cheese stands alone... Stinking with the filth she's brought into her world. Silly cheese.

So the person who was "outed" the other night is now being tweeted with obscenities and is being bullied? Wouldn't one solution be to get off Twitter, unless Twitter has become an addiction and both sheeple and haters just love the fight.

I personally believe Kate sees every vulgar, crude tweet on her Twitter timeline, blocked hater or not. We know she sees BV, his cohorts, MissGoody2shoes. And never a word of reprimand, or a request to keep it clean. Recently she said one of her twins was chastising her for using hashtags that were too long. That would make me think they hang over her shoulder peeping in on this vomitous mess. No, I don't think she blocks a thing or minds what's going on there at all. I think she gets off on it. She's comfortable with the filth because that's who she is and what she relates to. She's known by the company she keeps, you might say.

Thanks Dmasy. It's something I've always thought. To me, it was the premise for the whole show. Whether she conspired to have all those babies, or had secret desires to be famous, is really irrelevant. What TLC bought, in my opinion, was the struggle of the young couple with 8 babies. Since Kate actually is a nasty witch it seems (we know she cannot act), Jon's passive, henpecked husband was the perfect foil for her nastiness. Having her act out with Sarah Palin or a store clerk somewhere as a single mom just doesn't cut it. It was the FAMILY people were interested in. Not a fame-hungry nobody from Pennsylvania taking expensive trips. At least, that's how I always saw it.

PJ's momma said...

KG - that's a thought provoking question. I guess, indirectly, it WAS about the marriage for me too. I always saw Jon as an abuse victim. Kate reminds me so much of my mom. I never wanted kids because of the way I was raised. My dad and Jon were different and no WAY would my mom treat my dad like that in private, much less with a camera rolling. But she did treat us like that and was physically abusive too. I saw Jon's downcast eyes week after week as she put him down nonstop. I felt ashamed for watching because I knew what those eyes meant. I kept watching to see if he'd ever challenge her, or best, case, punch her in the throat like she deserved. Instead, he got out and I was happy for him, but feared for the kids. My dad left us and I know what happened to us. I do understand why he went hog wild after the separation, after being emotionally shackled for so long. But I was disappointed because it left the kids to receive all the wrath. I do believe he loves his kids and wants to do what's best for him and I respect him for that. He's been painted as the villain and he will pay for that for a long, long time.

Kate's behavior just got worse and worse and yet I kept watching, hoping for someone, anyone, to say or do something to her. The river raft guy did and the Palins did after she was gone, as did Jamie/Ashley, but she just kept getting away with being the rudest person ever filmed and now here she is, unemployable. She needs therapy, lots of it, and I mean that in the kindest way possible. She cannot be happy with the way things are, despite the platitudes she spouts. I feel sorry for her in a way, but even sorrier for her 8 little minions/monkeymakers. We could turn the channel, but they live it.

100% agree the draw was the couple. This is the proverbial case of Kate cutting off her nose to spite her face. She wanted Jon GONE. It's sheer stupidity to not consider the "value" he was to her and the show. Had she simply tried to work things out with Jon she might have kept the show going longer and likely made more money.

Forgive the comparison but it was a Lucy and Ricky thing. The draw was the two of them playing off each other. Alone, while both immensely talented of course, they became just another talented face in the crowd. They just weren't as interesting. Lucy too tried to go out on her own after they split and it just never was the same. This is but one of many examples of great couples in entertainment. If the draw is based on the unique dynamic between the two of them, it probably won't work when they split.

PJ, I watched it too. For awhile. There were even some very sweet moments in that family at times back then. But then there was nothing sweet about it. She started going off without her husband, her husband rebelled, and it was over. She believed, I guess, that she was the draw. The star. But that hasn't proven to be true. Admin, you're right too - and this is LUCY we're talking about.

And now look what she's done to herself. Vulgarity. Obscenity. Thugs. Lawsuits. Tweeting about the everyday moments that happen in every mother's life as though hers are somehow special. It just isn't true.

And so the cheese stands alone, as I said. Surrounded by the disgusting filth she voluntarily and enthusiastically brought into her life and the lives of her kids.

A partner often provides good balance. She's lost another person to bounce ideas off of. For instance a good husband might say honey I'm not sure it's a good idea you align with that. They help you see things from another perspective and vice versa.

Kg and PJ, you are helping me to remember.

I tuned in part way through the first season. I saw a "cute" family learning how to handle an abundance of adorable children.

Then a feeling of discomfort seeped in as I watched. A vague sense of something dysfunctional was reviving memories from my own life.

During subsequent seasons, I was a voyeur watching with a "I can't believe this" squint.

Kate's boldness grew. Her disregard for her husband and her children's welfare became more evident.

I stopped watching after the divorce announcement. I knew I didn't want to contribute to the decline of a family. This show wasn't an enlightening documentary, it was exploitation. Jon was emotionally dead and would become powerless. Kate was glowing with anger and hatred. Her rampage would do nothing to protect the children.

I tuned off and out.

After finding this site, I did watch key episodes -- NY visit, Alaska, the RV episode and a few other clips.

As KG said, Kate grew more "plastic" and entitled. Her disdain for anything that wasn't fun for Kate was just too rude to watch. I disliked her intensely. Kate served a conduit to some negative childhood experiences and memories.

This blog has introduced me to some wonderful ladies. (Some of us are friends in real life now.) I have learned so many interesting tid bits here.

I thank Kate for those two things, and little else.

I guess Kate's little "tweet party" AKA "push my book" failed. According to novelrank, no books have been sold in the last 21 hrs. Total sold according to novelrank is 255. If she sold as much at B&N, she's reached about 500 books.

Little over 2 months to go--I don't think this is going to end well for Kate.

==========

I can't find the comment now, but someone said the tally wasn't complete without accounting for brick and mortar stores.

Again, just from my experience, Amazon is #1 in sales volume sold. B&N online is a distant second.

I just went to B&N and searched "Love is in the Mix." The Amazon price is $17.26. The B&N price is $17.60, and then B&N adds $3.99 shipping. So Amazon wins. People buying books tend to go for the cheapest and most convenient option generally unless there's a perk (a signed copy, etc.) or a trust of B&N over Amazon. You can see why B&N online sales trail Amazon.

The people who will pre-order from a B&N brick and mortar store are the ones who don't want to key their credit card number online. There's a small but militant group like this (my experience). There's another even smaller group who work near a B&N store or go there regularly and who will ask B&N to order it for them because it's convenient.

The group buying from independent bookstores is smaller still. (Which makes me sad because I love them.)

So all in all, brick and mortar sales are only a fraction of 255 Amazon sales. With Amazon, you get it cheap, fast, no shipping, no sales tax, and delivered to your door. Where will most buy? Like it or not, they win. It's one reason Borders went under and B&N and independent bookstores are struggling.

Kate can rule out book clubs, too, so she's really only looking at independent buyers, which cuts her market considerably. Book clubs will often have a B&N store order for them.

So 255 from Amazon and I'll wager all other sales combined are TOPS another 255. 510 book sales x $1.70 royalty gives you an idea of Kate's take = $867. The sheeple better get busy and order them for everyone they know!

Of course the dynamics of the marriage had everything to do with the show being a hit. And I do believe Kate was aware of this or made aware because she wanted Jon to "pretend" to keep the show going. BUT, Kate could not keep her ego in check and her malicious behavior towards Jon just got worse and worse. I think some of what changed was the producer gave Kate free rein to behave badly because it produced tension. She didn't have to pretend; she was just being her nasty self and loving every minute of it. Her contempt for Jon started leaking out here and there on the show as the seasons progressed and it just snowballed into ugly television. Once Jon left, it was apparent Kate was not appealing to audiences. Her bad behavior could no longer be justified by some as a wife frustrated by her husband.

++++++++++++++++

The whole Twitter controversy is relevant in the whole scheme of things regarding Kate. It's a psychological study into how far fans will go in their involvement in celebrity worship, as well as both the persistence of the fans and non-fans in using a Twitter forum as a battleground. Kate is responsible for maintaining that page, and it speaks volumes about her refusal to end it once and for all. Why she needs the adoration of the fans and allows the back and forth bantering (and yes, vitriol) to continue is just one more aspect of what makes her tick.

Interesting article in HuffPost by Christina Silva. Here's an excerpt:

"People who yell and scream sell because they attract the eyeballs and the eyeballs attract the advertisers," said June Deery, a communications professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and the author of "Consuming Reality: The Commercialization of Factual Entertainment."

TV networks are drawn to the shows because they are relatively inexpensive to produce.

"If it doesn't work, you cancel it after three shows. You haven't lost that much money," said James Wiltz, a licensed psychologist in Indiana who has studied reality TV viewership. "But if you get 10 million viewers, you are making a lot of money and you don't have to pay anybody for it."

But what do viewers get out of it? Why do they love to watch these people misbehave?

For one thing, anything taboo always has a certain seductive quality, said Jim Taylor, a University of San Francisco professor who has studied reality television.

"Our inner baby wants to have a tantrum or go off on somebody else because they hurt our feelings, but typically in our society that type of behavior is not rewarded," he said.

For others, the shows are aspirational.

"People fantasize about fame and fortune," Wiltz said. "It's interesting to see someone else who is just sort of a regular person become famous."

That doesn't mean reality TV is a positive distraction. A growing body of research suggests watching people act like jerks on TV inspires others to be less kind or sympathetic. Call it the Kardashian effect. If TV consistently portrays people as selfish and uncouth, it basically sends the message that such behavior is acceptable and lucrative.

"Reality TV normalizes narcissism," said Audrey Longson, a New Jersey psychiatrist who recently presented research at the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting linking bad behavior and reality TV viewership. "It's alarming."

I think I caught the second documentary, or it was rerunning during their first season. I got a surprising eyeful when I Googled J+K, because I was curious to find out if they were from the Philly area, as I suspected from their accents.
The eyeful was people already smelling 3-day old fish, what with all the free trips, expensive kids clothing and product placements. So, the audience, especially the moms out there, were pretty savvy, picking up on the fact that this big family, with parents crying poor and putting their hands out for financial help, could possibly outfit 8 kids in new Gymboree clothing, take their 8 kids to every zoo and park in PA and even travel to Utah for a luxury ski vacation.
It just didn't add up.
Then, of course, the marriage imploded and Kate didn't even try to hide her animus towards Jon, and it was ugly.
I think for many here, it triggered bad memories and we could see the abuse in ways that others who haven't experienced it (NPD, verbal abuse, emotional abuse) couldn't, so it was sanity affirming to share here.
Forget Kate +8. It was a non starter. The equation became dominated by Kate and her Kate antics. She should have blended into the background and let the kids shine, instead of focusing on becoming PA Barbie, always 2 cm. away from a nip slip, and chasing fame like her life depends on it.
BTW, does anyone else wonder why Barbara Walters isn't auditioning Kate to fill a vacant host spot on The View. 3/5 of the cast is leaving; Barbara, Elisabeth and Joy. Kate's going to be a star, according to Barbara. Someone to watch. One of the 10 most interesting people, right?
Well, if pablum tastes like truffles to you, then yeah.

Very similar experience here, also. I found myself tuning in to some of the later shows, hoping that Kate had come to her senses and not realizing then that she had mental health issues. I'd change channels after 15 minutes or so and was always left with an uneasy feeling that the kids were very unhappy and possibly abused.

A few of the sheeple are intelligent - one says she's a retired attorney. Is it that they realize Kate continues to exploit the children so that she can maintain her current lifestyle or is it more about winning the fans vs. non-fans war?

Bingo and thank you.
Everyone wants to believe that they're a special snowflake these days. The chasm between what younger people think they deserve and how willing they are to sacrifice and work for it just keeps growing.
Tom Brokaw name The Greatest Generation just that for a reason. People know how to roll up their sleeves at just do what had to be done. No one expected fame and riches, especially not for behaving badly.
That was actually something to be ashamed of, not touted.

Me, too. For me it was a little later when they had taken the kids somewhere in the strollers. Jon and the children were engaged in whatever the activity was and, of course, Kate had to put an end to it by demanding that Jon come and place the blankets in the strollers. He began obediently to do so when she stopped him because he was not doing it to her satisfaction. He dropped the blankets and walked away saying to her that she should have done it herself instead of just standing there.

My first reaction was "way to go, Jon" followed immediately by my second reaction "crap, they got me". There was no denying that I had been sucked into their odd little world and that I had an opinion about it. That was when I found GWOP and saw that I was late to the party.

Now I stay here on 15 minutes *mostly lurking)not so much for Gosselin news, but for the community that has been formed by likeminded people with many interesting points of views about pretty much everything.

HA! So they ARE treating it like a self-published book. That's great information, NJGal! And "Never heard of it" too.

Kate could probably arrange some B&N signings, but B&N will order the books specially for the occasion. Whatever they don't sell, they'll likely return to HCI. I hope the sheeple aren't looking for a big table upfront filled with *Love is in the Mix*!

Jane: "A nagging feeling something was off started pretty quickly but wasn't blatantly apparent until several episodes in."

I remember being very puzzled by what I was seeing in the first two documentaries... It seemed to me that her self-proclaimed talent for "organization" was way too complicated and too restrictive to be really functionnal. Too much micro-managing for my taste. Way to much energy spent "busy being busy", if you ask me. And not enough unscheduled time slots to just go with the flow and enjoy these six babies.
Heck, my son was in daycare from the age of six months and I've always seen the daycare workers (The ratio was 1 adult/8 kids, incidentally) ) have more fun with their group of toddlers than I've ever seen Kate have with her own. And, mind you, in a day's work, those daycare workers had to do exactly what Kate always claimed she couldn't do alone, i,e, cooking, serving meals, laundry, cleaning, bathing, etc., etc... Without anything even approching four-hours naps.

And then, I saw the episode comparing the marvelous Cara ("She "gets" me...") to the evil Mady. (The first "regular" episode, I think...) And I became very worried for those kids. I think I kept watching just because I felt that someone, -anybody-, had to keep an eye on the situation. I know it sounds dumb, but there was definitely something to that effect in my fascination for this whole mess.

It seemed excessive and i have to say I was not surprised that Kate make the 6-pack do this whether they needed it or wanted it or not. They were penalized with further confinement in the cribs if they dared crawl out.
It was also head scratching that the only camera in the bedroom was for TLC. No CCTV with 6 premies. I found that hard to believe.
One baby and a baby monitor? Sure. 6 preemies and a baby monitor? Not nearly enough to supervise.
It didn't even seem that the home was baby proofed appropriately.

Over And Out said...

And here's the thing. Older adults soon saw that things were "off" because of their own life experiences, many of whom were raising kids or had grown children. The teens, on the other hand, just saw an amazing mom who took care of eight kids and she became their role model because of the sheer number of babies she was raising on her own. They saw her as head of the household because she was the one who gave birth to them. Thus, their loyalty to her stays with her to this day. They saw that by having multiples, she was able to secure a spot on television, and therefore give these kids trips, material possessions while at the same time she enjoyed a lifestyle of which these teens could only dream. They want to be like her because of the perks that came with it. However, they don't have the wisdom to really take a look at the situation and see that this fame and fortune was bought at the expense of the children.

Of course there are still adult fans who think that whatever she does and has done is right, and will defend her to the ends of the earth. That's what is puzzling. With the exception of Milo, do they really believe that she's a saint, or is this more about continuing the war with the haters?

For teens and young followers, the end (an affluent lifestyle) justifies the means. I'm still trying to figure out the adult fans.

I had an almost identical experience. However I started tuning in for the first documentary. I enjoyed the first two documentaries and tuned in when the regular series started. A nagging feeling something was off started pretty quickly but wasn't blatantly apparent until several episodes in. Here we are eight years later and it's obvious to me Kate is a very damaged soul battling severe mental illness/personality disorder and anger issues. You need only follow her tweets to see that.

--------

Very similar experience here, also. I found myself tuning in to some of the later shows, hoping that Kate had come to her senses and not realizing then that she had mental health issues. I'd change channels after 15 minutes or so and was always left with an uneasy feeling that the kids were very unhappy and possibly abused.

A few of the sheeple are intelligent - one says she's a retired attorney. Is it that they realize Kate continues to exploit the children so that she can maintain her current lifestyle or is it more about winning the fans vs. non-fans war?

************************************************

Jane & everyone above-

I had the same experience you all had.

What started out as a sweet documentary, quickly turned into a show about the hedonistic needs of a narcissist.

Kate behavior towards Jon & the kids was a HUGE turn off, and it was obvious that the kids were being USED to attract viewers. Their privacy did not matter, just as long as strangers tuned in, and the money, trips etc... kept flowing in.

That was when I tuned out. I felt bad for their innocent young family, but I was not going to support that freak show.

Now that Kate failed in show business, it's become completely clear that her intentions are to keep her children on public display- like zoo animals again.

I really hope that The View replaces E. with another conservative for balance. I'm not a big fan of E., but her point of view provided dimension to the conversation, which is overwhelmingly liberal.
I really don't want to see a continual love fest on a panel that only agrees with one another.
But, Kate in no way can hold her own on The View. She lives in her own little bubble with little awareness of the world around her, politic, socioeconomic issues, racial issues etc, etc.
My gosh, I watched a segment of the NYC trip again and I thought her remarking that the writing in Chinatown was "Asian" was dumb. No, they went into a dim sum restaurant and Kate remarked "Oh, I thought the name of the restaurant was Dim Sum".

Tucker's: "Has anyone ever put their child down for 4 hours on a daily basis, or know of anyone who had their child sleep for this long every day?"

I've only known one, a co-worker. Very well-educated, very preppy, very career-driven. the typical yuppie. (Remember those, lol...) She had a fussy baby who, according to her, would cry all night, so he had to recuperate during the day with those 4 hours naps. I didn't have any kids back then yet so I sort of believe her for awhile.

But then, by the time her little boy was about 18 monts old, her pediatrician advised her to try smiling more to her baby. That maybe it would make a difference for the fussiness. My co-worker was positively elated: "You know what? I've tried it and it works! Now, everytime I go get the baby, just before entering his room, I stop and remind myself to put a smile on my face!"

I had absolutely no experience whatsover with babies, but I knew that if I had an 18 months kid of my own I would never have to remind myself to smile when seeing him... And I was right: that redhead baby of mine not only made me smile the second I saw him, he cracked me up more often than not.

And except for this one time when Kate came back from her tummy tuck surgery, I've never saw her smile when she entered the nursery room. It makes you shiver when you think about it...

No way Shoka gets to swim in the pool. I don't know if that's a bad thing either, but all doggies deserve a baby pool if they're outdoors in the summer.
One of my favorite photos is of my Neardie Beardie laying in his pool on our deck... in the rain!
As far as marking pee, many dogs do that. They don't care if it's grass or an object. Male and female and it's just what they do. It's actually funny to watch one pee, then another go "I'll pee on your pee", then "oh yeah, I'll see your pee, and raise you a pee!".
My female Lab is a marker. Yeah, she's a tough chick!

Marie, common sense would tell you that not all dogs can swim. A pool is deadly to some dogs and you have to be very sure that your dog can stay afloat and be OK if not directly supervised or attended to physically in a deep pool.
Some dogs sink like rocks. And die.
Doggy paddling isn't in their DNA, so, there's some common sense to tuck away.

Dogs mark, but if you see a change in the pattern of urination, smell or appearance, then you should take the dog to the Vet.

Otherwise, this is not abnormal, or aggressive, or anything but dogs like to mark, especially males.

Tucker I sort of disagree. Dogs mark but they can be trained not to mark a human's items and reserve it for trash, trees and posts. IMO I've seen dogs marking a purse, a human leg, and apparently in this case a gas can and that is unacceptable behavior. It can also indicate anxiety or possessiveness if they are so concerned about marking they are doing it to such items. Don't accept a dog marking and likely ruining such items, it's not acceptable. There are plenty of trees they can go mark, have at it.

So I don't think Kate's age (younger than they are) has anything to do with anything. She is just a nasty not liked person who has nothing to offer any where. She blew so many opportunities that would leave anyone else with their head spinning. Even on CWS she was so flirtatious with Hank and nasty to little Hank that I doubt they ever contact each other. Kendra truly loves her entire family and has a life that Kate could only wish were hers.
Also, her kids are just like everyone else's at this stage in their lives. I doubt she can market them even for commercials, which Jon would have to sign off on anyway.

Well, I would not allow any dog in the family pool, unless I was going to change water, and/or clean it. Dogs have hair and the hotter it gets the more they shed. So if you like cleaning dog hair out of your pool, and filter, or pay extra for the pool guys to clean dog hair out, get your dog a kiddie pool. That simple. Yes, it is easier to let the dog in the pool, but are you willing to clean dog hair. I know when I wash my dogs in the tub, how much hair comes off, I even constructed a wire screen , and attached it to the drain, to catch the hair. That Marie used the tag> lackofcommonsense, that made me laugh.

Sorry Y'all. My post at 112 should read "Amazon does charge for shipping if you are not a Prime member AND if your overall total is less than $25."

I started watching the show because I saw the first special, thought the kids were adorable and the family was interesting. I started noticing problems right from the first, when KK spoiled Jon and the kids' fun when they were pumpkin carving and she started stressing about "the mess", when they were really being very careful and neat about it. From the beginning I thought Jon was an abused spouse, but, to my shame, I kept watching for a couple of seasons. I kept hoping that Jon would stand up to her, but he never did. In a way, I can understand why he didn't. It probably would have made things much worse for both himself and the kids. I stopped watching around the time they bought the mansion. I haven't watched an episode since then, although I read all the recaps on GWOP and here, and I did check out the clips of the deep sea fishing fiasco, because people here and on GWOP were so outraged by it. I don't understand how anyone can consider KK to be a good example of motherhood or of organization. She's not organized. An organized person makes allowances for unexpected occurrences. She's totally flummoxed when something doesn't go according to her schedule. She can't deal with the unexpected. When you have 8 kids, there's always something unexpected happening, whether it's as simple as a broken shoelace or as upsetting as a vomiting kid.

Someone asked what Kate liked most about living in PA (she didn't answer that part) and if she could live anywhere, where would that be? She answered. "We love LA and Australia". "We"? The kids haven't been in LA in years. They have only been there once, as I recall. It's not the kids who love LA, it's Kate. I still think she wants to get Jon's parental rights terminated so she can move to LA and try to be one of the Real Housewives. She knows that living in Wernersville is not conducive to a TV career, and thinks she just needs to move to where the action is. What if she were to move, and still couldn't find a job in the media? Does she ever stop to consider that it's not her location--it's her.

The points she covers in her tweet-fests are all the same.Buy my cookbook, give me a beach vacation, the kids and I want a new TV show. lather, rinse, repeat.

From "Social Media Today" article:

Phony Twitter accounts make up more of a presence online than most think. According to Italian security researchers Andrea Stroppa and Carlo De Micheli, the black market for phony Twitter accounts could be up to $360 million a year.

This black market purchasing of followers for money takes place on websites such as eBay and others (we prefer not to promote) daily. Why do people buy fake followers, you might ask? . . .

Some believe if you buy a few fake followers then other real users will notice your brand due to the perceived increased importance that you have over other accounts for having such a large number of followers and thus will follow you. Simply stated, the larger the number of followers an account has the more likely people are to pay attention to it. The problem is these fake followers haven’t been gained organically at all, they don’t create engagement, and they don’t do your brand any good when it comes to needing a community to support it.

These phony accounts are called follower-bots and are created to act as if they are a real person — spouting off tweets, following other users, and retweeting content. You’ve probably seen the more obvious follower-bots follow you on Twitter, but the people creating them are getting more and more advanced. These days, spotting a follower-bot can be nearly impossible. They even steal information from real accounts and duplicate it numerous times over to make them look real.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Of course they probably couldn't go to Australia. A kid doesn't NEED that or is entitled to that. Go to the jersey shore. Cry me a river. Welcome to what everyone else can afford.

Somewhere In Time said...

But how do they know when to pop up on Kate's twitter at exactly the same time she signs on, and how to they know what to ask? They are easily identified because of their avatars, which are almost always photos of real people.

I'm pretty sure it's just a computer program. Computers can have conversations that more or less look like human conversations these days. I think it's like Siri, she sort of "knows" what to ask, enough to fake it for a brief period and human. But it's still obvious after awhile to most people it's a computer, just like it's obvious the bots are computers too.

She's so amusing!

Sleepless In Seattle said...

Filming IS how they got those things. That's a fact. Are there other ways to get those things? Of course. However, if you think that a family with eight children was going to travel extensively on the salaries of an RN and an IT guy with no college degree, you are living in a fantasy world.

--------------

But why did a family with eight children have to travel extensively? Those kids have seen more places and done more things than many adults have done in their lifetimes. Could they have grown up healthy and happy without trips like that? Of course! Would it now be mediocre for them to take a trip to the Jersey shore and stay in a boardwalk motel? Have they become accustomed to grand places, luxury hotel suites, and five-star restaurants that they would find such places boring? I don't know.

I think the one living in a fantasy world is Kate if she thinks that's ever going to happen again. If she's given her children a false hope that they'll once again be media darlings and be gifted with trips and the fun times those trips bring, then she's teaching them to be delusional and entitled. They need to see how the "other half" lives and just be content with a beach vacation that doesn't involve a camera being shoved in their faces, because that's the way it's going to be from now on.

Wait. We know that what KK said the children said. Don't forget that KK is the lying liar who lies. In my opinion, it is quite possible that none of the children said what KK quoted them saying!

PatK said...

The trips were always fun for the kids because there was a slew of helpers/babysitters (including a "bodyguard"--let's laugh) to watch them, interact with them and pay attention to them. Something they rarely got from their mother during those later filming trips. I imagine they DO wish for all that attention again. Not to mention being pulled out of school!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

They also have foggy memories of the "trips" which is to be expected especially from little kids. There is plenty of video footage and photos of tired, cranky, crying kids who would throw tantrums. Often sick kids vomiting. I also recall kids bored after having already watched all the DVDs they brought and no one had bothered to try to entertain them, and kids who just wanted a slice of pizza but were told that's for the paid help. There is also plenty of footage of their mom taking the attention away from them or stopping their fun when they were having a blast.

I can count on two hands the number of trips someone was vomiting. I remember at Discovery Cove one of the girls couldn't even go because she was puking. I also recall a deep sea fishing trip where they all spent it all in the cabin puking their guts out, even Steve was holding a bucket at one point.

Fuzzy memories is a beautiful thing I guess.

If you're not buying bots, there's this from "Digital Trends":

Some of the websites that sell followers insist that they don’t send bots, just real followers. One of these sites is called FollowerSale. Digital Trends asked how they ensure they’re not selling bots and they explained their method: “We add our customers’ profiles to the top on our websites as a sponsor so when users follow our customers’ profiles they earn credits, users get able to gain more followers for free with this credits and our customers gain new followers.” So basically, they give real people an incentive to follow their customers. “Our websites has some rules. For example if you are a new user on Twitter or if you do not have a profile picture, tweets or followers, you are not able to sign in to our system so our customers always get quality followers.”

From the NY Times:

Twitter followers are sold in two ways: “Targeted” followers, as they are known in the industry, are harvested using software that seeks out Twitter users with similar interests and follows them, betting that many will return the favor. “Generated” followers are from Twitter accounts that are either inactive or created by spamming computers — often referred to as “bots.”

Buyers and sellers see nothing wrong with it. “Buying followers generated by bots is against Twitter’s terms and frowned upon by the public,” Mr. Mitchell said. “However, it is perfectly legal.”

The practice has become so widespread that StatusPeople, a social media management company in London, released a Web tool last month called the Fake Follower Check that it says can ascertain how many fake followers you and your friends have.

The tool examines Twitter relationships, said Rob Waller, a founder of StatusPeople. “Fake accounts tend to follow a lot of people but have few followers,” he said. “We then combine that with a few other metrics to confirm the account is fake.”

----------------------------------------

I wonder how many of Kate's Tweeters are fake? We spotted it early on with the uncanny addition of tweeters in batches of 5k to 10k.

What I don't understand is wouldn't most people be embarrassed that their followers were made up largely of bots and just want them to go away?

Obviously, that's not a "real" comment and even if there weren't an ad at the end I wouldn't publish it. I want nothing to do with it and I suspect most blogs wouldn't either. Why would anyone cheapen their site or twitter by playing to such nonsense?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Just a guess since I don't know much about bots but maybe you pay for a certain number of bots to tweet things and then they divide those bots into "topics" they tweet about?

For instance there's a big group that only retweets @TLC tweets to Kate or something. They are definitely triggered by @TLC. There's also a group that just retweets Kate all day. There's another group that tweets to her they just finished watching season whatever and loved it. There's the your kids are so cute bots. And then there's the Halloween bots who live for October.

I wonder if you pay for your bots and then pay for a certain number of topics they cover?

Notice the difference. She posted about 10 different sample pages. The photography is gorgeous. The pages are compelling. She even includes her dog. She provides five different ways to pre-order it. And it's NOT plastered all over her web site. It's in one section of her web site where you would expect to find such things and that's it. We can't for sure say she buys bots, but the sheeple don't know either. Buying tweeter followers is not illegal and I guess it is justified because you are marketing your brand, but it is deceitful. I wish Twitter would crack down on "vanity" tweeting.

I believe she also has some automated program set up to tweet those platitudes. Out of nowhere there is a platitude tweeted but Katie is not tweeting anything else at that time.

Frankly, I don't think she is computer savvy, so I wonder if she hired someone to run her Twitter like some high school kid.

It all make sense now why she is so addicted to Twitter because it's the only way she can stay relevant, it's a marketing tool for her brand (whatever role she is playing) and it's an ego trip.

I wonder whose idea it was for her to put out a cookbook? If she listened to a few of the fans who were begging her for a book because they wanted her Kate Salad recipe, she fell for it hook, line and sinker without ever considering that a few fans who would buy a book to oogle pictures of the kids would never be enough to generate sales that would make publishing such a cookbook lucrative.

Does she not have any advisers?

There is definitely something "off" about her tweet followers.

Much like there's something "off" about her photos....the giant man hand/arm underneath her body in the the dog picture, for example.

Mady: " I miss everything about filming." Really? Isn't this the child who put her hand up to block the camera and who created a sign for her bedroom door to keep out cameras? I DO NOT believe it for a second. The other thing I don't believe is that children were allowed in Kate's vicinity while she was tweeting. Changing sub-topics (big topic, Kate, still the same) I hated Kate from the tummy tuck episode when she wanted a boob job too. Which episode was that? I, too, am ashamed to say I watched it for two seasons, then periodically after that. I cringed and cringed, but the kids were cute.

Yeah, Tweet, maybe so. I don't do Twitter so not sure how complicated it is with bots, etc. Maybe my first impression was correct that this is her "work" she always talks about. I guess if you have no outside job you can spend hours on the computer.

@Kateplusmy8 do the kids like Justin Bieber? And also do they watch Dance Moms?

Kate GosselinVerified account‏@Kateplusmy8
@Jazdiva99 they aren't really fans of Justin Beiber but Mady and Cara watch Dance Moms ...

Didn't Kate once say that those Dance Moms were horrible?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes she called the dance moms horrible and one of them was so outraged at the hypocrisy she tweeted that she grew up in Kate's area and that she had always defended Kate. There is a post on it somewhere.

No sorry from Kate. No response at all, actually.

TLC stinks, as we've seen 1000 times, Kate always has her pink iPhone in her hand whenever she's out running errands. It would be no problem for her to quickly check her twitter several times a day. No need to be sitting at a computer.

Over and Out, it makes sense she is using someone to market her. It could be that she has been wanting to get that cookbook published for years and use fake Twitter fans to ask for some recipes to show that her recipes are popular. It's all MARKETING.

The fake twitter fans may make it look like her recipes are populer but they're not buying the book. If every fan that asked for a recipe or said they're buying the book actually bought the cookbook, the sales would be through the roof. Unfortunately for Kate, she can buy followers and twitter-bots but they won't buy the book.

Hook em horns> course the kids could have a change of heart, they are older and with Kate's wonderful school of brain washing(making the kids watch past episodes of their lives, and all the things they got to do and trips they went on instead of watching a real movie) and of course blaming their dad for why they can't travel any more or even go to something local. Yeah, this would make the kids say that. So Kate justifies, why they need to be on TV and filmed. Kate has never really earned anything. Having 8 kids, does not earn you a down payment and house payments, private school, furniture, kids clothes appliances etc that she got free. If that was so, this would be an over crowded planet, just to get the freebees. Kate is getting money from somewhere, if she is as poor as she cries, she would have downsized by now.

You know, even Milo is getting boring. Same old, same old. Not thinking before tweeting, deleting some tweets but not others, hawking the unique, fabulous cookbook. She really needs to come up with a new schtick.

Tweet, you are right. That pink iphone is glued to her hand. I never could understand why she carried it around in her hand. My phone is in a side pocket in my purse so I can hear it. If I carried it around, I'd be sure to drop or lose it.

I don't understand how this book could have been so much work, Milo. It's the same piece of trash she was peddling before the divorce. Maybe the publisher caught her plagiarizing and made her give credits?

This just in Marty Singer's case over that nasty and threatening demand letter has been decided but the opinion is not out yet. Should be released by the end of the day. Upheld in part and reversed in part, which could mean anything!

+++++++++++

When you carry it around in your hand, and you see someone who looks like they want to talk to you, and you don't want to talk to them, you pretend to talk. When your phone is in your hand, it's much easier than trying to retrieve it from you pocket or purse.
