Last week's Kitchen Nightmare's featured some of the most-hated instant villains in reality T.V. history. Amy and Samy Bouzaglo of Scottsdale, Arizona, stole their staffs' tips, fired people on the spot for minor transgressions, and refused to consider any of Gordon Ramsey's suggestions to improve. The pair was so insufferable, Ramsey finally walked out and stopped production, the first time he's ever done so. And the drama didn't stop there. A few days later, a string of nasty Facebook posts, reportedly from the restaurant (they claim they were "hacked"), set off a social media firestorm.
The couple have been bellyaching for years about their "bullies" and "haters," to little sympathy from the rest of the world. Many bloggers and entertainment writers out there have summed this couple up quite nicely, but perhaps ABC's Alex Alvarez did it best. Wrote Alvarez this week: "The reality is that most people do not know or care enough about you to hate you. The internet will always be populated with trolls, but those people are entirely distinct from people who disagree with or criticize you. People are able to not enjoy your service, product, or performance while having no opinion of you as a person. People are capable of not enjoying a pizza dish while also not actively plotting to bring on your demise and that of your restaurant. And those are the people worth listening to. They can potentially make you and what you do better."
This whole saga set off an interesting discussion of what haters and bullies really are and what role social media plays in one's interactions with their clientele, fans, and non-fans. It highlighted the simple fact that many times, "hate" is just constructive criticism that the recipient just could not handle.
Tuesday, Amy's Baking Company will re-open for dinner service. With boobyguards in place and a sold out house, this ridiculous saga is probably not over yet. The drama has already started, with Kitchen Nightmares reportedly sending what sounds like some kind of cease and desist to the couple, which caused them to cancel a planned press conference tomorrow. Darn, that press conference could have been good!

You know what the BOTTOM LINE is with her and parenting? She has judgement issues. I don't know why that is, if it's because she's mentally ill or just plain stupid or not brought up right or needs therapy for past abuse or WHAT. I agree 100%. You know 10 year old girls get that puberty video in school. I have seen Kate infantilize them since day 1. The persistent bibs, sippy cups and high chairs at 5 bothered me. But, she also started them a year late for kindergarten. They are now nine and still in 2nd grade. This is not good for mature social development. I really think she delayed school because she wanted to get at least another year for filming purposes. I can't imagine any other reason for the delay. 6 1/2 years old is late to start kindergarten. They they had the expulsion issues within a couple months. Robert made a 2012 update in his book regarding the expulsion. He said he had gained new information about the schooling that was significantly worse than what was reported. He was promised to secrecy, so he wouldn't elaborate. What could be worse? Do you think any of them had to repeat a grade? That is the only thing worse that I could come up with. This is my opinion only, not a fact, I want to clarify. My speculation only.

She didn't delay school. The school delayed them. When tested for Kindergarten, not all of them were on track for Kindergarten, so rather than separate them, they all started Junior Kindergarten at the same time.
Not every child is five years when starting Kindergarten. Redshirting is not all that uncommon. As long as they are doing well in second grade, is it really that important that they were in Junior Kindergarten when, age-wise, they were eligible for Kindergarten? They did not repeat a grade.

A day late and a dollar short. Actually four days late. Everyone was talking about this Monday. She's finally talking about it Thursday night.
I don't have a problem with red shirting but I sure do think that all worked out quite nicely for Kate. If she really took issue with it she could have sent them to another school who would. I have to admit that's kind of an impossible decision I wouldn't want to have to make. With multiples that young and some are ready to go on and some not, do you let the advanced ones go on and thrive at the expense of the other ones having their self esteem potentially crushed for years on end? Ally, I believe that what Robert was talking about was the reason for the expulsion. I think he was saying that the behavior causing them being expelled from the school was worse than what was being said.

I actually had a similar experience in my own family. I have twin cousins. They are fraternal. They both started kindergarten at age 5. They are March babies. One of them was not doing as well and the other was having no issues. At the end of the year they realized one had to repeat. The big decision was whether they split them up or hold back both. They ultimately decided to hold back both. So they both repeated kindergarten. This is out in California. They are now finishing their freshman year of college and went to different schools. The more academically inclined one, really didn't suffer. He just took more advanced classes at the high school level. They felt keeping them together was more important. It also should be noted, their father, my uncle, died suddenly of a heart attack when they were five. So the school issues may have been exacerbated by the tragedy.
I did not know that the G8 did not all qualify for kindergarten. Then she did the right thing and kept them together. Now if she had let them participate in normal preschool activities, would they have been ready in 2009? They didn't do a lot of things because she didn't want to deal with messes. Anyway...I agree with keeping them all together. The more advanced ones will be able to take more advanced classes when they get to upper grades.

I've long believed this and said it before: Kate does not have natural maternal feelings for those children. To her, they have always been possessions, necessary in order to obtain fame and fortune. You know I was looking at some old pictures of Kate the other day. Apparently she said she was giving all her concert proceeds. I guess people who bought the tickets should know that's where it's going. I have mixed feelings about announcing it. I think if you announce it it can encourage others to do the same. Another celeb might say well if she did that I guess I need to do that too at my concert. I think it's a personal preference. There are some celebs who are tight lipped, others are more open.
I remember in college about a famous case where I think the Kroc family donated a huge sum to something and specifically said please do not say it was us, and they revealed it anyway. She were furious. We used this as a case study for journalists whether it's ethical to reveal such information even against the family's wishes.
I don't think narcissists have much empathy right? So it makes sense that it is difficult for them to understand disasters like this. You know that sort of sinking feeling you get when something like this happens? That shock to your heart when you hear, oh gosh a school got hit and there are kids in there. That numbness in the days that follow trying to go about your normal day with all those people on your mind. That desperate feeling so many people posted here what can I do, where can I give, I feel helpless. To me that is the more normal, common reaction you should be seeing from healthy well adjusted adults.

This statement made me think about the Jodi Arias murder trial. On the day of the initial verdict, she gave at least 4 TV media interviews. She had agreed to do one in particular, with a male reporter she thought had a nice smile. (This reporter played hardball with her.) During which, Jodi stated "I didn't know you were a HATER!" *Grin*
This killer thinks those who disagree with her are haters. An inmate sitting in jail for nearly a half dozen years, with zero personal access to the internet and general media labels anyone who thinks she should not be put to death for her crime as a hater. Of course not. There are reasonable protections you can take for your kids, and those that would keep your kid in a bubble and prevent them from doing things that are good for them.
A reasonable protection is not posting your children's pictures in the bedroom to thousands of strangers, including pedophiles that anyone could access by simply typing in the web site address. Especially when you KNOW a registered sex offender who worked on your show is alive and kicking and on the outside. Those pictures should at most be restricted to your close friends and family, if you take them at all. Why not just enjoy bedtime as a special time in the day and forgo the flashes in their faces? There is nothing about not taking pics that deprives the kids of a good experience. They still get to enjoy bedtime if those pics were not taken.
No one is asking Kate not to take them to a park to play. That's a reasonable thing to do with your child. If she didn't do that, they would be missing out. On the off chance a pedophile got off on children there, no one would blame the parents. No one blamed the parents when Jacyee Duggard's perp got off at the park. But they did blame the parents when he got off watching TLC.

Is that what it is? I never really thought about the "why" before, but that may explain it. I have trouble watching the really poor dancers on DWTS...I had to change channels when it was Wyonna's turn. I watched some of American Idol, and thought Lazaro had a nice voice, but it was painful listening to him speak. I just felt so sorry for him and wanted to help him. I think that my empathy bone kicks into high gear in situations like that. It's not as difficult to read her tweets, but reading her blogs -- nope, no way.

A few things...there was the rule about not filming in bedrooms which I thought was a good one- but photographing them in bed? No. I don't have an issue with the kids having stuffed animals at night; they may need that comfort- just don't post such a private thing on a website. Remember how two of the six used to chew cloth diapers at at least age 3- I thought that was odd but I think they are lagging a bit in emotional development for ONE reason...Kate! I always thought the reason a couple of the kids who were expelled was deeper issues than mentioned. I think one looks like he does not make eye contact much. Who knows? I agree it is private and should be put in the past, but Kate opens herself and them up to scrutiny with these post and pictures.
And Kate did tweet M and C offered to take over shower duty maybe last year, which was why Kate had 'a few minutes' to tweet.

Being from Long Island, I remember this story well. I still can't believe the amount of effort and money Diane's husband spent to clear her name, yet nothing came out of it.
I haven't read Jackie Hance's book-I'm not sure I want to. It was a horrific tragedy that leaves you asking the question "why did this happen", and unfortunately, there are still no solid answers.
I wonder what Khates' publisher would think if they knew that her "marketing plan" for her book is to take pictures of her kids in bed in order to drive sales of her book.

That's a righteous case at least since that guy sounds like a real creep who has done some awful things to young women. I still don't agree with their tactics. How does tit for tat help? It will probably just egg him on. The women should band together, document everything he has done, and go to the police department as well as talk to a lawyer experienced in harassment. Strength in numbers. It's easy to cold case one person, harder when there are many.
I've sort of been following the BV thing with that Duffy guy until I get nauseated then have to stop for a while.

That's what I never understood about these guerrilla tactics and we talked about it a lot here. You should have an end game in mind when you do these things. This feels more like we're just going to drop stink bombs willy nilly and see who scatters.
I'd love to see BV really hold Twitter and Facebook accountable for their lack of effort to control and police some of the people who use their services to stalk and harass. Now that, I think they would find they could get thousands of parents' support whose children have been abused through those sites. Any time you get parents and kids involved in a campaign people tend to take notice. Maybe he could be instrumental in getting real policy changes at Twitter and FB. He would come out the hero. But all this stuff? It's not accomplishing anything. It's spinning wheels.
How does he make his money? Does no sheeple ever ask this?

I haven't really been following the Duffy thing, but I do occasionally read his tweets to see what BV has been up to. I read his tweets to Duffy yesterday, and my first reaction to those profanities/obscene/filthy tweets was, ",,,and this is the person Kate called a hero, a person she called on for help, someone to take down the haters," and basically glorified him." I wouldn't even want to admit that I "knew" or was in contact with someone like that. I'd be too embarrassed.
THe last car I bought the dealer insisted you no longer needed to turn off the engine to pump gas. The risk of the spark was only on older models. Has anyone else ever heard this? Since birth it's been drilled into me turn off the car and I still do.
I've never pumped gas with the engine running and I've never seen anyone else do it either.

I can't imagine keeping my car running while filling. I just filled up yesterday with $.40 off a gallon thanks for my grocery rewards, which really helps with premium at $4.21 right now!

Wow, and I thought that $3.66 for premium was a killer! I've always been told that you should never keep the car running while pumping gas because there's a danger that a spark could ignite the gas fumes and cause a fire. I don't recall ever pumping gas where someone at the station left their car running, and I think I would have noticed!
Not too many people here are going to be hitting the pool this weekend. We've gone from 90 degrees and humid one day to 49 degrees today, chilly and rainy. This weekend is supposed to be in the 60s. If I was a kid and my mother asked me to pose for a picture of me lying in my bed to display on the internet, I would be totally creeped out. Just as dangerous is having your cell phone in your hand or by your ear while you're pumping gas. It's that spark thing again. Leave it in the car!
When there is lots of static in the air and you get a shock when you touch metal, you need to shock yourself before pumping gas. Touch a metal part of your car before you pick up the gas nozzle and then pump gas. There have been reports of gas fires from static. Just do it, please. Nobody will notice you doing it so you won't look ridiculous, and it's better to be safe, right?

Regardless of any change in technology that would 'allow' an engine to be running while filling up the tank, it is against the law in many, if not all, states. Having nothing to do with any change in technology of the engine itself, it is simply not at all safe!!!! (It is flowing gasoline that is unsafe, not necessarily the engine technology)

I had my own close encounter with a tow truck driver yesterday - granted he was the mechanic from the dealership - but he still drove the tow truck. Anyway, I was in the dealership's brand new loaner car on my way to pick up my serviced car when the loaner died on me. I called the dealership and not only was he quick, but he was neither greasy, dirty nor smelly. He had rough hands and dirt under his fingernails because the man works for a living, with those very hands. If he'd had spotless hands in the middle of a workday, I'd be a bit suspicious. He smelled of gas, which like Meagler, I quite like. He also was incredibly funny, intelligent and didn't mind that I asked five million questions while riding with him (I jumped right in, he didn't have to ask me twice) back to the dealership. I have a strange fascination for mechanical stuff, he was probably relieved that I didn't ask to drive. I also made sure to tell both his supervisor and the owner of the dealership how awesome he was.
If I didn't know better, I could be led to believe that Kate was raised in a cabin, in the wilderness, by a pack of domesticated wolves..that smelled like salon shampoo. She has zero self awareness. It's bizarre. Stop saying stupid crap and insulting entire masses of people at one go Kate.

As far as pumping gas, I go to my local station where I get .10 off per gallon for paying cash and also money off per gallon from my grocery rewards card. They also pump if for you so it keeps the nice gas station attendants employed.

May I point out that there is quite a difference between a parent taking their child or children to the park to play, and supervising them in an appropriate manner vs. a parent who takes pictures of their 9 year old children in their pajamas in bed, and posting them on a public Twitter account, where anyone could see them.

Actually, it's not. A year or so ago, not far from me, a teen was on his cellphone while pumping gas. It did spark a fire. Luckily, he was not injured, but it could have really been bad. They did determine that it was a spark or static from the cellphone, plus some gas that had leaked out of the pump when the previous person had removed the nozzle without making sure that it was free of drips.
Here's another case that was reported (not the one I mentioned). It does happen.

Thanks for the update, Tweedle. I still can't get into Novelrank to see for myself. It's the strangest thing. I've registered and everything, but it will only let me in as far as the Sales Rank page, not the # sold page.
Barnes and Noble has her sales rank at 165,000+.
They may be a larger book distributor than Amazon, so I don't really know if that means more or fewer books sold through B&N.
It breaks my heart how kate keeps on taking piece after piece of the kids childhood and puts it on display for the whole world to see.

The first one I find extremely disturbing and wrong. You just don't do that! She is plain and simply using those kids as bait to sell that hackbook.
I wish Jon would go to court and get them taken down off her website. Especially the first one and the rest.
The way kate treated the babies from day 1 has severely affected them mentally and physically and emotionally.
"Screamed at the top of my Lungs" in front of the babies. I wonder how many times a day she did that.

Such high ambitions in life -- watching Kate and her kids is so much fun, particularly the episodes where those poor children are vomiting on a fishing boat, or constipated in a furniture store, or being told that they are ruined when ice cream drips on a shirt, or having the door closed and lights turned out when sitting on the potty, or being put on the laundry room floor when you're sick.

Yes she tweeted a pic of her daughter and foster daughter in their nighties. One little girl's legs were spread and her nightie was hiked up so her underwear showed. Obviously NOT the kind of photo to put on the internet. Fans were upset with the "haters" for pointing that out! And yes Gypsi finally removed the photo.

They did determine that it was a spark or static from the cellphone, plus some gas that had leaked out of the pump when the previous person had removed the nozzle without making sure that it was free of drips.
Here's another case that was reported (not the one I mentioned). It does happen.

"Flames shot up around a 21-year-old college student whose cell phone rang while he was pumping gas.
Firefighters said Matthew Erhorn, a SUNY New Paltz student, received minor burns at a Mobil station near the New York State Thurway (Interstate 87) Thursday night.
"I'm very surprised," Erhorn said.
He shouldn't have been. There's a sign at the pumps at the New Paltz gas station warning that cell phones should be turned off for safety while pumping gas.
Firefighters believe the cell phone ignited vapors coming from the car's fuel tank as it was being filled.

Regardless if it's an urban myth or not, I think I'd rather err on the side of caution because you just never know. One can certainly put down the cell phone long enough to pump a tank of gas.

Amazon's novelrank shows no purchases of her cookbook for 32 hours and only 45 sold in US this month. It doesn't look like she'll match last month's figure of 77 sold. This is only Amazon's figures. I'm curious how sales are going through B&N.

THe last car I bought the dealer insisted you no longer needed to turn off the engine to pump gas. The risk of the spark was only on older models. Has anyone else ever heard this? Since birth it's been drilled into me turn off the car and I still do.

Regardless of any change in technology that would 'allow' an engine to be running while filling up the tank, it is against the law in many, if not all, states. Having nothing to do with any change in technology of the engine itself, it is simply not at all safe!!!! (It is flowing gasoline that is unsafe, not necessarily the engine technology)

My tow truck driver told me I can leave my car on while I pump gas- perfectly safe AND I happen to know from experience, because I get gas in an exhausted state and forget to turn off my car (twice) that yes, the car did not blow up- hehehe. So, it seems to be true.
Also, cell phone at gas pump IS a myth, it is the static charge that causes the spark and ignites a blaze. You can throw all the dirty looks at me you want- I am going to use my phone at the pump and not give in to fairy tales. If you are so concerned about your safety, why are you out driving anyway? You are 100's times more likely to be in a car accident than in a fire at the gas station.

Much as I hate to agree with anyone who can't bother to follow the blog rules, Anonymous is most likely correct. Snopes.com agrees that this is false, and that the culprit for fires where a cell phone was in use was most likely static electricity. However, at least one cell phone manufacturer (Nokia) warns that it is possible, so why take the chance?
I watched the ABC episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" when it aired and never made the KK connection. I was just floored by the behavior of the owners of that shop. After reading the comments here I went back and rewatched it. I don't see how I missed it the first time. Amy is KK's clone. And Samy is seriously scary.
I've read most of the posts here, especially the debate about adult bullying. Admin, I disagree with you. I do believe that adults can be, and are, often, bullied. The trademark of the bully is to seek out those who are least able to stand up for themselves. Whether it's due to passivity, timidity, low self-esteem, disability, lack of education, lack of knowledge of one's options in cases of harrassment and bullying many people are unable or unwilling to stand up for themselves. Do we need more laws to protect them? I don't know. We do need to enforce those laws that are on the books, and to enforce the rules governing workplace behavior. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen, even in government agencies -- look at the increasing incidence of sexual assault in the military.
Brian Biotano's new cookbook "What Would Brian Boitano Make?: Fresh and Fun Recipes for Sharing with Family and Friends " is ranked 85,051 on B&N. Kate's book is 167,846.
In less than one week, he sold 34 on Amazon (only tracked on NovelRank since 5/18). Kate only sold 12 since 5/17.
Brian is also scheduled to appear at the Baltimore book fair. I guess we all know who will have more fans visiting HIS booth.
OT:: I have a little brown snake in my flower need. That's a north American brown snake, non venomous, about twelve inches, and they eat slugs, snails, and earthworms, and insects. Maybe that's why we have not had the cicadapocalypse at my house yet. Any herpetologists here? I am wondering how to make sure we peacefully coexist. At least until the cat discovers it and plays with it then eats it.

It sounds to me like the root of most of these problems is static. I did more googling on leaving your car running while getting gas and even that's saying the real reason is because of sparks from static and to be sure to ground the nozzle if you're going to do that. I can understand people in hot or cold climates might want to leave the car running especially if your family is waiting inside. After seeing something about this years ago on a program like 20/20 that would scare anyone, I got in the habit of tapping the side of my car with my hand before starting to pump gas and when I went back to take the nozzle out when finished. Strange thing to do but it's supposed to keep you grounded, and safe. I suppose if you want to be even more safe, you should do it even more than that throughout pumping.
I don't know if she's a world class tweeter. I'm not sure she even understands hashtags. Unless maybe she's joking with some of her ridiculous hashtags. Not that Twitter is the easiest platform to understand, I'm surprised it's lasted this long, given it's really not that intuitive.

And what's funny is I don't think many of PW's recipes are all that earth shattering. Most of them are pretty simple, often just semi-homemade, though rich and delicious. They are not BAD, but they are not something really different to add. But I don't think it's necessarily all about the food in this kind of thing. It's about the presentation, the story behind it, creating a fantasy around each recipe so that the reader thinks I am cooking THAT tonight.
For some reason a simple taco recipe looks so much better when you envision hungry, handsome cowboys in chaps and spurs chowing down after a hard day's work.
Sisterwives will be back sometime this summer. They each bought a $475,000+ McMansion in Las Vegas all next to each other on a Cul de Sac. I hope someone other than Janelle gets a job. Air Conditioning is expensive in Vegas. From what I hear when they are seen in public they are very rude to their fans. Meri, the legal wife is the worst and Robin the last wife is running a close second. This will also be very interesting when it all blows up with 17 kids and 4 wives and no jobs.

I always felt bad for Janelle. She is the only one I can tell who is really interested in working and I'm pretty sure she has the most kids or the second most kids but then that one with just one kid who is halfway out the door to college wants equal parts of whatever Janelle has, even though Janelle has more kids and pulls her weight far more than anyone else.
I always found it remarkable Janelle didn't just implode on the other three wives at some point. I don't know how they all didn't implode on Robin, who came into the marriage saddled with debt and responsibilities and seems to be a real moocher at this point.

Janelle did leave a few years ago and for some dumb reason she came back. Meri is a very selfish person and wants more than the other wives have, even though Janelle and Christina have 6 kids each. Robyn, who some people have nicknamed Sobbin, also has her half-sister helping in her house because she has too much work with 4 kids. So where does the part of helping each other come into the equation? Sounds like someone else we know. Christina cannot stomach Robyn and you can tell that Robyn is a game player. We will see. Kody is very skeevie to me.

My youngest has her cookbook, and loves the bacon-wrapped meat loaf. I have made things from recipes from her online blog...I have made the apple ?fritter? things that involve a can of Mountain Dew, and in fact just this week made her scalloped potatoes w/cheese. I quickly learned that PW has a much more 'sweet tooth' than I do. I always cut the sugar she calls for in half. The scalloped potatoes recipe taught me to cut the amount of cheese called for in half, too. And I really really like cheese.
When I last saw the show Kody was trying to talk Meri into having another baby. Just one more. The man is Kate with a beard.

You buy a 360 degree dough maker that spits it out in a circle, like the bread maker that slices the bread when you bake it.

Milo..they tell a real life story w/positive feel good spin! Well, as Kate would say it, "Ah!!!! Yeah!!!", Milo, we have been saying Kate spins her story's for years now. All of her "positivity" bull crap has splattered the sheeple for so long now, there isn't anywhere left clean to splat and they have become accustom to the smell. Trust me though, it's starting to hit the fan..no pun intended.. and when it hits full force, there won't be one person around her that will not be effected by her toxic smell.
