What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger

Megan Kowalewski's remarkable fight

Thanks to one young woman's random encounter with Jon Gosselin, we now are privileged to know the story of this inspiring Berks County resident as she battles cancer. Megan, age 24, was diagnosed with lymphoma over a year ago and has been in treatments ever since. Her empowering music video homemade at the hospital, with Kelly Clarkson belting out lyrics like "You didn't think that I'd come back, I'd come back swinging," in the background, is a Youtube sensation.

Megan's treatments have caused a great deal of pain, and stomach symptoms. She couldn't eat a thing over the holidays this year. But her appetite has been better recently, and on Saturday when she felt well enough to grab some fast food, she bumped into Jon Gosselin at a Chick-fil-A. Jon posed for not just one photo but two, and Megan proudly posted them on her Facebook account. The photos generated over 1,800 likes and 233 comments, mostly from friends happy to see her smiling again.

The Reading Eagle has been documenting her story, which can be found here. Megan speaks frankly about her situation to the publication, from being devastated at not having enough time to harvest her eggs should treatments make her infertile, to her fears at not being able to beat her disease. "I'm not embarrassed," Megan said. "I want people to know the truth about what's going on."

Wishing you good health, Megan.

You hit it on the nose, Layla. Especially when you wrote, "Kate is no longer a bankable star".

Kate never had anything outstanding and lasting to offer the entertainment world.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Many, many people are not show business material.

It's a sad shame that she does not understand that- and that will be her ruination.

********************

Pink, you hit the nail on the head.

There is NOTHING wrong with not being cut out for show business, or with living a normal life. If anything, with all of the drug use, alcohol use, and arrests in Hollywood, many of them seem unhappy.

Many people are quite happy living out of the spotlight. And there is nothing wrong with just not having anything to offer show business. That doesn't mean you are worthless. That doesn't mean you don't have something wonderful to offer to another career. That doesn't mean you can't live a happy, fulfilled life.

Kate seems to think nonfame is a disease. When she insulted Jon's "mediocre" life, she seemed to think it was a negative trait of Jon's. I think it's safe to say that the reason many of us care for Jon and have forgiven his past poor choices, is that he now chooses to live a regular, humble life.

Kate should embrace who she is, or who she was: a nurse who helped many patients, who was a mother to 8 beautiful children.

chefsummer #Leh said...

The only thing Kate has to offer is her 8 kids and that's it.

She can't sing.
She can't dance.
She can't really act.
She can't form a sentence w/o sounding like a teenager.
She needs help while traveling.
She doesn't know who's on mount Rushmore.
-So her traveling skills not so much.

She hasn't even been to Philadelphia until K+8 by her own omission.

She's a mean.
She rude
If she's not having fun she will complain and ruin every one's good time.
She doesn't even look like the old Kate.

So what does she have that people want to see a train wreck.

Frankie: I do love the energy in your posts. And I hate your evil android phone. That thing IS truly malevolent, if you ask me, lol. Be careful: don't sleep with it in your bedroom.

And now, time for my coming out as a documentary nerd: I spent my whole Christmas vacation literally pillaging the BBC four "documentary" section on You Tube. A lot on opera (of course...), voice, music, history, physics, name it, you have it. Never went to bed before 2 in the morning, going from one weird subject to another...

And this weekend, also on You Tube, I'm going through PBS's "House" series (The 1900 house, Colonial House, Frontier, etc...), and having the time of my life. Right now, I'm viewing "The Regency party", a kind of "The Bachelor" with an historic twist to it: 10 young men and then young women have accepted to live for ten days in a regency chateau exactly as regency young men and women would have, all the while trying to find love. It's sooo cute!

Oh, and yes, Kate is boring.

chefsummer #Leh said...

Can you guess process what it would be like she Kate got her own show?

It would be lots of yelling screaming screeching umming.

Ordering people around Kate making up new words eye rolling gum chewing.

With Kate saying when she wants to travel and how she wants to date.

I don't know if I could watch that show. But her fans would be super excited.

I'm with you Tweet-le De...high ceilings and tile floors in most of the house. It's a sunny beach to heat when it gets this cold!

I don't think Kate was filming. I think she was probably at some sort of exclusive spa/resort in NC (maybe recuperating from buying another good bra). We're the kids with her? Who knows and who cares!

Layla and Pink are absolutely right, she's not a bankable star and has nothing to offer the entertainment world. The kids are no longer cute toddlers and young twins. They are just ordinary kids doing ordinary things and going through ordinary gawky stages. Hear that Kate? You and your kids are just as boring and ordinary as everyone else.

Working Woman said...

Chefsummer 6, Kate uses her 8 kids as if they are all she has to offer.

But that doesn't necessarily mean they ARE all she has. Maybe she has a hidden talent somewhere that she hasn't allowed herself to discover because she was always too busy pimping out her children.

Maybe she was a great nurse at one time, who knows? It did seem as though she was fairly well-liked on that Kate Plus 8 episode where she and the kids visited the dialysis center.

She probably always had her share of issues. But one of her biggest missteps was letting the fame get to her head. She started to buy her own hype and became convinced that she was better than everybody because of her reality TV show.

If she had stayed more humble and hadn't tried to adapt a Hollywood lifestyle, people would probably be much more open to her in "mediocre land" than they are today.

I believe that just about everyone has something unique about themselves to offer, a talent or a passion. Everyone belongs somewhere.

Kate's just belong in show business, and she doesn't have the humility to recognize it. And sadly, she still has fans who encourage these delusions.

I'm wondering if because the PI sheeple's blog closed down a few weeks ago that they're or she's coming here to spread their nefarious nastiness.
It's so ridiculous. They're wasting so much energy on something we have no interest in. Too bad for them because we don't care.

Most of my pictures are saved on SD cards for my camera. My daughter used to joke about it, telling me to just erase the pictures after I put them on my computer. Once a disc is full I buy a new one, specifically for this reason.

Layla 193...Great post. Kate doesn't realize and will never realize or admit that a big part of the success of Jon&Kate+8 was her relationship with Jon. She thought she was the star and it was easier to kick Jon to the curb when he decided he'd had enough. She will also never realize or admit that her inflated sense of herself and her treatment of others was the downfall of Kate+8. You can only watch a grown woman draw attention to herself with her cackling voice and antics for so long before you change the channel. I never watched any episodes of Kate+8 until the RV episode. However, I did catch the Halloween episode last Halloween and I tried to watch the recent Australia episode but only lasted 9 minutes. I would've ripped my ears off and gouged my eyes out listening to her voice and chomping her gum like a freaking cow if I'd watched the whole show. I don't know how Kate+8 stayed on the air as long as it did.

Working Woman (10) what a positive person you are! Really. I, too, have been looking all this time for something good or even redeemable about KG. Try as I might all I can come up with is that she is an excellent bad example. This is a useful quality I can appreciate when I am tempted to let my inner bitch fly, but restrain myself because I have seen how it looks on Kate and I sure wouldn't want to be seen that way. Nor do I want to be known as being that helpless, so I give a little more effort to whatever I'm doing. I also try to connect a little more with the people I encounter in my day. Thank you, Kate.

I have an acquaintance who worked at the hospital at the same time that KK did. She didn't know KK, but she sure knew of her. According to her, she was very cordially disliked by patients and co-workers. She had a reputation for being lazy (Where've we heard that before?), rude and selfish. She was also known to badger patients about their Faith.

I was browsing around Netflix the other day and came across a documentary that sounds interesting, and very much in line with some of the things we've talked about here. As for Khate, Pink and Layla said it all. Great posts!
She just doesn't seem to get it. Does she not realize after all this time, that she had better come to terms with the fact that it's finished? Over. Kaput. She was a nobody who only became 'famous' because of having 2 sets of multiples. Big deal. That was only interesting for a very short period of time. It wasn't about HER. Why can't she get that through her thick head? Imagine if TLC had said something like " hey, let's create a show about a Mother of multiples. No kids filmed or involved in any way. Just about this Mom.". I think it's safe to say THAT idea would have crashed and burned faster than you can beat an eye. Who cares? That is the reality of Kreider and her show biz life. She is NOTHING without the G8.....and Jon as proven by the quick death of KATE +8. TLC created a monster....of epic proportions....by allowing her to behave like a spoiled Diva. They jumped for her but it wasn't because they wanted HER but because keeping her happy allowed them access to what they REALLY wanted/needed: the G8.

Kreider MAY have become bankable in her own right IF she had behaved as a civil, mature person. Don't think that's in her DNA though. She signed her own death sentence by acting/believing she had the Star Power of Angelina, Madonna, etc. That she was better than mediocre. Heck, she even managed to mess up what she had going for her in the looks dept. She used to be quite attractive. I didn't much care for the old hair but it REALLY suited her and set her apart. Now she is nothing more than an anorexic, bleached blonde, over processed, orange bimbo who has had waaaay too many plastic procedures. That makes her a dime a dozen in Hollywood-Land. There are thousands just like her.....much prettier too...out there and she has done herself no favors with this 'look'. God help her in 10 more years!!
She sold out her kids, their privacy and their childhood for the mighty $ and the fame and 'power' she enjoyed so much. I truly don't know how she can live with herself.
I'm not one to wish bad things on people but, with Kreider, Karma with a capitol K is coming for her....and, personally, I cannot wait to watch it slam her flat, saggy ass! Nobody deserves it more for selling out her own kids.

Sorry, but I do not see how Kate, who in my humble opinion is not the brightest bulb in the pack, could pass the NCLEX? Never got to read Robert's book before it got pulled from Amazon, but did it state if Kate was an RN or LPN?

It's not appropriate to disrupt the flow here with complaints and negativity, unless I'm asking for feedback, which I sometimes do from time to time. Otherwise there is a complaint box for that--my email. There is a reason for Rule 4 and it's called "blogs on blogs". You can google this term if you want more information on why blogs on blogs is the absolute worst thing you can allow on your blog. It will sink it into oblivion. And also, make it a place that's simply not productive. A blog to just talk about the blog or the posters or other blogs is like walking in a circle. We can talk about more important things. We're above that nonsense.

I guess there probably are some, and I hear "daddy" from girls that age and older, but "mommy" sounds odd to me from that age group. Maybe my kids are just too old now for me to remember, lol.

You're right, LibraryLady! Calling their mother's "Mommy" isn't all that common at 12 YO. Maybe Kate insists on it, who knows?

Winter Wonderland said...

Tweeting and constantly doing multiple things supposedly at the "speed of light" = less interaction with kids, as usual. Uh, why not do these things when they are AT SCHOOL??

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Because then the kids can't see how she slaves away for them. She needs to be a martyr and of course they can't see that when they are in school all day.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

librarylady, my daughter stopped using mommy in the 4th grade, I think. I was just mom, although she did, at times, say daddy, but mostly is was just dad.

It was a joke with us as she got older because the only time she said mommy was when she wanted something. Like, can you drive my friends and me to the mall? Can I please have some extra money to go to a movie tonight with my friends? Etc., etc. You get the picture!

I hadn't really thought about it, but I think you're right about when kids stop calling their mother ''mommy''. As a older than dirt woman from Texas, I still say ''daddy'', but haven't said ''mommy'' since I started grade school!

My 8 yr old grandson calls my daughter "Mom" and my SIL "Dad", and my almost 6 yr old granddaughter sometimes call them Mommy and Daddy and other times calls them Mom and Dad. I think my daughter stopped calling me Mommy when she was about 7 and started calling me Mom. I don't know any 12 yr olds that call their mother "Mommy".

Suze and Sky -- I should clarify. Neither of you insulted diploma schools. But there have been a couple of interminable and heated debates on the blog about the merits of diploma schools versus college/university schools of nursing. We don't really need to have that resurrected again.

*******

You know what? When I was in the hospital in very serious condition, I had some of the BEST nurses I could hope for. I did not CARE if they were diploma or degree RNs. They knew their stuff and made my time there (almost 3 weeks) comfortable and healing. I thank God for them all. As long as a nurse knows her nursing the rest is inconsequential to me as a patient.

I don't normally like to post specific information about the Gosselin kids, I feel they all have enough of their private lives out there for the world to see. Normally I just leave it at, they seem like great kids, which they do.

But since Kate always insists on tweeting about complimentary things Mady says to her or about her, I wanted to point something out that I find confusing.

During all of the years of J&K Plus 8, and then Kate Plus 8, Mady seemed to be the one who tolerated Kate the least. She seemed to be the one who kind of always swam against the flow and had Kate's number, and would talk back to her. Now, based on what Kate says, Mady seems to be one of the ones who is always placating her mother and telling her how wonderful she is.

Either Mady was portrayed incorrectly on the show, or something major has changed.

Maybe it's as simple as, Mady is older now and people change as they get older, but it disturbs me to think that either, Mady was portrayed inaccurately as the "challenging child" just for the entertainment value (in Kate's mind), or Mady has changed from more of a free thinker to someone who constantly needs to appease her mother.

Both possibilities are upsetting to me.

I know 2 adults who call their moms 'mommy'- 1 is mentally challenged young lady and the other a vibrant young lady is very close with her mother. Other than those two, I dont know anyone past 8 or 9 that use that term of endearment, except like LMG said, when they are trying to get something from their mom's :)

fidosmommy said...

Well I hope at least (outside of school uniforms) that they are not being dressed alike to look young and oh so adorable anymore. I wonder if the "littles" get to pick their own clothes now?

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Working Woman, good post about Mady. However, my opinion is that Mady is neither. I think her bad moments were portrayed on the show, and I don't believe she is now placating Kate. I do believe that Kate makes up most of this stuff to impress her tweeties with how close she is with her kids and how wonderful they think she is.

chefsummer #Leh said...

Maybe Maddy meant "Hey mommy dearest I'm going to lock u in ur room so u can rest.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Working Women I actually tend to believe some of the things Kate says Mady says, SOME, because I think Kate is too dumb to make most of this stuff up. My theory on Mady is that she appeases her mother. She is a smart girl who knows what she needs to say and do to keep Kate calm and not lashing out at her. She has no solidified her place as the golden child, an abrupt shift to be sure, but it was a self-defense tactic Mady took on.

This role often falls to the oldest child when their mother is a narcissist or otherwise mentally ill. It's parentification at its finest and obviously, extremely unhealthy. Mady should not be concerned with Kate. She should be concerned with friends, school, activities, and so on.

fidosmommy said...

Mady's pretty smart and probably knows how to make life as liveable as possible for herself and her siblings. Whatever it takes.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

I don't know, Admin. You could very well be right about Mady. However, I still keep thinking about that fake vow renewal ceremony. If I recall correctly, Kate was telling the camera something like Mady begged her to be the maid of honor. Mady was with her piped up right away and said no I didn't!

Once again, I saw it early on about Kate lying about what her kids say.

Rhymes with Witch said...

WW, all those kids were "typecast" early on. I think that TLC had a hand in it too. There were some awful blogs about Mady (when she was
6 years old!) I don't know what happened to them but the fact that they ever existed was and is appalling.

I agree with Admin and others that killjoy katie is parentifying the twins and I'll bet the farm they are expected to care for the
sextuplets. The clip of Mady consoling her mother after the skyjump left me speechless. I did have some choice words for kk's behavior
though.

Mel said...

Remember in that episode with script hanging from the chandelier how Kate was lying about something, and Mady said something about "You always lie" and Kate immediately started loudly talking over Mady, and whatever Mady was talking about was never addressed.
On camera, anyway. I bet she paid a price for that later, a la the spanker. Poor kid.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

You could very well be right too, Grandsons. Who knows! Is this the "group think" here the sheeple belly ache about? Because it's simply not true.

TLC already tried all these 'ideas' that Kate and her fans keep throwing out there in episodes of K+8.

Cooking (with Emeril), travel, dating/foot licking.

They didn't increase ratings so TLC cut her loose and no one else picked her up.

Her 15 minutes were up over a year ago.

Might TLC do some sort of followup special at some point? Maybe. But they aren't going to pay any grand sum for it. Especially since she constantly keeps her handful of fans updated with pics and tweets.

Had she taken both herself and her kids off the radar for some amount of time, they may have been a little more marketable for a special. As it is, she tweets every single boring moment of their lives. Who needs to watch?!!

From almost 60 yesterday to low 30s today in IN! Brrrrrrrr. Spring please!

If the idea is that Kate is amazing because she raises eight children, then what about support for the 0.5 percent of American families that have seven or more children?

Now .5 percent sounds small at first blush, but that's of ALL American families. Someone else can do the math, but it must be at least thousands. Why not go sing the praises of the thousands of big families out there? She is not special for having eight kids. Lots of people do it.

So while not quite on topic with the...topic...I have an interesting reality-show anecdote to share.

My NYC neighborhood (keeping mum on the name, internet etiquette and all) is the setting for a brand-new MTV reality show that premiered last week. Going out for groceries Friday night, I overheard no less than 3 groups of people discussing the show. Most of the discussion was centered around how wholly inaccurate the casting was, and how cherry-picked the group of 20-somethings is.

My neighborhood had a rightfully awful reputation in the '80s and '90s (I still have met taxi drivers who don't want to take me home) but it's probably one of the safest places in NYC these days. We have Rite Aid and Staples, but probably 70% of our businesses are locally owned, and Dominican Spanish is the predominant language. We're neither gentrified or 'urban'...it's like a small town in the city. Working class, but tight-knit.

This is where it gets funny- I heard from neighbors that the casting directors were looking for cholos, babymamas, etc– like, a tough, low-income version of "Jersey Shore". And as my neighbors said, "Who lives around here that's LIKE that?" "Dunno, 'bout the same number that's at Starbucks."

Best,
Zelda

OT to LMG, I just wanted to share a thought. One of my
friends has been diligently (and I mean diligently) researching
electronic cigarettes.

Here's what I've learned so far. Starter kits (with the charger and
all accoutrements) run between 50 - 80 dollars.

Different brands are available at some convenience and liquor stores,
and of course online.

You choose your nicotine level, ranging between 0 and 24 mg., which
you can change when you resupply on cartridges..

What you inhale is vapor (and nicotine, of course), not smoke, but you
get the same sensation after a very little bit of practice inhaling.
What you exhale is also vapor, not smoke.

They come in flavors, including, but not limited to tobacco and menthol.

They are odorless and will not leave a residue in you clothes or
furniture. No second hand smoke.

You can buy single, disposable ones to try. Also available at some
convenience and liquor stores . They have been around since 2008, and
have improved since then,.

And possibly best of all, you (anyone) may be able to use them to wean
off actual cigarettes.

If you or anyone is interested I will share more as I learn more.

In 9th grade we were in a new building with just 8th and 9th graders they called the "junior high building" because of overcrowding.

But they still called the actual students what we were, high schoolers for 9th graders, middle schoolers for 8th. I think we all really appreciated that because you work so hard to be a "high schooler" and then suddenly you're not "really" a high schooler? What a let down. That milestone may not seem like a big deal to an adult but it's important when you are in 9th grade.

Saw something really funny on tv earlier today. It was on the Travel Channel and it was a show about the Top 5 Best Places to Go Cheap. The 5th place was a very upscale hotel in NYC. Well, they were talking about it with different people shown on the screen and there was this lady whose name was, get ready! KATE KRADER!!! She had blondish-brown hair cut short and her face looked deflated and she was showing plenty of cleavage. I laughed so hard. Couldn't believe it.

I think I remember kate being a RN, but she got hers at a hospital. She didn't go to college and get a degree. My DDIL is a CRNA. She has her Masters and she is the one that knocks you out when you have surgery. And she is the one who is going to have my first grandchild, a boy. So it can be done. kate is just tooo cheap to pay out student loans and tooooo lazy to even attempt to do it. Anyone who would sit out in the driveway all summer in a white plastic chair and forcing her children to play in a 10 ft. by 10 ft. square so the paps could take their picture so she could make money off it, is just a stinking, greedy sloth.
My aunt Bonnie, who I loved dearly, If you can imagine this. Back in the early 40's she graduated from high school, same one I did, packed her suitcase the day after graduating and walked all the way to the train depot in town. The train depot was the only place that survived the big tornado of 1906. Well, she got on the train and rode the train 40 miles south to the next big town, got off the train and walked all the way to the only hospital, Holy Name of Jesus hospital, a Catholic hospital. She just simply walked in and said that she wanted to be a nurse and they took her in and she started right away. She trained and got her RN and went to Houston, TX and became a ob-gyn RN and she loved helping delivering babies. I just think how much courage it took for her to leave the next day after graduating HS and riding a train 40 miles from home and working right away and I often wonder when she went to sleep in the dorm that first night, was she scared, tired, hungry, sad, happy.
I never got a chance to talk to her about it because I really didn't know this info until about maybe 10 years ago and by then she had already had died. When I talk about kate getting her RN at the hospital, she was herself just too lazy to continue her education. But my aunt was different, she worked hard and everyone loved her. It took my DDIL 6 and a half years to get her CRNA w/Masters. That is not lazy at all.
Also, the RPN with the 7 kids and 1 on the way, not lazy at all! God bless her, my aunt and my DDIL and all the nurses that work hard with kids, it can be done.
Big, Big Differnce kate.

I feel the same way about my daughter. She moved to Iowa, single and with a small baby, to be with his father. She started nursing school a couple months later. She took care of the home, with the help of my SIL, went to school, had a part time job, plus had a son under a year old. Then she found out she was pregnant again. Had my second grandson and continued on still with her schooling and graduated in the fall. I was so incredibly proud of her.

OT-- Book recommendation

For all the readers here I want to offer a strong recommendation to read Robert Goolrick's new book:

Heading Out to Wonderful

Oh, my is it an interesting piece of well written fiction! I usually read mysteries, crime novels, etc but this was recommended to me and I'm just floored with it's beauty.

It's a quiet book set in 1948 about a stranger arriving in a very small town and winning the hearts of the townspeople. He falls in love with someone he can't have, and the plot revolves around relationships gentle, secret and unhappy.

One of the things that so appeals to me is that the setting and the times take me back to my very early childhood. I see my Granner in this book, her way of life and her very small town, my mother's experiences... I feel blessed to have had the experience of these times, if only for a short time at an early age; but I do remember them clearly. My generation was able to glimpse just a small window of this gentle and changing time.

Anyhoo, a definite 2 thumbs up, to quote... someone. LOL

Well, I can take a guess of where Kate isn't at tonight. Golden Globes.

Wasn't she invited, or did she invite herself to something similar a year or so ago?

But I really do truly wish she had spared us all her hideous choice in hats at the Kentucky Derby. I mean there was no need to scare the animals, let alone people with actual fashion sense. It was just cruel.

All this mom/mommy discussion brought up a sweet moment for me. Last week or so, my 81 year old dad and his 65 year old "baby" sister were discussing their mother (my grandmother), and it was "mommy this" and "mommy that". All I could think of was how adorable this was; that at that age they could still reminisce fondly about her and use the word "mommy" as such an endearment. (Of course, this must be why I still refer to my own mother, 10 years gone, as "mommy", and why my two kids (21 and 24) still occasionally call me the same!)

OT. Seizure dogs.

@ PJ's momma

Could you share the name of the "cheap and effective" people med that PJ's using now? I have a seizure dog that we are in the process of trying to transition from Pheno (he is on a rather high dosage) to Potassium Bromide because I'm afraid of liver damage. He is having pretty bad side effects(anxiety, hyperactivity etc)on the Potassium Bromide, which we hope are just temporary. I'm actively researching other people meds for him, but most seem really expensive.

I've owned two other dogs who had seizures in the past, but they were quite easily controlled. This poor guy has had frequent tonic-clonics, and has a long and dangerous postictal phase where he is so scared he tries to run and jump out windows. It is sad.

I'll glad of any thoughts or suggestions from other seizure dog owners.

Thanks in advance, and I need to get caught up on reading the rest of the thread now.

My siblings and I all say "mommy and daddy" when talking to each other but "mom and dad" when we talk TO them.

PJ's momma said...

Of course. PJ takes 3 25mg capsules of Zonisamide 2x per day, so 150 mg per day and he is 15 pounds. He was on both as we weaned off pheno for 6 weeks and had uneventful transition. He was never on PB. It is as effective as pheno and no more bloodwork! Just do your homework. I get it at costco for $32 for 60 days and when I tried to switch to local drugstore, it was $112 for 30 days! Crazy!
Good luck, I hope it works for your pooch and gives you peace of mind about the liver damage. If it helps, PJ's enzymes were terribly high, but within a month were at high normal levels again. Liver is amazing in regenerating itself.

Love ya both but I have to disagree.

If their is a update show on Kate and the kids her fans will kiss her butt.

That will start the oohing and awwing and "I'm so glad your back Kate and the 8".

Her fans will be ever more worse and will shove it in the "haters" face that Kate's on TV again.

And Kate's ego will be even more inflated then it is now if she get an update show.

My four year old grandson calls my daughter mom and his dad, dad. He hasn't said mommy and daddy in a long time.

As far as Milo and Deanna ragging on the sideline apparel of New England Patriots Coach Belichick, a cutoff sweatshirt is his normal apparel for coaching a game. If it's cold, he might wear a non-cutoff sweatshirt. He doesn't give a rat's ass about what people say about his cutoffs. On second thought, he doesn't give a rat's ass what people say, period. Does anyone think Milo's wardrobe is better. By the way, the Pats won. GO PATS!

I agree, admin, well...sort of. They would realize that the kids aren't cute little toddlers anymore, and therefore, the appeal is gone. But for the sheeple, they don't care if the kids are infants or teenagers. It's not about the kids. Their focus is on Kate and their worship of her. They wouldn't even notice if the kids are older or still in diapers.

PS (sorry) for the dog with seizures.......PJ's are similar, ALWAYS like that (pee and poop all over) ALWAYS when he's asleep, and always with that agitated recovery that lasts a long time. He still has breakthrough seizures, but not very often. I hope the same for your pooch.

OT. Seizure dogs.

Many thanks, PJ's Momma for the very quick response. I'll run Zonisamide by my Vet, I don't think it was on the list of meds she gave me. We had also discussed Keppra, but that was horrendously expensive in the dosages required for my 76 lb hound!

Anything we use will probably have to be an add-on med to the Pheno due to the nature of his seizures, but I'd really like to get his Pheno reduced. His liver enzymes are OK for now, but the amount he is taking is making both his vet and me uneasy. He has only been on the PB for 2 weeks and we haven't started tapering off the Pheno yet. He needs another couple of weeks to see whether the side effects go away. I hope they do because the PB is very affordable.

The worst thing about treating seizures is that nearly every drug needs to be started, assessed, and tapered off so carefully and slowly. It is hard to be patient when your pup is not coping well with side effects.

Thanks for your well wishes. They are much appreciated.

Mel Gibson's exwife has a great charity where they bring in kids from third world countries who need various surgeries and the families stay with Los Angeles families so they don't have to stay in a hotel. It makes them feel much more comfortable especially since they usually don't speak the language. In some cases, only the child can come over and so it's like they have a second mom and dad to comfort them here.

I know several families who have volunteered with them and taken in a child. Oh, and all those families have dogs and cats they adore too. You can love animals and people and help both at the same time.

Did anyone see Jodie Foster's acceptance speech at the Golden Globes last night? She won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Some media outlets are saying it was very confusing about what she was trying to say, but I found it very honest, warm and funny in spots. At one point she was talking about privacy, and she made a very good point:

“But seriously, if you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler, if you’d had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe you too might value privacy above all else. Privacy.”

You can watch the speech here:

Since we are talking about dog clothes, natural segue to people clothes! Who wrote the best and worst gowns at the Golden Globes?
I really liked Jodie Fosters gown and her speech. She referenced Honey Boo Boo! In relation to the importance of privacy!
Lena Dunham s gown seemed too large and too long for her, she had difficulty walking in it, and the color was not flattering.
What did everyone else think?

You might as well say well you don't really need a TV, or you don't really need to go to the movies, or have the internet, and you don't really need all your OWN clothes. You should give that money to charity instead. That's silly, you can live your life and enjoy yourself while still helping others.

Meanwhile, how much time and money have been given to charity on this end? None of your business, but it was more than the 10 bucks required to keep a 10 pound short haired skinny dog warm in cold weather. I don't dress dogs gratuitously, I dress dogs when they are SHIVERING. Oh including the foster dogs I foster for CHARITY. When they're not shivering, an outfit is not necessary. But, I don't judge people who do it gratuitously because I would never assume they aren't quite charitable too. That's a logical fallacy, and arrogant.

You're kidding, right? Dogs aren't meant to wear clothes. They have fun. You live in LA, a warm climate, right? You have a home that is heated, I assume?

&&&

I guess you don't follow the news huh? It's been below freezing here for days, and most of the winter it's typically in the 40's at night, though it will edge up to 60s or 70s during the day. Depending where you live in LA, the nights in winter can get almost as cold as a typical day back East. When it's hot, my dog doesn't need a sweater. When it's cold, he does, simple as that. I'm very charitable. What do YOU do with your money? I don't think you should buy those cookies, that cable TV, or those shoes, because homeless children are suffering. I think you should never have any fun ever because you could have given that money to the homeless. If you haven't figured it out yet, your argument is ridiculous.
