According to author Robert Hoffman, who says he is in possession of notes and diaries that Kate used to write Multiple Blessings and Eight Little Faces, Kate wrote entry after entry about disiplining the kids.
The entries include:

Even still, without going into specifics and knowing how the meal ticketing program works, that really sounds strange that an "account" was overdrawn.

Which is something you clearly do not seem to grasp. Adult concepsts of, "Okay, I screw up I am taking responsibility for it by either admitting it or accepting it." Which are neither things that you are capable of doing.
People who abuse children as I have heard will say, "If you didn't make me so angry, I wouldn't have to do this." Classic case of making your victim feel like it is truly their fault when in reality it is the fault of the abuser for not willing to or admitting that they need help. Abuser's enjoy the power they have over someone who is weaker and I quote also from and episode which I can't name:
"I am in charge and that's never going to change."
Kate is either headed for some serious disaster, wh ich she will probably not acknowledge because she can't. In her world acknowleding that things aren't or never have been this lovely organic-making mommy of eight would just undo her entire Christian base lifestyle that she seems so proud of it. The, "I'm in charge, I can do, I will, the goal is." Her entire speech pattern is consistent with, "What I say is even if what is isn't really what I say."
The best thing in this given situation Kate can do is one acknowledge that she might have a problem(s), step away from trying to obtain this media unrealistic lifestyle of rose pedals and perfection and deal with whatever is her real source(s) of sore spots in her life.
Nobody has a perfect life so by her trying to convince evreyone else she does really is nothing more than her trying to reflect away from any negative situation. Thereby is she does not acknowledge anything that is wrong than to her in her world her train of thought that the problem therefore does not exist.
So the kids went trick or treating in Maryland in Steve's neighborhood.
I'm reading about the emails she sent regarding freebies. In one of them she uses the word "georgous". How could anyone doubt that Kate wrote these? Another telling point--there are exclamations points galore!!

I've been reading the book, so I haven't really checked out the online articles about her. I saw earlier where most of them were quoting the Star article, and some mentioned the book.
Have any of them mentioned that the book is now available, and if so, was it mentioned where to get it?
I can totally get how a parent could "lose it" with little kids, especially a 6-pack of them. But, that first time your temper flashes and you strike a child "as hard as you can" and actually think you might have injured them, it's time to get help.
Kate just makes herself so damn unlikable. I would want to feel for the trials that any parent goes through, but my sympathy for Kate just escapes me.
CPS won't act unless it is really violent. They lack the resources, the foster families, the funding, etc. to take children away from homes unless the abuse is life threatening.

In the case of suspected molestation, CPS will come and remove the child immediately. I know of a case where the ex-wife wanted to "get even" with the ex-husband, she called CPS and reported it, and they were at his house the same day and took the child. She had no idea she was going to lose her child over this, or that the system worked that fast. She admitted that she had lied just to make trouble for her ex-husband, hoping to put him in prison.
"Yeah the confidentiality agreement just screams MISDEEDS. My nanny confidentiality agreement was practically scratched on the back of a napkin. "Just don't say anything okay?" I mean sheesh, no one really makes THIS big of a deal unless you're a really big A lister, which my employer was not."
I have seen quite a few Confidentiality Agreements drawn up for various celebrities (major) in the music business. I read the free excerpt from the book and when I got to the C/A my jaw dropped. I have never seen anything like that. Never. It's mind-boggling. If it were breached, everything the person owned, right down to a pet bunny, could have been taken away. No wonder there was so much silence from those who signed it.
No wonder Kate bought 30 more chickens. She thought she should prepare in case the chickens she has flew the coupe once this book came out. Yuk Yuk. Ok, not to funny. hehe

I haven't gotten quite that far yet, but about 3 years ago, before I discovered this blog, I wrote a post on GWOP speculating that KK showed a lot of signs of someone who had been abused, possibly sexually, as a child. I was pretty much shouted down at the time. I don't know if I'm feeling sad or vindicated over that one. It doesn't, in any way, shape, or form justify her treatment of her own children, though.
Those of you who are reading the book -- Please, as soon as you feel comfortable doing so, go to Amazon and post a review of the book. The sheeple will be hitting the site soon, and will be deliberately giving it one star to keep the ratings low and discourage possible buyers. Re abuse and CPS -- In the course of my real world job, I had occasion to interview CPS workers, usually when working on a disability claim for a child in the system who had been horrifically abused and now had permanent damage as a result. I can't tell you the number of times the worker broke down on the phone and sobbed, telling me "I knew what would happen if I sent that child back home, but the judge ordered it"; so bruises and broken bones don't always get a child removed from an abusive situation.

Broken bones don't always get a child removed nor does sex abuse. Generalizations about what CPS will and won't do just aren't true. It really depends. For example, you would think an infant with two broken legs would be put in foster care right? Not necessarily. If the perp is out of the home the judge might not. Or if there is an indication a sibling accidentally hurt the baby, another reasonable explanation, or even an indication the child may be ill with something like brittle bone disease, are all reasons a child isn't necessarily taken.

I really don't think any court would honor TLC provision that the talent can't sue, not if something truly bad happens. Contracts are honored to a point. They can't be so grossly one sided and unfair that one party is taken to the cleaners without recourse.

"Trending" is when lots of people are searching a certain topic. Search engines keep track and analyze what people type in to search. For instance, when there is widespread media coverage of something, more and more people search for it online. When something is being searched alot by numerous people it is considered to be trending.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say this conversation is as important as the one that has followed the Sandusky revelations. These children were not only physically abused by their mother, but emotionally abused and deprived of their childhood by a greedy corporate entity, TLC, that used Kate Gosselin’s greed and mental illness for monetary profits. For this, someone needs to take this company and Eileen O’Neill down to hell.

I was drawn to the clause that states the CA cannot be enforced in cases where a person is subpoenaed to testify. I wish with all my heart that an investigation would be launched and anyone and everyone involved with the Gosselins would be subpoenaed to testify to what they saw.
I can't get the book til Wed. Enjoying (well not enjoying) hearing about whats in the book. I really hope she doesn't get away with all this.I hope she is called out for what she is...a child abuser.

Re CPS issues. My experience is a general rule of thumb, but kids under the age of 5 with marks or bruises or injured limbs and prior CPS history are likely to be removed from the home.
If Jon was aware and confirmed to CPS that he knew Kate was inflicting injury on the kids and he was unable to protect, then the kids would generally be removed from both Jon and Kate.
While I agree with Admins statements, there are still some basic criteria that must be applied to children suffering physical or sexual abuse In the home.
And forget Kate's psychological and emotional abuse she heaps on her kids, nothing would ever happen.
These poor people afraid to report anything probably not understanding that no confidentiality agreement is going to hold up when you are reporting crimes or child abuse. What a bunch of bullies.
Anonymous I have to disagree the kids would have been removed had Kate been inflicting injuries. I actually on the contrary highly doubt that. I think more than likely they would have tried to implement some in home family preservation services. It takes so much to remove kids, especially when, frankly, you are white and middle class or more.
And if Jon wasn't doing anything at the very minimum they would have been placed with him, not taken from him too. The law always directs to place with the other parent first before foster care.

It figures today I would be busy. Downloaded the book first thing and ready to rock n roll. Glanced all the comments, also at RWA and Preesi. Kate cannot recover from this.
When I am done with the book, I will follow others advice and will do an Amazon review. That stupid cow, CJ, didn't even read the book but I guess she figure her one star rating will deter others. I doubt she can stop the entire internet from talking about the book. Stoopid sheeple.

I agree, but I found that for the most part the e-mails in the book are posted backwards - if I went to the end of the group of messages and read them from the bottom up they made sense. I hope this helps you and others, it did me.

I've sent emails to Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Kelly Ripa, Anderson Cooper, Matt Lauer (ick) and two of our local newspapers asking them to read the book. I told them they would be STUNNED by what they read and that the book comes from her OWN journal legally obtained.
I hope that once they read it, any interview offers will go to Robert Hoffman and not the carrier.

Did you ever see the show Judging Amy? Tyne Daly played a social worker. Timothy Ombudsmen(sp) from Psych (BRILLIANT show) was her boss, I think.
She used rather interesting methods to try to ensure the kids were safe. It was a good show.

This book is so upsetting, I find I can't sit still and read it. I have to get up every 20 or so minutes and fiddle around the house, make a quick run to Walgreens, look at email. I'm a big reader and this has never happened before.

Kate the great nurse realizes that on of the girl tups split her forehead open and decides she's just too tired to take her to the hospital to get stitches.
Any nurse (and many people really) knows that you can't wait to get stiches. The edges of the wound swell and you can't get good closure.
This is a little girl with a potential scar on her face. You've got to know this as a nurse!
You either pull the trigger or don't!
DH and I wouldn't look at each other and go "too tired dog, sorry, you'll have to wait until tommorrow and then maybe I'll get you medical attention.
Recently, we were away for a long weekend and our 3 dogs spent 4 days at a wonderful kennel. After driving home for 4 hours, DH and I unload the car and then he goes an hour south to pick them up. Basically, it's a 2.5 hour evolution to drop them off or pick them up.
So now it's around 5pm when he brings them home and I notice my old man bichon frise looks a bit off, dirty. So I picked him up and notices he's lost about 2 lbs. Not good at his age!
DH noticed something in his mouth and it was a bottom tooth hanging out! It was hanging on just by gum.
It was a long day. We were tired. We called our vet immediately and took him down so he could get relief; the tooth was pulled out and he was put on antibiotics. He got a dental cleaning and 2 more teeth pulled later that week. There was no hesitation on our part. He needed a doctor right then and there.
I can't imagine a child having a gash like that and not handling it immediately, but it does comport with all the other reports of Kate ignoring medical issues.
Disgusting.

Re CPS issues. My experience is a general rule of thumb, but kids under the age of 5 with marks or bruises or injured limbs and prior CPS history are likely to be removed from the home.

Anyone remember their commercial awhile back about a little soccer player? As goal-keeper, she gets tired of being bashed repeatedly by soccer balls, so she calls a time-out and pads herself liberally with lots of QN toilet paper.
After reading this book, I'm thinking again about the huge quantities of TP Khate said they went through every week.

Sad thing is, most people won't read the book, but will instead base their impressions on those articles. Again, that's why I think a book-specific blog post would be a good idea. Exactly! The only way a person would find Khate's abusive behavior to be acceptable, is if they are practicing the same abuse!

Haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, but I just had to take a break. The book can be a bit of a slog, particularly when it comes to wading through the legalese of the contracts.
I do want to say one thing. KK better pray that the boobyguard is still available, because she's going to need one after this. People are going to be up in arms (I hope, anyway), and it's not going to be pretty. Jon better watch out, too, although, so far, he's coming off better than KK is.

I don’t know if it was the same show but Katie Couric was on Watch What Happens Live sometime over the summer. Someone called in a question and asked Katie what was her least favorite interviews and she said “mothers of multiples” and a second or two later in a very soft voice she then said “sextuplets” (almost as an after thought). All I could think of at that point was Kate but I don’t know if Katie ever interviewed Kate before.
It is odd that sites like People.com, E Weekly, A and E, Huffington, blah, blah have not put articles out there on this issue. They certainly cover the other Gosselin issues, no matter how silly.

Confidentiality Agreements are worthless unless the person signing is given compensation for signing. Most people don't know that little tidbit.
After starting off as a fan of JK in the early years of the show and then seeing Kate's craziness and hating on so many and getting away with it, I became, yes, a hater of her horrible and abusive behaviors.
I was astounded when the kids, et al went to the Statue of Liberty and Cara did not want her picture taken with the rest of the kids and Kate. I remember Kate telling Cara something like, you will have your picture taken or I will leave you here with strangers. I never got past that comment.
I do not understand why this woman has not been held accountable for so many abuses. But isn't it great that she takes yoga and is going out for sushi?????
I tend to agree, Anonymous at 118. But you know what? Sad to say, I think people pay less attention to a wooden-spoon wielding mama than they would, say, a pampered millionaire who spends her days 's sipping @starbucks with @coffee_mate, French-manicured fingers flying over her 6th iPhone as she Tweets yet another message to her underage fans about how hard it is to raise 8 (count 'em!) kids. There are a couple of Fox stations that are now carrying the story. Maybe robert needs to do some more marketing. I would hate to see Kate slide under this again.
I can just see Katie Couric asking her if she would like to address the child abuse charges and Kate answering, "no, it is all lies." and that would be the end of it, especially if Katie doesn't read the book and just gets the wooden spoon story that all the outlets are promoting. That would be a shame.

I am having the same problem. As I read I keep seeing that radioactive hair, the neon teeth, that sneer, the eyes bugging out of her head, her hand smashing Collin's face in several different instances from film, ... and I have to get away from it.

July 2007 Stacy Bailey in Arizona is pregnant after her frozen transfer and we are waiting to hear with how many! I am nervous that she is trying to come up with another show for herself in all of this!

I am shaking my head over the fact that Kate constantly calls her children "the 6". She really doesn't view them as separate little persons.

Remona Blue -- Do you remember what chapter you were reading? You can click on the chapter in the table of contents and get there without all the scrolling. Even if you don't know, just click on chapters randomly until you get close and that will save you a lot of time. If you remember the location numbers, you can go to "location",type the numbers and it will take you there. It's MUCH easier when you have actual page numbers, but a lot of ebooks don't, even when they started out as DTBs. Most Kindle users have had the "lost place" syndrome, LOL.
DD The Army Wife just called me. I talked to her earlier in the week about this Gosselin stuff, she didnt even know who the kate person is. Anyway, I told her this afternoon that I bought the book and since I paid money for it rather than getting it for free, she was interested in all the hoopla. So she downloaded it, and zipped through enough of it already to find where I am quoted. (I havent seen it yet).
So tonight at the wives meeting, she is passing it around, ladies are cheering RealityKidsTv and my comment, whatever it is. THREE of the ladies bought the book right then and there at the meeting!!! They toasted our blog with cheesecake. The night is still young at the wives meeting, so I am hoping another book or two get sold. Whatever the planned topic for tonight's meeting was going to be, it is now child abuse.

You're probably right. They're concerned they will be exposed for enabling a child abuser. In light of what happened with Sandusky they're not too off the mark to be concerned.

I called a friends this afternoon, she used to like the j&k+8 but also recognized how mean and horrible Ms Kreider was as the show went on. We would call each other to discuss the Dancin With Them Thar Stars show and poor Saint Tony who was stuck with her. I let her know about the book, hope she is checking out spoilers here.

WG, by her own admittance, never met Kate, was never in her house, never had a conversation with her. I would have suggested she either say something short and neutral, or else had said nothing at all.

I have seen two people hauled into court for violating a C/A and they were not given any compensation for signing. Both of them ended up on the losing end and the penalties were stiff.

I was the person upthread who wasn't going to buy the book until TLC threatened Robert. I don't like threats or bullies. I am happy that I bought the book. I have always been on the fence with this because I felt like I couldn't really figure this whole thing out. It was hard for me to get a handle on Kate. I would watch the shows and see things that bothered me but I would always think, well, it can't be that bad. They're just painting her in a bad light for ratings, right? No one could be that horrible.
After reading this book, it is quite obvious that she has been very well protected by TLC and it seems everyone else around her. I guess I understand now after reading the CA agreements. I don't know that I would ever sign a contract like that knowing that my voice would be taken from me in perpetuity.
Anyway, thank you Robert for your time, your hard work, your unselfish dedication to getting this story told. I understand it has taken a toll on you and your family in terms of finances, but I'm betting that you are genuinely happy and so are your children.
I've come to some conclusions after reading.
Kate needs to be sent to mandatory counseling and the kids need to be given to Jon until she completes her counseling. After that, she should have supervised visitation. She is not to be trusted with her children alone. Even she agrees with that according to her journal.
Jon needs to go to court to get his voice back regarding his protection of his children. No father should have a threat held over his head to keep his mouth shut regarding his own children. This should be illegal. I don't care what kind of contract he signed. TLC does not own the rights to those children's lives. It is immoral. How can you own someone? I know, I know, it will cost him money. But maybe there is an attorney out there who is willing to help.
Kate needs to break open her many accounts and pay restitution to the people who donated either money or gifts under false pretenses. This includes churches and people on twitter. There is a girl on twitter, Paige, who idolizes Kate and who can't afford to go to college and who regularly sends gifts to Kate, who willingly takes them. Kate is commiting fraud in my opinion.
Finally, TLC should be held accountable for covering up the crimes committed against the Gosselin children and should pay restitution to the Gosselin children for airing very private moments that these children can never get back.
The people on this blog are great and I admire Admin for standing up for her rights against TLC and hope that she can give advice to Robert.

I just want to warn people here that unfortunately, there are a stunningly horrific number of people in the US who support corporal punishment of children. ....and due to this, we will likely see many comments on various internet sites that reveal this info about Kate....even written by people who don't like Kate (sick of her, think she's a fame-whore, etc.) who will support her abuse of her children.
Last week-end there was an article on yahoo about a situation in Texas where an adult male vice-principal spanked a teen girl (because she let someone copy her classwork)...causing her backside to be "fire-engine red and blistered" according to her mother. Apparently, there are many areas of the country where schools are still allowed to administer corporal punishment to the students. Never mind the sado-sexual/spanking fetish aspect of the story (which so many commenters seemed to think was no big deal), I was stunned to read so many of the comments there that supported what had happened and supported administering corporal punishment to children and students in school.
I don't want to appear classist here....but there seemed to be a clear pattern in terms of what areas of the US tend to support this concept. I live in the metropolitan northeast US (not all that far from where Kate G. lives, actually) and I was appalled at the article and it was clear that most who live in this area of the country were also appalled.....as were those coming from other large metropolitan areas in the US.
BUT....there were a huge number of comments coming from other less metropolitan areas completely supporting what happened to this teen and completely supporting corporal punishment of children.
Most in the metropolitan northeast were horrified at the story and considered it to be behavior from the "Dark Ages" and I know people from the area where I live would have been outraged at the story. Heck, I was outraged just to learn that corporal punishment in school is still allowed in so many states in the US.
In my personal opinion, the huge majority of those who support corporal punishment of children (which I absolutely oppose) do so in order to justify and rationalize what they do and are doing to their own children.
But just be warned.....there may be many comments written (such as on Amazon) that may support this type of child abuse and they may very well not all be coming from sheeple. There are very likely far more people who may support Kate's treatment of her children.....than just the small number of devoted Kate sheeple out there. Just be prepared.

Dee, sadly I have to agree with your assessment that there are still a lot of people who don't see anything wrong with this kind of abuse. We have a long, long way to go to get people understanding and accepting how demoralizing this is.
I know there are some studies that say kids who are spanked don't commit as many crimes are better adjusted, etc. I'm sure the sheeple love those studies. But this is the flaw in those studies. The problem is they are comparing kids who are spanked to ALL OTHER KIDS. That includes kids who are not disciplined at all, let run wild, no parents around, can do whatever they want. Of course those kids are obviously not going to do well without any structure.
To give the study any meaning at all, you've got to compare one form of discipline to another, not compare spanking to ALL other kids. I would like to see a straight, simple study comparing kids who are hit to kids who, say only go to time outs. I don't know if this has ever been done.
Dwindle, in my opinion it is the most disturbing thing to happen to Christianity in years. It's sad that so many churches who don't believe in this are having to spend so much time explaining to people why they should not fall for this.
It's no different than the traveling faith healers saying if you just believe enough you will get what you want. That's not based in theology whatsoever.
I don't like to talk about religion too much because it can be divisive, but that's one of the biggest things that irked me about Kate from the beginning. She perpetuated the false prophesy of ask and you shall receive. Where that leaves all her fans who asked but did not receive, I have no idea.

I believe, on Wednesday. The promo went past fast. the host nominated Kate as Jackhole of the week.
I have been watching the earlier shows on netflix and I noticed a few things that made me wonder. sure Jon didn't approve of Kate spanking her kids with a wooden spoon and all this talk about her abusing the kids but in the shows that were aired Jon had done somethngs that made me wonder he pulled one kid by the ear and either flicked or pinched one of the older girls who then sat at the table rubbing the spot. It happened so quick and he turned away almost as though he had to remind himself to not get carried away because he was being filmed this makes me wonder what he may have done off camera as well.
Good gosh, what is the matter with our States on reporting abuse? No wonder so many of us have been abused or there are so many children out there living in abuse...BREAK THE CYCLE OF CHILD ABUSE!
