Kate runs in Y102's 'Yes I Can' 5K in Wyomissing

Although promotion for this great cause has been shamefully sparse, we do know the race kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday and benefits Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. To donate check out their web site here.

Readerlady - I THINK the answer to your question at the end of the last page is that French-speaking people refer to themselves as Quebecois, and English-speaking people refer to them as Quebecers. If that's not correct, I'm sure someone will let me know. :-)

Bearswife said...

Thanks franky! I have no intention of cutting mine either. My dad is a hippie too, he just cut his hair short last year, at the age of 71!

Anonymous said...

amyf to readerlady..u got it.

English speaking Quebecers are more likely to consider themselves as Canadian..and Quebecers.

Quenecois are or the most part brought up when the sepatatiste movement declared Quebec a pays (country)..today we Quebecois are happy to hold on to our heritage, and many like me consider themselves a Quebecoise Canadienne. I love Canafa..Quebec and our troops...thank u all who serve.

Getting off my soap-box to refill my rumspringa hat..off to await helicopter at Olympique Stadium

Here's something charitable Kate could do, and it won't cost her a thing. And she could promote it on twitter and gain even more dollars for her favorite charity.

Oh wait. I don't think "Kate Gosselin" is one of the charities listed.

All kidding aside, and I have NOT done any research on this organization, this sounds like a perfect opportunity for her to do something charitable without costing her any more time or money than she already gives (nothing).

Charity Miles is an iPhone/Android app that empowers you to earn corporate sponsorships for charity by walking, running or biking.

Just choose a charity and press start. As you walk, run or bike, the app tracks your distance and you earn money for your charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile, all up to our initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.

And this is just the beginning. As you walk, run or bike with Charity Miles, you also help us attract more sponsors to increase our sponsorship pool for everyone.

There is a recipe for German Chocolate Cake circulating down here in the South. Mix the cake batter with the instructions on the box. Then ADD the can of Coconut Frosting to the batter, mix well. Put in a sprayed Bundt cake pan and bake. When you take it out, you can dust it with powdered sugar.

Why would kate be that sour to that precious little girl? She is such a witch!

Ok, Bandit (the young Burt Reynolds from Smokey and the Bandit, what a FUN road movie!) Is picking up the pace and all you Quebecois Should see him driving that H2 Hummer stretch limo any minute!
Johnny Knoxville us driving the Eel Camino south of the border to hot the Harrahs in Joliet Illinois and Metropolis Illinois.
Bandit will done the Hummer south into Wisconsin to start the Laura Ingalls Wilder tour at Pepin, Wisconsin. Mean while, Johnny Knoxville will take us to.the Harrahs in St Louis Missouri and north Kansas city Missouri. We will go to the Laura Ingalls Wilder site at Mansfield Missouri.
The northern route will go to Detroit Michigan to see buildings designed by the Agree guy. And we will hit the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites at Walnut Grove Minnesota and Sanborn Minnesota. And can't miss the Largest Ball of Twine in Darwin Minnesota!
There is another Largest Ball of Twine in Cawker City Kansas, can't miss that one!
Admin, any weeks Ms Kreider is exceptionally boring, you can post on which Giant Ball of Twine is REALLY the most giantish like.
To complete our Laura Ingalls Wilder road trip, we will go by Burr Oak, Iowa and end up in DeSmet South Dakota!
Ok, that should satisfy the Harrahs fan and the LIW fans. Tomorrow West of the Rocky Mountains!

Hey, hey may be a little late but can y'all swing by New Orleans and pick me up? I can stand on the corner of Bourbon St and Canal. I'll have some bags of Mardi Gras beads so we can ride through the French Quarter and have our our own parade. The Clampett mobile will be just fine.
If hit Bourbon around 2am, we can really have some fun as all the intoxicated quarter lovers will be more than happy to buy us a few rounds and if we play our cards right, might get to see a strip show. Of course we will have to stop at Pat Obrien's and pick up a few Hurricanes for the road. Around the corner we can get some bignets and coffee to go and head toward I-10 westbound and down.

Oh, by the way, potty before you get here because peeing between the buildings or parked cars is not easy to get away with. Everyody where their good bra and KK stripper outfit with the hooker heels and a good time will be had by all.

Fido I think they're referring to a pic of Kate signing a book for a little girl, she looks kind of glum but it's just a pic--hopefully she smiled and was kind to her.

A good rule of thumb as a celeb is to always have a smile or at least a pleasant expression on your face. Otherwise they'll find that one sad pic of you and splash it across the tabloids claiming you have a drug problem or whatnot. But if you always smile and look pleasant no one will ever say you're a sourpuss.

You all lost me. I have no idea what this whole thread is about anymore. Trips? Freeways? Books? Recipes? Agreeance?

Half the time, I don't know what is said in jest, and what is real. It's hard to wade through all the posts and follow what's going on. I had the same problem with the last thread as well. I read from the bottom, never had this problem before in all the years I've been following this blog.

I'm not suggesting anybody change anything, it's not my place. I just thought I'd share how I (and maybe others?) feel.

These threads have gotten totally, absolutely, mind boggling confusing. I give up.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I have come to think of this blog as one giant old time veranda. There are dozens, maybe even close to a hundred of us on this veranda. Sometimes all of us are discussing the same thing, but most of the time we are sitting in casual groups and each group is discussing something different. Eventually i get up to freshen my glass of rumspringa and catch a few words of a different conversation so I join in there for a few minutes. But it is fun to mingle and hear all the different topics and view points. Tonight, Joy in Virginia brought her TripTiks and we are talking about that. Love My Grandsons was away for a week on vacation, and we missed her and this group over here near the steps wants to hear all about the grandsons. And her shorts. ;) Admin owns the house, but she is pretty dang cool and is fine with us occupying her veranda when she is at work - however she has been known to run home on her break during the day, which is nice.

I know the blog is changing. But it's a nice veranda, with fun neighbors, and nice refreshments. I hope you stay.

Dwindle, nice way to describe the ebb and flow of the conversation here.

I don't know why I am still awake. Hubby gets up in just a couple of hours...the twain shall meet, or something like that. Sometimes, I just can't fall asleep. Frustrating.

I am the same way. HunnyBunny gets up and 5:45 and eventually I just get to the point where I put on the coffee and call it morning. Then I spend the next 3 days trying to get straightened around.

No wonder I'm exhaustedish - I'm just to freaking busy!!

TLC stinks said...

Kirkland, I think the blog twists and turns because Kate is becoming irrelevant. I keep to the Kate thread of talk, but I have to admit, there's not that much anymore. At least the catwalk will provide some more laughs.

TLC stinks said...

Oh, to add, I'm a stay-at-home empty nester and this blog provides me a chance to connect with others. Great minds think alike.

TLC stinks said...

So the few remaining Kate support sites only have a few posters and someone thinks there's enough people out there who want to read a book bashing haters?

Frankly, I think Hoffman thought it wasn't worth the risk financially to publish his book with her legal threats or not recoup his investment with a limited audience of haters too, but he could run a blog or go to the tabs. I just wish someone, anyone, would set the record straight about this woman. It's just simple common sense about Kate Gosselin. What is needed is proof. Contrived fertility, kids for money, grifting, infidelity, mental illness; it just boggles the mind.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Good morniing, TLC Stinks!

I, too, am an empty nester, and just for today, I'm also a stay at home. I was so looking forward to sleeping in on a Monday, and then I woke up an earlier than I normally do for work! Oh, well...

Do you know what poutine is? I'm really curious.

Lilly said...

Lovemygrandsons - poutine is french fries covered in gravy and cheese curds - usually bought at a roadside frenchfry truck

The Quebec/Canadian thing can be a very hot topic here - mostly though it is a live and let live attitude these days.

Thanks for the helicopter ride - next time I am going to do up the seatbelt - that was too much excitement

cathy518 said...

Greetings to LoveMyGrandsons and TLC Stinks from another empty nester! My baby left for college last
month and I am spending time in my too quiet house doing fun things like cleaning closets I have never gotten to. I miss my children but am appreciating some freedom I never had before. Kate has no idea how quickly the time raising children passes does she?

LoveMyGrandsons said...

In my #32 post, I meant an HOUR earlier. Sheeeesh.

Regarding poutine, I'm sitting at a computer and never thought to google it until now - duh.

Well, it sounds fattening and unhealthy, and boy, would I love a BIG plate of it! It looked delicious in the picture. Hey, franky, if you haven't passed by Chicago yet, hold some poutine out the window for me and I'll grab it as you go by!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Thanks for the info, Lilly. I google poutine and it sounds so good.

cathy518, yes, the kids grow so fast and before you know it they're gone. It was hard when my daughter first moved to Iowa, but I do enjoy the relaxing freedom as you stated.

Cleaning closets, hmmmmm, I guess I could do that today. Nah, they've waited this long so what's another year?!

Dmasy said...

Good morning, early birds. I was also here with the late owls. Oh my, I will need lots of coffee to keep me busy today. (Homage to Kate over...)

Have a great day, everyone.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Boy, Dmasy, I didn't expect to see you here this early with how late you were up! Yep, you'll need lots of coffee to get going today. Don't forget to tweet to your favorite coffee company - maybe they'll send you some for free. Just tell them Kate recommended it!

Lilly said...

Don't worry you guys - l have brought lots of poutine for everyone

Good news day - after 4 months with no work finally got a one year contract - start next Monday - oh my :-)

Dmasy said...

I only see the tweets at the top of this page. She is friggin' crazy this morning.

Bragging about being in bed at 8:00AM (her time) with warm coffee. Isn't that an open admission she did not have to get the kids ready for school? She is promoting a talk show for her self. She has a "numbered" busy day that will keep her from her comfy bed for 14 hours.

She is thoughtless and self-destructive. There are no working mothers with school-age children who could relate to this indulgent woman. Even her teen fans must realize that their moms are in a flurry on Monday morning.

Dmasy said...

Lilly, congratulations on your contract. I understand the pet-in-lap-sleeping-can't-move situation. Sometimes the laptop or remote or coffee cup are just..just out of reach!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Congratulations, Lilly! Good luck to you.

Dmasy, Kate's tweets aren't showing up for me. I think I'll reboot and hopefully they'll show up then. Just curious about the manic tweets from that lazy woman.

tate said...

Kate is saying she doesn't see her bed for 14 hours after she gets up in the morning. Umm...isn't that the case for most people?

And she is mulling over a talk show and a dating show "if the creative" is right. What does that even mean? It means she has nothing.

JoyinVirginia said...

Grandee4, hope you hopped in safely when Johnny Knoxville zipped thru N'awlins!!

David, this is Bandit and Johnny Knoxville, now boys don't y'all race... Too much.
I listen to xm 60 Outlaw Country, and Johnny Knoxville has a radio show, the Big Ass Happy Family show, which is lots of fun, so he has the best playlist. Bandit had the best hat.
” cause we are one big ass happy family, insert one big ass family tree” fun theme song.
Gotta say, I love the verandah analogy. A virtual verandah! Love it!

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Now I see her tweets. What I've noticed is that after I post a comment, her tweets disappear and I get just a blank white box. Oh, well.

Hey, good morning!

Did anyone watch all of "Breaking Amish" last night? I made it through the first 30 minutes or so, then my husband changed the channel on me. My daughter and I thought it was too forced (scripted!). We were both surprised that 2 of the 5 participants are adopted (and both seem to have issues with their own adoption (feeling abandoned) in general - to me that did seem a bit raw, genuine).

I found an interesting article this morning, from TIME, about someone who did leave his Mennonite order.

ugh, it seems a few of us were up lat night with insomnia! Me too, 2nd night, and since taking Glycine ( sorry, OT) I just ordered the big package of powder. No rhyme or reason as to why I couldn't sleep- the smoke detector beeped once (will call today) but who knows.

Does insomnia get even worse after menopause? Nooo!

Anyway, it's beautiful here, sunny and cooler. Will make the most of the day - had one mug of coffee @traderjoes w/ @marketpantryhalfand half so that will sustain me.

mamaK said...

Uh oh! Kate! Early morning tweeting is worse for you than late night tweeting!!! So much for, I'm exhusted from bus runs and my busy-ness of the day. She's at home in bed trying to work up the energy to get going. Hm, must be nice to have an exhusband who can have the kids so that you can have this quiet time.
Oh, and so much for a dating show. All those poor fans who have been asking about it and getting no firm answer have one now. "I'd love to do one..." means, of course, that one is not in the cards. Awe. They will be so bummed. The kids however, not so much. If my divorced parents had gone on tv to date I would have been mortified!
Oh, and doesn't look like any specials comin' up anytime soon either. Sad. Kate says that she is shifting through possibilities, but it's been a year. I would think those things would have happened within 6mos of cancelation and would be clickin' along right now.
At least she still has "recipes that pop into her head". Really? Really?
Well, I guess with all her kitchen time and cooking ability, that job at McDonald's is looking like a definate possibility.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Fomerly Duped, well, I had a problem with insomnia once menopause really hit. Nothing a little NyQuil didn't help, though. But, I would take the insomnia back if I could get rid of these incredibly awful hot flashes!!!!

mamaK said...

Ooo! Maybe that's on her "numbered list"! "Turn ap into McDonalds". Nah.

And, really? 10-12 things on her list? That's a busy day for her??? Um, that's just the stuff I have to do to get through the day in one piece! (like dishwasher, laundry, make beds, etc.) Not including all the other stuff that comes up from life (like enroll in classes, go to post office, clean out closet, call so and so, etc.) 10-12 things, alone in the house, can be done by lunchtime! Ugh! So much for busy!

Formerly Duped said...

Honestly, Kate admits 'exhausted' is her favorite word. She MUST read here! I am tired but exhausted to me is an extreme word...she answers all the questions about the dating shows/specials/cookbook as if she has control over them...ha1 She is lazy. Why doesn't she get up and 'attack her busy-ness' in the laundry rm ( can tell the laundry girl to wash her slimming black running outfit) and the kitchen to concoct some mess.

The Blackhawk helicopters picked up everyone last night who wanted to join in. just wish for a helicopter and you can join the party en route! We will be visiting scenic points of interest heading West and hope to end up at The Thing in Dragoon Arizona this evening. &&&

Ooo, me, me, can I answer this???

Because you won't get a JOB?????

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Formerly Duped, well, here goes.

Menopause is different for all women and alot depends on your genes. In my family, all of the women (mom, grandma, aunts) always suffered with very bad hot flashes for a long time. Fo me they started a couple years before I actually started menopause, and the doctor said that was common. However, they got worse and I've been dealing with them for an additional 6 years now.

At first, I tried to suffer through them, but they got worse. I tried all of the herbal remedies and vitamins, but they didn't help. I didn't want to do HRT, but the hot flashes got so bad I couldn't sleep. Finally I gave in and got on the HRT. It does help as my hot flashes don't come as frequently as they used to, only about 10-12 a day now. However, in the summer it's much worse, especially with the miserable heat and humidity we had in Chicago this year.

I also gained weight, again the doctor said it was common. Then I was diagnosed with depression that was triggered by the menopause. Again my doctor said this was normal for a lot of women. I take a mild medication for that as well, and I feel relatively normal. Lol!!

Now, the good things that have happened to me with menopause, and yes there are some:

No more menstration; body hair stopped growing (I only have to shave once every few weeks whereas it used to be 3 times a week!); believe it or not, my taste buds have changed as well. Before I didn't like anything spicy. Now - I order jalapenos on my nachos, sport peppers on my beef sandwiches, etc. A whole wonderful world of flavor that I wouldn't touch before.

So there's my story with menopause. Now on my hubby's side of the family, the women didn't have a bad time with menopause and rarely had severe hot flashes. I used to tell my daughter that I hope she takes after dad's family when it's her time. However, she has made fun of me and my hot flashes so much, especially last week, that I told her I hope she takes after me! Then she'll feel guilty for all of the times she made fun of me!! Lololol!!

Actually, I wouldn't wish these hot flashes on my worst enemy, so I don't with them on my darling daughter.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

She still hasn't mentioned having the kids. I wonder if Jon has them until after the fashion show. That would make sense.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I love how the first thing she says about doing a talk show is she would love it BUT it's a lot of work. Yes Kate, when you have a JOB it's usually a lot of work. That's why it's called a JOB. Good lord, what do you expect?

This woman won the lottery way back when and landed one of the few jobs where she has to do absolutely nothing and thinks she's entitled to be paid to just exist for the rest of her life.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Ugh, I don't WISH them on my darling daughter, not WITH them.

By the way, I've been on HRT for about a year and a half I think. So far no problems. Hopefully, not much longer either.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Life's short; laugh a little, right?

&&&

I'm sorry, is there something funny about trying to find someone you love and who will be a good stepfather to your kids? This is a barrel of laughs worthy of a TV show why? Geez, at least Jon doesn't act like dating is one big joke.

These manic tweets are great this morning. No way she had the kids to contend with. They're with Jon through the fashion show.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

She is thoughtless and self-destructive. There are no working mothers with school-age children who could relate to this indulgent woman.

&&&

It's even beyond that at this point. There are no ADULTS who could relate to her. Geez, college kids with light schedules who probably will graduate in five years not four whose only responsibility is to show up for Frisbee in the quad at four work harder than she does.

Thanks Love My Grandsons!

I appreciate your taking the time...my mom had terrible hot flashes, but some of my friends who went through menopause earlier did not. But,one said she lived with her head stuck in the fridge!

Oy, what we women go through. I would like no more periods though! I know how you feel about your DD- I had hoped mine would not suffer from cramps, but she did when a younger teen. It's hard to paint a rosy picture on all this for our daughters. I gave my DD a sterling bloodstone ring when she got her first pd- lol- her pediatrician thought that was the funniest thing ever. What can one do to celebrate upcoming or full-blown menopause? I watched the Wisdom of Menopause with Dr Christiane Northrup- entertaining, but I'm not sure I buy it...any way , thanks Loves! xo

Kate is saying she doesn't see her bed for 14 hours after she gets up in the morning. Umm...isn't that the case for most people?

~~

Well, I normally am up at 5:45, but no work today and had the bed to myself (well, except the Mutt) so I slept in until 9AM - glorious! But even with that delicious sleep in, I still wont be able to go back to bed for 14 hours! On a normal day I'm up for 16 0r 17! And I have no kids! (which should be obvious since I just mentioned that I slept in until 9)

Lots to do today, but I will check in here with you all.

For those unfamiliar with poutiine - here is some interesting reading:
http://smokespoutinerie.com/Menu.aspx
Make sure to click on the different meat groups on the left side, to expand the menu.
Not traditonal, and I'm sure franky and bluebird will chime in, but very yummy (and fattening).
BTW Costco's up here serve poutine at their 'deli', or whatever you call it. But it isn't very good at Costco.

Hi Ladies, long time reader/first time poster here, all the way from Australia.
Was just catching up here before heading to bed (12.20am here) and had a bit of a giggle when I saw the link for Kate's runway gig. I noticed one of the other models for the show was AJ, and saw today Kate tweeting with her.
I am not sure if you know who she is, but she was Australia's version of Kate, ex-reality star, eternal fame-ho and would also attend the 'opening of an envelope' if she thought cameras would be there.
She left Australia under a 'cloud', stating she was going to the US to become the next Oprah.
So, I guess Kate is in 'good company' there.
I am sure she will get her hooks into Kate, new BFF's perhaps.
I do love your wonderful country, an try to get there every year, last year we spent 3 months 'road tripping' from NY to Florida then up the middle to Canada and this year spent 6 weeks in California, still plenty more to see yet, but we will get there.
have fun on our trip ladies, and I will leave you with a link to an article on AJ from a few years ago...she is Kate's type of girl.

OOPS! Posted this on the wrong thread so I'm reposting (and hope that I'm not repeating anything anyone has said above).

Kate is on a twit frenzy this morning. At approximately 0800 she tweeted: "It's a 'numbered' 2do list 2day..aka I have more 2do than X on the clock! So then, why am I sitting in bed under my warm blankets w a coffee?" A couple of tweets later Paige asked her how the bus routine went and Kate countered with "hope work is going well" yadda, yadda, yadda and never answered the question (so I guess we know now that she didn't have the kids). About an hour later someone who'd been tweeting with her said that staying in bed would be their little secret and Kate replied "I know! I love this little quiet part of the day... My soft bed and warm coffee treat me just right :)"

Someone told her she should be a talk show host and Kate replied " girl! Talk shows are a lot of work but I DO have so much to say and what a platform to help others! Would be SO rewarding!" (I'm sure she does have a lot to say about me! Me! ME!)

When asked about a dating show she said " I'd do one if the creative worked for me yes.... Think it would be a light fun adventure! Life's short; laugh a little, right?" (translated to, so far no one has picked up my proposal to do a dating show). And finally, when asked about doing specials like LPBW she said " sorting thru it all.. Not out of realm of possible :)". Poor Kate, I think that she's realizing that no one is interested in her.

I probably only saw a portion of her morning tweet fest. She was insufferable. No way she isn't BRAGGING with a na-na-a-boo-boo to her "fans". She types from her comfy bed with warm nightstand coffee. She isn't trying to hide that she has no child responsibilities this morning. Her busy day is the average morning for any woman who is upright and breathing.

I think Administrator has a spot on speculation -- Jon has the kids and will have them until after her NY event. I add a guess that much of her numbered activity is packing and preparing for her fashion trip.

She is a STAH again this week. She is her own worst PR enemy.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It seems rather disruptive for the kids to go to Jon's while Kate runs the Wyomissing marathon then go back to Kate's only two days later to go back to Jon's AGAIN for her to go do the fashion show. It makes sense for their own stability that Jon has the kids until all these little gigs are over.

I've tried adding grilled chicken to my poutine and loved it. I only eat poutine around 2X/yr. as it's very fattening, I eat it when I need comfort food.

I'm with others here who thinks that Kate's 10-12 things on her to do list today is getting her suitcase, hooker heels and everything else ready for her fashion show.

AmyF, I live on the southside but work on the north very close to Blue Ribbon. Not a fan of "smoke" so I don't eat their often but folks I work with love them. There is usually one or two people eating it at lunch.

CCMama, yes I referenced the cookie. Lived here my entire life and enjoy the different villages that we have. I used to go to Onset when I was a kid but some folks probably don't consider that the Cape because it's before the bridges.

8-10 hours sleep! Imagine that!

Tell ya, Kate, you got it easy! You don't have to cook, clean, do laundry, or watch the kids. You have time to exercise multiple hours/day, and whatever the h*ll else you do, like "help others" (yeah, like I believe that one!)

I'm married, kids grown and gone. I work *full time*. Up at 5:30am. Out of the house by 6am. Work til 3:30pm.
Monday & Wed go to daughter's house to watch kids while she goes to her second job. Do that til 8pm.
Tuesday's I have violin lessons and quartet practice til 9pm.
On Thursday evenings I volunteer at the homeless shelter in town until 10pm.
Friday's the quartet performs (for free) someplace, usually at assisted living places.
Every other Saturday I watch my son's kids all day while they both work.
Sundays are for cleaning/cooking at my own house.

By the way, Kate, I cook from scratch for me/husband, and the grandchildren when I'm there. This does NOT mean cake mixes, dumping together a bunch of canned goods, or dumping a mix into the bread machine.

I also plan activities for the kids when I'm there. I try to keep things well-rounded for them. Sometime we do something musical, other times something athletic, sometimes we do experiments of some sort, or we go on nature walks.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I'm also a hospice volunteer for overnights. That's when someone is close to passing on, and the family doesn't want them to be alone. My job is to stay awake and be with the person, holding their hand, singing, praying, doing whatever is needed. Sometimes that means just sitting quietly with them.

You might notice that nowhere in that schedule is there "me" time for many hours/day. There's no time for me to go running 3-4 hours/day. There's no time for me to drive hours away just to get my hair cut.
You might also notice that there's not time for 8-10 hours of sleep, either.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I know some people require more sleep than others but shouldn't a 37 year old adult female typically only require seven to eight hours (if they can manage to get it)? 10 hours seems AWFULLY high. I don't think my body would let me sleep that long even if I wanted to.

I also agree with I think Bearswife who said 16-17 hours is more of a typical day than 14.

There's no way anyone can sympathize or relate to her anymore. I don't buy it.

Menopause...

After the birth of my youngest child, I jumped right into peri-menopause at the age of 36. Anxiety, insomnia, heavy bleeding, some hot flashes. 10 years of that, each to varying degrees. I "achieved" full menopause (absence of menses for 12 consecutive months...made it to 11 and had to restart my count!) about 4 years ago at age 47.

I found the Christiane Northrup book helpful (saw her on Oprah), not all applied to me, some was too new wave. But it made me feel better to read the stories of other women and see bits of my experience.

Everyone's journey is a bit different but equally important!!

I hate to admit this but I require 10 hours of sleep- yes- require. I dont feel optimum unless I get that. Not all at once, though, I can go for 7 at night, and then a nap or two later. DOnt ask how I accomplish this w/my full days of work and school, I often dont and I am exhausted most days. I work with another gal who is the same, 10 hours, but she survives on 8 most days, dang military schedule keeps us from our sleep!! When I was deployed I barely got 4-6 hours of sleep a night, some days not even that. I survived. But yeah, some people do actually function and feel at their best with more sleep. I dont know why. I also function better at certain times of the day- I am an early bird- by early I mean 0400-0600 are my best hours to get out of bed to go to work. Anything later and I feel like a lazy bum. On the other side f the coin, I also work with people who can only sleep 4 hours night, that's all they need. Humans are intriguing creatures.

Can I join you, Grandee? I'll have my hubby drop me off. Oh, I think we should throw those beads and hire a second line band to play us out of the Quarter. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Funny how Kate's fans seem to know exactly what she wants them to say, when she wants them to say it. In one conversation, her fan throws out the possibilities of a talk show, dating show, and specials. How very convenient for Kate, now that no "real" talk shows will have her on to push her own agenda.
TLC specials? Comparing K+8 with LPBW, did LPBW ever get ratings as low as K+8? IIRC, K+8 bottomed out at 680,000 viewers once. I don't think LPBW ever dropped that low. And how long after LPBW stopped filming did their specials start? Was it a full year, or less? And the folks on LPBW have new things going on--kids going to college, going out on their own. With Kate, it's just the same old thing. What's to update?
I find it ridiculous that she keeps putting the same old ideas out there time and again. It didn't work before, and it won't work now. Why doesn't she just give it up and move on? Is she really that stubborn that she will hide under the covers and refuse to come out until someone shoves a camera in her face and pays her a few million, even if waiting is financially detrimental to her family? Sadly, I think the answer to that is Yes.

The monument says ”Here lies Mother Featherlegs, so called because in her ruffled pantalets she looked like a feather-legged chicken in a high wind. She was a roadhouse ma'am. An outlaw confederate, she was killed by ”Dangerous Dick the Terrapin” in 1879.”
Somehow visiting a monument to a hooker seems appropriate for this road trip!

And what is weird is that she proudly complains about it. She has no comprehension of what is usual and common in the world.

Remember in the first special she proudly announced that she just doesnt get up until 8 AM "I am just too tired" and I couldnt help but wonder about 8 hungry children, 6 of whom were wet, cold, and crying. But Katie just refused to get out of bed. No wonder she is so angry with Jon, it never occured to her she would have to lift a single finger she didnt chose to lift. It was supposed to Jon's job to tend the kids and Katie's job to lay in bed and get tea and sympathy and sticky note pads.

I still say she was raised in a cave by bats and lizards and that is why she doesnt comprehend what is usual and normal in life.

Her complaining about her pampered life is really showing how many wires are missing in her brain. I am not being altogether snarky here; something is wrong with her.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Is it my imagination or is this lack of custody thing going into it's 3rd week? It certainly has been nearly 2 weeks already, hasnt it? Could they be doing 2 weeks on/2 weeks off? A month on/ a month off?

Or has kate lost all semblance of physical custody all together? Are the kids with their dad now full time with Kate getting periodic time with them? It would explain their recent outbursts about money; why Jon felt the need to say something in public and kate got extra greedy after the blogging conference. Is Kate paying Jon child support? Which would be insane since she has zero income of her own merit and lives off the children's money.

Does Kate have her extensions on? Her hair is longer than the last 'marathon' so she must? I think her arms look well-toned, legs, not so much, which is odd with her being a runner and all...the top she chose is also odd for running gear.

I know some people require more sleep than others but shouldn't a 37 year old adult female typically only require seven to eight hours (if they can manage to get it)? 10 hours seems AWFULLY high. I don't think my body would let me sleep that long even if I wanted to.
______________

I don't see why she sleeps that again unless she's lying of course.

I mean what does she do all day that requires her to sleep 10-12 hours?

Maybe she's on some kind of meds and that's why she sleeps so long/late.

As everyone can tell from all of my posts, this morning, I have nothing to do today but relax! I suppose I could find something to do, like wash windows or something. However, I decided after last week's activities with my boys and all the BUSY stuff I had to do when I got home Saturday and yesterday, I'm just going to be lazy before the old daily grind starts tomorrow!

I am baking bread, NO LIE!! in the bread machine. No mixes and no quick rise either.

Loaves of banana bread and some zucc bread in the oven today, with more to do tomorrow or whenever the weather cools again. And today, my usual vacuuming. I miss my kids often, but I do love being an empty nester.

Formerly Duped, I think Kate still gets extensions or wears clips from time to time. Her hair is really not working for her. The stick-straight hair curtains pulls her face down and makes her look like Shrek.
Kate looked great with side-swept bangs and shorter length.
I think it's another instance of her lack of awareness. I can not imagine her hairdresser recommending this look--it's got to be her idea of what looks good on her.
Admin and a few other sage folks here, you totally called it. Kate was never going to release her iron grip on those kids when filming. Now that the show's over, Jon has tons more custody. I'm really happy for the kids. Jon's a great dad and he will definitely let them relax and be themselves. No matchy matchy when they're with him.

Kate has a new CC blog post titled "Kate’s Tips for Saving and Splurging". It's just a rehash of how she saves money on shopping, using coupons, shopping online, buying store brands, etc. Blah blah blah.

She says how buying(splurging)on an "industrial" meat slicer and a bread maker also saves money.

She explains how shopping at "discount grocery stores" saves her money. Of course, she doesn't name the store-but she says:

"My two newest (near) obsessions include shopping at discount grocery stores for all organic items and paying ridiculously low prices. Sure, the expiration dates are moments away, but in our house, food only lasts moments so that is never a worry.

It's just a rehash of everything she has written or tweeted before. Looks like she's running out of ideas about what to write about.

To sum it up in 3 words:

Lather-Rinse-Repeat.

If (big if!) Kate is not lying about being so tired every day, I think it is because of nutritional deficiencies. Her diet is sorely lacking in iron and she imposes ridiculous restrictions on what she eats, moreover, they make no sense at all.
I don't think she hates pizza, rather, I think she sees it as a "fattening" food item and eschews it completely. Of course there's no basis for this, other than labeling any carbs or fats as "bad".

It's an easy "from scratch" recipe that I *believe* starting with the folks from America's Test Kitchen. You can google it and there are a few variations. Here's a link that reflects the Cook's Illustrated original recipe:

LOL. Dwindle, you always make me smile. And I couldn't agree more! I'm a night owl - for better or worse, I rarely am able to fall asleep anytime before midnight, and usually it's closer to 1:00 a.m. But morning still comes around requiring that I be up and at 'em by 6:30 or 7:00. After a busy week-end, I stayed up til nearly 2:00 a.m. (last night? this morning?) and the alarm went off at 6:00. I'm hurting, sitting at my desk trying to get as much work done as I can before I become a complete zombie.

This blog is indeed a wild and wooly ride. I want to compliment those posters who have responded very agreeably to some other posters who want to disrupt us, stir up trouble, or otherwise be disagreeable. Very well done!!

I am in California already, so I will miss out on the crazy fun ride everyone else will have on their way out here. That's probably for the best, since I always call shotgun lol.

It's a shame Kate can find time to promote Bella Bars, but could post nary a word about her participation in the Special Olympics run. To me, it's the little things like this that show her true character just as starkly as the appalling things we saw displayed when the show was still on tv.

Kate splurges all the darn time. 1.2 mill house anyone? A gigantic slide for the salt water pool, hello? More shoes than Imelda Marcos? Traveling to NYC to get her lid don?
Making you own stuff is great, but it's not free. You don't save $3 making your own bread. You save, but not the entire cost. How dumb is this woman?
I'd also love to hear a breakdown of just how much meat Kate has to slice before she even begins to see savings.
Slice away, Kate. It's going to take a looooooooooong time to recoup 500 bucks.

Dwindle I've been wondering if Kate might quickly get used to not having the kids as much and decide she likes it so much Jon can have them. I think it's certainly gotten to the point where she's realizing she can't make much use of them anymore.
* * * * * *

Exactly. I think several factors are involved in Kate's agreeing to 50/50 custody:

1. As you mentioned, Kate is probably finally starting to accept that she won't be able to pimp those children out to make big bucks for herself. Thus, they have "lost value" to her and we have all seen what Kate does when people in her life are no longer useful to her in one way or another -- they get shown the door.

2. Kate was very angry at Jon for quite a long time. She didn't want to be married to him, and she even was arrogant enough to think she didn't need him for the show to continue to do well with viewers. So the divorce was her idea -- but the result was that when viewers were "treated" to Kate as a solo act, they changed the channel. I think subconsciously, she blamed Jon for Kate Plus 8's cancellation. In punishment for his supposed crimes, she took every opportunity to talk him down in public and otherwise hurt him, including withholding access to his own children.

3. Now that Kate is no longer even getting child support from Jon, I think she will resent spending money on her children more than she already does. For the children's sake, I really truly hope Jon ends up with full custody. I think she would have already turned the kids over to him except she does realize that her one remaining claim to fame is being a "mother of 8." That's why she is so coy when any of her fans ask on Twitter about her custody arrangements. She knows enough not to lie outright, but if she admits she only has custody 50% of the time, how will she be able to justify her continued refusal to get a real job, even a part time one? She doesn't work, she doesn't seem to have a regular volunteer job, she doesn't seem involved in community activities, and she isn't the spokesperson for any charity or company -- so just exactly what does Kate do with all her free time?

Sweet Tart said...

--------------

In my area, we have a discount grocery store called Grocery Outlet. You can also buy some food items at the Dollar Tree or Dollar Store. But I've never seen organic items at any of these places. Most people who buy organic accept that these items will cost more, because they are being produced by local smaller local farmers. I'm willing to pay more to support a local business and to get organically produced food.

Do people respond to Kate's CC blog posts? I feel like Kate probably types of some sort of outline and sends it over to CC, where an employee is paid to clean it up, flesh it out and post it for her.

Kate touts that cooking organic chicken breasts and roast beef and then slicing it on her industrial slicer saves money over store bought sliced deli meats. I don't really see how.

She still has to purchase the meat, and then there's the cost of electricity or gas to run the oven to cook the meat. Then of course, you add in the cost of the slicer plus the electricity to run that.

There are a lot of other costs involved that she doesn't seem to take into account.

Actually I've been meaning to ask a few really OT questions about menopause as most ladies here are older, retired, ya know! j/k. Anyone take HRT? Are hot flashes really awful? What else 'goes" I've been reading about it and talking to people as I'm sure to be starting it at some point before long! (late 40s)

* * * *

LOL - Okay, this is my last post for awhile as I must get back to work. This blog is hard to leave :)

I am 50 and started having what I call "serious" menopausal symptoms between 9 months to a year ago. For me, they consist of hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, and mental fogginess/trouble focusing. I stopped having periods about 5 months ago, so I guess doctors don't consider you truly menopausal until you've missed a full 12 months. I don't have (yet) a mustache growing in or hairs on my chin, etc. but I've heard from friends that they had that happen to them.

My doctor pushed for me to try natural methods of dealing with the symptoms, rather than HRT. So I took his advice, got some herbal formulation from the local health food store, and it made my symptoms WORSE, to the point where I hated my life. Thankfully, once I threw that bottle of pills out, my symptoms subsided back to merely miserable.

Advisory: I'm not a nurse nor a medical professional. I'm not recommending this product, but merely sharing that I found something that has helped me out. It's called Pro Gest and I buy it from Amazon. No prescription needed. It's a cream that you put on (a little dab) morning and night. I went from having hot flashes all the time, to having them perhaps once or twice per day, and to a lesser degree. I still have some mild night sweats, but again -- less often and less intense. I truly love this stuff. I have noticed no side effects. It also helped with vaginal dryness to some degree. (Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that? I love you Mother Nature - but come on!)

I complained about the hot flashes and my doctor did some tests that show I'm now iin menopause...FML! Luckily our winters are mild so my husband just puts on a sweatshirt in the winter because he knows that the temp in the house isn't going past 73! When I start waving my hands to fan myself the family joke is for everyone to yell "IT'S JUST YOU!" as in "is it hot in here or is it just me?". I only occasionally get night sweats so I guess I'm lucky in that respect.

She got rid of it about a year or so after she bought it.

NJGal, I hear ya' about those hot flashes. However, I'm so sorry about the circumstances that brought yours on.

Flashing like a cheap neon sign - lololol!!!! Luckily since I started on the HRT, I don't have the night sweats anymore. However, it could be because of our sleeping arrangements! I have to have fans when I sleep, 3 of them to be exact. The ceiling fan, a box fan at the side of the bed, and a small fan on the night table.

All the fans helped me get a good night's sleep, but they really interfered with the hubby's sleep. Therefore, I started sleeping in the spare bedroom that our grandkids use when their here. This way we each get a good night's sleep. I was embarassed about this at first, but I found out from friends and co-workers that many of them use the same sleeping arrangements the hubs and I do.

By the way, 73 in the winter would kill me! Our heat never goes above 68 degrees unless the grandkids are here. The hubs just throws on a flannel or a sweatshirt and I'm so grateful he does!

At first it was hard for me, and still is sad-feeling sometimes; everyone talks about all the activities they get to do etc. But for us, it is about blissfully being alone, eating what and when we want, doing as we please when we please it. Are you loving just answering to yoursleves? And why shouldnt you! It's a great time of life!

With all the kids out of town though, holidays are not as joyful as I wish, and also we have no one to stay here with the dogs anymore when we want to get away. i will NOT kennel them. My two youngest used to take turns staying even for 2 weeks while we went on vacation but now that doesnt work out anymore. So I have to admit, that we love being empty nesters SOOOO much, that even our fur babies are crampin' our style.

No one panic, my beloved pups arent going anywhere!

NT, that's what I mean. It's more common than I ever thought and I keep reminding the hubs of that!

So All the times Kate is traveling away with Steve thee body guard.

Who do the sheep think are keeping the kids?

Are they that brainless or just to far up Kate's tanned-azz to see the truth?

"I HAVE to have the fan on to sleep. When we moved into our house, there were zero ceiling fans (not even a light fixture) so that was I think, the very first thing we did to the house. A fan in every bedroom."

&&&&&&&

What is it about fans? I can't sleep without one and it has nothing to do with keeping it cool in the room, or circulation of air. I have gotten so used to the background noise that I can't go to sleep without it. I don't know what I'll do if and when it dies, because I don't think I'll be able to find one set on the same noise level!

If I was Ted or Jason I wouldn't stop doing Kate's hair.

If she's willing to pay thousands I would keep on doing her straw/weave as long as I could.

Lynn W., thank you and a big thanks to your son for all he is doing to serve our country. I'm sure that's a hardship on his family.

Now, you get on the phone and let the family know they are required to let Nana know about all of these games!

******
I tell ya, if they are giving her free or really discounted hair treatment, Kate's got no conscience. They've been doing her hair for years. I'd have some sort of guilt knowing that I was taking money out of their pockets.
Who does this?

Dwindle - When we travel we take our bully up to our son. He's only 3 1/2 hours away and when he moved out after college and got a job we told him that he needed to get a pet friendly apartment so that his "brother" could come and stay with us. We're both still working so we don't travel all that much yet and if we're going for a weekend in NM or something we take the bully with us and pay the pet fee. He's a good traveler. We've never had a problem with him in a hotel. We never give his weight when we travel becasue he could be considered to be a small/medium dog because he's only knee high, however, his chest and head are so broad that he weighs 78 pounds. Once the people at the desk get a look at him they never say anything because I guess that they don't get that many English Bulldogs as furry guests.

Parent in Lancaster County said: "For everyone in Amish country. Don't forget TLC's Breaking Amish tonight at 10. It's a 10-episode series, but from what I can tell, it's not really a Rumspringa because they go off and leave their homes to live somewhere else. With Rumspringa, the youth live at home while they do their thing. It looks like a good series. We'll see!"

I'll have to wait for it to come out on Youtube - no cable tv at our house (just cable internet).
Do you go to the auction at Root's? I haven't been able to go this summer - it's been too darn hot for me. I'm hoping to go a few times this fall! :)

My most recent splurge was an industrial grade meat slicer. By roasting and slicing my own organic chicken and beef roasts into lunchmeat instead of buying it from the deli, I save major bucks! And the cycle repeats itself, because my splurge that helps me save on lunchmeat is the beginning of planning my next splurge. Got it? You can do it, too!

This woman is certifiable.
yep, all moms need a commercial meat slicer. what a dolt.

NJ Gal and Love My Grandsons; your stories are appreciated as well. Wow, those hot flashes sound strong!!

Lilly: I was born in a 'larger' town ( maybe a small city now?) beginning with H! VH had no hospital.

I've been thinking about Milo and her walking.
Awhile back she was bedfast because of her bone disease. Then she had surgery - a hip replacement (implant). Then she was in a wheelchair, and then she started walking a little. She has mentioned trying 5K walk.

I think it makes sense. After hip surgery they put you in rehab, often right in the hospital or
hospital affiliated center. Then a therapist ccmes to the home a few days a week if necessary. They want you to walk increasing
distances until you are at a certain level, which you try to maintain.

I have read lots of Milo's tweets and she seems to have followed this pattern pretty closely. I
do believe her re: her health issues.
