Kate runs in San Diego Marathon

Well the half anyway. Discuss here.  She finished with her personal best time of 1:56:40.

Angie . . . at a time of 1:56 for a half marathon, she did not walk. She ran.

LisaNH, 194....Thank you. You said just what I think.

Any busy mom is entitled to her own time and interests. Kate, too.

It is just the irony that nothing is too expensive for her and everything is too expensive for the children.

I'd like to echo what someone else said and ask how can you beat your personal record when you've never officially run that length of race before?

Sure, she's done them unofficially. But

Oh my God, I just had a severe moment of not caring about this anymore. Ha! Ok back to other stuff.

(Does that happen to anyone else? Are you ever typing here and just stop and think "why am I even doing this?")

Ingrid, I think it's crazy to let your granddaughter right her bike alone on a country rode out of sight of the house. Very dangerous.

As far as Kate goes I hope she is enjoying her time away. At least the kids do not have to listen to her. And may I ask what kind of mother does not allow their kids to participate in graduation?
************************************************

I'll answer that question. A 'mother' who needed to get on the road with her sleazy bodyguard. AKA a 'mother' who also stated "no one makes money off my/our kids but us/me" or something to that effect. If she had let the twins participate in graduation, there would have been all sorts of people around her who did not pay for the privilege and they would have been taking pictures of the twins. Gasp!! The very idea--unauthorized pictures of the twins out there. And she wouldn't have made any money off of the pictures!

Ok, rant over.

Today's lone tweet ("GM!" at 11:30 a.m. PST?) more than suggests she's not on her way home. As for "recovery," well, we know she's been training pretty hard (last week she claimed to have run 10 miles in 1:30, and she surely must be doing that distance a couple of times a week), but why would an additional 3 miles have added much in the way of pain or fatigue? No, it wouldn't. You don't need to invent some "excuse," Kate, for staying away from your kids for a fifth or even sixth day. Everyone now is quite clear on your M.O., so no one will be surprised.

Aggiemom, now that you mention it, I could certainly see her getting something done. She was finished in SD yesterday well before 10 a.m. local time, easy enough to run up to L.A. and treat herself to a "nip/tuck" or two. She certainly doesn't seem to be on her way back yet.

So now Kate didn't allow her twins to participate in graduation ceremony?

I must have missed something.

Given the running joke here about the six sheeple who lives for her tweets, and this is for anyone who reads her Twitter feed, how many people (guestimate) do you think follow her on a regular basis.? You know, when she thanks everyone for their love and support, who is the audience.

SG said...

Buddy,
I disagree. I didn't try to find out anything. I came across a tweet mentioning it and I shared it.

I personally am not trying to find out where they are right now or who they are with, nor did I try to find out what beach they went to (although the FL beach comment did surprise me.)

If you consider mentioning someone said they went to the beach "stalking" then we definitely disagree.

This article reads very tongue in cheek, does it not? It's got as many rules as GWOP. "Integrity"? It's a tshirt for gosh sakes, lol. If it's not tongue and cheek, all I can say is thank goodness I hate running. Too pretentious about a flipping tshirt. In any case it says significant others can wear event tshirts--so, phew! that's Steve. No rules broken.

NT said...

According to Milo,Kate might be on her way home because Milo said to enjoy flying the frendly skies on hm and soon she would be in the house full of giggles. Don't know what hm means but she may be on her way home. I don't understand why she is sore either since she says she runs 10 miles a few times a week. I'm sure she stayed for the afterparty last night. Can't pass up a free party and free booze even if it's not for the children. She's already talking about the next run.

Having lived in a pretty rural area and a city, I can say I felt WAY more unsafe in the rural area. Even in the day time. I love the quiet but I feel like I was always locking my door. I always feel safer with people around. I've been traveling for over two weeks now and I've never felt safer. Actually, too safe. I'm surrounded by people constantly. Good people though!

By the way thanks for behaving while I've been on the road. The female version of "Steve" has been helping run the blog. My right-hand woman. She's done an excellent job!

SG . . . hoping that the kids get a vacation is one thing, but to try to find out who has them, where they are at, where were they at, etc.,to me is stalking the kids. Leave it alone already. Let the kids be. You have no reason at all to know where they are.
====
I couldn't agree more. I think keeping tabs on the mother, who wouldn't be any more noticeable than a pimple but for selling out her kids, and where she busily spends the money THEY made, was the original intent of this blog. If we don't know where the G8 are and what they're doing, that's a positive. I'd rather see the focus stay on Kate's piggish behavior.

Yes, the article about shirts is tongue in cheek (but loosely followed), and believe me when I say that I am so sorry I brought this up. My apologies.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

But anyone except the most deluded or ignorant can see her only priority is her. She can happy fart away on twitter about loooooooving her kids. Anyone can SAY things. Proof is in the pudding.

&&&

Bingo, end of story. Literally 100's of actions to her show just where her kids are on the totem pole.

It's not about one incident or two or even a dozen where she didn't put the kids first. It's about COUNTLESS. She doesn't put the kids first, period. This is just yet ANOTHER example of treating herself to a wonderful trip and leaving the kids in the dust giving them jack. One of dozens upon dozens of incidents.

What's that saying, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 100 times shame on me. Not falling for the sappy my kids are #1 tweets. The actions suggest otherwise. And given Kate's defensiveness, I think she knows darn well her children are not number one by any stretch of the imagination. She knows.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

No reason to be sorry to have brought it up, just didn't like the nitpicky thing about it....I mean, to say Steve shouldn't wear an event tshirt is REALLY getting nitpicky. I get uncomfortable with the best of them when we're that discerning.

Oops! I have only been here one day and I already have a hater! Just kidding, but I would like to respond to Sillimom. It's OK if you don't care about Kate and Steve that's your opinion and I'm okay with that. But I see it differently as a teacher I saw up close what divorce does to a child especially the very young. I had a kindergarten little girl who refused to come out of the closet for six months during an ugly divorce and that's what Kate made it, a dirty divorce. Why should she be given a pass for causing havoc on two families. Yes, I do care but that's just me! I lived and taught in the Bay Area maybe we lived close by. small world huh?

TLC stinks said...

Oh boy. She's recuperating because she "pushed herself". Sheesh. I can bet she and Steve are lounging by the pool today.

I agree that's normally it would not be our business about her and Steve except for how it affects the kids and his family, but she wants her life public and Steve's presence is a part of that. It's beyond silly that they still profess to be just friends. The only reason I can come up with is that she still wants to play the "single mom" card. The problem is that she is not independent but needs Steve to be her male "crutch" or "crush" or whatever. It was evident with Jon, and it's evident with Steve. Maybe I'm naive about such relationships, but as I wife I would find it intolerable that my husband was jetting off on vacations with a woman who obvivously wants to be the only companion his life. I know that I would force him to choose, and maybe that's already what has happened. So be it. But they need to stop with the lies. We are not dumb.

Yeah, Admin. I don't care if Steve had on the event t-shirt. I think Kate wore it because she knew there would be photographers around. She got what she wanted....publicity. The online tabs have picked up the story about her running with photos. I do love that ROL commented on Steve walking the whole way with her. And the comments following the blurb are negative except for one sheeple. Everyone is wondering why the bodyguard (er, pardon me, road manager) for a has-been. If she was still married to Jon, he'd be assigned the same task of carrying her pink iphone and water. She is royalty, after all (snark).

I'm in the camp that extra days in SD are for new/upgraded/refresher boobs. The one's she has now are huge.

It reminds me of the new starlets in Hollywood who improve their bodies to be beautiful for auditions. The hair, the makeup, the nails, toned body, the boobs. Got to have the package. The problem is Kate is not in her 20s. That ship has sailed.

Now don't get me wrong women who keep their bodies in shape are to be admired. Especially those who do with running a household and working fulltime. More power to them. Feel good about yourself.

But Kate, is about making an impression on strangers. Wow! You have 8 children? How do you stay in such great shape with all you have to do? So in IMO its time for a tune-up. One good bra to go, please.

I ran the Rock 'n Roll Dallas Half Marathon this year (I think it was in March) and they give out those shirts when you pick up your pre-race packets. They are by Brooks, they are comfortable and yes, they are tech shirts. I know a lot of runners don't wear them the day of the race, but it's a personal preference. Many of the marathon participants do wear them on race day. Also, if she is in any way affiliated with RnR, then she would have worn the shirt to promote the event.

As for her time, it's actually a very respectable time. She did really well. It galls me to say that, but she did better. If she hired a running coach like I suggested on here months ago, and she is actually taking her running seriously, then her times will improve. I commend her on a good half-marathon. I do wish we saw the same genuine smile on her face when her children were around and I'm confused about Steve's presence.

mamasan said...

I had an epiphany - Steve has to hang around Kate because he has been too high=profile to be a body guard. Steve needs the money. Who would actually hire him? Kate sends a fake threatening letter for a cover-up. If it was a serious need shouldn't Kate have contacted the police?

OrangeCrush said...

Look, Kate went from her daddy's house to her boyfriend's parents' house to marrying Jon and playing house with him. Her decision to divorce has set her adrift without adult company for the first time in her lfe. She thought the TLC crew would fill that void 4evah. Hence Steve, and due to whatever his own personal and odd famiy situation is, he cannot play house. BUT he can do that on the road. She is a pathetically needy tween herself, someone should send her a book on parentification.

TLC stinks said...

Letsthrowtomatoes, welcome. Like I said above, Kate wants her life public, and Steve is a part of it, so for me, it's open season commenting on those two. I agree with you.

In a normal situation, I would never gossip about such things, but geez, the witch wants to be photographed with Steve instead of keeping a low profile. Bottom line, I can't stand women like Kate who don't care about boundaries.

OrangeCrush (6), I think there's about 50 people, give or take, who are regularly talking about her on Twitter or elsewhere. Out of those, maybe a dozen are around every single day.

Re Kate & HspncElvis, given all the banter back and forth on Twitter over the past year between them, I think he expected she'd at least sit down and grab a cup of coffee (or a beer) with him. Instead he got a few minutes and a couple of photos. She and he talked endlessly about going to PF Chang's together (it's the lettuce wraps). Proving, once again, that who she pretends to be on Twitter is nowhere close to who she really is.

In the zimbio photos she looks proud of her accomplishment. She should be. Maybe this will translate into an understanding for her -- push yourself and really do something and you feel GOOD!

No fake organizing. No minimal effort. No exaggerating to impress someone else.

Genuine effort! (Like a job.) She can keep running in marathons closer to home and get the same boost without all the expense and time away from the kids.

Maybe she can take this "confident" feeling home with her and relate to Jon and the children a bit differently.

The animation in her face makes her look healthier and, yes, prettier.

No I will never believe anything about that woman. As someone said "her best time" when did she do a half marathon before? Was the Vegas full marathon also lying?
Let me hear from a reporter who filmed the whole race.
How many sponsors did she have to raise funds for the charity she was running for? Zero, of course.

Yep I think I am wasting my life even reading about her. Give everyone my best but I have to also walk away. This is horrible of me to walk away from some very nice people who have the children's best interest at heart and I respect that. But Kate? I cannot, even if paid, believe anything she says or pretends to do. I will never believe her just like Guiliana Rancic didn't during their many interviews that is why she called an overly tanned woman Kate Gosselin on Fashion Police. Kate has no one in that business who has interviewed her believing her. She will end up on the Bachelorette and also DWTS again for ratings, but with the Bachelorette? Steve will be there so no one French kisses this icy over the hill liar.

How come when she's home, on an almost daily basis, she states how "exhausted, tired, etc" she is-BUT she runs a half-marathon, and she's not complaining one bit? Is it because it was something she actually enjoyed doing as opposed to being a mother to her children?

I'm sure once she gets home, the complaining will begin again.

By the way, her CC blog is all about the tups birthday party with a few tips on how to save money throwing a party. She actually said she used eVite to send out invitations, which I find sort of tacky.

When this whole Gosselin stuff started the sheeple and hater's were (imo) far more reasonable. Now the love vs. hate has morphed into something creepy.

Both sides should show some restraint and good old-fashioned manners. We have this blog to dis(cuss) Kate from our point of view. The sheeple have their own sites. Why is it so hard to stay away from people and places where you aren't wanted?

Twitter is the best example of the decline. Both sides act like bully know-it-alls and would be mortified if their real life friends and families saw the awful things they post. It's like a group of rival middle school gangs. Stupid and ugly. The haters need to leave Kate and her fans alone. I say this as someone who can't stand Kate but believes in setting reasonable boundaries.

We have THIS great blog to voice our opinions with like-minded individuals.

About the T-shirt topic- it's the same for concerts- you NEVER wear the concert t-shirt AT the concert- how lame! No true fan does that!

Anyway, Kate did look proud in her pics with the medal. It's nice on the one hand, I am all for anyone reaching their goals, but it sure would be nice if her KIDS could experience that happiness in life. Admin has said it numerous times- Kate is stunted emotionally- she starves for attention and acceptance like a child. She never matured past that stage into a mature adult full of self-confidence. Now her children have to do without because of it- not materially, but emotionally. They do not get to be on teams or have hobbies or strive for goals that will get them the attention they need.

----
Agreed! Furthermore, I am glad to see that Kate appears to be experiencing some joy in what she is doing--hopefully, her good mood will carry over to her kids. Her grim face and posture must be effecting the G8, and it would be nice if she could try to relax a little and enjoy life.

I have to give her some kudos for setting a reasonable goal for herself because I think that it shows a little maturity on her part. She respected her own limitations and reduced her expectations for herself accordingly, and, that is the first healthy boundary that I have witnessed.  Maybe reality is setting in, maybe not-time will tell. She is just about as gone as someone can be, given social networking and the preponderance of blogs.

If the kids get to be with Jon more and he takes them for normal family activities, then why care if she is gone? As I have said before, she is hardly the only undeserving pig at the trough --I'm content to let karma deal out the consequences for her misdeeds and selfishness. She is a bitter and unhappy person , and soon, she will be an asterisk, a footnote and a punchline--like so many 'stars' before her.

I know that this is not a politically correct post for this blog and I respect that others aren't done with her yet. As someone else has pointed out, once a nurse, always a nurse--even one that is an Ex-Nurse. My compassion for Kate--who is a very sick person--is slowly winning out over my loathing for her.

My self-diagnosis is that I have outrage fatigue. It has been a very long time coming,  I just can't keep getting worked up about her anymore.

Welcome back Admin!

Hello?

Yes, Mrs G...

I think it reminds people not to take themselves so seriously. It's all in good fun and when you think about it, in this case, it really is- it's a T-shirt. :)
Your hubby had good reason to wear his concert shirt- and I fear at my age, I would probably have to make the same decision- and I would wear it proudly while proclaiming the reason is my old age, LOL! (40, BTW)

Gee, none of Kate's 'friends and family' sent a congratulatory tweet..it was just a few 'fans'.
If that wasn't bad enough, she says she is feeling better the day AFTER her run...a week or so ago,she said she ran 10.something miles at home, and I don't recall her needing any recovery time. Seems like the day she ran that amt at home, she had an ordinary 'kate day'. SO, she's just having a little extra R&R with her handler.

And lastly, being an unemployed mom of eight with three cars, a huge mortgage, private school times 8, her own upkeep of hair, etc, a mom that can't afford gymnastics, 3-d glasses or a vacation for her kids, is eagerly awaiting her next marathon.
Gee, what a role model.

She's out of work and out of luck.

Snark aside.

She does seem genuinely happy with her accomplishments as a runner. I liked the post that was hopeful about her bringing this attitude home. I don't believe it will happen, she can't substain happiness.

I was doing gardening this afternoon. Yup, outside digging in the dirt, had the dogs outside all afternoon. Tomorrow, I paint wall with Kilz. THen do the final gardening, then start on removing the mulch, spray the crab-grass, fence it off, lay fabric weed stuff, put mulch back. Cut grass, later. Start some computer re-fresher classes. Fill sand in my punching bag stand. Possibly jumping rope. Maybe bike? Gonna be a long week.

Hard to see in the small photo but in the larger version he is either fiddling with his wedding band, putting it back on or taking it off.
Didn't know if anyone else had noticed this. I suppose he could just be fiddling with it but it seems quite far up near his knuckle if that's the case.
And if you are busy fiddling with your wedding ring how are you suppose to be able to fend off some uber fan?

I went over to Zimbio and looked at the San Diego pictures. I see pure joy on Kate's face as she crosses the finish line, the first truly honest photos I have ever, ever seen of her. Yes, the teeth are still too big, as are the boobs, but there is light in her eyes, and it is real.

So, she needs to take home what appears to be a true emotion, look at her kids, her blessed life and carry on with those same feelings of joy. The challenge of course is that she will fill herself with dread on the flight home with all that comes with the responsibilities of parenting.

Maybe, just maybe, the feelings she felt crossing that finish line means more to her than chasing fame. She ran those 13.1 miles on her own steam, she can build on that accomplishment and move forward as a caring, involved parent.

She can build a meaningful life based on her positive feelings through running. I know it is unlikely, but one can hope for the sake of her children.

She's Outta Luck! said...

Dontcha just love it when you see someone like her unemployed and begging for work?

Had she not been such a hateful cow, there would be opportunities.

We reap what we sow.

The unfortunate thing is I don't believe she's learned a thing. It's never ever her fault.

She's still trying to get her old job back, or something similar. She doesn't get it. She's untalented and unwanted. Her only "friends" are similar internet losers who have nothing better to do than play silly games.

I'm not one bit sad for her.

Kate, go home and take some of that happiness with you. Share it with yor children and learn to be happy. You're their mom, and your happiness will be contagious. Don't make an innocent child unhappy because your dreams didn't come true.

Kate is a Witch... YES.

Off topic momentarily- Kody Brown of TLC's Sister Wives was recently gifted a new Apple Laptop for his birthday, by his 4 (count 'em four!) wives. He was disappointed and said during that episodes 'Sofa Talk"-- "Getting a computer, means me getting a JOB." Unreal, the work ethic of these TLC Reality kooks.

Lastly... not only Kate Gosselin, but now Steve Neild need to get JOBS! Wow, Katie appeared to be walking in the Diego photos I saw. Kiwi was beside her, in her (large-curd Knudsen's) glory! So what's PB doing the rest of the year? And beyond 2012?

Kate is a Witch said...

Unfortunately if past behavior is a good indicator of future behavior, Kate is not going to take that happiness home to her kids.

Being home with her kids equals awfulness to her, no matter how much she tries to convince people on Twitter otherwise.

And.....now what?

The half marathon is over, about the only thing she's got lined up for the rest of the year. No cruise, no job, no nothing.

Now there's just a long long summer stretched out before her with kids not involved in activities because God forbid that would involve money and transporting them.

My prediction is she's going to try to escape the orphanage as often as she possibly can. And any way she can. Otherwise, girlfriend's gonna lose her mind more than she's already lost it.

Won't it be a year in August when the cancellation was announced?

I run as well. But I am just a beginner having only started in March, working my way from nothing to being able to run three kms as a regular run. As the summer progresses I hope to run 5 kms regularly and work on my speed. I've been thinking of doing a local 5K race for charity in the fall, if all goes well. There's an old railway line that follows the river close to where I live, and it's been converted to a bike path - that's where I run. The trees meet over the path and form a canopy - it's a lovely place. Yesterday I saw a deer nipping in from the bush onto the path in front of me and then it nipped right back into the bush.

Oh, anonymous. If any of those other mothers who traveled also claimed that they can't afford one darn movie on the weekend for their children, or summer camp, or gymnastics, then yes, as a matter of fact I condem them to.

*******
The kids just got out of school for summer vacation and the only "tradition" that Kate cares to propagate is her running far, far away from home. Not to mention that the kids just got of of school for summer and I'm betting that they got to kick it off with a nanny.
I also noted that no real (not Twitter) friends or family supported Kate's self-indulgent trip, spending the kids' money on herself. Very telling if you ask me (not that you are!). And if the twins can text her, why not tweet to their own mother to congratulate her?

*************
Uh, because they may not have Twitter accounts?

Why should they Tweet their mother to congratulate her, rather than texting or calling her? Is there a need for such a public display? I guarantee you that if that were to occur, people here would be bitching about the fact that she told her kids to congratulate her publicly to show the haters that her children are proud of her.

Exactly my thoughts. It was pretty obvious that that didn't work out. She should have just said at the time that the full length ended up too much for her, which is nothing to be ashamed of, or switched to the half back then and said she was going to work on adding miles over time. Would have gotten much more respect that way with honesty.

She has every right to be proud of this first actual marathon, and it shows on her face - a nice, natural, and honest smile. A look you don't see on her any other time, which is sad.

AuntieAnn said...

Those pics of her on Zimbio make her look goofy as hell. The grin and victory symbol are nauseating. I will not pat her on the back for finishing the half, she's doing a fine job of it all by herself. Whoopdedoo Kate. You're not competing in the Olympics so get over yourself.

I complimented her for allowing the twins to host the tups bday party and that's all my praise for Kate Gosselin budget will allow. As far as I'm concerned she took up running to get away from her kids, since the talkshow circuit and speaking engagments dried up. She found another way to travel without them, that's what this is all about.

Hello?
Look whoever you are, I told you to have the kids worn out when I called so there would be none of this whining at me on my time off. Did you keep them in the pool all day as the schedule said? Did you fill them up with raw vegetables and organic dip like I told you?
Yes, Mrs G...

I have seen many people cross the 1/2 marathon line, and the face is not fresh faced like Kate's is in those pictures. Look at the faces of the runners behind her/around her in some of those pictures.Their hair is sweaty, face is flushed or hot looking.

In fact, in a couple of the side views,. Kate's pony tail is perfect all the hair in place. Rather interesting for someone whose pony should have been bouncing side to side for 13 miles.

I smell a hoax...She said herself she had not practiced enough, so how do you pull off 13.1 miles, and don;t look like you ran a block?

Some people don't sweat as much as others when they run a half marathon. I ran one and looked pretty good crossing the finish line. I was all smiles, make-up pretty much the same as when I started. And I am a sweat-er. I believe Kate ran the race, no doubt about it. Sometimes I cringe with the conspiracy theories that she took a scooter or a bus to the finish line. She has too much to lose if she got caught. I give her more credit than that. But I have to laugh about her Runners World article when she talked about her marathon routine. She said she has to have her hair tied back tight and can't have it flapping around, it breaks her concentration. I guess she has changed her mind now that she has long, long glorious hair. It's her money maker, don't you know....

Totally off topic, but as a fellow [northern] Jersey Girl, I have to add that nobody from NJ calls the state "Joisy." That's a complete fabrication by Joe Piscapo on SNL -- and is actually a Brooklyn accent, not a Jersey accent. You-ins?? Never heard that one either. You's, definitely.

As for Kate, I hope she's heeding the Octomom travesty as a cautionary tale. It seems Nadia has hit rock bottom financially, and, in an effort to support her kids, is doing a topless stint at some strip club in West Palm Beach. According to her manager, the appearance is to publicize her new adult film. How sad that it’s come to this for her and her kids. The woman is clearly bat-sh*t crazy, and her unethical doctor allowed her to continue to birth kids she could not afford to care for. Such a sad story. Hopefully Kate really did squirrel away Jon’s and the kids’ share of the show's earnings, and really can continue to afford her exorbitant lifestyle. Otherwise, she’d better dust off that nursing license real fast and get her 13.1-miled-ass back to a real job.

************************

Anonymous, I’d bet dollars to donuts that the “mothers” who did travel to the SD marathon *also* run in their local marathons. The issue most of us have with Kate is that she calls herself a runner/marathoner, yet she never runs in races local to her area. The two she’s competed in have both been “destination” marathons in cities far away from her kids, with lots of fun, STAH treatment, lovely weather, and the Boobyguard. Real runners run in races close to home, as well as the bigger ones that they choose to travel to. Also, you make a huge leap in logic to say that disagreeing with Kate’s traveling for the marathon means we “condemn mothers who have interests outside of their children.” One has nothing to do with the other. Kate’s trip for the SD marathon was an unnecessary extravagance, especially given that she’s unemployed and claims she can’t pay for gymnastic lessons or a beach holiday for the kids. If she were serious about running, she’d do local events (of which there are PLENTY in the PA/NJ/NY/DE region). If she were serious about mothering, she’d spend her money on her kids, and not on frivolous travel for a ½ marathon she could have easily done close to home. The cost of that trip would cover a week at the beach for the kids – or, gasp, gymnastic lessons for all eight, count ‘em eight.

There she goes with saving money after just running a marathon across the country. Exactly our point.

Huh? Um, when you walk into the freezer aisle of the grocery store, Kate, all the flavors of each brand cost the same (with the exception of maybe a few specialty flavors) So say, if you by Breyers, no matter what the flavor--chocolate, vanilla, peppermint, peanut butter, moose tracks, strawberry, will all cost you 4.99 or whatever the going price. It does not "save" money to crush peppermint into it. It actually costs you more to buy the peppermint separate! Tool.

Also I have a great tip for saving a few bucks. Run a marathon in your home state instead of California.

I was thinking about her tightwaddishness (how's that for a Kate-ism?)... I'll bet she dips into the kids 15% cut from the reality show whenever it's something they need or want like a trip to BHI or CA. And further, she'll justify taking those trips with Steve only, going to the spa and all the other crap she wastes money on, by saying that's HER portion of the money which SHE earned from the show. I don't think she spends "her" money on the kids. If anything is bought for them it comes out of their pockets. She leaves them behind 1) to get away from them and 2) the G8 can't afford to go. And I can just hear her telling them to suck it up when she leaves.

We have her number and she continues her life true to form. Unless there's a tell-all book, she gets away with her lies. It's been frustrating for years but it's nice to vent here. I am gradually slipping away too as there are more important issues in life than following Kate Gosselin. Although she continues to exploit the kids, it's not to the level as when the show aired. At least that's an improvement.

'On Friday night, it was finally time for me to bake.'
(Kate, it's TWO cakes. TWO.)

"Both girls had requested a white cake with white icing. I committed to trying to fulfill their wishes, explaining that I’m not a professional baker and that my chocolate cake with chocolate icing is my only “tried and true” cake, but that I would do my best."

Kate, your kids are 8 and 10, you are almost 40, and you only know how to make ONE cake recipe? Gee, Kate, *I* am not a professional either, but I can make ANY cake, make lots of candies, breads, pies, etc, it's not rocket science! Just goes to show you how TLC did everything for Kate and her kids. She has no idea how to do anything.

"In the end, after researching white cakes and white icing online, (WTF?) I thought I was ready to pull this off. Understandably, I was nervous…okay, I was freaked out! I really wanted to make this happen for my girls."

Uh, Kate, you have BOYS,too!Kate just proved she is a a complete moron. She is an embarrassment to all moms everywhere. WHO 'RESEARCHES' this? I can see, maybe, looking for a recipe, but RESEARCHING? Gee, Kate, don't you have some of your mom's tried and true recipes? (Dang, if you invented the Flag Cake, surely you can whip up a simple white cake)
And WHO gets nervous making two white cakes? Anyone??

'The white cakes themselves turned out wonderfully, but then, there was the icing. I hate to admit that I attempted to create Cara’s Lego cake first and…I failed. The icing tasted great, but ran down the cake. So at the last minute late Friday night, we had to use lego decorated cupcakes as backup. I had let Cara down! : ("

Kate, here's another thought for the queen mother of everything organization-ish...since the kids were in school ALL DAY Friday, you should have made the cakes Friday morning! In case of a goof-up, you had time to correct it, instead of trying to do stuff the night before. Dang, Kate, novice bakers are better off just buying a cake from their local supermarket, it's less stressful, they are decorated nicely, and once you figure your cost of ingredients, electricity usage, clean up and your time, you probably spent about the same amount of time and money.
She must have really made a mess of that cake; I've seen bakers simply scrape off the bad icing and make another batch. Not Kate! Had to toss the cake and make cupcakes. (Why not make another cake??)

'Luckily, I had enough baking ingredients left to attempt a different white icing recipe for Mady’s cake an'

What? enough baking ingredients? I've never heard anyone refer to icing ingredients as baking ingredients..hey Kate, you don't bake icing! What ingredients is she speaking of? organic sugar? organic water? organic corn syrup? heck, it shouldn't be EGGS! (here's a thought, if she was making 7 minute frosting, it was probably that she cracked open ALL of her organic eggs and couldn't find ONE egg that only had an egg white in it!)

Kate's lack of cooking skills and unease in the kitchen show what a moron she is, it flies right in the face of her organic mom brand.

This year especially, I explained to them the importance of making a budget and sticking to it. I wanted them to help me plan the party as inexpensively as possible

...uh, is that because YOU had to pay for the party and not TLC??? Apparently TLC paid for everything, parties, trips, food, school, shoes, clothing, toys, hair, makeup, school supplies, to name a few.

Ok, so did the party on the cheap. Nothing bad about that, IF finances required it. But Miss Shrew flies across the country with a boy toy in tow, days ahead of the run, and apparently is still enjoying her monthly vacation. I don't see how running pays the mortgage or the school tuition. She isn't going to find a job in media. Kate, get over yourself and figure out your long term finances.

I'm sorry Kate how do you know how much the kids b-day party cost?

Haven't TLC been paying for their parties for the last 8 or so years?

Does a tea party for the little girls with food cost a load of money?

Does what ever you did for the boys cost lots of money?

I'm sure you got paid back since the pic end up online again.

Part 1
Our BIG birthday party (my six youngest turned 8!) came quick this year. Mady and Cara were inspired and came up with themes and ideas for parties for the boys and for the girls. They subsequently planned and executed the parties they had imagined, with little guidance from me!

Mady had the idea to have a tea party for Alexis, Hannah and Leah. She planned a menu of tiny foods, described the cake she wanted and planned the party events, including decorating tea party hats!

Cara wanted to plan and run the boys’ Lego themed party. She wanted to plan a scavenger hunt, do a candy Lego-building project and have a Lego shaped cake! She even added a piñata to the plan at the last minute.

I loved their enthusiasm and visions for the two parties so I gave them my blessing and got busy doing my part of the research and the planning. This year especially, I explained to them the importance of making a budget and sticking to it. I wanted them to help me plan the party as inexpensively as possible. The girls were happy to comply and began discussing their ideas to help us save money. Ahhh, girls after my own heart, I love it!

aggiemom09121416 said...

Part 2
Each evening since sometime in early April, after the little kids were tucked into bed, the three of us would gather in my room to hold our secret party-planning meetings.

Here are a few of our money-saving tricks:

We began brainstorming online, researching the best prices. We found that Shindigz.com was a wonderfully creative and affordable website. I often find great ideas, products and prices on Amazon, too.

In years past, I had always mailed invitations but with a bit of information and a few clicks, I saved on the cost of the actual invitations (and postage!) by using Evite.

To cut costs, I decided I would attempt to bake the two themed cakes (with the girls’ help) instead of buying them.

Finally, as RSVPs started coming in, we made just a few quick trips to the party store and craft stores for affordable odds and ends we hadn’t found online.

Soon, we were ready, and as the day approached, we began baking and cooking our tasty treats.

Mady created the menu for her tea party. She made mini heart, flower and star shaped sandwiches, butterfly crackers with veggie dip, homemade chocolate mousse and tiny Jell-O cups, just to name a few things from her seven course menu! I suggested we turn some plain vanilla ice cream into peppermint ice cream by crushing a bag of peppermints and mixing it into the ice cream. She loved the added touch. I loved it too, because it was yet another easy way to save money.

aggiemom09121416 said...

Part 3
Cara put together meat and cheese sticks with crackers, made Mommy’s ranch pretzels and chose chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

On Friday night, it was finally time for me to bake. Both girls had requested a white cake with white icing. I committed to trying to fulfill their wishes, explaining that I’m not a professional baker and that my chocolate cake with chocolate icing is my only “tried and true” cake, but that I would do my best.

In the end, after researching white cakes and white icing online, I thought I was ready to pull this off. Understandably, I was nervous…okay, I was freaked out! I really wanted to make this happen for my girls.

The white cakes themselves turned out wonderfully, but then, there was the icing. I hate to admit that I attempted to create Cara’s Lego cake first and…I failed. The icing tasted great, but ran down the cake. So at the last minute late Friday night, we had to use lego decorated cupcakes as backup. I had let Cara down! : (

Luckily, I had enough baking ingredients left to attempt a different white icing recipe for Mady’s cake and was able to create and decorate the exact cake she had envisioned. Phew! In the end, both girls were happy with the results. We were exhausted after our night-before-the-party preparation session, but we were ready! We all got up Saturday morning and followed our to-do list and the party was ON!

What a great day as we watched six happy little faces as they played with their friends and enjoyed a party put together by their loving big sisters (and overseen by Mom!) It was a joy for me to see eight happy kids come together to make milestone memories, while doing it affordably.

Check out some great offers below to help you save on birthday parties!

The children don't have to remember past birthday parties. They can watch them on DVD. Parties were complete with a pony and multiple friends and blow up rooms.

Now, she worries about the cost of six plus a handful of guests.

I think the twins planned some charming events. They deserve credit.

The vision of her up in the wee hours, in a panic over runny icing and "researching" white cake is just too dramatic.

Those children must be so confused sometimes.

well, at least she didn't run out of flour or baking powder...she should keep a can of pre-made frosting on hand if she knows she's not a good 'baker.' Could have saved that non-existent cake.

I don't recall what day her kids got out of school, but that's when her twitter behavior changed. I think she left that evening, skipped the graduation, and she won't be back until tomorrow or Wed. If Jon is exercising some sort of extended summer custody, she'll stay gone for a while longer.

Some of my kiddos go see their dad for extended summer visitation, and while they are gone I don't go on vacation. Although I miss them like crazy (but with constant texting, they aren't really 'gone',lol), I touch up paint on walls, door frames, baseboards..I tidy up junk drawers, clean out and re-organize closets and cabinets, clean ceiling fans and light globes, go through clothes for donation, clean the garage, shampoo carpets, clean mini-blinds, etc...
anybody want to help??
:)

As far as Kate being all smiles at the marathon, I believe she actually ran it, unlike the LV marathon which she didn't. No kuddos for it though, since that money spent on her trips could have been used to take the kids on a vacation. I bet she never spends a dime to take them anywhere. EVER.

This admission of 'letting Cara down' (I thought it was the sextuplets' birthday) with the failed icing is not going to do much for her credibility in the kitchen if it's a cookbook or cooking show she's after....I don't know why she made a few trips to party and craft stores plus on-line shopping- could have done it all in one trip, two stores. Didn't look like she had many craft supplies on those hats and Lego craft? Lego. A pinata.Tablecloths, banner. Etc. The pool was the big thing for the kids . 'If you have a pool, swim in it.' See?

Oh, and I agree with whoever said Evites are tacky and not fun for the kids- they love to fill out cute invitations.

Kate's problem isn't her baking skills. Her problem is that she doesn't bake at all so when she trys to make up these stories about baking a cake they don't make any sense at all!

Hey, Kate, you could actually have made the cake instead of having the not a nanny do it and THEN write about it. It would sound more realistic then. And you could call it "research" for your "job", cuz clearly just being a mom is not enough for you.

Dmasy: Just like Kates birthday of recent: Kate went to LV, she used the freebie ticket to the opening of that club as an excuse, to go to LV. I wonder if Kate has a separate room or does Kate & PB share, cause that would be a double expense, if not. But the kids she just blog on how cheap she can be for their, stay at home birthday. Looked for the cheapest party stuff Kate could find. Nothing elaborate, very simple. After seeing the pics, to me Kate put no effort into their party. Big whoop, she baked a tiny cake, even the food was tiny portions. Probably from what Kate already had at home. She most likely did not buy anything, except some party stuff on sale or on the bargin rack. At the party store, a lot of their stuff is cheap.

It also appears she made the cake, as it is not centered on the cake plate, lol.
I can't tell what kind of icing that is, if it's 7 minute frosting, she barely put any on there. Whatever kind of frosting she used, she needs to work on her icing skills. Not so pretty.

I hope the twins had fun planning. They deserve lots of credit!

NJGal51 said...

Kate - I've got a tip for you that you can use in your cookbook only if you give me credit; let the cake cool completely BEFORE trying to frost it. If you do this, the frosting will not melt and will not run. IF the frosting is a little too thin and begins to run down the sides of the cake, call it a glaze!

I'm not a baker, but I think I'd be able to tell if my frosting was too thin just by the way it dripped off the beaters. Add a little more powdered sugar and continue to beat until thick and creamy.

As someone said above (Pity?) how did you save money by getting rid of the entire cake and going to cupcakes rather than just correcting the frosting. My son once ate a dent (not qute a hole) in the center of a cake while it was cooling. Did I throw it away and start over? Nope, I just filled the dent with a little more frosting and it looked and tasted fine.

Yes, the twins were on a strict budget for the parties becasue Kate was paying. I seem to remember episodes of her at Party City where she just went up and down the aisles throwing things in the basket willy-nilly without a thought to cost. Of course this was on TLC's dime. So the morale of this story is, you get what you pay for. Sorry kids, the days of lavish parties and trips are over becasue your mom now has to pay out-of-pocket for you.

Please she carries on like all birthday parties for kids have to cost you and arm and a leg. They don't. Kids birthday parties do not need to be expensive. The only reason they are expensive is because either kids expect too much these days or the parents go overboard.

Since when does having a birthday entitle kids to be spoiled with yet again she had two birthday parties which I don't get. They turned 8 years old big deal nothing really even all that special about it.

If you have a party, well, then don't complain about the cost you just forked over to have it, duh. Simple as that. Decorations get used maybe once then get either lost or forgotten, you throw them away which is a waste of money, your kids get gifts they probably only play with for a week, they get broken or end up lost again a waste of money she whines about so much.

If you plan to spoil your kids Kate, do yourself and favor and keep the costs and your whining to yourself. My parents told me growing up that my birthday was just like any other day and it pretty much is the older you get anyway.

I'm probably harsh but I wasn't raised to celebrate every little milestone in your life. For a woman her age she sure has screwed up values of what's important. And to her that's money and never seeming to have enough.

She can throw money away on running in a race in another state but has the nerve to blog about how expensive, sounds like planning was time consuming to her on a blog meant to help people use coupons? Okay...I don't see the fit.

Just a quick share with all this b-day party talk.

My sis and I have the same b-day, but we are not twins (she's older than me). My parents had TWO parties, one each with our own friends and our own cake. It'd be on the Sat closest to our b-day. One year my party would be 1-3 pm, my sis party from 4-6pm, next year we would switch times. Our cousin stayed for both.

We NEVER thought it was a chore, never had any impression of how crazy that day must've been for our parents. It was our birthdays and we were given the chance to be seen as individuals and allowed to celebrate with our own friends.

It's what good parents do.

My kid's birthdays:

We have a family birthday dinner. Each bday child gets to have whatever they want for the meal, and their choice of dessert (a few times it wasn't even a cake, it was a cherry cheese pie).

For their kid bday (if they are still young enough to want one), that's reserved for a weekend. We serve hamburgers and/or hotdogs, chips, dips, and birthday cake. If it's a sleepover, morning breakfast includes toast, cereal,and/or donuts, apple or orange juice. (and, if they want it, birthday cake, too!)

My last two kids are twins, so for their family dinner, I prepare two separate meals AND desserts. Takes a little more time, but dang, it only happens once a year.
(This usually means italian food and a yellow cake with 7 minute frosting with coconut for one twin, and shrimp fried rice and a yellow cake with chocolate frosting for the other.)This past bday, this twin wanted to frost her own cake. She got so many crumbs in the frosting it looked like the cake had bad acne, but it still tasted great and she was proud of her creation.)

Kate, quit making life so hard. It's what moms DO.

I too was patting Kate on the back for showing a real emotion in SD thinking she may have had a breakthrough of sorts.

I live in Canada, and we are collectively horrified over the brutal murder and dismemberment of a man in Montreal by a psychotic, narcissistic killer. After mailing his victim's various body parts to federal government offices (for attention) this murderer fled the country for Europe.

Criminal profilers here had no doubt he would be caught early because of his obsessive need for attention, and that his narcissistic tendencies would be his ultimate undoing. Sure enough, he was apprehended in Germany at an Internet Cafe reading about himself online.

For a brief moment I believed Kate was running purely for the joy of it, but I am a fool for thinking that. Everything she does, EVERYTHING, is to garner attention for herself. No-one else factors in to her equation of her distorted life, and it took an extreme case of narcissism for me to see this. She will never change, her motives are clearly designed for attention every moment of the day. I thought that perhaps one day she would recognize her own selfish behavior, but it will never happen.....never.

She will continue to neglect her children in her quest to remain famous, and run roughshod over anyone who gets in her way. But, after this dreadful case in Montreal I realize there are far sicker people out there than Kate.

The irony of the cost-cutting for her children's birthday versus her extravagant expenditure on what is THE most elemental human athletic activity (running) is so stark, I wonder that she isn't getting vertigo from the hypocrisy. The "fitness" routine she has chosen is the cheapest going--all you need is decent shoes. But instead of couponing her way into marathon shape, which would be, ahem, "relatable" to her supposed audience, Kate just keeps throwing fistfuls of dollars at it.

I'll be around until the day she has cause to regret, publicly, having so frivolously squandered her own and her children's future on so vainglorious a "hobby."

I think she sits alone at night in her room, no friends, just twitter idiots and doesn't understand why she was cancelled. In her mind it *can't* be her fault and she blames others.

Sadly, she is so out of touch that she does think she's a good mom.

Until she can see the truth about herself she will not change. Recognition is the first step, but it requires looking at yourself and acknowledging what *you've* done wrong. She acts as if she was *entitled* to that job, and regardless of her actions they were wrong not to keep her. Wake up girl, and be prepared to grovel for even a mediocre job. The world owes her nothing but she hasn't accepted that yet.

Kate has been given so much, yet acts as if she has worked her fingers to the bone. When true reality hits, she will be forced to make some big changes. Trips to San Diego will not be affordable, nor will many of the things she takes for granted.

To me, it gives the impression of a ten year old mindset, not the "hot" blonde with the impressive rack. She really ought to get that thing removed. Kind of begs the question of if she's wearing "The Little Mermaid" underwear.

Kate NEVER even mentions her boys by name. And it was their birthday party. Of course, all 5 of her girls are mentioned by name. She infuriates me to no end.

And any idiot can read the back of a cake box bought at the grocery store. Duncan Hines makes great cakes. And none of the little kids would have known if she used a canned icing either.

And she wants us to believe it took every night of at least 30 days to plan this very simple party with her twins in her bedroom.

She is an idiot and makes everything way harder than it is. She is really that stupid or what. Maybe she can't fly to another city without Steve because she is truly an bonafide idiot.

TLC is on a blitz of promotion for shows. Seems like almost every other commercial is their own. (And, there was a two-page spread in People Magazine.)

TLC stars are standing in doorways of a multi-story building. Some of the featured shows are ones that shared time with Kate Plus 8.

Smiling reality celebrities are being showcased. Big deal...big time!

I have to wonder how Kate feels when she sees the attention being lavished on other TLC personalities. She got so left behind. Over. Done.

No more photo spreads and special treatment for HER. It has to be eating away at her selfish soul. She has to be thinking that she and her family would have looked fantastic in that ad.

I agree with She's Outta Luck. Until she recognizes that she contributed to her downfall, she has no hope of changing her life.

I do hope she manages to keep the sense of accomplishment from San Diego. Right now, it might be all she has to keep going.

OrangeCrush said...

San Diego is now old news; if she's still in CA, not a pic nor peep, so more old news. Now what?

It's early June, kids are home for a loong summer, cruise in August is cancelled, she has made zip plans for recreation/entertainment for them (no $$$ in that budget). Pool will be a huge bore by the 4th of July. Even if she has another run planned, been there, done that, no one cares.

Last summer she was still pretending to be the darling of TLC. Their cancellation of the show, no interest in specials, and their new summer promotion minus Kate, proves otherwise. She, and her 'brand' are dead to them, and pretty much the rest of the media world. I doubt even Coupon Cabin will be begging The Today Show for any air time for her in the near future after that last disaster.

Circling the drain slowly and steadily.

Does anyone watch Cake Boss? I really enjoy that show; those folks turn out some real artwork. They are talented and they work hard. And they love each other. Last night, Buddy had it out with his sister and her nasty behavior toward customers and employees in the shop and fired her. Her reaction seemed to be disbelief, because she'd been getting away with it for so long. What was ironic to me was that Buddy and his other sisters were all teary and upset about the fighting. Maybe she (Mary) was too, but it wasn't really shown.

Having a narcissistic mother of my own, it was telling that she obviously had not been called out on her crap before, and everyone else was on pins and needles, while she justified her behavior. It reminded me of when Kate asked Steve if he'd had some nearby campers delete their pictures and he said no. She just ground her jaw and said nothing because of the camera. Quite telling to me as someone who saw her mom lose her sh*t every time something didn't go her way.

You guys are making me sad! I only had two kids and their birthdays were so fun! I would ask them do you want me to bake a cake or buy you one
and they would say BUY! I would put on a sad face and say geez thanks! But actually I was glad cause we had the best bakery near our house. One of my kids always wanted a white sheet cake with strawberry filling /and cream cheese frosting! My other kid was a Halloween baby so Halloween decorations for him.

Birthdays and holidays are so much more fun when kids are little!!!

I agree Kate is not as bad as the monster that committed that horrific crime
But isn't that why she should stay home and protect her children from harm?
I never would have left my kids alone with a sitter especially in a house with not even neighbors near by!

Tomatoes: I agree about leaving her kids whose schedules she tweets, out there alone in the country- I have a feeling M and C will be doing the sole babysitting soon. I would not want my kids to be 'famous' for kidnapping risk although any child can be at risk. Kate does not seem to worry about them much.

PJs Momma: I have watched Cake Boss now and then- I find the episodes too similar. Amazing cakes ! One of their staff was charged with porn or something a while back?

I suggested we turn some plain vanilla ice cream into peppermint ice cream by crushing a bag of peppermints and mixing it into the ice cream. She loved the added touch. I loved it too, because it was yet another easy way to save money.

&&&

Tool.
**********************************

I was trying to wrap my brain around that too. How does buying a bag of peppermints save money? Why not just buy the flavored ice cream that you want? Unless of course Kate buys only the 5 gallon pail of no-name ice cream for her children, then she might be all proud of herself that 'she invented' adding candies or fruits for flavor changes.

BUT ONCE AGAIN HER WRITING SKILLS ARE SO CHILDISH THAT SHE CANNOT EXPRESS HER MEANING AND INTENTION.

And I dont begrudge anyone who can afford it to pay for herself and her gigilo to go across country for a getaway and an event. Whatever. But this is the same woman who refuses to afford milk or the movies for her children, feeds them predominantly starches instead of meat and protein, feeds them expired cereal, and grifts and begs for all their other needs.

Let me put it more clearly; she would much rather, on a regular basis, vacation with Steve than buy her children milk.

Kate's problem isn't her baking skills. Her problem is that she doesn't bake at all so when she trys to make up these stories about baking a cake they don't make any sense at all!
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Exactly! And it is true with so many of her posts! Many of her so-called recipes, her explanation of how she 'does' laundry... The posts make no sense! It's a combination of her very poor language skills which comes across clearly in her writing attempts, along with the fact that she is faking it. She does not actually DO most of what she claims. And what little she DOES do, she is so darned proud of herself for 'inventing' the stuff that we all do anyway as did our moms and grandmas before us.

Kate should write on CC how expansive it is to travel with a so called bodyguard and how mcuh it cost to.

1. How much airfare cost for to ppl.
2. Stay in a nice hotel for multiple days for 2 ppl.
3. How much meal cost for to ppl for days.
4. How much transportation cost for two ppl for days.
5. And all the other things I'm sure she's buying.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Excellent idea! Let's see if I can help get her started:

1. They stowed away on the plane in the cargo compartment and took Greyhound where the plane didnt fly.

2.Kate stayed at a homeless shelter and Stevie slept on a park bench.

3. Kate packed sack lunches from home and they lived on peanut butter sandwiches and shared one tea bag.

4. They rode the bus throughout the area.

5. She didn't 'buy' anything at all. People just walk up to her and HAND her things coz she is AMAZING!!!! and so deserving!!!!!!

Coz you know, she does everything for her kids.

Dmasy said...

Dwindle, thank you for 3 great posts. I like reading your words. Today, I feel so grouchy about her that it is difficult to write my own.

Good sentence -- "...she would rather vacation with Steve than buy her children milk."

Pity Party said...

I hope she is not making a concerted effort of showing the kids the difference between filming and not filming, by playing the cheap card. Not a problem with that, other than she spares no expense on herself. These are kids that had over the top birthdays that were just out of this world, not once, twice, but three times just last year. Thank God they have M&C.

PJ's momma: Thanks- now I remember the story:( I think Buddy has branched out too far with his 'celebrity' too. I liked when the show was more 'humble' although it was always a famous bakery.
Buddy is a character with his 'Yuge!" for huge cakes and the tricks they would pull, lol- I liked Moro, too.

Dwindle: I have enjoyed your witty posts too! :)

Someone upthread mentioned trying to ice a still-warm cake. Yep, that will mess things up.
But we all know speed is the important thing with Content Farmer Kate. Why wait around to do it right when you can push ahead and have something to complain about on the blog?

Also, another problem is getting cold butter to room temperature. If you put it in the microwave even a few seconds too long, the butter will liquify and you will have runny icing until the butter has time to solidify again. Melted butter separates, so it's hardly ideal, but just waiting a few minutes would have helped. A better system is to let the butter sit out for a few hours until it's just spreadable. If only she had spent a minute longer planning and researching her project she could have saved the cost of more butter, sugar, milk, etc. for her icing.

She will never learn.

SO....to me it sounded like she tried to make the girls cake failed, tried to make the boys cake, failed YET the girls got a re-try of the cake and the boys got back up cupcakes?
Not to mention, the girls had a ton of cute food and the boys had two things.

I read here not so much for what Kate does, but the poster's reactions to what she does.
You guys are so smart, quick-witted, it amazes me.

Gee, Kate's still awol. Anybody think she's getting some work done? maybe a tune up or a lube job?lol

I have a thought concerning Kate...seems like Kate's never had to do anything truly on her own..like someone else said, she went from her parents, to living with a boyfriend, to Jon, then to TLC, now Steve and the twins. She's never had to do anything on her own, can't seem to dress her kids, walk through an airport, know when to talk to her adoring fans...now she can't plan a SIMPLE birthday party without the help of TEN YEAR OLDS.
Can anyone really be this ignorant?
Any normal person could have worked full time, planned and executed this party with very little forethought, shopping and preparation, and with little or no help.
For Kate? It took a months' worth of planning, disasters ensued, and she was exhausted.
wtf???

That’s Kate in a nutshell. What’s even sadder is that not only does she prefer it, it what she DOES. (her vacation trumps milk for her kids. Bitch).

PJ, Once a Viewer....I too watch Cake Boss, though not so much now. The cakes and baked goods are amazing. Whenever they start shipping their goodies I will be first in line to give them a try.

With reality shows that center around a family there is an arc to these shows. There's the "get to know us" in the beginning, followed by "what are they up to" in the middle, and finally "who cares", the downward spiral to cancellation. That's what happened with K+8/JK+8. The lavish (free) wedding vows in Hawaii did it for me.

As for cake boss occasionally the camera shows Buddy and Lisa's house. Wow! It's a friggen mansion. I mean that sucker is easily 4,000 sq ft. Buddy works hard and a mansion is the fruits of his labor, good for him. I just get taken back by the money (episode of Buddy buying Lisa diamonds pissed me off). Today, I'll turn in once in a while if there's nothing on, but I really don't watch them any more.

I would just love to be a fly on the wall when Kate explains to the kids why they can't go anywhere with Mommy but Steve gets to go. I think the twins might already know the answer but the little ones probably are confused.

FYI, she's been posting on Twitter for the last hour and her feed is still DEAD. Here's hoping it's the start of a trend.

I have a fabulous recipe for cream cheese frosting that is delicious, easy, quick, and never fails! I researched it extensively by reading the Philadelphia cream cheese package!
Here it is:
Take one 8 Oz package Philadelphia cream cheese and 1/4 cup butter out margarine, set it out to soften at room temperature an hour or three before you plan to make the frosting. with an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese, butter or margarine, and one teaspoon vanilla and 16 ounces powdered sugar. That is it, four ingredients! Mix until creamy, then use right away or store in the fridge until you need it. It keeps fine in the fridge for a couple of Weeks.
This is enough to be the filling for a pumpkin roll or chocolate yule log, or to frost a sheet cake or two 8 or 9 inch layers. People always rave about this frosting, and can't believe how easy it is to make.

The twins were in church, and they're reading twitter updates about Kate running?

There is definitely something very wrong with that statement. I'd elaborate, but right now words fail me.
