Jon in People

Jon gave an interview in People in which he talked about Kate, his kids, and his new job. In newsstands this week.

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20605781,00.html

In other reality t.v. news, the latest reality show to exploit young children, Lifetime's Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp, which features Bristol's three-year-old son predominantly, was a ratings flop. It barely broke 720,000 for the night. Bristol had no trouble helping the ratings when she was on Dancing With the Stars without her kid. Were there other factors involved, or are viewers finally sick of watching fame-whore mommies exploit their kids?

Why does no one want to watch Mommy exploit me?

After seeing Kate in action for years, I'm still surprised that people ask her for advice.

&&&

I'm not sure I believe people are asking her for advice much. I think a lot of these questions are written up by her or her web site helpers. I really highly doubt any mother with half a brain would consult Kate or any celeb instead of a child development expert, pediatrician, or parenting book or web site. I mean really? What's funny is that Kate should be the one asking people how to parent because she's awful at it.

I tuned out to Bristol when she had all that plastic surgery done to her face.

Admin, I totally agree with your above comment. The only problem is their are nuts out there on Twitter who do think Kate is the best; why, I have no idea. But, I have always thought that she set up some of the tweets she gets herself.

BostonBonnie, post #1019 on previous thread. I completely understand where you're coming from. I was there myself. My mother always had what I referred to as "revisionist history"; she changed it based on the situation she was in. Honesty, nor admitting she was wrong, were never her strong points. (I don't think I worded the last sentence correctly, but I know you get the meaning.)

Jon tweeted that we should wait until we saw the whole article before passing judgment. Now (according to Admin's post on the previous thread) we're supposed to believe he was 'misquoted' or taken out of context.

Sounds a lot like Kate's 'editing' excuse to me...

You know, meh to all of it - John gives an intervew, Kate makes a mediocre lunch, Bristol Palin's show is deservedly a flop. Ulterior motives, hidden agendas, DWTS or no DWTS, meh to it all this evening. But you all continue to make me laugh.

Maggie said...

This is exactly what People magazine printed: Jon no longer opposes the brood returning to TV. "They miss it", he says. "Now it is different. They're older. I want the best for them."

I use to be a huge fan of his and wanted the best for him. No longer. He is a liar and stupid as they come. I would love to ask him what is different now? And his kids JUST turned 8 so I guess they know what is best for themselves. Oh please. And Jon must think the best for his kids would be to expose their private lives on tv for millions to critique.

This is all about money. The PA child support website states that he is over $5,000 in debt. And Jon lied about it always showing a balance. This is not true. I signed up for the website under my real name because it never said anything about I couldn't. His balance has gone up every month. Jon lied about it over twitter when it first was revealed that he owed money with the lie that he didn't owe money. Remember recently (I think in a radio interview he admitted he was behind but was now caught up). Well, remember he tweeted that he has always paid and wasn't behind. A lie for sure. And any public person can view the website. He is hurting for money and is falling every month behind. And my guess is he is probably behind in his personal life as well. He is disgusting. What has changed is now TLC is no longer paying him that $5,000 per month. Yep, he is just as bad as Kate if not worse.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Unfortunately unless People is willing to post what question they asked Jon, we'll never know for sure what he meant by that quote. I tend to prefer interviews where it's a straight transcript and not in story form. Less room for misquoting and misconstruing.

At the end of the day no one is going to give these kids another show so I'm sure he knows as much as we do it's a moot point.

Yes but not in a long paragraph form like that.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Admin, forgive me if this goes through twice, but my computer "blinked" when I was trying to post my last comment.

I completely agree with your post above. The problem there are her tweeties who think she is the best at everything. But, I have always had the feeling that some of the complimentary tweets were set up by Kate herself.

BostonBonnie #1018 on the previous thread. I completely understand where you are coming from. My mother had what I always referred to as "revisionist history". Her story changed based on the situation. Honesty and admitting she was wrong were never her priority; it was making people believe the tall tale she was telling.

Maggie, I don't think you're supposed to sign up for that web site, I forgot exactly what it said, but you're supposed to be involved in the case or something. I remember reading it and thinking I shouldn't sign up. I don't want you to get in trouble so you might want to double check what it said.

Behind or not behind, or perhaps a web site that has not "caught up" with the new lower order, I really don't think his child support is our business. If Kate has a problem, Kate can walk herself down to her child support division and deal with it.

On the one hand we don't want him back on T.V., on the other we demand he pay huge amounts of child support and never fall one cent behind. He just got a great new job, if he is behind, and I have no idea if he is, that's one way to pay child support.

It would be one thing if he were doing nothing and loafing around waiting for a show to fall in his lap like Kate does. It's quite another that the man is working hard, at one time even said he was working two jobs. He's worked for the past two years now, it seems to me he's doing the best he can and any shortfalls are for Kate and Jon to work out.

My question is how hard is Kate working to support her family, as she sits in her chair getting her hair fried in NYC? What a joke she is demanding Jon give her thousands and thousands of dollars just for her to blow it away. No wonder anyone might be hesitant to give that bitch a dime.

Maggie said...

Admin. I read carefully when I signed up and did nothing wrong. And you wrote that we demand that he pay a hugh amount and never fall a penny behind. I don't think anyone wrote or thinks that Jon should pay a hugh amount. I think he should pay a reasonable amount that is fair. And I have no problem with him falling behind. Just don't lie about it. And it is our business because Jon made it our business. He is the one that tweeted that Kate was lying that he was behind and then Jon further discussed it on a radio show. So yeah it is our business. What makes me mad is Jon lying about it all. Please refer to this article again: http://www.eonline.com/news/jon_gosselin_3500_behind_in_child/308645 Also, I just went back and reread his tweets about his being behind in mid-April. He tweeted that he wasn't behind and more importantly that he has never been late. Well, what a lie because he said a mere few months later on a radio show that he was behind but now caught up (another lie).

I can't trust him about anything anymore. I was his one fan rooting for him all the way. No longer, no more.

a coincidence is not the same as an accident said...

Add me to the list of those disappointed in Jon.

By saying kate is a good mom, he is really messing with his kids' minds. The 6 may still be young enough that they think their mom is the best, and I'm certain that's one of the reasons why they are never at friends' houses. kate knows that the more they are exposed to how a good mom behaves (cough, cough, Aunt Jodi), they'll realize what a self-centered, uncaring user she is.

Yes, I realize that he probably knows better than anyone what a sucky mother she is, and that this MAY be a calculated move on his part to appease her and to get her to STFU, and stop trashing him.
But this just invalidates what the children know intuitively, if they haven't already had the actual thought, "Hey, my mom doesn't give a crap about me, and only thinks of herself. She's not a very good mother." Now, after Jon's interview, they may be thinking, "Why is Daddy lying and saying my gestational carrier is a good mother?"

Also, now I am even more convinced that it's no coincidence that Jon and Ellen broke up right around when the TLC contract ended. I think he voiced the possibility of a return to tv for him and/or the children, and she wanted no parts of it.

I do not know much about Ellen, but she does not strike me as the type who would do a stupid "interview," like the fake one (pitch?) that Jon and his current girlfriend did for ET, or whichever crappy entertainment show that was.

When I first discovered this blog, I chuckled at the title, "15 Minutes, Gosselin Style." Sadly, I never dreamed that TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER, these two famewhore parents would STILL be chasing the spotlight.

Finally, I hope this gosselinbook.com thing is something juicy that doesn't make things worse for the kids, but I'm afraid it's just going to be Kelly or someone pulling my leg with a big build up to nothing.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to get that off my chest. I know that I shouldn't let their actics get to me, but I keep thinking how these two are seeing to it that 8 children spend any money that may be left when they turn 18 on years and years of therapy.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I see what you're saying Maggie. In fairness it was a noisy sheeple who went searching around Jon's child support and dug up some numbers from the internet. And then it was Kate who made the passive aggressive "it wouldn't surprise me comment." They put it out there, and Jon responded. He shouldn't have responded, I totally agree with that. Really it's just better for Jon not to say anything at all, that seems to be hard for him.

Buddy said...

I'm telling you, Kate and Jon both want their kids to maintain the lifestyle they have become accustomed to, the house, the pool, trips, etc. the TLC contract is up, the money tree has dried up. They both now have to work to support these kids and if that means another TV show, I think they will do that. In order for them to do that, they have to present a united front.

Bingo, Buddy.
Even if they don't get a tv show, the interviews and pictures will continue, and the children will not have the privacy that they deserve.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Buddy, I think you're right. However, Kate and Jon both need to take a close look at the other families with multiples. They live modest lifestyles in modest homes, and the kids seem to be okay and even thriving in that environment. I think Jon and Kate need to get off their clouds and come back down to reality. They BOTH need to do what is best for the kids, and I know Kate never thought that way. Now, I don't think Jon thinks that way either, although he is still the better of the 2.

I think I vastly underestimated how hard it can be to have a taste of the "high life" and then be expected to turn your back on it. It's like they cannot fathom a simpler life, don't want to, won't. They refuse to. I guess it's like eating the forbidden fruit. Just don't do it and you'll never know what you're missing. But take a bite and you'll forever be dreaming about it the rest of your life.

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Okay, my computer "blinked" again while I was trying to post so I hope this is not duplicated.

Buddy, I agree with you. Families of other multiples have lived modest lives in modest homes, and the kids seem to be happy and well adjusted. I always thought it was Kate that wanted this lifestyle, but now I'm beginning to think Jon wants this for the kids as well. Neither one of them seems to understand what the kids really need, which is unconditional love, security, peace, and a happy home. Although I think Jon is the lesser of the 2 evils, my respect for him has dropped in the last day or two.

I hardly think I am giving up my privacy. I am fully aware all the things that you said about the website collecting info on me. Any website you go on collects info on you. Again, when I signed up I read everything and gave my name. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong then or now. Please don't start attacking me about this subject. I did nothing wrong, Jon did by repeatedly bring up his support and lying about it. Again Jon tweeted he has never been late in support. And Jon then said on a radio show that he was behind in support.

From Pressi's (spelling?) scans:

"And for the first time in three years, he and Kate are on speaking terms. 'Now Kate and I communicate great,' he says. 'It's parenting together, but in separate locations. She's a great mother.' After unsuccessfully trying in 2009 to get his kids taken off their spin-off show Kate Plus 8, which ended last September, Jon no longer opposes the brood returning to TV. 'They miss it,' he says. 'Now it's different. They're older. I want the best for them.'"

And a caption on a photo:
" 'I'll try the real world for a while.' says Gosselin"

Kids, prepare for your close up, daddy wants a piece of the money pie.

I could very well be wrong, but I really believe that Jon won't agree for the kids to be on TV as a group. He might agree to give permission for Maddy to be on TV, because she is old enough to be on without Kate and/or the other kids.

However, I do think that if Jon could get a job on TV that he felt was a good fit for HIM without the kids, he would take the gig.

Meanwhile, his interview in People is good publicity for his job now, and he is taking advantage of that.

I wouldn't blame him for taking a job on TV for himself. After all, a gig on TV pays very well!

Pennsylvania throws you in jail if you get behind in child support. I think the maximum amount of time before you have to go to jail is three months. Why isn't Jon in jail?

Maggie, maybe it's my own experience with court web sites that make me skeptical, especially since Kate isn't freaking out and no one is in jail. I don't think Kate could stand it if he were that behind, she would be shouting it from the rooftops what a deadbeat he is. I access court web sites every day, unfortunately they are not always accurate. I've had web sites say that I filed motions I didn't, or the wrong motion, or they didn't receive something I have file-stamped. I've had a motion denied because it was untimely....turns out, it was timely, they messed up. A layman looking at the web site would say ha ha stupid attorney missed the deadline. When really it was a mistake on their part and I didn't miss the deadline at all. You get to be quick friends with the clerk because you spend a lot of time on the phone clarifying with them.

Child support figures may not reflect the current order (which was just recently changed in this case), there may be some other arrangement we don't know about, like a dad paying school tuition directly or cutting a check directly to mom. There's just too many factors and other things that could be happening to rely on what one web site says.

There's only one web site that I know of to access PA child support and it even says "I agree and understand that the information provided by this Internet site does not constitute an official record of the activities associated with my child support case." Basically they even admit our web site might not be accurate and is not official.

I'm with you, if he's behind he's a liar and needs to get his act together. But I also have full confidence in Kate to take care of this problem.

No matter how badly Jon and Kate may want to shove their kids back in tv, I don't believe the interest is there. They are regular kids no actors, no special talent and have nothing to offer a network. I prefer Jon to Kate but I think he is the lesser of the two evils. Bottom line is I feel very bad for those poor kids with such fame whores for parents. I don't believe the kids miss the grueling filming schedule and for Jon to say "there older so it's different" Seriously?? They are still little kids who deserve to have a private, normal life.

This is my last comment about this issue but Jon tweeted that he has never been behind in mid-April. Then recently he said (I think it was a radio show, not sure without looking it up) that he WAS behind but is no longer. So I am basing my saying that he is a liar on his tweet that he has never been behind and then stating that he was behind on a radio show. So therefore he lied.

Regarding the accuracy of Child Support websites, this is my experience.
I'm in Ohio, so I realize Pennsylvania is probably different. In order for me to access information regarding my case, I have to either call a phone number and put in my SS # and a PIN #, or I can access the info. online using my SS# and a password. This gives me my case information only, not everyone in the county's.
My ex has never been behind on payments, but it always shows a balance due. In fact, my daughter just graduated in May so I no longer receive support, but I checked the website and according to it, he still owes over $1,600.00. I can say for certain that he does not. I received a payment every two weeks like clockwork since day one.
So I wouldn't take too much stock in Pennsylvania's website either. And I think it's ridiculous that just anyone can access private information so easily! It's nobody's business but the parents and the court's.

Possibly because the website isn't accurate. If he were that far in arrears, the courts would be all over him like bees around a honey pot. You get a notice to take a nice trip down to the Domestic Relations office and make arrangement for payments. If you ignore the demand to show up, they put out a bench warrant for your arrest. No question about it. PA doesn't fool around.

And Lauren is right. It's nobody's business but the parents and the courts.

The way these two carry about about wanting to give their kids experience and the best. Enough already. I have noticed that all they have done is talk about wanting it. But have either of them been content enough to show these kids experience that don't cost you a fortune and are content enough not to blab it across Twitter?

Experiences, seeing things, learning things, doing things together as a family I don't know when it became just about having the money to go away for a trip. There is more to life and learning things than going on trips.

If that is their focus that their kids miss the trips...there are things they can do that don't always require them to spend money at all.

Go to the library and have the kids check out books on their favorite far away places or a new exotic animal that lives far away. You can read about anywhere in the whole world and beyond. So it's not travel as in load up the kids and go somewhere. Best part is you can sit and go somewhere without leaving the couch.

Just taking a local drive around your own community, there is more out there than taking these kids to a picnic in the park or the toy store or whatever. A nature hike in your own local area.

Build something, a small sailing boat, one of those little child race cars.

Experiences are even taking your kid to the grocery store and teaching them to shop kids love to be treated like they are grown up.

Why is it so hard for Jon and Kate just to want their kids to be normal? You don't need to be on television to have experiences.

Like most mommies as Kate claims to be so in love with being a mommy she would find a way to give her kids all the experiences she wants like everyone else does: plan it, sacrifice something she might want to afford something.

The longer she sits with her head in the clouds for another reality show to fall into her lap the more opportunities she could be passing right on by for her kids and probably never realize it.

If you focus on the grand experiences all the time you could set yourself up for disappointment if you don't always get that high from something over the top. Learn to enjoy a simple experience, I don't know...laugh over the fact that your mom just spilled flour all over the kitchen floor by accident. It's still an experience to enjoy because you shared something.

I almost pity Kate that that's all she see's is this big picture all the time. Take a step back and see things in that picture you might have otherwise missed--all those little details that make the bigger picture so grand.

Kristine said...

Lauren, because I know of too many parents who DO owe $1,600 and more, I'd like to commend the father of your children for being so reliable with the child support. That made me smile.

I have one acquaintance who owes over $25,000 and never got more than a head shake from the judge. Then one day they up and arrested him.
He pled guilty and is on probation. I could not believe his arrearages got that high before the court actually stepped in to help that mother out with their kids.

Not Sure If We Need to Know This said...

I'm curious about why someone not directly involved in the family situation would even want information about the gosselin child support arrangements and timeliness.

I understand curiosity and I understand being outraged that "celebrity" folks would lie or mislead and I understand wanting to call them on their lies.

But in the end what purpose is served by accessing their personal information?

What can be accomplished by learning the information?

What are we to do with one person's review of computer data, data which may or may not be accurate?

Everyone here knows both parents lie and have lied. They both shape the facts to suit themselves, although I might concede that khate is the more egregious of the two liars.

Whether or not he is or is not 'behind in child support payments' is no business of mine. I don't care. I don't care, I don't care.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Not Sure if We Need to Know, I pretty much agree with you.

I do believe that much of what these parents do is public and that the public has a right to comment on it. The problem is there's a huge difference between private financial matters that have nothing to do with exploiting the kids, and things of a public nature that do involve the kids, being famous, all that jazz. Child support is very personal, it's a reflection of a parent's income and visitation, and it is an indication of how much money is being spent to support the children. Thus it becomes a private matter to the child. I don't believe anyone's child support, no matter how much of a deadbeat or liar or how much they've talked about it, should be public record. And it generally isn't. If the shoe were on the other foot and Kate were paying child support, I think I'd have the same discomfort. It all is so closely related to the children and can bring such embarrassment to them I just don't like the subject. Generally discussions like Jon and Kate are having disputes over child support or whatever, don't bother me. But when we get into specifics like Jon allegedly owes X amount or Kate wants X amount or whatever, it becomes too personal IMO.

Perhaps it's the parents interpretation of the request that is misconstrued. This may be a twist of the classic Far Side where the guy is talking to the dog and the dog only understands its own name. It's possible that the kids ask to go the the beach, the lake, a theme park, or wherever and the parents have no intention of paying for that and conclude that the kids must be asking for the show back in their lives.

I have yet to hear either parent say the kids really miss being famous, having every facet of their life exposed, being recognized everywhere, and having who knows how many fans obsessing over them. What I have heard is they miss some of the perks of filming.

So they miss some of the perks that filming brought them, and that's understandable. But they're too young to understand what you have to give up to get those perks or to be able to consent to that. Even Bristol Palin is saying gosh I guess I didn't really think about what this reality show would really mean. And she's 20, I think. If a 20 year old didn't appreciate what it means, God knows a little kid certainly can't.

It's up to their parents to help them get past this nostalgia for filming and find fulfillment in other activities. Desperately seeking out a reality show for them is not the solution, they will never get one and it will only leave the kids wondering what's wrong with them that they can't get a new gig. ANd let's say on the remote chance they DO get a show, that one will end someday too! I mean all shows come to an end, unless you're Price is Right, and you have to move on.

I don't find it healthy for normal for an eight year old to be pining for this long over filming. That part of their lives is over. It's time to help the child get some new interests and enjoy the next part of their lives.

Wow, has it really been three years since the divorce? That makes Kate seem even more pathetic going on and on about Jon. My God woman, give it up.

Taking the walk of shame.....lol

Well.

Gosselinbook basically said they are currently unable to release the 37 chapter book because of the threat from Kate's lawyer. They said it was emailed to them.

You really have to go over and read it, this person seems very well-read and intelligent. They said they have an attorney as well and they are making sure all their bases are covered. They gave a big shout out to 15 mins. and said it was their favorite Kate blog!

Kate wants another TV show...Jon wants another TV show...the kids want another TV show. as we used to say growing up:

Want in one hand and shit in the other and see which gets full first!

They can want until theyre blue in the face but unless a network is interested there will be no show. Let's face it, neigh Kate nor Jon have any real talent. The kids are just normal kids now. They're not cute toddlers any more. Normal is a good thing. From what we've seen none of them are so super talented that they'd be passed through to Vegas. Kate says that M dreams of being a Disney star, well that little 6 year old that tap danced on AGT has more of a chance becoming that Disney star because she has real talent. I saw the video of M in her school play and even though she's got a sweet voice it's nothing special.

I know Kate misses the good life and after that article I think Jon does too. I'm sure that the kids do miss the travel but they've got to learn that they're not going to have everything handed to them just because they want it. Life isn't always fair and the sooner they learn that the better.

Many posters seem to think that just because Jon might be agreeable to putting the kids back on TV that it will happen. The sad reality is that someone has to want them first and I don't think that anyone is beating a path to their door to have them sign on the dotted line.

Will they get another show? Doubtful. But stranger things have happened.

Do we really know that the kids are pining at all, or it this just a figment of Kate's imagination? Maybe in her messed up world, she's convinced herself (and Jon) that the kids have come unglued because they can't film.

I don't believe for one second that those kids 'miss filming, want to be on tv again, miss the camera guys'

That is pure and simple projection from their gestational carrier.

SHE wants to film again. SHE wants the trips, the hotels, the first class tickets, the travel, being treated like a 'stah'. SHE does.

Not the kids.

If she said it, it's not true. Whatever comes out of her mouth is a lie, a fib, a fairy tale, an hallucination, a selfish dream of HERS.

I quit listening to her blah, blah, blah years ago. She isn't capable of knowing reality or the truth, much less speaking it.

And yes, I LOVE the Far Side. I know exactly which cartoon you're referring to, the dog listening so closely to her owner and only hearing one thing she recognizes.... ginger! LOL

GOSSELIN BOOK
Questions Will Be Answered.

Thursday, June 21, 2012AN OPEN LETTER TO KATE GOSSELIN

Hi Kate!

I’m having trouble understanding why you’re going to such great lengths to keep this book from being published.

If I remember correctly, there were two other books about you that came and went in the past few years without even a mention in the news and you were perfectly content to simply ignore them. You tell your Twitter followers every day to ignore the people who have differing opinions than yours.

Because I’ve heard from your lawyers, obviously you didn’t simply ignore me and I know you’re paying close attention to me.

What are you so afraid of this time around? Is there really anything else that can be said about you that hasn’t already been said?

You’ve been ‘lied’ about by the tabloids since 2009. You say it gives you media buzz and you’re thankful for the ‘haters’ of which I’m not one.

You’ve done an absolutely marvelous job in the past of weathering the storm when all of those ‘scum tabloids’ as you called them wrote lie after lie, week after week. You held your head high for the most part and even capitalized on the ‘lies’ by making the rounds on the talk show circuit and 'setting the record straight.' You also made a lot of money in the process by telling your side of the story.

Why is this different?

I’ve seen a contract or two and I know how much an entertainment news show pays for even a minor celebrity interview. Just think of all the money you would make by doing what you love doing – going on television. You might even use some of that money to take your children on a nice vacation to the beach and you wouldn’t even have to thank me. It would be my pleasure to help.

Why not let me tell my story and make a fool out of myself while you correct my ‘lies?’

What’s so different now?

Why are you hiding this time?

You don’t even know what this book is about but you’ve already invested your hard-earned money into having it stopped by legal threats.

It feels very much like you and your hi-priced lawyers are trying to bully me.
Aren’t you the one Tweeting daily about being against bullying Kate? I believe you went as far as to offer your services to be the national spokesperson for bullying. I think you meant anti-bullying but that’s ok. I understood.

A couple definitions of bullying by the way are:
'To treat in an overbearing or intimidating manner.'
'To force one's way aggressively or by intimidation.'

By definition Kate, you and your lawyers are bullying me.

Why not be an example to your children? Don’t hide in the shadows while your lawyers do your dirty work for you. Be ‘Can-Do Kate’ and step up and face a new challenge head-on.

Let me tell my story.

I’ll tell you this much to put your mind at ease; I’m not a member of your immediate or extended family and I’ve never signed a confidentiality agreement, so you don’t have to worry about either of those two things. More importantly, any information I may or may not have has been obtained legally, beyond question.

With that said, what could I possibly know and write that would be any worse than anything that’s already been written or said about you? All you have to do is announce to the world that it’s a lie and you get the media attention you so enjoy.

I challenge you Kate to let me to tell my story.

Be a role model for your children and accept this challenge.

Don’t cower and hide behind your lawyers.

I'll look for your response on Twitter, blog post or email.

Damn you auto correct! In my post @50 it should read: NEITHER Kate nor Jon have any real talent (although the 'neigh' does fit Kate).

Maggie said...

Hello,
It is with obvious disappointment that there is no Gosselin book to present to you today, but please be patient because it’s coming.

This is the book that Kate Gosselin is fighting to keep you from reading…or even knowing about.

It’s 37 chapters and 297,931 words.
More time and research went into this project than you could possibly imagine, but unfortunately for Kate and her lawyers, no laws were broken by me during the process of gathering information.

This has been an all-consuming project of mine for several years and I honestly see no legal reason why it shouldn’t be made available to the public as soon as possible, but because of a seven-page legal threat from Kate Gosselin’s attorneys, I feel the need to proceed with caution to protect my own family from the very real threat of a massive lawsuit. I’m also a law-abiding citizen who respects the laws of this country and I want to make sure that I go through all proper legal channels before telling this story, so as not to infringe on any of Kate’s rights.

The legal notice was a pretty scary read the first time through. By the third time not so much. I’ve spent countless hours studying the law leading up to this day and I’m very confident that I’m protected from any wrong-doing as described in the cease and desist order sent to me.

Many legal threats were made to me. I had known for years why the people closest to Kate Gosselin and her children refused to come forward to tell their stories, but now I finally got a taste of it personally. They’re very convincing. I’ve since sought legal counsel and that’s where we stand today.

Maggie said...

Continued: I’ve done nothing to purposely conceal my identity, except to check the box making my personal information private when I registered the gosselinbook.com domain name, as I’ve done with every other domain name that I’ve ever registered for business as well as pleasure. I’m not a person who seeks individual attention so I’ll enjoy the anonymity for as long as it lasts. The book and my identity are far from a secret though as I’ve interviewed hundreds of people along the way and everyone who knows me personally knows about the book.

For the record and because it’s been suggested and speculated about on the Gosselin blogs, Jon Gosselin has absolutely nothing to do with this book, nor has he ever personally given me an interview for this book or any information whatsoever for this book.

Speaking of Gosselin blogs, this is not an attempt to join the ranks, and this is not going to be a competing Gosselin blog. This blog will deal only, hopefully, with information surrounding the Gosselin book and its release. In the past year, since wrapping up most of the writing on the book, I started to read several Gosselin blogs – both pro and con Kate Gosselin – to try to get a better understanding of what makes the ‘haters,’ the ‘non-fans,’ and the ‘sheeple’ tick. I was also looking to see if any true ‘insiders’ were online talking about what they knew from first-hand experience, since I was now armed with more information than I knew what to do with. I’ve interacted with several blogs and had some really nice conversations with people on both sides of the Gosselin fence.

I don’t like the extremists at all. I don’t like the hate and I don’t like the fake, blind, unwavering supporters. It gets a bit silly after awhile.

There’s one blog that I will single out and highly recommend if you’re interested in keeping up with the ongoing Gosselin saga. It’s my personal favorite, not only because of the intelligent conversation and the often-times hysterical posts by some of the regulars, but because this blog and it’s collection of posters truly seems to understand Kate Gosselin. They may not always have the details correct, but they get the broad strokes that make up Kate Gosselin more than anyone else online. www.realitytvkids.com. Keep up the great work!

I monitor the Twitter happenings but pay zero attention to Twitter ‘haters’ and have never been one of them. I’ve personally tried to always be open-minded to the truth of any given situation and to always give Kate the benefit of the doubt before reaching any conclusions based on the facts that I’ve come to know.
I don’t really fall into any of the above categories, the ‘haters’ or the ‘sheeple’ or the casual ‘non-fans.’

Even though Kate Gosselin is, in my opinion, a washed-up, has been reality star, I promise you that this book will be the biggest entertainment story of the year.

I have zero interest in trying to intentionally harm Kate Gosselin emotionally or do damage to her reputation. This project is and has been from the first day of writing, about protecting the children. I’ve tried several other private avenues to accomplish this to no avail. Kate is simply too well insulated.

I do know however that a person with nothing to hide doesn’t hire hi-powered lawyers to protect themselves and to conceal the truth from the public. Kate Gosselin is a very public figure and she has tremendous opportunities to tell her side of things to the media. Opportunities the rest of us don't have. I'm simply trying to balance the scale a bit.

The seven-page legal notice that was sent to me came from Evan N. Spiegel at the email address ‘Client-Protection@lavelysinger.com.’

I wonder, while he’s spending so much time protecting his client, Kate Gosselin, if he ever gives any thought about whom, if anyone is protecting the children?

I'm surprised to realize this looks real and I think Kate really did shut them down or at least scare them. I looked up the law firm representing Kate, it's legit and one of their practice areas are "celebrity rights of privacy."

I can only speak from my own experience when a PA lawyer tried to scare me with a strongly worded letter, that if you stick to the facts it's pretty hard for a celeb to successfully sue you, though they'll certainly try to chase you away. I think he realized we're here to stay and there's nothing he can do about it--He backed down after just two letters to me and I never heard from him again. I also found it kind of funny I'd been practicing law longer than he had. :)

I'm not understanding why this Gosselin Book person just didn't write and publish the book instead of the whole countdown, threatening-type intimidating thing.

Permanent Name said...

So........ I'm confused.

I know the gosselinbook counter tried to stir up some controversy and interest prior to publication by using the countdown clock.

But now they are mired down with karts' 'legal team'.

Couple of questions:

1. Why not just publish the book without any fanfare or prior notice? Why give kart any warning or chance to stop it? Unless this is the plan, to generate even more curiosity.

Book might sell better if world thought she was going to try to stop it.

2. Who in the hell is paying for kart's lawyer? This must be coming out of her own pocket. Ouch! I smell a lawsuit coming. She looooves her some lawsuits, doesn't she? After all, she already "won" another one.

I bet this will get her some interviews pronto. She'll have to get on and cry and set the record straight...... cry about how she's having to spend her kids hard earned money to defend herself and now they won't have any food to eat and she won't be able to pay the wad of bills she has in her purse........ boo hoo....

Not sure, but I bet I might even spend some $$ on this and buy the book.

I wonder if this is Jamie or Ashley? Who else would not have signed a CA and isn't her family? Oh dear, could it be purseboy?

It will be fun to find out who the author is!

Ava said...

I think I have an idea who wrote the book but I hesitate to say because I don't want to out them, even though I'm sure it will come out eventually. And if I'm wrong, I don't want to get the person attacked.

This does seem to be a real book. I hope everything gets legally cleared so it will see the light of day. Kate must be really worried about it though. It's amazing how much money Kate is willing to spend to protect herself, while throwing her children to the wolves.

Yes it's amazing what Kate will spend to shield the world from knowing her misdeeds while she makes her kids reach into the rubbish bin for soccer cleats. These kind of boutique firm lawyers down in Century City book $400-$500 bucks an hour and there are no freebies. I'm guessing they billed at least an eight hour day for this little threat.

I agree. She didn't seem to give a crap about the Walentis book or Werny Gal's book.

Maybe Kate knows the identity of Gosselinbook and that has her worried.
Regardless, it just seems odd for a person who only ever wanted to be a mother, who lives and breathes for her kids and wants the best for them, who makes the BEST lunches in the whole school, who stuffs 45,000 plastic eggs at Easter and whose kids thank her EVERY DAMN day for gracing them with her presence- to shut a book down without knowing what's in it. What would someone like Saint Kate have to hide??????

Gosh, it's hard to say. I'd say a very conservative estimate is $1,000 retainer and an eight hour day billed at $400 bucks an hour. I would say it'd be impossible to get this done for less than $2,000, and that realistically, we're looking at more like a $4,000-$5,000 bill to stop a book she hasn't even seen yet.

Permanent Name said...

ADMIN,

Question: What are/will kart's lawyers be doing about this?

I understand they can send threatening letters but will they try to verify all facts in the book? That seems a monumental task...

If the book is truths, how can they stop it?

Might they at some point say to kart, there is not basis to block it?

Can they cite privacy concerns? Even in light of the fact that kart filmed her kids on potties, being disimpacted, throwing up, naked as babies, skirts lifted to be spanked? SHE didn't protect the kids privacy so how can she expect HER privacy to be protected?

She made herself a public figure... deal with it kart.

Like the author said, kart will have a field day on shows to put out her side of things, so she will benefit. Deal with it kart.......

What exactly CAN her lawyers do if the book is well researched and presents only facts?

Well, it's fun to speculate, but the only deep dark secret I can really think of is if Kate told someone close to her how she really feels and that person gave an interview.

Like if she told them she knows she's just using the kids to get her famous, that she knows she's a nightmare to everyone but she loves to stir the pot, that she loves taking freebies from suckers, that the whole organic/exercise/marathon thing is just to get attention she doesn't really give a crap. Stuff like that that would undermine her entire schtick right now I guess. Otherwise, there can't possibly be any deep dark secrets left. Steve? I mean, come on, we all know about that already.

Well, now that her lawyers have it, they'll have overnight mailed her a copy.

she's going to be in a really, really bad mood I bet!

And I agree that she knows who the author is, and knows they are telling the truth and DIDN'T sign a CA. That can be the only reason she's freaking about this one.

She knows what's in it. And she knows it's true.

I bet at least one thing in it will be that she and purseboy knocked boots and before she was divorced too.

I think its already been brought up, but what the hay...I see a real opportunity for a Coupon Cabin blog on ways to save money on legal representation. You know the drill, use your own pool, skimp on the kiddies food and clothing and use the IPhone app for lawyer coupons.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Permanent, I don't see how her lawyers can do anything but threaten a lawsuit and wait for it to be published. Just like they couldn't do anything to this blog but threaten.

The FIRST element of a defamation lawsuit is publication. If the book hasn't been released there's no publication so there's nothing to DO. I guess the could request an advanced copy or something but I don't see why this author would have to comply with that, they're just a party not the judge and there's no suit right now.

I'm guessing they told Kate we'll try to scare this person off but if it doesn't work we'll have to wait until publication then we'll sit down and go through the book with a fine-toothed comb (and bill 40 hours at $400 an hour) and see if there's anything untruthful in there we can hang a defamation lawsuit on. If not well, you're outta luck.

Sometimes a big part of the job of being a lawyer is telling your clients, I'm sorry you have no case.

Ava said...

If the book doesn't get cleared I'm sure the author will find other ways to get the information out. It would be very hard to just let all of that time and effort die.

I used to think that Kate wasn't aware of her own behavior because who would consciously act like that and have no shame. Someone who has nothing to hide and is confident that they are the person they say they are, doesn't go around threatening legal action. Just the fact that she is getting lawyers involved tells me that she is fully aware of her behavior and is scared of the truth of her actions coming out. If there was nothing to hide she wouldn't have spent the money on the lawyers. Oh Kate, I wonder what you're hiding. It must be something you're awfully ashamed of.

Oooh admin,

I like your ideas! I didn't think of that... so yes, she got tipsy with a box of wine, let loose what she really felt and it wasn't flattering to herself at all.

Fun to speculate on authors:

Beth
Ashley
Jamie - my personal favorite guess
Purseboy
Jason? long shot
Werny Girl

Wow, she doesn't have many friends, does she? The list is short.

It seems the author has been working on this for a while.

Beth - she wrote the first book and we know she writes well; but she seems to have stepped far away from the mess that is kart.

Jamie - she was in position to garner secrets as they both sipped from the box, but can she write?

purseboy - maybe this is why he stuck with her for so long, but would anyone have really talked with him?

Werny Girl - we know she can write, and she seems like someone who could investigate credibly and ethically.

Honestly, I am actually getting excited to find out how this all turns out.

It would be such a thrill to have kart exposed in writing with verified sources about all her lies and manipulations.

Waiting. Waiting. I can wait.........

_____________________________________

This is so true and you said it so well.

No privacy for the children and years of claims that their show was the realest reality show. She said the crew can use whatever footage they capture. And that what was shown on TV was their real life, good, bad and ugly. For the last year she has cried and whined about not being able to broadcast their lives on TV anymore. She offered her family on a platter for public consumption six years ago. So she has a realllly weak argument about her "privacy" when in a blatant display of exploitation, she sold off she and her children's privacy a long time ago. This is just example #782 of Kate wanting it both ways.

I must be tired and I was reading quickly and read it as Laverne & Shirley Attorneys at Law (more than once LOL). I've got to say that the individual writing the gosselinbook blog seems very intelligent and well spoken. Nice shout-out to you Admin. Now you really will have to keep it on moderate because I'm sure that sheeple will be flocking here now. I'm hooked and I will buy the book (hopefully a Kindle edition). I like the way (s)he called Kate out on being a bully. We've been saying that all along. Well off to bed before I see Squiggy is the one who signed the cease and desist order.

A lot has been said about Kate but I still think there are some deep dark secrets left in Kate's closet. (Or at least one that Kate's afraid of.) Look at everything she has done publically. Can you imagine the stuff that Kate could have possibly done in private? Stuff that even she knew better than to let see the light of day. Stuff that could be proven as facts that she couldn't defend as being lies. I really hope Kate will be shown for exactly who she is and what she's done.

Permanent Name said...

Her feelings about her fans, yes. But I think this goes way back many years.

I doubt 37 chapters deals with just recent stuff. I imagine, as the author said, we have gotten the broad strokes correct here.

I imagine the book will deal with the morbid details and there is 'something' that she is keeping quiet about.

Probably can't be anything about her medical records. Again I bet there is some yet unknown about purseboy. And fans, and her feelings about using her kids for fame.

Geez, I need to get to bed. I hate myself for being so morbidly curious.

I just hope the attorney doesn't get an injunction to stop the publication of the book.

It sounds like this is someone who had interactions with the family but wasn't a nanny or housekeeper signing a CA. This person is well spoken, educated, possibly a real writer.

This has happened to many a celeb including Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy. A celeb will hire on a biographer to help them chronicle their memoirs. For whatever reason it doesn't work out. Despite this, the person writes an unauthorized book anyway and prints it. Celeb freaks out--all their private disclosures in print, no way to control it, no way to edit what they didn't want disclosed.

I wonder if this was someone Kate disclosed a lot of information to for a reason like for a book, it didn't work out, and now that person decided to go it alone anyway. Whoever it they've been around a long time.

I think you are all on the right path re: Skeeve.

Kate hasn't cared too much thus far that people from one end of the globe to the other have said she's a bitch to deal with. She's been shown on TV being a terrible mother. She did it right in front of the camera.

But I think she would rather die than have her real relationship with Skeeve be outed (if indeed they are doing the deed. I can't make up my mind) I think about how she freaked out on the Philly ChitChat dude and I wonder if it had something to do with the purseboy. If it turned out that she's a homewrecker, that would really put a big black mark on the fabulosity that she thinks she is and projects. It could also mean that Jon was right. Not that!

Mel said...

This reminds me of the incident with that Philly reporter...when she went nuts before she even knew what he was going to say.

I sure am getting the vibe that there *is* something interesting that Kate is desperate to hide, because she'll be judged harshly for it. Hmmmm....

Ava said...

I think it's something in her past. I don't think it's anything current. Kate has a whole history before the show came along and before she knew how to be so guarded with those around her. It makes sense that she's hiding something. Maybe that's why she's not capable of having true relationships in her life.

Adddddmmminnnnnn,

Are you dropping little hi-ints? Your ideas sound very, very credible!

Not putting you on the spot - just getting in the spirit of the moment.

This will come out, one way or another and it will be very validating to read that she is just like we've been saying she is.

It's so damn frustrating to have to listen to her crappola and not have anyone challenge it effectively.

I think, my personal opinion, is that the world is tired of her entitlement, her attitude and her lying. Honesty and full disclosure will be extremely welcome!

And perhaps that is the final straw that will send her off to mediocreland forever. Let her get a real job like the rest of us.

She is no different than the rest of us, whether she thinks so or not. She has not talent or skills. She needs to shut up and mother her children. Privately.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Mel, that's right, the Philly reporter DID hit a nerve with her. And what did that seem to be about? Steve.

Maybe someone spilled the whole truth about Steve and she knows that just makes her a giant hypocrite ragging on Jon when she was doing the same thing the whole time. I think that would bother her and she wouldn't want that out. She would feel like her entire schtick as the poor struggling single mom would be exposed as a fraud with Steve there supporting her the entire time. Her whole imagine she would feel would be trashed.

I wonder if it could be something medical? Total speculation but could you imagine if Kate had ever gotten an abortion? Her whole claim for needing fertility treatments...Her not wanting selective reduction...

Mel said...

What about her one sister that she was still speaking to?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Actually there's a lot of things now I think Kate wouldn't want to come out.

Kate seems like a blabber to me, blabbing to friends then kicking them to the curb. It explains why she's so darn paranoid about everything, because she always exposes too much then regrets it when she needs to kick these people to the curb.

Maybe she blabbed that she made up her fertility problems and calculated having multiples and actively tried for it and cannot believe her plan worked. Or blabbed as you said about an abortion--there goes her Christian fan base. Maybe she blabbed some awful things about Jon like say she wanted to divorce him when the kids were babies or something and made his life hell and he had to put up with it until he couldn't take it anymore. Maybe she was the one to cheat, cheating with Steve for the first time years ago when they first met. Maybe she's blabbed about how wealthy she is and how she cannot believe all the suckers still giving her free stuff. All things she wouldn't want anyone to know because it would crack the whole poor single mom facade she has built.

Is she twitting now? I haven't looked at her twitter feed. If she's on twitter silence that would be very telling.

That would be too private, too painful, for me to even know about Kate Gosselin.

Mel said...

Gosselinbook said, "I know what you did."

So.....does that imply a single incident (scammed the obstetrician, beat Jon or a kid, sold Jon out), or string of incidents (cheated on Jon with Steve, beat the kids frequently)?

Does it imply something that happened in the past, but isn't happening now? It doesn't say "I know what you are", which could exclude being lesbian for example.

I agree that 37 chapters can't be all recent stuff.

The more I ponder this, the more I think it's either something related to Steve, or something related to her sexuality, or something that goes completely against the Christian persona she's portrayed (smoking, drinking, etc.)

Although you wouldn't think smoking or drinking would warrant such a strong reaction. Whatever it is, it's serious.

I'm firmly convinced that the Philly guy saw something incriminating, and she had her lawyers scare him off. Because he sure had her wigged out.

Yes I think narcissists are probably often blabbers, mine was. About all kinds of things most people really shouldn't know about. Their marriage, things they didn't like about employees, things they didn't like about their friends or colleagues. Heck even like, look at this rash on my nether regions what do you think? It was bizarre. I was like, is this my spouse or am I just the hired help?

I think it's a boundaries thing. We do know that narcissist don't respect boundaries. Part of "over-sharing" really is about not having a sense for appropriate boundaries and what's okay to share with someone and what is better left to keep to yourself or just share with those very very close to you.

Nobody Likes a Narcissist (NLAN) said...

Wow, I'm just checking in for the first time this week and it sure is interesting.

If the author does read here, this post is for him/her:

Why did you leak out news of the book by creating a Twitter account and tweeting Kate in the first place? All you did was tip her off so she could lawyer up.

If you do in fact have a book, wouldn't your publisher have the contents cleared by their lawyers? That's done every day in the publishing world for books about public figures. Have the lawyers clear it, then publish the book. If she sues, then the burden is on her to prove there are lies in the book. In the meantime, her suit would give the book its best publicity.

Did your publisher even approve of the Twitter account and tweets to Kate? It seems to have done nothing but give her advance warning and delay the publication of the book. I just don't see how they would have approved of this marketing strategy.

Please get a good attorney and get this thing published! I never thought I'd say this, but I'll buy the Kindle edition as soon as it hits. We've been waiting years for someone to really investigate this mess and finally put all the pieces together.

even though this woman bores me so much that I can barely even get through 5 posts, I will give my two cents regarding who wrote the book. I think it is obvious that it is a writer who has published before. Someone who has interviewed quasi celebrities. Someone who is computer blog literate, may possibly have their own blog/website. Someone who is trying to remain neutral for the sake of helping the kids. I think it narrows it down vastly if you really think about it. And let's not forget; if they have been researching this for a while, it is probably someone who lives in PA. I have no inside info. I just am reading between the lines.

I have a hard time imagining Absentee Mom paying that kind of money when she is so stingy with her kids! But apparently she does!!

The Gosselin book had to have been written by someone who lives near if they interviewed hundreds of people! I hope the book comes out she needs to be exposed! She does not deserve to have all she has especially the most valuable
of all her innocent children!

I want to discuss Jon but I'll do that tomorrow! Night all!!

The author at Gosselinbook.com could post their C&D letter on http://www.chillingeffects.org/ to get their feedback.

(Thanks to my DH for the link)

So the whole book thing sounds rather interesting. It does make one wonder what this person has on Kate that is making her so nervous. I don't know, however, that it's going to be the entertainment blockbuster of the year simply because I don't think many people really care about her anymore.

If Kate is blocking the book, it's because she probably doesn't want there to be any reason or excuse not to hire her to be on the DWTS All Star show. That's my theory.

However, the author at Gosselinbook.com will hopefully be told by their attorney that they are within their rights to write and publish as many unauthorized biographies of Ms. Gosselin as they choose. Self Publishing on Kindle won't help you make a whole heck of a lot of money but it gets the word out, which seems to be this person's goal.

silimom said...

Admin, on the previous thread you made some comments about what Jon had allegedly said in his People interview that made it appear that People too his words out of context or embellished them. Is that the case?

The "Singer" of this law firm is Marty Singer, who represents many celebrities, such as John Travolta, Charlie Sheen, Kim Kardashian, etc. Just google him to see the lawsuits he's been involved in.

He is also the attorney who represented Kate and went after Jon when Jon removed money from their joint bank account.

silimom said...

I think it's something related to the kids, frankly. The whole "Is she or is she not sleeping with Steve" thing is so stupid anyway. Who really cares in the end? She's a has been, washed up reality star and if it came out that she had been sleeping with Steve prior to Jon's first alleged affair, who would frankly care in the real world? The only place it would get talked about would be on the Kate blogs and the sentiment here would be "I knew it!" and the sentiment from her fans would be "Well, can you blame her? Jon was so horrible to her!"

I think it has to do with the conception of the kids, her blatant neglect of their needs and the way she fleeced her early supporters of their time and money.

silimom said...

And yet there is no record on the dvd releases or netflix of either the Disneyland trip nor the RV trip. You have to watch them on YouTube.

Who was the reporter at the Reading Eagle who was told to cease writing about Kate Gosselin because she was "talking the food out of the mouths of her babies" with her articles? Could this be the author of Gosselinbook.com? Just speculating.

Some speculations about things Kate could be worried about:
-she's been in jail
-she engineered the HOM birth (and how she did it)
-she's a lesbian
-she's wealthy
-she had affairs while in the marriage
-she never spends time with her kids and pays people to take almost full-time care of her kids
-she's abusive to her kids
-she broke up Purseboy's marriage
-she's had MULTIPLE plastic surgeries

These are speculations based on reading about the whole Gosselin sage for a number of years. Pure speculation.

Ava said...

After thinking about it some more, I think it's about the kids. Something that Kate has done/does to them. Or something that Kate does to herself that affects the kids. The author wrote that she has tried other avenues to protect them that haven't worked. If something were exposed about her treatment of the kids or something that she does that impairs her ability to care for them, her super mom image would be no more. And that's all she has ever had. When it does come out it's going to look even worse that Kate tried to cover it up.

Yes, I realize that he probably knows better
But this just invalidates what the children know intuitively, if they haven't already had the actual thought, "Hey, my mom doesn't give a crap about me, and only thinks of herself. She's not a very good mother." Now, after Jon's interview, they may be thinking, "Why is Daddy lying and saying my gestational carrier is a good mother?"

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, and it totally screws with their sense of self and sense of reality. If daddy does not see my pain, I must not be worth it.Or maybe my pain isnt real, maybe I am making it up? What's wrong with me that I hurt? If mommy is such a 'great mom', then why do I hurt, why am I afraid of her, why does she hit me and pinch me and physically hurt me, why does she make me be hungry so much, why does she say mean things to me, why does she destroy my things, why doesnt she help me when others are hurting me, why does she say she wants to live away from me, why does she stomp away when I need her, why does she flap me away when I need her...

Mommy is a great mom and yet mommy makes me sad and lonely and makes me hurt inside. So love means you hurt inside... and love means you slap and pinch and say mean things...and daddy says that is 'great'...

More alarming to me than just his public comment, which the kids may not see for a little while, is the fact that he may not be capable of validating the pain and fear that they live in with Kate. It's one thing to comfort your kids and say "Mommy does the best she can, but daddy is always here for you..." but now in order to perfect his doormat demeanor and not upset The Kate, IS he putting blinders on and earplugs in and telling his kids "Lalala, I cant hear you! Kate is great and great is Kate, Lalalala I dont hear you!"

He is still terrified of her in ways even he doesnt understand. 25 years after the end of my abusive marriage, whenever I see his face or hear his voice I still start shaking and am still afraid of upsetting him. Knee jerk reaction.

I don't believe there is a book either. I think it is a hater who went after Kate and is off running scared now that the lawyers have tracked them down through the domain registration. I was glad to see this blog mentioned by Gosselinbook, whoever that might be. I don't post here very often but peek in most days to see what's going on with the crazy K-lady. As for the book, it appears we'll have to ride it out and see where it all ends up. I do agree with one thing Gosselinbook said. Kate seems to want (and seems to desperately need) publicity before she disappears completely like a whiff of fairy dust. If she doesn't have something very damaging to hide, she may have blown a great chance to exploit the drama for her own gain. Think about how she could have whined and sobbed and dabbed at her eyes over the lies! How she could have made the rounds of the talk shows once again to "set the record straight"! Highly unlikely anyone will be very interested in interviewing her about a book that never saw the light of day. And unless it is a book full of outright lies, I also doubt she will be able to block publication of it. There are thousands of these kinds of books on the shelves about celebrities that have been unsuccessfully blocked. Usually celebrities a little more relevant than Kate Gosselin! I say she either has some very big skeletons in her closet that have been uncovered (although how many people would really care about that now?), or she got on her high horse and shot from the hip as usual, before thinking it through. It might have been her last opportunity for a visit to the talk shows to capitalize on the furor. By the time (if and when) this book sees the light of day, she will have become even more invisible to the public as a whole and it may only create a short lived ripple of interest among the few remaining blogs and Twitter. It's a mystery though! Wonder what she's hiding?

Let's throw tomatoes said...

Some people say who cares if she had an affair with Steve or any other unsavory behavior! SHE DOES!! That's all she has ! All she has is being a mother of eight and a talent to outsmart the gullible and to be a very affective scam artist!

WELCOME! I thought of them too... Especially Alison. But I like the idea someone posted above about it being one of the Reading Eagle reporters, also.

We may never know at this rate. But whoever it is, is reading here so hopefully we can encourage them to get this done.

Unless I missed it, did anyone look at her great parenting advice on how to teach your kids to pinch and bite?

Wow, a lot of speculation here! Why can the author not publish this as an unauthorized biography? I read Al W's and Polly K's books and I doubt they were authorized, just observations. If this tome is so lengthy, there must be a lot of substance/topics in it. I would read it (amazon, lol)
I too love a mystery but I am also curious to read this!

Totally could see Jamie writing this book. She was privy to a lot of offscreen crap (if she did such disgusting stuff onscreen, what all did she do offscreen?), she comes off as not the brightest type person (one who could be easily bamboozled by super tramp's 'act'), and she could also be easily riled enough to get bitchy and decide to 'out' the bitch for treating her badly. So, my vote is Jamie. Of course, Ashley could have plennnnnty of reason also, as could Steve, ooooor Tony who didn't know how to teach her, and don't forget every service person who ever had the misfortune to have performed some service for her. Oh, what the hell, I confess, I wrote it. Way back on 'Z on TV' many knew how much disgust I had for her. Oh wait, I didn't write it, I wouldn't have been able to spend that amount of time, energy and concentration on her heinous.

Admin, I'm a bit confused. How can Kate's lawyers halt the publication of the book they haven't even seen? If they haven't seen it, how do they know it's libelous? Or could it be an issue of a "threat" as the writer was taunting Kate through twitter?

Very weird, not the part about Kate kicking up a fuss (NO ONE MAKES MONEY OFF MY FAMILY BUT ME, she probably just cares about the $$$, could give a s-it about the truth) but the fact that the book is on hold.

Maybe the au is simply doing a final fact check to double-triple check all is in order before releasing.

I'm wondering if Gina might be the author. In unguarded moments, Kate may have revealed secrets to her (y'know, when the families were doing stuff together, as, y'know, um, friends). And at the back end, Gina probably heard many a sordid tale from her (former?) husband, not to mention whatever she witnessed/experienced on her own."

I wondered the same thing. Hell hath no fury like a scorned woman. Wouldn't that be sweet justice?

I wonder why Jon did not mention HIS book ( unless i missed it)in the People article- i was under the impression it was forthcoming? However, I still have my doubts that it will see the light of day.

Dwindle: I think people posted in the last thread about that advice, but the topic was overshadowed by the gosselinbook stuff.I also mentioned I though tit weird Jon has to give stickers for not fighting to 8 and 11 year olds!

I'm with NLAN and Dmasy, I question the "I know what you did" stuff and tweeting Deanna about knowing what she wore to Kate's on Easter. BTW, apparently Deanna's twitter is private now due to the dastardly haterz...lol.

The only conclusion I come to is that GosselinBook definitely wanted to get Kate's attention. Putting out the site with the count down clock must not have worked. While it was kind of a 8th grade way to go about it, maybe their strategy was to provoke her so the book goes through legal before it comes out. If they just released to book with no advance notice, Kate would immediately run to NYC with her dabbin' tissues and declare it all lies. If it comes out after being cleared of any false information, that will give it way more credibility and make Kate look extra silly when she cries to Ann Curry's replacement on 'Today.'

To terri who asked how Gosselinbook got the C&D from Kate's laywers, they said it was emailed to them.

Oh boy.

Kate's actions speak volumes.
The skeletons in her closet must be pretty embarrassing & damning.

What the hell did Kate do, and who the hell did she do it to?

-abortion?
-spent time in jail?
-money laundering?
-a secret marriage before Jon?
-embezzled money?
-briefly in a mental hospital?
-lying to doctors to get pregnant?
-prostitution?
-drug absuse/or dealing?

Can I predict that in the end, her excuse will be that she did it for her kids?

John Travolta is being represented by Marty Singer - the 'Singer' in Kate's LA law firm. Can you imagine how much of the kids' money she's spending on trying to keep this book from being published?

Carla has seen/heard a lot over the years. She has known Kate since high school. Kate seemed to 'use' her friendship and Carla's good heart to get what she wanted (baby-sitter, maid, errand-girl) However, I don't think Carla is as savvy (internet, publicity-wise) as the book author seems to be...

Fun to speculate on authors:

Beth
Ashley
Jamie - my personal favorite guess
Purseboy
Jason? long shot
Werny Girl

I’ll tell you this much to put your mind at ease; I’m not a member of your immediate or extended family and I’ve never signed a confidentiality agreement, so you don’t have to worry about either of those two things. More importantly, any information I may or may not have has been obtained legally, beyond question.

and
I have zero interest in trying to intentionally harm Kate Gosselin emotionally or do damage to her reputation. This project is and has been from the first day of writing, about protecting the children. I’ve tried several other private avenues to accomplish this to no avail. Kate is simply too well insulated.

Those two paragraphs make me think that it might be Jodi's sister. The writing seems similar.

Whether anything comes of this book or not, this is what happens when you choose to be a public figure- emphasis on CHOOSE- then try to portray a false virtuous persona. I'm sure every PR person who Kate came in contact with tried to warn her about this, but 'ol Keystone Katie from Berks county knew better than these professionals. When you make yourself out to be perfect, a perfect mother, have a perfect life and make everything you touch perfect, you paint an enormous red bullseye on yourself. You get paparazzi in Wernersville, PA camping outside your fence. You have to get ironclad confidentiality agreements from everyone you come in contact with so they don't tell that you aren't perfect. You have to frequently make the rounds of the morning talk shows to "set the record straight" and tell more lies to spin your latest scandal.

Kathie Lee Gifford tried that ruse in the 90s and it turned out horribly. People were constantly checking on the overseas factories that made her walmart clothes. One of the rag mags got a woman Frank was having an affair with to set him up in a hotel room w/ a camera. She became roundly despised for constantly taking about her perfect kids and how wonderful she thought she was. She finally went away. For a long time.

Kate should have figured out a long time ago that when pretends to be something she's not, it doesn't end well. Yet she keeps doing it and then can't fathom why she people who want to challenge and dispute her lies. Either she's that mentally ill, that dumb, that smart or a bit of all 3.

Yes, I mentioned this a few weeks ago - Julie had strong opinions on the saga and went quiet years ago. I always thought she'd eventually come forward.

&&&

The one where she said she has mixed feelings on pinching a sweet little two year old back and then assured the child's mother she wasn't raising a monster? (Phew!) Yeah, I saw it. I wonder if she has "mixed" feelings on adultery, stealing, and lying too.

Kate is a twit said...

I had thought it might be Julie too, but isn't she considered "extended" family as she is Kate's sister-in-law's sister?

If no one knows who the author of this book is how did they receive a cease and desist letter from Kate's attorneys. That's the part about this entire book thing that has me totally baffled. Still hoping it's true though and that this book will be published.

&&&

That part's easy. Every domain company even if you keep your registration private has an address to contact you. Like say it's GoDaddy, they have a business address. When you don't know a web site author you send a cease and desist, you would send it to GoDaddy and then they are obligated to forward it on to you. I received mine directly through my email on this site, however, they also sent a copy to my domain host's business address, who forwarded it to me.

Pink(182)-there she goes putting words into the kids' mouths again. She's still trying to push how much the kids miss the crew and filming. I don't believe a word of it.

These are the last 2 paragraphs from the People article:

And for the first time in three years, he and Kate are on speaking terms. "Now Kate and I communicate great", he says. "It's parenting together, but in separate locations. SHE'S A GREAT MOTHER". After unsuccesssfully trying in 2009 to get his kids taken off their spin-off show Kate Plus 8, which ended last September, Jon no longer opposes the brood returning to TV. "They miss it". he says. "Now it's different. They're older. I WANT THE BEST FOR THEM."
And for himself, whatever the future holds. Gosselin, who has a book expected to come out this fall, won't rule out a return to show business. "I have to think about my kids", he says. "I want to make them proud."

So Radaronline wasn't taking anything out of context. He didn't simply say "She's a mother" , he said she was a good mother.

Another interesting thing he said was that he wanted to stop filming in August of 2008 . I'm not sure if this was a fact that was previously out there (when did they film that 'wedding" in Hawaii?).

Please don't think I rushed out to buy People, I get it delivered to my Kindle Fire every Friday morning, lol.

I think the kids are biologically theirs. They look like Jon- not Kate so much, but Alexis definitely has Caucasian in her, hence so do her womb mates. If they were Jon's but not hers I think Kate would have shunned them when no TV show reared its head at them in recent years.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I know non-bio kids who look just like their parents (they tried to find an egg donor who looked like the mom), to the point where I was shocked to find out, but I don't think that's the case here. When you have to go that far in doing fertility treatments to have a baby, I think it usually takes years. You have to get all kinds of tests to make sure this step is necesary, find a donor you like, time your cycle with your egg donor, all that jazz. Not, what was it, the six weeks it took Kate?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Did she remind the kids about how someone working on their show loved to dabble in child pornography?

Did she explain to the kids that it's extremely unlikely the same crew would come back should they get another show? That they all are probably committed to other projects and they'd have to find all new strangers?

Could she help the kids get involved in more activities like sports, scouting, church groups, after school groups and make more age appropriate friends?

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Los Angeles man who wrote a book about his alleged gay encounters with John Travolta filed a libel lawsuit on Thursday against the actor and his attorney.

Robert Randolph claimed that Travolta and his attorney Martin Singer spread false statements about his mental health in 2010 in a bid to dissuade the public from buying his planned book. His is seeking unspecified damages in the legal action filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Singer called Randolph's lawsuit "absurd," saying it was based on a private letter to the publisher of a gossip blog and "was completely privileged under the law".

Sounds like a cut copy and paste M.O.; I hope gosselinbook is strong and will stand up for what is right, if there is truth in their assertions.

But..there is a :( beside Aaden's comment about the film crew. Kate got the idea out there, though, that the kids have TV first thought on their minds. I highly doubt that after all this time and all the 'friends' (ahem) who have visited lately. Who could this friend be and why keep it a secret- that's silly.

OrangeCrush said...

It's interesting that in the same week that Jon is in People and gosselinbook is about to publish, that Kate announces 'surprise' guests for the weekend. Maybe she's going to trot out the grandparents, NOTHING would surprise me in her desparate grab for attention.

But the thought of what she is paying her LA lawyers for this "threat" boggles the mind, guess there are some deep pockets that the poor struggling mom can still tap into. If thus book tells the truth, and is not libel, no case - there are plenty of unauthorized bios out there talking about far more important people than Kate Gosselin. Ask Barack & Michelle Obama, or Mitt Romney, about it.

If I were going to speculate...I would be with the posters who think it might be Aunt Jodi's sister, Julie.

For a 37 chapter book about her highness to even begin to be remotely interesting, the information has to be from the beginning through the present. Not just one blip, like "she and Skeeve are an item".

Wouldn't a narcissist be so excited to have 37 chapters about "little ole me"?

Add to the list of possible bad things that could be revealed - what about unnecessary Benadryl usage? (how did those kids take such long naps??)

About Jon's People article. Not sure I see the purpose of this (but, then I am a private person).

Yes I totally agree. Kids live in the moment. They're not thinking about the rotating string of people holding boom mics from nine months ago, they're thinking about people in their lives now. It's funny one time my friend who has two adorable boys, under 10 at the time, told them a "surprise" friend was coming over (me), guess who it is? Who did they say? Grandma! Why? Because Grandma had just been visiting two days before. Kids live in the moment.

I totally agree. It really sounds like the kids miss the traveling... not so much the filming. It's sad that they equate going places to being filmed :(

Good news though for both Jon & Kate! The kids CAN be taken on vacation and it doesn't have to be filmed! It is so easy these days to get on the interwebs and set up a vacation to anyplace you might want to go! Here's the thing, there will be a part of the process when they ask for payment. You get the plastic thing out of your wallet and type in the information on the nice & secure website. Try it. Millions of people arrange and pay for vacations for their families every day. No camera crew needed.

Winsomeone said...

At one time, Kate claimed the film crew were all like "daddies" to her children, and that they would be in their lives forever, just like family. If that is the case, how can they miss people who supposedly never left their lives?
