My husband coached Little League and select (club) teams for 9 years. I can't say enough about how great it is for girls to play a team sport. They learn the importance of collaborating with others in order to achieve a goal and have the self-esteem to stand up for themselves--which I think is especially important for girls. I put in a lot of time sitting on those hard benches, cheering for my girls and their team mates, and, at times, defending my husband's honor. As adults, my daughters are so appreciative of our commitment to their activities and that we focused our lives around them. Words that Kate will never hear!

I was just watching my DVR'd Fashion Police (guilty pleasure) and they were doing the segment called "Starlet or Streetwalker", where the hosts have to guess if a picture of someone with that big black bar over their face is a starlet or streetwalker. They have paddles that say one or the other on each side. A picture was shown of an overly tanned person in a bikini top with major boob leakage. When it was Giuliana Ransic's turn to guess she said "Isn't it obvious it's Kate Gosselin! Am I right?" . Then she said "Oh wait, which side of the paddle should I hold up then?"

I have always thought that Jon and Kate delayed sending them to preschool so that they could film the crap out of them. If its true that the twins didn't start until first grade, then, ditto. Nothing like having to go to work to support your deadbeat parents before you are old enough to start school.

So Kate can chase after her 8 "faster, better" she has flown across the country to run 13.1 miles. In no way is this a criticism of her desire to be fit, but it just makes no sense on any level. She claims to have run a full marathon in Las Vegas, and as any runner will tell you, you then train to run another marathon to better your time. Let's face facts, this is a fun trip and another example of her running "faster, better" away from her children!
She is not a serious runner and neither was I. I ran many 10K's and a few half-marathons but didn't have the discipline, drive or passion to do what it takes to run marathons. I know myself and do not pretend to be something I am not. Kate may prove me wrong, but my guess is that her running is more about the destination than it is the race.
Let's brace ourselves for the carb-loading of Danish pastries and donuts! There will be pictures I'm sure.

They didn't delay sending them to preschool. They went to church preschool when they should have, then to Junior K, and then to Kindergarten. They all were put into Junior K because they weren't ready for the Kindergarten program.
Ex Nurse 4 -- I'm not sure I understand your statement. The little kids attended preschool, although not at the school they currently attend. One of the episodes filmed during KKs "book tour" with her married companion, showed Jon feeding the kids lunch and TAKING them to preschool. They attended Jr.K at, I believe, the school they attend now. According to a statement Jon made on the show, this is because some tested ready for K and some didn't so the decision was made to keep them all together and hold back the ones who were ready. Whether this was also for the reason you speculate (filming the crap out of them) or not is up for grabs. Personally, I think it was a bit of both reasons. It's clear from watching the show that the younger kids are behind in their development, most likely due to their gestational carrier's infantilization of them. The twins attended K at, I believe, the school they currently attend, although I may be wrong about that. They've been pulled out of classes for trips (for filming) a number of times, as well-documented on the show, but I don't think there's anything to demonstrate that they were delayed or denied a school experience just for the sake of filming. They are entering 6th grade at age 11, which is the same age as their peers.

Kate did bully Jon. Didn't she say later that she was "hard" on him? Her excuse at the time though was that he was like a 9th child and had to be treated like one, therefore justifying her behavior.
That is how bullies operate. Because I spend my days with adolesents, I have watched the patterns become crystal clear over the years. As you said, bullies are livid if someone bullies or slights them. In their mind, they have a reason for what they do and it's is always a legitimate one. They feel it is their place to say exactly what they think out loud, no matter how hurtful it could be to someone. I have a student who constantly back talks us and rolls her eyes at us. She is also quite mean to other students. But when we speak to her, if you even slightly appear to show frustration with your eyes or in any other way, she sneaks her phone out and texts her mother to put us on blast. The girl has plainly said- she shows us disrespect because we deserve it. However, we are never supposed to tell her anything she doesn't want to hear or that would make her upset.
Another trait I've noticed is when you tell a group to stop a behavior, the non-bullies will stop and the bullies will continue. They don't consider themselves in the same pecking order as the other kids, you couldn't possibly be speaking to THEM! After a second demand to stop, they usually will, but not without several curse words under their breath. They have to have a the last word.
Where do the bullies come from? Three different catagories of families. Number one is when a kid has parents for bullies. They grow up watching their parents be angry, demanding and forceful with anything and anyone who gets in their way. They watch rules be bent in exchange for this kind of behavior. These parents think they are just being "assertive". As I said above, bullies like to re-label their behavior into something more sanitized. Kate's father is said to have been this way.
The second is kids who come from a bad homelife. Bullying becomes a way to survive, vent pain and feel like they have some power and control.
Third and on a much smaller scale is the talented athlete. It can be a boy or girl, but in my experience it's mostly boys. These kids can come from lovely homes and have wonderful parents. However, as their skill in their sport increases, so does the mollycoddling. To keep the kid from maybe looking into going to private school, certain favors are given, certain (if not most) bad behaviors are ignored and many promises are made. It's a recipe for disaster. These kids are never told no. This is why you hear about so many of them getting into trouble when they get to college. You can't believe they would they do such terrible things and ruin everything they have going for them? But it never occurs to them that they will ever be held accountable.
Beautiful day in San Diego. Kate woke up a "star and celebrity" -- the center of attention in her own life. Ready to focus on getting ready for her monumental run.
Why, her day is so full that she does not have time to keep her twitter fan updated on her amazing activities.

what is the age cut-off for the G kids' school? if it's December, then M and C should have started K at 4, turning 5, so may be a year behind technically. I know we talked about this before and why people might hold kids back, especially if near the deadline, but just saying- maybe the cut-off there is August though and they are right on track.

I live in SE PA and the cut off for most school districts is September 1. Private schools tend to follow the guidelines of the district in which they reside. The twins are exactly where they should be.

We will miss you and I'm sorry for this jolt in your life, but I understand your need to step away, as I've done it before too. Kate is Krazy -- I think most schools/school districts are using end of August/September as a cut off these days. Besides, the twins were already in K when the show started, so what would have been the point of holding them back a year? They clearly were bright and advanced for their age. On the very early shows, Mady read quite well for her age and both she and Cara had excellent vocabulary skills.
Banjo On My Knee -- N. and S. Carolina are part of the deep South, too and are Eastern time zone. Eastern Tennessee is -- I'm not sure where the dividing line is in the state, but Knoxville and Chattanooga are Eastern. I don't know about Alabama, but I think the panhandle of Florida is Central, so Alabama probably is, too.
Regarding holding back her little kids a few years back:
I don't recall how many of the kids required being held back(1?2? boy? girls?etc), but I can somewhat see why Kate AND Jon held all of them back together.
I have twins, and I see them as individuals, yet they are also twins. Twins are special, they have been together literally since conception, have never known life without the other, and never known anything different than being a twin.
If my twins had vastly different educational needs (say, one was gifted, one was not, etc) it would be very

if my twins were different concerning academic abilities, it would be a difficult decision to place one on a gifted track, and the other another,...also, it would be very hard to hold one back and not the other.
I don't know how many of the G kids that needed to be held back, but I can understand WHY they did it. Being a multiple is a STRONG BOND. It's better that they were held back early. Their birthday falling in the spring is also an impediment concerning school readiness and maturity.
Holding back some of them would cause a multitude of problems, and I can certainly understand their reasoning in holding all of them back. It would be a very hard decision to make.

There is nothing wrong that. Plenty of runners choose their races based on location. It's like combining a vacation with a run. The only negative is she is leaving her children behind.

I meant to say that they were held back from kindergarten and that it is my opinion it was for filming. Earlier in the thread, someone said that the twins started in first grade--I took that to mean that they never attended kindergarten, and, that if that was true, it was due to filming. I know that they are in the appropriate year for their age.
Pre-school, Pre-k, junior kindergarten are all the same thing--IMO. Some preschools may call each age group different labels, some schools have combined ages in each class.

Kate made the best decision by holding back all 6 from kindergarten, even though 4 were ready. I have a very good idea who the two were that were not mature enough/academically ready, but I'll keep that to myself.
Many parents push kids into K when they are NOT ready, and it makes it very difficult for both the student and the teacher. Today's Academic Standards are very high, and many of the skills we once taught in grade one are now Standards for K. I'm curious to see if LCDS adopts the Common Core Standards that most states have begun implementing. The CCS eliminate discrepancies between different states' Standards and create what are essentially National Standards. Not all states are participating, though. Some have opted out.
So now that they have finished grade one (when most should have finished grade two), the two who were not ready have hopefully caught up, and the other 4 most likely are excelling with curriculum they should have already completed the year before.
The academic demands of this school are high, and I hope all of them do well!
We chuckle over the stupidity of some of the sheeple, and shake our heads over their comments and questions. I picked up the local newspaper this morning and read some of the questions asked of the visitor's bureau in Lancaster County. Among them were, "How long is the gestational period of an Amish woman? How long is she pregnant?
I thought about the sheeple and wondered if the person who asked this is a Kate fan! It has all of the earmarks of a sheeple.
They held the six back for no doubt nefarious reasons (does Khate really have any other kind of reasons haha). The twins are in the right year IMO. The only reason it seemed to hold either twin back would have been for emotional and maturity development. I remember there was a little discussion that they were or did hold the twins back so that they would be in school with the tups for an extra year, therefore allowing them to act as the tups 'babysitters' for a year longer. But so long as there are two classes at the school they attend that should give twins enough autonomy to be themselves while still leaving them in the same year to be together. That is what is advised by most educators for twins.
I think holding all the tups back when not all of them needed it was the wrong choice, for educational and psychological reasons.

I know that their parents have done a multitude of wrongs concerning the kids, filming, and other stuff, but surely to heaven they weren't held back for filming...I have a hard time even grasping that concept.
The twins have fall bdays, and probably received much more stimulation (reading, play, etc) than their younger siblings did. Having 6 babies at once, there is just no way any parent could provide enough one on one time with each child. Add in the kids working, you have a recipe for poor academic performance.
When I think of how Kate treated her children, the clip of one of the boys rocking himself for comfort always comes to mind..that was such a disturbing sight, just proves these children didn't receive the nurturing and affection needed in their formative years.

The tups had trouble separating from parents at the church childcare- Leah vomited, all cried. I guess being together all the time made new environments difficult. I thought a lot had to do with being preemies, but the chewing on cloth diapers at age 4, poor speech, yes, the rocking, unaware of what plastic vegetables were, poor general knowledge, etc did show that the kids were a little behind- maybe many HOM are? In a way school might have advanced them, being out of a restricted, selective environment?

Westcoaster, my heart goes out to you, honestly. I have had that experience with a co worker. No one knows what happened to her, but she was never found. I still have her business card and she had scribbled her home phone # on it and a happy face. It gave me chills for so long that someone could hard another person.
Being a nurse and working the ER I have seen so much and I find that I do close myself off to people, as I have seen what I think are wonderful people harm each other while drinking and fighting.
That is why I write this, I cannot understand how Kate has custody of her children. She cannot stop showing the world who they are, where they are, how they now look, where they live, when she isn't home. What a selfish, not bright person this is. I don't care how much barbed wire you have around you, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. She creates this environment for her children. She has encouragement the Paps to focus on her. Never did anyone have to know where she lived, but she had to film on her lavish estate. Had to get even with those whom she knows who never thought she would have so much materially. I do think she bullied Jon and that is how she married him so fast, got pregnant so soon, when he was so young? Karma.
I know how Westcoaster feels, no matter what we say, we will never get Kate to understand that we are strangers who do not like her and her actions regarding those kids. But people in Hollywood, NY and the media do not like her, they do not like anything about her. Otherwise she would be on TV in some way. But her K+8 really showed who she was all along, not a Mom, but a terrible person using her children to get on TV. Never will I believe she even knows what love is and I hope that Jon shows those kids as much love as he can, always.If the bodyguard is with her? It is not to guard her, not at this point. Yes, also if you are a serious runner, you are outside running in cold, heat, rain, you are dedicated, not jogging on a treadmill.

Going for her "personal best time", saying that 1/2 marathons are so much more fun? How many has she run in to make this grand comparison? Ya know what is so sad, is that she really does believe she is an expert now. Just like giving birth TWICE made her an expert on that. And for Jon to state why the tups were held back, I think Kate told Jon what to say(Kate was incharge, with TLC's help), cause it was her decision not Jons. Kate did not want those kids to grow older, (even now), did not want them to be separate, for anything, the tups have to do everything together, dress, play, sports, music, etc, whether they like it or not, cause they were born together, and must live life together, as a set, 6-pak, unit, team etc. They can not be individuals. (in Kates mind). Like I said earlier, it will be up to the tups to break that assine thinking, the twins did it, the tups will too.

I agree with what you are saying. As far as I am concerned, Kate can fly anywhere in the world and run her half or full marathons, do Triathalons, Ironman's whatever she chooses, I do not care.
However, what does bother me is her selective spending. ANY outing, (other than routine trips to Target) seem out of the question for her children now. Her built-in excuse is the "ensuing mayhem" theory. BUT, if someone ponies up with a free trip for all of them, it suddenly becomes do-able. She is a shallow, transparent, self-centered wannabe, and if her kids aren't yet on to her, they soon will be.
Here is a funny little malapropism I heard today. I was sitting on the bleachers at my kid's baseball game and a father and his young 3 or 4 year old son were sitting in front of me. The boy asked, what happened to the batter? The father explained that he struck out, so had to go back to the OUT HOUSE. (instead of dugout). I giggled to myself. He never caught his error.

I also cant stand Kate and cant wait until she is completely gone. I just got home from the hospital after having brain surgery. I was admitted on 5/18/12 with a brain aneurysm. I was told I was super lucky because it was the largest one they had eve seen. I am also able to speak and walk and i didnt die. i am still super weak and tired but feel so grateful to be here. I want to prove to God that my life was worth saving and I want to do somethihing to help this world,I was given a second chance and want to use it to help in someway. While i was in the hospital forever I used my phone to read you ladies so thank you all for keeping me entertained. I love you all even though I have never met any of you personally. Im sorry for being OT I just wanted to say thanks for being there. Im barely typing this so sorry for all typos and spelling

It may have changed but RNR asked that people refrain from using headphones. I am not doing it this year bc of a foot injury, but i have seen some pretty good collisions involving people who were completely oblivious to anything around them bc of their music. RNR provides bands at each mile, that should be enough. You see tons of people breaking that rule though......looks like kate will be as well.

Kate is most likely signing her up for the Mobile Runner Tracking program, that sends text message updates on the runner's times. This is how the program works:
"As you cross the mat and your time is recorded, we send that information to our computers. Once we get an athlete's time, we crunch the numbers, and create a text message, which is then delivered to anyone that has opted-in to track you during the event."
The marathon site will also have live updates like last year. The link for it isn't available until race time, so the sheeple think it won't be provided.

Rock n Roll Marathon has bands along the course, but not every mile. It would be easy enough for runners to just keep their headphone volume low enough to be able to hear what's going on them, if they must insist on wearing their headphones, or just keep one headphone in.

They're the same updates. They show the time that a runner crossed the timing mat at a particular interval in the race.
I thought someone said that Jenny Masche was also running. I put in her name and she doesn't come up. I tried her current name, former name and maiden name with just "J" as the first initial. I also tried her husband's name(I think someone said he was running too)--nothing comes up for either of them.

I would also like to say please please appreciate your family and friends, as i lay in the hospital my mother was there 24-7. every family member was there during the 8 hour surgery and every day I had my brother,my aunts,and cousins there with me stroking my arm, feeding me popsicles and holding my hands through 4 spinal taps praying the whole time that they didnt lose me. The first week I couldnt handle any visitors but my mom but everybody was still there just waiting for a chance to see me. The second week was a little better but my family was always there no matter what telling me how much i was loved and they would not bear it if they lost me. please appreciate your loved ones thats what matters most not owning the newest car or having the best of everything. just being able to type this is a miracle. the drs called me their miracle because im the same person i was before all this happenned. i am still super weak and tired but i was just released last night so im taking it easy and staying in bed all week. I have a wonderful husband that just stands in my doorway to make sure I dont need anything. My son who is a devoted christian was constantly praying and more than once I caught him wiping tears away at my bedside. I feel so blessed I cant even express it in words. Kate is the last person on my mind,she doesnt deserve what she has but she really doesnt have anything, if this were to happen to kate who would sit at her bedside prAying she would live. I highly doubt there would be anyone there for her comforting her. Whats sad is she doesnt even understand whats importnt in life it sure isnt having the biggest house or the fanciest car. Thank you guys again for all the nice comments, its bedtime for me now. I have church tomorrow to thank the lord for saving my life and giving me a second chance

Oh my gosh, little Milo is so precious and always good for a laugh. She's defending Kate's diss of Hispanic Elvis, saying those things are so crowded and it's always chaos. That's BS. It's not crowded tonight. In fact, it's closed. The race will be crowded tomorrow, sure, but you don't spend all day at the expo and they are not football sized stadiums full of vendors either. Banjo, not to beat the point to death, but I once lived in Phenix City, Alabama. It's true they follow Eastern time zone, but they aren't actually IN the Eastern time zone. They only follow it because they are right across the river from Columbus, Georgia and that IS in the Eastern time zone and is a much bigger city than Phenix City.
A lot of people live in PC but work and go to school in Columbus, so it's easier to just set all your clocks to Georgia time rather than remember you're an hour behind. ;)
It's confusing, but yes, all of Alabama IS in the Central time zone. They just act as if they aren't in a couple of tiny places on the eastern border.
In other words, Wacky Milo is most likely not in Alabama. ;) I remember she's in Georgia.
As for watching Kate's progress during the half-marathon, ha! As if. I have a lot going on tomorrow, but even if I didn't, I think that would be the last thing I'd do.

It will be interesting to find out how many days she needs to recover from this since she has said that she runs 10 miles all the time. She should be go to go right after!! Let's smack her together! There was no excuse not to set up a meeting with H.Elvis. She has known that he is in SD since he first started twitting with her. She could have contacted him months, weeks, or days before and set up a small meeting the day before the run or even after. Her excuse that she hadn't checked her twitter Sat. doesn't fly. She always has to be in control of a meeting with a fan.
She has to be "too busy" to spend more than a short time talking with them. It is also seems they have to pay for the 'honor' (gag) of meeting her. That is why they never had a meet and greet in MO. She couldn't come up with something to pay her for meeting them besides that speaking engagement.

As much as we make fun of Milo, I think she did a great job reporting on Kate's run. She must be in her glory!

I thought that at first, too. Then I remembered that she is spending the kid's money on her little fun trip.
She's too frugal to buy 3day glasses, take them to the movie, let them join outside activities, can't afford to take them on vacation, yet she went to LV for HER bday, went on a speaking engagement that made her disappear for days, and now this little trip. She makes the kids eat 32 boxes of 99 cent cereal and wear clothes three sizes too big, but she sees nothing wrong with going from PA to CA on the kid's dime.
She doesn't get a well done from me. Not by a long shot.
It's amazing how Effie, and avid Kate supporter say that Kate is an avid runner. To be even called an avid runner one has to run everyday, bad weather or not. Kate is not an avid runner, she even admits, there are days she does not run, even when she is in NYC, I bet she doesn't even run at all. Kate is such a fraud. So she made it just under 2 hours, not be much. A real runner would call that luck, considering, she does not spend that much time running. Or a real runner would not even consider her time even great.
I wonder how much she spend on this trip? But too cheap to take the kids anywhere, even local trips.

Yes, she did. Good for her, and she did it without riding to the finish line. I guess this is Milo's claim to fame. She will now forever be known as Kate's personal assistant, her roving reporter. She'll be getting a plethora of kudos from the sheeple, and will be talking about this for some time. I guess that's the goal of all sheeple -- to be able to say that they "know" a "celebrity," without ever meeting them. It's sad when you think about it, but it's all they have.

How is this clear joke "simply sickening?"
From the other thread I wanted to make another point about private school and college admission rates. It's sort of a freakeconomics thing in my opinion. It's not really the school itself responsible for college rates though I'm sure they would be horrified to think otherwise. After all that's how they draw in people. Parents who send their kids to private school generally have higher incomes and by default those who care about all the options like private school (even if in the end you pick public school) care about their children's education.
The fact of the matter is, college rates for kids from families with a decent or better income and families who care about education are very high, no matter if you send your kid to school in a shack or Eton. Poorer families who don't care about education don't have good college admission rates.
