Oh NJGal51 can I ever commiserate! I have a seven year old bullie who only wants to "exercise" by walking to the car so he can ride through the drive thru and get his free dog bone. I have the same ones at home and don't get near to that level of excitement ;) His idea of "kisses" is ramming that huge skull with those huge under-bitten canines into my face, one usually srikes a nostril so watch out! Bloody nostrils abound around here and I've had to stop telling Win to stop "kissing" after he shakes to stem the bloody noses. Which leads me to KI's injury. I'm catching up so forgive me if I've missed this idea being posted, but I was having a gown altered for a wedding. First appointment, I dropped off my dress, measurements taken, 2nd appointment, some fine tuning of the gown, 3rd appointment I tried on the dress, was happy with the fit, so I left with my gown. So it is possible to go to a tailor and not have garments with you when leaving if you are going for a fitting.

First of all, Jon doesn't live in Reading. He lives out of the way, so to speak - but still very close to the kids - w/i a 20 minute drive. He does not live in a townhouse, he lives in a three bedroom home, and he has lived in this house for over a year now.
Ellen never lived with him she had her own two bedroom apartment in Harrisburg, and Jon had a TWO bedroom apartment in Wyommissing. (not a one bedroom).

After that died down I feel like she offered herself up to them to keep her in the spotlight and got to maintain control.

I post this thought alot..because it really stands out in my mind about how poor planning and believing your own hype can be a problem. I probably sound like a broken record but ..
How the heck was this woman on tv all these years and not have her home paid off? If you really wanted a forever house then make sure you do something to make that a reality. A 30 year mortage???? After all those seasons? Didn't she think to purchase a house that she could have paid off by now. Didn't they put $300k down? That's plenty to have bough a half mil dollar home with 1/4 the land, a finished basement and more bedrooms than she has now. House would be almost paid off, expenses would be less...and kate wouldn't be worried about money. She could have lived nicely in a medicore way off of her interest and royalties.
If you think about it...By the time kate bought the house her brand was already showing cracks, she was headed for divorce and surely could see the show only had a few season left. Didn't this smart business lady think to live within a certain means just in case TLC booted her? kate lived in the moment and got caught up in free trips..she didn't think of 5 years down the road as a divorced mother of 8 with no tv show footing all the bills.
EVEN IF kate gets another media job..they still are not going to PAY her bills. Instead they will pay her salary. Also a real media job will require her to work long hours - as much or more than nursing for sure. It doesn't matter who owns permissions to the photos. The point is that CC HAS to vet them to ensure the photos are used legally without copyright infringement. I highly doubt Kate is at the computer posting her blog on CC. Everything has to go through a process before it is seen on the CC website.
it's just how publishing works, online or print. Companies have staff members dedicated simply to researching photos and getting permissions for use.

Jon, the former “Hawaiian Eye for the Ladies” and star of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” has finally hit rock bottom and was so down and out that his 65-year-old mother Pamela Castello moved halfway across the state of Pennsylvania to share a townhome with him, say sources.
Pamela pays the rent and shares her beat-up vehicle with the father of eight.
“Jon is going broke – he has no job and I think he has used and abused all the people close to him that helped him financially, like his brother Mark,” revealed an insider.
“He’d wanted his mom to move to the Reading, Pa., area for a while, and since she is almost the only person left that will still help him financially, he talked her into getting a townhouse – and she pays rent.”
Jon, 34, who shares custody of his huge brood with ex-wife Kate, previously lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Wyomissing, Pa., with his 24-year-old girlfriend Ellen Ross, but he ended up losing the pad after she broke up with him in January.
“When Jon and Ellen lived together, Ellen split the rent with Jon’s mother – it’s quite sad, actually,” said the insider.
In December, The ENQUIRER reported that times were so tough for the former IT specialist – who’s now dating single mother-of-three Elizabeth Jannetta – that his beloved BMW was repossessed, and he had to borrow his mother’s beat-up minivan.
“He has eight children to provide for and has to turn to HIS mother to help support him.”

Jon says he works and he was even quoted in an unrelated article about his company. Second, say he did move his mom in with him. Maybe she's ailing or alone now. Thousands of baby boomers move their parents in. It's easier to care for them and it's just the right thing to do. I'm not seeing the big deal. If Kate were talking to her parents and moved them in I wouldn't care either. Off the top of my head I know at least five families who have parents living with them. None of them are even remotely "losers" it's what people are doing now. In other countries this is normal practice certainly in Jon's Asian background. We're the odd ones putting aging parents in homes.

Admin, I was the one who took a huge paycut. It would have been so easy to walk away considering this.
I work from home. It is an oncall situation therefore I am "on" 130plus hours a week and overtime is not given.
I have no life with this schedule but I chose it so I could be home as my sons were teens. I am grateful I was able to. When I move my schedule will become more normal so I figure I just paid my dues to get what I needed - which was being home for my troubled teens.
I am exhausted from lack of sleep often but I like what I do and the people I work with.
If I were selfish I would have said screw it. I could have let bf pay all expenses while I chose not to bring in some money but I could never do that. I have never been unemployed and I will not be if I can help it. I may be working hard for not enough money now but at least I am working. I get benefits, I can help my sons as they start out their lives as new adults.
I also did not want a gap in my resume. If I went with my ego and decided this wasn't good enough then what would that teach my sons? That you walk when things get hard without having a Plan B? That you expect others to support you when you feel you deserve better?
I am mature enough to realize this wont be my position,pay, schedule forever and that I can change jobs whenever I am ready. (moving to another state in 2 months so it would be senseless to look now)
If kate is tweeting about needing money why doesn't she go get a job? Even if it's nursing that would be approx $65k a year. In what universe is that not decent money At least kate would have pride from earning her pay instead of grifting it or exploiting others to get it.
Even if she is living on her interest, wouldn't it be nice to get out of the house, work with others and have the money she earns put away for the future? Once those kids become teens expenses will skyrocket. Is she really going to make the kids work almost full time and go to school as teens to pay their way after they sacrificed their childhoods so kate wouldn't have to work? What a message that would send to the G8. Also, if kate "cant go back" how will she expect her famous offspring too unless she shows them how? kate won't get a job but the kids have to "work" to pay for cars that they have already earned? Why does kate get to spend ALL the money? It was kate PLUS 8 if I remember correctly. Not the kate gosselin show.
She really should be working and stashing some money away for the future is she is as tight financially as she acts. The interest will only dwindle as she dips into it. Why not work now while you are healthy and young enough so you don't have to work so hard later in life?
Since kate already pays for a sitter her expenses for childcare will not change if she works. Working will only ADD money to her life, not take away from.
I do not see how an extra $1000plus a week would NOT come in handy to a large family.
It's not like her days at home are productive. Heck even 25-30 hours a week would give her extra money and leave her time to raise a family
She could work 12 hour shifts on the weekends the kids are with Jon to have more time off during the week.

My mother has NPD, and sometimes the parallels between her and Kate are frightening. To this day, my mother expects a *huge* production for her birthday, and sulks mightily when she only gets anything less. Growing up, I remember dreading her birthday ever year, because she would be angry at my father for not doing enough, but her anger would be directed at us kids.
People often say that the G8 are going to run for the hills when they hit 18, but I'm not so sure. Unless you've been through it, you can't truly appreciate how warped their worldview is - they'll know on some level that things aren't right, but they'll also probably feel tremendous guilt and blame themselves for the disfunction. Speaking from experience, it wasn't until I was in my late thirties (and got sucked into the Gosselin drama for obvious reasons) that I really, truly understood that there was a term for my mother's behavior (NPD), and that nothing I could do would change our relationship.
Couple of sheeple gave CC blog positive review, or rather, gave Kate good review. Other comments not so nice...where are all the tweets Kate mentions which make her feel loved and appreciated? Isn't her Twitter usually an open book? I bet we'll hear more about the awesome cards the kids made, her own delicious cake, and the 10/10 meal she made or that 'friends' took her out to, later.

Yeah, I am certain the NE story on Jon is a smear job, I hope they have to eat their words. Jon is apparently traveling for work today (according to his Twitter), so the unemployed part is clearly nonsense. A couple of people are encouraging him to challenge the NE and sue. If the story is as baseless as it seems, I hope he does.
For someone who didn't want to talk about her bday we sure have been hearing about it alot. Almost a full week. Obviously she is yapping about it at home or the kids would have gave her the cards on her actual birthday.

Twice in one day and I didn't mention that my ex-daughter-in-law spent a month traveling back and forth to ER w/excruciating pain. She was refused pain meds because they couldn't find a reason and believed she was an addict. Finally. she was given the L procedure. It was done improperly and caused a hematoma on her kidney. I was also denied pain meds my 1st stone as I was a university student and it happened on an exam day...thus I was skipping exam and faking pain. Then my record showed I WAS given a pain med but I was NOT. Too young and naive to argue.Probably some nurse or dr misappropriated it (I can say this with conviction as I was a nurse for many years and this is very common, sadly)

I'm confused..If CC vets the photos, meaning they are used with permission, then could that mean they are kate's thus making permission easy? I don't see kate wanting to give the pap credit and $. Maybe CC uses them for the blog, why why not just have kate supply her own current photos?

You know what I find sad? That whoever gave that info to the tabloids has such a pathetically sad world view that they see a family helping out each other especially when one is aging as a negative thing. That's just so disappointing. I suppose these people will turn their aging parents away and stick them in a lonely old folks home and not blink an eye. Kate needs to remember someday she might want to live with her kids instead of a home and are they being taught this is a good thing, or inexplicably, something to be ashamed of? Kate you too will get old. At least one parent is showing the kids how to love, respect and take care of the people who took care of you when you too were helpless.

You speak as if it is fact that Jon has moved in with his mother to "help her." We don't know that he is living with his mother and if so we don't know the reason. You are creating a scenario in your head that has no foundation in fact and then analyzing the "world view" of the "insider" based on something that you have fabricated.

EM, I think you are way over-thinking this.
It doesn't matter who has rights to the photo. CC, or any other publisher, just has to make sure whoever owns the photos allows permission to use them. I could own them, you could own them, Oscar the Grouch could own them, anyone could own them .... But the LEGAL responsibility belongs to the publisher (in this case CC), to ensure that permission is secured.
Getting permission isn't "easy" or "hard." All it is is contacting whoever owns the image and asking to use it. The owner of the photo can charge, not charge, barter, whatever they want in exchange for allowing use of the photo. Or the owner could say no, you can't use it.
I have no idea who owns the photos. If a pap photo belongs to a pap, Kate has nothing to do with getting or giving credit. It's irrelevant, as the pap is the owner and that is who CC would have to contact. Kate would not be involved in the discussion.
I posted originally because a number of people posted that Kate was stealing photos to use. There is no way a business would use an image without permission, as it could cause a lot of problems for them. I hardly think Kate is even involved in the photos. There is probably an edit asst or somebody who has to get the photos to go along with the post.

No, you're missing the point. You created a scenario in which Jon was moving in with his mother to help her out. That scenario is not the one claimed by the source. The source claimed that Jon was moving in with his mother because he's broke. If the story were in fact true (and I'm certainly not saying that it is), there is nothing positive about a thirty-something year old man who has to move in with his mother so she'll pay the rent. That is the story that was put forth, not one about moving in to help an aging parent. Why in the world are you assuming that the source thought Jon was moving in to help his mother and found that to be a bad thing? It's completely irrational.

And this is the woman who is a "sweet old lady," according to Cindy Cardella??? Cindy, you need to get the blinders off STAT. This was a pretty benign comment, as comments about Kate go, and CJ just went BERSERK.

My Opinion. I think her blogs are useless. I tend to think Coupon Cabin only hired her for hits due to her polarizing personality. I think they don;t care what she writes as they know it will be looked at and discussed. So..maybe it is worth a it to them to spend a few minutes contacting the owner for permission.

I do agree with you that it is increasingly common for family members to move in with each other due to this economy, and I see no shame in it. She has no idea when she was born, so she just throws a date around every year and decides which one she likes best, depending on the weather. Tamara I don't think that's accurate. Most of us didn't believe the dance moms story that was just printed about Kate and said so. NE appears to have a bad source for Jon and Kate since the past several articles about both were wrong. NE however is not always wrong or even most of the time wrong. But a bad source is a bad source.

Jon first responded that the NE article was bs. He said that he didn't move to a town house, that he was still in his house and that he had a job. He then had a string of twitters where he was obviously annoyed, and said he should write a book about everyone who had spoken badly about him, along with photographs, with the last twitter saying that he was joking. Those are the comments he deleted.
Since he didn't mention his mother at all, I suspect that he did move her in with him, but NOT to help him pay rent because he is broke, but as Admin said, because having an aging parent live with you is a good thing!

CC is a business and they need professional photos, not some taken by a hack.
I think people are forgetting that Kate does not have the rights to the CC blog. CC owns it and can do what they want, Kate is the contractor. It has nothing to do with Kate being lazy (even though she is). CC calls the shots, Kate doesn't, unless she had it written specifically into her contract.
Some companies subscribe to services where they have access to a third-party photo database, others have staff photographers, others hire contractors, and others see photos they like and then see if they can get permission to use them. Unlike how Kate operates, CC is a business and online publication and needs to act as such.
And Kate may have NO say in what photos are used. It's not her blog, it's CC's blog.
I work in publishing (teaching was not for me) and have done licensing and permissions as well as budgeting for licensing and permissions for both print and online use.

Hard to believe she actually linked Coupon Cabin in her tweet. She probably doesn't know they are accepting comments, the majority of which are not complimentary. She was likely expecting only birthday wishes. She is in for quite a surprise. It's a wonder some of the comments have not be deleted. It wasn't CJ who made the cat comment, it was someone calling her out--it was HER cat that got left when she went to India. And after that comment, she toned down . . . somewhat.
I wonder if this isn't CC's way of justifying why Kate cannot be an effective blogger for them. By the way, since CJ retweets so many of Kate's CC comments, CC often tweets their thanks to her. If anyone at CC actually pays attention to this stuff, I wonder what they think of THIS personality.

I learned in an 'earthy' type of prenatal class I took that you could cook it, add onions etc and it's very tasty, full of hormones, vitamins etc...but, not i did not do that! But animals do it so it must have some value to the mother's strength and recovery I guess!
I think in different cultures it normal for different generations of family members to live together. That may explain why Jon is living with his mom...whether she moved in with him or he moved in with her is pointless. His dad is already gone, and if his mom is in her late 60s (guessing on that one) he may want to spend as much time with her as he can. And if Grifty is somehow mocking him for that, then she is lower than pond scum.

If Jon's mom is only 65, she is NOT OLD...my gawd, I get sick of ageism. I'm not that old YET, but I'm not far behind. I've always looked young for my age (with no cosmetic help of any kind). When I was Kate's age, I had a 5-year-old daughter and remember taking her out to eat with me...the wait staff thought she was my little sister. Even when she was in highschool, one of her friends saw me with her and wanted to know if I was her friend or her mom. We don't all look like hags once we pass 50.

I personally take issue with that. My husband and I helped our daughter and her French husband by having them move in with us, rent-free. He needed time to get a green card and she wanted to return to school to get her teaching certificate. My parenthood doesn't stop at age 18.
Jon has big responsibilities, and, if there is a kernel of truth, there is no shame in asking family for help--unless, of course, you have turned your back on them while you (and by you, I of course mean, Kate) were amassing your millions. I am blessed in that I was in a position to help them, and it was a wonderful bonding time for us. I became much closer with this daughter--in a way that, unfortunately, doesn't happen until later in life. Believe me , both of us--everyone in our family, actually--is shocked at how well it worked out. Admin was simply giving a different perspective, if the facts of the story are correct.
If Jon needed help, good for him to stepping up to his responsibilities and asking. If it is true, it proves that, unlike Kate, he meant it that he will always put the kids first---No. Matter. What. This doesn't take money from taxpayer or the state or selling anyones childhood. Anyone that, unlike Kate, doesn't appear to have been raised by wolves, would do the same--even at personal cost. In any case, Jon is a private citizen (albeit, with a PR firm), and until he makes his life public, it isn't any of my business.

No, there's not. Just like there is NO SHAME in working a mediocre job. Any job you work that is not illegal or unethical (like exploiting kids, prostitution, drug trading etc) is a decent job and you should hold your head high.
Ex Nurse, good for you. Families moving in together happens all the time and more and more frequently for various reasons which include older family members needing someone around or a younger family member needing some help. Especially if you are WORKING too and trying to get back on your feet, I don't see one darn thing wrong or negative about it.
It used to be you were considered "pathetic" to live with your parents after college or beyond. Now that is very common and I would never fault anyone for doing that while they get back on their feet. It's a tough world out there. And even tougher when you are being milked for every last dime of child support. I haven't lived at home since I was 18 BUT if I got into a situation where I had to I know my family would welcome me with open arms, without judgment and I WOULD DO THE SAME FOR THEM AND THE KNOW IT. I love my family and they love me and families help each other and don't turn their noses in the air.
You know what? If more families would step up and help each other in times of need, we'd see a lot less reliance on governmental assistance. I'm not talking about people who are just using their family as a crutch and don't make efforts to help themselves. That's different.
Anyway, apparently the article isn't true but I think it has prompted an interesting point about the general tone of that article, as if families helping each other is some kind of negative....it's not at all to me and never was.

I had 2 kids by 19. I had to move in with my parents for about a year when my sons were young. Thank God for my amazing parents. What is so horrible about being with your family? I loved the time I spent having everyone I loved under one roof. It was comforting. well. No way does parenting stop at 18. It actually becomes more complex in a way. There is no shame in being close enough with your family to be willing to be together and help each other thru difficult times.
Jon has been thru a lot on his journey to getting back on track. I don't know how anyone could handle being a national joke due to lies and not crack actually..IF he is living with his mom (or actually if anything it sounds like they are alluding she moved in with him) where is the story in that? Jon said several years ago that he was staying with his mom because she broke her foot. If she
has degenerating bones or weak joints, she might need help. But Jon's at work, so who's there with her? Where is his stepdad? Is he OK?
Also, if his mom needs to be closer to a hospital for regular treatments, it might make sense too.
It's all speculation. I just hope his mom's health is OK.

My first thought was how great that would be for the kids -- to have grandma so close. My great aunt lived with us for years when I was a kid and it was wonderful. I don't understand why our culture frowns on multiple generations living together. It can really work out well.
