Recap: Giving Back, a once in a lifetime opportunity--6/20/11

We're catching up on some lost Recaps. And since we've been discussing how Kate has grifted her way through the past seven years, what a perfect episode to recap: Giving Back.
Coming up on Kate Plus 8! Oh how I love ironies. Kate and the kids are headed to Tennessee to volunteer at a food bank. But then after, (here comes the ironic part) as a reward for her one-time hard work selflessly helping others, Kate gets a colossally awesome freebie: She gets to drive a NASCAR race car around a track. The dream of so many blue-blooded Americans come true for her just like that. You would think she is Aladdin the way her life has turned out. Only, the bottle never runs out of wishes. Where are the kids, you ask? Why, they're on the sidelines watching Mommy get her freebie. Where's their reward?
Kate (i.e. the producers) thought it would be great to give back and feed the hungry, so they went to Johnson City, Tennessee to volunteer at a food bank called Second Harvest. This is so funny, for the amount of money it took to haul Kate, eight kids, Jamie, Steve and a production crew all the way to Tennessee, a thousand people could have had nice full bellies tonight. Maybe no food banks in PA wanted her? They were concerned what with Kate's view on portion control the homeless actually might leave Kate's food bank more hungry than when they went in? In all seriousness though, TLC had partnered with Second Harvest for awhile now, so that's the connection.
On the shuttle bus to Second Harvest, Kate lectures the kids: "When I go to do stuff like this I just try to keep an open mind and see where I can learn and what I can do."
What "stuff" like this has Kate ever done? No seriously, I want to know. We all know Kate is a taker and never a giver, to an embarrassing degree. This is the one time she gives back and it was only because they were trying to give the show a makeover during abysmal ratings. The trips were boring and no one cared, Australia was a ratings failure, and Kate herself even said they wanted to rework the show into a charity show (a plan that apparently fizzled out after this episode couldn't even draw more than a million viewers). "This is only the beginning for us! This is going to be the beginning of the Gosselin Give Back!" Kate told a local journalist in Tennessee. It's been a year, when will that giving back be starting up again? Also, is it really giving back when you're getting paid to film an episode? Did she donate her salary to charity too?
Mady would prefer to help out at some kind of animal charity. "They don't talk as much," she says. I can see why a kid who lives with Kate would appreciate that.
Some sincere Second Harvest worker named Rhonda is very excited that Kate and Co. is coming to help out. It's both sweet and kind of sad how open people are to Kate despite her history of mass exploitation and well, cruelty to her kids--and others. There are a lot of good people out there. Or maybe they just don't know who Kate is and what she is about.
Kate urges the kids to think about the fact that there are people who are hungry and do not have enough to eat. Kate, they don't need to think about it, they live it!

twitter.com/Kateplusmy8

The kids look confused and guilty when Kate says this to them, which I don't like. The way to teach kids to help others is not to guilt them about it. There are better ways to teach them about this other than guilt-trip lectures.
Rhonda shows everyone around. The little kids pile onto the food scale. They weigh 275 pounds total. At 45 pounds average per six-year-old (this was filmed in March 2011), thankfully that sounds pretty healthy. They probably fill up at Jon's.
They tour the warehouse where the dry food is stored. Second Harvest has posted up notes from people they have helped. They are really touching actually. One is about how one family was living in a tent and Second Harvest's food kept them alive. Kate seems touched by these notes, and yet I think she's full of it. If she really cared about the needy, she would tell her fans to stop sending her gifts and give to Second Harvest instead. Until then, this is all an act for ratings. And she's done virtually nothing since this episode to continue giving back. She just keeps taking! If there's anything more selfish than never giving to the needy, it's using the needy in order to try to boost your own ratings and make more money for yourself.
They head to the kids' area to help pack up plastic bags with lunches of donated food. The kids seem to really be having fun. It would be great if their selfish and fake mother would do things like this with them more often. Oh, plastic bag cam! Snazzy, TLC.
Coming up! Kate and the kids scream uncouthly at a hard-working Second Harvest guy named Scott. By the way, this episode is a torturous hour long, so I hope you've buckled your seat belts.
We're back. They go into a huge freezer to see the perishable food. Walk in freezers scare me ever since I saw this old Lifetime movie about a call girl who murders her rich client and puts his body in his socialite wife's walk in freezer. His wife finally finds it at the end of the movie as the call girl chases her through the house trying to kill her too. Remember when schmaltzy lazy Saturday afternoon stuff like that was what made Lifetime so dang good? What happened?

"It was cold," is about the extent of Kate and the kids' description of this freezer part. Rhonda is still excited about Kate. Sweet innocent Rhonda. They box up some cans. Rhonda is doing a fine job explaining to the kids what to do but of course Kate has to interrupt with her loud two cents. Actually, in stingy Kate's case, she would keep her two cents, and even make you give her yours.
Scott, one of the Harvest Bank workers, wondered if it would be crazy and chaotic to work with the kids because he's seen them on T.V., but he's pleasantly surprised that in person the kids aren't at all like the characters they play on T.V.! Isn't it lovely that thanks to your T.V. show a perfect stranger thinks your kids are crazy and chaotic? Talk about setting kids up to fail. Also, Scott was suckered just like a lot of viewers. These are perfectly calm and nice kids, Kate just wants us to think life is crazy and chaotic because that's more dramatic and brings in more ratings. Eight well-behaved quiet little goslings, even if that's how they are in reality, really does not make good reality T.V. Kate and then the kids scream at Scott. "Scott, get over here!" one of the girls demands. Ugh, unbelievable. Kate, who started this whole thing, now says that the kids need to be polite. Like starting a fire and running away, that's Kate for you.
Kate is truly shocked at how much fun they had, which frankly, I find just sad. What wouldn't be fun about this? A big group of happy people, helping others, laughing and joking, and you even get to spend time with your kids. Of course this is fun. There is nothing not fun about this, except maybe that cameras are there to exploit it. "Fun comes in the oddest places sometimes!" Kate exclaims in disbelief. I think maybe she is used to fun being a comped hotel room, a silver-haired stud with an accent, and a bottle of Sake. Yes, fun can indeed be odd.
That afternoon, they go to a school to deliver the lunches they compiled earlier. A well-meaning school principal is also excited about this whole thing and is really encouraging to the kids.
Later, they head to the Salvation Army soup kitchen. The kids are tired and grouchy and some of them push each other as they get off the shuttle bus. This has been a long day and the last thing you want to do is make kids equate charity work with exhaustion and irritability. But alas, there's an episode to make and time to fill. Must keep filming. They tour the kitchen with Major Elliot. Kate confuses everyone by explaining that people come here for dinner who don't have mommies to make it for them. Really? This is a soup kitchen for orphans?

No of course not, Kate, people who cannot afford food in general come here. Orphans and non-orphans alike. There is an industrial size sheet tray of chocolate cake. Mmm. These portion sizes must be so overwhelming for Kate. She must feel like a midget. Sorry, little person. Thanks, LPBW! They help serve the food, but there is a lot more bickering this time. It's just too long of a day at this point. I hate when Kate uses the word "which" to mean "and." Aaden says the needy kids came to the soup kitchen because "they don't have as much food as we do." Is he sure about that?

A reminder, again.
Some kitchen volunteer says the needy kids were really excited to meet the Gosselin kids. That makes them sound like an attraction and a side show, and I don't like that. They are kids too no different than the kids getting served food. It's creepy to suggest otherwise.
Kate awkwardly talks to some of the needy kids, saying awkward things that embarrass them like "you're cute!" It's times like this I do feel a bit sorry for her, because her social skills are so abysmal I don't know how you would begin to fix that but I would start with a wrench and a jackhammer and lots of prayer.
Kate waxes on about how important it is to her for the kids to want to help other people. I'll give her credit, she seems to know what to say that sounds good, but she never does follow through. She is a talker, rarely a doer, and I hate talkers. Also, most successful people are doers not talkers, so it's surprising she's still hanging on here.
Kate does some boring radio spots the next morning to promote the food drive later that day. Um, um, and uhhhhh like, we're donation? is the extent of this part. Plus Kate dropping anvils that she just wishes and hopes she could drive a NASCAR race car someday. I wonder if anyone will make this dream come true for this poor kid with cancer! What's that? Kate is not a kid and doesn't have cancer? Coulda fooled me.
The kids are still cranky. Volunteering is great, but this vacation is turning into a lot of volunteering for such little kids. Truly, if you want a kid to want to ever do this again, better to start them off with a few hours at a time, not one long marathon week of it. It's too bad this experience could be turning them off from volunteer work forever. Leave it to Kate to screw this up. Kate spends an awful lot of time explaining how usually if the kids don't want to do something, she doesn't make them, but this time since it was a once in a lifetime experience she made them. (Why would volunteer work be such a once in a lifetime thing? Food banks are everywhere!) Not sure how I feel about that one. This is a nice opportunity, but the kids are tired too and they've already worked so much the past couple days. I do sense some defensiveness in Kate's tone over making her kids do this when they didn't really want to. She is very defensive of every single one of her questionable choices, which just indicates how wrong she knows she could be, and often is, deep down. Kate says people are going to take pictures of them and it's okay. Um, no it's not okay actually.
"I don't want to," Hannah says as they arrive at the food drive. If you don't want to you can wait in the bus, Kate tells them. Oh for God sake.
This is difficult to watch. There are tons of creepy fans everywhere. Fans approach the kids, take pictures, shake their hands. The kids look frightened to say the least. A couple of them are hiding back behind Kate. Even Kate admits they're not used to this like she is. I don't even want to think about what could happen to Cara and Mady on the cruise and how wrong it is to expose them to fans. I think this is way too much to throw on them at once with but a two-second warning on the bus beforehand. Please abort this. Abort! Kate says the kids are doing fine, the ones that want to do this anyway. No, they are not. Look at their faces! God, what a witch. Hannah isn't wearing an event t-shirt like the others and can be seen in the background sitting down on the floor with Jamie behind the table. Only the Golden Child could get away with that. But I have to say I find it interesting that Hannah, Kate's favorite, is the one who is most freaked out by everything Kate loves about being famous to the point where she won't even participate. But good for her.
They interview some fans who gush about how great it was to meet the kids. Blech. It scares me that several of them appear to have young children of their own. I love Sheeple No. 1, who starts to say that everyone loves Kate, and then cuts herself off and amends it to say well, everyone loves the kids at least. Ha, that was great.
Some young mother actually says it's great for Kate to get out places and show the kids. Jeepers, what are they, prized rose bushes? Sheeple No. 3, you're a charming and pretty Southern young lady but please get yourself some education about this mess! Start with the Evidence of Exploitation and Essential Reading sections of this blog.
Kate bitches a long while about how much easier it is to be famous when those dang kids don't come along and she has to watch them. Sigh, being a star is so tough. Oh, there's Steve behind Kate, looking for snipers and ready to whisk Kate off stage and into her limo in the rain should an emergency arise. It actually is raining, which several sheeple apologize to Kate for as if they can control such a thing, so it's a perfect set-up for a dramatic reenactment. Please do not make me Photoshop this picture, it would be sacrilegious.

Look, we all know Kate much prefers to do her famous thing without the kids if the past six months is any indication. But judging by their reactions here maybe it's for the better.
More gushing sheeple and your creep-o meter will go off the charts here so you've been forewarned. It might remind you of what goes on on Twitter these days, only this is in person. Sheeple No. 4 shows her hospital bracelets and said she's under strict doctor's orders to be on bed rest for a week but came out to see Kate because she's her number one fan. Although she might be in the top five, I honestly don't believe Sheeple No. 4 can really hold a candle to Kate's number one fan, maybe if she drags herself to the food drive gushing blood and puss out of an open flesh wound I'd let her be number one, but I digress. Other sheeple are playing hooky from work and dragging along whipped husbands who look less than thrilled to be at the Superbowl for obsessed sheeple. Back to Sheeple No. 1, who says the kids feel like her family. I hear this all the time and yet it still elicits a big EWW! Sheeple No. 5 appears like a normal enough 20-something, but don't let that cute Southern accent fool you. She reveals her forearm, which bears a tattoo: "Alexis Faith." Oh, God, WHYYYYYY. Also, I've noticed, despite not wanting to notice, that Alexis seems to be one of the more popular kids to be obsessed with. I'm not exactly sure why, but this is weird and creepy and I can't even stand it.
Kate does a boring TV spot we've already seen. The short story from the very long interview (most of which they don't show) is Kate wants Gosselin Giving Back to be a regular thing. Ha, here we are a year later and what exactly happened with that? Maybe "regular" to Kate is once a year? No wonder she couldn't get pregnant on her own. The only good thing about this is the turnout was decent and they collected a lot of food. Children were terribly exploited and made to feel unbelievably uncomfortable, but at least some needy people were helped out. Kate says she feels comfortable in the public eye with public speaking, Umm, uh, honestly, like, you coulda fooled me. Oh my God, Rhonda is still going on about Kate! This woman has been talking for days about this. She is one of those people who fixates on one topic and talks about it for weeks before getting bored and going on to the next topic, but they never can talk about more than one thing at once. Really, Rhonda, give it a rest now and go do some good works.
They go grocery shopping with Rhonda for the needy. These poor kids must just be dead on their feet, this is now just way too much. Kate whips out her checkbook in the middle of the grocery store (could she be anymore awkward?) and writes a check to give to Rhonda for $740 for eight school lunches for the year--was that drawn from the Coogan Fund or Kate's account?
Next up, Kate gets to drive a NASCAR race car while the kids, who also worked so very hard these past few days and deserve something nice too, just kind of are left to wander around and watch. Sigh. This whole part is very boring and the short story is Kate sucks. At driving, at motherhood, and at life in general.
"I have dreams that I'm just driving and like the needle is just pinned. I just want to drive fast," Kate says. Yeah, we know Kate. You've gotten four tickets in two years! You didn't think we'd ever find out, did ya! You are lucky you haven't hurt yourself or much worse, someone else. You suck.
Finally, at long last, after Kate gets to have all her fun and decides she's had her fill, the kids get to take a few spins in the car. They love it. What a bizarre role reversal. Usually moms want to see their kids go first and have all the fun they can possibly take, and then, if there's time, Mommy will try it out a bit. It's opposite land in this family, at least when Kate is on her custodial time.
If everyone gives a little, we can get rid of hunger, Kate opines. Little tear. To donate to Second Harvest, check out their web site.

It doesn't say that in the disclaimer. It might say that in her contract, but not in the disclaimer. It sounds like they give her carte blanche to wiggle out for whatever reason and it is out of their control. They wipe their hands and cannot be responsible. Only a medical reason? What about a death in the family? A sudden illness with one of the kids? Kids do get sick or injured.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Fleecing I agree, there's nothing I see that requires Kate to provide proof of anything. But, like you said, it could be in her contract.

I've read some court cases about celebs breaking contracts. In particular one was a big network that lost one of its main stars when their relative became deathly ill overseas. The production company had a hell of a time trying to wrangle out of that one for letting them leave, the network was ticked. I think the celeb was going to go no matter what the fallout, but there WAS fallout. Those contracts can be iron clad, even deathly ill relatives are no excuse to them. Anyway I say that because a standard celeb contract will be strict if you're playing with the big boys, but this whole operation is so rinky dink I doubt they bothered with any kind of strict contract like that. I bet the contract is more like Hi Kate you show here here mmmkay and if you can't oh well, sign here!

OT, but tonight while watching a rerun of Criminal Minds the following was quoted: children begin by loving their parents, as they grow older they judge them and sometimes they forgive them (Oscar Wilde).

&&&

Wow great quote and so true. Look at abused children. It is rare to find an abused child who doesn't just want to be with their parents. As they grow older and become their own people, they often start making quite different decisions about where they want to be and what they will put up with. That day is coming.

Bah Bah Black Sheep, I'm really not worried about her three rabid sheeple. Let them try to find me. A) it'll be SUPER difficult (I have an extremely common first and last name!) and B) I'm not worried about them even in the slightest.

So sure, try to find me in a metropolitan area of 6.5 million! LOL.

lol, admin. I was going to say the same thing. If the legal part of this business is run anything like what we've seen, Kate should have no problem getting out of it if she doesn't make it to New York in time for a pre-cruise cut and color.

I wouldn't go on that cruise come hell or high water!

You can delete my comment #6 then, admin. doesn't matter to me.

Kate isn't afraid of breaking a contract anyway. She'll just say what are you going to do about it sue me? When they finally do sue her she'll just fight and fight and appeal and appeal until she wears them down emotionally and financially and they finally quit for their own sanity. Kate wins again.

My prediction is based on what happened with Lafair!

DL yours was fine. There was one after it that had too much info. Not sure you saw it.

Teresa, thanks for reposting that. All the kids took was a vitamin! Unbelievable. What Kate was describing is exactly how they said it, she wants a helper not a certified nurse.

By the way, is it true Reading Eagle swiffered their Kate articles? I have a hard time believing this, and if it's true, it's disappointing. I knew someone who worked there for several years, and this paper is regarded as one of the best small town papers in the country. They've had at least a few journalists come through their doors who went on to win Pulitzer Prizes. I'm not sure they've won a PP themselves but they may have, I'd have to Google it. They are able to pull a lot of up and coming talent from the big journalism programs around PA and Maryland. They're part of a prestigious program to find the best up and coming editors called Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. They take themselves very seriously, and I just can't picture them cow-towing to someone like Kate. They would sooner be sued than bend to what she wants.

What's even more shocking than an obsessed fan with Alexis' name tattooed on her, is the fact that TLC somehow thought this should be a part of the episode. It's not funny. It's not cute. Playing cute music in the background doesn't make it funny or cute either. It's CREEPY. The fact that TLC doesn't recognize that this is 100% creepy and nothing else, is mind-blowing. Steve should have politely escorted her out for safety reasons and none of it should have ever been a part of the episode. She is going to have that tattoo 50 years from now, it's downright nutty!

Yes LaFair suit was during the show TLC might have ben paying her way. You're right she might not open up her wallet for lawyers but she still is so arrogant she will think who would ever sue me and if they ever do what judge would ever tell me no? They haven't so far! When Kate won't open up her wallet she'll just represent herself just like she did in that administrative hearing. She probably thinks she can learn everything they teach you in law school with a little browsing on Legalzoom.com.

The scary thing is this woman looked completely sweet and normal. She could show up at the house to drop off a package for UPS and I wouldn't think twice. Then she'd kidnap Alexis.

Wait...I take that back. Didn't it say something different before? I thought the "Gosselin" portion of the cruise was refundable.

You mean to tell me nothing is refundable if Kate decides not to go? And what the hell does "beyond the control of Alice Travel" mean. Obviously anything Kate does is beyond their control.

Wow...talk about vague and misleading. This is something for the Attorney General.

Admin, the two bloggers who held J&Ks feet to the fire for all their Greedy Grifting for Him! were asked to stop by the RE editor after Kate complained. All that honesty was putting a dent in her grift. However, I believe all the exising articles are still found on the RE site. I don't think they removed any, just stopped reporting on it further.

Maybe it's time for Kate Gosselin to hook up with A-Rod Friday, May 22, 2009 at 08:06AM

There was a time when I worked at the Reading Eagle when we were forbidden to blog about the Gosselins.

That was in May 2005, a year after Jon and Kate's six little bundles of joy dropped, and the couple was mooching for cash and diapers and nannies and a 15-passenger van (no 13-passenger ones -- PLEASE!) and blogger Dana Hoffman had the impunity to spew such trash talk as:

Maybe they should stop worrying so much about where the next handout is coming from, and instead concentrate on their healthy, hopefully happy, children, and be tremendously thankful for what they have received and continue to receive.

That sent those manatee-size folds of skin on Kate's tummy into full quiver. She phoned the front office and bawled that Dana was snatching baby formula out of her starving multiples' mouths. Embargo.

(Can you imagine Taylor Swift's father calling the paper five years ago and begging them not to write about daddy's little princess?)

That was a lifetime ago, at least in TV terms. If henpecked Jon isn't screwing around on his harridan wife these days, some TLC scenarist definitely should have written it in. It's one thing to have a reality show where a ball-busting scold -- who "felt very ugly toward the fans" -- and her unemployed mate try to deal with the bracing consequences of gobbling too many fertility drugs. It's quite another where the kids are 5 and off to school, a gourmet chef and personal assistant tend to your every need, you travel the country on TLC's dime, you drive a fancy Nissan Nismo when you're not hauling around the brood in that 15-passenger van, a sign outside your million-dollar home warns "KEEP AWAY," and, certainly not least, you pocket $75,000 per episode. And that's not counting book deals, "motivational speeches," and other perks and personal appearances.

Teresa said...

Admin #16 Yep, but she lost that case, even when she brought all 8 kids to the hearing and pushed out a few tears. She said at the time the Reading Newspaper was taking milk out of the mouths of her babies by publishing her interview statement of not wanting to spend the money she and Jon had from Jon's father. (I think it was about $38k). I don't believe for a second she would win a lawsuit now. Surely there's not a court in the land that would hear her crying poor again.

They may have stopped covering Kate out of respect for her and protection for their other sources. They had an exclusivity deal with Kate. Kate asked them to stop. Out of respect for your source, no matter how much of a bitch they are, a good journalist stops when asked (unless of course there is some kind of earth shattering news that must be reported like Watergate, then screw them).

It doesn't surprise me Red Eagle respected their source. That is in their best interest for future sources to trust them.

That wording is there for Paula Deen, who is also with Alice Travel It's in TEENY TINY print at the end of this page. http://www.alicetravel.com/paula_deen/deen_family_cruise.html

But I can't find that wording for the Osmonds, who are not with Alice. Here are the terms and conditions for Donny and Marie's cruise. They are very long and detailed as they should be and I speed read them, but correct me if I'm wrong, I don't see a single provision in there for Donny and Marie to cancel on everyone and hang everyone out to dry. I see some stuff about changing boats, problems at ports, etc., but nothing about the talent bailing on them if they feel like it.

Teresa, I don't think she would much anymore now but I still think in Kate's delusional mind no still never means no and I bet she thinks she WON when it comes to LaFaire

I do think she's been losing a bit in family law court. I think the constant bemoaning about not being able to film any specials even though TLC specifically said they hoped they would is directly related to Jon refusing to cooperate. I also think she is under strict orders she is not to discuss the circumstances of why they are not filming, which is why she never says anything other than I SO WISH WE COULD FILM SOME. She is very transparent, I know just from how she is handling it that this has EVERYTHING to do with Jon, I just know it.

I think if she could she would take all eight kids on the cruise and just have a nanny watch them because that would bring in more fans. But I think the family court stopped her there too.

I think it's generally assumed even with celebs who are free to cancel, that most of them are extremely committed, which is how they got to where they are in the first place, feel a tremendous obligation to be there for their fans, and would never cancel unless like, they are dead. I think our concern lies in that Kate has none of this same commitment other celebs have.

I have been on a cruise once. I got stuck in the elevator. I have had ten surgeries on my knee but after that, there was no way I would get in it again. I did the stairs after that.

I also said, and to this day say, you have to be drunk to walk straight.lol

Another funny story, while waiting to get off the ship, the purser told us funny questions people ask. One person asked where they get the water for the pool. The answer given was they filter sea water. The person replied "so that's why the water in the pool is wavy". Must have been a sheeple. lol

I bet when the kids thank Kate she hears Joan Crawford's Mommie Dearest voice in her head saying "When I told you to say that I wanted you to mean it!"

And Kate would probably answer back to their second thank you with "You're not welcolme" ala her response on the puppy getting episode.

Also, and I hope this isn't getting into an area admin doesn't like (delete I'd you feel the need) but I find it interesting that it was Alexis and Collin only who needed extra physical therapy, considering what happened with them in the years after.

Did I miss something? I never heard that they had 60K stashed away, although I did hear that they had money left to them by Jon's dad. Did they seriously refuse to spend their own money to support themselves, and take money from others instead? I would think that the state of PA, who paid for all of her medical expenses for having the tups, would have checked out their assets and made them share in the costs. How did they get away with that?
___________________________________________

I had always heard that the tups initial medical bills were covered by the insurance from Kate's nursing job. When she resigned after the birth, they then went on Medicaid.

The thing about the money is supposedly when Jon's father died from a short illness in Jan. 2005, he left them some money. Aunt Jodi's sister Julie described the amount on her blog as "more than I made my first year out of nursing school." $60,000 is the figure most widely tossed around.

When Jon announced his father's passing on the words-do-not-even-begin-to-describe sixgosselins.com begging site, he said a sentence or two about his father then the next two paragraphs reiterated how desperately desperate their financial situation was. The public was asked to please keep the freebies coming (Walmart and Target cards were suggested as particular favorties) This old site content used to be available on an internet archive site called Wayback machine and it was just a hoot to look at! Kate rarely posted but she did take a minute once out of her busy schedule of coffee drinking and putting the babies down for four hour naps to post that their (Reading) house was "bursting at the seams!!!!!!" She prayed that someone would be led to provide them with a no or low cost much larger home. I kid you not, she seriously asked for this.
About 2 1/2 years ago the begging-palooza was removed from Wayback, it was widely thought TLC did this.

Family members who knew about the money they received from Jon's dad were puzzled that J&K were still actively begging and pretending to be destitute. Julie claimed that J&K more or less said why should we spend our money when people are willing to give stuff to us. The family didn't really have a problem with people continuing to give willingly, it was the "digging in the couch for change" act J&K pulled to continue to get those donations.

Here's the link to Julie's site, although Julie removed many of the initial posts. She spoke out in July, 2008 after Kate kicked Jodi and Kevin to the curb. J&K called the posts all lies (of course) but they were on there for years. If they were not true, TLC would have had them removed

While digging around old Gosselin news, I came across this oldie but goodie blog post from a local reporter. It is yet one more piece of proof that Kate was an insufferable bitch years before she ever stood in front of a TLC camera. She is just astounded that she has a hateful reputation and had no clue why!? This is why. This is
how she reacted when a now-defunct small time makeover show helped the locals renovate their house. Jon later went on to complain some more about this on a triplet board he used to post on because the show sent them a 1099. He thought "free should be free."

..."As a member of the media I have been covering this story since almost day one. When I first went to the news conference in Hershey I was so excited for the Gosselins. They seemed liked good people and they had so many people really pulling for them.
However, as time went by they became, how do I say, unlikable. They no longer seemed genuine. They had such a transparent agenda.
I was at the house the day the television crew came to film "Home Delivery" and I was just appalled at things that were said by Kate once the cameras were turned off and she thought her voice couldn't be heard. She complained about the nursery saying the murals would scare her kids and that the twin’s room was "horrendously horrendous"...a phrase I just can't forget. She then went on to say "thanks for nothing..." I couldn't believe my ears and I am not a naive person.
So, my advice to the Gosselins is...endear yourself to people....make them want to like you. You have become so very unappealing and just down right self-righteous. No one wants to help affluent self-righteous people when there are so many good people in dire straits that also need a hand. And, lastly, Kate stop talking....stop giving interviews, stop pleading for help, stop. You are beginning to sound a bit like a nut...a selfish, wish-you-could-change-your-mind kind of mother as well."

As far as the disclaimer goes, I also agree that most celebrities would only cancel if there was a death or serious illness in the immediate family, but with Kate, it really depends on whether or not something better (for her) comes along in August.

We want to visit the war memorial wall and Arlington cemetery as well. I'm trying to find a cheap pkg. for my mom, 76, myself and an 11 yr old. She will need a scooter and I was afraid they wouldn't let her in because of it. The Smithsonian that is. Anyone know? Oh, and how far is Gettysburg from DC. Thanks.

nj, I've been to several Smithsonians (there are quite a few of them, devoted to different things) and to 'the Wall' and adjacent monuments right there in the same area, and they are all accessible. They are required to be, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. You might have trouble at Arlington - not getting in, but things you want to see may be quite far, such as the eternal flame and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. But if her scooter has battery, you should be fine. Don't miss the giant Marine War Memorial commemorating the flag raising at Iwo Jima; it's awe inspiring. Arlington is a ways away, you'll need to find transportation there. I don't know about Gettysburg, but DC proper is wonderful! The Wall/Korean War Memorial/Lincoln Memorial/Washington Monument/Martin Luther King Jr monument are all right next to each other and a stone's throw away from the White House! Taxis used to be done by zones, set price for each zone, but I don't know if that's still true. I hear the bus is great too. If you write to your Congressman and Congress is in session, they can send you tickets to observe too. Even if House/Senate are not in session, you can take a tour of the Capitol. Be sure to go see The Constitution too. Good luck and have a wonderful time; it's a great place to visit and learn! Bonus is that most of it is free! All Smithsonians, Capitol (including tours), monuments, etc., are all free! Just get online and figure out what you want to see and then get on the lists via e-mail for tour times and such. You will have a blast. Wish I was going with you!

***

That's your opinion. I can tell you having spent my career in family law there are a hundred reasons a father might compromise about this and only one of them would be to be the nice guy. If Jon wanted to be the nice guy, he wouldn't have tried so hard to keep his kids off TV and stuck to his guns. He has proven himself to not care about being the nice guy. What one person's sincere belief is a decision that is in their child's best interest is another person's "playing nice guy."

You have to understand, Kate is an obsessed parental alienator. Unless you have known one or tried a case with one I'm not sure if it can truly be understood how vile these people are. Everything is a national crisis to her. Everything. She will fight you like a rabid dog until you go crazy or quit. Fighting her on everything and spending your life in a courtroom will make you nut-so, and is not necessarily the best thing for your kids either.

There are still a few articles about the Gosselins on the Reading Eagle website. The pieces in question that were taken down were not News or even Feature articles for the paper. They were blog entries by a woman named Dana Hoffman who was never, to the best of my understanding, a reporter with the Eagle. She just had a mommy blog on the newspaper’s website. In some of her posts, she took issue with the way the Goselins were handling things in the early years.

I think what happened is that several people at the time of the posts commented in agreement with Hoffman that some of the Gosselin’s actions were inappropriate. These were local people who had first-hand dealings with the family and had every right to express their opinions.

Then what happened is the show became regular on TLC. And it got really popular. And fans of the show started looking up info about the family and discovered these blog entries. These people (from far away places who had never met or seen the family IRL) who liked what they saw were appalled at the ‘mean’ things being said about their heroes.

So then the comments on Hoffman’s blog started to change to things like “Ur just jellus,” “Y U so mean?” and all that crap. Basically you had people who thought Kate was a bitch, because they had met Kate, or otherwise knew her or had a neighbor relay a story about being mistreated, etc, these people made some comments on a blog. Then you had fans of the show, people from California and Florida and Canada (LOL like Paige), people who only knew what they saw on TV, come crashing in because they couldn’t understand why folks were being so mean. These fans thought that people were just reacting to a TV show, which most of them weren’t.

Anyway, I don’t think the Eagle caved to Kate’s demands that the entries be deleted. If that were the case, they would have been taken down almost immediately as Kate surely started complaining about them from day one. Those blog posts stayed up for YEARS, as evidenced by the shift in comments from locals (pre-TLC) to ignorant fans (post-TLC).

-----------------------------------------------------------
The mid-Atlantic region is having a ridiculously mild winter. That's not to say a freak snowstorm is outside the realm of possibility, even in late March. Temps honestly could be anywhere from the high 30s to the low 60s. You'll have a better idea when you look at the forecast shortly before you travel.

It bears mentioning that there is a Cherry Blossom festival every year in DC around March/April. My guess is it's going to be earlier this year. On one hand, it's just beau.tiful to be down there when literally thousands of cherry trees are in full bloom. On the other, rates for accommodations, etc, will be higher and it will be more crowded. Look up the Festival dates this year and plan accordingly.

Also, Gettysburg is in south central PA about 1.5 - 2 hour drive, almost due North, from DC.

Article from the Pittsburg Tribune newspaper:

By Dimitri Vassilaros, TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Sunday, May 15, 2005

PART ONE: Kate and Jonathan Gosselin want you to pretend that their sextuplets are disabled.

If you play along, they can keep the free nurse provided by Medicaid to help raise the six 1-year-olds and the Gosselins' 4-year-old twin daughters in their Berks County home. Mom and Dad will plead their case at a hearing on Thursday.

Does it really take a commonwealth to raise a child? Or eight?

Surely it is a daunting task for Kate even without Jonathan's 90-minute commute to his new job in the Governor's Office in Harrisburg.

"Every morning I ask the Lord for the strength to try to remain calm," Kate said.

As a registered nurse, however, she knew the risks of fertility drugs. Gosselin did not regret the decision after she was told about her six babies. Nor for opposing the "selective reduction" that sometimes is performed in multi-fetal pregnancies to lessen potential risk to the mother and the surviving fetuses.

But if Kate had had a crystal ball, would she have taken the fertility drugs?

"If I could have looked into the future, I would not have done it," she admitted.

The two parents have more kids than they can handle. Volunteers have helped, some, but nowhere near enough, she said. The taxpayers are helping by providing health coverage, but the Gosselins want much more.

They qualify for state health insurance -- barely. Jonathan makes about $50 per month below the maximum annual household income, said Kate. She does not have an outside job.

For a family of 10, the max is $38,910, according to the Department of Public Welfare.

But the need for special services such as a nurse is not based on income. The state's first question was whether the Gosselin children qualify medically. "The answer is 'no,' so you do not get it," Kate said.

The little ones' good health was her bad luck. Go figure.

"I am urging them to see us as a rare situation, which we are," she said. "And I am begging them to make a special exception. They are six individuals. One mom cannot take care of them.

"I might be able to meet their physical needs, but not the emotional needs. It is very difficult. I'm talking about time to talk about feelings, read books and the absolute bare necessities to get done. I cannot do it five days a week." PART TWO TO BE CONT.

Maggie said...

PART TWO: Pittsburg Tribune article 2005

The county assessed the Gosselins' property at $142,800 in 1993. Kate thinks the four-bedroom, 2,100 square foot home has a market value of $250,000. They have two vehicles, but no garage, she added.

Why not take advantage of the approximate $100,000 in home equity Kate says they have in it? Why not sell it and buy a bigger one (she would like about 3,500 square feet) in a less affluent neighborhood?

They had been considering a move, but it has not been a high priority because of eight good reasons, she said.

However, keeping the free nurse is a priority.

"I understand that there is no medical necessity," Kate said. "But I hope they see my need. There is nothing set up for someone in our situation. I hope I can hang on to the person that I have."

The Gosselins called the day after my telephone interview with Kate. They asked to preview this column before publication. My editor declined their request. Kate then said she wanted to retract everything -- even though she admitted all of it was true.

"People are out to make us look bad," she said.

__________________
Again Kate states in the above article that she and Jon had $100,000 equity in their first home when they were asking the state for another year for the state to pay for the nurse.

UNBELIEVABLE! They could have used their house equity to pay for the nurse, van, and all the things that they are BEGGING for on their website. Keep in mind they were on welefare.

Someone really needs to write a book about this entire Gosselin saga. And include every stinkin detail that the great majority of America knows nothing about. And keep in mind, this is a newspaper that had no personal "hatred" toward the Gosselins.

Also I found all the Gosselins articles from ReadingEagle newspaper that they wrote during the first few years of the tups birth.

Wayward, She must have had hundreds of thousands of dollars in free stuff over the years. That house renovation, although free labour must have costs a lot in hardware. What a self-centered entitled bitch she is.

Yep, absolutely a bad seed. There is no hope that she will ever change. She will just get worse at not getting gigs and freebies anymore.

She needs to re-watch that interview she did with Kelly and Anderson Cooper. Instead of looking at herself the whole time, she needs to focus on Kelly and Anderson's faces as they look alternately horrified and disgusted while she mercilessly trashes her kids' father on national TV. If she does that, she MIGHT understand why she'll never appear on that show again (well, also because she's a boring has-been).

If anyone is interested or knows someone who is interested in writing a book about "All That Is Gosselin", I am disabled with no husband or children and would to volunteer my time with any research or any organization needed for such said book. Now that Kate is out of the public eye, I think the media would promote the book.

And I really don't blame Jon for much of anything. Kate wanted the tups and Jon was backed into a corner to grift (with Kate's threats, no doubt) to feed his family in the early days. Even when their tv show started, Kate said on tv that she wanted Jon to quit his job and stay at home. All the church grifting and speaking was Kate's idea. And you know that hiring a media firm also was her idea. I think Jon HAD TO do all his did to support his family that Kate tricked him into having. When Jon finally got hold of his senses, he very bravely went against TLC and Kate to take his kids off of tv. He paid and is paying a huge price. Yes, he made stupid mistakes for a year during their seperation but during that time he still was coming home and being a Dad. He is probably living like a pauper now because of the fallout. Mind out, I believe he loves his kids with all his heart.

I've read the articles before a long time ago but man is it shocking to read them now knowing what we know.

Isn't this just a classic Kate line? No responsibility whatsoever, no ability to see why the other side is upset about what she is asking for. They just want to GET HER and make her look bad. And isn't that a narcissist thing? Nobody cares about making you look bad, Kate, it's NOT ABOUT YOU! No, people were out to protect THEIR tax dollars they work hard at mediocre jobs to pay, Kate.

As a minister, why hasn't Kate's father felt the need for the truth to be told about his daughter? That she is fleecing people when in truth she has millions socked away. How can he give sermons to others, when his daughter's behavior is so deceitful and he is doing nothing to try and correct it.
------------------
Please don't blame the ministers for the God given free will of others. Their job is to preach the gospel and take care of the sheep. It's God's job to do the saving of the soul, if that soul wants to be saved. Clearly Kate has chosen her God at this present time, money. And no one can change her mind but her.

I know...no offense to anyone but when the topic of food or what she's feeding her kids comes up, I lose all interest. I know she has very little going on right now and that"s a good thing. I just can't "go there" with some of these boring details of Kates life. You know ....what the kids eat, what clothes they wear, her menu Mondays, her coffee pots, etc...because frankly, I don't give a damn....although if it weren't for those things..there would be nothing to say. She's sliding into a black hole.. slowly but surely..

Kate is ungrateful and delusional. Not quite the "stah" she was once predicted to be by Barbara Walters, would you say? She and Jon were fooling people. That we know for fact. It's just sad that they didn't count their blessings. Hundreds of multiples need a life time of physical therapy. They just never knew how lucky they were and still are. Karma can be rough.

Jumping In said...

I was wondering when Kate was going to remind her twitter followers about her appearance on Dr. Drew today, so that is off her 'to do' list.

Although it it just an expression, Kate tells her fans to watch Dr. Drew because they will see 'someone they know'. No-one knows Kate, not her family, her children, nor the handful of so-called friends she claims to have. She is an entity unto herself, still living in some reality tv bubble she will not abandon. Today, once again, she will watch, fill herself up with the story of Kate; lost show, lost crew, lost free trips. This may very well be her swan song though, it is getting so old, so predictable, we could collectively write it here!

Watching Dr. Drew's standard expression (head tilt, pursed lips, fake-concerned look), all while lobbing softball questions is so dumbed-down it is insulting. However, this will be a combination of shallow vs. shallow, billed as another must-see 'reality' tv moment. Will I watch?, you bet, this will be a lesson in predictability,
psychology, and a train wreck all wrapped in to one show. Better still, it just may be the last time she gets to share her story.

Ironically, I did not watch her show, but became fascinated with her persona on Dancing With The Stars. I will never quite get passed seeing her display her all-consuming belief that she was so important, she had to do a dance number about the paparazzi. I can still see the fierce look of anger on her face as she clomped her way down the stairs waving gossip rags. Honestly, I thought I would pee my pants at the very idea of her own self-importance on display that night, well every night, different costume.

Today's predictions anyone? Mine is that we will see Kate in her sparkly dress bemoaning the loss of her show (nothing new there). What will make me crazy though is that Dr. Drew will buy in, (queue sympathetic look), and Kate will have had another opportunity to shill for a show. Stay tuned.

Here's someone Kate could take a lesson from. This lady had been out of town for her father's funeral. While they were gone their house was broken into and most everything they owned was stolen. When she wrote of it on her blog, of course people were offering assistance. Here's part of her response. The bolding is hers.

Also: Several people have offered to or suggested a collection or a wish list or something. I really appreciate the sentiment but I have to say no to that. ... There are people that are in really dire straits, who really need help. I would feel terrible if I received monetary assistance for my relatively trivial losses. Again, I thank you so much for the sentiment. It is really helping me to cope. ^_^

If he were my father and not actually my minister, yes. Families do have some obligation to protect others from their wayward members. They can't change that behavior, but at least they can warn people. Her brother tried to do so, and the rest of the family did nothing to back him up at all.

Thanks for posting that article, Maggie.

Not to get too much into the religious aspect of things but it disgusts me that so many ministers throughout history have ignored atrocities. From the Civil War to the Holocaust to Civil Rights so many didn't get involved claiming the church was neutral. Some did, but not most. They don't have an obligation to hold your hand and just be your friend. As a man or woman of God they have an obligation to do something when bad things happen.

But I don't see how we can say much about this situation because we have no clue what Kate's dad said to her or what he tried. We know next to nothing about him so how can we say what did or didn't happen. But he IS estranged so he must have done something to piss off Kate.

Hmmmm. Think about that.

Maggie, the problem with writing a book about the whole fiasco is that it will ultimately prove to be extremely harmful to the children. Some argue that because their parents put them out there, their story is fair game. I disagree. The kids just need to get back to some sort of normal life.

How do you know that he hasn't? Some people just can't be "corrected."

Why would he open up a can of worms by exposing her deceit? He doesn't need that backlash. It would just give her a platform to retaliate, one more chance to let the tears flow, crying "poor me, even my father doesn't understand me." Much better for him to take the high road.

Everyone who has tried to help and correct Kate has ended up in the dust bin. Everyone. Only people who ENABLE her stick around. Steve enables, he's around. He's the only one left except a few people who latch on for a few months who don't really know her that well. Jamie and Ashley were allowed to stick around because they enabled for a long time until they had had enough of being treated like dirt and sure enough the moment that happened, banished. I don't see why her parents would be any different than all the other people who were estranged.

Maybe in addition to Kate's grifting list we need a list of people she estranged.

I agree. All the info is on the internet anyway. I've tried to organize it in a bit more workable fashion in the side bar. It would be nice it were nice and organized, but i agree, a book would be harmful.

Ugh, Dr. Drew gives me the creeps. He seems to be consumed with "celebrity" rather than being a doctor. He himself has admitted that he took his own Narcissism test and scored very high. I think his whole "Celebrity Rehab" and these other shows are just to promote himself rather than actually helping others.
The clip that is making the rounds from his Lifechangers show with Kate on it is just as sickening. There he is with his pandering fake sympathetic face on, holding her hand and letting her cry on national TV (again!) for something that she brought upon herself. Why do these interviewers keep harping on her about "finding a man" - she had a one that catered to her every whim and she kicked him to the curb because he didn't want to play the celebrity game anymore.
Besides - why does anyone care if she is married or dating or whatever? I haven't seen anyone ask the kids what it feels like to no longer have their dad in the house (not that I think the kids should be put on the spot like that). Once again, it's all about Kate. She honestly lives in an alternate reality.
I think it's comical that she is always trying to claim that she is such a strong woman and can handle it all - but then breaks down on TV. Embarrassing.

helpers Sue, Beverly (although she moved), Beth & Bob, their teens, and daughter best friend Talia, Kate's family, incl. brother Kevin who helped paint the twins' room , Jon's family, Jenny the nanny, Kate's Asian hair dresser, the E-town neighborhood, probably most people K did business with, and so many fans....still thinking!

I suppose everyone is right. But, it just seems that if families would take some sort of responsibility for their members, things like Josh Powell killing his wife and sons might be prevented. Probably not though, as what will be will be. Some things just can not be fixed or prevented.

Kate is proof that family and friends can only do so much when someone is severely mentally ill and hellbent on a certain agenda. Kate is an adult, the mother of those children, and will make her own choices. You can't make her. Even the law can't make her--her four speeding tickets, the suit with LaFair, gag orders in family law court she daily disregards. Jodi and Kevin testified at a congressional hearing for gosh sakes. If that didn't wake her up, nothing will.

Kat#59, multiples at home..wow, enjoy them while you can. Gosh, I remember those days, first it was getting through minute to minute, then hr to hr, then wk to wk..hope everything is well with you and yours.
I am probably older than most here that post, so I have more time for reflection, for sorting out the cares of the day-to-day mommy duties and seeing the bigger picture.
Sometimes it takes wisdom, age and losing someone very dear to you to make you realize what's important in life; life is fleeting,it can be snatched in an instant, enjoy your family, every SECOND that you have with them. As they grow and leave the nest they take your heart with them, but give it back to you by daily phone calls and constant texting..those of you that have your kids still at home, rejoice! I know the stress and perils of ear aches, colic, no sleep, but when you look back at it later like I am now, it was, and is, the best time of your life.
I feel so sorry for Kate, because she will never realize this gift.
I know this is off topic and overly emotional, but when people say the kids will grow up overnight and be gone, they are NOT kidding. It goes by so fast.

I wrote that a Gosselin book should be written in the heat of the moment of re-reading the article about the Gosselin's "secret" $100,000 while begging everyone for everything. I think the vast, vast of America know nothing about this.

But I agree a book should not be written because it would put the Gosselins back in the spotlight. Heck, they are just now fading into black. That is what we want. However if a book was ever written it should be pure fact based upon Kate's own words and actions she displayed or wrote about previously. It would just put ALL the many past years (8 yrs.) of her lies, greed and deceit in one form (a book) and have that much more of an impact. Again, I don't think it would hurt the kids because all of the info in the book would have already been available to them in other forms (their tv show, blogs, interviews, articles, twitter, etc.)

But again, I agree a book would not be wise. It would give Kate a golden opportunity to be back in the spotlight so she could refute it.

You basically said what I meant. Question him as a father why, not as a minister.

Admin., I'm not arguing religion and I agree with you about ministers standing against atrocities. I just don't think it is proper that a minister should take part in divulging others private information, with the exception of physical or sexual abuse.

Minister or laity, it opens a can of worms that gets out of hand. A persons sins will find them out, just as Kate's has let the world know her deeds. She is reaping what she has sowed. Sadly there is collateral damage and only our prayers can help those kids now, until they are old enough to seek help themselves.

I'm not saying "protesting" can't help. I'm saying we do what we can do and after that it's in Gods hands. Who or what ever you believe God to be.

I'm going to stop there or I am afraid it will get into a religious debate, and that is not my goal. Like most said, we don't know what happened behind the scene.

Maggie, I think a book is a great idea only if Kate somehow manages to get back on tv on a regular basis. Or as part of a book on reality show child exploitation as a whole.

Too bad no one in a position to not be ignored didn't do an expose back in the show's heyday. Ignoring it made too many people too much money.

Aggiemom, that's one thing that has always made me shake my head about Kate (well, one of many): she's not bonded to any of those kids and she's missed SO MUCH. I had one kid, so maybe I felt a stronger sense of urgency about this. I mean, with one kid you get ONE first for everything. That's it. If you miss it, there's no other kid to experience it with. When she was spending all that time away from them during DWTS, I remember thinking I just could NOT be away from my kids that much, all the way across the country. And then even when she wasn't out in LA, she was taking off for NY before she could even say hello and goodbye to her kids! That's when I first realized her goal is to be away from her kids, and she has said so now on Twitter (she wants to be a "travel mom").

You just can't get those young years back. They're so precious and fleeting.

The Park City Utah ski trip after the separation where Cara missed mom. The abc gum Jon shared with Cara when she was crying. eww heehee chuckle. Just kidding about the gum. Had to throw it in for laugh.

Hey, off subject, I found out that if you send to publish your post and it looks like you loose it, hit the back arrow on your browser and your post will still be there in the comment box. It just happened to me twice. Just a FYI.

more-

-Jon's gym & trainer "Fuzzy Bunny" aka Karen who seemed really nice
-gymnastic outfits for kids(store was shown)
-Red Robin for Mady's lunch on her day
-bikes from Ellen
-Little Tikes & Fisher Price toys
-fake Christmas gifts like biblical action figures, dress-up clothes
-Olive Garden (cups shown)
-McDonalds meals(lol) in Utah that Jon bought for the kids /

Confusing- did they pay for anything while filming??

~~I totally agree with those of you with older kids- mine are both in college ( commuting, luckily for me and my wallet) I miss SO much about childhood days but luckily have happy memories and am enjoying having them around. It's not/never was a picnic but I wouldn't change a thing :) <3

Thanks Aggiemom...I do have 3 year old twins...but had them very late in life...so I'm not that young. Was a shock to all of us...It is hard to enjoy them when your going day to day. You don't even realize that time is just slipping away. You just hope you can make it through the day without pulling your hair out. I don't have nannys, cooks, or free gifts thrown at me. That's why this jerk pisses me off so much. I don't know how she can leave those kids for days at a time. I don't understand her line of thinking. She has no heart...

WOW, I am behind in reading all of the posts here, but got through some of the old articles from the Reading Eagle and Pittsburgh papers that were listed above. I knew about some of this, but really, she is unbelievable and her "fans" should read these articles and blogs. How can they still be fooled by her.

Anyway, my question is: Why, with all of the "financial difficulties" did they send Mady and Cara to a private school? Are the public schools that bad in the area....I doubt it. Why not save money on school fees? Did TLC indeed pay their tuition? For that matter did TLC pay tuition for all 8 of them?

Someone suggested on the last thread that the school may give them a "free pass" next year on tuition. I highly doubt it. If it is a prominent school that people want to attend, they probably have a waiting list. Why turn down paying students for 8 non paying students.

Sorry if all this was mentioned above, I haven't gone through all the posts yet.

Many thanks to the Administrator and to all those who have posted press reports from the "old" days. I was not familiar with the family during that period and am still catching up. What an eye-opener this past couple of hours has been reading of K8's statements when the 'tups were still babies. Not much change there then. I will not be "watching" at 3:00 PM EST, but will be reading the comments from those who are.

Awesome Job Kates Kart!

Your fingers must be cramping with Kate's grift list and I am sure there is a lot we're missing and more grifting still to come.

Very sad and pathetic.

I second that. My god when you see it in black and white it's just incredible what she's grifted over the years. Blows your mind. I'd like to know the monetary value of all that.

I may have missed this in those overwhelming lists, but JUICY JUICE!
and the endless supply of paper plates.

I also remember reading that JK&8 was the number 1 show for product placement. Sorry, can't remember the source.

I think Kate was joking about running to NY after she dropped the kids off to go to "Kelly Live" Show. Kate was not invited to go. And she spelled Ripa wrong.

Only 10 comments?? That's great. Wish it would stay that way. Would show how irrelevant she's becoming.

Kat, congrats on your double blessing! 3 yrs now, get ready for some fun :)
DL, I agree with you concerning Kate's lack of nurturing and bonding. It's my opinion, (never met her, seen her, don't plan to) is that she has some sort of detachment disorder. Gosh, I remember when my kids were little, I couldn't wait to go in their room and see those little faces, and giving them a bath and kissing those little toes just about melted my heart.
As precious as those younger years are, the teenage yrs are precious as well. I am telling you, seeing those cars loaded up with their college stuff makes me sob in the driveway..everytime! But, as one mom said, they are doing what we raised them to do....be independent. Sure is hard to see those tail lights fade though...
I can remember when I was pregnant with my second child, I was terrified of how in the world could I love another child as much as the first..you do though, your heart just grows..
Guess I am having an emotional day, forgive me
my ramblings.

On a lighter note, I leave you with my personal philosophy concerning money and raising kids:

"You will spend ALL your money on your kid one way or another...either through athletics, music, academics....Or, getting them out of jail."
:)
blessings to all.

Wonder if she's going this year?

Hey Jude, hope you're ok and hope you update us soon.

Has anyone sent that list to Dr. Drew? Will it be in a place on the sidebar here where it can be easily accessed so that when Kate grifts, it can be sent to the potential donor? I honestly don't think anyone is aware of the magnitude of this.

Not sure if this is a freebie repeat, but the tents & camping equipment TWICE. As far as out of pocket expenses - we can add one white plastic chair surgically attached to her arse and a case of sticky note paper for all the instructions. Perhaps the pen.

Can anyone tell me the name of the Austin's ep? Either a name or youtube link would help. I haven't watched all of the eps, just "worst of" moments on youtube. Someone mentioned how Grifty seemed to delay giving the food to hungry kids and waiting for someone to say something so they can be banished.

What a twit.

I refused to watch Dr. Drew today....same old recycled crap...she looks like such a fool in that tin foil dress. On one hand, I would love to see an Oprah style interview just like with the "A Million Little Pieces" author. No more lies, call her out on the exploitation of the kids, the constant leaving for marathons, AU zoo, etc... (how does that benefit the kids!)..and just really rake her over the coals. buuut.... I don't want that idiot to get one more second of press time.

Other than the Dr. Drew interview, does anyone think Grifty will be on tv again this year? I think the media knows that she is ratings poision, and there is no need for her to go - she's not promotings anything except for the "cruise" which I just can't see happening...

IMO.....Kate's days in the spoightlight are fading fast....thank you Jesus!!!!
