Kate's fans... I have no doubt Jon (and maybe his lawyers also?) have been keeping an eye on Kate's twitter account and are very aware of what's been going on there. The risks she takes with divulging very personal, and potentially dangerous information, etc. I imagine it would be very easy for him to recognize the more rabid fans who will undoubtedly take their venom over to his Twitter account to bash him as viciously as their Queen has all this time. He doesn't seem to be a stupid guy...he can engage them if he wants to, but I predict he'll make liberal use of his "Block" button.

AuntieAnn, I agree.

Does anyone else think that something went down (other than Kate and Steve - snark!) in MD the other day. Something with TLC. It's odd that she came back late and twattered frantically, begging for attention. I remember thinking that she sounded desperate. And then the following day, or the day after, there was a tweet about turning her frown upside down, blah blah. And within a day, Jon's on Twitter speaking out and reaching out to his former pr team. Makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Karen, maybe it finally hit her it's officially over. No more TLC footing the bill, not even anymore specials.

Tala - From wikipedia:

The Learning Channel: “a place for learning minds”

The channel was founded in 1972 and was originally dedicated to be an informative/instructional network focused on providing real education through the medium of TV.

~snip~

In early March 2008, TLC launched a slightly refreshed look and promotional campaign, alongside a new slogan: "Life surprises". This new slogan came as TLC began to shift even more to personal stories, with a shift away from the once-dominating home improvement shows.

That's when it turned into a cesspool thanks to the queen of exploitation Eileen O'Neill. I'm pretty sure she doesen't have a conscience either.

TLC is a modern day circus sideshow freak show, period. It's the same thing that happened at circuses and other shows back in the day: They've got the 900 pound man, the lady with no arms and legs, the midgets, the Dionne quintuplets, the preacher selling his snake oil, the ferrel children.

If Circus freak shows came back there would be outrage. But because we can watch it on our TVs in the privacy of our homes, TLC seems to think this is fine.

I'm glad to have found so many like-minded people out there who have said it doesn't matter if I go to the circus or watch it in my home, this is NOT OKAY. It gives me hope we've progressed somewhat as a society.

What was Kate doing in MD?

I agree something might have 'gone down' re:TLC and that article was weird about Whole Foods, all that...Kate has been RTing compliments and talking about her books, children, herself...putting them all in a positive limelight, Mady ACTING in a play...seeking something in entertainment or at least cookbook ( chef's board) depts?

OT: she also thought is was SOO cute Alexis asked if Shoka got nailpolish at his sap day. well, yes, they do offer that service...here it's 5 dollars per claw, OY!

I like Alexis fine, but the things her kids say are not 'amazing.' They're kids like any other if she could see that.

Wow! I'm off line for a few days and come back to over 1000 posts here and on the previous thread. And the Sheeple think this blog has become irrelevant?

I agree with Canuck and Admin. I see absolutely nothing wrong with Jon putting himself out there and trying for jobs in the public eye as long as he keeps the kids out of it and doesn't trash Kate. I know, she deserves to be trashed, but for the sake of the kids, he should stay silent in that respect. Kate bled Jon dry and has continued to bash him for several years because he has nothing left to give. If going back into the public eye enables him to heal financially and helps him to provide a better life for his kids, I say go for it. As Admin pointed out, it would be the ultimate hypocrisy to enjoy and even support other parents in the entertainment business but deny him that opportunity. If that is the path he chooses to take, then I hope he's successful. He may not have Kate's (imaginary) "gift of gab", but he's a lot more intelligent and articulate than many people give him credit for. He's also a lot more honest than his ex-wife.

I wouldn't go that far. There are enough people who watch TLC to make the network hundreds of millions of dollars. :(

Tweet, obviously not everyone has a problem with TLC. But many people seem to take issue with it--you people. My point being I'm not the only one who sees a problem here, which is a relief.

This is Allison J. And seems like the only way I can post today is under the hated anonymous. I have been very busy lately moving so I've missed out on a lot that has been going on, so please forgive me if I am asking something that has already been covered. Has Jon come out talking about finally talking and defending himself? I just don't have the time to read all the comments but I do want to know if something is popping with Jon.

Thanks guys,
Allison

I still need to recap 8 Movie Makers and Treehouse & Chicks but my DVR erased the episodes (apparently keep forever doesn't apply to Kate Plus 8, the DVR wanted her GONE!) and I haven't had any luck finding the full episodes on youtube. If anyone can sleuth out the full episodes on youtube or elsewhere and help me out that would be great. Email me!

Allison, in a nutshell, Jon's twitter is now public. He has said he won't be discussing the kids, not rehashing the past and he's in a good place moving forward.
Some of his tweets sounded a bit snippy is all.
Oh and he used the word shit once. :)

Admin, until the reality shows disappear (because people refuse to watch them) I'm afraid I'll stay pessimistic. When Fear Factor can film a show of people drinking donkey seamen and people watch it I think we have a very long way to go.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Tweet i think you're misunderstanding what I'm trying to say.

I'm saying you're right, we've gone from Depression era circus freak shows to circus freak shows on our TVs, and it appears to be here to say.

What I'm also saying, is that SOME people, not all, think this is wrong. Many others do not think it's wrong at all, which is why we're all here! But at least more than just a few people think this is wrong. Look at all the comments on this blog. It's not like there is one lone crazy person shouting about how wrong this is! There are many.

I'm glad Kate has friends to attend the play with. I hope Ashley's family and Steve enjoy the performance.

So the Shrew narcissist is now getting praise from her dead grandpa? I have never experienced anyone with such a ME-complex before in my life. What a pathetic freak. It's really always the first word that comes to mind on 98% of the stories related to kHate - "freak."

If she wasn't such a complete a turn off to all of the senses it would almost be fascinating to watch and study.

i hadn't thought about the coincidence(?) of Kate being spotted in MD where TLC offices are, and her sudden 'chirpy', 'be positive', 'don't be negative' posts combined with Jon's un-muzzled Twitter account?? Admin, if the Gosselins were (as many speculated) subject to some sort of contract or agreement with TLC, would they be required to appear at the corp offices of TLC to sign off, or something? Would that be usual? Does seem to be a week of coincidental head-scratchers now that I think about it?

May he rest in peace, but her grandfather sounds like an enabler. You're doing a good job Kate......Enabler!!!

Have you noticed the only family members she talks about that just loved her and she loves are dead?

Personally I hope Jon can continue staying strong....nothing about the kids, the past, or Kate. And I really hope he just ignores the unpleasant comments on twitter.

He had started to turn around his reputation....don't blow it now.

Good point, Admin.
Seven years ago, Kate's grandfather may have been able to say "you're doing a good job, honey". The tups were barely a year old and the lure of fame and fortune hadn't as yet started the family on its downward spiral. If he'd had an opportunity to witness his granddaughter's behaviour since then, he might not be as supportive.

====
Circuses made millions back in the day too with freak shows bringing in a good part of that income. I agree there's obviously a morbid fascination with some of the shows on reality tv but making millions doesn't justify adults using children to make those dollars and ruining the lives of innocent children while doing it.

I just think The Learning Channel should drop the word Learning. There is zero quality in their programs now.

Maybe Kate was in the Rockville area to sign off on final TLC paperwork now that the contract has officially expired. Or, she was staying with Steve at his condo (he and Gina are supposedly separated).

I'm not holding Jon's feet to the fire. I WAS just taking him at his word. When he stated BEFORE this newer statement that that would be his last. I'm sure you remember. He's wishy washy at best.

Canuck, I agree with most of what you said except I don't think he should write a book if it would hurt the kids or trash their mom. If he can do it without doing that, by all means.

We all know Kate has done bad things with her fame. But there are plenty of people that are able to do very GOOD things with fame. If you take enjoyment from seeing anyone on TV or in the movies or listening to music, then it's hypocritical to ask Jon not to explore the same kind of entertainment career as long as the kids are left out of it. It is some logic to expect someone to not be in the public eye when thousands of other people with kids do it every day and no one here has complained. Jon isn't any different.

*****************************

If Jon wants to pursue a public career that is his prerogative. What is just plain silly is for you and others to claim that he wants to be a private citizen when he's giving interviews and meeting up with talent agents. His actions speak for themselves.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think we're all just speculating what he MAY do based just on having a public twitter account, which by the way was public BEFORE and only when private last year.

He's having at best an informal lunch with a friend who happens to be in PR he indicated he's known awhile. I'm allowed to have lunch with a doctor and it doesn't mean I'm sick. I'm allowed to have lunch with a lawyer and it doesn't mean I have a legal problem. I'm even allowed to have lunch with an architect and it doesn't mean I'm looking to redesign my house. You can make lots of friends in the business. I think he's realizing he will always be a public figure and might as well make what is public in his control.

What more do we know of Jon now that he is "public"? That's right, nothing. And we certainly know nothing more of the kids. That all came from Kate.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

By the way, He's Choosing, it would have been a tad easier for Jon to stay private if someone hasn't made it her life's work to trash him publicly. It's about the most disrespectful thing you can do to put someone's name in the media who has specifically asked to stay out of it. Only just the other day on Dr. Drew she said he's trying to be a good dad. Maybe you missed it. I just can't blame the guy for wanting a voice, enough is enough.

things change said...

Comparisons to us and how WE love to stay private (which, I do) are apples and oranges and beyond. I assume most of us do not have someone like Kate constantly inserting our names in the court of public opinion day after day for three years.

************************************

How would you know this? You have no idea what people have gone through, are going through or have been through. Don't judge.

Also surprising that some of the most rabid sheeple are tweeting support of Jon--I don't trust it, who knows.
***************************************

Thought you didn't follow that crazy twitter business. However, now that we know you do, is twitter fair game on here?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

&&&

I don't think anyone here can honestly say that they have had a reality show for five years, got divorced, and then had their name trashed constantly in the media for two years. What I'm saying is this guy has been through something no one else has. That is exactly my point, don't judge!

I only follow twitter to the extent it's posted here. I said I don't want FIGHTS between sheeple and haters posted here. Everything else is fair game. No need for the antagonism.

You're conveniently leaving the recent tabloid interview out of the equation. If it were Kate who had given more than one interview after announcing her "final interview" you would be railing about the lying and hypocrisy. Because it's Jon, instead you choose to rationalize.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I'm not conveniently leaving out anything. Jon did an interview saying essentially nothing. If Kate did an interview saying that she is working on herself and everything is going well, what more could we say? Would it be better he didn't say anything at all? OF COURSE. Do I know what it feels like to be the victim of a vicious obsessed parental alienator? NOPE. Move on.
