Hey, Kate Gosselin looks just like Mrs. Wiggins

Breaking News: Kate's doppelgänger has been located.

Cardiogirl.net

And it's that hysterical, and rather cotton-brained secretary Mrs. Wiggins from The Carol Burnett Show. (Just because we feel like being completely silly this long weekend. Happy MLK Day.)

PJ's Momma: kd Lang does a cover of Steve Miller's "Space Cowboy" that's amazing. I've always hated that song (sorry, Steve!) but she turns it into something totally different. Can't remember the record . . . something to to with smoking???

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It's not like KD Lang was picking on the button factory down the road just to pick on someone. There have been countless studies and research about the health problems with meat not to mention questionable industry practices. People who buy into that feel very strongly about it, just as much as ranchers feel strongly the other way.

Admin, your dog's reaction to her sweaters are the same as my dachsund's! He came from AZ to WA and has been shivering ever since. He has a collection of Freddie Krueger sweaters, he really tears them up. He's lost a few too, as he curls his legs in to lounge, they get stuck inside, he panics and pushes them out the collar. When he's done it outside, I've seen him running around with his sweater around his waist like a skirt and he ditches it. But he does love his sweaters. Have you tried Thunder Shirt? Another great product. PJ sleeps under a bunch of baby fleece blankets. Certain things ARE a necessity for some dogs, and I ain't talking automatic ball throwers either.

I too don't get why a region would turn against someone for not eating meat. I don't eat meat but my family are huge consumers - we used to butcher our own animals or hunted animals. They're amused by my choice, but they definitely don't shun me for it. I eat a lot of green bean casseroles at their houses because they think that's all they can make with no meat. HA!

I got to thinking today when I went to set up retirement fund for myself...I would be interest since all Kate has yammered on about is college funds for her kids, if they are complete or not whatever, and with Kate unemployed or "blogging" I sure hope she's got something planned for say when she's 65 or such. This economy right now, the cruise costing regular people so much money. Just I'm not sure I understand if she's so desperately worried about money I hope she's got some stashed away in a fund.

Just seems like after purchasing vehciles, gymnastics is too expensive and all this other stuff yet she spends money like it's water. I'm having a hard time figuring out how she is playing both cards of "I have money, or I'm broke, I can't pay bills but I can afford costly Sushi. I can't put my kids in gymnastics but I can afford one or two vehicles at half price."

Makes me crazy how people cannot see through this double card she plays.

The documentary Forks over Knives suggests that the reason that we don't hear more about how dangerous meat eating is as well as cruel butchering practices, despite countless studies about it, is because the cattle lobby is so powerful with so many connections to people in power that those studies are pushed back to page six or not printed at all.

Well said, Admin! Just because one has grown up around somehting, doesn't mean they have to support its use or consumption. I grew up close to a Corn Sweeteners factory, which made--you guessed it--high-fructose corn syrup. I choose not to feed it to my family, and I don't feel bad about that at all.

By the way to the veggie lovers....I tried to go vegetarian a couple months back. And failed, miserably. :( I missed chicken, fish and turkey so much. And sushi. Sigh, sushi. And I was hungry, even though I was eating a ton. I have heard you WILL feel quite light and hungry and you have to power through it, it doesn't mean you aren't getting all the food you need---but I didn't have the will power.

But I'm trying to do it three times a week now, meat free that is.

Layla, I was a Duran Duran girl too AND JT was my favorite! Have you heard Simon LeBon sing recently - not so great.

Now, all this bullcrap about Shoka is making me mad. Shoka eats 15 pounds of kibble a week, plus 4 or 5 cans? Gimme a freaking break. My dog only weighs 55 pounds (I would guess Shoka is about twice her size) and a 16.5 pound (7.5 kg) bag of food lasts us a month. Even if I fed my dog double/triple/quadruple what she gets now I couldn't even come close to almost a bag a week!!
I know a lot about dogs, I work at a doggy daycare/training center. We have dogs there that we feel sorry for - you know they look forward to daycare just to get away from their owners. Shoka would be one of those dogs.
she says to save your money on any extras - like the automatic ball thrower that costs over a $100?!
Every single thing that comes out of her mouth is a lie. every single thing.

My sibs and I had no imagination when it came to naming pets. We had a litany of literal names -- Brownie, Lassie, Yellow One, etc. But the winner was Old-Gray-Mother-Cat. Had to say that one fast..like just one word. Our parents may have laughed, but they never took over the task of selecting names for our many pets.

I named my hedgehog Fluffy. It started out as a joke but one too many people said "You cant name a hedgehog Fluffy! You should name it Spike or Pokey." I said screw them my hedgehog will be name Fluffy. I still call her Fluffy to this day.

Admin, I did quit cold turkey (pun!), but didn't eat that much meat anyway. I do eat a little fish about once a week though. Sushi rules! It's hard because you do need protein and I love to load up on carbs. I make a little omelet sandwich - plain egg with some cheese and salsa on top, folded into a small tortilla, to power me through. I don't ever miss meat but that's just how I'm built I guess. I read about the blood type diet and mine is vegetarian. It's not for everyone. I have no problem with anyone eating meat of any kind, though it was an expose on cruel meat processing that got me off meat for good. People like meat. People eat meat (and lots of it, all over the world). Yay for them! I even make it for my husband, no big deal.

What cracked me up about the Shoka post was Kate patting herself on the back for figuring out how to take care of the dog, and she goes on to mention how her kids do EVERYTHIING. Don't get me wrong, kids should pitch in but I just found it funny how Kate masterminds and everyone else actually does.

Marie said...

I owned a German Shepherd growing up, one we rescued and I don't ever remember going through that much food.

When I first read Kate's tweet that Shoka is getting too expensive I felt my heart drop, oh here we go, she's going to get rid of him? Part of me wants to her because it's just something else for Kate to complain about taking care of and part of me wants the dog to stay because dogs become family whether you admit it or not.

But is Kate ready to handle the health problems these dogs sometimes get? Our dog's hips went as she got older she couldn't go up or down stairs on our back deck and it pained me to see her struggle. As she got older she in ways I feel because of pain became more aggressive, especially to something smaller than herself. I don't know if aggression in older German Shepherds is common because I only had one but Kate's going to have kids around.

Our dog lasted well over the expected years and I wonder if Kate would even be capable of taking care of an elderly animal? All dogs, big or small need care. Even a small dog as they age can be a bit. Our Sheltie had multiple small strokes and someone has to be there to help and watch elderly dogs some of the time and I will never see Kate fitting that picture without complaining about having to do it.

I haven't heard Simon sing in a long time. I still remember when they did LiveAid and he couldn't hit the high note on one song (View to a Kill, I think). Beginning of trouble for his voice, perhaps?
JT was at his cutest on the "Reflex" video, and when he was in The Power Station, don't you think? I remember when MTV was still new and actually had music videos, and I'd have it on in the background just in case a DD or PS song came on, so I could run in and watch him. Ahhh, memories.

bearswife, if she's feeding Shoka crap food, he would be eating more. But the numbers really don't add up, do they? I had 2 dogs about his size, and they each ate about 3 cups per day. So say it's 3 lbs for both dogs (2 cups equal 16 oz/one pound), that would be 21 pounds per week for two huge dogs.

Tucker's Mom said...

Oh yeah, if Kate thinks that food is expensive, just wait until the dog ages or needs surgery or has a chronic disease. Hoo boy, it adds up.

Also, I like my In and Out every six months.

I'm getting hungry.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

That's one reason why I advocate feeding top quality dog food or don't get a dog. My dog and everyone I've talked to with dogs find that they don't eat as much. So much of crap dog food is basically empty calories or quick fillers to fill them up, then they're hungry an hour later.

Like I said with Innova my dog literally picks at his food eats half a cup a day, he's a great weight if anything he's a bit stocky. But on the puppy food he started on from the shelter he was eating more than he eats now.

Isn't it funny to think back on those days...I have kids the age that I was then. My 20-yr-old was going through pics recently, and held up one (my prom pic) and said, "Who's this girl?" I said, "That's me", and he said (in a completely incredulous voice), "Really?? Wow, Mom! You were a hottie!" Wish he didn't sound so surprised that I might have once been a "hottie".

Marie said...

Kate just says whatever number pops in her head to make herself sound like a better mom for giving her kids whatever. Oh because you know giving them each a bowl of cereal is for mediocre moms. But whereas giving her kids 3 boxes sounds so much more super-mom-ish doesn't it?

If she goes through that many boxes of cereal I don't even want to know how many paper plates and bowls she goes through in a week!

Layla said...

Why DOES she feel the need to impress upon everyone the fact that her kids eat SOOOO much? Does she think we're impressed? I have a pack of big, rowdy boys, but according to her, her little kids eat more than mine do. And she says she spends $2,000 per month on groceries. She must be using the wrong coupons, cause I don't spend half that amount!

PJ's momma said...

Layla, it's so odd that she does do that, because for years, it was filmed what those kids were given to eat, and it was not very much at all. She takes pictures of their lunches and it seems like very small amounts of food to get a kid from 7 am to 4 pm or whatever times they get on/off the bus. Her claims do not match the proof that she herself provides.

What the heck is Kate talking about? Dogs, don't eat that much, don't need to be going to the Vet twice a month? and if you brush & comb them then they should go to the groomers every 3 months, if you don't bath them yourself. I have 2 medium size dogs, and 4 birds. My dogs get 2 cups of dry dog food once a day, in the morning they get: Spike gets 8 dog biscuits, and Rosie get 6. I buy the best of the inexpensive dry dog food,near 50lb bag, about every 2 months, canned food when on sale, and they each spilt a can(which comes to 1 cup of dry and half a can of wet), that I mix in the dry stuff, plus what ever I have as a left over left over.
Why is Kate taking the dog to the Vet twice a month? I go mostly once a year, for: rabies, distemper, parvo and the tick shots? It's a combo shot, plus the heartworm test. I also take them if they get hurt(like when the freeloaders, played to hard and scratch the eye, had to go to a specialist). Other than an emergency, you go once a year, not twice a month. What is she doing to that dog?
As for grooming, it's called a brush and comb. I brush and comb my dogs and one shedds twice a year, the other all the time. They get a bath about 4 times a year. They are very clean the rest of the time. My dogs also have a lot of toys and chew bones. They are rather spoiled. My dogs are house dogs, that is their job, to watch house, they go out side, to do their stuff and exercise(they do that in the house too, exercise). They are my babies. Kate does not know what she is talking about. If I did what she does to one dog, I would be broke in no time. I buy bulk food for my birds, besides the treat seeds and vitamin stuff and give them bread and veggies, paper towels(makes cleaning easier and keeps bird warm and also so you can see if they are sick), for the bottom of their cages, and bird gravel. They also go to the vet when sick and go for annual check-up(once a year). The Vet is expensive, so keeping them healthy & clean is the best advice. I don't know what Kate is doing?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think she is constantly overcompensating in response to all the criticism that she doesn't feed the kids enough.

In her twisted mind, she is thinking, see I've shown them, I DO feed my kids see, see!

HollyMo said...

Look, I get it, kHatie, Dogs can be expensive. My PD went to the vet last week because she woke up with a bad limp, she would not put any weight on her front paw. I checked her out thoroughly and determined that she had some kind of injury to one of her toes. I told DH, I can take her to the vet but it will be expensive. She is our baby and my DH was freaking out, so off to the vet we went. It cost us $260 for the vet to tell us she had a sprain and to keep her quiet for 5 days. Of course they x-rayed her and gave her a prescription for a NSAID.
But we love her and she makes us feel wonderful, so it's worth it.
She also has asthma and requires on-going medical care, but again we love her and she makes us feel wonderful, so it's worth it.
kHate complains because she doesn't love her dog and the way Shoka (could) make her feel.

Just had to laugh at that post and point it out to my family, our family is the same way. 3 cats here right now are Ugly Cat (yes, the ugliest cat we've ever seen, but very sweet), Tiger Cat, and Brown Stripe. We previously had Flat Head (Persian faced kitten) and Bad White (a badly behaved white kitten). Even the 4-H animals were named Red Pig, Spotted Pig, and Belted Pig (had a white stripe around the belly). Not very creative, are we?!

I don't think KG would approve of those names...

Afmin,
If she is to believed, then she would have 8 very obese kids (and one very fat dog). Same with their clothes--remember the episode where the girls were "Mommy" for a day? She said it took her all day to switch out the kids' drawers. She had their winder clothes in big blue containers. I didn't get that at all--she was just taking things out of the containers, then taking things out of the drawers. Stuff from drawers went into containers, stuff from containers went into drawers. Done! But according to her, it took all day. Hmmm.
Then in the RV episode, when she was packing and saying she was up all night packing, and yet we saw her taking new clothes (with tags still attached) off the hangers and throwing them in bags. Didn't she at least wash them first? That one was kind of funny--seeing her draaagggg that bag down the stairs. Oh, she is just soooo exhausted! What a drama queen!

He has a little cart for when his back's wonky, which is ENDlessly entertaining to all who see. He's good with us but aggressive as hell with anyone or any dog that approaches. He bit me once when I got between him and an unleashed dog. (It's amazing how people just keep coming when I tell them he's not friendly and he's baring his teeth and barking at them.) I call BS on Kate's claims with Shoka. Who goes to the vet twice a month? This little dude has blood work for his meds, has had tumors in his mouth, cracked teeth, gastrointestinal distress from eating scat, and MANY other things. We have paid off someone's student loans by now. But he certainly doesn't go twice a month. Even when I had a very ill little bichon AND this one, we never went that much. Thank goodness my new little terrier mix is healthy!
Try a Thunder Shirt. It's a great tool to calm your dog and it keeps him warm too. It's a bit pricey but will last far longer than any sweater and you can adjust it just for his body. They're really good.

Kate had cats once, then got rid of them when the twins came. Kate then had six more kids and bought two big dogs. When the puppies grew up she got rid of both but brought one back. The kids even had to ask her what the dogs name was.

Somehow her past with animals seems a bit concerning. I got a friend when she got married told her husband they could either have kids or a dog but not both.

I gave my cats all kinds of names. My first cat, I got for my 6th birthday, and even though I never saw the movie, I named my cat Andre.

My current cats are one ordinary, Toby, the other one just fit because it's his habit, Escape. But then again we had a weird name once, Bethow, beautiful calico. And because I guess if you have a black cat in the 90s as kids we had to name him Salem--if you get my drift. And also the cat that ran away, Impy.

Cats, dogs, birds, (a hedgehog, too) are all good pets if you put effort into it.

Now, if only my pets would go through the new pet door. No luck yet and it's been three weeks.

I've been on sets with craft services where it's like a candy factory and you can just help yourself. Chips, cookies, yogurt, fruit, gummy worms, and of course full lunches and dinners. Dmasy, maybe it's a barn/farm thing with the names, lol. Poor Ugly Cat has simply added to the appropriateness of her name by choosing to sleep in the trash can! She loves it.

Years ago, we had a cat named Grayskull (the top of its head was gray), and when she had kittens, one gray one survived and we called it Graybaby. Obviously a family naming tradition, lol!

The closest we ever came to naming an animal anything "normal" was when we had an unbelievably smart dachshund named Coney (as in a coney dog), and another named Hoagy (another long sandwich). Nothing as "elegant" as Shoka, I'm afraid!

Bearswife, that's the thing with where you spend your money. You can throw it on cruises with all their potential rip offs, you can buy manicures and hair extensions and trips to LA and NY. Or, you can also spend it on things like a dog that will bring you eight to twelve years or perhaps more of memories and happiness. Where should you really throw your money and where should you cut back?

Kate will throw down thousands on trips and personal appearance, but wants to go cheap with one of the few things in life I promise she WILL have memories of and who WILL fill her up and warm her heart IF she is open to a relationship with a dog. People with dogs live longer and are happier. So isn't it worth a few extra bucks?

HollyMo said...

So isn't it worth a few extra bucks?

Absolutely! PD is just a few months shy of turning 11 and going strong, we think she will make 14 or 15 easy (as long as we keep the asthma under control). My last dog, Sophie, had major health problems and died at the age PD is now. She died right here, where I am sitting now, in my arms. But she saw me through many dark days and kept me going, so it was the least that I could do to hold when it was her time to go. You can't buy love or companionship like that...

It does seem odd that a narcissist wouldn't get off on the complete adoration our pets give us - too much work, i suppose.

I don't know about dog food c/o's, because I haven't owned a dog for many years, but the premium cat foods have c/o's that are made available to breeders. I feed my cat Innova, and I get the c/o's at cat shows. Maybe the same is true of dog shows and Kate has an "in" who gets her c/o's?

PJ's momma -- thanks for posting that video. I've never been a K.D. Lang fan before. That video changed it for me. Jeff Buckley will always be my artist of choice for "Hallelujah", but Lang's will be a close second. BTW -- someone posted upthread that Buckley was a suicide. I think his death was considered an accident. He went swimming in a river and drowned. I remember that West Wing episode someone upthread posted about, too. Mark Harmon's character was shot while Buckley's "Hallelujah" played. Devastating episode. I can't listen to the song without tears.

If Kate's feeding Shoka 15# of dry dog food a week plus some canned, he's getting too much food. I pet sit for friends who have 3 dogs -- a Golden Retriever, a Norwegian Elkhound and a Boston Terrier, and they eat about 15# of food a week together. I think Kate just pulls these figures out of her azz and expects people to believe her, just like when she said her kids ate 3 1/2 dozen eggs in one meal. She doesn't actually do the feeding, so she has no idea he eats.

PJ's momma said...

I think Thundershirt is a good option for any animal that suffers anxiety. Not so sure that it helped with our dog's anxiety, but he's shaped like a spark plug, so it's hard to find sweaters that fit and it definitely works for that. Plus, it seems to support his bad back. I highly recommend them.

Visualizing Sheeple said...

So Milo wants Kate to visualize her. Here's how I bet Kate sees her:

If Milo is a female, she's very short, about five feet tall when she can stand, between 95 and 100 pounds, wiry and feisty, walks with a cane, straight salt and pepper hair pulled back in some kind of a twist, large round glasses, pantyhose sagging around the ankles, gerbil-like woman who will beat anyone over the head with a big black satchel bag if they came near her. Anyone, that is, except Kate. She has endless kisses reserved just for her.

If Milo is a man, he's about five feet six inches tall, 350 pounds, wears a wife-beater shirt and denim shorts that don't cover his butt-crack, tattoo of Norman Bates on his shoulder that says, "Come Shower With Me," two black hairs done in a comb-over, beer can in one hand, cigar in the other, sandals and white knee socks. That's his attire for formal night on the ship.

Am I close? Portrait of a sheeple?

Oh, and Kate's a moron. I'd love to shove 15 pounds of bargain dog food down her throat. Anything to stop the lies.

They are also very good at remembering to let Shoka in when even the teensiest drops of rain begin to fall. We like his fluffy fur to stay clean and fluffy and not get wet and (gasp!) smelling like dog!"
________________________________________________

Yeah right. I had a family dog with kids that age. They were all about rushing out of bed to make a 6:45 school bus and making sure the dog got fed. Give me a break. My dog would have starved given those parameters.

Sounds like the dog is outside a lot. I'm sure Katie's kiddies are all over making sure the dog isn't exposed to the elements. I don't get the impression those kids are full of compassion and responsibility toward the dog - like most kids. I remember telling my kids numerous times the dog came over and is showing you all that attention because she wants to get fed - so fed her. Want to bet that Katie doesn't let the dog in when he's wet and smells like wet dog? My guess is the dog doesn't come close to living to a ripe old age.

Marie said...

Even after all that cereal didn't Kate also say that the kids were starting to dig into their lunches on the bus ride to school? So she would pack them extra breakfast needs for the ride to school?

I mean call me crazy, but with what we've seen put on their plate and her claim they can eat all this food just...I know 1 + 1 = 2 but something isn't adding up here. You can't have it both ways.

The same woman who said the kids didn't eat dinner because they were so full of chocolate organic milk? The same kids who she said fall asleep at the dinner table for whatever reason? With her crackers and cheese lunches and telling the kids they didn't even make a dent in their eating?

I don't get it. Which way is up again with this woman?

As a dog question because I own a small dog, he weighs 13lbs. but he rarely eats any dry food. It is a special kind. Is this normal? I just always wondered. Thinking of changing it but I wouldn't know. The cats eat most of the dog dry food...which is bad.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I thought dogs need some dry food to work their teeth, Marie. My vet says feed dry or a mix of wet and dry if you can afford it.

PJ's momma said...

Marie, I think one benefit of dogs eating dry kibble is that it helps keep their teeth clean. Don't know if an all wet diet would be bad. Probably not, as some even cook their own dog food and all that. I cooked my dog chicken/rice/veggies for a bit while he recovered from something and the vet looked at his teeth and showed me that they were covered with slime. He needed that kibble. But maybe yours is OK, and/or gets hard treats to help with that. Hopefully the cats get some cat food too - the dog food won't give them the nutrients they need, but they sure do love it!

You said everything I thought about Kate's comments about meals versus what is shown. It's all such BS and never consistent!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

From what I've been told by the vet wet food is more important if you have a cat. Not as important for a dog if not harmful. Dogs will go to their water bowl at least a few times a day and sit there for a big long drink. Cats tend to not want to slobber over the waterfowl, they will take smaller drinks and less frequent, and as a result or more susceptible to becoming dehydrated. They can get more water through wet food, hence why cats do better with wet. The number one way cats die is kidney problems which can be caused by years of chronic dehydration they eventually can't recover from.

Though you can get by without doing it, we never fed our cat wet food more out of ignorance, and he lived for 18 years.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

You didn't read her post clearly enough. She said it was a WILD barn cat. There were barn cats at my uncle's place. They are difficult if not impossible to catch. They will claw your eyes out if you try to. If you can capture them to spay them good for you, but some of them are impossible. All you can do is make sure all the kittens are fixed before they flee the nest.

Sorry, Spay or neuter. I was remembering farm life from the 50's. I was a child. Old Gray Mother Cat was completely wild and lived in our hay loft.

@PJ's Momma,

My little guy gets treats, Milk Bone is his favorite. I give him can food, dry food but it just tends to sit there. The cats nibble at it and it bugs me can't be good for them. My cats get wet food, dry food and treats too. Think I'll ask my vet is switching dry food is best. I make sure my pets are from shelters, warm, happy, fed and clean. One I got for free because apparently you can't take a animal to Petsmart and ask them to take it, they won't so I asked the lady if I could have her kitten.

As far as Kate and her food and possibly lying about over feeding the kids I also wondered because all she babbles about is eating salads and organic this or that. Her Tweet of one of her kids asking for Caesar salad for dinner. I don't think I've ever seen a kid request a salad for dinner. I babysit so only thing I see kids as for is you know, chicken nugget, oranges, pizza, strawberries but I haven't had one ask me for a salad.

Maybe her kids like it because that's all she eats? Not saying kids wouldn't like it but like most kids and "green stuff" you know...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cats need dry food to clan their teeth too. Most cats prefer FRESH water. You have to watch your cat and see where they prefer to take their drink. If they prefer to take a drink from the toilet then leave the lid up. If they prefer to drink from the sink faucet then let them drink from it a few times a day. We would put a bucket in the sink and lave the faucet dripping all day. The cat could take a drink when it wanted from the faucet. We would use the water in the bucket to water house plants and garden plants. The take home message is that its important to know your pets. Know where they are and what they are doing. Its obvious that Kate has no clue about her dog.
Today is the 15th birthday of my cat Ben Nevis (and his brother Dundee, the love of my life, who died of heart disease just about 2 years ago). He's really acting like a creaky old man, which scares me. He's due for another $300+ cardiac ultrasound, which I can't afford, but of course he'll get it anyway. Barra, my other cat, will be 13 next month and still acts like a 5-year-old! I got all of them when they were 7 weeks old.
Cloudy, my family cat when I was a kid, had 31 litters of kittens! Don't yell at me, it was the 60s and we didn't know any better. My sister and I would traipse around the neighborhood with kittens in a basket and managed to give most of them away. I'd never in a million years do that these days with all the loonies out there, but at the time it made sense.
I'd love to hear more of everyone's animal stories, if Admin doesn't mind.
My husband and I were wondering what we could try next, as she doesn't do well with medication. She looks exactly like Barney Fife on a bad day, and it's so sad!
Perhaps if she hadn't been so rude, demanding, and greedy when dealing with TLC and the camera crew, they wouldn't have dumped her in the first place. Why does she think she can treat people so horribly and they will keep coming back? Her ratings were crappy, she wanted enormous amounts of money, and that still wasn't enough. They had to shell out even more for elaborate trips (oh, wait, my bad--they don't go on posh trips. Right.) and home improvements every time they filmed. And then she treated the crew like servants and wanted them to work for HER, not just film the show like they were supposed to. And she was a total b**** throughout the whole process, to the point that they couldn't edit out her nastiness and just gave up and left it in, because there wasn't enough usable film left if they had to cut out her b*****ness..
No wonder they don't want anything to do with her! She's not the kind of person who will see the error of her ways and change. She'll just be even more furious with them for ditching her in the first place, and she'll take it out on everyone at TLC who has to deal with her directly. That's why they don't want to do any specials. I bet they can't put together a camera crew willing to go film her. I know I wouldn't do it.
If her Keurig coffee maker flaked this morning, here is a CC idea. Super organized Kate can tell us how she always staples receipts to the warranty info from a products. Then she files these these receipts by year, or store, or category so they can be quickly retrieved. She can coach us on the procedure of approaching store management for a replacement or refund.
That advice might include mentioning that a pleasant customer is appreciated more than a demanding customer. She could pitch Keurig as a reputable company who replaces a malfunctioning item without hesitation.
Oh, well...another missed opportunity for her.
It's been terrific so far, especially considering I drink decaf and DH does caff. He spent years going without a cup of caff first thing in the morning with our old coffee maker because we just defaulted to decaf in the carafe.
Great point about registering appliances, saving receipts, keeping track of warranties and taking care to maintain them. I know I'm due to give our Keurig a good cleaning so it doesn't get clogged. It's a common problem and I'm sure that in the time it took Kate to bitch about in on Twitter, she could have Googled how to fix it and got it done.
I'm enjoying all of the pet talk, too. Our now 7 year old has named all but one of the animals, his best friend named one of the bunnies.
We have a cat named Ming Meow, two house bunnies, Bugs and Cinnamon, 2 goldfish, Dorothy and Gorothty, 2 mice named Jerry and Nibbles - see a pattern?
Ming Yao was a character from Sagway the Chinese, Siamese Cat, his favorite show when we got her. She, however is an orange long hair with massive double paws!
Ming is on a high quality canned food, and we brush her teeth gently at least 5 times a week. The goldfish have a nicely set up tank and one interacts with us quite a bit.
The house bunnies have totally won our hearts. I had no idea how wonderful they are as companions! They are so clean - use a litterbox, and have the run of the house. We had to learn how to bunny-proof - they are drawn to electrical cords. We've made countless places for them to run, climb, hop etc... They have fresh hay several times per day. We pick fresh greens outdoors daily spring-fall, and they get all different kinds of produce in the winter. They *love* radishes - who knew?? My son loves them so much. They hop, twist, run, love to be patted, flop in the cutest ways. We had them neutered and they are best buds.
One day, when the time is right, my son would love a dog. I really enjoy taking care of the whole menagerie! Our son does, too. He feeds his frogs, gives the buns treats and helps me pick greens some of the time.
I still can't wrap my mind around the way Kate talks about her kids or animals - always such a chore. The only display of "joy" I ever see is her response to FREE.
I didn't realize Paula Deen was diagnosed 3 years ago. She's went on to get a huge endorsement contract with Smithfield ham. Type II diabetes would have certainly gummed that up-- kind of like admitting publicly that your marriage is over would have put the kabash on a trip to Hawaii.
Another little hint is to remove the K-cups once the coffee has brewed so the needles don't sit in the grounds. We've had ours for years and have never had a problem.
Pet stories and names of pets have stirred up many memories for me.
Last night Spay and Neuter challenged me for stating that our Old-Gray-Mother-Cat had unlimited litters of kittens. That comment created more reflection. I am 64-years-old now, but my details may make me seems as if I shared life with Laura Ingles.
We had a milk cow on our farm. Dad taught us that you always squeeze the first milk into a separate container than the family milk pail. The richest cream is lost for sanitary purposes. That milk was always aimed into a shallow pan for the cats in our hay loft. We also had chickens. There are always one or two hens who do not lay a conventional egg with a solid shell. Instead, she delivers an egg with a leathery soft case. Those eggs were designated for pet food.
Old Gray Mother Cat may have dined quite well. I don't know. We never saw her eat from the pan we provided. Some critter did, as it was always licked clean. Mother Nature, in a way harsh enough to be lost on little farm kids, provided population control and the number of wild cats stayed constant.
We wore big, red rubber boots and ran around the barnyard hoping to tame any of the cats that ran faster than we girls could. We had many pets, but not the kind that sleep in my bed with me now. Life was more "natural" and we learned about death and food production and reality.
That seems like a long time ago. Before I moved to a city, got "sophisticated" and moved my pets inside.
Re the dog food, I think what Kate probably did was read a bag of dog food and go by what the manufacturer says to feed. Our current kibble says to give 7 cups daily the bully's weight (74 pounds of pure muscle). He gets 2 cups (1 in the morning and 1 in the evening) and is happy and healthy. We mix a little something in his dinner every night. If he sniffs around the bowl and appears to be hungry we'll give him an extra 1/2 cup. This is how the vet advised us to do it. If we fed him what the manufacturer recommends we'd be able to cut off his legs and roll him down a hill and he'd roll forever! Bulldogs tend to be lazy and inactive read that as "No mom, I'd rither sit on the couch you can walk alone") so you've really got to watch their weight and watch what you feed them.
Back to Kate's meals- she seems to have odd combinations of things, like the Caesar Salad and biscuits, and that impromptu lunch. Remember the chicken cacciatore and a cob of corn? The crackers, zucchini and grapes? She seems to think adding a veg improves the healthy status of the meal she 'feeds' the children. For 'show' I mean! I love veggies but don't just plant them in a meal to show how 'nutritional' I am...
Dallas Lady said...
After reading all this (and I always manage to miss the poor sheeple who are so offended by my straight talk about what an ass Kate is!), I had a thought: let's predict the things Kate will give up as her money and career choices dwindle in the order that she'll give them up.
1. Shoka. No doubt. She doesn't care about that dog, no matter what she says in tweets, that much is clear. She sees the dog as a drain on resources and a pain in the butt. No matter how the kids feel (when has she ever considered their feelings?), the dog will go.
2. The Mercedes bus. I believe it seats 12? She'll downgrade that to something less expensive and that maybe only seats 9.
3. The Toyota Sequoia. She might be tempted to just give it up altogether.
4. The kids' private school. This is a status thing for her, but this is also one of her biggest expenses, besides that house. This will go before the house.
5. The hired help EXCEPT the nanny. She'll hold on to the nanny until she literally can't do so anymore.
6. The hired outside help--lawn and garden, pool, chickens, etc. What I think she'll do instead is try to get someone to do it for a cheaper rate or free. She obviously can't just let it go (though that would make for a great made-for-TV movie, wouldn't it? Kate all alone in that great big house that's falling down around her ears with three feet high grass and a green pool with snakes living in it?). But she will try to grift cheaper services (if she isn't already).
7. Then she'll be forced to admit she can no longer afford the house, which will get to her the most.
I can't see her being super quick to give up her tanning, getting her hair done (though has anyone noticed that Jason guy doesn't respond to her tweets? She tweeted him a happy birthday two days ago and he said thank you to someone else who said the same thing, but not to her? I think her days of comped hair services are over), her nails done, all the stuff that's for HER.
I might have left some things out. What do y'all thing?
Meant to say this, too:
You know how each of us has had a particular moment watching this hag in which we realized something about her? It's interesting how it's different for everyone.
I think I've shared here that my early moment that something wasn't right with Kate was the first episode I ever saw. The younger kids were quite young, maybe three? She sat in the garage while they played and she kept griping over and over and over and over about how HARD it was to take care of them. HOW HARD. IT WAS SO HARD. I was sitting there thinking "then why did you have eight kids?" I mean, common sense, right? You had two first. If you find kids so unbearably difficult, why did you have more? She bitched about them nonstop. Everything was so horrible for her. Then I saw how she treated her husband and was completely chilled by it.
But my later moment was during the RV trip and it didn't even involve another person. It was when she went to get the vacuum cleaner from the other RV and DRAGGED IT ACROSS THE ROCKS all the way back to the RV she was going to use it in. It was a decent looking vacuum cleaner and I actually gasped when I saw that. The complete disregard for ruining this machine that she needed to USE was amazing. Like, who cares, obviously SHE didn't pay for it, so she's just going to beat it all to shit on the way over to the RV. She was so mad about having to do this HERSELF that she couldn't even be arsed to PICK IT UP OFF THE GROUND.
That told me everything I needed to know about her. Ever. She clearly didn't appreciate what she had and had no consideration for anything but herself, like a child who was never taught any better. And there was absolutely no excuse for that. Her arms are strong enough to pick up a vacuum two inches off the ground and carry it 50 feet. No one was impeding her from doing this. She KNEW she was dragging it, it was bouncing all over the damn rocks. She wasn't being distracted by kids--they weren't around her. No excuse, she just didn't care.
Never been a fan of Paula Deen and I'm southern. Her recipes are too rich and too fatty. No wonder she has health issues. But to keep it quiet because she didn't want to damage her brand (sound familiar?) makes me angry that these celebs will do whatever it takes to keep their fans and be relevant. I don't feel one bit of sympathy for her. She'll turn this around and be a health foodie guru.
Count me in with those who isn't too fond of Paula Dean. While I agree that her cruises are probably more fun than Kate's will ever be, I have trouble respecting someone who is willing to attach her name to everything. I understand that celebrities to endorsement deals, but the fact that she signs off on so many of these for products that she can't possibly have much to do with (and are cheaply made and wind up in the clearance bin at Big Lots) tells me that she is a person who lacks integrity. She may be lovely in real life, she certainly has a lot of personality, but she's another one who has a phoney image with her chiclet teeth and orange skin.
I was reading some of the comments on the Today's Health page about whether PD is going to start promoting healthier foods. Why now? She's known about this for three years and did nothing, but now that she's made the disease public, she's going to start eating healthier? I could understand a change in diet now, especially to promote healthier eating habits to her fans if the diagnosis would have been made a month or so ago, but three years ago?
Yeah, I am another non-fan of Paula Dean. Hr accent and voice are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Funny thing is, I am from LA and I never even heard oh her until I was stationed in VA 5 years ago. So she is relatively new to me. I wouldn't blame her if she kept her diabetes quiet because it's a medical condition and that should be private, but keeping it private to protect her brand is hypocritical. So, if I had been a fan before, I certainly would have stopped now. Where is the integrity these days?
Kate has only tweeted once today, and not even to the new sheeple who has supposedly signed up for her cruise (a completely new Twitter ID on this one, out of the woodwork, so to speak), so I think she is on her way to LA, where she is apparently making a live appearance on Extra on Thursday. I wouldn't be surprised if she's in NY today getting the hair bleached. Wonder how long she'll stretch out this little getaway.
Oh, my opinion of Paula just went down too, and I do like her personality, though not her cooking. She missed an opportunity to be honest and also to be a good example of how to change to manage your disease. Lots of people could use that example and maybe learn something from her. But she took the endorsement and says she won't change - that's sad.
How anyone could have watched even one episode of that show and come away feeling that Kate was someone to look up to and admire is completely baffling to me. Baffling!! The word that springs to mind whenever I think of Kate is “shameless.” You’re correct; she does not care in the least for these poor desperate souls who are her fans. She’ll use them like she uses everyone else who crosses her path. She is self-absorbed, self-serving, greedy and phony. Oh yeah, can’t forget rude and unpleasant. i may be in the minority, but I don't think that Paula Deen owes or owed the public a confession about her private medical affairs. And you can like or not like the timing of her announcement with the announcement about her deal with the drug company, but I certainly hope that some public awareness is generated by this announcement. And I wish her good health.
***************************
I think you are probably correct to some extent. It is frequently VERY hard for the average person to come to terms with diabetes and such an often drastic change in lifestyle - I've seen it time and time again. And I think it may have been even more difficult for someone who has always cooked the way she does. It can be an unbelievably hard lifestyle change for someone who, frankly, loves to cook and eat with the full flavor they grew up with.
Do I think it was wise to wait this long considering her job and promotion or so on? No, I think it is going to hurt her PR a bit. But, I think it's possible that she simply may not have come to terms with it herself for some time and then wasn't sure how to mesh that with what has been her identity for so many years.
An interesting link regarding Paula Deen's Diabetes announcement:
http://bites.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/17/10173727-paula-deen-diabetes-diagnosis-wont-change-how-i-cook
My husband was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. This is a man who ate pretty healthy food - veggies, fruits, etc. - and worked out regularly but as he's gotten older the weight seemed harder and harder to get rid of.
When he first got the news, he went through some depression. He shared it with family and a few friends but it wasn't something he felt like broadcasting to the world. Now, I realize Paula Deen is a celebrity cook and perhaps she should have been more forthcoming. But she is also a human being and perhaps it would be good to remember she might have gone through some depression as well.
It was interesting when Al Roker asked if she was eating differently. As she said, the way she cooks on her show isn't how she eats 365 days a year. Now, we don't have cable and I don't watch her show all that often, so I can't say how often she tells her viewers to eat everything in moderation, but her comment to Oprah "I'm your cook, I'm not your doctor" seems to be indicative of her attitude. I don't think she's ever claimed that eating the food she cooks on her shows is what many would call health food and I don't think she apologizes for it.
In my personal opinion, it's about personal responsibility. Saying "I'm fat or I have Type 2 Diabetes because Paula Deen encouraged me to be, with all her southern cooking" is comparable to Kate Gosselin telling the State of PA that "society has a responsibility to help with the children, since modern medicine promotes the use of fertility drugs, which can lead to multiple births."
As for my husband, he's doing great. With the metformin along with watching his portion sizes and counting his carbs, he's already lost 10lbs and is still losing. This was a good wake up call for all of us in our family and we're being more mindful of what and how we eat. As Paula Deen said, it's everything in moderation. You just need to make sure you're being honest with yourself about what's moderate. :-)
All of this is, as always, my own opinion and you're welcome to respectfully disagree.
My feeling is that the PR has been the last thing PD has been concerned with, more that she has been confronting her diagnsis and life changes. Her son's new show could be the way the Deen family is going to deal with it publically, and there is nothing wrong in becoming a spokesperson for a diabetes drug. I have the utmost respect for PD, who actually rose to the challenge of supporting her sons through physically hard work and personal denial,not to mention overcoming her agoraphobia, unlike our friend here KG who wants it handed to her. PD and her boys are a close family, and those boys work hard too. I may not cook like PD, but I certainly respect her as a person, and you know, think she would be a hoot to have lunch with. I say almost because really, I don't want any kind of financial crisis to be taken out on the kids. DL, when you described her dragging the vaccum over the rocks, I got chills. She has a chemical imbalance- it's as plain and simple as that. She needs medication. Because depression meds are known to cause weight gain and make losing weight hard, I can see her choosing not to take them. She'd much rather be skin and bones than to be a calm, rational person. Besides, she absolutely enjoys her me me all me all the time attitude, her imagined superiority and the terror she instills in her children. She seems to think that makes her strong.
I don't think the people from Keurig, read kate twitters. Remember Kate devotes do e-mail places & companies on behalf of Kate. That lazy ass is too lazy to do it herself. Okay, Dallas Lady, here's my listof things to go(in order):
1. The Toyota Sequoia. The van is needed for all the kids, and she "needs" her Audi for the better gas mileage (Ha, Ha. We know she really needs it for her ego). The Sequoia won't hold all the kids, and the gas mileage isn't very good, so she can brush it off by saying she really doesn't need it. Saves face with the Sheeple. And she certainly won't admit she got rid of it until someone points it out. Come to think of it, has anyone seen her use it lately? It might already be gone.
2. The organic food. But she'll still claim she's buying organic. And she'll plant a big garden to help "feed" the kids.
3. Some of her "help". But not all of it, cause she's way too special to have to scrub toilets.
4. Shoka. But it won't be her fault. She'll find a way to blame it on Jon, or say that they suddenly found out that the kids were allergic.
5. The kids' school. She'll say they really wanted to go to the local school to get to know the kids who live in their town, or some other such crap, but everyone will know that it's really because she can't afford it.
6. Lumped together as "last"--and these won't go until she's declaring bankruptcy--will be the house and the Audi. Those are the things that she thinks set her apart from all the mediocre people out there, so they will have to be taken from her before she'll let them go. Then she'll set up an account for "love offerings" from the sheeple so they can support her, and use the money to have her hair and nails done.
I think I would rather Kate take whatever anger she has out on an inanimate object than her children. I don't care if she has to replace her 19th i-phone, that is better than having to go to the hospital because she took it out on one of her kids.
My question is, why, why is that house such a *status* symbol? I get that it's in PA and she was (was, meaning past-tense, aka. over). Nobody but herself is going to care if she moves back into a neighborhood with or without a pool. It's not like people in the store are going to laugh and point and say, "Oh there goes the mom of 8 who can't afford the big house!" This isn't middle school.
As far as school goes, I've been to good schools and bad schools. What works is if your child is happy, well adjusted and gets taught the things in life that will benefit them. Prep school or public, Catholic or chater school it does not matter. Kate just see's things with those rose colored glasses on all the time. She is missing the picture here.
But I don't see her keeping onto Shoka. I mean she never did explain why she brought back just him and not Nala. I mean Kate did pick the dogs out herself. I am waiting for that explanation.
Report: It's twins again for 'Teen Mom' Leah Messer
MTV
A recent report reveals that it's twins again for pregnant "Teen Mom 2" star Leah Messer.
By Ree Hines
Updated at 11:52 a.m. PT
It looks like tiny "Teen Mom 2" stars Aliannah and Aleeah won't simply have to make room for one new brother or sister when mom Leah Messer gives birth. According to In Touch Weekly, the twins will have to make room for a brother and sister -- or two brothers or maybe two sisters.
Yes, sources close to Messer revealed she's expecting twins again.
“She just found out last week,” one insider told the magazine.
Messer is said to be "thrilled" to be expanding her family with fiancé Jeremy Calvert. She's also said to be excited about the television opportunities two more babies could bring.
"She thinks the babies will help her get her own spin-off show,” the insider said.
Multiple multiples and a solo show? If that sounds like a familiar set up, it should.
The insider added, “She wants her own series and her own brand, just like Kate!”
As in Gosselin.
But Messer is denying In Touch's report. On Thursday morning, the reality personality tweeted, "Thank you @intouchweekly for telling me I am having twins again, love bad reporting and fake stories, it does sound like a Soap Show! Ha!"
Marie,
I really think the house and the private school have a lot to do with her envy of Beth. Remember the 4th of July episode where they go to Beth and Bob's house? That place was amazing! Kate had mentioned before that Beth lived in a big house, and then when Jon got on the 4-wheeler with Kate and she said they took a "magical tour of the property". BIG house-envy there. So, Kate just had to have a big house, too. Of course, hers is nowhere near was nice as the one that Beth had, but she can't afford one like Beth had. So she got as big a place as she could afford. And I have heard that some of Beth's kids went (or still go) to the same school where the Gosselin kids go. And Beth had the 2-seater sports car, so Kate had to have one. Beth has blonde hair, so Kate had to go blonde. Beth went to the spa, so Kate has to go to the spa. Are we seeing a pattern here?
Marie said...
Living somewhat vicariously comes to mind. The more you try to be something your not the more apparent it might become.
She's playing catch-up with herself. It's like back in the fifth grade when everyone I knew had to have a Britteny Spears items, watch, cd you name it. Okay so I'm dating myself here a bit but that's okay. Kate wants whatever everyone else's has just for the purpose of having it. Sure I tried it once, but got told no matter what I had would never make me popular.
Do I play this game today? Heck no. Kate....still seems like she does. She will buy whatever it takes to be seen as that one thing she didn't have growing up. Oh boo-hoo.
This is what drives me crazy. Adults acting like children still playing the catch-up game. So sad, really it is.
Now I don't know because I've only heard it a few times, didn't Beth have to downsize or something? I wonder if the day shall ever come will Kate be as graceful as her once-upon-a-time friend?
And for a laugh, I wonder how Kate will cope with the day her hair will begin to turn gray? And old age creeps over her? Oh that'll be something. You can't deny age, least not physically but you can try.
I too don't care much for Paula Deen, her cooking is fat and rich and greasy. She is rather loud. What I think happen to PD is that she has been in denial for 2-3 years, after being told by her Doctor that she is type 2. and need to lose weight and has high blood pressure. She was on Dr Oz and he kind of blasted her about her weight, pressure and the food she eats and cooks. I don't remember her talking about type 2, but Dr Oz mentioned it.
I bring this up cause I was told by my Doctor that I'm type 2 going on 3 years)(I take the A1C test every 3 months, and I'm just over the border .5, which makes me type 2) I was in denial for about a year. My Doctor started me on Metaformin, then increased the it a bit, I take it twice a day, lost 20 lbs(he says I should loose more) I feel like I eat more food now than I did years ago, eating around the clock, that is how it feels, I'm not a sweet eater, but a carb eater. PD has just come to terms with it. When she was on Dr Oz, she was really having a hard time dealing with, the fact her cooking was a heart attack in the making. She did cry. Don't be too hard on her, old habits are hard to give up. I gave up a lot of foods, read labels endlessly, took classes, still don't feel like I've mastered it. They tell you to watch the carbs, plus you have to watch the sodium, sugar, it gets to be really madding. But you learn real quick, or get sick. @kateplusmy8 Old way? Grounds in a pot on the fire? Like the cowboys did?
My grandparents, being Mennonites in the land of the PA Dutch, always made their coffee this way...not on an open fire, but in a big enamel pot on the stove, with the grounds dumped right in the pot. When I was a kid, I would beg them for coffee, and they would always give me some, providing I didn't tell my mother. It was by far the best coffee I have ever tasted. I would have no idea how to make it that way, but those memories (and the smell and taste of that coffee) will always be with me.
My mother always had Maxwell house instant coffee, in the house, before we had a coffee maker, my mother would make a coffee pot of coffee, lasted 3 days. (by the 3rd day it was bad). Sometimes I would buy the ground stuff, like I do at Targets dollar bin or the 8 o'clock ground. I can see Kate dragging that coffee pot over to the sink and then the coffee bag.(oooh how heavy it is, better get purseboy to handle it)Pouring water into it and then putting it on the stove. WOW just like grandma and Grandpa did int he olden days. How terrible Kate, I feel your pain. LOLOLOLOL
I have a Keurig coffee maker and is started to only make half a cup. It would have to go through another cycle to get a full cup. My significant other called the company even though the warranty was up. He really just wanted to know if they had any tips on what might be wrong. They led him through a few steps and it still didn't work. Without my SO even asking for it Keurig volunteered to send us a brand new machine. In less than a d a new coffee maker delivered to our front door. They didn't ask us to send the broken one back or anything else in return for the new coffee maker. Their customer service is excellent but I also agree that they make their money on the coffee pods not so much the machines. I don't think their Tweet to Kate didn't have much to do with her being a "celebrity" as it did them not wanting the bad feedback.
Here's how Kate will downsize:
1. Extras for the kids, like after school activities
2. Necessities for the kids, like clothing. She'll buy cheap and two sizes too large
3. Extra help around the house
4. External signs of wealth and prosperity
5. Personal upkeep (weave, toe strangling shoes, Botox, slutwear) for herself
Well, Kate and the duggars have influenced more than the teen moms. My friend's next door neighbor is preggers with her 9th child; the oldest is only 11 and she has had 3 miscarriages mixed in their too. Do the math: constantly pregnant. The dad works as a music teacher at a catholic school, they live in a modest 4 bedroom house. Mom stays at home, not sure if she home schools or not. She cannot and does not control her older kids: two of her boys repeatedly trespass onto my friend's property to bounce on their trampoline. They have jumped down from branches to get into the yard and recently broke the fence, which was promptly fixed. And you guessed it....they started shopping for a reality show since they had their sixth kid. No luck but they keep getting pregnant.
I thought the same thing. The last thing the company wants is someone badmouthing them on twitter. Of course it is worth it to them to make her happy vs the bad mouthing. Next she'll tweet how quick they were to fix the problem. Purely good business to do this.
Of course Kate will think it's because she's so "special".
Kate tweeted that she needs the Keurig industrial version and, of course, included @Keurig in her tweet. She also included @starbucks in a tweet about what kind of coffee she likes. Good grief.
I saw a couple of Milo's tweets. ("Still waiting Kate...have U run dry on arguments 4hubby abt this cruise? :)" and others where she defended Kate to a STRANGER who was trying to get a response from Kate.) I wonder if Kate just wants to tell him/her to f*ck off already.
Tucker's Mom said...
An "industrial Keurig"? What? Does Kate hook it up like an IV and mainline it into the kids before sending them off to school?
SeeSaw said...
Tucker's Mom: Hahaha. Maybe what Kate means is an office model. Keurig does make coffee makers for office use that are bigger, hold more water, etc.
Dallas Lady/Silimom/Layla, et. al. -- I honestly think Kate will give up the kids before she gives up any of "her" luxuries, like the sports car, the house, the tanning/mani-pedis/spa treatments, etc. She'll send them to live with Jon, but will try to spin it that it was so she could concentrate on her "career".
Dallas Lady -- The warning bell for me was the first episode I watched "10 Little Pumpkins". I was appalled at Kate's freakout over the "mess" when Jon and the kids were having fun carving their pumpkins. I couldn't believe she would just deliberately spoil their fun over nothing. They weren't making a mess at all, Jon was being very careful and neat. I did continue to watch the show for another season or two, because I thought the kids were cute and also because I wanted to see how outrageous Kate's behavior became. I finally got disgusted with myself and stopped watching before the move to the mansion, although I always made a point of reading the recaps here and on GWOP.
I don't really have any opinions on Paula Dean. I haven' watched her show much, but from what I've read, her cooking is the kind of cooking I was raised on. I'm a Type 2 diabetic, and I can't lose weight. I take steroids to control an autoimmune disorder, and they caused my weight gain and my diabetes. I'm well-controlled though, with meds and watching my diet. I'm lucky that I am easily controlled and don't have some of the other complications like high cholesterol, but I try to be careful, just the same.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
I'm torn about this Paula Deen thing and I think I'm largely being influenced by a close family member I lived with who is diabetic. Diabeties for some reason IS very personal and sometimes embarrassing for those who have it. Family member never talks about it with anyone other than immediate family. I think one reason so many diabetics are embarrassed is because it can draw a lot of attention to yourself. Think about it, we eat at least three times a day and so much of our lives revolve around meals with family and friends. A diabetic has to figure out what they are eating, figure out what insulin to take (if they're type 1 or type 2 insulin dependent) excuse themselves to go take said insulin, and then make sure they don't go over or under the insulin that budgeted for. And if you have a reaction, it makes a scene and all eyes are on you including sometimes, paramedics. I get it, it's embarrassing for someone who is private about personal matters and doesn't want to be the center of attention. I see why this is uncomfortable to announce to the world. And it is VERY common to go through a period of denial, I have seen this first hand. This period can last weeks, months or years and can sometimes even resurface. I had a friend who was diagnosed at age 5. She took excellent care of herself up until about the age of 16 when she decided I'm a teen and this isn't going to stop the way I live my life. It's a typical teen brain reaction. She got very sick and was hospitalized before she was shaken back to reality that this disease to some extent is going to dictate how she lives whether she likes it or not.
And, it's not like Paula Deen went into this career with diabetes. She had a long established comfort southern comfort food career and later got diabetes. If you've built a literal empire only to discover that very empire made you very sick, I don't know what you do but panic.
Most diabetics can STILL have comfort food, occasionally. You have to know what it is, you have to calorie count, and you have to budget it into your diet. I am not as bothered about this as some--Paula Deen never told me I have to eat this way, or she eats this way all the time. I always looked at her recipes as an indulgent southern treat once in awhile.
If someone has a show on Food Network about cupcakes, I don't assume they eat cupcakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nor did I assume Paula ate her recipes all the time.
I don't really like that she is sort of capitalizing on it with the drug company deal. We'll see how this shakes out.
Kate tweeted that she has a mind like a "civ". Good lord she's so painfully stupid. Maybe she tried spellcheck but couldn't find sieve because she spelled it with a c? Nah, even that's too much work for her.
Does keurig owe Kate new coffee makers for life to keep her flat caffeinated ass quiet?
My goodness she sure put in a hard day's work grifting today! This is impressive. No wonder she's turning in at 8:30 tonight!
And I like how someone said wouldn't you be embarrassed? I've said the same thing. I used to do a lot of house building mission trips with my church before work and other things got in the way. The families were sweet and beautiful and so appreciative, but oh so very humble and rather chagrined. And some outright embarrassed. And they really needed the help, were hard working good people, and shouldn't have to feel that way--but did, of course, because that's human nature for most people. It is TOUGH for most people to accept charity let alone ask for it. Most people if they are struggling and have to ask for charity will do it up until the very second that they don't need ti anymore. Kate doesn't have an ounce of shame.
Katie Cry-duh said...
Paula Deen has never hidden the fact that her cooking is fatty and fattening. Doubt anyone, including Paula, would want to eat such rich food every day. I don't think she was obligated to announce her disease or change her cooking once she was diagnosed with diabetes. Sure, she's marketing herself a new way now, but that can be a positive. Lots of people can relate to the overindulgence and its consequences. Don't know what she's like personally, but she has an appealing, non threatening, relatable personality on tv. Maybe she can do some good for diabetes awareness
Does Kate think we are STUPID???? Apparently so. Or should I say, does she think her fans are stupid.
Kate absolutely, 100% negotiated a fee for this that was worked into the price. Or, her manager did on her behalf. She is still responsible for what her manager does. But they didn't just pull this number out of a hat. The overinflated price is absolutely based on a complicated breakdown of the numbers to cover the costs of the lame meet and greet events, plus Kate's required fees, plus predictions as to how much people would be willing to pay above the regular price.
Likely there was an exchange of offers between Kate and the company and RC until everyone had a number that worked for them. Where does she think the number came from, outer space???? OF COURSE she was involved with it. And KATE could say I will take less of a profit to make it more affordable.
A sheeple complained we patronized the fans, God if anyone is patronizing them it's this woman.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
All Paula Deen has to say is hey ya'll this is a rich recipe with X amount of calories, for all the diabetics out there, you know you don't eat it every day!
It's such a misconception that as a diabetic you need to eat a strict health food diet. Not at all. Family member has great control, her doctor is 100% happy with her, and she eats cake, cookies, comfort food, etc., in moderation and as long as they keep a healthy weight.
Most diabetics can still eat unhealthy stuff OCCASIONALLY as long as they budget the correct amount of insulin for it. (Type 2 NON insulin dependent is a bit different, since losing weight is the easiest way to get rid of it.)
The problem comes when diabetics are not budgeting the right rate of insulin to calories, which is a common problem and why people think oh that cake is so bad. It's not the cake that is so bad, but not budgeting the right amount of insulin to "cover" the cake.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Also Kate doesn't realize that claiming she had nothing to do with the price just makes her look like she has no control over her career. Everyone in the business negotiates their salaries either directly or through a rep. Who isn't involved in offers and negotiations as to their salary in ANY business? Nobody. You don't get a job at McyD's and then not ask oh by the way what are my wages?
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Were they really going to drag her and the kids all around Europe? Sure sounds like it. Oh man Jon would have frrreaked!
Also, Poland? Were they going to plant Kate screeching and whining at Auschwitz knowing that would set the "haters" into a tizzy? I can guess exactly what little shameless tricks they were probably up to.
Let Keurig send her 100 coffee machines. Let Starbucks send her a metric shit ton of coffee.
NONE of those things are going to pay the mortgage, car insurance, tuition x 8, clothes, heating, lights, water, lawn service, pool service, laundry service, nannies, animal care, mechanics, tanning, hair, nails, food, toiletries, linens, toys, her apparently astronomical vet and dog food expenses, etc.
In fact, let her fly out to LA to be on Extra. Extra doesn't pay and no one cares.
Kate needs an estimated $350,000 a year to cover all her expenses the way things are right now. Even if she has $5 million in the bank, interest on that isn't $350K. We all know she isn't making $350K, so she's digging into the principal, further reducing the interest earned each month. She'll go through it all. It's not a matter of if, but when.
What did someone figure she's making a head on this cruise? $900? And we know there are maybe six people signed up? So $5400. That's maybe a fifth of what she needs for ONE month of expenses.
Katie Cry-duh said...
WTF? Didn't her very first tweet say that her kids would be so proud that she's joined twitter? Mady and Cara must be just hanging their heads in humiliation. Their stupid mom is panhandling for COFFEE twitter.
Katie Cry-duh said...
You know what is so irritating about any windfall Kate may luck into? That she will mismanage that money and spend it on frivolous things, all the while claiming she needs the money for the kids. Those kids live in a big, joyless home and go to an expensive school. Beyond that, I think they see very little of their mom's money. She has always managed to be frugal with regards to their needs. They wear what she can grift for them, they eat what she cooks (veggie barf), they don't do the usual extracurriculars. She, on the other hand, wastes money on plastic surgery, a bodyguard who has been unnecessary for years, shoes, cars, weaves and the like. On what planet should the mom of 8 young kids be spending money so irresponsibly?
Layla said...
Marie said,
Marie, I say that all the time, and then my kids say, "Well, it's not like anyone else would date you!" Har-de-har, a laugh at Mom's expense. They love that.
Kate's not just trying to grift coffee from Starbucks, she wants cocoa for the kids too. Why settle for one big haul when she can maybe get two? Honestly, how is she not embarrassed by her own behavior? So very, very crass. She just can't help herself. That's why, no matter how much money she has, she will still be an outcast in polite society. She has probably ruined any chance her kids have, too.
Also, those tweets about hoping to come back to TV--she's been doing that for five months now. Nothing's happening. She still believes that something will come along, because she's way too special to get a real job.
