Guess what? Vacations DO cost money. I realize your classless grifting orange ass has been sent on vacations with nannies on TLC's dime for years. I realize you now think you can MAKE money going on a vacation by trying to trick your ten poor hapless fans into paying way more than they should for five minutes of your joy-killing presence.
But for everyone else? Vacations COST MONEY. In some cases, a lot of money. Some are worth it, like saving up to see the Coliseum in Rome or stand in a markplazt at Christmas in the snow or seeing the Great Wall of China. Some are NOT worth it, and I'd put your sham cruise squarely in that category.

Such anger over something so petty. Why are you the arbiter of whether a vacation is "worth it?" I don't happen to be a cruise person, but for those who are into cruises the price may be worth it TO THEM. I'd venture to guess that many things you choose to spend your $ on would hold no interest to me whatsoever. Who cares? You spend your $ how you please and let others do the same.
Dang, I meant to say this before sending. Kate and my sister-in-law continue to do those things because nobody ever calls them on their crap! This one was once telling me that a friend or neighbor died - and her family survived because SHE got together a rotating meal plan for people to take meals to the husband and children. So......these people would have also starved to death if it wasn't for her? Instead of asking her that, I said, "So there's no KFC or grocery deli if you girls hadn't done that?" She was speechless. Literally could not speak, mouth hanging open, unable to say a word. How fun would it be to see someone do that to Kate on one of her stupid interviews? I'd get pay-per-view for that one!

They wouldn't, in their wildest imaginations, take this cruise if it wasn't being hawked by Kate. These sheeple aren't into cruises, either. How many of them do you suppose actually cruised before? The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason that they are going is because they think it's going to be one big pajama party/girl's day and night out with Kate. And for that they are being scammed...big time, especially since an intimate up close and personal relationship with her is not going to happen. They don't know this, and they are spending money that they don't have because they think that this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be near her. It may not be deception on Kate's part because she's not actually coming out and saying how much time she will spend slumming with them, but they're going to find out. By then, it's going to be too late. Credit cards will be maxed out.

I don't think that's true. She would just blame others and give odd, untrue reasons and sob stories. Then she would pull the kids out so fast it would make their headspin just as hard as they do when Khate steers them by their heads.
I knew a woman like Kate, once. She was divorced and remarried and would travel all over, taking her kids from her second marriage only because she didn't have a babysitter (her parents told her flat out that they would not watch the kids and she wouldn't pay to leave them with a hired sitter) but leaving her kids from her first marriage with their Dad. She went to Australia, Great Britain, France, Canada, in addition to traveling across the US. She had received a large payout of money at one point and used it to finance her "lifestyle". Limos to the airport, only the best restaurants, hotels, etc.
Needless to say, her kids from her first marriage were extremely resentful of their younger half siblings and complained loudly to their Dad that it wasn't fair that Mom took the other kids on the trips with her all the time and not them. She finally caved and took them on a few trips to places she enjoyed going to, but by then she'd spent through most of her money and eventually - you guessed it - lost her lavish lifestyle to bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, the older kids still consider the younger half siblings pests and spoiled. Mind you, these older children were given money, toys, clothes, electronics, etc. from both their maternal grandparents, Dad, and (to be fair) their Mom as well. They never wanted for anything.
What I'd like Kate to bear in mind is that letting the twins do things simply because they're a) older and b) easier to manage (trick or treating, trips alone with Mom, etc.) and c) it's cheaper is going to create resentment and anger in her younger children, if it hasn't already.

She has no pride. Anyone who grifts and begs so much has no pride. I think that she would let everyone know she's hurting for money. Didn't she cry poverty awhile back? She couldn't decide whether to play the role of a single mom in deep financial trouble (everything is so expensive), or to continue to stay relevant as a wealthy celebrity (new cars, trips, her swimming pool, her leather sofa). She was poor one day and wealthy the next.
Would it surprise anyone if she started grifting for school tuition, hoping someone helps her out - you know, education is so important, I'm a single mom, school is so expensive, etc. etc., and magically, the sheeple will take up a collection for tuition money.

That does sound like a high expectation. I am sure some of her most prominent fans will expect to be invited to Kate's cabin for 10 p.m. wine and sushi. Some of the second class-ers are probably hoping for movie, popcorn and SoBe water with Kate in her cabin on Friday night. I can't see it happening, but I fear this is their dream and their point in booking this cruise. THAT would be "worth it" to them. Anything less will probably be seen as a rip-off and a huge snub.

Not that I want to give Kate any credit, but it seems like the treatment between the twins and the tups is kind of evening out now since the tups got so much special treatment during the show (extra birthday parties and the like). I think it's nice for the twins to get some special time with their mom, I just wish it wasn't another "working vacation" like on this cruise. I also wish she gave her sons some special time too. And one on one time for those kids!
You only have to look at all of Kate's encouraging tweets to the desperate fans to know this is a scam. She is building up an incredible fantasy of the relationships they will have on this cruise we all know Kate won't stand for in real life. If she does indeed invite them up for 10pm sushi and sake and shouts to them across the hall and sunbathes together with them, prove me wrong. The sheeple fancy themselves Jack on Titanic, invited up to dinner with a much less classier Kate (Gosselin, not Winslet) and all the other beautiful rich snobs. There they'll form a beautiful friendship with her, write each other notes about meeting up with each other later, draw each other wearing expensive diamonds, and die in each other's arms.
They don't know that they will be rowing with the other slaves in steerage, perhaps allowed up for air for a brief time, and that that movie is just a movie, it never really happened!
For some the horse craziness never ends. lol I don't have any to ride anymore (my own or friends) but am still as crazy at 50+ yrs old.
As for Kate getting them a horse I just cringe thinking about it. As much as I love horses I know anything can happen with regards to safety. Kate knows nothing and those kids could get seriously hurt even on a super tame horse. Plus a horse's health can be ruined just from things like overeating grains or grass. I can't see Kate taking the time to learn and watch things like that. She wouldnt be able to take time out of her selfish life to do it.
Actually I had to cringe about the kids just riding at a friend or neighbor's. It's very dangerous. Close friend of the family, my sister's very close friend, died at 19 years old at one of the many Northeast horse farms. She was majoring in animal husbandry and bent down to look at a horse's leg. For whatever reason, the horse got spooked and kicked straight on her neck. He broke her neck and she died. It was AWFUL and a stark reminder these animals are big, they are dangerous though not usually malicious, and you have to be so, so careful.
I would urge people not to let their kids just ride wherever until the child has gotten extensive lessons not just in how to ride, but safety. By all means these kids should get LESSONS if they want to ride horses. Safety training is built right into the lessons. Fork over some of that cruise money Kate and get these kids what they want.

During the seven days, there are only three days with scheduled activities with Kate. She makes it sound like they will all be sleeping in the same hallway and be next door neighbors. This impression is wrong. Kate will probably be off in a different part of the ship. I dont blame Kate for this. I would not want to have fans knocking on my door while I try to sleep or get quiet time. The problem is that she is making it sound like she will be with her fans every moment of the cruse. Kate will NOT be with them every moment. She will be with them during the scheduled times. There will be no private moments during that scheduled time.
My biggest scam alarm right now is the fuel surcharge fee. The website for this cruse says that there will be a fuel surcharge of $70/day. THe RC website says
For US reservations, Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to impose a fuel supplement on all guests if the price of West Texas Intermediate fuel exceeds $65.00 USD per barrel. The fuel supplement for 1st and 2nd guests would be no more than $10 USD per guest per day, to a maximum of $140 USD per cruise; and for additional guests would be no more than $5 USD per person per day, to a maximum of $70 USD per cruise.
Either the kate cruse website is wrong or Alice Travel is trying to get more money off the fans by jacking up the fuel surcharge fee.
I worry about any of the kids going on the cruse. It would be a great experience for the twins to go on. I just worry about their safety. I hope they have a chaperone (ie body guard/ nanny) with them at all times on the cruse. They deserve to have some time to relax and enjoy the kids entertainment on the ship.
I am sure Kart looks at herself in the mirror often and long, and I am also sure she has never seen the comparison to Mrs Wiggins. That is hilarious! What a chuckle that gave me, thanks!

Oh, one more thing. Shortly after he started going at it with the haters a few weeks ago, Paige tweeted something random from school. She didn't even tweet Khate. Four people have publicly stated they are going. The majority of fans flat out said they can't afford it, good for them for saying so. And that should have been the end of it. There's nothing incredibly patronizing about it, when these people have demonstrated over and over again that they ARE too stupid to think for themselves. I remember one sheeple who tweeted Kate from a parking lot, asking if she could get electrocuted in a thunderstorm, or what she should do because she was constipated, and asked advice because her roommate was in the bathroom and she couldn't get in there when nature called; or the one whose baby was crying for two days and she wanted to know if she should put her on the washing machine; or the one who stood outside like an idiot, waving a poster in the parking lot; or the one who wanted to know why she could never balance her checking account and could Kate take a look at it. Yes, these people can really think for themselves! Some of them are so dumb that they could throw themselves on the ground and miss.
Their adoration of Kate, and the possibility of becoming her best friend, clouds their ability to make a wise decision on how to spend their money. Collectively, their IQ is so low that they trip over it, and that's being generous.

As far as I know, no one here has tried to personally contact anyone going or considering going, not even via Twitter. No one is trying to contact Kate or the travel agency to stop Kate. I heard one person asked the travel agency how much interest they are getting, but I didn't hear that person or anyone trying to stop them from putting this event on.
What we are doing, is talking about problems we see with this cruise, things we have seen misrepresented based on our own cruise experience or experience of those we know well, the bait and switch as to whether the kids will be there or not for the sheeple to feast their eyes on, the gross underestimating of the true cost of this trip that is going on plus all the hidden fees, discussing Kate's efforts to promote this via her tweets, including making it seem like everyone who goes will be able to cuddle up with her at the slumber party, her interactions with clearly unstable fans, her insensitive responses to those who can't afford it (implying you can't make memories without money, what an insult to the mediocre who give their families wonderful memories every day without a lot of money), and on and on. We're talking about it, period, and nothing more.
I will not live in a place where people can't speak their minds about things that they find shady. Especially things incredibly shady and borderline misrepresentative if not outright fraudulent, like this is.

Also, it really, really bugs me that Kate is outright preying on the disabled, the medically fragile, the feeble minded, the obsessive personalities, and the teenagers. In fact it's rare you see her not talking to someone that isn't in one of those categories or more than one. So many of them have fully owned these, we know this is what they are. Well, not the feeble minded one but any sheeple that tweets Kate to ask her a question about their sick child is stupid.
WTF. These are the very people we as a society should look out for the most. I'm sure many of us have someone close to us who is in that category, I know I do, and I know if I knew about a celeb was leading them on like Kate is and conning them out of what little money they have, I'd have some real ass kicking to do.
You know it's strange the way I've sort of come around on the fans. At first I thought they were a real vile bunch, and really wanted nothing to do with them. But now I feel sorry for them and protective of them, and I want Kate to back off from them. Any fan who has been with her this long has something seriously wrong with her upstairs--so back off, Kate. At the end of the day, they are people. I don't really feel that sort of disgust with them anymore, I feel more like I'm watching someone be bullied and just want to see that bully carted off and away from them.
Anonymous, since you've taken the time to read our thoughts on how this cruise will go, please share with us what you think the cruise will be like.
Every single day adults talk to each other about concerns they have. This is no different than if two women have a conversation at the water cooler about a cruise, and woman A tells woman B, who is dying to go on a cruise, about her bad experience, the hidden fees, getting sick, the questionable safety record, the bad food.
Woman A is not trying to be "superior." Woman A is sharing information and hopefully prevent woman B from having a bad time, or at least if she does go, does her research carefully.
This is how adults communicate and help each other. Just because you are sharing concerns with someone doesn't mean you're trying to tell the other person you're superior. Just because you have information someone else doesn't doesn't mean you're better. And just because someone is disabled, or young, or stupid, doesn't mean you are superior because you're not. Gosh I can't imagine going through life and thinking that every adult that ever shares information with me and help me is trying to be superior.
I think perhaps the delusional fancy the cruise will look something like this:

Brunch the next morning after cuddling up to sleep in Kate's bed. Somewhere along the way, Kate will tell Lights Out Man to suck it, we're on her schedule now.

That's the general rule that I ask people to follow but don't really have time to enforce.
This is a good reminder that I don't want this to be a playground to bash tweeties. I have no problem talking about what is said as it relates to Kate, the cruise, confusion and delusions about how the cruise will be, nor do I have a problem pointing out potential dangers to Kate or the kids. Sorry if I broke any rules, Admin. Of course, I'd prefer the admonition to have come from YOU as the owner of this blog. Nice to see that "Sheep Travel Inc." is so concerned and in need of a clarification of the rules. Too bad she's not concerned about the repeated violation of Rule #1 tonight by "Anonymous". It's the FIRST rule, but this person is not only repeatedly posting comments, but also being engaged. Odd.
In any event, I wasn't posting tweets to "bash" the tweeter. I simply posted some of his tweets to other women on TV (as well as many of his tweets to Khate) just from these last few weeks to show what he's tweeting other women, including Khate. It does illustrate what kind of person this guy is. Twitter is a VERY public forum, and that is why I don't bother removing their names that THEY have chosen for Twitter.
Most troubling are his tweets that she's hot, sexy, and must have a "yummy, creamie thong" (eww) while also tweeting about how much he loves her kids and misses watching them on television. That is certainly not someone she should be tweeting with or encouraging. However, now that he called her "hot", he got her attention and I'm sure, based on her past behavior, she will start replying to more of his tweets as she did today.

The first post that started this called people "petty." Then it specifically, and snottily, accused Dallas Lady of being "the arbiter of whether a vacation is worth it." This blog has had a very friendly tone all day, which I guess pissed someone off. This post was nasty from the beginning, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and let it through. And, it incidentally targeted the same nice person DL as was attacked last time this game was played. Hmmm indeed.
The truth is, right out of the gate it was insulting, and insulting specific posters. That is not a friendly "calm" debate, that is a troll who wants to get everyone worked up, then turn around and cry censorship when I finally get sense enough to stop it. This woman clearly has no idea of how a "normal" person functions in society, and since her show has been cancelled, still expects others to cater to her needs. 49- Layla- Great Post! Missed it while I was posting. The alleged Haters, "for the most part," are more concerned about the kids and Kate's lack of mothering since day one. She used everyone to try to make herself a "star," forgetting about her kids along the way. And not much has changed. It may have become even worse, with the cancellation of the show, if possible.

To Done & Done: this equaling out of the twins & tups, is not a real thing. In a childs mind, the tups are still treated special and the twins are not. They did start showing K8 on thusday on Discovery, I was watching something else when it came on. before I could change channel, It was the tups b-day in florida, and happen to catch one of the twins, going off on why the tups get special treatment and another party. Taking the twins on the cruise(if it happens), will only cause more jealousy among the 8. Kate has never taught the kids that, for example: this is the twins b-birthday only, you tups do not get a present or special treatment. Same goes for the tups, all 8 of you get 2 b-days and that is it. One from me and one from your dad. But not Kate, 3 b-days for the tups. One from mom w/twins, one from dad w/twins and one w/school mates & twins. Yes it does sound like the twins are getting 3 b-days plus their own b-days, which totals 6 b-days, celebrated. These children don't know when their b-day is and when the tups b-day is(perhaps Jon makes that difference happen, cause Kate does not, she lumps all 8 together). Children always are comparing things, parents love etc. When TLC was in the pic, it was mostly about the tups, cause twins are more common. Take notice on every year it was the tups birthday bash, the twins, a little party, if they even showed it. You don't think, those twins got jealous, they did and probably still do. And this is all Kate doing.

That's why she had that tweet about sending the info about the nearby 5K to her "manager". Unless she's getting something out of it (including publicity), she's not interested.
Wouldn't a few 5k's be great training for her next big marathon? Seems to me it's a training exercise and as an added bonus, charitable. Most running programs have 5k's and 10k's built in. Not really for the distance but just for the race feel--to practice run in huge crowds, the noise and stress and anticipation of it and working through that.
Not a thankful, charitable bone in Kate's body, in spite of all the "charity" she has received over the years.

Interesting concept, although I do think that she's crazy. If her plan is to get Kate's attention, then yes, she is beating Kate at her own game, but the bottom line is that with all of her insane tweets and antics, the end result will be that if she does go on the cruise, Kate most certainly will avoid her and will not interact with her at all...because Kate KNOWS that she is nuts.
Great point that most runners/marathoners run local races for the practice/experience, WITHOUT GETTING PAID. But in Kate's warped narcisstic mind- it is not worth doing unless she gets paid. She really is a twisted person, who gives nothing back to anyone.

She's deliberately fostering sibling rivalry and setting these kids up for competition among themselves. In a way this may be smart on Kate's part. I can answer some of the running questions. Yes, local 5k and 10k races are an important part of training for a marathon. It's not about the distance, it's about getting the feel of a race. You have to learn to deal with the crowds of other racers and pace yourself when you want to just take off at the beginning.
I don't understand her running and have called her on some of her inconsistencies before on this blog. The main one is her times. She claimed at one point to run an 8-something minute mile. We've seen video of her running. That's ridiculous and her RnR Vegas time backs me up. Anyway, I won't get into all of that again. I just don't get why she has to make stuff up. She is always proven to be a liar and it makes her look so much worse than if she'd just admit she's a newbie at something or struggles like everyone else.
I wish all of Kate's fans could go on this trip. I'm so interested to see what their thoughts of her are once they get back.
I don't think it's going to be the '24/7 spend time with Kate fest' that most of them are envisioning.

I know there are others here who do that, too, so they may have a similar problem. I have no problem posting under my actual name on the rest of our computers.

The whole Deenfamily is going and participating, which means people will have one-on-one time with several of them. There are about twice as many activities included. Onboard Deen Family Olympics? Who wouldn't rather do that than yet another (yawn) Q&A with Kate? The route is Eastern Carbbean (much better than Kate's route), and the prices start at $1578. And the Sheeple don't think they're being ripped off? Just shows how greedy Kate is.

1. If she trains with Rod Dixon (assuming he does this), she can do it over the internet. He will send her her schedule and she'll report her results as she does it. She doesn't have to go to LA to train. I had a running trainer at one point, and that's how we did it. It's cheaper too. :)
2. Anyone who owns horses and lets kids with no riding experience ride their horses better have their attorney on retainer.

It seems that Milo is very much like Kate in that she loves attention - doesn't matter if it's negative, as long as she's the center of it.
My mental image of Milo is that she feels miserable, spends most of her time in bed or in a chair, is bored out of her mind, and has turned to Twitter as her counselor and playmate. She tweets just for something to do, and wants tweets returned so she will have something to read, something to reply to so her day will go faster. It doesn't have to be of substance, it just has to be something that makes her know there is someone out there beyond her 4 walls.
She may GO nuts if she didn't have something to occupy her mind.
Some people play solitaire. Some read books. Some watch TV. Some play video games. Some write in journals. Some chat on the phone. Milo may tweet. Whatever passes the time and
lets her know somebody knows she's there.
And the more she tweets with particular people, the bolder she becomes in what she will talk about. By now, she has probably shared shoe sizes and most embarrassing moments with Kate and other KateFans.
I agree about the training online and I hope she does it. I have a running coach in my area but most of my "training" comes in email form. She sends me my weekly schedule with very detailed paces and expectations. I report every detail about the runs and anything else that pertains to it-such as nutrition and health matters. An online coach can be a valuable tool and I hope she takes that opportunity to learn from someone who knows what they're doing.

When I was in Pulmonary Rehabilitation I would put the TV in front of my treadmill on The Food Network. At noon, Paula Deen came on. At noon, one of the other patients came. She would climb on the treadmill, look at the TV and turn to me.
"How many sticks of butter did she start with on this recipe?" was the first thing out of her mouth every single time. We would then count out the amount of other things like oil, mayonnaise, cheese, etc. that got added as Paula cooked.

My husband and I try to eat healthy, so Paula Deen's recipes are somewhat off limits. Her buffets and restaurants are delicious places to eat for a treat! We did, however, get hooked on her coffee brand. I have to order from the internet unless I am near one of her "stores" in a Harrah's casino. I recommend Savannah Seduction as the BEST coffee we have ever poured into a steamy mug.
Paula Deen was the Rose Bowl Parade grand marshal last year. She went over the top beyond with it and interacting with everyone. She was hardly just a face in the car waving.

TLC, please, for the love of God, get an independent, independently licensed, set teacher on set who has been tested and certified in child labor laws and protection of children on set. EVEN if no laws are being broken, a set teacher has the power to stop production if things are unsafe for the child.

OMG, Kate's super-saving tips for dogs makes my head explode. I wonder if her parents bitched and moaned about how much it cost to raise her. If he came to my room and demanded my laptop, I'd put him in the bathroom and make him listen to the violent flushing of the toilet all night. You've never heard a toilet flush until you heard one on a cruise ship. In fact, my kids would count down before the flush - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Aim and Fire!
Handwritten notes would always be an option, to be transcribed later...!!!
Regarding Cruise:
Having been an impulsive young adult, and having raised 3 children that are now 27-30 years old, I have to say that some lessons have to be learned the hard way. When one of my kids made a financial mistake, I talked to them about the lessons learned--I always called these mistakes "tuition". The experience of being taken advantage of at an early age, taught them that the only one looking out for them was themselves. As a parent, it was my hope that hard lessons learned would prevent them from making a later, bigger mistake--ala Bernie Madoff, overpriced cruises, etc.
Fortunately, when I was a young adult, I didn't have access to credit cards, the way my kids do-- the banking industry has been targeting them for years. My kids are constantly getting pre-approved offers for credit cards. One of my son's friends was able to qualify for the purchase of a brand new car, with huge monthly payments, on a minimum wage salary. Since he 'knew' that he was a safe driver, he didn't take out collision insurance. I am sure that you all can guess how that ended! I can only imagine the kind of trouble I could have gotten myself into if I could have, on an impulse, followed my favorite bands around the world.
The Kate cruise will be a particularly bitter lesson because not only will the sheeple be out the money, possible saddled with debt and unable to afford other things --like college tuition -- they will have been betrayed by a role model and 'friend'. Just like Bernie Madoff's victims.
Oh--and by the way, I still have $100.00 for anyone that admin sanctions to go as an undercover agent of this blog!

So I just took a look at her pet tips blog on CC (only because I am a dog person and am the go-to person for all my friends when it comes to dog stuff), and she reveals nothing of interest. In fact, she mostly discredits what has been said here...like how Shoka is brought in even when the teensiest drops of rain fall...whatever.
In fact, she claims that Shoka, whom they got in 2008, is her TWO year old GSD...guess that must be Kate-math because in REAL math the dog would be 4, no?
It's very simple. If it's going to bother you every day how much dog food costs, and GOOD food and not the crap that's just rice is not the cheapest stuff around, then don't get a dog. Just don't get a dog. Spare the dog lovers the agony of watching someone who clearly doesn't even like dogs much less love them, own a dog. I saw a coupon for my dog's food once in two years, and I was looking diligently even on their web site. Oh well, that's part of having a dog.

AA is really the worst. It's not so much the filming but how that dance teacher treats them and why those kids aren't pulled out of that class so fast (obviously, fame whore mothers).
I saw they were doing a meet and greet autograph session with the dance class featured at the studio. WTF! They are children. They shouldn't be made to sit there for autographs, they should be in school, or sports, or playing with friends. It's one thing for an adult to do a signing but KIDS??? Also that can't be good for a kids' ego, I've heard some of those kids are real divas at like 12 years old. Incredibly concerning that whole thing.

Coupons and dog food generally do not go together. Not if you're buying high end brands. But, there's good news. Generally you can get on a buying program as I have, and get a free case of food for every 12 you buy.
I buy 2 different types of canned and dry food (darn picky Bichon!) and last year, it just so happened that I was up for 2 free cases of canned food. I thought I won the lottery ;-)
If pet owners ever have a month they're really struggling, they can ask their vet if they have any food to spare. I have heard most vets will happily offer a bag of food. When people's animals pass away, they will often bring whatever food they had left to the vet. As long as the animal was free of illness and the food is good, it's perfectly safe to pay it forward. We did this with our cat and the vet donated it on. But I agree, you don't see coupons for high end dog food, like, ever. Purina is in the paper every Sunday and that's about it.

I get coupons for the litter I use in my hedgehogs litter box. They come in the bag. You have to buy 10 bags and save all of the little coupons in order to get a free bag of litter. It takes about a year for me to get free litter for her. I keep them with the rest of my coupons. I cant find coupons for her food but thats ok. She is a small thing and I only buy food once every few months.

While reading the tweets from the sheeple wanting to go on this cruise to meet Kate, it made me think of several years ago a group of us middle aged fans got together to go see a group of "has beens" that we had idolized as youngsters. For this, I had to travel cross country to LA. I was so so so excited to meet one band member in particular who was so totally my idol! They knew we were coming, and when we arrived at the small venue where they were performing, we got to meet them.
UGH! I should have kept my fantasy and saved my money! I was so very disillusioned by the man standing before me. He was rude and arrogant and it completely destroyed my fantasy.

Is Kate suggesting buy dog food that's on sale? I can't switch dog food brands...gives both my dogs diarrhea. If you have to switch you're supposed to do it slowly; mix some new in with the old a little at a time. Can't do that if you're buying different food on sale.

In addition, Kate fosters favoritism and jealousy among the kids, by insisting on birth order always, by emphasizing that Cara is the "oldest" despite knowing that it upsets Mady when she does this, by blatantly favoring the girls over the boys. She's deliberately fostering sibling rivalry and setting these kids up for competition among themselves. In a way this may be smart on Kate's part. If she creates enough division among the kids, they won't all band together against her when they get older.

I was trying to think back over time and I thought I heard the actual contract between Kate and TLC was suppose to stop at the end of this month. I have always wondered if TLC made some kind of a deal with her when they decided to stop filming.
I always had the feeling that they might have promised to pay for certain things until the actual contract ends such as Steve's salary and pay for the PR firm to help her try to get another job. I don't think they completely cut her off.
That may also explain the real estate change in eliminating the atty's name. Perhaps TLC was helping out in some way with the mortgage which is now ending. It just seems a coincidence that it happened this month.
Might also explain her desperation to get people for this cruise.

Reading Resident, Your story reminds me of the years that I worked for a major airline (yikes, about 18 years ago...I'm getting old!). It was funny to compare the real celebrities with what I considered the "minor league" celebs. I almost always found that the biggest celebs were the nicest, while the minor leagues were so arrogant!
One of my favorite memories is the time that some pretty rough-looking characters came to my line to check in. I thought, from the looks of them, that they'd be difficult, but they were so polite and courteous. "Yes, ma'am", "No, ma'am", "Thank you very much". Then when they left for the gate, I turned around and the ticketing agent next to me was hyperventillating and could hardly speak. Finally he gasped out, "Green Day! That was Green Day!". I, of course, was clueless, but now when I hear their music, I still think of those nice young men with the crazy hair and ripped-up black clothes who went through my line and were just so nice and polite. Their mothers should be proud.

Layla, I love hearing that about Green Day! Last year, we were blessed to see Billy Joe (lead singer) in American Idiot on Broadway (never saw my husband smile so big in my life) and he came out to sign autographs outside the stage door afterward. Staff of the theater said he did that every night. We sort of watched for a minute and took off. I was at a theater a couple weeks ago, waiting to get in and Hugh Jackman's show is across the street and he comes out before the show to sign autographs too. Maybe the energy pumps him up - you should have heard the squeals! Very gracious way to acknowledge the fans who have paid to be there.
Mim 141 - naming the dogs was addressed in the episode when they picked them out. The kids squeal with delight when Kate says they are going to get pets for Christmas. She rudely shuts down any suggestions for names and announces she has already picked monikers. I think later in the chair interview she explains that she could live with some childish name for the duration of the pet's life. She ridicules the names she thinks the kids might have chosen. I may have lost details -- this is from memory -- but, I clearly remember being appalled with her behavior at the time.
Also, with regard to Kate naming the dogs and not letting the kids do it, wasn't that also when they thanked their parents and she said, "You're not welcome" in that monotone of hers? For all the hoopla she makes about them thanking her and thanking her for keeping them alive, she treated them like crap on that day, and maybe others too. Sad.

When our bulldog was a puppy the vet told us that if we wanted to shorten his life we should base his diet on whether or not we had a coupon for the food. If we wanted him around and healthy for a long time we'd base his diet on what was best for him. I've never seen coupons for his food.

My sibs and I had no imagination when it came to naming pets. We had a litany of literal names -- Brownie, Lassie, Yellow One, etc. But the winner was Old-Gray-Mother-Cat. Had to say that one fast..like just one word. Our parents may have laughed, but they never took over the task of selecting names for our many pets.
The puppy episode was like a "worst of" episode all in itself. Bad behavior on display.

Who was the biggest pain? That's a toss-up between John Cafferty (and the Beaver Brown Band) and Lex Luger/The Narcissist (WWF Guy). Kate needs to pay attention, because if she acts like a b****, people will remember for decades (or longer) and will share the stories about her behavior long after she has forgotten.

We have met quite a few celebs because of my husband's work, mostly musicians, and most are pretty nice. He hired The Cult last summer and they were all so nice - except for the young replacement guitarist. I felt like saying, "Dude, you haven't earned the right to be so pissy. Look around, these guys have been at it for decades, you should be on your knees thanking them for having you." He hired Cheap Trick and they were ALL awesome! Presidents of the United States of America - same thing. Met two guys from Heart last year - wonderful guys. Seems rare to have a yucky musician. But think about what reality TV breeds and thrives on: narcissism in people who have no talent and nothing to offer besides their behavior.

You are absolutely right. From the very beginning, TLC made numerous high dollar improvements to the E-Town house. Provided J&K with every kind of service you could imagine (nannies, maids, landscaping, chef service) sent them on once in a lifetime trips, they probably paid for the new kitchen in the Konpound and did pay for the poolside redo and new slide. Those are the things we know about. There are surely many more.
When TLC asked Kate to do a solo show where she's put in uncomfortable situations, her reply should have been "where's the trash truck?" But no. As she has done for years to everyone she comes in contact with, she bit the hand that fed her. Despite how we feel about TLC, they were pretty damn good to her. They could see the writing on the wall and knew that "K+8 going on expensive vacation after expensive vacation" was going to tank. And it did. A show where she did mediocre and dirty jobs would have been a smash, I'm sure of it. She could have struck gold, but her snottyness and arrogance prevented her from getting past the pilot.
And here she is, right back to 2004 where she's again begging for handouts from people who have waaaaay less than she.
They were already in the throes of an impending divorce at that time. She seemed to know the breeder well and Jon not so much. That was the first time I can say I ever saw be as flirty as she can be as she will always be androgenous to me, I don't care how many say she is a hot momma.
I felt then like she was taking 2 because they were a good bloodline and would have been expensive but probably free for her. She must have really been impressed with the real Shoka because I thought it was a dumb name. But then again we let our kids name a pit bull puppy, and we ended up with this big pit bull named you guessed it, Fluffy.

Maybe they're insecure because they aren't really anything special. My son is in "the business", but in a very minor way because we want to protect his privacy at all costs. He gets to meet lots of people. I have been shocked by how some will act, even in front of a child. Ahem, especially a certain woman interviewer on a hugely successful morning talk show. You know who you are, KLG.
But, like the rest of us, they have to get up in the morning and decide whether to be pleasant or b****y on any given day. The difference is, nobody is majorly affected if one of us is feeling a bit grumpy on any given day. For them, they could really crush someone who idolizes them and that disappointment doesn't go away easily. Especially when they don't have repeated exposure to that particular celeb. That first impression lingers. I think many of them have that figured out and they make it a point to be courteous as much as possible, to encourage the fans--the people who ultimately determine whether they'll be successful or not--to like them.
Kate seems determined to figuratively give the finger to all but her (very) few supporters. That's why she can't get that talk show she wants so badly. She's destroying her chances to get what she so desperately wants, and yet she just can't seem to help herself. And then she's even more frustrated...it's a vicious circle that she's trapped in.
I always dream about winning a lottery. I would go blog at the cruise for you if I did win in time altho I will probably never win :( If I was rich enough I could always take a decent cruise another time after suffering on hers. I would take the punishment for the rest of us.

It is not so much that they don't want to bad mouth Kate as they don't want to admit to us that they were wrong and they don't want to look like the idiots we know they are. If anything it will have to be an unheard of fan who opens up on the internet somewhere and tells all (with pictures and video hopefully).
Layla, you are absolutely right. It IS a choice. And first impressions DO linger, especially if that's their only exposure. That's why Kate's personality will ultimately be her downfall. She allowed that 'first impression' to be broadcast far and wide with no repercussions until she got cancelled. There's no going back now. If there was, she'd be trying to get her name/face out there with reputable charities (and not just keeping her half-naked Red Cross front and center on her blog). If she was a nice person, opportunities would be coming to her. But they're just not.
Granted, all the people we've met have had their glory days and are now just enjoying the residuals of their early success, but they do seem to appreciate it. Our friend is a music promoter (another reason we get to meet folks) - he can tell some funny stories but most people who have been in the business a long time are just genuinely nice to work with, according to him. Which is why, decades later, they are still booking gigs. Kate will not be able to say that, ever.
She created the vicious circle you described, quite accurately too, and she will have to live inside of it.

The funny thing is, I saw on one fan site that the Sheeple think Kate is being very choosy about doing another show, and they think that "after what TLC did to her", she must have a long list of conditions that have to be met before she'll agree to another show. Oh, silly, silly Sheeple. She'll jump on anything--ANYTHING--to get herself back on TV. I think she became so difficult that TLC gave up on her in complete frustration. There were those episodes where they showed just how impossible she was to deal with (Alaska and the RV Episodes). C'mon, we could see from the very beginning that she was majorly p***ed about having to take an RV trip. She was, I'm sure, thinking that TLC should be renting them a $10,000 a beach house, not stuffing them in RVs to drive across the country. That was, obviously, just sooo beneath her. I laughed out loud at her huffing and puffing and making such a big deal out of putting the bags in the cargo area of the RV, then pretending she (boo-hoo) hurt her finger. And then she turned to the camera crew and told them that they need to quit acting like they're filming a TV show and get some work done here. (????!!!!) My jaw just dropped. They are a camera crew, and they WERE filming a TV show, but she just saw them as more people who should be waiting on her. That moment, more than any other I can think of, showed the world just who the real Kate was. Even people who are around to do their job are just there to be her servants, in her mind. And then when the kids were talking about having servants--well, we know where THAT came from, don't we?
What's going to happen when she runs out of money for servants to take care of the house for her? Is SHE going to lower herself to cleaning it? There are--what--six bathrooms in the house? That's a lot of toilets to scrub. And speaking as a mother with several sons, boys don't always have the best aim, so it's not the most pleasant job. I picture her curled in the fetal posotion on the bathroom floor, crying and wondering what happened to her life.

Okay, I will admit that someone pulled a fast one on Kathie Lee that day. She was given some information that was going to be presented in a "contest" format, and the person asking the questions switched the cards before starting, and that threw her off. I didn't realize what happened myself until after watching it a couple times (they sent a link of the segment to us after the show) and seeing what he did. But, that made it a fair contest (which she lost). She was NOT happy. We had to hide in the green room until she was gone.
Really? Wowee! For all the endless babble about her own kids back in the day, that sure is surprising. She was in Seattle during the run of her show and our hairstylist was her stylist while here and he LOVED her! I mean, he went on and on and on......

I still cry whe I watch Susan Boyle audition for Britain's Got Talent. Now, Susan is a good example of how to be enormously talented and famous and still be humble and human at the same time. Someone posted on here awhile back that Susan still lived on her old house, and when asked why she didn't buy a castle, she said it would be drafty. I just wanna hug her!

While reading the tweets from the sheeple wanting to go on this cruise to meet Kate, it made me think of several years ago a group of us middle aged fans got together to go see a group of "has beens" that we had idolized as youngsters. For this, I had to travel cross country to LA. I was so so so excited to meet one band member in particular who was so totally my idol! They knew we were coming, and when we arrived at the small venue where they were performing, we got to meet them.
UGH! I should have kept my fantasy and saved my money! I was so very disillusioned by the man standing before me. He was rude and arrogant and it completely destroyed my fantasy.

A similiar situation happened to me. Except my trip was to see a famous band from a few decades ago, at a small venue. The trip was expensive- and very spur of the moment. In retrospect, a rather silly decision.
I discovered that the subject of my adoration was secretly a fall down alcoholic who needed a "babysitter" to make sure he got to the gigs on time, and semi-coherent. Sadly, due to his various addictions, and bad life choices, he lost it all- fame & fortune, GONE.
He was in dire straits, unlike Katie Irene.
At the end of the evening, he propositioned all of us married ladies separately.
Reality kicked in full blast.
He was still an amazing guitar player- just very human. Not at all that demigod that I unfairly made him out to be in my little old head.
Big let down.
Expensive trip.
Never again.
As for the sheeple that plan to go on Katie Irene's fleecing cruise, all I will say is that
reality will kick them in the butt.
I'm going to be right here, drinking my ice tea & watching (reading) that fiasco unfold.

Pink Straight Jacket: I believe this happens far more than folks would like to admit...you put these people on a pedestal when in reality they are nothing more than mere humans. Better to admire from afar than have your bubble burst. Doubt that any of the cruiser fans would ever admit their disappointment though.

After reading all the stories of people meeting their long-ago idols, I'd be afraid to go see mine! Back in the 80s, I was a total Duran Duran girl. John Taylor was my dream guy. I've seen recent pics, though, and he hasn't aged very gracefully. I've heard that he's not the nicest guy, either. Oh, well, I guess maybe we aren't supposed to see them at their worst. Ruins the fantasy. I'll just look up old videos on YouTube and remember him as he was.

PJ Momma...thank you. If you do look for Jeff Buckley on YouTube make sure you hear the song from the album. (I believe JB committed suicide long before there was a YouTube.) It is the "deeper" version. West Wing was my favorite, sit still and watch TV show. In one of the later seasons during a scene where a semi-regular is shot and killed Hallelujah was the background with no other dialogue. I just had to hear the entire song and learn more about it. I am never surprised how powerful of an effect it has on others.

Maybe a small group is the best thing for this cruise. Just enough people to get Kate a free trip, but a small enough group that she can spend on-on-one time with them all. Sure, she won't make loads of money like she's hoping to do, but maybe this way they won't all be disappointed by the lack of time spent with her. Or they could end up disappointed that they do have to spend time with her. Can't wait to see how this all shakes out.
Friends of mine are close friends with Cheap Trick. They said the same thing, they are awesome guys. When that stage collapsed at their show everyone's hearts were in their throats over here.
I am not surprised that many musicians in REAL bands, as in not the Britney's, are down to earth.
Think about it, almost all bands have talent, almost all of them had to scrape themselves up to the top from the garage. Almost all of them have to write their own music, play their own instruments, and come up with their own material. People who are shallow and untalented are not likely to be able to stick with that lifestyle until they hit it big.
Bands are unlike celebrity, where sometimes you just fall into it because you have a pretty face, or you know someone, or you do something outlandish, or have a reality show randomly thrown at you because you had eight kids.

My dog wears a sweater when it's cold and doesn't wear anything when it's not. I find Kate's advice not to be dog outfits because it's a waste of money pretty ignorant. Not everyone who buys a sweater for their dog is doing it because they look cute and goofy in little outfits. Some dogs NEED a sweater to keep warm in the colder months. They will shiver and be uncomfortable if you don't. The real frail dogs like teacup chihuahuas and terriers can easily succumb to overexposure.
Of course it's not necessary to buy an entire wardrobe, but one or two sweaters are something you need to invest in if you have a dog like that. Okay, he DOES look adorable in his sweater, but that's not the reason I bought it.

They all look adorable, but the little guy does have many more clothing choices. You should see him in his pajamas.

Aw Tucker. When I put my dog's sweater on in the morning on cooler days, he sits there and lifts up his little paws and puts them in the sleeves like a little kid. It's adorable.
He seems happiest when he's in a nice cozy sweater cuddled UNDER a blanket between us. These guys love to be toasty warm.
I'm not sure why people are upset that someone makes the lifestyle choice not to eat beef and feels they are obligated not to do that just because they grew up in cattle country. There are good reasons not to eat beef, for health reasons and questionable cattle raising/slaughtering practices.
My ancestors for generations were dairy farmers and I grew up surrounded by dairy farms, but I'm not offended if someone decides not to eat/drink dairy for whatever their reasons are.

Well, first off, you're not famous, Admin. Secondly, KD did commercial ads to renounce beef. Had she just made her choice quietly, I'm sure her community would not have felt as betrayed. KD asked people to NOT purchase beef at the height of her fame.
It's not about ME being famous, it's about someone in your community being famous and speaking out about an industry in your community. I'm guessing growing up around the cattle industry gave her a unique perspective on it. She probably thought that gave her credibility to renounce beef.
