My original concern at comment 144 wasn't so much about Kate taking some/all of the kids with her on a working vacation, but more about this specific vacation. I have thought for a long time that Kate underestimates the power of her tweets and twitter account, and forgets or overlooks the fact that she has no idea who she's communicating with. It's bad enough that she 'virtually' discloses the kids' locations/schedules, etc. but to physically put them in the presence of her so-called fans without really knowing who they are is asking for trouble. If I were Jon, I would say no to this one. But I feel like I'm in the minority in this case. Lots of concern about her grifting in general, but little to be said by many about her (and others') kids being involved. She should never, IMO, have been corresponding with minors in the first place.

There is all kinds of documentation that will be needed for a minor child to travel with an adult who does not have legal custody of that minor... especially when leaving the country, which is what this cruise is doing. The documentation will also have to be notarized by BOTH parents of the minor.

lol, Auntie Ann! I poked my head in their room every few minutes just to make sure that they were breathing! Even when they were toddlers in their own beds, I'd do the same thing. I needed to hear that sound. I often think that it is amazing that those babies got through their infancy and toddler stage unscathed, given her parenting skills. Angels (and Jon) certainly were watching over them.
And to whomever said it above: if Jon Gosselin was soliciting to minors for $$ "do it, do it, do it!", or EVEN if he was suggesting he make money off his J&K+8 fans to join him on some half-baked celebrity cruise, the screams of outrage from the Kate crazies would be deafening. I agree with you, Canuck, and there are plenty of other reasons to be concerned if she drags the twins along with her. These ships amount to a floating city of 6,000 people, with no government and no police force.
Does anyone believe she is going to supervise whatever children she brings 24/7 while on a cruise? Or that she'll pay for a nanny to keep them out of harm's way?
Maybe her plan is to trot them out for the 5 minute fan opp, and then lock them in their cabin for the rest of the trip, which is just as bad as leaving them to roam on their own while Kate does whatever it is that Kate wants to do.

I found it odd that Kate forced her babies to sit in their cribs for all those hours. No matter how busy I was, I never did that to my babies.
I presume that the curtains were also drawn to block out the daylight. So those little babies had to sit their cribs for hours (in the semi darkness), waiting for their mother-thing to fetch them.
It was a big mistake allowing cameras to film her "motherly skills", or lack of. Only Jon, family & neighbors knew that Kate was an abusive dolt up until then. Now the rest of us know what a nimrod she is.
I suppose after this cruise, more people will see what an assh*le she is.

Recently, I had an impromptu lunchtime visit from a friend. Using all ingredients that I already had in my kitchen, I was able to whip up the following delicious and very healthy meal very quickly:
Grilled Vege Patties, Tomato Avocado Salad, Baked Sweet Potato Fries and Black and Mahogany Rice.
Recipes:
Grilled Vege Patties - I did not make these, but I always keep Dr. Praeger’s Vege Patties handy for quick meals for myself. My favorite is the Italian patties but I also love the curry and the California burgers (You can find them in your grocer’s organic frozen section) I simply had to grill them!
Tomato Avocado Salad - I diced two ripe avocados, cut 30 cherry tomatoes in half and thinly sliced about 2 tablespoons of red onion into a bowl. Next, I made my grandma’s balsamic dressing and poured it over the mixture and lightly tossed. I covered it tightly with press ‘n seal and left it on the counter to blend its flavors.
Grandmas balsamic dressing -
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar (Colavita is my favorite brand)
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp minced garlic
1 to 1 1/2 packets of Splenda OR 1 tsp sugar
Baked Sweet Potato Fries - Using the two sweet potatoes that were rolling around in the vege drawer of my fridge, I made THE most delicious baked sweet potatoes fries. This was a sudden vision I had when I laid eyes on them looking a bit lonely in that drawer! I had never made them before but decided to attempt it!
Heres the how to: I thinly strip sliced the sweet potatoes to almost a “shoe lace” size. I then put them into a gallon Ziploc bag and added 2 tablespoons finely diced red onion, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, about a tsp of rosemary leaves, two tablespoons of flour, a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. I shook the bag to coat and poured them onto a lightly oiled cookie sheet. I baked them at 400 for about 20 minutes and then turned temp up to 450 for a few minutes to brown and crisp them. Wow – insanely delicious, addicting, and even healthy!
Bonus: I turned my kids into sweet potato fry fans, finally, with this little miracle!
Black and Mahogany Rice - I bought the unseasoned rice blend previously, and simply cooked it in low sodium chicken broth, added Emeril’s Essence (I so love you Emeril, and have been using your blue lid Essence since you introduced me to it when you visited my home and we cooked together, thank you!!), a pinch of lemon pepper seasoning, a pinch of salt and a punch of pepper. Near the end of the 50 minute cooking time, I threw in a small handful of organic dried sweetened cranberries. This simple rice was amazingly flavorful!
My fast lunch turned out to be a very healthy, flavorful, and colorful lunch and it was very much enjoyed along with some good conversation…. A rare treat for a mom who is typically grabbing a quick lunch on the run… If I’m lucky! :)

I believe that the travel agency's cut has been taken out. They are asking one thousand dollars over the amount where the cruise could be booked elsewhere. The agency's cut comes out of the thousand dollars, leaving Kate with about $800. At least that's what I understood from someone who worked at an agency.

It's enough to make me feel sorry for the sheeple, really. Kate will likely start off fine, but eventually the sheeple will annoy her, she'll realize that most people on the boat couldn't care less about who she is, and something will go wrong. How will they like it when she treats them they way she treated Ashley or even Steve? How many of them will continue to blame Jon, editing, low blood sugar, stress, exhaustion, and the kids?

Absolutely. I saw this first-hand on a cruise. We were in the port, waiting in line to board, and the woman at the front of the line was taking her two children with her. This was Holland America. Even though she had custody of the children, she did not have notarized permission from the children's father to take them out of the country. She was hysterical. The cruise line wouldn't budget.
They had to fax permission forms to him to sign. He had to have them notarized and fax them back and she was frantic that it wouldn't get done in time. I don't know how it turned out. I do know that on many cruise lines, if the minor child's parent is deceased, you do have to produce the death certificate.
I'm not sure what the regulations are on Royal Caribbean, but these sheeple need to get all their ducks in order ahead of time so there are no surprises when they go to board. They think that someone under 21 can just buy a ticket and show up. They will be in for quite a shock.
She talks about keeping her sweet potatoes in her refrigerator. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows you NEVER keep potatoes in the fridge. You keep them in a dry, cool place. NOT the fridge with all of the moisture.
And I think that is totally made up about the being her "grandma's dressing". Like others have mentioned, this recipe for dressing is on every Food Network show/site and food magazine.

The ship has a supervised kids' program all day and most go through midnight. There are scavenger hunts on the ship, talent shows, sports events...all kinds of things for them to do in the Voyagers Club. The nanny would most likely be with them. They could escape the sheeple this way, and probably would have a good time. They keep the kids busy all of the time. I've always taken a walkie-talkie along so I can check up on them. If they don't answer, I go looking for them. I'm such a Mother Hen and they get embarrassed when I show up at one of their activities' groups. But hey, I want to know where they are at all times.

I wish there was some way to pound it through the sheeples extremely thick skulls that Kate blew off the meet & greet THEY said they wanted and could afford to have in St. Louis. I doubt it. They could try, but wouldn't get anywhere. Everything is disclosed in the travel documents. If the sheeple are too stupid to read it, or understand it, then they need to find someone who can. Ignorance is no excuse.
What are they going to sue for - because they couldn't have a one-on-one girl chat at the bar? Because Kate didn't show up for a shore excursion? Because the "commemorative" gift was nothing more than a box of organic cereal? Because they didn't know that alcohol wasn't included or a fuel charge would be levied? It's all there in their documents.
There are no guarantees made that each person will have an up close and personal encounter with her. The agency gives a list of events planned, but the disclaimer states that all of it is subject to change.

Oh, yes they do! They let babies and toddlers alone for an entire day with sitters. This always amazes me, how parents could do this, not knowing what was going on with their young children. I've even seen some parents leave the ship on shore excursions, leaving the kids behind on the ship in the activities program.
My kids were over 10 years old before I would even let them participate in such programs, and even then, I knew where they were all the time and who they were with and they were never gone for more than two hours a day. If they have activities by the pool, I'm sitting there watching. If they have a scavenger hunt on the ship, I'm right behind them. It annoys them, but it's the only way I will allow them to do it. If they are in one of the activities rooms doing a craft, I check up on them with the walkie-talkie.
I must say, though, that the supervisors are very good and do take excellent care of these kids. In Disney's program, the security system for signing the kids in and out is very extensive, and every parent is given a beeper and is contacted if there is any concern, even in the enclosed activities room. Strangers just can't come in and take a child. Short of fingerprinting the parents, they do have an excellent security program in place.
I think that what concerns me the most is in case of an emergency on board (fire, hitting an iceberg!) that I would be separated from my children. I keep thinking about the Titanic and Poseidon. For some parents, though, it doesn't seem to bother them.

They need to make sure exactly what the insurance covers. Some insurance policies don't give refunds unless you cancel for medical reasons. They better make sure that they can get a refund if they cancel FOR ANY REASON...meaning if Kate cancels, they can get their money back.
Feh, Kate's probably one of those obnoxious parents who figures that she can leave her kids unsupervised because hey, there's lots of adults here, most adults aren't dangerous, so SOMEONE will keep an eye on 'em.

Wow -- I got a bargain on my cruise. I just paid it off and note that Holland America will only charge $9 per day if the price of oil exceeds ... etc. Also,the expenses of setting up, advertising and administering the cruise as well as charges for all the extras fees for setting up the special event rooms as well as all beverages served, probably special food service as well, the gift/goody bags handed out, craft supplies ($1 per person?, name tags, etc. so Kate isn't getting everything after Alice Travel's %. My guess is it's a flat fee per passenger booked. It's still a big scam.
Has anyone notice that Kate is very silent on the LV trip. And her CC/fitness blog, I don't think Kate wrote that, if she did they edited it to death. It reads too mature for Kate to have wrote.
Canuck: I agree with you...not only is Kate putting her own children in danger potentially, but also minor sheeple, who may bunk in with an adult weird one....
I think there is a valid argument Jon could make for Kate to not take the twins along on this trip IF they are made to work on the trip--including posing for photographs, being ogled by fans, required to attend fan events with Kate. If she assures Jon and the judge that the kids will not participate in any of that and will be with the nanny or RC kid zones while Kate works, I think the judge will allow it.
Sillimom, my celeb sometimes, thought truly not that often, took the children along on working trips. But they never, ever were made to participate in the event themselves and always had a nanny, or adult sibling or trusted friend along to do fun things with them until the adult work day was over. In fact, the trip I went on was a working trip, they were making a movie. I was with the children all day, and parents would join us for dinner and time together in the evening like see a movie or hang out at the hotel pool. No one bothered us not once. The older they got, the more rare it was for the kids to be along on working trips. Eventually one of them refused to go all together--they don't like to travel. Another local event was a signing at a local community festival. I took the kids separately, we went to a kids booth where they were doing an art project, and we had fun there until Mommy was done with her fans and could come join us and even helped with the project for a bit--again, no one cared and I don't even think the other people there knew there were celebrity kids there.
Even a year ago the kid who doesn't like to travel was asking me to come stay with kid while parents and siblings were out of town for the weekend at a publicity event (think like presenting at a showbiz gala out of town)--this kid didn't want to go and wasn't made to go. Good grief Kate, just about everybody in this business has handled this situation better than you. Even other narcissists. Congrats.
If Kate can arrange it so the twins have a similar experience, where it really is all vacation to them and they don't have to do what they don't want to, I suppose it's possible to keep them protected. But I'm not convinced. I've seen the kid zones on RC. They are freely accessible to anyone. Anyone could stand at the window and stare. Anyone who has a kid could walk right in. Unless you lock them in their tiny rooms, I don't see how the kids can be on this ship and still be protected from crazy fans.

Really? I thought that was her most narcissistic blog post yet. I could hear her arrogant self all throughout that post. "As you may already know..." as if the whole world knows her every move. "I've always belived in being fit..." Always? The first 4-5 years after the tups were born you didn't work out and had zero interest in the outdoors. You wouldn't even skate with your daughter or participate in any skiing in Utah ( your lazy ass was at the spa ).
She just proves time and time again that she will say whatever benefits her and makes her look good in that moment, even if there is proof that contradicts what she says.
I believe Kate has $millions and she just wants to take the opportunity to show off her nasty bikini body on the cruise ship. She will take any gig in order to stay "out there." I saw a brief minute of Jane V Mitchell re: Kate's cruise. I changed the channel quickly. How is it news worthy anyway?
Someone that posted a message on the Cruise Critic facebook page, basically said the same thing we have been saying here:

Anyone that books through the agency for HER group cruise will pay extra to be with her, therefore paying Kate. RCCL is making no additional money, other than getting the money owed to them for each cabin booked. The commission with go the the agency organizing this fiasco, and the additional $600-650 to be with Kate, will obviously go to Kate...NOT RCCL. RCCL is paying Kate NOTHING! The people booking through Alice Travel are paying Kate! If you don't want to be on the ship with her group, don't book the Allure August 12-19!
It's shameful how Kate is pushing this cruise through Alice Travel to her beloved sheeple (who she loves, and values so much ;o) ).
I knew her sheeple were going to serve her well in some way or another....
Not that this is exactly breaking news, but I have a credible insider going on record who served Kate at a very popular and unhealthy fast food place this weekend. If it's anything worth posting I will but even if not: HYPOCRITE.

Are we sure RC is not making any money? I highly doubt that. They are allowing Kate to host numerous events using their rooms. A cruise has hundreds of events on the ship on each trip but they don't hand them out like candy, they must be getting some kind of cut to compensate them for use of the areas on the ship. Heck they are even having that bbq RC isn't throwing that for free, they will want to be compensated fairly. At the very least they must have some provision where if you fill X amount of cabins we will allow you the use of the room. There is SOME benefit to them they are not a charity.
I think RC does need to take a certain responsibility for who they have on their ship, but I don't think Kate is at the level where they need to refuse her event.

I don't think it was your photoshop, admin, but I can't be 100 percent positive that it wasn't. I was cooking dinner, looked up for a second, started typing, and didn't pay attention to the heads on the photo. I laughed because they used your idea for the Titanic picture and thought...hmmmm...were they reading 15 Minutes? I happened so fast I didn't have time to check it out. I do know that both Jane and whatever guy on there really were slamming Jon, and for no reason. It wasn't about him, it was about the cruise, but they couldn't resist the chance to knock him down.

First the only cruise me mum and da took was the Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise. They had a good time, said there were kids aboard, and very good kids at that. Me mum is not wild about kids, but was impressed by these. There were activities for them. The only way to do this trip is by boat. Can't drive it.
Second, the fans on twitter seem to finding that they can book the cruise a thousand less elsewhere. I imagine a good many will. Imagine their shock when they get aboard and find out they won't be allowed anywhere near their favorite grifting, selfish abuser. Steve will finally have his hands full keeping people away. I doubt the ship would let them pay an extra $1000 once they are on board since they will have alloted space for those who already paid. The ship isn't getting an extra cut at that point. Those fans will be real haters, I mean real out of their minds, I'm gonna tear her up, haters. None so mean as those who spend a lot money, went to a lot trouble, but tried to at least get a deal by paying regular price, and then get bitch slapped. Dealing with danger here.

didn't say she is doing this for nothing. actually i think she is getting paid and probably well. i just don't know that she gets a percentage of every passenger signing up or a flat fee not based on number of passengers but just getting paid for the gig. what was said above is not fact nor is the amount. it's just speculation.

Here's how it is done in the cruise industry/celebrity cruises:
It is an incentive for the celebrity to obtain as many bookings as possible because the cabins need to be filled and the more cabins booked, the more money in his/her pocket. That's how the sponsoring agency makes money, and that's how the cruise line makes money. They do not pay the celebrity a flat rate just for showing up. Think about it. If they paid the celebrity a negotiated fee-for-gig, maybe $50,000 regardless of how many people showed up, and only 25 people booked cabins, both the cruise line and the agency would lose money. The whole idea is to fill the cabins, not just hand over one lump sum to the celebrity. The only exception to this might be if the celebrity is a major one who could guarantee that the number of cabins set aside for the private group would be filled.
This certainly is not the case with Kate.
