Contrast that to the Paula Deen cruises. From what I've read, she has her entire extended family on board and they also participate in all of the Paula Deen "activities". She'll have her two sons, her husband, her brother Bubba, her aunt Peggy, etc. And all of those family members appear to be gregarious, fun loving, approachable, gracious people. The opposite of Kate.
And what has happened to the running? LOL. I thought it was interesting how someone tweeted her a while back asking if she had her next marathon all lined up. Kate responded that she was "working on it" or something vague. In other words, it won't be happening unless she gets an all expense paid trip, vip perks, some press coverage, etc. If she was really into the running for the sake of running, she would have already booked her next marathon on her own. You know, like the mediocre people do.

Over at preesi's site, there are several unflattering articles regarding the Allure: the recent rape of a 15 year old (good lord....), on-board drug dealing and overdoses, death by falling, and subpar medical facilities and staffing. The 15 year old was lured away from a teen club to the room of her predators (yes, plural). Someone from the Facebook website related her experience on the ship: portions of the ship quarantined due to Norwalk virus. She sounds like a true germs phone and couldn't deal with the unsanitary habits of her fellow shipmates and eventually took all her meals in cabin thru room service.
It's been my personal experience that the people who go on cruises are middle class to lower middle class who shop for the good rates after saving up for a long time. Sure, there are rich people who cruise, but the cheaper rooms on these carribean cruises are what the common folk can afford. The farther away from the continental US the cruise, the more expensive and therefore more exclusive. No matter, after what I've learned today, I think I'd rather spend my $ on a beautiful hotel somewhere beautiful and interesting.
These teen sheeple are still trying to figure out how to go on this cruise. The travel agency needs to make it clear that if they are under 21 they will need an adult with them in the cabin - not necessarily a parent, but an adult who is over 21. I really don't think that they have a clue. I can just see one of them showing up at the port, producing ID and being told that they can't board without an adult. Will one of the sheeple strangers pop up and offer to be the teen's roomie?

If Kate were smart (eyeroll) she'd apologize to her fans for even suggesting this whole ocean adventure and tell them she didn't realize how expensive it would be for them. Since that'll never happen I think this stupid cruise idea will be her undoing with a lot of them.
And if she were REALLY smart she'd tell her fans she's going to cut back on the tweeting and turn her attention to looking for some kind of job away from the public eye. But since THAT's not going to happen either I'd say she's got herself in a bind here. How is she going to stay on good terms with them now? To clarify, it's not the cruise company. The Kate cruise is sponsored by Alice Travel on a RCCL ship.
It would seem like August would not be the most popular time for a cruise (hurricane season) and more people want to go in the winter to escape the cold weather. So, I would guess that is the reason they booked Kate for the August cruise. They may have a few empty cabins anyway, and if there is a remote chance of filling them with Kate fans that is better than an empty cabin (at least in the eyes of the cruise line people).

I think that she would care very much. The whole point of this cruise is for her to make money. If the turn-out is lousy, she's not getting the bucks. It's not only about a free trip. When she was given the freebies by TLC, it was not only the vacation, but she was being paid per episode to do it. She wants the money, not just a romp in the sand with the twins.
At any time Steve could have told Kate that he didn't care about the pizza and that he would find something else to eat.

I agree that, at first blush, Steve (I decided I wasn't going to call him Skeeve. It sounds too much like an insult to one of my favorite book series' -- Robert Asprin's MYTH books. One of the main characters is a wizard named Skeeve) looked like a silver fox. When he continued to travel unchaparoned with Kate after Jon said he suspected them of having an affair, I decided he was an asshat. His behavior over the pizza episode just cemented my opinion. ANY adult who lets a 10 year old take the fall for something like that is a creep and a jerk, IMO. All he needed to say was "Let her have the pizza". Five simple words to diffuse that whole ugly incident. He wasn't man enough to do it.

We all thought we'd be happier when the poor kids were off the air, but that's not the case. The sheeple want to know why, and i have an answer for them--it's because of the LIES!! Remember all those times she went on talk shows and said that she'd do anything, go back to nursing, work at McDonald's( WTH?? Anon, My prayers are with you. I know how hard it is to dealwith cancer--we have had a few recent occurrences in the family. The happy news is, cancer is not the dire prognosis that it once was. Recent advances in cancer treatment are astonishing, and cancer can be managed for long periods of time now, even if it can't be "cured" in all cases. Keep your head up, shoulders back, and let yourself be the rock that your dad can lean on when he needs support. Positivity and determination ill take you both far.

Anon - You and your family definitely have my prayers. My mother was diagnosed the day after Thanksgiving 2010 with leukemia and she passed away 8 days later. We barely left her side for 8 days; we laughed, we cried, we told stories, and we just sat. But I am so thankful that we at least had 8 days to tell her what we needed to tell her. I truly hope you can get to your father's side and I will pray for his recovery.

The jealousy thing is beyond silly at this point with huge flaws in the argument.
Let's talk about tonight. It's a Sunday night. Kate is in a strange city (she's been there only twice), by herself or at least with the paid help Steve, away from her kids, her home, with a bunch of strange people at a very boring conference (to her, frankly to a lot of people), and is not even listed on the guest speaker list. By chance, what if the plans between now and May or August fall through? What it the plans are just scrapped for whatever reason? Her show Twist of Kate never made it off the ground, her last book never made much attention and her last show Kate plus 8 only lasted a few specials and what, a season or 2?
I mean if I looked at all this objectively, it tells me that this whole cruise thing doesn't sound worth it. Her book signings have been minimal if best and the press has faded from her save the occasional local pap or two.

Mmm. I liked it. Oh, you can get escargot on RC too. But it will never be like what I ate in Paris.
I have been on 7 cruises and have never paid less than $5,000 (for everything) for two people. That includes the room, excursions, alcohol, everything. Not cheap. Oh...and if you're a diet Coke-aholic like me...you have to pay extra for your soda. My favorite cruise line is RC because they are much more classy. Carnival and Princess are somewhat disappointing.
As far as the celeb making money, for the cruise I took with my local celeb brother, he didn't make a dime. He just got a free room that he and his wife shared. There was only one event with him, otherwise everyone was on their own. And the tables are all assigned so most likely only Kate and her "staff" will be dining with her...not the riff-raff. Even I didn't get a table with my brother, which was totally fine!

If you can't come up with the funds to go out to where he lives on your own, do some checking around. Sometimes the airlines will give special rates to people who have to fly for a family emergency. Usually it means going standby, but still, it would be a way to get there. If you belong to a church, temple or synagogue, check with them. Many have emergency funds for members who are in need of assistance. Also check with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Your employer may have emergency funds for employees, too. I know it's hard to ask for help, but sometimes it's necessary. Do whatever you can to be with your father during this difficult time. God bless.

There was a time, awhile back, where restaurants were not allowed to serve them in shells because of contamination. That took all the fun out of eating them. I always think of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, trying to grasp the shells, and flicking them onto the floor.
Regarding escargot, remember the I Love Lucy episode where she and Ethel had 'couture' gowns made out of burlap in Paris? In one of those Parisian episodes, she ordered snails, not knowing what they were. She was aghast as only Lucille Ball could be, putting her fingers to her head like devil horns and saying, "Snails!!" She then takes the device to hold the snail and very dramatically swings her arm around and places it on her nose. I wish I could find the youtube video. I read your link, which jogged a few memories from when I originally watched it.
What struck me as odd, what I couldn't put my finger on about Kate is simply how...almost detached she seemed in a way I guess to me anyway. She spoke of kids being "normal," the clip I saw later how distraught she seemed Aaden needed glasses. How she just labeled the children immediately. I guess truth is, it was her flat, distant, monotone voice. Just something in that respect. She didn't sound truly happy then just like she doesn't sound happy now. How she managed to sleep so late without any mention of help.
Her freak out about the diaper was ridiculous, red flag to me of how detached she seemed was that Jon was the bath giver. What mother doesn't bathe her babies? Even if both parents do I've never known it to do a sole parent job if you were married.
Her detachment, that she didn't feel she saw them enough...um, well, could have been those insane 4 hour naps. She could have seen them more if she played with them instead of exiling them upstairs.
But, I have always wondered about that other family with the other multiples myself.

KT keeps talking about how much FUN they will have. She uses the word FUN very loosely. FUN to her is getting out of the house and TRAVELING, since she never got to leave the farm as a child (boo hoo). I have never in all the episodes seen a single where KT has had FUN doing anything. The kids had a little fun and Jon had a little fun what KT didn't snatch away, once she realized they were actually having fun. No where is it written that life is supposed to be fun or that a Christmas candle light vigil is supposed to be FUN. We can have FUN sitting at home watching TV, eating popcorn or going to Burger King.
If the Tweeties want Pg and the other teenagers to go so bad, why don't they donate the money for them and hopefully a parent or another responsible adult to take the cruise. They are essentially saying, beg, borrow, whatever.

Found this interesting tidbit about comped cruises for bloggers and cruise critics. It stand to reason that since she is the showpiece of this cruise, her trip is totally free. Cruise bloggers and professional cruise critics are totally comped including airfare, although their guest may have to pay their own airfare. So it's not clear to me whether she is credited per guest or it is free already. Just another scam for ol' Kate. Let's just say I am pretty sure she or her "manager" approached Alice Travel for this freebie.
I read reviews of the Paula Deen cruise and people had a great time. What Kate doesn't realize is that people will blog about it, so if she acts up or doesn't participate and have a good time, it will be out there for everyone to read. She's a poor choice to host a cruise. Now that TLC is no longer involved, her behavior cannot be edited and Steve can't grab people's cameras. It may be worth it just to hear what happens. It does get Alice Travel publicity because I never heard of them before.

A sheeple said that Kate needs to earn a living, so she sees nothing wrong with the cruise. My question is, how is getting a free cruise earning a living? Is she getting a percentage of the booked fans on her cruise on top of the comped cabin? I have to wonder if that is the case since I am reading that if you speccifically book the Kate cruise through Alice Travel, the amount is much higher than if you just book as a regular cruise guest. I guess Alice Travel is justifying the higher price because you are part of Kate's special events. Sounds to me like Kate's incentive is a free trip plus extra cash. And what of Steve? Does she pay his way or is it a package deal? And if she brings the twins, which I doubt will happen, of course there will be a nanny. I bet she threw it out there about the twins knowing that Jon would never agree so she can blame him.
Also, I bet she's the only antendee at the Couponcabin marketing conference at Caesar's Palace with a bodyguard....because although I have read nothing to indicate he's there, we all know he is.
Safety of kids. That's all I really care about anymore with regard to this woman and her "ass-hattery" as mentioned above. Two things:
1. I'm not familiar with the laws surrounding social media, but this whole cruise scenario has the stink of 'solicitation' around it, particularly where underage kids are concerned. Kate is actively soliciting money from them and trying to convince them to join her offshore for what she calls "fun". One of her fans (and again, I must stress the anonymity people have behind their computer screens) was apparently just as active in soliciting room-sharing suggestions to these teens. Cannot stress strongly enough, all Kate has is a name in most cases - these people could be ANYONE. Very interested in knowing if anyone knows about the legality of such solicitations over the internet.
2. I hope Jon and Ellen (for all the reasons mentioned above) are keeping close tabs on this cruise scam, given that the twin girls may be attending. If Jon has any voice left whatsoever about his children being taken out of the country, especially where these bizarre 'fans' of Kate are concerned, I hope he is not prevented from using it. In my country, children may not be taken out of their living area without the permission of the non-custodial parent. This cruise thing seems particularly dangerous given all the unknowns - I would not even think of allowing my kids to participate, and in fact I'd have reservations about being cooped up with these anonymous people myself, as an adult.
Surely someone must be watching out for, or at least thinking about the young ones in this. Admin...any thoughts on this? Am I wrong in detecting Kate's attempt at soliciting these teens? And could there be legal repercussions? For anyone else who has contact with Jon, I hope he is capturing every single tweet on her account and uses them to prevent his daughters from potential danger. Just my opinion.

Elise - someone brought this up recently and the RC's age policy was posted here. What's concerning is that the sheeple are suggesting that the teens find a way to get the money and book a room with a single adult sheeple who is going. This, of course, brings up the safety of the teens who would be sharing a cabin with an unknown internet stranger. I would think that no parent would ever allow their child to do this, but you just never know. One teen who really wants to go and was told by a sheeple to find a way to make it happen is only 15.

If adult fans want to spend their money for this cruise, fine. It's their money and their time. Wouldn't be my choice for a summer vacation, but I've known people who have taken celebrity cruises and had a great time, not necessarily because they got unlimited access to their celebrity - far from it, these events are very structured as someone mentioned earlier - but rather because they got to hang out with other fans. It's the same reason going to Sci Fi conventions or Knitting Conventions or Book Conventions etc. are so much fun. It's about being in community with other people who share the same interests as you do. Seeing the celebrity in most cases is just the cherry on top for most fans in these situations.
As for recruiting the teens, I can only hope and pray that their parents are active in the lives and will put their foot down about sharing cabins with complete strangers. If my teen had come asking to go see their favorite celebrity on a cruise, I would have said "no". Not because we couldn't necessarily afford it but because spending $6-7,000 on a cruise just to see a celebrity is ridiculous. I'd rather take that 6-7 grand and invest it towards my child's future.

Add the $490 per person fuel charge, the optional events, flights, hotels, drinks, excursions (since she's acting as tour guide for an excursion will she be excecting more money for that? You bet she will! And I'm also willing to bet she'll charge people for the materials to do the craft project with her). Poor sheeple thnk they're going to make a lifelong connection with Kate and be invited into her life, and then with time will have to face the fact that all Kate did was take their money and toss them onto the pile with the other people she's used. Because Khate probably has NO idea about the age restrictions. She is so dumb that when the cruise news just broke the other day and some sheeple tweeted that only US citizens could go, Khate replied to several of their tweets, basically saying that was too bad. Kate might be getting a "free" trip, but the IRS will be taking note. Plus the cruise line will send her a 1099 as they need to report to IRS deductions they take for promotion, which is what this is. So she'll pay taxes on the stated value of her trip, plus any money paid to her for people who go. So she basically gets a steeply discounted cruise, not a free one.

I really wish these teens had parents who monitored what they did online. I'm a firm believer that if your kid has Twitter or Facebook, you also need an account and you need to be following them on Twitter and be a friend on Facebook. You don't have to embarrass them with their friends and tweet to them or leave comments on Facebook, but you at least need to keep an eye on what they are saying and who they are communicating with. Or, you could just be like Khate and be lazy.

As part of this "package," those with the group will most likely get a badge and a list of the events. They show up at the room where it's being held, someone checks the badge and lets them in. The ship has a capacity for more than 6,000 passengers, and in that sea of people, Kate will never bump into any of them outside of these activities. Unless, of course, they find her cabin, sit on the steps and wait for her to come out and use the elevator, or wait for her to leave an activity and follow her back to her cabin. I wouldn't put it past them.

I really beleive the Kate part of the cruise will be cancelled due to lack of interest. She can't even get her most dedicated followers out there to pay that kind of money in bleepin hot August, height of the hurricane season, just before school starts, or has already started. It is all a recipe for disaster.
Think about it. Anyone with real interest in Kate would probably follow her on Twitter or follow her website. She can't even be bothered to keep her website up to date and never promotes anything she does on it. She doesn't keep the upcoming events section current. She couldn't get anyone that wanted to listen to her speak at Penn State. I think reports were under 100 people and most were students, who probably were required to go for class or something. Does anyone know if Jon is aware of Kate showcasing two of the children at this cruise as part of her package or have anyone reached out to Jon to see if he will take action to prevent this? As I see this; Kate and the children would be no longer under contract by August so the children are not obligated to put on a performance or meet the fans on Kate's behalf. Remember Jon lost over the NZ trip because they were under contract and the judge said it was work-related? I really hope Jon will take her to court to prevent her from taking any of the children on this trip as it is not work-related for him anyway. It's just so wrong to use the children like this to trick the fans into paying for a trip they cannot afford. I also can't see CC paying for the twins' expenses since their contact is with Kate only. The charity event has not been finalized. They are working on it. If she has a favorite charity, there will be a $10 donation to attend.
The passport card is not valid for the private island of Haiti. It is, however, for Mexico and Jamaica. So for those who are thinking they can buy the less expensive passport card, it's not going to work. They need the passport book.

Re the kids' naps -- Kate also punished any of the kids who had the gumption/temerity/guts to climb out of bed before they were allowed up, by forcing them to stay in the bed for an extra 45 minutes. 45 minutes! For 2 year olds! That's way beyond punishment and into abuse territory. A 2 year old doesn't have the capacity to understand or learn from a punishment of that length. Her behavioral expectations for those kids has always been very unrealistic. She obviously paid no attention to the child development classes she took in nursing school.
I hope that someone is monitoring her activity for Jon and makes him aware of the fact that she's being billed as bringing 2 of the kids on this cruise, and that he is able to put a stop to it. As others have said, it's creepy and slimy, to put it mildly.

Grrr! This is the sort of thing that burns my biscuits! If you're gonna ask me for a charitable donation, I want to know what the charity is in advance. Just saying, relax, it's for charity, so it's good, doesn't cut it with me--especially when Kate's favorite charity is herself.

That long nap time was all about Kate getting rid of them for the afternoon. Good grief when my kids were babes I'd poke my head in their room every few minutes to make sure they were sleeping. I understand any mom's need for a break and some kind of organization especially with six babies, but to leave them alone in a room for four hours is ignorant and unsafe. How they all survived babyhood with Kate's mothering skills is beyond me. Oh yeah... Jon.
I hope the "shore excursion with Kate" is not lead by Kate. Besides the danger of getting hopelessly lost in a foreign country, we all saw her explanatory skills in the RV from Hell episode. If the Grand Canyon is a "big crevisy thing" that goes on for "10,000 miles" and is "wasted space," can you imagine how she would describe local customs, a museum, a historical marker, or heck, even the ocean?
I also gotta say that limiting the "commemorative personalized gift" to one per family is super-cheap and insulting. I mean, damn Kate, some lady has dragged her husband and a kid or two to The Shearing and you can't give EVERYONE a Dollar Store frame with names and dates painted on it?
