LOL!! Eight guests standard, meaning eight adults with children. They are not going to allow 14 adults in one cabin. The Presidential isn't even available on that cruise. If it were, the price would be MORE than they would be paying in a cabin for two. I'll have to figure it out, but I'd believe that the cost for 14 adults in that cabin would be approximately $4,000 per person, if they would allow it.

I took an RC cruise 11 years ago. Much to our surprise it was also a Richard Simmons cruise. I think only 25 people were in his group...and boy did he always look irritated. Took a few pics of him just to show friends what a pickle he truly is. He was FURIOUS that the people NOT in his group took his picture. He would not speak to anyone not in his group and got annoyed with his group if they approached him outside of the assigned "events" including a book signing. Narcissist to the max. At least he worked his butt off to earn his fame and fortune, I'll give him that. Our travel agent was so surprised. She had no idea. Can you just imagine how the other 4,000 on the that boat are going to react finding KG there as well? Betcha some will demand a refund!

When we went on our cruise it was only 4 days from LA to Mexico. The food was good (not the best thing I ever ate but tasty) and there certainly was a lot of it! We only ate in the dining room once, mostly because we had an inconvenient time and it was just easier to hit the buffet.
Our cabin was small but certainly worked for my husband and I (and we're not tiny people by any stretch of the imagination!).
We went 6 years ago because they were having a sale and we managed to go for under $1000 and that included airfare, the cruise, and some day excursions. I don't think I'd spend $4000 plus expenses and airfare just to meet Kate Gosselin. Sorry but no.

Yes, it is nebulous. That's the first thing I would want to know if I laid out money on this. If Kate cancels because not enough people have signed up, will those that have made final payment get a refund? It doesn't sound like it.
In addition, I'd also want to know if the travel agency can cancel at its discretion, and only those who purchased insurance would get a refund.

I took an RC cruise 11 years ago. Much to our surprise it was also a Richard Simmons cruise. I think only 25 people were in his group...and boy did he always look irritated. Took a few pics of him just to show friends what a pickle he truly is. He was FURIOUS that the people NOT in his group took his picture. He would not speak to anyone not in his group and got annoyed with his group if they approached him outside of the assigned "events" including a book signing. Narcissist to the max. At least he worked his butt off to earn his fame and fortune, I'll give him that. Our travel agent was so surprised. She had no idea. Can you just imagine how the other 4,000 on the that boat are going to react finding KG there as well? Betcha some will demand a refund!

I went on a "Soap Opera" cruise in '98 where celebs from CBS soap operas were on board. They were all nice ( and drunk , too ), but you don't "mingle" with the celebs like some of Kate sheeple are thinking will happen. The celebs do certain "hosting" events, like mc a belly flop contest, a Q&A forum, some who had talent and could sing did so during the shows at night, and you could wait in a line for signed autographs one day, but there was never any mingling between them and us fans. It's not as if Milo or anybody will be sitting with Kate at the Captain's dinner and having girl time. No. The queeen will be surrounded by her royal "staff" as she walks through crowds and stops to chat with no one on her way to doing whatever it is she's scheduled to do ( call out Bingo balls? ). My guess is the rest of the time she will be sunning it on her private balcony and instructing her staff to keep the mediocre peeps away from her.
My guess is any of her fans who shell out big bucks to go will be disembarking and muttering, "Well that was a load of crap!"

Snd then it came out that she had also taken $100,000 earlier that year "to buy food for the kids". Wow, those are some expensive groceries. So, let me get this straight--she took $153,000 total, and he took $177,000. And he is the bad guy for taking money, and she is the good guy for also taking money. Sorry, that doesn't work at all for me. Why couldn't she have said the actual amount he took? Why didn't she admit that she took part of that money herself, and had taken more before that? Absolutely, but they'd add another five hundred plus on there (which is what they did for this celeb package). Kate has to make her money!
What she's too stupid to see is that with a less expensive cruise, she'd get many more sheeple to sign up, and she'd make more money than she'd make with just a handful on an expensive cruise. Dumb, dumber, dumbest.

Re: feeding. It's always been my biggest pet peeve of Kate's speech and that's saying a lot!! Feeding leftovers, feeding dinner....I don't think it's regional- more often used with small children you do actually have to 'feed!' It is odd she eats a separate meal- doesn't she insist her kids eat only healthy foods in the correct order, organic of course? She used to eat at the end of the table in the old house...she could just have a small portion.
But if she did only a 3 day cruise she would have no days away from the fans!

Here's something else that the sheeple don't know. Before you board, you have to register your credit card with them. They run it to make sure that you're not maxed out. At the end of the cruise, all extra charges are put on that card, and there are many extra charges. When you get the final bill, you're amazed that you spent that much money (alcohol, sodas, shore excursions, gifts on board, internet etc.). If you want sodas, it's a package for $6.50 per day per person, so there's another $91.00 for a husband and wife - additional charge.
Before you can leave the ship, your credit card has to be approved and not declined. You're sitting there waiting to disembark, and you'll hear, "Will so and so please come to guest relations to settle your account" and you know that these people have maxed out their credit card and need to find another form of payment.

It really sounds like kind of a fly-by-night operation. My husband and I had to cancel a trip to Punta Cana last summer due to a death in the family, and the trip insurance offered through the agency we used allowed us to cancel for any reason. I have never been on a cruise, so I don't know if this medical emergency stipulation is common or not.
It was just a matter of time before Kate followed through on her plan to USE her twitter friends. I say "her plan to use" because that's all Kate has ever done with people involved in her life. But this time it's even more offensive because so many of these people are minors.

If you have insurance, you can cancel if she doesn't show. It depends on the insurance you choose. This does not say that you must use Access. You can choose your own cruise insurance, and some insurance plans have a cancel for any reason clause, which means it does not have to be a medical emergency. Sheeple need to read up on this before they sign up for anything.
This cruise didn't just show up one day randomly. More and more I'm convinced she has been planning for AGES on some massive way to strip her sheeple of their cash. It explains why she has been increasingly nicer and nicer to them, even in the past couple weeks double and tripling her efforts to suck up.

Those hidden fees add up. What the sheeple probably don't know is that the ship is on a cash-less system. If you want a pack of gum, it goes on your credit card. You're sitting around the pool, the guy brings you a Bahama Mama or two, and you sign for it. You go into the gift shop to pick up some tee shirts for the kids, you sign for it. You must have some of those photos that were taken onboard every day (at dinner, on the deck, wherever), you sign for it.
When you get your final tally, you'll need a good stiff drink. They think that the cabin cost and final payment on May 15 is the grand total. They will have a rude awakening.
Sheeple need to pay attention to those charges. I was on a cruise and noticed some charges that I didn't make. The gal said, no problem, I'll credit your account and issue you a new final bill. The new one was also incorrect. Issued me a third one, which was fine.
I got home and found out that they charged me THREE TIMES and never credited the two final bills that were in error. It was in the thousands of dollars. I contacted the credit card company with documentation that two of those bills should have been voided. It took six months, and no response from the cruise line to get it straightened out. The CC company did issue me credit. I have never cruised with them again, nor would I.

You need to register a card before you cruise for the onboard expense account. You cannot sail without it. You can settle your bill in cash. Some cruise lines did, at one time, allow you to pay cash up front before you embarked. If you think you're going to spend $500, you give them that much in cash. If you go over that amount, you must settle in cash or on the credit card they have on file. I don't know if they still do that, but I would be surprised if they do. I've never used that method of payment.

It's Royal Caribbean's private island. Each of the cruise lines has purchased private islands that only that cruise line sails to. They have programs for the kids on the island, some craft shops, spa treatments, misting stations (it gets HOT!), water sports, a zip line, aqua park and a barbecue for everyone. Only the passengers on the cruise line are on the island. It's sealed off from the rest of Haiti by a wire fence.

The Haiti stop on cruises always disturbs me. There is this beautiful, pristine beach location with great personal service, relaxation, great food and beverages, etc, etc. - and you are completely isolated from the horrendous poverty and now earthquake-affected life that is the rest of Haiti. Exactly what bothers me. By the way, I don't like Radar snarking about Haiti. It is bad there. Now they're having problems with disease because of unclean water, etc., not to mention violence. Our church was all set to send a group there a couple months ago, and literally two days before we pulled the trip. Too dangerous. We have sent people all over the world including Burma and Africa and never cancelled trips! But it's fine and dandy to see a two square mile that the cruise companies cleaned up to look all perfect. Forget what's happening beyond the splendor, just don't think about it and you'll sleep fine tonight.

Tamara, I get what you're saying. I do. And I think there is a line you have to draw where you just have to let other adults do what they want. But I think as a society we have an obligation to look out for each other, even those who are dumb, making stupid decisions, digging their own graves, even folks we don't really like, who have been cruel to us.
I think if people see a snake oil salesman, we should say so. If we see someone falling for the snake oil salesman's tricks, we should tell them. Sure, they might not listen. But at least we said something and alerted them. I think it's a moral obligation. Maybe not the same sort of obligation folks feel when CHILDREN are being harmed, but it's on the same moral lines.
I look at it this way. If I were being dumb and getting swindled, I hope someone would tell me. Maybe I'd be too stubborn to listen, but at least the seed was planted for me to chew on. And when I DO get to the point where I realize something is off here, I'll remember that person who said something to justify why I'm jumping ship.

I agree and that is why I barely got through Part 2 before I had to quit. The scary part is how deeply devoted these people are to the person they worship, how they believe that they have a personal relationship with that person; and how upset they become when it seems that they are being ignored. All of the things that have been said all along about Kate's fan base, yet here she is not only communicating with them on Twitter but inviting them to spend face-to-face time with her and possibly a couple of her children.

This reminds me of Jacob Marley's profound words in Dickens' A Christmas Carol:

It's quite a leap to assume that someone who thinks Kate needs to take responsibility for her interactions with her fans (she does) means they actually WANT Kate to get hurt. Not a single person remotely suggested that. The fans have no credibility when the bend and twist what we say to suit their purpose.
To oversimplify it, it's sort of like politics. There are those who say just let Americans fend for themselves don't interfere leave them alone everyone has a right to their own decisions and lives. Then there are those that say intervene, stop it when something is going wrong, make things better, fix it, change it.
There's a case for both. But when it comes to Kate preying on her fans, I'm in the camp that says it's wrong, stop it, fix it.

I hope that if any of these teen fans save enough money and decide to go on their own that they are told in advance that they cannot be in a cabin unless there is an adult (21 years old) present. If I were a parent to a minor, there is no way on the face of this earth that I would allow my daughter to room with a female adult sheeple who is a stranger.

I've been in a lot of fandoms over the years, and saw the crazy fans, first hand. The James Marsters fandom, for one. Crazed women would pay: $1500, for what amounts to 10 min with James. During a meet & greet, at a sci-fi convention of 3 days, this did not include air-fare or hotel. What it mostly was, private party(with 24 to 50 other people, who also paid that amount), front row seating, first to get pics with, autographs with, sunday breakfast, saturday concert: front row seats. These women would buy anything with his pics on it. He sold his dirty, broken couch for $2000, on e-bay. Something you or I would throw in the garbage.(they must be looking for DNA) After like the breakfast or any party, the fans would take anything that he touched. The venue was not happy about the one who cut the hole in the tablecloth.
And yes they were obsessed fans. Fans who camped out, by his hotel room, brought him presents, dressed as if they were going to a wedding, flew in from England, Italy, Germany, and across the country. One had front row seats and a camera with telo-scope lens of a foot & a half, taking auto pics of him(before digital camera, were talking film)(don't know if she was taking pics of his nose hairs, she was that close), screaming at him, when he came into the room. One even threaten to kill his GF(who by the way was a very nice person, too young(20years younger than him)I talked to her, even told that person who said that: you are not gonna do anything to her. These are the same ones who would show up at every appearance he made, even flying over to Europe and following him, there(must be nice to have money). One fan in Santa Monica, use to leave him a package every morning at his house, and waited in the car till he picked it up. One even broke into his house. I heard this stuff, experienced a lot of it, first hand, talked with some of the nut cases, and read on some blogs about it. Kates devotes sound like the same ones. Scary! Davy Jones fans are about the same, only older. And yes they all take the he's mine, attitude. Enough to almost declare war. Since I've never had an obsession with any woman, I can only tell you, of men, and mine were short lived. Obsessed for the moment and it was gone. My stands these days is for justice, trying to get our most gullible to see the light. Don't believe everything you hear, or anything that gets said these days. The runners for the next President, they flip-flop, from one moment to the next. It's who do you want to believe, or what do you want to believe. I guess I just don't understand this obsessive fandom. There are authors, singers and actors I like a lot. Buy their books? Of course, maybe even go to a book signing if it's in my area. Attend concerts - again, of course. Go to their movies,watch their TV shows, maybe even buy their DVDs? Definitely. But travel all over the country? Spend $$$$$$$$ just to breathe the same air or maybe exchange a word or two with them? No way, Jose. I've met celebrities. I had a job once that involved meeting, interacting with, and acting as an assistant for a number of celebrities. Most of them were very nice. Regular people. Enormously talented, for the most part. A few were jerks. I just don't understand grown women (and men) who put people like Kate, who has absolutely nothing going for her except for 8 children she doesn't seem to appreciate, up on a pedestal. I'm pretty sure there's no "city" in Labadee - I think it's land owned by RC and the only thing there is beach. I went on a RC cruise about 20 years ago in a group package with a major pro sports team. I have to admit that at that time I really had a "groupie" mentality - I went to pretty much any local appearance that was open to the public, hung out where they exited after games and outside of where they practiced (I never tried to get into anything private). I even managed to show up at a few distant road games and somehow they were never surprised to see me. I was delighted to get to "know" them all - on a very superficial level, of course - and they all knew my name. The only thing I wanted from them was an occasional handshake or an autograph. I guess there was enough lacking in my life that this grasping for crumbs made me feel good, so I can kind of understand the sheeple mentality, much as I hate to say it. What really felt good was that one of the major players -now deceased :-( - actually gave me his phone number and didn't mind if I called him every few months to chat for a few minutes. The best part was that he trusted me not to abuse the privilege.
Back to the cruise - There were a few activities (cocktail party, etc.) that were limited to our group, but there wasn't a whole lot of contact. I remember wandering around the ship hoping to run into the players but I rarely saw them or their entourage (wives, team executives, etc.) except in the organized events. Or in the casino! The funniest thing was that they ended up being part of one evening's major entertainment. Connie Stevens was singing "Close To You" and she hauled 4 or 5 of the players onstage to sing with her, feeding each one lines to sing individually. It was funny as hell - they all looked mortified. :-) But back to topic (sorry this is so long, but it was fun remembering!) - anyone hoping to encounter Kate by accident doesn't have much chance - obviously she's not the type to be out hobnobbing with the mediocre.
Am wondering if Kate took the red eye flight to LV last night, as she disappered after dinner yesterday without her usual "GN to my 69,000+ twitter friends. I am so exhausted." Guess time will tell.

Kate's downfall in this scheme was her greediness. It might have worked had she tried for something with a cheaper price tag--$1,000 or $750 or who knows what the sheeple's average (upper) price would be to see their Queen.
But Kate started calculating what all these little people were worth to her and multiplied by the number of "tweeties" she was SURE would come. I can almost see her math. "If I could make $100 per fan, no, $200 each. Wait! $400 is better. $400 from Barb's spending money, $400 from Paige's college fund, $400 from Milo's medical account... And I have thousands of Tweeties! If some will bring their two kids, that's $1,200 I can make on each family!"

Just a few observations from my end:
1. I really do think Kate has something major coming up, be it a new book or something. Why would Alice Travel and RC invest in her if she didn't have anything coming up? They probably know she is coming out with something major and will be going through the talk show circuit to promote herself and advertise for the cruise so she will garner more passengers. Didn't she ask Paige where she lived because she has more appearances coming up? Maybe she is planning on doing the book signings once her new book comes out? Perhaps she is waiting until her contract with TLC ends so that she can announce it so that TLC will not be allowed to share in the profits with her? Also, why this newfound interest in Roma Downey? Methinks she is up to something but we will have to wait until after February to see.

150- I disagree. I think Kate and her publicist are on a fishing expedition to see what, if anything, she is qualified to do. Of course, travel was one of Kate's main interests, so I guess the cruise and the Bermuda dinner were high up on the list, and she is giving this a try, albeit on the back of her fans, with her appearance fees.
I think it is safe to say, this woman has ZERO boundaries, as she cajoles "fans" to sign up, with little concern for their personal circumstances. As long as her cruise cabin is covered/comped, and she makes money off the elevated travel costs passed on her to her fans, she gets to travel, and could not care less about her fans.
Her contract with TLC is over. There does not appear to be any books in the works, in spite of her stating she would like to write another one.
I do agree, however, her tweets with Roma Downey are suspect. But it could be Kate reaching out to try to get a "child brand" out there for DVDs of her kids. Who knows with her; she is desperate and grasping for any straw that comes along and testing out new projects, as she has no job. Especially anything to do with travel. She has made it clear that traveling several times a month is a priority.
Honestly, everything she touches turns to crap, so I am doubtful that anything she attempts is going to bring her any great success as a career.

I don't think she has anything big in the works at all. If she thought she had a big paycheck coming up (ie a new book or TV show), then why did she refinance her house and take money out? Her first mortgage was for 9 or 10 years, so she could have had the house paid off in less than 7 years if she had the money coming in. But she refinanced to a 30-year mortgage, which means that she needed a lower monthly payment, even though it would take 30 yrs to pay off. That's not what you would do if you had a new, large source of income. She has kept awfully quiet about the refinancing, which shows that she doesn't want to address her dwindling finances. How can the Sheeple convince themselves that we are all jealous if it's publicly known that her money is running out?

My last cruise was to Sweden, and even though the stops were lovely, I was not impressed with my "luxury cruise". Stuck in a cramped (although spacious for a cruise line) cabin, seasick, claustrophobic, just waiting for the next stop so I could get out of that floating hotel. To me, it was like being at a hotel whee you are locked in, and only let out on specific day to to specific things. No, thanks. And let's not even start with trying to convince the hubby and kids that the Kate cruise is what we should be doing for our summer vacation. I'd never live it down. To all here: my main reason for going to see James Marsters and the other fandoms I was in was: 1. going to to something I liked, 2. meeting others who like the same thing you like, 3. besides the M & G/convention/get to gether, I went to see the city the event was in(traveling), 4. most of the time it was a group rate at the hotels, 5. shared a room with someone I know, 6. safety in travel(especially if you are traveling alone). That is why I went to a lot of the cities, the actor/singers were at. I did not just go there to see them, hang outside their room, hang in the lobby to see if they will walk by, but to see the city also. Most of the places I went to, I rented a car(I like to drive), most of the other fans did not drive, at all.

There is a population of washed up has-been, D-listers who seem to have found a way to generate income to support their lifestyles. They market themselves the same way we're seeing Kate with her late-nite infomercial for Ab-something, her invite to the marathon in Las Vegas, and even her CC 'job' which is nothing more than the company using her name & 'celeb status' to gain hits (and hopefully prestige if the celeb was good & her name was worth anything -- too bad Kate's isn't worth crap) or perhaps investors. IMO she was never hired to write a blog about couponing & that's why she never talks about it.
Anyway, I don't know why companies pay these people the outrageous amounts, but they do and it's enough for them to live on. The celebs are happy whoring themselves out for these below mediocre jobs and the company is happy because they continue to do it.

I noticed some of those functions with Kate on the cruise have the word optional. Who is it optional for? Kate, I'm guessing?
Doesn't matter, as I've said I really doubt many of her handful of fans can go without robbing a bank and losing their jobs.
If she did take a late night or early morning flight to the CC conference in LV, I'm laughing. Why? Well, they obviously didn't pay for her to come out early and have a couple extra nights in the hotel before the conference started. Which means I doubt they agreed to pay for an extra couple of nights tacked on to the end. The conference is today, tomorrow and Tuesday. She'll be back at the orphanage Tuesday night unless she finally agrees to dip into her own pockets to get a couple extra days away from the kids.

Well, geez, they are pushing it as a fun-filled family vacation, bring the kids, and it's being held in August. Don't most families with kids take their vacations in June and July and get the children ready to go back to school in August? Don't most kids go back to school in mid-August? There wasn't much planning or forethought that went into this.
In addition, families with kids are not going to shell out nine thousands dollars for a one-week cruise in hurricane season, knowing that the trip might not take place depending on the weather. It's too risky. Plus, there's the unbearable heat at that time of year.
The only ones who might be interested in this are the retired single women who adore Kate. They'll have to pay a surcharge for the bargain cabin if they choose to be alone. If not, they'll have to room with a total stranger. Who wants to spend their vacation sharing a cabin with someone they've never met?
I'm amazed that these sheeple don't realize that they are paying nearly a thousand dollars just to see Kate! They seem to think that this is the price of the cruise, Kate makes nothing from it, and that she's doing it just because her fans are her friends. They are totally clueless.

There has to be one, but I don't have the desire to call and suss it out, as "Hello Alice Travel, we are seriously interested in the Kate Cruise (except I would be laughing too hard to do this), but before I commit $$$ and buy trip insurance, what are the real numbers needed to make this happen, and how many other fans are already signed up (again, laughing too hard to choke 'fans' out).

I agree that attending conventions, etc. can be a good way to see other parts of the country, meet interesting people with similar interests, and the like. I've attended a few cons myself - Media Westcon, Bouchercon when it was in Indianapolis a few years ago, and a Stargate con in Chicago a couple of years ago. I was mostly thinking of the obsessed fans, like the ones you mentioned in your first post, and some of Kate's obsessed Tweeple/Sheeple. I'm sorry if I offended you.

Dallas Lady 168 -- Maybe the optional means that there's an additional fee for the event? A couple of business conferences I've attended have had "optional" sessions that weren't included in the registration fees, and that was how they worked. You had to pay an additional fee to attend and attendance was usually limited to a small number of people.

Obviously the cruise line is okay with using Kate to try and book the ship; no skin off their backs, as long as they get their standard fee. And in the worst possible time to book a cruise- extreme heat and hurricane season. They have nothing to lose.
Kate is being used to try and book trips by the Cruise Line/Travel agent, while SHE is trying to use fans to book a more expensive trip to cover her comped cabin and earn some "commission" off every person that attends. I predict a dismal forecast on how many fans will book with Alice, as opposed to standard fare.
We never did hear much about her lunch auction in Australia - makes one wonder how her "private" appearances will fare as "marketable" and whether she will be invited back due to lack of interest. Kate really does not have a clue. Prediction- Another dismal failure, as Kate really does not understand her fan base. And really does not care, as long as they pay to see her.
If she did fly to LV last night, that would have been a late flight! If she was home to "feed" dinner (what's with that? When I hear "feed", I think of a zoo or maybe farm animals), then drive to Philadelphia, which is at least an hour, and then check in an hour or two ahead of her flight. Maybe she dumped their dinner on the table, shot off a quick tweet, and ran out the door to a waiting car. She loves playing games, and she was probably cackling with glee, thinking she just threw the "haters" for a loop.

If they book outside Alice, they are going to have a rude awakening on the ship when they try to get into these "private" events. Unless security is very loosey-goosey when it comes to checking event passes (or badges) then they will only to able to gaze at her from afar.

Last time time Oil dropped below $65 barrel was around Oct. 2008 and I doubt it will dip below that price before this cruise.

I am a member of Cruise Critic and checked out the "Roll Call" for this cruise. The Roll Call is where any members who will be on a particular cruise can "meet" online and schedule activities etc in advance of the cruise. So far for this cruise date there are only 2 members posting on the roll call board and one additional person posted a note that Kate is scheduled to be on board. So far no comments after that post. If anything major gets posted will let you know.

Kate still doesn't get it; she DID have a lot of attention at one time and could have turned that into a positive but ruined every opportunity she was given. The biggest one: the Walmart deal she lost right after the divorce was announced could have sustained her forever if she had played her cards right. She could have been a poster child for divorcing and coparenting with grace. Lots of women would have related to that. No one gets the middle aged, no waisted, liposuctioned, orange, botoxed, weave-wearing, husband abusing and stealing, child abandoning, I'm rich/I'm poor, idiotic wanna be Hollywood persona she puts out there. She does that to those kids quite frequently. Just this past Halloween, she let Mady and Cara go trick-or-treating with friends and the tups didn't get to do anything. The day after Halloween, Khate remembered that they didn't have any candy and so she brought them some marked-down candy. They spent the day after Halloween in school, listening to their friends' stories about going trick-or-treating the night before.

It closed at $101 this week. It is predicted to go higher in the spring and summer, possibly as high as $120, but who knows...they've been wrong before. I can't imagine, though, that it's going to drop far enough that there won't be a fuel surcharge on this trip. Imagine the sheeple's surprise when they go to settle their account and find an additional $490 they have to pay. For a couple, there goes another grand!
