Turkey of the year again goes to Kate, especially for the way she's relentlessly trashed Jon almost every chance she got this year.
Diana Mercer, who has been practicing divorce law as both an attorney and mediator since 1988 (she has handled an astounding 4,000 divorces), wrote an excellent article published last year explaining why Jon and Kate need to call a truce. What she had to say a year ago stil rings true today:
The best predictor of how kids do post-divorce is the amount of conflict between the parents. It takes two to tango. Kate's finger-pointing is a bigger problem than whatever Jon is up to. If he can't be father of the year, then it's up to her to figure out how to work with that -- and vice versa. When they're old enough, they'll see what Mom said about Dad and form their own opinions. Kate's strategy of "I'm good; he's bad" will likely backfire on her in the long run. hmm. I was reading the Vegas marathon website. Sounds like the course is easy-it says flat. I also saw this bit of info:
If a participant’s pace falls below the course time limit, they have a few options:
Increase their pace to stay within the event minimum pace;
Board a “sag wagon” shuttle to move forward on the course, where they may continue to participate in the event, maintaining the minimum pace required; or
If the participant cannot continue, they may board a sag wagon to be dropped off at the next shuttle location, at a nearby medical station. The participant will be seen by a Medical Team captain to be cleared for the medical shuttle to transport the participant to the finish line.
I bet Kate catches that sag wagon yet claims she did the whole thing.
While some stars are touching, truthful and honest, I do not ever see Kate owning up to anything. I don't see a narcissist doing that. Kate is so far into herself...kind of find it hard for her to even want to go back to be even a bit of who she might have been before TV.
She wants TV,she will always want her fancy career, control of her kids and will never admit to having done anything wrong. To her as long as it's attention...

If you dared to brave the onslaught of bargain seekers on Black Friday, good for you! But I have to admit that I won’t be fighting for the last one of this year’s hottest toys.
Seven years ago, during the holiday season of 2004, I found myself housebound with eight children, ages 4 years and 6 months. You read correctly: 2 ages but 8 kids! As you can imagine, money was extremely scarce, as were resources and time.
In my very limited spare time, between endless bottles and uncountable diaper changes, I found myself learning all about the world of Internet shopping. It just made sense to me – the last thing I wanted to do was bundle up 2 young children and 6 babies and head to a crowded mall. Even better, I discovered over that first Thanksgiving weekend as a family of ten, that sales on Cyber Monday not only beat the crowds, but also beat the sales on Black Friday.
I remember wanting to buy the babies something meaningful for their first Christmas. They didn’t really need anything and certainly couldn’t open gifts at their ages, but I’m very traditional about memory making so I started shopping online for classic stockings for each of them. It took a lot of clicking (research!) and sale watching, but on that Monday following the Thanksgiving weekend, I was able to find a great deal on Pottery Barn monogrammed stockings for each of them. I was thrilled!

I remember learning at some point in my life that if the word "he" could be used in the sentence, then "whoever" is the correct word. "Him" would mean "whomever" is correct. So in Kate's sentence, you could say "he sent the huge wall painting . . ." So, "whoever sent . . . " is correct. You wouldn't say, "him sent the huge wall painting," so you wouldn't use "whomever." Does that sound right? Maybe it wouldn't work in every situation, but I use it as a rule of thumb.

Funny, I have 5 friends running the same marathon. They are all good runners and should have good times. But, it is no big deal, no count down. In fact, just ran into one of the friends and said.. I heard you are running Las Vegas, and she said.. yep, I hope my calf loosens up by then. There are so many marathons around, that Kate should not be on a pedestal just because she can run 26 miles. She is on her own pedestal. Prediction: 4:45 marathon.

The people who do hang around her do so for reasons I can't fathom but it is what it is and at some point they will likely get burned and move on. The only ones I care about and feel bad for are her kids.
Kate is their mom and they love her. But it would be interesting to see how they view her when they become adults.
I believe Kate will run in the marathon because she 'never backs down, never says die'. That is her mantra and by golly, she will never let her nay sayers get to her. LOL

For those who have discussed recipes, I found another website www.melskitchencafe.com that has really good recipes. I made the mac-n--cheese for T-giving, it was wonderful and creamy. I am making the chicken corn chowder tonight. She posts recipes, gives a little backstory, and responds to almost all comments posted. A wonderful site. I want to try the pumpkin black bean chili (what a hearty combo)!

If Kate is running the marathon with two new friends, it will be the biggest coincidence in the history of that event, because Rock-n-Roll asks you to predict your time and they put you in a corral with like-minded runners. Only a few hundred to a corral. So she will either blow off her corral number and jump into any one she pleases (would not surprise, would it?) or will be holding someone up or expecting them to bust their corral number. She doesn't know this but if you are determined to finish in your corral's set time, they have a pacer and you just run with them. A ton of people do that. So you're not running alone at all.

Here I am to call bullshit on Kate's running again. Per her new blog she ran the 20 miles at a 10:54 pace but was able to run the 10 miles at an 8 minute pace? yeah right!
Also, her training schedule sucks, she ran 10, then 18, then 20 and she is just tapering this week? taper begins about 3 weeks before the marathon, with the week prior you run basically nothing.
Also, running 8 miles in her driveway? bullshit! and if the kids really did make all those signs for her why didnt she put up a picture of them? oh thats right, because they dont exist.
I would expect a before the marathon post to be about prep, what she is packing, what nutrition she is planning for race day, etc. thats what runners talk about in the days before a marathon.
As far a showing the kids that hard work is important, I find thsi hilarious since the only ones who work hard in that family are the kids.
Oops, sorry for the double message but I just thought I'd add that I do wonder when she will leave for vegas. I have kids too and when I ran the vegas half marathon I left early on Saturday, got to Vegas around noon, went to the expo to pick up my packet, had dinner, ran the race the next day and was a plane back home by 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Does Steve count as one of her friends that she is running with.?

Funny how there are pap photos of her the day after Thanksgiving but no pap shots on Thanksgiving to see if Steve showed up. Proves to me that she controls the pap issue. As a pap, I would be be chomping at the bit to get a shot of Steve there on a holiday. Or maybe Steve was the pap on Friday? Looks like whoever took the photos followed them from store to store and there are shots of her on the property too. My money is that Steve is the pap.

I have to mention for anyone reading who is not familiar with the Gosselin's history of having help when the tups were born, listen up-- Kate had a full time nurse for the first year of the tups' life and a village of faithful, selfless volunteers who provided support.
I don't doubt it would be been very difficult for Kate to get out of the house much, but don't believe for a minute that she and Jon did it all alone.

You might want to add that the nurse was state-paid, not Gosselin paid.
Her articles are pretty sad, even though they are much, much better than her own blog. At least they are readable. I do agree, though, that all the personal references are there for the entertainment of the people who can't get enough of Kate Gosselin. Curious - what kind of a dog did Angelina have for the kids? A German Shepherd?
Big bulldog that belongs to Brad Pitt named Jacque. Was rumored to have partially eaten a famous painting hanging in their chalet in France. Saw the interview, was really cute how the dog licked the camera.
Now Jolie and her mother are real mothers. None of the kids were photographed for the 60 mins interview, don't even see them running around in the background somewhere. And I found it very touching when she choked up talking about her mom and how much she did for her children.

Funny, I have 5 friends running the same marathon. They are all good runners and should have good times. But, it is no big deal, no count down. In fact, just ran into one of the friends and said.. I heard you are running Las Vegas, and she said.. yep, I hope my calf loosens up by then. There are so many marathons around, that Kate should not be on a pedestal just because she can run 26 miles. She is on her own pedestal. Prediction: 4:45 marathon.

I've been thinking the same thing. It's so obnoxious how Khate and her adoring sheeple think she is some superwoman now that she's a "runner". Big freaking deal. They all act as if Khate is the only person in the world who has taken up running and she deserves constant accolades for it. I can only imagine the sickening gushing they will do for about a week after she completes the marathon. I do think she will complete it, one way or another. We'll never know the real deal, as in whether she hitched a ride most of the way.
I really don't think Khate should be very proud of the fact that she jumped into this sport so half-assed, and STILL has hardly any knowledge at all about running or marathon prep. It's more than apparent that she still hasn't even bothered to read one book, even though that runner sheeple shipped a freebie to her around the time she left for Australia. Plus, I guess she's too busy tweeting to even bother to check out some running websites for info. She just wants everyone on Twitter to help her, give her tips, tell her what she should do. She has not prepared well at all, hasn't even been running in 5 K's or 10 K's, yet is jumping in now doing a full marathon. I firmly believe that she is doing it only for "bragging rights", which is why she does a lot of things. Little does she know, nobody but her moronic sheeple will be impressed.
I'm also disgusted at the fact that this narcissistic witch constantly talks about how proud her kids are of her, how they support her and cheer her on. She has this so backwards, it's incredible. I just have never in my life seen a mother like this. She spends NO time or energy on her kids' endeavors. It is all about HER, always has been, always will be.
As for the coupon blog, I also noticed that it seems heavily edited. I did notice the then/than error, which drives me nuts. I guess the recent college grads working at the coupon site haven't mastered that one yet. I agree that her blogs at the coupon site are lame and not very useful. I'm surprised they had her do a little blog about the facelift rumors. That seems wildly inappropriate for their site, and more like something she should post at her own personal site. Her blog about Cyber Monday is chock full of blather about her and her oh so difficult life, as usual. Who cares? It's supposed to be a coupon site giving tips on shopping deals. They have other blog posts there that are better. Khate's blog adds nothing to their site, so we can only conclude that she was brought in to give them hits from her "fan base". The coupon site will soon find out that she has a very tiny fan base that was not worth it at all. I still think this was a very limited gig for her, probably originally planned for just the holiday season. If she remains there long after the New Year, I'd be very surprised.
Ugh, I'm not going to her site to see her latest blog. I'll wait for someone to post it here, or for it to be available on Google's cache.

gramof5, I agree we can get pedantic about Kate's writing. I always give the benefit of the doubt with posts here and tweets-- just about anywhere that you can not go back and correct once you smack your head and realize your mistakes. What can you do?
But, and it's a big but, Kate has authored 3 books and I can not believe that she has been through that arduous process and still comes out the other end not knowing the difference between the use of "then" and "than", and when to use "me" vs. "I".
There is a certain lack of pride in one's writing when you have a blog and entries on Coupon Cabin and continue to submit a level of writing that has so many elementary mistakes in addition to being pedestrian and unsophisticated in style.
To question-talk like Kate, I'll ask, "is that harsh?". Yes.
But, I can tell you from having written professionally, on my own blog and on other people's blogs, it is a serious undertaking and my worst fear was, and still is, coming across looking like a dilettante.
I wonder if Kate's CouponCabin.com blogs are submitted with exclamation points after every sentence. That must be so annoying to change, although easy to do with search and replace. But I'm glad they change them because it's annoying to read an exclamation point after every sentence.

I'm also struck by her insistence that the kids exist to cheer HER on. It's so strange, and so backwards to what parenting is supposed to be about.
Of course my daughter has been proud of my accomplishments over the years (I received my master's when she was in sixth grade and she wrote me a sweet card congratulating me that I'll always cherish), but I've also cheered her on at soccer games, softball games, cross country races, chess tournaments (quietly cheering in that case, LOL). I congratulated her on every Girl Scout badge and then attached them to her little vest.
In other words, I'm HER biggest fan. Not the other way around. Even if she's lying about the kids making signs and cheering her on around the driveway, it's still pretty telling that she would make up something like this. And it's not the first time she's said stuff like that. It's like she thinks the kids were born FOR her, to SERVE her, to support her, to be HER personal cheering squad.
Parenting is not supposed to be about you, though. You can take it too far and be a martyr parent, raising a kid who thinks the whole world revolves around them, but Kate is the other end of the spectrum: a narcissistic parent whose children exist only to praise and worship her.
It's so creepy and weird. Why aren't her kids pursuing their own interests?

Marie, Winsomeone is right, there ARE rides to the next pit stops on the race if you fall behind. I don't consider this cheating or a conspiracy. The marathon cannot run forever. It's a little help to help you finish so you don't have to drop out at mile 7 for a little leg cramp. However, if you do use a sag wagon to help you complete the race, it would not be acceptable in my view to claim that you completed a marathon, and I doubt your time will count towards a "place." It's for your own personal satisfaction to be able to stay in it.
Here are sag wagons explained on the marathon web site. Personally, I think it's a nice idea, as long as no one is claiming they did something they didn't:

Actually on second thought I wonder if sag wagons are a bad thing psychologically for runners. I wonder if some of them don't like them. This has probably been answered above, but the way to say it is "it was Jon's and my anniversary". It was my kids' and my first time
going to New Orleans. It's my mother's and my
favorite restaurant. Etc.
The trick is to disassemble the sentence. If you say "it was Jon's anniversary" and "it was my anniversary", then you can say it all together correctly.

Kate uses an app on her Pink iPhone to map her distance when she runs. I've used 3 different apps to map my walks and the GPS is not reliable for me. They tend to tell me that I have walked father than I really have. I wonder if hers are reliable with all of the woods in her area.

A little OT but my runner up for turkey of the year is RHBH and the way they showcased Taylor's and Russell's marriage counseling tonight. Tackey, tackey, tackey (but no, sadly, I won't stop watching).
Laurie I haven't watched yet but that's disappointing to hear. His family specifically requested he not be shown at all. They can't honor those wishes? Why was it so much more important to still show him? And shame on Taylor for not pulling out of the show and asking that Russell's footage go with her.
They didn't show Russel the first few episodes. Then they showed him briefly, and after that, a lot. As if they were trying to ease him in again. But we haven't forgotten. He committed suicide and talked about how stressful the show was just two weeks before.
By the way I bet TLC wouldn't blink and eye about filming Jon and Kate marriage counseling even if Jon didn't want it to be aired.

I watched RHBH last week for the first time. Taylor was drunk on a ski trip and crying about how horrible her marriage was.
The next episode (there were 2 back to back) someone had leaked some info about her problems to a tabloid. Taylor was complaining to Kyle and trying to figure out who the source was and revealed that everyone on her staff had signed a CA! Now, who does that sound like?
As an aside, she seemed shocked that Kyle didn't have here staff sign CAs. Kyle was quick to point out she doesn't have a staff!! Kyle does have a 'ladysitter', I thought that was a funny term for her assistant. I like Kyle.

3. She would be back on Tv and, getting paid.
4. She could blame Jon for eveything or all most everything.

In any event, just out of curiosity, what will happen if Kate is actually as good a runner as she claims and oh, I don't know...comes in first or decent in the end?
Yeah right...totally joking. After seeing pictures of the way she runs...no flipping way. I think she has confused shuffling her feet along with running. Two totally different things.

Those of you who "get" the phrase, "LOL out loud": Do you remember the episode where a marathon runner (and murderer!) attaches his chip to a motorcycle that was filming the marathon? If there's a TLC camera crew following Kate, I'll be suspicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I read the tweet about the white lights, I thought she was just being her typical, whiny self. I didn't realize she was grifting. Sigh. I wish she'd put as much time into nurturing her children, as she does trying to get freebies of every little thing she "needs."

Yes, she does. She has a live-in housekeeper and a nanny. Add that to her 'ladysitter' list who is her personal assistant and voila! She has staff!

I just found out my grandson's day care provider is running the LV half marathon. I'm going to send her a picture of K8 and see if she spots her and purse/water boy that day. Slim chance if there are thousands there but still...
Lynn W., the chances of your grandson's day care provider spotting Kate are slim. Not just thousands, but tens of thousands, run those events! I did it in Seattle and was only in corral 8 out of hundreds of corrals and I looked behind me when we moved up, saw the sea of endless humanity behind me, and went, "Whoa!" It made me very emotional. It'll be very easy to look up her times after the race, which will also reveal her bib number and people will be able to look up her pictures using the bib number on the official photographer's website in a week or so.
Kyle started working in Hollywood at age six. Kim, at age FOUR MONTHS. They spent their childhood in front of the camera.
Kim at times is a lost wreck, on various medications and has had issues with alcohol. Kyle does bully at times, but appears more stable than Kim. You have to wonder what role their entire warped childhoods played in the issues they are dealing with now.
Two posters on GWOP said they saw Kate on a Target TV commercial. Anyone seen this?
And I strongly believe CouponCabin purposely photoshopped Kate's appearance so it would get all the more attention. And it worked.
Kate tweeted this a.m. that she will be interviewed by Billy Bush today, so looks like she and Lover Boy are finding excuses to leave early for L.V. and have a marathon of their own.
The comment by the attorney is very profound and, unfortunately, pertains to many parents that refuse to cooperate with each other where their children are concerned. They are so hell-bent on being right and making the other parent look bad in the eyes of the children, that they pay no attention to the serious damage they are doing to the children. It is heartbreaking and one day children will find their voice and be able to express how they feel.....and the parents will end up dumbfounded and so hurt that the kids could possibly fell the way they do. Wake up Kate, and all parents engaging in this behavior...one day you will be old and alone and wonder why.
