I do wonder how was she going to go for a morning run when she has no sitter? Maybe Steve is still there?! It would be illegal for her to leave those kids alone while she went running! Why does she need a sitter? I thought she does everything by herself. No help at all!!

And the other one, walking in place, in spandex shorts at kate's gate.

Munching on 2 cloves of garlic.

Take pictures and sell them to the tabloids? Have expensive intimate meals with a divorced woman? Take fancy vacations?Play daddy? Yessiree, she is one lady in danger.

I'm thinking that if she had any kind of competent security whatsoever, they would have put a stop to her oversharing when she first started twitting.

I agree that she could be setting up some kind of publicity-worthy drama. I sure hope she doesn't come to regret playing fast and loose with the kids' safety.

I don't think Kate really wanted children, she just wanted babies to cuddle and only when SHE felt like cuddling them. Once they started walking and talking the thrill was gone for her.
**********************
I've had a theory for awhile.... I think K8 wanted children - badly enough to undergo fertility testing and treatment, which is no picnic. I think, though, she still can't quite wrap her head around the pregnancy and birth of the sextuplets, and sees them as people that are foreign objects. It always looks like she has not bonded with them, and I believe that is because of the unreal-like circumstances of their birth. I would not be surprised to learn that she is in some way repulsed by the idea of them (as in, a 'litter'?) due to the tremendous physiological changes she underwent in bearing them. I mean, she herself referred to her abdomen as "the jowls of the dog", so she certainly was grossed-out by her own body afterwards.

This is not to say I give her a pass, but it might explain her total lack of affection towards them, and her objectifying them. I am otherwise at a loss to understand her apparent lack of mothering ability.

Just an earthquake update from someone 40 miles from epicenter. There was a trash truck next to the building I was working in, so at first I thought the noise and vibration was from the truck - then it got louder and the vibration got stronger. We all ran to the door and went outside in the parking lot. One woman I work with has been in an earthquake before, she told us what it was. There was no damage around my house or work, only minor damage elsewhere in the city.
Despite the scary stuff the national news folks have been talking about, the North Anna Nuclear Power Plant is just fine, and the automatic shutdown went just as planned and their emergency power kicked in just as it is supposed to in emergency situation. I have several friends who live very close to the plant, and the plant has automated calls to nearby residents to update them on unusual situations, things like that.
One thing Virginia does REALLY right is emergency preparedness and drills regularly, so we were as ready as could be for something like this. And here I was getting my hurricane emergency supplies ready!
The US Geologic Survey folks have already detected two minor aftershocks, too minor for people to feel. There are inspections going on to make sure buildings and gas lines and things like that are safe. There is some geologic reason why earthquakes on the east coast are felt so far away from the epicenter.
Exciting afternoon at work!

Joy, I actually thought of you today because I figured from your previous posts that we both live in Central Virginia. I'm about 30 miles from the epicenter as the crow flies.

We were in the "strong zone" of shocks, and it was terrifying. I thought my son had caused an explosion upstairs! I went running to find him. He didn't answer, and I panicked. Then I saw him out on the riding mower. Our house shook from floor to ceiling, window panes, the desk, knick knacks, everything--and it took me 15 minutes stop trembling afterward.

No one alive today remembers the east coast's last big quake (also in Virginia) unless they're more than 114 years old with a darn good memory! That's why it was so hard for us to fathom what was happening. We just don't have earthquakes. Now, on to getting ready for the possible hurricane.

My daughter has a September birthday. So far, we've had hurricanes, the flood from Gaston, the DC snipers (who struck VERY near our home), 9/11 and...now almost an earthquake for her birthday.

I'm glad to hear that all was well for you, Joy, and that few tragedies occurred from today's quake.

Just saw new promo clip for next week's RV trip episode and Ashley is telling Kate, to her face, that she is "more than happy to leave as she is sick of her dramatics". The narrator says, "As their road trip begins, Kate's world starts to crumble." It might be editing but this clip makes it seem like drama was occurring as early as their visit to Mt. Rushmore.

So the earlier spat on the previous clip is not Ashley vs. Jamie.

Have any of you seen Toddlers and Tiaras or a new show called Dance Moms?

Holy smokes...... talk about child exploitation and out of control moms.......

I watched a part of each one but the bile started to rise in my throat and I switched channels......

Maybe there are blogs devoted just to those shows, but I'm not seeking them out. I feel so badly for those kids!!!!

Another OT topic - that mom who made her 4 year old drink tabasco hot sauce for punishment was convicted of child abuse today. Apparently she thought he was misbehaving, she made a video which she sent into a reality tv show and got on the show..... I think the details are right.

I saw a headline on foxnews.com and cnn.com.

Kate Gosselin claiming she has a security team is HILARIOUS. I doubt Purse Boy is even around anymore. Why would he be? He was just a handler and TLC hardly cares how she comes across anymore now that the show is cancelled and they've washed their hands of her.

What a liar she is.

Twitter might get really interesting after that last episode airs. What oh what will she ever do?

Oh and I finally found Hodge Podge Dinner on Youtube. Part of me just couldn't BELIEVE that 7 year olds would still be sitting in high chairs.

THEY ARE! Oh my God, I was SO embarrassed for them! I wonder if they catch shit at school from other kids. STILL sitting in restaurant-style baby chairs. I suddenly felt so terribly sad for them. :( Why in the world can't they sit in regular chairs? They seem to sit on the white couch just fine. They can sit at barstools at the kitchen counter, for crying out loud. But she can't get them normal dining room chairs? What the hell is wrong with her? Or does she just not give a crap?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Not to mention, that poor sheeple seems to have her emergencies confused. You go in the basement for tornadoes, not earthquakes! For earthquakes they used to tell you to stand in a doorframe during an earthquake. Now they're saying crouch down wherever you are, cover your head, and if you are near a "void" try to get there. For instance if you are on your couch, crouch beside the couch (but not under) at a lower level than the couch, because if anything falls, it will likely hit the couch first which could protect you.

A 5.8 or 5.9 was our last biggest earthquake out here a couple summers ago and that's the biggest I've ever felt since I've been here. I know there are earthquakes tons worse but man alive was I scared out of my mind during that. I remember being in a hallway and my coworker and I looking at each other like, Is this the big one? LOL, we still laugh at the memory of each other's freaked out faces, but it was over in 10 seconds and we all knew we were okay. Hope everyone is okay and that your freak-out moment was as brief as mine.

Saw that earlier too and thought Ashley actually was talking to Jamie in the promo. Did you see her actual face because all I saw was blonde hair. They made if appear as if she was yelling at Kate but it was really Jamie. That's what it looked like to me anyway.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

To me it doesn't matter if it was Ashley or Jamie. TLC has no respect for the special relationship between these kids and their nanny, and it's shameful of Kate to allow this to be aired.

Ashley is a NANNY. Not a babysitter, not a helper, not a friend, not a best friend. She is the children's NANNY and that's a special thing. Kate needs to give her the respect she is due by calling her a nanny, and not allowing a private conflict with her children's nanny and someone they love and respect to be exploited.

They've learned absolutely nothing from the Russell Armstrong tragedy. Don't they get it? Throwing somebody under the bus finally caused a suicide.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't believe for one MILLISECOND that TLC actually forks over one dime for a "security team" for Kate to monitor her twats!!! Maybe they might call in the IT security for THE ENTIRE NETWORK, the one guy who works part time contracted, to check out a threat or something. But this idea there is a bunker below TLC offices with Kate's team in suits and shades and ear pieces busily going through each tweet, twat by tweet? HAHAHHAHA. Baw-hahahhaah.

What did that person say on the Grapevine? Bitch, please.

Here in the farmland of Lancaster County, we're just not used to earthquakes! Occasionally a cow will pass out from the heat and cause the ground to shake a bit, but that's about it. This was something to remember! This wasn't just a little bit of shaking, but the ground actually moved and I've read reports that in the southern part of the county, people saw their cars shaking in their driveways to the point they thought that they were going to flip over; chairs and sofas actually moving, and dishes falling out of cabinets.
Very strange for here. Tornadoes, earthquakes, and maybe a hurricane this weekend. Armageddon? I'm waiting for the swarm of locust...

By the way - are all sheeple really stupid? Are there any intelligent ones among the flock?

Really??? We recently relocated to N. VA (military family), and it was pure traffic mayhem in and around Arlington/Alexandria this afternoon. People just seemingly bumping into each other in pure confusion -- and not a single police officer or other civil servants there for any guidance. Even scarier, the Pentagon seemed to have no firm emergency plan in place (hubby works there, so I got a firsthand account of the mass confusion). Perhaps VA needs to update their "drills" because I saw NO sign of any readiness ANYWHERE today.

Flight of the Dodo said...

In "honor" of the cancellation news I respectfully change my posting name to Flight of the Dodo - hoping the whole concept of Kate + 8 becomes extinct. pfffft

My head is spinning, eyes blurry and a headache trying to catch up!

This woman had TLC, People Magazine and heck, even Barbara Walters telling her she had "it". Heavens know those people and quite a few others tried. From what the public has seen on film, quite a few of them don't feel that SHE tried. Exhibit A - DWTS. Exhibit B - Kate + 8. If THAT's pouring oneself into something, well, OMGoodness, how'd that work out for ya?

I doubt Kate has immediate financial worries - but hopefully has enough sense to get her ducks in a row (every frikken pun anyone can think of intended). EVERY child DESERVES a silver (golden, sigh) platter, how wonderful her 8 have such a lovely large home and luxuries for however long they do, but if they have to scale back, it is the love that is important not the things. If they have to scale back they will be fine as long as they have love. Their NEEDS should be met. If THAT is in jeopardy after all of this AND if all those frill were NOT comped but were simply self-indulgences or Kate's perceived "business" needs, well then...

But those are her concerns. IMO it's just crass for her to hint, outright ask or even accept "gifts" from fans under the mistaken belief that she is destitue. Would be so for ME to do so. But, being crass, along with rude, is something she finds quite funny so hint, ask and accept she probably will. At some point one of those "givers" will want something more than a tweet. There might not be a "security team" around to help. Her security team might just do well to remind her over-zealous fans factored into that decision to hire security. Oh that she would be well read enough to understand the "fan" relationship with regard to Sharon Tate, John Lennon, Jodie Foster, Brad Pitt, David Letterman, etc. Wacko haters exist as well, roll them all together and there you have it - the number one reason why NOT to put your children and all their private moments for public consumption/entertainment. If it's a problem for adult ACTUAL celebrities, then...

OK. Back to the dodo nest for awhile ;)

Anonymous said...

She has admitted she left the kids alone before, she does this. She even did it when they were little kids and one of the girl tups seriously injured herself and needed stitches they never knew how she did it, this was all in her own book. Well, duh, because you can't leave your kid alone!

She doesn't have a protective bone in her body. If Jon tweeted something like this Kate would have him dragged to court so fast for neglect.

______________________

See, if Kate does this, the sheeple say that she's tired and stressed, and needs some "Mommy Time." But of course if Jon would do it, it'd be neglect. Why can't they see the double standard and hypocrisy? Are they really that dumb?

I was watching What Not To Wear and saw the new promo clip mentioned above.

Ted Gibson just brought back the infamous "reverse mullet" hair-do.

New Promo Clip -
Narration: "As their road trip begins,"
Scene of Kate driving RV with the sextuplets, Ashley(?) and mystery person (not Jamie or Steve) in back.

Kate and kids surrounding picnic table in RV camping grounds.
Kate: "Who wants to see Mt. Rushmore?"
Shot of Mt. Rushmore from previous clip.

Narration: "Kate's world starts to crumble."
Scene of Kate, standing in front of RV, with a shocked open-mouth look clutching her iphone.

Scene of Ashley sitting in RV talking out the window to a blonde woman, who resembles Kate more than Jamie in my opinion. The hand gesture is a typical Kate mannerism similar to admin's header pic above except palm is up, not down. This woman's hair is as long as Kate's and her body frame seems more like Kate than Jamie's. I could be wrong, but this is my assumption.
Ashley: "I am more than happy to leave. I am so sick of your dramatics."

Thank you, TiVo.

Then they show her over near a horse stall doing something with wood. She says something along the line of "When I got up this morning I had no idea this would be part of my day."

Nannies build chicken coops and doors? I thought nannies took care of children. They might also help the children take care of the dog. But building things out in the barn?

I guess it makes sense in Kate's world. Body guards carry packages and purses while wearing flip flops, friends tell you only what you want to hear, tweeters tell you you're fabulous, and nannies help you build a chicken coop. Why not?

I'm sure it's not just me, I find it often very awkward to accept goods for people let alone ask for help from anyone. It's not pride really. I just don't want anyone feeling obligated to spend their hard-earned money especially I things I don't need or can get myself. A friend of mine is moving and knew I was looking for a desk and wanted to give me her lovely desk. She won't let me pay for it and I feel bad just taking it for nothing. I'm going to work out something where I take her out for dinner or something before she leaves.

I thought this was a normal reaction to not really want to get gifts let alone ask for things. Seems to me that's how most people react. But Kate has ZERO shame or pride or anything.

It has been reported that the mother who was convicted of child abuse for feeding hot sauce to her child did it to get on the Dr. Phil show AFTER being told that the audition tape she sent in first did not show her being horrible enough to her children. From the Anchorage Daily News:

Begin Quote:

Beagley wrote an email to the show's producers in April 2009 in an effort to get on a segment titled "Angry Moms," Franklin said. But the producers didn't respond to Beagley until October 2010, the prosecutor said.

"The 'Dr. Phil' show suddenly contacted Jessica Beagley, out of the blue," Franklin said. "They said, 'We're doing another show. Are you still angry?' The evidence shows that she said yes."

Producers from the show asked Beagley for videos, then told her the first clips she sent them didn't show her punishing the boy, Franklin said. It wasn't enough to get her on TV, so when the boy acted out in school, Beagley was ready with the hot sauce and a Flip video camera, the prosecutor said.

"This wasn't about getting help. This was about being on TV," Franklin said. "It's not about him, it's about Jessica [the mother]."

End Quote.

It's all about the mother, and her need for attention. Sound familiar? I'm beginning to think that it would be a stupendous idea if laws were passed preventing the filming of children for ANY reality show.

I sure can't think of one good reason why ANY of these children should be held hostage to their parents' sick, sick needs.

He's low-balling it. For $250,000, I can see why anyone would put an offer on that house unseen. We've seen the inside on the episodes; we know that she's put in a new kitchen, the pool must be in decent shape and in working condition. I'd add the leather sofa to the list of things that stay!

But, I agree with you. I've done several property inspections before I've bought homes, as well as having my own architect/builder there to make sure everything was done right and according to code. In addition, I have home inspections done by certified companies. He knows she's not even going to look at this offer, so to make it seem more enticing, he's making an offer with no strings attached, other than it being contingent on owner financing.

I'd buy that house with a market value of $650,000 for $250,000 sight unseen, and turn around and flip it.

And if she's running while the kids are asleep, that can be just as dangerous!!! What if they wake up and need her and are disoriented? What if something terrible happens like heaven forbid a 10 year old tries to feed her brothers and sisters and starts a stove fire?

Our community had such a thing happen when the mother went outside to milk the cows. Seven children died; only one survived:

A deadly fire at a farmhouse near Harrisburg, Pa., killed seven children overnight as their mother milked cows in the barn and their father napped in his truck a short distance away.

Investigators believe the fire broke out after 10 p.m., about 15 minutes after the father, Theodore Clouse, left for a milk delivery. The mother, Janelle Clouse, had just gone to the barn to milk cows. One child, the couple's 3-year-old daughter, who had been watching television, smelled smoke and ran out to the barn to alert her mother.

Janelle Clouse unsuccessfully tried to get back into the house, and frantically banged on the windows. She ran to a neighbor's house, but no one answered the door, so she tried another neighbor's house and called 911 from there.

They then found the father, who had fallen asleep in his truck between milk deliveries. They woke him, and he returned to the house to find it engulfed in flames.

The county coroner said smoke inhalation killed all seven children -- six daughters and one son, who ranged in age from 7 months to 11 years."

Kate and Mission Nursing? Really Kate? Is there anything that she doesn't have on her wish or bucket list? And Kate, it would help if you had a caring, servants heart. Which we all know you do not have even an ounce.

Besides, you have 8 kids who need a mother, even a bad one like you, so you can't go traveling around the amount of time it would take for missions and be there for your kids. Just won't work.

Who buys a house sight unseen? Just because it has a barn? Believe me, I walked through every single room, checked out every single closet and cupboard myself and got a home inspector out there before I bought my house.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A lot of horse people care more about the horse facilities than the house they will live in, especially if they are into breeding their horses and it will be the stud fees that will be paying the mortgage.
As for not seeing the house, that is really not the case anyway since it has been used in a lot of scenes.
For the record I'm the one who made the offer on the property based upon zillow's zestimate, and if Kate wants to sell you better believe that the formal purchase contract will stipulate that the house will have to be inspected, and any extra lighting for filming purposes will have to be removed and repaired to my satisfaction, etc.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Mickey wait YOU made the offer? How do you make an offer on a house not on the market? I mean I suppose anyone can make an offer on anything at any time but there's really no real estate agent to communicate with is there? Just strikes me as a little random.
I do think you're right though I would make an offer on a house sight unseen if I knew enough about it, and knowing that I could always back out if inspections didn't go well. Even if an offer is accepted doesn't mean it's a done deal by any means.
As in diseases that have germs?
As in NO 4 star hotels with limo service, wine, air conditioning, clean drinking water, local medical facilities, no twitter, no cell phone service......
Um....... why am I not buying this?
Why am I thinking we are being manipulated to increase chatter?
Here it does, unless the offer is contingent upon obtaining financing and the financing doesn't go through, or if the property inspection discloses defects that the seller isn't willing to fix, or reduce the price by the cost of the repairs. Once an offer is accepted, it's darn hard to get out of it. A seller can clean your clocks if you make a clean offer with no contingencies, it is accepted, and then you back out.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Oh really didn't know PA was that strict....here contracts dissolve out all the time if you can't agree on inspections.
I'm guessing though if you only offered 219 for this property you're not going to care if it's a shack. This property is by no means a million dollar property, but you're getting a steal for the 200-range. Likely Kate would crumple it up though and put it in the garbage. Kate's castle only worth 200? Puh-shaw!
You do realize that Zillow's estimate is way, way off, don't you?
Why would anyone do something like this? It's an insult to Kate, and I'm surprised and disappointed that WG even published it on the blog. Enough is enough. Kate is what she is, but she doesn't deserve this.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
I kind of tend to agree with Moose, the offer is insulting. Keep in mind this is the property the children bought. They are the ones going to be hurt by this. If Kate has to sell this at a loss, my heart is going to hurt, because it's yet another example of the way their funds have been abused, misused, pissed away, and so on. Being a participant in the children getting screwed once again seems wrong.
I get uncomfortable when fans and non-fans alike insert themselves so directly into this drama.
She's such a c word said... So what's the sheeple excuse this week why ratings fell?
--------------------------------
It's TLC's fault - they aired it. If they wouldn't have aired it, the ratings wouldn't be low and we wouldn't be having these problems! (snark)
It's Jon's fault - he has a secret movie deal with the company that compiles the ratings; they make Kate look bad so Jon can make more money off his movie and they split the profit. (snark)
It's Ellen's fault - I know someone who heard from someone who knows someone that Steve once scooped poo for, that Ellen took her dogs out for a walk at the exact time Kate's show came on; the dogs barked on purpose and disrupted the TV viewing of the entire half of the nation. (snark)
I think I might be getting this sheeple-think down pat now.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
The sheeple actually starting hating on TLC about nine months ago, I think around about the time that the Sarah Palin crossover aired they finally realized what we've been saying all along, that TLC is heartless and tacky and doesn't give one rip about Kate or this family. Duh, they are a business.
Now apparently they are saying TLC shouldn't let Kate go like this. For once, I think the sheeple are right. It is shameful of TLC to send Kate out like this using her nanny drama as the big bombshell. They ...are....USING HER. It's lucky Kate is getting any kind of sendoff at all but this is just going to be a drama fest to squeeze out a few more ratings and then kick her to the curb. Security team to bread lines and they could care less.
We have told the sheeple this for years. Kate uses the kids, but TLC uses KATE. Using the kids is worse because they are minors and have no choice, but it's sick and uncalled for to use an adult too no matter what the circumstances. Now, Kate should have stood up to TLC and stopped them from using her, she bears some responsibility. But just because Kate should have stopped TLC doesn't mean TLC has a right to do this to her and her family.
It's called karma.
As I read your kind post, my thoughts went immediately elsewhere.
My thoughts are with the poor boy in the back of the van in a public parking lot screaming in pain while daddy tried to help him pass a hard constipated stool, as mommy bought bunkbeds with TLC money.
My thoughts are with Mady who asked for water and her mommy said no, then drank from a bottle of water herself, and gave it BACK to the stage hand instead of sharing with her thirsty child.
My thoughts are with the poor vomiting child on the hard, cold tile laundry room floor in the dark with the door closed.
My thoughts are with the kids vomiting on the boat while whale watching.
My thoughts are with the girls who came home from school to find their belongings thrown out in a hysterical chitfit by a mommy who didn't care about their feelings.
My thoughts are with the boys who didn't get their cupcakes and had to watch their sisters get to eat theirs in front of their brothers.
My thoughts are with the poor boy who was told his lovey was going to be thrown out as he cried pitifully without understanding why.
My thoughts are with the twin in Alaska who was crying in the family photo.
My thoughts are with the kids who don't see their extended family.
The list is long.
Sorry Admin. I respectfully disagree that kart doesn't deserve this.
Make no mistake - I think TLC is heartless, greedy, unethical and mean. But kart can't escape her karma. She brought this on herself.
Let her call this a life lesson. I'm sure Charlie Sheen has some understanding that his actions had consequences.
She has just gotten a bill for her free ride these past few years. And it's a whopper.
Honestly though, I think the previews are all hype to drive up ratings. I bet the shows are 'typical' when they run.
I bet she will be shown no more or less horrible than she has ever been. I think we need to be cautious about getting upset before we see what really takes place. I think TLC is trying to manipulate viewers with selectively edited previews.
I'm betting it will be 'same old, same old'. I'm betting those who watch will say, 'eh, what's new?... boring as always'.
It's the Gosselin kids, who have worked hard for seven seasons, that deserve a proper send-off. TLC owes them that, after profiting millions of dollars from them.
Kate is an adult and it's partly her fault for providing TLC with the drama. Their last trip didn't have to end or be filmed this way. Many parents would put their own feelings/drama aside to give their kids the best experience possible. If Kate wasn't her diva self, this drama with Ashley and Jamie wouldn't happen. So I understand where those are coming from, saying this is karma or she deserves this.
However, it's the kids who don't deserve this type of farewell. Hopefully, this RV trip will be only two episodes with a commemorative finale showing the family's best moments over the last seven seasons. That's how they deserve to go out.
Let me be hypothetical for a moment...
What if TLC is purposely creating a dramatic cliffhanger finale for future purposes? The Roloffs had a similar ending and are now returning with four specials to address these loose-ends. Did anyone think they would come back? Of course, the Gosselin situation is different with the kids' contract expiring in Feb. 2012 and Jon unlikely to give his parental permission on future contracts. However, it was a thought that was brewing in my mind today.
First of all, I think Matt Roloff is a tad more business-savvy than Kate is. I don't mean business-savvy in the financial sense (altho they do have a large property, home and multiple vehicles), I mean business-savvy in the 'negotiation' sense. He's crazy for sure, but he's crazy like a fox, IMO. Kate? She's just crazy.
I noticed in that last link provided by 'TLC ship is sinking' that they refer to the Roloff's as 'part of TLC's family'. Nothing like that in TLC's statement about Kate + 8 being cancelled.
Kate's in for a rude awakening in the next few months. IMO, she deserves everything she will get. God help the kids.
The G8 only get 15% or less of the gross to split among them and it can be used for their clothes and school tuition.
Their parents might say the house is for the kids but it legally is not. It is paid for by the parents, or parent now. She can do with the profit whatever she likes. It is not part of the 15%. Maybe there was an intention there at the beginning, but face it, the original plan of the house being that of the kids and the parents switching dwellings so the kids were always in the house lasted only weeks before Jon was banned from even the driveway.
I have no tears for this mess. It is what it is.
2-Admin, or anyone, can you explain the whole story behind Walt/Kelly? Why was he banned, what exactly happened with the contest and why is he bashing you on other blogs? Which blogs?
3-I can't take her contantly mentioning she has no babysitter!! Your 8 kids are TODAY in the hands of ONE adult--A TEACHER! Why is that this ONE person is capable of supervising, nurturing, teaching, feeding, praising a group of AT LEAST 20??? Stop your bellyaching, it's getting old, just like your face!
Just wanted to say that I agree with permanent name and Teresa. I do not want to see Kate go out on a high note. She is going to be trying to claw her way back into the spotlight and has already spoken of her eagerness to throw Mady out there as a Disney Actress in order to keep this gig going. Kate is like a destructive fire which needs to be put out completely. Any smoldering could cause another flare up and another horrible situation for the kids. They need a normal life, or as close to it as their crazy mother will allow. Give Kate an inch and she'll take the mile, dragging her kids along -most likely in cowboy boots without socks.
I read the offer letter on WG's site. My take-----It's satire, not a genuine offer. Poking fun at Kate's inflated sense of worth.
So happy the ratings didn't go up. I think the final episode on Sept. 12 will be higher, though. I may even break my rule and watch. I wonder if Kate's manager had started negotiations on contract renewal, demands by Kate were unrealistic, and TLC's new management decided to cut her loose. As long as she had her one million core viewers, I bet she thought TLC would renew.
Really??? We recently relocated to N. VA (military family), and it was pure traffic mayhem in and around Arlington/Alexandria this afternoon. People just seemingly bumping into each other in pure confusion -- and not a single police officer or other civil servants there for any guidance. Even scarier, the Pentagon seemed to have no firm emergency plan in place (hubby works there, so I got a firsthand account of the mass confusion). Perhaps VA needs to update their "drills" because I saw NO sign of any readiness ANYWHERE today.
============
The Virginia governor mentioned that Northern Virginia traffic was the only problem of any significance. This was due to the federal government shutting everything down at once. The feds at the Pentagon didn't seem to have a contingency plan, and Northern Virginia paid for it. That's my opinion.
I know Thomas Jefferson wanted D.C. near Virginia as a boon to Virginia, but for my money, it could anywhere else in the country....
I'm glad I am not the only one who thought the offer on the house was wrong. After I read it and Mickey's post here, I signed out for the night.
I fear we lose the forest for the trees. We all agree that the kids shouldn't have had private moments filmed and displayed for profit. No one here needs to be convinced. Kate might 'deserve' punishment, but it's not our job to inflict it. It will happen on its own as the remaining cards are played.
Kate has been exploited by TLC and other outlets all along. (I have been saying this from the beginning) The ultimate joke is on her! The kids are KIDS and no one holds them accountable for this mess. They are victims.
Kate, on the other hand, is the adult in charge. She has subjected herself to years of filming her nasty behavior. She's not going to grow up one day- She's GROWN. She has been 'friended' by people who only cared about the ratings she could bring. When the dust settles, she will have no friends left- no TLC execs, no Meredith Viera or People magazine friends...no one. She didn't see it coming because she was being used and manipulated by people far smarter than she is. People who never cared about Kate as a person and only saw her as a brand.
Kate decided she was too good for her neighbors, her family, and even her husband. Her arrogance was fed and enabled as she continued to elevate herself in her own mind. Where will she be when the enablers stop taking her calls? When no real celebrity gives her a thought? When no major network cares about interviewing her again?
It's all been a house of cards from the get-go. She didn't net enough $$ to sustain her current lifestyle and she didn't make enough friends to help her generate more $$. My greatest concern is how this will ultimately affect those children.
Her fan BigfanofKate said it the cancellation was a 'gimmick" since Kate wasn't freaking out. LOL I wanted to tell her, she isn't freaking because she has NOTHING to worry about for a long time.
This woman is so broke, yet she is still shelling out money for a 'helper'? When one is suddenly unemployed, you immediately cut out all unnecessary expenses. At least normal people do. Been there, done that. She is NOT worried, she is just so used to crying poor, she just can't stop.
Mercifully, this show has finally been cancelled, and “dad” Jon couldn’t be more absent. I mean, relieved. TLC explained that ratings on the show went down after Jon left -- I guess viewers liked watching two bad parents more than one.
Low Point: Axing this show was a humanitarian act: nobody wants to see poor kids cruelly exploited by a mother callously thrusting them into the spotlight for her own personal gain. Hey, if that was what we were after, we'd watch Toddlers and Tiaras! (Which is actually pretty good.)
I can say without a doubt Kate doesn't run as far or as fast as she says she does. Her times are WAY off and keep in mind, she may say she "ran 9 miles" but she may walk for a large chunk of that distance. It's not unusual to add walking into a long run, but she presents the picture that she's running the entire 9 miles. I don't believe her for a second. I've seen several videos of her "running" and have read her stories of how far and often she runs. I call B.S.
Just curious, yep. If she's talkin', she's lyin'. But what else does she have to brag about anymore? Upcoming exotic trips? Nope. Attending the Emmys (to be made fun of)? Nope. DWTS? Done. Even her show is over.
A strong happy marriage? Devoted friends? The satisfaction that comes from living a simple humble life? Or even the satisfaction of working hard? Nope to all.
What she does have are eight precious kids who still look up to her and love her. But she doesn't seem too into them, to be honest, and never has. Their money-making potential seems hpto have been all used up.
Did anyone notice this Sheila person on twitter Kate seems to know somewhat? Kate asked her what she's been up to and she listed some pretty impressive accomplishments, including writing a book, etc. and Kate did not congratulate her. Instead, she rrflected on how ALIKE they are, must be the same person! Wooooooowwwwwww, Kate. The woman also said she had her fourth son after six months of bedrest. No response from Kate.
Also, it's the kids' last day of summer. School starts for them tomorrow. It's mid-morning in PA and she's twittering away on her phone.
Like I said, sad. Her life is sad. She has to fabricate accomplishments to sound impressive to the dozen or so people on twitter who care.
Marathon Runner? What would be a reasonable time for a "true" runner be to cover 9 miles?
About an hour and half or so? So even if she did included walking/running/galloping/slithering in her time, it would have taken her what? That's correct. A half marathon is 13.1 miles. I'm assuming she runs half the distance away from her house and then runs back. For example: I do a long run on Saturdays and I run 4 miles to my son's school and 4 miles back for a total of 8 miles. So she's probably no more than 1/2 the distance she claims to run away from her house, but still, it's pretty far. Even with a cell phone, she can't get back in a hurry if there's an emergency.
I'm trying to post a link to a local marathon's results. In case it doesn't work, the half marathon's results are the female's in the age group of 35-39. The #1 time was 13.1 miles in 1 hour 32 minutes at a pace of 7:04 minutes per mile. That's the #1 spot! The winner of her age division and a seasoned runner, having trained for this race for months, if not longer.
Forgot to mention, about Kate's super fan who had surgery and complications, it's beyond weird that her doctor and family aren't telling her Kate's show has been cancelled!
Friend In Pennsylvania said...
I read the offer letter on WG's site. My take-----It's satire, not a genuine offer. Poking fun at Kate's inflated sense of worth.
________________________________
I read it, too, and I thought it was inappropriate, satire or not. Is the insider information from journalist Al that Kate has been shopping for realtors (and none will work with her) also satire?
Friend In Pennsylvania said...
Like if she were telling a story about her child's birth, you would get ALL the gory details, from her constipation to the fourth degree tear the kid gave her, too much information like that.
____________________
But did she embellish? I think Kate really tends to do this, and for her there's such a fine line between lying and embellishing. With each story, the details become more exaggerated, and soon she can't remember what she said in the original story.
Sorry, no pity for Kate here. She is getting exactly what she deserves. She has exploited her children and they had no recourse except to do her bidding, she has alienated people, including family to where those children have led isolated lives. She is mean, devoid of emotion and cruel. We have seen it over and over.
No pity for Kate. TLC is a company so there is nothing surprising about them treating her like crap. They only care about their bottom line. But Kate is their mother and she treated them like dirt, as if the didn't even matter on many occasions, she has done everything she knew how to do to alienate them from their own father, right down to saying the crew was like their father. That is cruel.
I could care less how TLC portrays her on these final shows. She deserves it. It couldn't be any more humiliating than what Colin will experience when he is being made fun of in the future for being filmed with his Dad helping him in the back of the van while his mother was popping her gum and studying beds. Disgusting.
Good bye Kate, good riddance, please take your sheeple out the door with you.
it's ridiculous to say that no Realtor will work with Kate. The commissions from selling that house would be very good. Additionally, there is a good chance for the Realtor to gain some personal promotion from the venture. I know a few Realtors and they would be tripping over each other to get that listing. Kate is not the first difficult client or even the most notable.
One of BM's frequent posters with the name "Fired up" apparently recently underwent surgery and is still in the hospital. Another poster was writing an update about her and included in it the the doctors and her husband had decided not to tell her about the cancellation of Kate's show because they don't want her stressed or upset. Is this totally bizarre or is it just me?
----------------------
Um, not just you. It IS bizarre. When you have surgery, you are not supposed to be "stressed" out to help with the healing process, but I don't really see how learning about a SHOW CANCELLATION can stress one out. Seems a bit ridiculous. Especially since it's ya know, Kate.
Friend in Pennsylvania...
Your news article about that family in the fire made me cry. That is so terrible. My thoughts & prayers are with them.
I DID twitter sporadically yesterday. I twittered something to Kate about leaving her kids alone (I'm blocked) & I got some hater tweets, but I got MORE support tweets than anything. Ended up twittering w/ this really cool chick about crafts for a bit! So, something GOOD came out of it. :) I just wanted to get my point across that YOU DO NOT leave your kids alone, it's illegal! It wasn't mean. But, I think I got blocked the last time I twittered her & told her the retweeting everything was lame & made her sound desperate. Then I said "Nice Jugs!" LOLOL
I'm not sure pity is the right word, but I do feel some emotion when it comes to the issue of TLC taking advantage of this family. There are many other companies you can work for who wouldn't exploit you, so falling back on "they're a business" does not excuse TLC's actions in my opinion. ESPECIALLY businesses that deal with kids seems to me should be held to an even higher standard, like say a private school for profit. If they started selling reality shows of their students under the excuse they are a business and need to make money there would be outrage.
To me this is symptomatic of a larger problem, and that is big networks taking advantage of people who are unsophisticated when it comes to the entertainment business. I think people need to be personally responsible, but I also think reality shows shouldn't be permitted to negotiate contracts with their subjects without all parties represented.
Kate was taken advantage of and manipulated. I don't feel 'pity' for Kate because I don't like her as a person. However, Jon was taken advantage of in the same manner and I feel pity for him. Both of them were adults and entered into this with their eyes wide open but they lacked the representation they needed in the beginning.
I honestly think Kate is only starting to see that Jon was right. It will infuriate her when it fully sets in.
I watched the show last night on my DVR with several of my family. Just wanted to share a couple of things my family said.
There was a scene when Kate said one of the most horrible, innapropriate things I've ever heard her say. I won't say it here, letting Admin recap it in her capable way. But what it involved was a discussion of a person with a disability with a couple of the tups.
My mother-in-law, who has never seen the show and knows nothing about them, said:
"WHY did she just say that to those children?"
(20,000 question!!!)
I had to rewind just to make sure I really heard her correctly.
I said "because she is a horrible, horrible person." Then mil asked:
"Why do people watch this show then?"
I muttered something about train wrecks or something like that...then my 11 year old daughter said:
"Because some people think they're funny."
Before I could really contemplate what she meant by that (I think she meant that people think the kids are funny, which is fine), my 8 year old son said:
"But the parts that aren't supposed to be funny ARE funny, and the parts that are supposed to be funny AREN'T."
Wow. That pretty much sums it up!
Maybe I'm just cranky this morning, but the people out there dying to be on a reality show, for the big bucks of course, if they're so greedy for the money and "fame" that they can't figure out something so simple as to consult an attorney before signing anything, too bad. There aren't enough attorneys or time in the world to protect all the stupids.
Reality TV producers are scum, but there are a lot of scummy people taking advantage out there. We as adults have to protect ourselves. It's not as though we don't hear about how people are conned every day.
source of episode filming ( tax write off?) and freebies. So was the offer inappropriate? It's lowballing, so I can't use the word inappropriate but it is silly unless the tweet was true and she honestly believes her property is worth double. With today's market, a realistic price would be $800K. That would be an offer from a truly interested buyer.
Admin, I agree with you that TLC should be held accountable for the way they treat their 'stars', but that means you are giving them credit for doing the right thing according to what most people agree is right and moral. This company has proven over and over that they have no moral compass and could care less about people. Sure they shouldn't just be concerned about their bottom line -- I mean they are after all called The Learning Channel. But they haven't been about 'learning' for years now and they are corrupt and lacking all moral sense. Just look at some of their programming. Why do I need to know that the fattest man in the world can and still wants to have an orgasm? That he is getting married and they first have to tear down a wall, build a special bed to carry him in a special truck through the streets so he can be married. Are you kidding? And why do we need to know that another very obese man is still a virgin and doesn't want to be? What the heck is learning about that? And then there is Toddlers and Tiaras with all those stage mamas and those sad little girls. I will never understand why people would want to expose so much of their very personal hardships to the world. And no, money is not a good enough reason. Where is your sense of personal dignity and shame. And by shame I just mean some things should be very personal and not shared with the rest of the world. This is why I see TLC as despicable, because I suppose these people are desperate. Kate on the other hand, is another story. She is as bad as TLC in that these are her children, not TLC's. She could have intervened at any time and not only did she choose not to but she stubbornly and blatantly ignored their needs for privacy and protection so SHE could be in the limelight. For these reasons, I hope she never gets an offer for anything in the media.
I remember when the only thing I complained about re: TLC not being "the LEARNING channel" was when I watched A Baby Story or Bringing Home Baby and virtually EVERY show had mothers who went through labor and delivery with epidurals or had scheduled c-sections and came home and bottle fed and disposable-diapered their babies. Not that there is anything wrong with those choices, and I full support the rights of all parents to make the choice that is best for their family....
BUT since the AAP and others recommend breastfeeding, don't you think it would be wise to at least most of the time show mothers who have chosen to follow the advice of experts - since you are indeed THE LEARNING CHANNEL? And the rate of c-sections and drug use during L&D is so astonishingly high in this country - how about you have episodes where women have chosen to forego those procedures in order to have a healthier, safer birth - since you are indeed THE LEARNING CHANNEL? And how about occasionally showing a cloth-diapering mother who has made a decision to be more environmentally conscious - since you are indeed THE LEARNING CHANNEL???
Oh, those were the days...
::snort:: What did she do, you may ask?
After Ashley - a young woman who has never owned a home, much less property, of her own - suggested it, she stapled and nailed up some chicken wire across the barn. This also involved pounding some posts into the ground with a big hammer (probably the arm-soreness task.)
Then they nailed some 2x4's together (with help and advice from the tree house builders) and made a "door" in the chicken wire.
Someone better call Bob Villa, because maybe home improvement could be her next career.
Sorry, I've always read but never posted.
I look at it as, Kate signed up for this show. She signed up to be gawked at, picked over for everything she does right or wrong. Nobody twisted her arm to do reality tv show. She had to have known that every show ends eventually (18 years or not). She had to have planned ahead for Plan B.
She opened her life to be viewed for the good and the bad--for money, not memories. She knew reality tv would fit the bill for trips. I look at it as that Kate knew all along what she wanted, for better or worse she wanted other people to take care of the situation she created.
For past 7 years Kate has had nurses, assistance, willing family members, willing friends, production crew, nannies, helpers, bodyguards and many more people all doing things for her: folding and putting away laundry, cooking meals, watching kids, clean up her kids, scolding her kids, bandaging her kids, picking up her kids. I almost guarentee you name it Kate has had someone else do something either for her or for her kids.
I am almost certain now with show over, when she cannot continue to pay all those extra people their paycheck, they will move on at some point. Even if she's saved carefully, used coupons whatever, eventually you run out of money. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow or next couple of months but she will. Celebrities in the past have gone broke before, had to sell their homes and personal posessions, I can think of Nicholas Cage, Michael Jackson who have had to sell things for money. Kate isn't special in this respect.
When it becomes just her and her 8 kids, how will she handle having to do things on her own? Folding and put away her own laundry, take all 8 kids to grocery store by herself. I feel almost if Kate doesn't get what Kate wants, and Kate wants to continue to be on tv, whatever that option may be, she will not know what to do with herself. Face it, like Jon she will struggle to get a 9-5 job because she is so well known, for the good of it and the bad of it.
Kate is only kidding herself if she things this is going to be a walk in the park. I guess I just have only last question that I don't se anybody else having brought up...
Does this mean Twist of Kate is, well, shall we say, never, was never going to happen now? I mean it's been years since the show was supposed to happen and I haven't heard anything about it. Looks like Kate will have to put up her dreams of living off her kids cuteness and be a regular person? Or will that by chance be too hard with count them 8 kids and nobody to help her?
BTW, 8 dozen additional cupcakes? Who - WHO -
could do anything with those? 96 cupcakes plus the ones they made themselves? Why would she take all those? I don't get it either, laineyincoplay. Was she taking them to a homeless shelter? Passing them out at the park? Or throwing them out? I guess we'll never know.
Great question, Lake up North. I wouldn't put anything past TLC, they could be saving Twist of Kate and keeping it very quiet and once the hoopla of the ending of Kate plus 8, voila, out they come with Twist. Except, and this is a big except, she is so hated across the board, except for the handful of fans who still admit to being fans. Read any article out there and the comments alone say it all. No one likes her. So I don't for a moment think Twist would be a success for the reason that Kate alone would be so deadly dull and who wants advice from her.
I was reading at one of the fan sites and we are all again accused of that tired old 'they're just jealous' refrain. Can't they at least be original and find something realistic to accuse us of. I mean really, what is there to possibly be jealous of Kate for. She has a lot of kids - no not jealous of that. It's great if that's what you want, but just so you can exploit them on TV, as I said, no thanks. She's pretty, I give her that, except it's only skin deep, she is quite ugly on the inside. She has a beautiful home and property -- so do a lot of people. She has lots of money -- well that's debatable at this point. She's famous -- now that one is laughable, she is infamous, not famous. She's is bitch, yeah I'm really jealous of that.
Well put. Kate has proudly displayed, on tape and film, her complete disgust and contempt for her children at the drop of a hat. She is equally delighted in displaying her rage on TV, directed at her children and husband. So as her STAH fades, I fear her rage and blame game will increase, and she will direct that at the only people who are still stuck with her - the children.
But she is not done yet. She will stop at nothing to ensure media attention for herself. Nothing. She has been trying to sexualize herself as cougar MILF and she isnt yet pulling it off, but she will continue this effort. Big time! And when it doesnt work, she will focus those efforts on her daughters. Might take 10 years, but she will try.
Falling like a brick said...
Twitter is backfiring on Kate.
This is why I think so.
She tweets every single thought and reaction leaving it out there for anyone to follow. We know when she runs, what size she is, what she ate for dinner, what she fixed the kids to eat, when she sleeps, when she shops, her raw and rude replies to questions she doesn't want to answer, how she feels about TLC, how she wants a career on TV, how she wants to push Mady into acting etc.
If she wanted to keep herself relevant she would have immediately stopped tweeting so much. Then the mag rags would have been more receptive to interviews with her to see how she is handling this whole situation. Right now all the curious have to do is go to twitter and follow her (although you don't need to follow her to see what she is tweeting - I don't follow her)
As it is right now only People Magazine showed up on her doorstep. It will be a last final cover on her life.
Her life is so boring now, and we all can see it. She is nothing without TLC and she will have nothing now that she can't work those kids in front of the camera.
Look for her to butter up to Jon a bit more (maybe even Ellen to get on his good side) as the contracts expire and she needs his permission to film the crap out of the kids more - so she can live the life she's become accustomed to. (and watch as he drops her like a hot potato and says "over my dead body")
It's pretty pathetic that she's only relevant in her own mind and on Twitter and she has like 1/2 the followers as Jon has and he's not even on TV anymore and rarely tweets more than one or two replies each week.
Didn't see the INF photos of her running but not surprised because if tomorrow is the first day of school, Chris Watts will be at the bus stop. She probably waited to run yesterday until Chris could show up to snap the pictures. I'm so sick of her.
She's so dumb she admitted today she has a plastic surgeon so I guess from everyone's comments she had the girls blown up more. Wonder if she was replying to her twit about lipo? I think that's been done too.
It should be nearly impossible to get Jon to sign a new contract allowing the kids to film, because since TLC isn't interested anymore they won't be putting pressure on him like before. I sure hope he's able to stay strong!
Kate supposedly ran last night at approximately 9pm, right? The pics from Radar were definitely not taken then; it was still too light out when the pics were taken. I agree with all of the other posters who are saying she's not "running" and that she's not running 9 miles in the time she says.
Kateplusmy8
@Micormax @ussmcclelland I know that 5K is abt 3.6 miles. I ran 9miles so 15K?
@Kateplusmy8 Wasn't that a bit excessive to take all of those cupcakes? Kinda rude too..
Kate Gosselin
@LaineyinCoplay seriously? What were they gonna do? Sell them? They added an add'l 8 dozen of theirs! Rude is your question!
I have a hint for Kate since she's now giving back (snark): how about asking the bakery who overloads you with unwanted cupcakes where the nearest soup kitchen is and driving directly there and giving them the excess? Taking them home WAS excessive and rude!
Is Kate's new career going to be rudely defending her poor previous behavior on Twitter?
I personally love the property and have 10 acres myself but it's a handful.
I wouldn't pay that much for any property without an attached garage. On cold, snowy winter mornings, I want to go from my house to the garage (preferably a heated one) and not have to shovel a path before I can get there. In addition, I want a central vac and intercom system and foyer closet. They paid too much for that house. I'd be surprised if she got over $725,000 for it.
This is getting worse. I hope Kate's "security team" is on top of this. This is the one drove an hour to go grocery shopping to be five minutes away from Kate, published her phone number on Twitter, and wanted Kate to meet her in the parking lot. I'm surprised that Kate hasn't blocked her. She's probably just a not-too-bright obsessed fan, but sometimes those are the ones who are most dangerous.
Tucker's Mom said...
Yeah, the detached garaged really stinks. Considering you'd have to schlep everything, it's too far. I think the apt. over the garage was key in them buying the house, seeing as how that's where Jon lived.
I was reading kate's tweets (I don't follow but I do read) and came across the link for the twitter save kate+8 twitition. Kate has 40K+ followers that she loves and adores and they all love and adore her...Why haven't they signed your petition kate? There are only 622 signatures? That's 39K+ who haven't signed. Could it be that you bought followers and/or most that follow you can't stand you? I'm guessing that TLC is not going to put too much stock in this twitition to save the show. Between all the petitions that the sheeple have going my bet is that she doesn't have 1,000 signatures yet.
OK NOW it's a troll, a joke, meant to ridicule the drooling sheeple and try to show Kate how ill and ridiculous she and her 677 fans really are. Funny I said in my recap it was a little embarrassing for Kate and the twins to make off with all those cupcakes. It was ridiculous all the free crap they took, it was like watching people in those money machines with the blowing money lapping up everything they can.
So let me get this straight, Kate responds to someone who says the exact same thing (that taking all those free cupcakes was RUDE) with an explanation that they actually were given even MORE free cupcakes? What's wrong with her? And THAT person calling her out is rude? No Kate, that's the whole point. You're rude for being given an inch and taking a mile. Even with eight kids how can you possibly eat all those cupcakes. Plus, I read some Yelp reviews of DC Cupcakes and a lot of people were saying they're not that good unless you eat them right away anyway.
She is greedy. If someone offers her a cookie, she has to take a dozen. It's greed, it's rude, and we were absolutely right to call her out on it. And her response just talks about MORE greed.
I love someone's suggestion that she ask where the nearest food bank is and donate them.
Sadly, no. I don't think so. She's been on Twitter for quite some time and I really think she's got some serious issues. At first I thought maybe she was a sheeple plant to stir the pot a bit, but if you look back over her tweets, they do appear that she lives in Hershey, knows the area (everything she says has checked out), goes into detail about her personal life and her ex-husband, and never addresses any comments that are made to her.
She has that "Single White Female" identity thing going on and wants to get close to Kate. She's been begging for her to be a friend, wants to walk with her, babysit for her, go shopping with her, get skinny like her, get the same pink phone, ad nauseam.
These tweets are too bizarre to be a sheeple plant/imposter. If you look at them, they all seem to be the same "lonely for a friend" theme. Your ordinary, barnyard variety sheeple couldn't come up with anything like this. A troll would not post her phone number on Twitter, and it was a legit phone number with a Rhode Island area code (she says her family is from RI). In fact, when she tweeted she was sitting in a parking lot at a Harrisburg mall during a bad storm and asked Kate if she could get electrocuted in a car, we were having a really bad storm here. I think she was serious.
Moreover, some of her tweets are criticism of Kate, such as her some of Kate's clothing is all wrong; she needs different make-up, she needs to do this and that.
Look at this one:
I understand that the DC Cupcake owners probably wanted to make this a fun experience for Cara, Mady, and their friends so they allowed them to create and/or bake all those cupcakes. It was just too excessive and I'm surprised not one adult intervened and said enough is enough. One dozen per kid would have been enough to share with family and friends.
With Kate tweeting on and on about the family being addicted to giving back and this DC Cupcake trip happening just before her Giving Back event in TN, it's just hypocritical to say one thing but then hoard an excessive amount of cupcakes...just because you can.
I seriously doubt they ate all those cupcakes before they went stale, especially if Kate is really "The Soup Nazi" many assume she is with food. No dessert for you!
silimom said...
Not that Kate did this, because I have to believe if she had she would have said so but...
How To Freeze Frosted Cupcakes
If the cupcakes are already decorated, cover them loosely with plastic wrap, then wrap them a second time, being careful not to mess up the frosting. Sometimes it is helpful to stick a frilled toothpick in each cupcake to keep the plastic wrap from sticking to the frosting. Store in airtight plastic containers or boxes for up to three months. Let thaw before serving.
That's my biggest complaint about all these cupcake shops cropping up. Every single one I've tried is overwhelming sweet. I have a sweet tooth too but not like THAT. It should be so sweet that you feel the saliva glands at the back of your throat oozing. It shouldn't be so sweet that it's painful to eat it. I don't get the thinking behind these recipes.
A cupcake should have a nice fluffy soft cake with good balance, not a ball of sugar, and the frosting should be the same. Also, not too much of it. They glob it on by the pound. I don't want to eat a giant bite of frosting, I want a nice balance of the light cake and the frosting.
These things go for over a 2.50 a pop and they're not that good, IMO!
Regarding the "just jellus" comment that came up again, if anyone is jealous it's her tweeple who lap up all the things she does. You can be "jealous" without acting angry or bitter toward a person. The way they defend it, I assume they want the trips and the clothes and the attention, that is very clear.
And not that it hasn't been covered so thoroughly here, but I'm not jealous of this lifestyle. And here's the latest example. Kate's out of work and is bellyaching she has no money. But I have a job. I'm not out of work and I'm fine and I'm so grateful I'm not part of the growing group who are out of work and can't get back into work which now includes Kate. I'm sure not jealous of someone out of the job in this economy.
Georgetown cupcakes aren't overly sweet. They're just not. And, of course you want to eat them asap; they're baked goods which ALL get stale over time.
When I order them for my husband, he saves me a couple and I don't eat them until after dinner, and they're still amazing.
The icing is the best part, as opposed to Cake Love, which is like eating a stick of butter. Very bad icing which you're told to let sit out for 30 min before eating it.
Kate is a twit said...
Mom in Lancaster County--I agree somewhat with your assessment of the Kate fan twitterer. I think she is totally obsessed with being a friend of Kate. She only follows Kate. It's possible she only sees Kate's tweets. I also believe that when she tweets Kate, that she thinks she is having a personal, private conversation with Kate that no one else can see.
Not sure if airhead is the right description, she just sounds very child-like. She tweeted that she turned 31 today. Kate hasn't blocked her because Kate did reply to one of her tweets today.
I do think the situation is scary-I just hope she doesn't take it further and shows up at Kate's house.
You're right. Airhead isn't really a description, but it was more kind than dingbat. Regardless, she really does have some mental issues going on, and if I were Kate, I'd worry. It would surprise me if she DIDN'T show up at Kate's house, or at bus stop parking lot.
I don't use Twitter either. If she can see what others tweet her, she probably ignores those posts. She probably only reads Kate's tweets.
One thing I noticed is that she sends tweets via text messaging, so it's possible that she only sees Kate's tweets and does thinks a personal conversation.
I don't care how low of a price it would sell for or how good of a deal I could get, I wouldn't go near that house strictly for one reason - bad karma. No, I'm not kooky, but even if you gave me that I house, I truly believe there has been so much unhappiness in it, that I would never want to live there.
