Kids back to filming

Could that be Farmer Henry on the flatbed?

Maybe we get to see another trip to an organic farm and watch the children guzzle down another 3 glasses of milk and get no dinner!

More chicken cacciatori? Or maybe more eggplant parmesean? What culinary delights await these hopeful children?

Somebody will have to tell me all about it because these eyes won't be watching this show.

cathy518 said...

There's that adoring gaze! Kate just lights up like a Christmas tree when she's around her children. Seriously, if every picture tells a story, this one is telling that Kate would like to be anywhere but home with her kiddies. Somewhere like LA or NY where she can hang with her own kind-you know, other famous people.

Babsy said...

...and signing books exploiting her children's PRIVATE emotions/feelings. What could she possibly provide to the Amish in regards to faith and family that they don't already have?!

She didn't keep the dogs -- she won't keep those chickens.

emschick1128 said...

Apparently their getting a chicken coop built from some men from Amish country(spelling?) God help the poor chickens if their left in Kate's care. They'll be dead within a week from starvation and neglect.

Ok, so if you to to http://www.celebrity-gossip.net/kate-gosselin/kate-gosselin-chicken-coop-family-fun-375234 you will see what is really going on. First off, TLC is going to make it look like the Amish guy, so says this site, is going to help them build a chicken coop (poor chickens) but REALLY there is a professional builder there (note the guy in the t-shirt with his company's name and phone number on the back). Also they have her autographing her book (a set up) I guess to advertise it. Love those pap photos!

At least she tucked the "girls" away while the Mennonite/Amish workers were there.

Do you suppose it was suggested that she wear a modest shirt when in the presence of the Amish?

For $1400 and a couple of autographed books for the Amish dude, Kate and kids get a new premade, screw it together yourself chicken coop.

nanb said...

Just bringing over from the previous post.

Exploitation time again. Kate filming "Kate exploits 8, plus Amish builders and chickens!

How long do you think the chickens will be at the Mcmansion?

Now, I can officially say I'm jealous of Kate. I've wanted chickens for sometime. As I keep telling my husband, if I'm ultimately responsible for our pets, I want pets that give back to me. Chickens=eggs and fertilizer.

Hope she gets a rooster!

mama san said...

these coops are pre-made. You go to a lot like Stolfus'. It is delivered and placed on your selected piece of ground. I know since I have one. Does Kate believe that she can get chickens and just let them roam? There are critters in them thar woods. I can't wait for Kate in her Amish bonnet and apron. Lordy be!

Ava said...

A chicken coop? Really? This from a woman who couldn't manage two dogs. I'm sure the chickens are for the Amish farmers and she's just letting them use some of their land.

I do find it interesting that now that people are actually paying attention to how much filming is taking place, they only have enough footage for monthly specials. Makes you think about how much filming they were doing when they had enough footage for a weekly show.

PJ's momma said...

At least she had the decency to mostly cover up in front of the very modest Amish people there. I'm glad for that.
But why on earth are they getting chickens? I can't imagine them eating an 'unclean' fresh egg or slaughtering their own (organic only) meat. Chickens are work, and several times a day too.

IDModo said...

Also bringing over from the previous thread- Kate has shown that she can capably produce eggs and fertiliser all by herself. Why does she need chickens?

Markiesnana said...

I saw the name of the company on the worker's shirt, and looked up the details:

http://www.horizonstructures.com/Detailsasp?List=1&Product=4

They start at about $1600; but you can add all sorts of things.

Markiesnana said...

Sorry....for some reason that link didn't work.

If you just go to horizonstructures.com
you can then click on "chicken coops".

Markiesnana said...

I didn't see that someone had already sent a link.
It says that they are delivered completely assembled, hence the flatbed truck.

CJ said...

When she finds out you have to wash the chicken poop off the fresh eggs - she won't be touching them.

The Amish guy could have made a hen house for about $100. They don't need any fancy preassembled McMansion for their chicks.

Irene S said...

Well, well now the staff at the orphanage will have another chore to add to the list.

Hey, I wonder if Kate would lend some eggs to Werny!

Yeah, as much as I disagree with Baby Mama (about 99%) I still respect her and I like her.

I like the 15 minute blog too but sometimes I don't agree with a lot said but get tired of pointing it out. I like posting there but it's a different atmosphere.

One example... I don't care that Kate got fake noons and I don't mind some cleavage and I think a two-piece bathing suit is great if you can wear one and not have your belly hanging over the bottom. I'm not a prude either. Can't handle some of the over the top prudishness. But I also don't mind some snark about Kate.

Yeah I can see commenting on the fact that she wears some of the outfits she wears to go food shopping, but not the fact that she wears the outfits. I do think the problem is Kates original stand on modesty and that she seems to have a huge conservative Christian following that she is ostracizing with her new look. I understand pointing out how different her look is based in the Kate they knew before, but she is allowed to change her look. She may lose some of her fan base for it though. I'm babbling and it's too hard to go back in a edit in my BlackBerry. sorry.

If the pre-built chicken coops start at $1600, Kate will have one with all the bells and whistles for about $3000...compliments of TLC. Nothing's too good for Katie's little chickens. ;) Since TLC already did a show with the kids selling lemonade and we know they are running out of show ideas , maybe they can film the kids down by the road with a table set up to sell eggs.

So if she starts raising chickens, which I'm sure some helper will be responsible for, is she trying to be a Martha Stewart wanna be? I would be curious from future pap photos how long those chickens last.

So if there's a guy there from some coop building place, what's the point of the Amish guy? Is he there to give her advice on raising hens? Perhaps he is giving her some hens? And wouldn't she need a bunch of chickens to feed a family of nine? I just don't get the point of this episode. Kate is not a gardening/animal lover. TLC is scraping the barrel for ideas and ONCE AGAIN, is attempting to make her something she is NOT.

mama mia said...

Why would anyone watch this show when the same formula is used time after time. Kate gets a sponsor, the sponsor gives Kate something they make (for free) to get advertising for their product, Kate lies and pretends she always wanted said product, the kids are thrown in somehow to make it look like they too always wanted said product, said product gets mentioned throughout the show, Kate plugs her book and upcoming appearances, kids melt down, the end.

OC Girl said...

Are we going "Organic" in this informercial...oops, I mean special?

Once again, Kate reminds us how organically organic her family is. What's next? There'll be a sponsor giving Kate her own organic vegetable farm!

I can see it now...
She'll recall her time at the Dude Ranch and how the boys loved chickens and picking eggs from the coop...cue dude ranch clip. The kids love their new chickens! Don't be surprised if there's some egg throwing!

She'll remind us about Farmer Henry and how much her kids loved that cacciatore...cue farm to table clip. He's just too far away. Then we'll watch the kids enjoy planting their own vegetables.

There's nothing close to becoming organically organic than growing your own food!

Kate, you're no Martha Stewart!

I agree with Schmecky Girl about the physical appearance debate - - just don't care-- see people dressed inappropriately (IMO) every day. I think physical appearance debates discredits the message which IMO should be the exploitation of children. Dr. Laura did an interesting article on the ramifications of children working. Whether she is right or a psychologist of a different opinion is right, time will tell -- but isn't it a shame that this social experiment is done with children who never had a choice -- I see where Gary Coleman is coming from when they showed his interviews on absolutely hating being famous. Parents can have good or exploitive intentions and when they are exploitive, who will speak up for them when they have surrounded themselves with paid employees to say yes to them. See Jon and Kate as inempt as I might think they are, are still the children's parents. When does someone step in on behalf of the children --isn't that the very reason there are Child Labor Laws -- the very things TLC violated. That is the important debate IMO.

Schmecky Girl - your loyalty to Baby Mama is misguided but happy your personal experiences have been good. Baby Mama has put alot of misinformation on her blog as fact -- people who needed to identify who Baby Mama really is, have done that and that includes members of the Gosselin family.

With regard to the chickens, there are zoning laws on raising chickens on your property -- hope TLC have become rule followers. Although I saw where there was a trip to DWTS donated by Kate to the children's school -- is that how you get extra unexcused absences?

Kelly said...

What's next after the chicken coop and the fresh eggs? A milking cow for fresh milk? How about a slaughter house for those chickens when she needs fresh chicken meat. A salmon farm next to the swimming pool and an some pigs so they can have their daily allotment of fresh bacon. She's already growing a veggie garden, strawberries. I wouldn't be surprised if she has a rew rednecks show up and build her a still out there in the woods. Fresh Moonshine anyone???

MickeyMcKean said...

Wow, it was just yesterday that I was being quizzed by my BF's teenaged kids about raising chickens organically - eggs and meat - and then today I find this thread.

First of all, kudos to the company for their product placement. Another example of marketing 101! So what if children are being exploited to push your product? Sell, sell, SELL!

Second, I agree with the above poster who said that Kate will have a problem with the eggs collected having to be washed because they are sometimes "poopy" or have feathers stuck to them. Such is life when one is around chickens LOL.

FWIW, even though I personally find chickens extremely messy and dirty critters, I still have them. That being said, I can't see chickens fitting into Kate's world at all except for this one episode.

Finally, even if I am not a parent, I believe that this chicken coop/raising chickens would be a fantastic project for all 8 kids. I can see the advantages of having these kids gathering eggs on a daily basis, as well as feeding and watering the chickens.

Unfortunately I really don't see Kate allowing her kids around these "filthy" chickens after the episode has been shot -- yes this chore will be delegated to the nannies.

Last but not least, we can forget about the Gosselins ever eating these chickens -- no way, no how are they going to "process" any meat birds on that property! No, the Gosselin kids will know that organic chickens are only found on styrofoam trays in grocery stores.

JMO.

SchmeckyGirl- if the kids were seeing some cleavage by accident. I agree with you.At least nobody is yelling "NIKE!" about it.Most divorced moms would love to have a new look. I know I cut my hair and started dressing better.
But my point here is that I don't believe Kate's display is accidental. It's not what she is displaying as much as WHY it is being displayed, and it looks to me like exhibitionism for the tabloids.I think it's over the top and is giving all the children, boys and girls both, a message that getting attention in this way is OK.

LisaNH said...

You know what would be really fun? If it turned out that there was some city ordinace that stated that farm animals couldn't be kept on the Konpound. I mean obviously the chickens are only there for their production value. Kart would never be caught dead getting her hands dirty doing manuel labor like feeding chickens, cleaning out the coops, collecting eggs then cleaning them etc...

Granted, all of that would be a great learning experience for the kids, but if she freaks over them getting grass stains on their clothes or pronounces them "ruined" because they get a little ice cream on themselves, then allowing the kids to learn responsiblity by caring for chickens won't happen at the Gosselin Estate.

I decided to share some information about chicken coops - if for no other reason than to get people to realize that there are other options for chicken coops other than this most recent product placement vendor on K+8.

For anyone who would like to have chickens and think that chicken coops are +/- $1,600 (and yes they can be more $$$!), I would like you to know that for my free range chickens I have had an 8x10 coop, another smaller one with skids, as well as just a "hutch" that hung on my barn wall.

My current chicken coop - the one that makes me smile - is a plastic kid's playhouse. I think Little Tykes made it - the house has shutters that open and inside is approximately 4'x5'. The kicker is that this house was given to me by my neighbors whose grandchildren outgrew it :)

Inside this plastic chicken coop I have individual boxes and I gather eggs from outside the house by reaching through the shutters. The chickens have their shelter and it is easily moveable around my yard for fertilizing purposes.

So heads up people, you can have chickens and a chicken coop for very little money and if you have kids and want them to learn a little bit about farm life, go for it that is if your zoning will allow it. BTW if your neighbors might complain if you get a rooster, the chickens will lay eggs without one around.

JMO.

My god, what a flimsy 'unscripted' storyline this is going to be. If all KG's 'adorable brood' is good for is advertising products why doesn't TLC use some of their industry weight and get the bitch a job on the shopping channel - then film her. Why do the kids have to do all the work? Although, I can imagine how small the viewing audience would be if it was just Katie buying a chicken coop. She so desperately needs those kids to support her.

I'll lay odds that somewhere in the show she's going to tell the Amish guy she can hatch more eggs at once than the chickens. I remember when she couldn't let Henry have his moment when he told her that he and his wife had given birth to another baby since he last saw her. She had to tell him they were almost caught up her. Of course stupid Henry didn't know that no one has had it tougher than her. She always has to brag about that grand canyon womb of hers.

If Henry explains anything to Kate about the chickens, it's all for the show. Kate will never do anything with chickens, and she's probably gagging just thinking about it. But she's doing it for the kids because everything she does is for them. ;)

cathy518 said...

How desperate is this story line? Nobody will believe that Kate is going to do some down home farming, or that she will let her kids "be ruined" with messing up their clothes. Can you imagine if they track chicken poop into the house? After this episode, the chickens will be off limits, until they are shipped off like the dogs.
It seems like TLC is running out of events to film. This is just incredible though, Kate and chickens is about as believable as Kate and her children. Forced, fake and all for show.

SG said...

ODMOdo,

I agree that IF Kate was doing it purposely for the paps then it's wrong. I just don't think we can know something like that for sure. How many of has have leaned over only to realize that we were kinda hanging out. A top can be totally modest when you are standing straight up and not so much when you lean over. However, with the experiences Kate has had with some of the pics the paps have printed in the past she should be more aware of it.

Besides, my comments weren't regarding that. They were soley regarding the comments about showing some cleavage in general, especially to those that thought there was something wrong with her bending over in front of her young children. I don't think it's a big deal. JMO.

Kate thinks she's some diva superstar and they are putting a chicken coop in her yard, and they will have her riding on the back of a garbage truck. Maybe on one of the upcoming shows they'll have her in the kitchen making some possum stew for lunch, while her kids are chasing chickens around the cement (see-ment) pond.

Kelly said...

I think that people are a little put off with the way the Gosselins get everything for free and how they all feel entitled, just because Kate had a litter. There are plenty of families out their, struggling in this economy trying to make ends meet and feed their kids.

To have a mother exploit her children on television so she can live the good life, constantly cry poor mouth and how much she is struggling and then read about the next exotic trip, or receive another expensive item that was gifted to them is a bit of a turn off to say the least.

I have no problem with anyone winning the lottery or winning a prize and often times wish it were me winning the Powerball or Megamillions. The difference is, I don't put myself out there crying poor mouth, talk about how everything I do is for the kids, how it is "MY" job to go on television when in fact the only ones working are the kids. This is part and parcel as to why people can't stand Kate Gosselin.

You can bet your ass that if I won the Powerball, the first thing I'd do is go out and buy a BMW 750LI and then I'd do something for my kids who are all now grown.

I don't like the Gosselin's getting things for free because it sets a very bad example for 8 little kids. They are going to grow up expecting it.

LisaNH said...

I agree with you Kelly about the reason why people have problems with the Gosselins is because they so much for free and they act like their entitled to it.

Another thing that bothers me (and always has) about them is the fact that they rarely, if ever, give back. They could be using their fame and fortune to help so many needy causes but no, they're too tight fisted to do anything for anyone but themselves.

And since we're talking about what we'd do if we ended up with a fortune :-), the first thing my husband I would do would be buy a brand new van for Disabled American Vets in our area. (That is a dream of mine to that one day.)

Then after that we'd buy a small cottage on the shore in Maine.

Right. I have an Amish neighbor who doesn't mind having his photo taken, and I know another couple, NOT Amish, but horse-and-buggy Mennonite, who absolutely want nothing to do with the "English" ways...that means no photos, no electricity, no cars, etc. It all depends on the sect. Sometimes the sects are confusing because there are so many sub-sects within each group, such as the Old Order Amish, the New Mennonites, etc. Each adheres to different rules of life and conduct.

One thing about the freebies that was telling, when the kids got the Crooked Houses and picked out their own structures, quiet little Cara chose a house with a coffin for the front door. I wonder if her parents got the message.

New pics up on Celebrity Gossip of the resumed filming today and yes, of course, more pics from yesterday with Kate "hanging loose" walking the streets of Wernersville.

Poor Kate, is so desperate and worse yet.....sick.

Looks like Ashleys back on the payroll.

Bet all the babysitters get paid more than the 8 kids.

I wonder if the kids know how to ties shoes yet . The boys were recently shown with shoes that had shoestrings, but it doesn't mean they know how to tie them. I don't know if the girls were ever shown wearing anything other than crocs, flip flops, slip-ons or velcro shoes. Kate's a busy single mom, so it's totally understandable if they don't know how. There are only so many hours in the day. ;)

No, TLC is sending a message that there are still enough stupid sheeple out there who believe child exploitation is an admirable quality in a mother.

Exactly ! Either a nanny or Jon...or Mady and Cara, but we can almost guarantee it was not Kate. Can you see her teaching 6 little kids to tie their shoes, especially with her low blood sugar issues. ;) That job would have been delegated to someone else for sure.

True, plus the fact that the ends (child exploitation) justifies the means (wealth, fame and fortune...the lifestyles of the rich and famous). It doesn't matter HOW you get there, but THAT you get there.

Radar is lagging behind today with the saga of the Gosselin brood.
They finally posted pics of the filming (again) at the house.
There is one pic that just sickens me. It's the 3rd one of the kids trying to climb a tree with a camera man and his camera stuck right in their faces.
Is it actually exciting and entertaining for people to see a few kids climb a little bitty leafless tree?
That's about as exciting as me sitting on my deck watching my dandelions grow !
By the way.... I hope someone is keeping track of filming days.

Hi Tucker's Mom -

Just as a point of clarification about the rescue of sailboat girl - The rescue was coordinated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority's Rescue Center and carried out by a French fishing vessel. The Australian Maritime authority said it would not be seeking compensation for the rescue mission. I don't know if the operators of the French vessel will seek compensation.

But you are quite right about this rescue mission putting the lives of rescuers in danger. I read that the fishing boat captain at one point fell into the water and had to be rescued.

It just goes to show that when money is involved, parents become jaded in their decision-making process. I mean, who the heck lets very young children decide if they ought to be filming their lives? And how is a 16 yr-old able to grasp that in due time, she will be able to go on her journey, sailing around the globe, but armed with far greater insight and maturity.
Sailboat Girl, Balloon Boy...all in the name of "reality".

Don't forget that in the Larry King interview of last February (2009), Kate said, "And, you know, our goal in our show is to show the real life of what it is like to have two sets of multiples. And basically, essentially, we've made it your business."

So the purpose was to show "real life," and I guess that real life includes her shopping trips in which she dressed to the hilt. She said that they've essentially made it our business, so perhaps voyeurism on our part is included when she made it "our business."

Kate says: "And basically, essentially, we've made it your business."

Well that sure throws a little water on the sheeple's tireless argument that Kate is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

Kate herself says she's our business!! Hahaha sheeple strike out AGAIN.

Absolutely. A 16-year-old does not have the insight and maturity to know what to do in unique situations that call for experienced knowledge to get them out of anything unexpected that may happen. Studies have shown that their brains are operating at only 80 percent capacity...they are not fully developed. Teenagers are not capable of making the decisions that an adult can make because of lack of experience and reasoning capacity. They might have studied navigational charts, wind speed, currents, etc., but when confronted by a rogue wave, for example (something they've never seen before) they can't process or internalize the information needed to get them out of that situation.
I don't care how much she wanted to go on that trip, or how passionate she was about breaking the world record. Any parent who gave his/her blessing to this should be hung out to dry. Money is the great motivator, but what does it say about you as a parent when you're willing to let your child risk his or her own life and then justify it by saying, "You don't know her. She was ready. She begged to go."
Parents need to just say "NO!"

Do you really think that Kate even discussed, much less let the kids decide if they should be filmed? When their own parents insist on going full steam ahead with filming and won't let them live a normal childhood, then who in the heck is going to do pull the plug on filming? The kids could probably scream until they are blue in the face that they are sick and tired with the filming, and it's not going to make one iota of difference. That's tragic.

Hi CG, thanks for asking and reminding me I forgot to update. Poor vet was devastated over what happened to Tabitha and paid the complete bill for the feline dental surgeon. Will no longer be pulling teeth, just cleaning and referring.
After a few days of snarling and hissing at me Tabbs has FINALLY returned to her affectionate sweet self. She is eating wet food and purrs in my arms. Ahhh sweet moments. In 6 weeks she goes back to have her splint removed. Hopefully that will be the end of it. I will NEVER take any of the rest of the 'gang' for a dental checkup. I'll just tie a string around the tooth, attach it to the doorknob and slam it shut! Only kidding!!

Carolina gal, I understand your point, that we are voyeuristic in a way as we watch Kate go about her chores. But I think you give Kate too much credit. Yep, she's 'shopping' and being photographed. But is she really 'just shopping' when she goes out in full hair and makeup dressed like a slut, calls the paps before she goes out and makes sure she's photographed with the boobs hanging out? Is she really just shopping when she goes to Target and only buys two bags of things for a family of 9? Why is she only photographed going to Target, the spa and the bus stop yet never caught going to the plastic surgeon? Why are the nannies conveniently rarely photographed? Kate is not a true paparazzi target. Rather she and her people stage photo ops. US magazine said she delayed starting the Easter egg hunt for her kids until the paps arrived. They also said Jon had planned a hunt himself, but she staged her own and had it photographed the day before he had planned to do his. So yes, we take the bait, but she is hardly the victim here. I think she'd hardly ever be photographed if TLC and her pr team didn't push her so hard on us. The mainstream media and the bigger tabloids mention her less and less these days. I think DWTS was a huge misstep on her part: she exposef herself to a new audience who now hates her and ridicules her. Hopefully her 15 minutes are up.

"re: Amish farmer - saw a photo, full face, and wearing stylish sunglasses. What's up?"

Amish wear sunglasses. It depends on their sect -- Old Order Amish, New Order Amish, Beachy Amish. Each has its own traditions, and rules to follow. New Order Amish are sometimes confused with Old Order Mennonites in that their customs and Biblical interpretations may be quite similar. I could write an entire dissertation on the ways and beliefs of the Plain Sect, and still not know everything there is to know. Despite their being rooted in tradition, their ways do change, often allowing the ways of the "English" to creep in...like sunglasses! They often try to see what they can get away with, and challenge the rules of their elders. It's a very interesting group to study and research.
By the way -- my grandparents were Mennonites and my great-grandfather was Amish. I never saw any of them wearing sunglasses, however!

I'm beginning to wonder about TLC and if they aren't just out to make a huge fool of her. They know she's money hungry and will agree to anything.

JMO.

IDModo said...

What's next after the chicken coop and the fresh eggs? A milking cow for fresh milk? How about a slaughter house for those chickens when she needs fresh chicken meat. I wouldn't be surprised if she has a rew rednecks show up and build her a still out there in the woods. Fresh Moonshine anyone???

But why on earth are they getting chickens? I can't imagine them eating an 'unclean' fresh egg or slaughtering their own (organic only) meat. Chickens are work, and several times a day too.
