Josh Duggar arrested for child pornography, could face up to 20 years in prison

An over two-year investigation finally led to Duggar's arrest by Homeland Security yesterday.

A Springdale man was arrested yesterday for receiving and possessing material depicting the sexual abuse of children.

According to court documents, Joshua James Duggar, 33, allegedly used the internet to download child sexual abuse material. Duggar allegedly possessed this material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019.

Duggar is charged by indictment with receiving and possessing child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years of imprisonment and fines up to $250,000.00 on each count.. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

This case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit: www.justice.gov/psc.

Acting U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas; and Acting Special Agent in Charge Jack Staton of Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans made the announcement.

This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations Fayetteville and the Northwest Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Carly Marshall and Dustin Roberts, and Trial Attorney William G. Clayman of the Justice Department’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

Mostly it'll be whether she knew or had reason to know he might hurt her own kids and whether she ever left them alone with him. I'll say it again, she's LUCKY she doesn't live in a jurisdiction that actually goes after these mothers. Many do, including mine. They'll NAIL YOU.

I sort of thought this was where it could be headed. It is disgusting, disgraceful and all around sad.

I know people have large families but should have been realistic to realize there was no way a family that large could not have seen to so many children and all the goings on. What all their children growing up were doing, who was where and so forth. At least I don't think it's possible today. Then they added putting themselves on television for years.

Not to be rude, but I wouldn't as a wife give him any monitored visits with the children we had after knowing this was true. Even if he was the father. I would want to know my children were safe. Children often are not truthful if they've been harmed by someone they know. I hope his wife now has the sense to do the right thing.

His parents--must be beside themselves. I sure would be! I have no words anymore. They really need to pull back and just be a family not out there on television.

That entire family is disgusting. It has always been sex with the parents, Michelle telling the girls they have to give their husbands sex anytime they want it. Even if you are sick or tired or pregnant. I hope the authorities take a very close look at his children.

This is the "family statement" from their official website:

“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time. The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.” Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar

"Resolved in a timely manner"??? Nope, they don't think he could possibly be guilty...that it must be some misunderstanding. SMH

Frankly, a lot of this is on the parents to begin with, if not all of it. Their child showed at a young age he had a very sick perversion. Instead of handling it as parents should, protecting their daughters from him and ensuring he got intensive, licensed therapy and other intensive, licensed, conventional and proven treatment, they tried to cover it up and pray it all away and have the church try to set him straight. They did their child a grave disservice. If you don't tackle such serious perversions immediately and conventionally when they are young, it's usually impossible to do anything about it. At 33? He's not going to change. The ONLY solution now is to lock him up.

&&

He's legally entitled to visits with his children so she would have to, unless she could get a judge to say he can't see them. It's possible that could happen, though not probable. More likely, he will be told he cannot see any other children but his BIO kids. But, it's unlikely he will ever be allowed to see his kids again without a monitor.

What she can do, however, is she could have made sure those kids were never, ever alone with him. Instead of waiting for the courts to order it.

And that's the thing with these cult like religious sects. I don't care what your religion is. But it really crosses the line when it's harmful to the children. These cults ARE harmful to children. The harm is subtle, and it can take a long time to manifest. But they created this monster, and we have NO IDEA if he could have been stopped because they never tried. But the idea that he might have been stopped if the family treated his problem like a normal family would, is just tragic.

I honestly think this goes back to the Branch Davidians. Some well meaning people really got concerned their cult was harmful to the children, and it likely was. But when they tried to intervene it ended up in a standoff and eventually death. So ever since then everyone is so petrified to try to do anything with these people lest it ends up another PR nightmare.

There are a lot of kids in this family. I wonder if this is giving a lot of them some introspection. Reflecting back on their childhoods and asking themselves some tough questions, like was the way they were raised really the most responsible way to raise a healthy well adjusted adult.

&&&

Yes. Hello Joy! Homeland Security is usually interested in the big rings. They will dismantle them from the bottom up. I'm going to take a guess that Josh didn't just go on the dark web and download a few videos but rather is associated with a larger ring. He's probably just a consumer of what they offer, but when they dismantle these rings, they will pick away at them from the bottom up until they get to the top guys they really want. They use guys like Josh to try to get them information about the guys they really want, and to take away the top guys' clients so they have nothing left. The only catastrophic thing that could happen is that Josh negotiates some kind of plea deal to get off in exchange for helping them find the top guys. Please no!!!

Whew...sadly, I was not completely shocked at the charge. I would also not be shocked to eventually find out there was more abuse and neglect in the Duggar house than was ever imagined.

I'll never forget how Jessa described her brother Josh as "sly." That was as negative a word as she could express for someone who molested her and several other sisters, including a 5-YEAR-OLD. She also claimed the incident was quick, over the clothes, and while she was sleeping. Never could figure out how a sleeping person could assert those first 2 claims, but no one seems to have cared enough to get their facts straight. The priority back then was to keep the Duggar gravy train on the tracks, and, son of a gun, it did.

And that pathetic statement from the parents that they hope the "issue will be resolved in a timely manner?" This isn't a dispute between neighbors over too many noisy parties, you miserable, delusional idiots. Your son has been charged with a federal crime involving children under 12. You failed him and his victims -- your own children! -- when you didn't get him the help he needed 20 years ago. I hope they never see another dime from TLC.

I was somewhat confused by the reports about this. I thought they were saying child porn including children being abused. Both are horrid both are abuse but I think there is no argument the second is more egregious. They weren’t that specific and perhaps we don’t want them to be.

I can't believe you still want to bicker about this, but this is the statement from the press release itself: "Duggar allegedly possessed this material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019."

The confusion came because they use the word "some" as well as sexual "abuse" instead of the more specific term sexual "exploitation." Does that mean some of the children were being sexually abused as in an adult touching or having sex with them, or were they using the term abuse as synonymous with exploitation, which it is, or did they mean some of all of the children who were sexually abused/exploited were under 12, while others were over 12 but ALL were abused/exploited? It's just poor wording, I don't blame them since they probably whipped it up pretty fast upon his arrest, it was just unclear and the other poster's reasonable conclusion it meant the first doesn't deserve such venom.

I didn't realize you were linking to the indictment, since you never said "here is the actual indictment." In any case, I reviewed it, and I think it clears it up that some of the victims were under 12, and some were over 12. It does not go into detail about what specifically the children were made to do in the materials, in fact it does not use the term sexual abuse at all. That came from the press release.

It's always cause for celebration when a sick fuck is being taken off the lines and can no longer harm little children including his own. Homeland Security gets very little fanfare for their work on dismantling child porn rings, but I've been aware for years they are heavily involved in this area and have even gotten to speak to their agents a few times, agency to agency. They are amazing and I choose to celebrate their hard work, they deserve it, especially in this climate when your lot has everybody convinced every encounter with law enforcement is going to end up with a black man shot dead.

For a lot of people, dealing with something as horrific as this with humor is a normal and healthy way to process it. The reddit thread proves that much, it has thousands of snarky comments. I've worked in sexual abuse for 13 years now, good humor is always encouraged by service providers and the best therapists as a healthy way to process the dark realities of the world. If you are a person who chooses not to use humor to process things, that's fine, just make sure you have some other healthy way to process it. Hint: Trolling won't do it.

I never much "got" reddit for the longest time, but I've been on it a lot more during COVID because I've taken up some hobbies over the past year like gardening, juicing, and some basic do it yourself remodeling. It's really great for things like that, I've found that most people are really nice and helpful and want to encourage you, and it's honestly a great resource to find somebody that knows what you're looking for. You COULDN'T join a gardening club or healthy eating club during COVID, so this was a good alternative. It's also good for news, because it tends to attract a lot of boots on the ground locals who have up to date information, and their mods are firm but fair. And go on reddit when a hiker is missing, the way that site is a gathering place to share tips, suggestions, and sightings, has saved lives. It is by no means a site that should be brushed off as junk, it is a very useful tool.

These sort of perverts in my experience are really some of the most delusional, manipulative, sociopathic criminals there are.

They OFTEN are fine church going men and occasioanly women, with good family and friend support, and will often show up to court with that support as they've spent years manipulating them into believing it's simply not possible they could ever, ever do such a thing. It is hard to take them down, it is usually a slow unraveling. Once you do grab a good hold of that thread and start yanking it out stitch by stitch, often that "support" will slither away quietly into the night, poof. Not always though. Some people will continue to stand by, forever.

How sad that that is how people react when the victim is a little child. If that same child were murdered, hit by a car, died in a hot car, no one would dream of defending him.

My heart goes out to his kids and I know this won't be a popular opinion but Anna too. We don't know what she has had to live with since she married him. If he participates in sick behavior involving child porn and other unthinkable acts, imagine what her life may have been like living with this monster. He could have been abusing her all these years too. Remember this is a sick man and we don't know what he could be capable of with his own wife.

The one thing that set alarm bells off in my head was when they got married. Remember they had their first kiss at their wedding. I remember how rough he was when he kissed her. Initially I thought it was just inexperience, but the more I thought about it the more it made me feel uneasy about him.

I came here to let Admin and everyone know that I finally got my vaccine (Admin advised me to not overthink it). I actually got it at home. My mother, who lives with us, is under the care of the Visiting Nurse Association and they gave us all our vaccines in my living room. No overthinking and no crowded arenas or abandoned Sears stores (which where they were offering the vaccine in my city).

Thank God. Happy news. Every vaccine is a step closer to normal. It's the ONLY way out.

Yep, Josh can't be cured. It's kind of like COVID. We can wear masks and socially distance and take away people's life's work all we want, but COVID continued to rage. The ONLY solution is the vaccine. For a pedo, the only solution is incarceration.

Thanks, Admin. We got the Johnson and Johnson, one shot (no pun intended). But I've been having wicked hot flashes since (not sure if it's the shot or just my age LOL).

You're right, Admin, best cure for Josh is incarceration. He shouldn't see the light of day again.

I'm curious though, I haven't followed the Duggars in years, how many more children did Anna have after the other abomination that Josh got caught in? I hope that someone will provide support to his children. Heaven knows, they do and will need it.

An article about Josh Duggar.

"The agent mentioned how downloads from a specific file were made. The agent said the file “is in the top five worst I have ever had to examine,” as it includes children as young at 18 months old" Sick. "The password of one of the programs used to obtain the images was the last four digits of Mr. Duggar's birth year, the same password was used for Josh's bank accounts, websites and more." He's not very bright. I hope he gets the maximum sentence and Daddy Jim Boob doesn't come to the rescue.

More information is coming forward about the child porn charges on Josh. The agents said it has a video of a man performing sex acts on girls between the ages of 5 and 10 plus over 200 pictures of abuse. The agents said it is in the top 5 disgusting of abuse that one can imagine and they had a hard time reviewing the material. I pray he didn't touch his own kids but it is hard to imagine he didn't. Josh Duggar was granted bail and released from jail while he awaits trial on federal child pornography charges. Brian Frank/Reuters
Ex-reality TV star Josh Duggar can await his federal child porn case at a friend’s home, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Duggar, 33, was granted bail and will be placed with a third-party custodian — a family he knows through his church, according to Fox News.

Duggar will reportedly stay in a self-contained space on the custodian’s property, and will not be allowed to use the internet, drink, use drugs or handle guns.

He is allowed to see his children if his wife Anna is present, and leave the home for work and church without prior approval, Judge Christy Comstock reportedly ruled.

“I recommend that you govern your actions by thinking about where you might go and who you might encounter,” Comstock said, according to the report. “You ought not to go to birthday parties, family dinners, church activities, these things that might risk violating this condition.”

Duggar, 33, will be placed with a third-party custodian – a familiar family who are close enough with Duggar and his wife Anna and have also known the family for about six or eight years through their church. The family says they have a self-contained space on their property where Duggar can live while he awaits his looming trial.

......

The third-party custodians will act as court monitors for Duggar and will be required to report any infractions should Duggar commit any while he is living in the residence.

"My husband has a passion and love for ministry to others," a member of the custodial family told the court, adding that her husband is an MRI technician with Veterans Affairs and also performs ministry to local prison inmates. "We want to help the family and we are here to help Josh and Anna in whatever that may be."

Duggar’s father, Jim Bob Duggar, called the family friends and asked that they be third-party custodians for Duggar.

Actually I followed the testimony of this bond hearing on the snark site. The wife of the 3rd party said her husband was asked to do this by Jim Bob. The wife said she would not leave her adult daughter alone with him. Also this quote when she was asked by the prosecution: “Did you feel any pressure or obligation to serve as the third-party custodian?” “My husband has made the decision and I’m here to support that decision.”
I am honestly saddened by this decision of the judge. We have a person that has known and admitted deviant behavior toward minors, and instead of placing him in a facility to treat him until trial, he is sent to another church acquaintance?? When an agent tells a judge that these sites Josh visited are the worst five he has seen? and you grant him bail??

It’s even worse than him going on the dark web. Apparently, the family knew he was addicted to pornography, probably since the scandals back in 2015. So, they put some Christian monitoring software on his computers at work. It’s supposed to send an alert to someone if the user goes to any porn sites. In this case, his wife Anna.

But, Josh thought he’s too smart for that and could just get around it, which he somehow did. So, Anna wasn’t getting any reports and assumed he was behaving (dumb). What a way to live. And then she proceeds to get pregnant every other year. Unbelievable.

https://pagesix.com/2021/05/05/feds-allege-josh-duggar-had-trove-of-child-porn-on-computer/

Ex-reality TV star Josh Duggar allegedly had at least 65 images of child porn on his computer — as well as a program that was supposed to alert his wife when he viewed X-rated material, a federal agent testified in court on Wednesday.

Some of the sick pics were “in the top five of the worst of the worst that I’ve ever had to examine” Homeland Security special agent Gerald Faulkner said during Duggar’s detention hearing in Arkansas, People reported.

....

The computer also had a program called “Covenant Eyes,” which Faulkner described as “accountability software” that monitors and reports vile internet use to a partner, and is meant to help people with porn addictions.

The program, Faulkner alleged, was registered to Duggar and set up to send reports to his wife Anna — who is expecting the couple’s seventh child.

Friends and family allegedly told investigators at the time that Duggar had a porn addiction.

While it took a year and a half for the arrest, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, when can CPS step in or can they?

Do you think that the family has been interviewed, it seems from some testimony they have? Part of the prosecution testimony said the family and friends knew he had a porn addiction. Have his children been questioned or counseled?

Could a state operation like CPS override a federal order and take the kids into protective custody and deny him visitation?

Josh Duggar's Computer Had Software That Would Report Internet Porn Usage to Wife Anna: Officials

The Christian-based program, called Covenant Eyes, is designed to protect users from objectionable content and help monitor the screen activity of those with porn addictions

https://people.com/tv/josh-duggar-computer-had-software-that-would-report-his-internet-porn-usage-to-wife-anna/

In their federal investigation into Josh Duggar, investigators uncovered a program installed on the former 19 Kids and Counting star's computer that monitored his internet usage and would report its findings to his wife, Anna, according to officials.

The program, called Covenant Eyes, was registered under Josh and Anna's name, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Gerald Faulkner said in a virtual detention hearing on Wednesday.

According to Covenant Eyes' website, the program is an "accountability software" that is meant to protect users from objectionable content and help monitor the screen activity of those with porn addictions.

The software "periodically captures screenshots," which are then analyzed by artificial intelligence and sent to a trusted "ally" who can hold the user accountable for their internet usage, the website said.

During Wednesday's virtual detention hearing, Faulkner said Covenant Eyes was unable to detect Duggar's internet usage after a password-protected network was installed on his computer.

According to Faulkner, investigators found child sexual abuse materials on an isolated part of the computer's hard drive that was not monitored by Covenant Eyes.

Covenant Eyes' president and devout Christian, Ron DeHaas, said in a 2008 blog post that he co-founded the project after his "passion and burden for the devastating effects of Internet pornography weighed heavier and heavier, and I could not stop."

"From a business standpoint, or from the standpoint of security of my family, I actually thought about stopping in September, 2000. But God kept opening doors, and I could not stop," DeHaas — who also founded Nehemiah Ministries, a 160-acre retreat and counseling center for pastors and missionaries — wrote.

Covenant Eyes currently has over 150,000 subscribers, according to the company's website.

Josh, 33, was arrested on April 29 on one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He pled not guilty the following day in court.

A judge at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas ruled on Wednesday that Josh will be released from the detention center where he's been held for the last week to designated third party custodians. The judge also ruled that Josh be confined to their home with GPS tracking.

In May 2015, Josh apologized for his "wrongdoing" following the release of a 2006 police report that revealed that he had been investigated as a teen for inappropriately touching five underage girls. His sisters Jill, now 29, and Jessa, now 28, subsequently stepped forward and identified themselves as two of the victims.

Months later, in August 2015, Gawker reported that the oldest Duggar son appeared to have had active accounts on Ashley Madison, a website created to facilitate cheating on your spouse.

Josh ultimately confessed to having a pornography addiction and cheating on his wife in an apologetic statement on the Duggar family website.

"I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife. I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him," the statement read.

If convicted of the current charges against him, Josh could face up to 40 years in prison.

YES CPS courts can make an order more restrictive than the criminal courts, just not less restrictive. Let’s hope Homeland Security cross reported to CPS.

Given how much of total loss Josh and Anna are, is there a provision for monitored family gatherings? Obviously, Josh can't be left unsupervised around any children. Same goes for Anna; I'm not sure if she's aware Josh isn't an innocent corrupted by the Dark Side of The Force. So I question her competence as a parent around Josh. For lack of a better term, these two come across as codependent nutjobs. So these two shouldn't be left alone with children without somebody monitoring all that.

I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Josh is out. His family is backing him, his wife believes some random guy set him up, and he has access to his children as long as Anna is around. There was at least one video of a child "between the ages of 5 and 10" being abused, and this was in 2019. His own oldest daughter was that age. The whole thing is nauseating, and TLC still hasn't cut this bunch loose. I remember years ago, Matt from LPBW said that TLC told them, "the crazier the chatter, the better the ratings". They're waiting to see how this affects ratings before they make a move. If they can make money off the Duggars, then they don't give a flying flip about abuse of children.

There's a petition up on Change.org, demanding that TLC drop all Duggar shows. I signed. If TLC keeps this family on the air, they're as sick as Josh is.

I was not "wrong." I stated the following:

1) That child pornography is, in and of itself, child abuse. It is.

2) That the indictment did not include separate counts for child abuse and child pornography, as the OP stated. It did not.

I never said one word about what was or was not contained among the horrific shit that Josh Duggar downloaded because before yesterday that information had not been made public.

&&&

Oh yeah that's how it went down. So congenial and open minded! Not.

You jumped down someone's throat for simply saying it sounds like this was even worse than a typical child pornography case, and right out of the gate you misquoted them. When it was explained to you nobody was saying what you are saying, you double downed like a crazy person.

Turns out, the HS agent said EXACTLY what we tried to explain to YOU, that child pornography incidents actually DO differ in their severity, not withstanding they are all severe, and he would rank this in his top 5. Top 5!

The fact that were are pointing out how severe this is in no way anyone saying that anyone else possessing images of kids alone is NOT severe. Nobody ever said that, but you started an entire ridiculous fight based on that very point that NOBODY was making. What a time suck. Perhaps this is an attempt to distract from the fact that the feds finally took down this guy, that's the real victory here.

&&&

I believe he is not allowed to be around children except his own according to his bail terms, that's what the articles seem to be saying. Because the judge said you need to be careful about what you show up to like birthday parties, because you can't be around kids. So in other words if he schedules a visit with his kid at a birthday party but there are other kids there, he's in violation. Hence I believe the judge was saying, just don't go to the bday party in the first place you'll risk a violation.

Mel said...

It gets worse.

The family he was released to has a 22 year old daughter who teaches piano lessons to minors from their home.

There are guns in the home, but no gun safe.

The wife said on the stand that she was afraid to be home alone with Josh during the day while her husband was at work. She was also afraid to have her daughter alone with him.

She said, however, that it was her husband's decision to let Josh stay in the mother-in-law suite and she would support the husband's decision.

They would remove the guns and piano lessons from the home.

They would ensure that Josh had no access to computers or telephones other than the telephone his probation officer authorizes. He can only use the phone to call attorneys and the court. Uh huh.

Perfect place for Josh to stay, eh?

In light of Josh's premeditated and successful efforts to get around the precautions put in place earlier (ever heard of Covenant Eyes? Know how to by-pass it?) it's highly unlikely that this family has *any* idea how to prevent Josh from any bad behavior, or even know that he is engaging in it.

He could be doing anything right in front of them and they wouldn't even know it.

His kids don't stand a chance. SMDH.

To top it off, the judge was just appointed May 1, 2021. Before that she was a partner in a law firm that defended commercial truckers.

Highly unlikely that she understands *anything* about serial predators?

Just how many chances to abuse are we going to give this guy anyway? He's shown over and over that he's incapable of behaving himself. $10 says he won't make it to trial without further infractions. He has shown that he is unable to control himself, even in the face of jail time or other punishment. Even with things clearly spelled out, as in a 'stern talking to', as in don't go to that birthday party.

This is a very strong need that he has. He is one entitled, smug dude who thinks he isn't accountable to anyone for anything.

Anna is supposedly not cooperating with CPS to evaluate their children.

Those poor kids.

Well, I'm just done floored a judge would let such an individual out before their trial like that. Especially if they said they had reservations. How many times is this guy going to get to skate? It's just sick. On the other hand maybe setting him up for failure, too, that's an option.

I have my doubts, call me crazy, that Josh as a teenager cam clean to his parents about ALL his supposed, "wrongdoings." I mean as parents, do we all really know what our kids got up to? Do our kids tell us everything they ever did? Do we as parents also know all that our kids did that got them into trouble? I'm admit right now I probably don't know all my son got up to with his friends as he got older even if I knew his friends, I'm fairly certain he sure as heck didn't tell me as his mother everything that went on because face it kids just don't up and outright fess up. It's not going to happen no matter how open your lines of communication are that's bull.

My son is a grown man and he finally just a few months ago came clean with, yeah mom...I'm the one who instigated the great toothpaste battle not M (even though I let her take the wrap for it all these years.) So, point is I kinda have my doubts Josh has ever up and truly confessed to Jim and Michelle all the potential victims he's possibly had access to over the years. And another truth is victim's who are hurt like that don't speak often for years, or ever.

He's probably a real piece of work to the point who knows what's going to come out at trial. So yeah, I pity his parents. Having all those kids over the years letting kids bring up kids instead of being actual parents and noticing who knows what they missed. How much access he's really had to no just his siblings, but his sibling's friends, church kids, home school kids and that venue, conferences, his kids' friends, cousin's, his sibling's and their kids, neighbors and their kids, people he knows from work and their kids. I feel slimy just thinking about all that access. It's not normal.

I know nothing about the dark web, how one would access it, find it, what it's about really. But I sure hope that judge is able to sleep at night knowing he's possible able to have pulled the wool over so many people's eyes before and yet he's out on bail.

He had to work hard to do this, he had to research and ask question and I wouldn’t be surprised if multiple other men helped teach him how to get material for his jollies. Like I said you don’t just stumble into this. It’s work.

------------------------------------------------------

I figure, at the very least, one needs a TOR-enabled browser to get on the dark web. TOR (The Onion Router) was developed by the Naval Research Laboratory in the mid-90's as a way to help keep spies anonymous when they were online [more details at https://en.wikipedia.or/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network)]. Anybody who's interested enough in a TOR browser can probably also find instructions on what to do after getting online.

As for partitioning a computer, that depends on what one means by that.

In Windows 10, it's not hard for anybody to hide a disk partition by unassigning the drive letter used to access it. Normally, this is done for recovery partitions on a Windows machine. Unless one is doing disaster-recovery, one doesn't need the recovery partition to be that visible. So creating a hidden partition on a disk is within Josh's wheelhouse.

The other partitioning would involve creating virtual machines with VHDs (virtual hard disks) attached. The VHDs are in actuality large binary files. To get inside those VHDs one would either use the virtual-machine software or a utility that can access VHDx if the virtual-machine software isn't running. Unless Josh is running Linux, he'll have to buy the virtual-machine software.

Another thing I wouldn't put past Josh is a Bitcoin wallet of some kind. If one sets up the Bitcoin environment properly, one can do totally anonymous transactions. Josh could be driven enough to go this route if he has to pay for anything.

That's HORRIBLE!!!! Are there any articles about this?

I'm so paranoid they might just be using Josh to bring somebody bigger down and cop some kind of weak plea like 18 months or something. They've put 20 years out there very strongly, almost like they're getting everyone amped up hey it's 20 years OR ELSE. Wanna settle?

Saving grace, Josh is probably too stupid to take a good deal.

The agent said: “October 2019, the IP address was assigned to Joshua Duggar with an address in Springdale, Arkansas."

An HP desktop computer from the car lot, a MacBook laptop in an RV Josh arrived in and Josh’s cell phone were confiscated by authorities.

Though Josh was not informed of the reason for the investigation, he asked authorities if someone downloaded child pornography on his computer.

Josh admitted he had a TOR browser on his computer, which gives him access to the dark web anonymously. The agent explained how the child pornography could be found on the dark web.

Josh Duggar's child porn charges are 'absolutely not a shock,' sources say: 'People like him don't change'

The disgraced '19 Kids and Counting' star was released from jail and is awaiting trial in July

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/josh-duggars-child-porn-charges-not-shock-sources

Josh Duggar is facing prison time after being indicted on federal child pornography charges last week -- but sources in Arkansas who are familiar with the disgraced "19 Kids and Counting" star tell Fox News his alleged crimes aren't shocking at all.

"They're absolutely not a shock to me and honestly it makes me angry because if the parents had done something about this before, who knows how many children would have been saved," a former neighbor of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's, who wished to remain anonymous, told Fox News.

Josh, 33, was granted release by a federal judge on Wednesday as he awaits a July trial on charges that he downloaded and possessed child pornography. He previously apologized for a pornography addiction and cheating on his wife after a bombshell report in 2015 revealed he molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. Duggar's parents said he had confessed to the fondling and apologized.

The former neighbor added that residents of Washington County have been weighing in on Duggar's purported crimes since his April 29 arrest.

"Everyone I've talked to feels disgusted by this but yet they aren't surprised," the ex-neighbor continued.

Another source familiar with the Duggar family and lives in Arkansas agreed.

"As a mass majority of residents here, he disgusts me," the Washington County resident said.

However, the second source admitted their "honest" reaction was "not shocked."

"You can't be surprised when a skunk actually makes you smell bad," the source added.

As for if and how much time Duggar should spend behind bars, the sources agreed they'd like to see him spend decades behind bars.

"It's ridiculous he got released from jail. He is definitely a danger and he should not have been released," the first source said. "Child molesters, I feel, deserve capital punishment. I think he should go to jail for the rest of his life. He's sick. People like him don't change."

"It always feels good to get an alleged child molester off the street and the longer the better," said the second insider, adding that if Duggar is convicted on more than one count, they hope his sentences will not be concurrent.

"If there are multiple charges, I think the only comfort that could be for each individual victim if there are more than one is to have each 20-year sentence not run concurrent. Get truth and justice for each victim," said the source. "He should be considered a habitual offender and get enhanced sentencing."

Another source tells Fox News that Duggar's alleged crimes -- even dating to his past 2015 molestation scandal -- have given Washington County, Arkansas a bad reputation.

"If you meet somebody and are like, 'Hey! I'm from Northwest Arkansas,' more times than once [he's] mentioned. If the correlation is made, I feel slightly embarrassed, like great, that's what we're known for," the source said.

Following his release from jail, Duggar, 33, will be placed with third-party custodian Maria and Lacount Reber – a family to Duggar and his wife, Anna. The Rebers say they have a self-contained space on their property where Duggar can live while he awaits his looming trial.

An attorney for Duggar did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

It's great to hear locals are sick of this shit. I think sometimes Arkansas is portrayed as a bunch of fundie backwards unintelligent hicks, and that's just not the case. They know a child molester when they see one, and want him hung high.

Interesting the reports that Anna and Ma and Pa Duggar are at war. Anna blames them.

I mean, she should blame them for their utterly horrid parenting back in the day, fair enough. But Josh made those mouse clicks years later, not Ma and Pa.

Arrested in 2015, Peter Scully's now serving a life sentence in the Phillipines. Peter didn't send child pornography to Josh, rather a file including Peter's despicable movie was found downloaded on Josh's computer:
TW: At 5:25 user of desktop downloads a file called “DD” that is known in the ICAC circle. Faulkner says that this series ranks in the top 5 of the worst CP he’s had to examine.
Under questioning by federal prosecutors, Faulkner told the judge that investigators found evidence of a known series of child pornography on Duggar's computer at his car dealership business, some of it depicting sexual abuse of children as young as 18 months old. One series, he said, is called Daisy's Destruction.
"It ranks in the top five of the worst, worst I’ve ever had to examine," Faulkner testified.
Here's more on Scully. Be warned, parts of this inteview are graphic & disturbing.

I guess it's a good thing Josh's material appeared to be material already known to authorities, so maybe they're not looking for a new guy.

It's really sad to think though how hard it is to remove material from the web even if you catch the ringleader.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think the biggest factor that got Josh out is that there is no evidence he has been abusing kids in person in over a decade. When we're talking about danger to society, if you remove his internet, the only danger left is physical in-person abuse. If you go further to monitor his contact with children, in theory he can't abuse them. Thus a judge has to let him out with a safety plan like that.

Do I think there's a very high risk he HAS sexually abused some kids in person including his own? Sure do. But there's no evidence of it that we know of.

Thank goodness he’s such a dumb S.O.B. to use those passwords, because there goes his defense that it was some other guy(s) using the computer at his car lot.

&&&

Not that I care about that POS, but I thought it was a little strange that the feds mentioned oh and he uses his birthdate as his password for a lot of other sites like banking. Seems like it would be pretty easy knowing this information now for a hacker to get right into his bank accounts now, and Josh can't change the password since he's banned from the internet. Maybe Anna can step in!

Maybe they don't five an F he gets his identity stolen. I like their style.

So, point is I kinda have my doubts Josh has ever up and truly confessed to Jim and Michelle all the potential victims he's possibly had access to over the years.

I have no doubt at all that Josh did not confess to everything that he had done.

I read someplace that a person will have committed at least 10 times more things than what they have confessed to.

For example, if Josh confessed to 7 instances of contact, in reality the assumption is that he had at least 70 instances of contact. There is no doubt in my mind that he did not confess everything.

It would be interesting to know what took so long to get to an arrest.

If the computers were confiscated in May of 2019 what was going on did it took until April of 2021 to get an arrest?

Think Jim Bob was negotiating or judge shopping behind the scenes?

So Anna Duggar -- a first class, grade A, black belt enabler -- is expected to help keep her fetid pedophile husband on the straight and narrow? I can imagine her coming into this family's house with her 6 kids in tow (and one on the way), wearing a giant trenchcoat like a pusher in an old movie: opening it to reveal an assortment of burner phones and laptops and pills and booze to help His Majesty get through this difficult time so he can come back home to her. She has the Duggar Kool-aid running through her veins and dripping out of every pore. I'll he happy for her to prove me wrong, but it's a helluva long shot.

Wonder how many of the 423 Duggar kids will write flowery tributes to their sainted mommy today? The one who let their brother molest their sisters and still remain her favorite?

I know I'm late but I do hope everyone here had a nice Mother's Day, pet parents included.

I also had a thought. What in the world would become of Anna should Josh end up serving time, no matter the length? It doesn't strike me that she has a set of job skills per say? She could have I suppose invested money from her husband but if he's given the maximum of 20 years, what are the ramifications in the long run that she's looking at? Possibly being able to support seven children with no real education other than a high school/GED degree? No realty television income, no husband to any longer be that, "good provider," I doubt a prison job pays well enough. And I sincerely doubt her in-laws, Jim Bob and Michelle would bank roll her for the long-term.

Though I do have concern they might/may seek custody of their grandchildren. They strike me as those type of people.

I don't know just my thoughts here when one is in such denial as she is she might not even be look at those aspects of how she's going to feed, support, clothe, education, medical expenses of seven children when her husband is looking at being incarcerated and she'll have no means of supporting or caring for them afterwards among a laundry list of other problems. Combined finances, possible divorce expenses you name it. Another place to live if her in-laws no longer want her living on their property. How to deal with taxes, I do not think she knows how to file anything since it's painfully clear Josh was able to hide close to a $1,000 from her and she took no notice.

Yep. I completely stumbled upon an old interview with Elizabeth Montgomery the other day where she was talking about her lead role in the miniseries Awakening Land, which is a pre-Revolutionary War piece about an Ohio family. I've read the book in high school and it was excellent. I've seen bits and pieces of the series. In any case, she was reflecting on how back then everything depended on who you married and you really had no choice but to marry someone who could take care of you and your kids even if you didn't love them. And if that person ever left by choice or not, you were pretty f-ed.

She sounded like a very modern woman for her time who absolutely couldn't believe women were once reduced to something like that.

But, it's still going on. Anna is NOTHING without Josh, and if he's going away for awhile, she's up a creek.

kris said...

I feel like JB & Michelle should financially support her. Because crap flows down from the top and JB is at the top of this mess. Yes, Josh ultimately made the decisions he did but if his parents hadn't failed him all those years ago, maybe he would have made different choices.

But if I was Anna - I would be RUNNING away from this whole mess. I wouldn't want their $$ or help in any way, shape or form.

Her parents failed her too. They should have been setting their daughter up to be able to be independent minus a man. But their mindsets are so warped, that's all she was groomed to be. A good dutiful wife.

I'm a Christian (and I feel a conservative one at that) but I just can't wrap my mind around their mindsets.

With seven kids now she's not saddled to this family and can't run away. I think my best advice to her, which she'll NEVER do, is literally move away with the kids. Find a trusted friend who lives in a different state, commit to living there at least a year and starting over. Get a job, do night classes and go to therapy weekly. Cut off contact with Josh with the exception of court ordered visitation.

She's pretty doomed otherwise.

At the risk of dating myself, I remember watching that miniseries and being very impressed with Elizabeth Montgomery's performance. The way she "caught" her husband (Hal Holbrook) was out of the ordinary (but maybe not for those times. In the miniseries, her sister (played by Jane Seymour) was married to a good looking cad who ran off with another woman and left her isolated in their house with a hungry bobcat? roaming around. She was never the same mentally and the husband/cad eventually met a bad end.

I see some parallels with the story of Josh and Anna. Except Doughboy is not good looking although he is a cad and more. The isolation in the fundie world, Josh's bad end (fingers crossed he's locked up for a long time) and Anna's mental state.

Looks like both the book and the DVD are available thru Amazon.

Oh, surely you jest! Kate can't go back, remember? She's said so many, many times. Finally, perhaps, she has come to realize that she does not control the narrative. She thought she could will things to happen (filming forever), but she was wrong. Now, as I'm sure she is well aware, her time for being able to sell the remaining kids' childhoods and pocket the cash is almost over. They'll be adults in less than a year. She won't be able to sign contracts for them or take all the money earned by their work. Of course, that seems like a moot point now, since nobody has shown the slightest bit of interest in filming her, having her as a guest on their show, taking her picture. IIRC, she made some comment in the Halloween episode about how they'll still be doing photo shoots after they're dead. Nope! After all those opportunities that were dropped in her lap--she could have, with a little effort, become a billionaire like the Kardashians did, she had all the same opportunities--she ended up living a mediocre life in Nowheresville, NC. Not what she had in mind, is it?

Things are so busy here! Spending lots of time exploring NYC, and Baby K due in 15 days!!!! Can't wait.

I loved how in the book, there was this interesting paradox where women were so important and central to the family, yet treated as so unimportant. It was like the women themselves didn't understand how strong and important they were. The lead character just has tragedy after tragedy, all fairly typical for the time period, and she just soldiers on and takes care of her family and is the family's rock. I think her husband realizes in the end what a gem he married.

William H. Macy was in The Awakening Land!

This harkens me back to when we would do viewing parties here! It's just hard to find this miniseries or I would love to watch it.

It can take a long time for a judge to believe a parent is being alienated. Five years even. But once they come around hopefully they do the right thing and give the alienated parent custody--only problem is the kids are still alienated and it will take extensive therapy to work through that.

And look at Angelina whining that the trial was "unfair." Gimme a break, how so?

Thank you, FlimsyFlamsy and Dmasy! It was a roller coaster of a day for sure. She arrived yesterday morning, and we were all overjoyed, but then DIL got very sick. Horrible headache--it hurt to move her head or even to blink, uncontrollable shaking, vomiting. They realized that she had a spinal fluid leak from the epidural, so had to do a blood patch--they inject some of her own blood right into her spine next to the leak, and her blood clots and seals off the leak. It worked immediately, but it was a terrifying time for everyone. DS spent the night in the hospital to take care of the baby so she could get some rest, and now she's feeling great. Now we have a wonderful, healthy DIL and our beautiful, healthy Baby K.

We're so happy and relieved that she's okay now.

Baby K is already showing so much personality! She is very vocal, she loves skin-on-skin contact with Mommy, she lifted her head up by herself today, and she still hates being swaddled. Hopefully they can come home tomorrow. DS came home to spend some time with Sully, and the little guy was so happy to see him! He wouldn't let his daddy out of his sight. Congrats Layla. Grandchildren are awesome. What happened to her is actually quite common. Having worked in a busy ER we would do this procedure a lot. But I am glad she is feeling better and enjoy your granddaughter. I know everone is over the moon about her.

Kate from Jon and Kate plus 8 moved in down the street from my grandparents and they said she leaves her dogs shit all over the street and she got an HOA violation on the first day

Thanks again, everyone! We're all enjoying the heck out of Baby K, and Sully just adores her. He can't pronounce her name, of course, so we're teaching him to call her by her initials, KC (her middle name is Claire). For now he calls her "Tee-tee". He runs around and plays like normal, but constantly stops to go check up on how she's doing. He loves watching her, and laughs when she wriggles and squirms and opens her eyes to look at him. He'll reach out and touch her hand "Tee-tee han'" or her face "Tee-tee no (nose)". He gives her lots of kisses and hugs, and today wanted to share his apple slices with her. He's the best big brother ever!

Is anyone surprised that Kate doesn't pick up after her dogs? I remember reading in Robert's book about how they'd get out and she ignored them, even driving away once with them standing in the road. As far as cleaning up their poo, she of course believes she's above doing such things, and is probably furious that anyone dared to complain about her. And, of course, she's lazy.

Gee I wondered how she was going to handle neighbors after being so secluded for years. I never thought about an HOA's rules. How long she will put up with being told what to do. hahaha

The real story folks: the remaining slaves, er, I mean kids are slacking on their chores now that there's now way for her to bribe them with TLC paid trips or other goodies and they're not small enough to be so easily over powdered.

Layla congrats on the new baby. She is beautiful. What does K stand for on her name? KC is a nice nick name.

I wonder if she just opens the door and let’s the dogs run free to potty since that’s what’s she’s used to doing. I really can’t picture any of the walking the dogs let alone cleaning up after them. They’d better learn how to do that quick! Mady has some new TicTok videos up with them in a boat on the lake. TFW can be seen in the background.

Her name is Kerrigan Claire, and she is an absolute delight! She is one week old, and we have noticed that she really reacts to her adoring big brother. She really focuses on him, and gets more animated--kicking and squirming--when she sees him. She just can't wait to be able to get up and play, and he can't wait til she can join him.

The surviving Gosselin captives may prefer to be in North Carolina right now. I can't really see them living oin close proximity to each other in that "small" house though and with 3 dogs to boot.

Layla, your granddaughter is adorable and such a pretty name. Two of them to dote on now.

The younger kids are in a new school now. Couldn’t it have hurt for Kate to wait a few years for them to graduate from their old school before moving? Selfish. I wonder if she put them in the local public school or some of the private schools in the area?

Layla, congrats on the new baby! Glad mom and baby and rest of family are doing well.
JM, thanks for sharing the tweet. Wonder if it's legit? Certainly sounds like what we expect from The Former Mrs. Jon Gosselin

JM (#184), thanks for posting that tweet. Not a surprise at all. I bet TFW absolutely despises having neighbors. But, as BlueJay noted (#187), TFW most definitely isn’t walking the dogs. The kids are doing that, and they apparently haven’t been instructed to clean up after them.

As far as her new house and property, I have to say there is little to nothing that I like about it. But, that’s her problem, not mine.

I just scrolled through all the pics and really can’t figure out what she saw in this house. At the bottom of the page, there are other similar houses and I clicked on a few of them. They’re all much, much nicer than hers. Newer, larger, more modern, better layout, better lot, and less expensive. I can’t for the life of me understand why she chose that house. Yes, it’s on a lake, but everything else about it is eh.
