That's SO nice. I like this post! A real, happy family for H and C at last. Collin looks great, much slimmer and healthier and smiling! I hope he gets orthodontia which is only fair since all the tups did- with their money or special offer or whatever. He looks comfortable, like he was never anywhere else except with Jon and Colleen but we all know the baggage of his past he seems to be managing well. All the best to this family!

At least 2 of the kids will now have a normal childhood. It is so great to see their happiness. If Kate would have co-parented, all the kids could have had this nice weekend.

I love this picture. What a novel idea for a hot tub, too. Collin is as creative as he is sensitive. And I'm glad to see him really enjoying himself, not walking around like a zombie. Well done, Jon and Colleen.

Someone just posted on Kate's IG that Canada only got the first two episodes of K8+D8 while it was airing here. As I understand it from reading comments elsewhere, this also happened in the UK. So what's that all about?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

And the kids got to bring friends along. Some of my happiest memories as a teen were our 4-5 day summer trips where we were allowed to bring along a bestie. We would go up to Old Forge almost every summer. Every family should have a go-to getaway that's cheap and fun.

Collin also looks and acts like a kid who is getting holistic treatment. He looks healthy, alert, and balanced. Not just drugged out or spending all his time with service providers, but a kid who is getting everything he needs from a variety of different angles. This is a happy ending, or beginning, to what looked like a very doomed situation.

And, according to Colleen, he was on the honor roll at school last year. He is thriving in this loving environment. I hope that the others start to visit Jon again and experience this for themselves. They would all benefit.

Unfortunately all of this neglect and abuse might not hit him until he’s a little older... I’m sure he’ll need some help with the fact that his own mother abandoned him... it’s hard to believe this won’t back up on him... thank god the damage has stopped

I wonder who’s next to get the boot from Kate...there’s always someone who can’t give her want she wants...no ones immune .... even her own children which we predicted years ago

All the episodes from K8+D8 were available in this part of Canada.

Jon works at real jobs/ no tv cameras; he fell in love and has sustained a years long relationship/ no tv cameras and most impressive he went to visit his child and did everything he could to get his child home with him to love/ no tv cameras. He is such an impressive parent compared to kate. (People Mag. picked up this story!)

Thanks. I can't figure out what happened with the various offshore airing schedules. I know the UK people said they only ever got two (it was frequently commented on at the time the third and subsequent episodes aired in the US), and then this person today with the claim about Canada. Oh well . . .

I love seeing Collin leaning up against Colleen like that. Kate always avoided physical contact with her kids, but Collin and Colleen seem to have a closer, more affectionate relationship. Colleen is more of a mother to him than his birth mother was ever capable of being. Jon found himself a keeper. And I'm happy to see that Hannah got to bring along her friends and spend time with them. Just like any normal teenager should be able to do. Meanwhile the other kids are sitting at home with only each other to interact with--unless they're filming and TLC is picking up the tab. Who's the mediocre parent now?

I forgot which one of the posts mentions it but Collin has a friend along too. That’s awesome that he’s made friends after being out of regular school for so long. Gollygee would have really enjoyed this post.

I like that Hannah was not forced to stop what ever she was doing to appear in a photo. That is what would have happened if they had been filming with Kate.

I know I've said this before, but I think these Insta pictures are the only glimpses of her estranged son that TFW has seen since she sent him away. Does it tug at her heart, even for a second, to see the little boy she kicked out growing into a young man? Does she miss anything about him? Or does she only feel anger at Jon, and now Colleen? There is something profoundly damaged about her.

Sad thing is her pride will prevent her from ever parenting this boy again. This whole thing is not her fault, it's Collin's. And because Collin's struggles did have various degrees of impact on filming, she resents him. Even if deep down she knows it's to his fault, she still resents him.

Jon and Colleen are the type who would take Kate back in a heartbeat, do everything they could to help Collin have a mother again, whether that's conjoint therapy or meditation or WRAParound or whatever it took. Anything so Collin could have his beloved mother in his life.

Really, thank God for Colleen. Collin really is the type of child who will just never feel fully secure without two parents in his life, at least two loving, dedicated, steadfast adults who will never leave him. I think the only thing that could make this boy feel more secure is a forever ring on Colleen's finger. Let's go, Jon!

Giff said...

I think Kate DOES miss Collin, in the fact that without him, there will never be another Kate plus 8 in her future. Her sending him away and leaving him there instead of giving him to his father, will always hang over her. It's bad enough to dismiss your parents and siblings from your life, but it's a whole different level of coldness and cruelty to do this to your own child.

Admin, I think it is kind and respectful when you mention Golly Gee and remind us of how invested she was in the lives of the G children.

That photo radiates warmth. As Layla commented, the physical contact seems so natural. Colin made a silly hot tub and they shared his creation on social media. Opposite of the TV scene with the bear and her cub!

As Flimsy asked, what does Kate think? It probably matters most if she fails to keep her poisoned thoughts to herself. She does not need to be sharing any toxic comments with the other children. It is easy for me to imagine that she is chewing on her sour heart and feels quite bitter about this serge of positive attention toward Jon.

I mentioned in a post long ago that I though Colleen must be a very special lady. Bless her and what she has offered a child who needed healing.

I have mentioned before that my siblings and I grew up with a woman who had limited maternal instincts. She abhorred being touched -- or as she called it -- "mauled" by us. Her moods and needs defined the quality of our days. There was no Colleen who arrived like a fairy Godmother with love and affection. Colin seems to understand and appreciate how special she is.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Dmasy (#21), thanks for your candor about a subject which is tender for many of us. Instead of being bitter about what you were deprived of as a child, you seemed to have found other sources of joy in your life.

But TFW, unbeknownst to her, has turned her bitterness and anger into part of her brand. And no casting agency, TV network, production company, dating coach or psychic friends hotline will ever be able to help her find a healthy relationship until she takes a good, hard look at her issues.

Kate seems to think that K+8 is coming back, even though Collin and Hannah are gone and Mady and Cara are leaving in a few weeks. Ratings were bad when she had 7 kids--how does she expect to bring in an audience with only 4? I'm taking an "I'll believe it when I see it" stance on the show
coming back. I just can't see TLC taking a chance on something like that--but, of course, they were dumb enough to sign of on the dating show so who knows?

Dmasy (21)
I'm so sorry about your mother. You turned out to be an amazing lady despite her, and you deserve a lot of credit for that.

I'm sorry admin, but I could never see the words "beloved mother" and Kate in the same sentence. She has never been a beloved mother to any of her children.

Just for a little giggle, I bring you the ratings for the show that replaced K+D8. The Family Chantel got 1.386M viewers for the same night, same time slot, and same lead-in as K+D8. The viewers have made it clear that they just aren't interested in watching Kate.

Kate cannot film the remaining 4 kids without Jon signing off which he will never do. So Kate plus 7 is totally out for now.

From Dmasy --

Layla and Flimsy Flamsy, thank you so much. I probably didn't realize that my statement would sound so sad. It was just meant to be a frame of reference.

Many of us have spoken about childhood experiences which helped us recognize Kate's flaws in the early days of the show. Clues.

I am one of seven children. My siblings are the best people and parents and grandparents I know. When we speak of our parents (gone several years now) we do so with respect and some humor. I have four sisters and we consider each other to be best friends. We chose bonding instead of dissension.

We all have the choice to follow the pattern of our childhood or to do something different or opposite. My siblings and I chose to go a gentler and kinder way with our own families.

My mother was never a very happy or content person. She faithfully followed the "rules" established for a good Catholic woman and a farmer's wife. Her temperament wasn't suited to either. But, she was of a generation that had fewer choices. She married a soldier fresh from overseas and WWII and left the East coast to live in the midwest. She would never get over missing her NY family or that lifestyle.

As an adult, I understand and feel sympathy for her.

I have a picture of her in the last months of her life. She looks so tiny and is dressed primly. She is sitting a a wheelchair. All 5 of her daughters surround her. Everyone is smiling. We were all together on that day to help arrange her new room in the nursing home. Her mind was fading, but she still recognized her children.

Hopefully, she was proud of the women she had influenced.

Yeah, this is crazy. I see sooo many people saying how much they dislike this new show, yet viewership is outstripping K8+D8 by two to one. It's fascinating to have seen, in the recent past, the casting call from 2012 (!) for a version of the show she FINALLY got on the air in 2019. I wonder how many "scenarios" she's got left up her sleeve to try to sell to unwitting production companies. I mean, people putting shows on MTV and VH1 are accustomed to audiences of 500-750K on the regular. Somehow, though, I think that K8 is not allowed to make overtures to anyone else. I wonder if she sold her "exclusivity" (I can't help but LOL as I write that) to TLC high or low.

TFW's silence after Jon's flurry of publicity has me thinking she's getting her narc supply filled elsewhere. You don't suppose TLC is filming one last episide of her seeing the twins off to college? Yes, her dating show ratings tanked, but the network may have committed to this ahead of time, thinking there'd be renewed interest in Mady and Cara. And that would explain all her winking nonsense when she said there was more ahead. Just a theory!

Turtle (Amy2) said...

Over the years TFW has done everything she could to destroy Jon. Yet like Rocky (loved that movie) he took the hits again and again, and today he's in relationship with a kind women. He took everything she threw at him and survived. Good for him.

BlueJay has left a new comment on your post "Kate Plus Date press tour and June airdate announc...":

I have to wonder when this new reality dating show flops, and who is kidding who, it will, what she's really going to do then. I mean I hardly see it lasting like Jon & Kate did or Kate plus 8 did for all those years. I put it down to quit beating a dead horse. She's not getting any younger. Sad really. Good news Wal Mart is always hiring.

It's possible she and the twins are doing some kind of off-to-college thing for TLC. It's her last chance to cash in on them, and as far as we know Jon hasn't signed off to allow her to film the younger kids. It might be a 1-2 episode special, but I don't think they'll have enough content for anything more.

I wonder how Kate feels about Jon and Colleen. She can't pass it off as a new-girlfriend-every-week thing--they have been together for 4 years now and obviously they are in love. Liz complained that Kate would roll up the window and drive away when she tried to talk to her, but Colleen is raising/lives with two of the kids. Kate's persona as an overworked, overburdened mother is not going to work with only 4 kids at home. She didn't find love on her dating show. If she's with Steve, she has to know by now that he's not leaving his wife for her. And she'll be truly alone in a few years, while knowing that the man she tried to destroy is with someone else and not alone. If that doesn't hurt then she has no feelings.

There are actually 7 videos to watch, one of which is the Season 1 trailer, which they list as "Episode 0".

So I guess they consider the trailer to be an "episode".

It also shows 7 episodes on the TLC go. The 7th video isn’t an actual episode, but just a trailer video. Nothing more. Which is pretty misleading

JustMissy (#40), I really do think they're shooting a 7th episode with TFW seeing Mady and Cara off to college. That'd be a super low budget endeavour -- just airfare and hotel for Schmoops and Steve, plus maybe footing the bill for some sightseeing wherever the colleges are. The rest would be old clips of the twins, and sappy poke-and-dab interviews of Mommie Dearest claiming she raised them alone.

Sad but true said...

Yeah, I was confused by that, too. But I think the 7 includes "Episode 0," which is in fact a trailer for the show. Maybe their computer did the counting and wasn't overridden by a human.

Flimsy - I don’t think that there’d be any airfare involved at all. Both schools are within easy driving distance of their home. Load up the BBB and off they can go on a road trip to drop off one and then the other. If they are filming something like this I can’t think of anything more boring....unless it’s her fake date show of course.

In other news, while watching Dr. Pimple Popper tonight I saw a commercial for an upcoming show, Dr. Emma, a consulting dermatologist, who appears to travel to patients with worse dermatological conditions than I've ever seen on Dr. Pimple Popper. British or Scottish accent. Can't find anything on Google. At the end of tonight's episode there was also a commercial for another new show My Feet Are Killing Me. Not for people with weak stomachs. Didn't TLC have one or two shows last year about people with foot conditions.

Anyway, doesn't look like there's room in the TLC lineup for a show about a bitter botoxed biddy trying to find "love."

I find it incredibly odd, not to mention sad you know for someone who claims to have had those children because she wanted those children SO badly, she was SO excited to have twins, then she laid on bed rest to have those sextuplets and on and on you name it all about providing for the children and such and such.

I ponder this. She seems to have spent an awful lot of time you know more devoted to parking and staying on television then just BEING with her children. As in you know like most mothers. And when I say most mothers that covers, well most mothers as in whatever their situations is. Whether that's a full time stay at home mother, a mother who works from home, a mother who works outside the home, whether that's a two parent house, a single father household as well, whatever, a grandmother who raises the children any situation you come up with that makes a family these days. That's a devoted mother, devoted parent. Someone whoever it is who at end of their day whatever that looks like spends time with their children instead of trying to force themselves to be devoted to this rather pathetic looking reality stint as she appears to be.

She just doesn't seem to be able to want to work a real job. You know you can be the poorest family out there and be a happy stable family. You don't need to provide your children with every opportunity out there to make them happy but just your own personal best that's all your children ask for from you.

Example I have is when we were raising our three children in the late 70's and the 80's in the 90's two girls and a boy I worked outside the home as did my husband. I came home one day from my job and my youngest daughter M at that time was 4-5 years old I laid down on the couch and she says to me oh I guess you're too tired to bake cookies you promised we would do. That's right, mom forgot!

I look at Kate in old episodes she always seems to be just screeching, rattled, oh my god I'm too tired I'm worn out, this at that I need MY space, don't come past the island but then says to the camera I'm all about my kids on and on. Not saying as a parent I didn't have days come kingdom come when my son launched one of his toy rockets through our kitchen window with one of friends when he said they were trying to become scientist and work for NASA with a note attached and I told him you know what Houston has a problem with you, come here, NASA is NOT through MY kitchen window buster.

I was exhausted but I did get up off my couch and bake said cookies, we got eggshell in the batter to scrape out and I listed to all her chatter, about her cat, her favorite color. I remember she dropped the entire carton of eggs all over the floor. But by the time you get to be my age you know what I ponder if it's going to be worth it to Kate to have been so hell bent on was it WORTH it to her to be so up in arms about covering her counter with a flipping trash bag because she had another mess to clean up?

Which is very sad. We raised our children in a modest house. The girls shared a bedroom, they had handed down clothes for some years. Sometimes our vacations we're just to the next town over. One year was a local camping site and my husband taught our girls to pretend to fish by catching them in their hands and letting them go. Another winter I took just our son up a snow hill to slide down on cardboard. Sure it fell apart but HE remembers the good time we had.

I shall be quite glad for myself in a few months personally. My husband and I after years of all our mediocre savings and such will be able to go on our trip to Europe. As retired couple we now have the ability to do this. I just hope myself will be able to handle such a long trip...sigh. I hope everyone here is not suffering in heat of summer. Happy August.

Someone mentioned Milo a couple of says ago. I too have been wondering about her. She appeared to be a sincere good woman, despite her devotion to K8. When I say 'sincere good woman' I mean she appeared to be devoted to her family, many times extolling the virtues of her husband and the accomplishments of her children plus she loved her dogs. Given all that, she was somewhat of a paradox in that she could never see K8's deficiencies as a wife and mother, her faults were so glaringly obvious. Perhaps she finally put things in perspective when she became aware of K8 abandoning Collin, something I know Milo would never do. I wish her well but I'd like to know at what point she finally saw the light.

And it didn't cost a dime.

JoyinVirginia, Thank You. Grandchildren are enjoyable sounds like you had a good time.

I can't imagine now she has much of a mess to clean up now with able-bodied 4 teenagers at home left with her twins leaving. Having had teenagers if they made the mess, it was on them to clean it I wasn't the one responsible for it. I don't remember running around for hours being the one doing all the cleaning so I can't figure out what takes this woman who has no job all day to do. Having 4 at home isn't all that different from 3. I suspect she's just heaped it on herself now out of pity perhaps.

And yes I just hope I can managed to survive said European trip. It's something you talk about for years and when time comes to do it...oh boy. You wonder.

Kate will not do pay for something her kids that she thinks she can get someone else to pay for. Prime example are vacation. Jon has been able to take Hannah and Collin on a few short ones this summer. Kate has only taken the twins on a vacation/press tour. Vacations with seven people can be expensive, but there are ways to make things work. Kate just refuses to take them because she thinks TLC should pay for them.

I'm so happy to hear about your trip! We lived in Germany for 10 years while DH was in the service, and enjoyed it immensely! 4 of my kids were born there (3 delivered by the same doctor/same hospital in Bavaria), and I'd love to go back with all of them someday for a trip now that they are older. It will have to wait a few years, however. We are now helping two nephews pay for college, in addition to some of our own kids, and it's been a lot to handle. I give my kids a lot of credit--when we had our family meetings about the nephews, they instantly agreed that we should step in to help, and there were no complaints about having to tighten the budget to make that happen. That's when I really realized what amazing human beings they have turned out to be. They were more than willing to sacrifice to help out others.

I agree with you on the housework thing--the kids always had long lists of chores that they wee responsible for doing. Mady said on Celeb Wife Swap that all she's ever known is work. They have had to work to support the family since infancy. Yet Kate keeps trying to make it look like she's sooo overworked and overburdened. The kids have provided her with a high standard of living. She should appreciate that, but she doesn't. I'm sure she sees herself as the main draw of the show, and therefore the gives herself the credit for supporting the family, but the ratings for the dating show make it clear that she is NOT the one people tune in to watch. She is completely lacking in gratitude for the gifts she has been given. It's hard to believe, but it can't be denied.

Not that she will. Sad I hope her children won't follow that same path that they can't have just a normal life that they will need to have the best like Kate. Normal can be the best folks.

Layla, we are actually headed to Germany it's on our list to stay. I am looking forward to having myself a pretzel. How ordinary, I know. My husband is looking forward to having himself some beer, I rolled my eyes. Bavaria is were we're headed to stay outside of Munich I'm much too old for city life my dear.

I do have concern when all of Kate's children grow up, much her son Collin what she'll have to answer for should he want to come home up that driveway and have a conversation with her to ask her those question like all adult children do of why you do things as a parent. Of what she'll have or not want to answer for for herself. You can write all you want in a book those letters to her kids but that's not the same as actually sitting down to talk to your kids when their adults. Advice Kate, that role when you're in charge, it does change. Oh it certainly does you are not in charge forever. My heart for when they all become adults and ask her things I wonder. Was money really worth it all to her more then just spending time with the children she wanted.

Imagine this lady with grandchildren my word.

I just saw some pictures of Katie Holmes and Suri visiting Fordham University's NYC campus. Cara is going to Fordham, but probably not the NYC campus. I think I read here that she's on a pre-med track. That's going to be expensive, especially since she and Mady are going to very pricey colleges to begin with. They may have some scholarships, but I doubt they are getting a free ride. I hope there's enough money to pay for all the kids' schooling, including graduate/medical school. They sure have earned it, but who knows whether their mother kept her hands off of their money. She'd rather they stay home and film with her, not pursue careers of their own.

Sorry, I meant the Manhattan campus. It didn't look like a major college campus--the main campus is in the Bronx, so I figured she's probably going there.

Again Katie missed out....Little Couple and the 3 sets of parents and the kids had a vacation in China to show Will where he was born. Next on the horizon. a trip back to India to show Zoey where she was born. They just bought a beautiful new home is Florida as Jen got a new job. She sure is missing out. I wonder if Skeeve was with them as a front man like he was a few years ago.

BlueJay - We were stationed in Germany and loved it. One of our three tours over there was in Augsburg which is outside of Munich. That was probably my favorite assignment. There is so much to see and do in Bavaria. Both the wine and beer are great! Dopplebock is a dark beer made at the Kloster Andechs and goes down like cream. I’ve never had a dark beer that smooth. There are many castles to visit and the Hofbräuhaus in Munich is a must see.

There is ZERO evidence to-date that the Dayton killer was politically motivated

&&&

You're delusional. Look at this twitter. He was a left wing nutjob who wanted to kill everybody and was latching onto the extreme and angry left wing rhetoric out there. That's crystal clear. Of course you're in denial about that. Typical. Nothing ever applies to your side. It's your extreme double standards that made you lose the last election and if you keep it up you're on tap to lose AGAIN.

And what about the baseball shooting of Republicans by a Bernie Sanders supporter, or did you forget? Could not one ask did Bernie Sanders, who looks constantly angry shouts all the time and acts crazy, "choice of words, phrasing, tone, had zero effect" on that shooting?

My answer actually is no. It's not Bernie's fault. Bottom line is there are mentally ill young men who latch onto whatever political rhetoric that crosses their path. I don't blame Bernie Sanders for the baseball shooting any more than I blame Obama for the incredible amount of shootings that occurred on his watch by mentally ill young men. Political rhetoric does not "cause" violence and it's disingenuous to scapegoat when you know darn well the root cause is mental illness.

White supremacy was here long before Trump, as were crazy people who picked up guns and shot into crowds. Some of the worst shootings occurred on Obama's watch. Unfortunately, he never did anything about it. The refreshing thing is we finally have a president in office who is acknowledging not just that this is a gun control issue and is very open to the current legislation going through, but it is also a mental health issue. Don't tell me it's some big coincidence that shooters are almost always males in their 20s. It just so happens that mental illness specifically schizophrenia peeks in one's 20's. We know for a FACT that most of these men are mentally ill, from Newton to Dayton, school records and other documents prove it. The only question is why didn't your schools and mental health services help this young Ohio man during the Obama years when they knew he was troubled, instead of just kicking him to the curb?? That is the true failure here.

The great irony is meaningful gun control legislation looks very promising now under Trump, something your lot could never get passed even when you were in power. Pathetic. Your lot hasn't passed a single thing since Clinton to help this problem. Now Trump will. I would have thought you'd be happy about this, as this is what you wanted I thought. It's really sick of you to use this incident to prove a point. I'm sure the families really appreciate that. Disgusting.

Is Kate's dating show officially on the rocks or is it just over for the summer? I never know. I can't imagine there would be a season two. Oh please, just spare us and say it's buried. I mean come on, her girls are going off to college why WOULD there be a season two?

How long can she really cling to TLC like this? It's past being pathetic. Come now, she's really ALL about her kids, pack it up and you know go be with your kids. They aren't teenagers forever much longer. Go enjoy those years even if their not all enjoyable on some days. They go by you know.

NJGal51, oh thank you. My husband will enjoy that yes. I'm afraid I'm not much of a drinker but he certainly will. I let him have his fun I'm not opposed to just sitting there to enjoy it.

Seems Germany is a popular place. I sent eldest daughter A abroad in the 90's, well all 3 of our kids so this is our trip now. We're going for 3 weeks so hopefully we'll manage alright through multiple countries. One big gulp I might add. We're either ready or we're just a crazy retired couple.

I know Kate's went on and on about her children being traveled what on odd way to phrase it. I wonder when she becomes old if she's going to be able to travel herself.

BlueJay (#77), TFW has made it abundantly clear she'd rather do anything without her kids than with them. For all we know, she's taken a trip or two alone (except for her "bodyguard") this summer and just never posted about it on social media.

Poor TFW. For all those years of travel on TLC's dime, she was stuck being saddled with her 8 little moneymakers. But for all we know, she may have rarely interacted with the kids on those trips except when the cameras were rolling. We found out years later just how much help she had.

ncgirl said...

I noticed on The Little Couple that the dad was sitting in the corner of the room when the kids were interviewed. Did Kate even bother staying near the kids during their interviews?

BlueJay said...

Alright, if nobody minds, someone explain to the senior lady what TFW means?

The Little Couple's premiere was 1.5 million. This family has love and humor. Jen had to have hip replacement, her 35th surgery. Kate trying to find a man to nag is trivial in comparison.

To some people TFW means “The Former Wife”...I think Jon referred to her as that in an interview.

To me she’ll always be “the f*ck wad”...it’s the Jersey girl in me coming out and that’s what she’ll always be to me after the way she’s treated the kids and most especially Collin.

I have five in high school who are the same age. Let me tell you, we would not make for good television! Well unless, an adult driving kids to various activities and friends is must see TV! Might as well film a taxi driver. It’s not 2008 anymore, Kate.

Hi BlueJay.....TFW means The Former Wife (i.e. the former wife of Jon Gosselin).....

And Jen (of Little Couple)is a physician and currently employed as a physician (as opposed to a reality show "star"). Truly impressive accomplishment. (TFW I believe stands for the former wife,a term used by Jon?)

Kate plus 8 has not been on the air since 2017. It was a short 3 episode season. That was also about the time that Hannah started say that she wanted to live with Jon. I honestly don't see it coming back now. Kate is just giving her fans false hope with the winking.

Totally OT...I went to the movies Tuesday night for a wonderful event. In celebration of Lucille Ball's birthday, different theaters across the country were showing 5 colorized episodes of "I Love Lucy!" If you've seen some of the earlier attempts, these newer ones are far superior, as the colorization technique has become more sophisticated. They also showed a documentary about how the process works, and the extensive research involved in trying to get the colors as true to the original clothing and prop items as possible. It was fascinating, and to me the episodes are still fresh and hilarious, even on the 100th viewing!

TFW=The Former Wife--Jon did an interview a few years ago where he referred to Kate as his former wife, never called her by name, so some refer to her as that instead of her name. You may also see TFMJG, which means The Former Mrs. Jon Gosselin. I can't think of any more, but we'll fill you in as we go--just let us know what you'd like clarified.

Anyone remember the picture from Mady's IG where she is wearing a denim jacket and says she's wearing her mother's hat? It's gone now, but--I just saw the same jacket and it's expensive! It's an Isabel Marant jacket and very distinctive-looking, so when I saw it I recognized it right away. $1,210. I'm speechless. I guess the bribes for filming are getting more expensive as the kids get older.

NJgal51,
We were in Augsburg, too! 1992-1994. Loved it! Before that we were in Berlin (we were there when the wall came down), and later we went back and were stationed at BA for several years. I loved all our years in Germany, but DH and the boys say Misawa was their favorite duty station.

BlueJay said...

Oh it's alright I know I'm behind the times and I can live with that.

I too have many, MANY doubts of Kate plus 8 ever coming back. She's just got to let that go and move on.

I do wonder if Discover or TLC had never come knocking, would this woman have you know been alright with that? I mean really? She just seems so utterly bitter despite claiming to have wanted these children.

So they wouldn't have had everything. My children never got everything they ever wanted, no child, no family ever does. But you know what my children grew up just fine well adjusted. Kate's would have too. And she and Jon divorced or not down the road would have managed just fine as a nurse and in IT or if he changed his mind to do whatever just fine like everyone else. She just seems to have gone out of her way to bemoan and wear that coat so darn well.

My husband and I are headed to quite a few countries. Sweden just something about it personally for me I made him want to take me it's my trip. Germany for him he can indulge in his beer and what have you and I can shop. Heck I can leave him at the beer hall and go shopping I promise to pick him up when I'm done. France, England and Ireland. We aren't a military family but I just hope we survive in one piece.

Kate too her children to Australia and New Zealand not anywhere else after that I assume. I wonder if she'll ever take her children to Europe since she seems to complain about it.

Found the acronym list! it hasn't been updated recently, and I only did minimal editing, so please make any suggestions. It's a walk down memory lane!

The Veranda = This lovely corner of the internet where our gracious Admin and her Blog Girls
and Pool Boys host a variety of conversations on all sorts of interesting topics while serving
delicious virtual beverages and snacks!

Rumspringa = the beverage of choice on the veranda. Note: there is an actual Rumspringa Brewing Company in Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania that makes craft beer. The term comes from the period when Amish youth can explore other ways of living outside their community.

Jon Gosselin = father of the 8 Gosselin children, who is still living despite what TFW says!

Couples Therapy = CT = VH1 reality show that Jon was on with then girlfriend Liz

Kate Gosselin = TFW The Former Wife (how Jon refers to her) = TCFW The Crazy Former Wife = TFMJG The Former Mrs. Jon Gosselin = Katie Irene Kreider (her maiden name) = KK Katie
Kreider = WOS Waste Of Space (how TFW referred to the Grand Canyon, we believe in recycling and it fits) = Shopping Kart (how judge Bruno Tonioli referred to TFW on DWTS after her first dance) = Bitch from Hell (also how judge Bruno Tonioli referred to TFW on DWTS after
her Papparazzi dance) = Shmoopie (just because) = sKate (because she is able to skate by on tasks on CA and others who are higher profile get fired) = FSS Freeloading Societal Sponge (thanks Auntie Ann!) (because she is a grifter who solicits free stuff because she has 8! count ‘em! 8 kids) = The Warden (watch her CWS episode if you want to know why) = “Sergeant Asshold McPlasticFace” ( how Michael K. of Dlisted.com referred to her, May, 2014)

The Orphanage = Shawshank = home of TFW and the 8! count ‘em! 8 kids, because she leaves them alone a lot plus how she treats the 8! count ‘em! 8 kids.

Steve Neild = The Boobyguard = Rat Claws = TFM The Flying Monkey = Purse Boy = roommate during CA filming according to Kenya = personal security for TFMJG

TLC = The Lying Channel

CWS = Celebrity Wife Swap, another reality show that TFW was on, along with her 20 pound rule book the 8! count ‘em! 8 kids must obey.

DWTS = Dancing With The Stars
Tony Dovolani = Saint Tony of the Ballroom, who was given the impossible task on DWTS of
teaching TFW to dance. He is a saint because he put up with TFW tantrums and laziness and did not quit and tried his best to make TFW look good, despite her lack of work ethic, her lack of rhythm, and her delusions about what it takes to learn to dance.

CA - Celebrity Apprentice, hosted by Donald Trump = DT

Leeza Gibbons = TCL = The Classy Leeza (Thanks redbird sings!) another contestant on TFW season of CA

Rep. Murt = Pennsylvania State Representative representing the 152nd legislative district in
Pennsylvania, Army veteran and educator who has successfully sponsored legislation to
improve child labor laws in Pennsylvania Specifically House Bill 1458 that passed in 2012 and
gave children in reality shows the same protections as child actors in movies in the state of Pennsylvania, limited work hours, required trust accounts for each child, and required set teachers if school is missed. [could this explain why the Gosselin children are so often taken out of state for filming?]

A Minor Consideration = child advocacy group headed by Paul Peterson, former child actor on
the Donna Reed Show.

Lavely & Singer = Laverne & Shirley, law firm that represented TFW in the past

Martin Garbus and Shawn Tuma = two respected attorneys who represented Jon Gosselin and Robert Hoffman successfully against a bogus lawsuit brought by TFW to get them to stop
criticizing her and advocating for the Gosselin children. Please see realitytvkids.com entry for
September 20, 2013 and subsequent dates for full story about dropping of the lawsuit by TFW.
The entries around this lawsuit are why I love this blog! Who would have thought that snarking
on a reality TV show would lead to an education in constitutional law and discussion about
freedom of speech and intellectual property?

McNuggets = McGiblets = so 2013, it’s a really long saga, see viaviewfiles.wordpress.com if you
want to read about Bullyville and bogus lawsuits and real judicial opinions.

K+8 has been off the air for more than 2 years, and it didn't get over a million viewers for any episode since January 2016. If TLC decides to do any more filming, they know what they'll get. Low ratings, poor reception from the public, and probably lots of headaches from Kate, who is never satisfied with what they are willing to give her. Serves them right.

Today was a glorious day--DIL had a 3D sonogram of the little guy done, and everyone tagged along to get a glimpse of him. He's beautiful! And I'm not just saying that because I'm his Nana--he is truly a beautiful baby. He rolled, stretched, smiled, stuck out his lower lip in that adorable little baby pout--as we all sat enraptured by him. Let's all raise a frosty Rumspringa on this hot, muggy day for the little miracles life has to offer!

More importantly, did all of the sextuplets get expensive wardrobes? The show was built on their blood, sweat and tears, sometimes literally.

I think it’s interesting that the two sextuplets always seemed to be the most dominant and exhibited the most natural leadership are the two who are no longer with Kate.

BlueJay said...

I wouldn't surprised if at least some of the children have learned that they can't live without "the best" and by that I mean the expensive things. Good lord no teenager needs such a jacket. Bribe or not I don't see the point in such a material need. Whatever job this young lady gets it won't be the salary of TLC that's for certain. And she may very well be up a creek without a paddle when that day comes what the world costs. No fancy hotels no free this or comped that.

I would put it past Kate that that's what she's afraid of facing.

==================
I think some of the rationale behind the expensive clothing is that Mady & Cara had to "keep up" with the wealthy kids at their school. Kate probably felt that she had to 'show' the parents, staff, and other kids that she can dress her girls as well, if not better. A pride and/or "in your face" type thing.

Layla said...

That jacket just floored me when I saw how much it cost. But Mady likes the expensive stuff--in the episode where she, Cara, and Kate went boutique shopping, she's the one who got Golden Goose high-tops. Those are $600+. The Cartier necklace she has is more than $2000. Kate will give her what she wants to get her to film, but filming won't keep up that kind of lifestyle for long. They've only done a handful of episodes in the last 3 years. There better be plenty of money saved because Mady doesn't seem like the kind of girl who will tolerate a decrease in her standard of living. She's will aware of the fact that she's worked since she was a small child, and she feels entitled to have whatever she wants. College will be even worse than high school if she wants to run with the rich kids. Not just clothes, but a car, spring break trips, ski trips, lots of eating out and Starbucks. She'll be in New York--just wait until she discovers the Surf Lodge in Montauk (a favorite with the well-heeled college set in NY and New England area). I hope you're ready for this, Kate!

I'm ecstatic about the little guy. He has his mom's mouth and his dad's nose, and chubby cheeks. We'll have to wait to see more. Dark hair like his mom, or blond like his dad? Brown eyes like his mom, or green like his dad? I can't wait to see!

I'm guessing Kate will pop in soon on social media to complain about how HARD it's been for her to be sending 2 -- TWO! -- teenagers off to college. But her sob story always omits the fact that the girls have a living father who would have been not only willing but HAPPY to be a part of his daughter's big transition.

She's counted on her years-long narrative that Jon is a lazy, toxic, skirt-chasing manchild to help build herself up in the public eye. But now that he rescued his son, and his daughter chose to live with him, and even People magazine has decided to present him in a positive light, that won't fly anymore. And as I said recently, she's too lazy to even try to re-invent herself anymore. The next few years should be quite interesting at Ms. Gosselin's Home for Exploited Children. The next logical show title might be "Four Tups and Counting (Down)."

Layla said...

There were TAP accounts opened for all the kids, but they were not funded. People could send in money to their funds, but who knows how much was actually donated? I'd like to know what happens to that money if the kids don't use it. For example, if Mady and Cara never go to college in PA, can the younger kids use their money? Or can M or C withdraw that money and keep it for themselves?

Formerly Duped (114)
I live in an affluent area, so you see a lot of top-of-the-line labels around here. You won't catch me in something like that--I have kids to put through college! My priorities are different from some of my neighbors', and I'm okay with that.

M, I count myself lucky to have had kids at all. Posters here know I had a baby girl who died, and there was a possibility that DH and I would never be able to have a child. We turned to adoption, which worked for us--but then we ended up being able to have kids naturally too, so we've been doubly blessed. I never lose sight of the fact that I could have ended up with no kids at all, and I cherish the chaos and the noise and the laughter and the messes even more.

Admin, I love my Fit too. It's a great affordable car. I have lots of space for my dog Winston and my camping gear.

I don't think all the kids in Kate's house get expensive things. I remember the last three episodes of Kaye plus 8. The girls all had newer IPads but the boys did not seem to have any electronic devices. I also remember earlier school pictures. The boys clothing always seemed to be at least one size too big. I hope the boys at some point reconnect with Jon. They deserve a parent who loves them unconditionally.

If M is indeed going to Syracuse, move in day in Aug 20-22. The 4 tups start HS on the 21st, while move in day at Fordham is on the 25th. Poor Katie must be so stressed as she figures this out all alone. Where are the cameras when you need them? But Its possible that TLC might film 2 episodes based solely on the school prep and the oh so stressed Katie dealing with 6 kids starting different school within a 6 day period. Okay, I’ll give her that one. Kids starting school in three different cities over the span of a week will be challenging!

I think the Gosselin situation has an especially profound impact on those of us who had difficult roads to parenthood. For us, it was over 6 years of trying and fertility treatments before we brought our babies into the world and later added a true miracle baby over a decade later.

I never quite understood Kate’s precipitous timeline. It’s unlike the treatment protocols in my area, even in the early 2000s. I started following the Gosselins’ because of the similarities in our families, but it quickly became apparent that our approaches were night-and day different. We went on a trip to PA around the height of the J&K fame. Let me tell you! Our trips to Crayola and the Please Touch Experience looked nothing like theirs! We actually all had fun!

Well, wait a minute. I thought Ms. Plans it all out, sticky notes everywhere, I'm a planner all my life would you know be on top of this one with her kids being off to different schools.

It's not like this hasn't per say happened to other parents who had multiples before with other children as well. It's not like Kate is the ONLY mother or parent of multiples with other children to EVER existed in the ENTIRE world! Though she certainly seems to have and still be playing that fiddle...

One of my adult children just up and dropped a bombshell on me decided she wants to go back to school to become a lawyer. I wasn't prepared for this one. So...ok. Alright. I mean she's an adult she's already graduated with her undergraduate a few years ago had a job for a while. So here we go. I wasn't prepared for her to say she was thinking Syracuse. We live nowhere near there! I had to actually look it up they even HAVE a law school that's how much I know. I live under a rock...ok so my kid is going to freeze.

But I wish Kate would just get over her high self she'll indeed figure it out how to get all her kids where they need to be. Here's a hint dear, your twins are also young adults...who, my gosh, can HELP.

Oh how embarrassing. not my daughter I meant one of my actual kids I meant my eldest grandchildren. She just graduated recently. All my kids are in their late 30's to early 40's.

My granddaughter just graduated and is 19 she wants to become a lawyer. Out of state college is expensive and I know it.

Poor Katie...the episode of the Little Couple is about their trip to Scotland. Even though Dr. Jen is at a conference. His mom and stepdad are there also. China, and soon to India. All Katie got was Australia all those years ago and New Zealand to see Skeeve's parents. TLC is paying for a lot of this.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

foxy (#126), yeah, TLC didn't exactly break the bank with the budget for Katie Irene's latest crapfest. It must grind her gears to see the "posh" trips being lavished upon these other families.

Nope!

Kate really is not organised if she can't see how simple getting the kids off to school. Mady goes to school about 4 hours from home....take her in the morning, move her into her dorm room, situate things that need to be done right away, go to Walmart or wherever and get her snacks or things for her room, go to a late lunch/early dinner, bring her back to the dorm. Go home and get ready for the 4 younger ones to get on the bus in the morning. Next Cara, about 3 hours from home...move her into the dorm. No problem. I have done it myself, with 4 kids going to different schools. Easy peasy. And of course, the body guard Skeeve will drive.

There is soooo much to do when you move in and so many people to meet and activities bustling around you.... it's really best for parents to mosey along as soon as things are situated. The kid needs space to breathe and take it all in and start experiencing the best years of their lives without mommy.

I think her "problem" is, Mady is supposed to move in on the 20th and the 4 tups still at home start school the following day. For an organized person, this should not be an insurmountable problem. But we're talking about K8 here, ostensibly a paragon of organization who is, in fact, a fraud in this dimension as well as so many others. Cara moves in the weekend of the 24th. IF Kate actually had any friends/relatives in her very limited orbit, she might be able to get her 4 teens a ride to/from the bus stop (yes, that is ALL that is required of her) the day after Mady moves in to Syracuse. But lacking any of that, well, it'll be hand-wringing and whinging until the cows come home.

I do wonder what she's been up to in the 5 weeks or so since her show ended. She actually had a modicum of solid attention on IG at that point which might have been built on. But the only thing on her IG since then is the soggy salmon and the sour taste of her supposed "betrayal."

TLC is doing a lot of clip shows lately--usually at 8pm there is a show of clips from last week's episode, used as a lead-in to their more popular shows. Seriously cheap to produce, I'm sure, and ALL of them get higher ratings than anything the Gosselins have done in the past several years. Why bother putting the money and effort into filming a show that's not going to do well when you can re-package last week's episode of another show and it'll do much better? This is something fairly new for TLC, and even though the ratings aren't through the roof--they're still better than anything with Kate in it.

College move-ins are in full swing (where did the summer go? And why is there an echo in my house?), and our college athletes are allowed to move in a little early to get situated and ready to start the new year and new sports seasons. Get the stuff moved in and put away, build a "wall o'snacks" out of the truckload of Costco goodies you bought, grab some lunch--and then the kids' friends come looking for them and the parents slink off and disappear. You want to cling (like in that commercial for the Command wall strips where the parents won't let go of their kid) but then you'd be an embarrassment, so you give them a quick hug and run because that's what they want you to do. At least, that's what DH and I do, but for Kate it will be different because it's not about the kids, its about her. She'll be all weepy and dramatic, want to hang out and stay forever (no matter how many times M&C tell her to leave), and in general make them wish she wasn't around. If she has her way about it, there will be a camera crew there and she can mug and make faces and turn it into a huge embarrassing debacle. Not that anyone will watch, of course, but she'll still do it.

Layla 133...I think the only kid that will approve of being filmed on move-in day would be Mady. She is like her mom all the way always was and always will be. Cara is more private and the younger ones are just an after thought. I did Maine, upper New York, New Hampshire and Virginia. My husband and I and the one kid would do the trip. Then on to the next one until they were all at school. All this within 5 days. Freshmen move in and it seems there were always upper classmen that helped everybody move their belongings in. There were also a few huge laundry carts you could borrow to help if you were lucky to get one. As you know it runs very smoothly. Just focus on your task, help a little, get the extras, have a quick lunch and go home. Move out is the same thing. No big deal.

Good grief, I hope you didn't have to do that many schools at the same time! This year we have our largest number of college kids at one time--3--all going to the same school, so it's one big haul. Too easy! Kate has always made such a big deal out of the stress of getting all her kids off to school, but she had it so easy. Imagine if she had to load up a bunch of kids and drop a couple off at the high school, some more a the middle school, and then some at the elementary school while dealing with a tight drop-off schedule and a cranky, sleepy toddler (we'll call him "Surprise!"). No, she loaded everyone up and dropped them off at the same place and went home to a quiet house and then posted about how hhaaarrrddd it all was. Then went back to bed for a nap instead of trying to cheer up the still-cranky toddler who wants candy for breakfast and thinks it's fun to pick the cat up by the tail and then has a meltdown when the cat reacts the way cats do. (Yeah, been there!). Please forgive me for having zero pity for her.

Lyla..for 3 years it was 3 schools and then the 4th year was added the 4th school. Then one graduated, it was 3 schools, then the 2nd graduated it was 2 schools. When they were all graduated come the end of August we didn't know what to do with ourselves. The kids are all 12 and 14 months apart in age. That was cool to deal with also. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Wow, that's a lot to juggle! And having that many kids so close together--I can't imagine. The days are crazy when there are so many to take care of, but then we miss those days so much when they come to an end. I'm dreading the day that all of mine are gone, either on their own or off at college. The house seems too empty already, even though the grown kids live nearby and the college kids are a short drive away. This is a tough year because "Surprise!" (I won't say his real name, but Orlando Bloom, if you read here--I thought of it first!) is going to be in middle school, and he's my baby. I remember when I first posted here in 2011, I mentioned driving with him in the car and he was 3 and loved to sing along to his favorite CD at the top of his lungs. And now he's this big kid. Ouch.

I don't understand Kate's stress. It's nice to have parents there to help you move into your dorm but it's not necessary. I went to school out of state. It was one of the few situations where it cost less to go out of state (New Mexico) than in state (Oregon). It was thousands of dollars less based on tuition and cost of living. My dad (single parent) could not afford to fly down and help me move in. I did it by my self. Many college students do. Their family want to be there but can't afford to. This is just another example where Kate should be happy to have the privilege to be able actively involved in her college age kids experience.

I learned one important e thing from that experience. You can find community where ever you go. Your friends can also become part of your family. Two lessons that I will never forget.

Personally I think she sort of, you know, "feeds," off being stressed out in some odd explainable way. Like she enjoys it in someway. She says she doesn't but obviously she does. Otherwise she wouldn't go out of her way to make being pretend organized or put up so many lists or freak out and have these massive meltdowns for no reason. It's like when someone puts on a play. She likes doing it. You know like the child in the store in someway. The play up on purpose because it gets them more attention in the hopes if you're the parent embarrassed you'll just give in because they know that you know everyone is already staring at you anyway. So I gather she knows everyone is already watching her "oh my lord I just can't imagine what I'm going to do I can't possibly get ALL of this done by my poor little old self it's TOO MUCH." While everyone stands there with their mouth open looking at her on camera.

Is it my imagination or have all of her children been sort of, well, perhaps sadly trained by this bit to pity their own mother with so much to do constantly?

Moving children into a dorm or for school I mean really they are adults and older it's not like back in the day when she had crying babies or toddlers in tow at the same time. I don't think she's going to be so helpless so I hope it's not as if she's going to be able to spin that show. And her single parent act realy is getting old.

Everything is stressful for Kate....except of course, sending her son away for years and never seeing him. That was no biggie for her. She only likes being a mother when it benefits her and SHE can find a way to be the center of attention. When she whines and and fake cries about having to send her babies off to college, we need to remind her what a cold hearted bitch she was when she sent her 11 year old son away to live by himself with strangers. Every vacation he missed and every birthday he missed, became "the best ever." She went on with her life as if her own son never existed. She goes on with her life as if her own parents, brother and sisters never existed. She goes on with her life as if friends and people who helped her never existed. I'm pretty sure she will get over the twins leaving like she did all the rest. Kate only cares for one person on this earth, and that is herself.

I often get the sense he likes the attention of it. Like poor you you're so stressed? Wow it must be so hard for you! You don't have it like anyone else!

It's just a talking point for her to get attention.

Does anyone know if Kate's parental rights to Collin have been terminated? She abandoned this child like it was no big deal. He was responding to comments on his Instagram and someone asked if he ever sees Kate. His reply was simply "no." I knew Kate was a horrible mother but to actually see him say it is really heartbreaking. I doubt he wants anything to do with her at this point and I don't blame him. But for her to pretend her child no longer exists just blows my mind. Something is seriously wrong with that woman. She desperately needs help.

Giff (#143), yes, it's almost unfathomable to think of the cruelty that boy has endured from his own mother. As well as C seems to be doing emotionally, I'm hoping he remains in some sort of counseling for many years to come. As he continues through puberty and then young adulthood, he will process his abuse and trauma in ways Jon and Colleen may not be able to help him with. And H will have to come to terms with leaving her mother and siblings at such a young age.

Although the drama is far from over for C and H, they've both already shown strength and courage beyond their years.

Kate skipped Collins the custody hearing last winter. Her lawyer didn't even show up. So, Jon got full temporarily custody by default. It takes a lot to actually terminate parental rights. I think Kate has just chosen to cut Collin out of her life. She is such a b!@ch.

BlueJay said...

Temporary custody only? I am going to assume then that there is still full parental custody involved and such? Whether or not that will ever be removed? Also I assume she still has full custody of her daughter Hannah?

Aren't these children old enough in some respect to tell a judge on their own that they want to simply live with their father full time and a judge removes parent custody? But this shows how much I know how things work, none. But I wouldn't know about these things let along in another state.

But, if the boy's OWN father stated publicly that he does not have a "special need" wouldn't that have had to have been brought up in court when he was given or granted custody of his son? Wouldn't that have been blown out of the water any and all of Kate's own statements of why she sent her young son away to begin with? I also assume her son is now also old enough himself to state for the judge that he himself, no I do not have a special need? I mean the boy seems brightly capable of his own accord to state for himself when or if this comes to full custody to him and his father both to state that Kate's own excuse will and should totally backfire on her at some point?

Seems more likely though I truly don't know such things she just couldn't or didn't like to do deal with such a strong willed child.

Aw....let the screaming, shrieking, and tantrums start. This is countdown to to the 20th and she begins early with her dramatic melt downs. I wonder if they will shut down Target so she can shop without a riot happening. I never understood that.

They did so many back to school episodes, one where Hannah had a migraine, one where Joel had back pain and nausea, one where Alexis was scolded for wanting a lizard backpack. We were shown the order the kids had to eat their packed lunch, and TFW narrating her rising at 5 a.m to make it all happen. It was crazy that she wrote for Kendra on the CWS episode that they kids came down for breakfast at 5:03 a.m. I guess those days are gone and 4 teenagers now straggle down to make their own breakfast and pack a lunch, no film crew. TFW is not an overworked but organized mom to admire and also feel sorry for.

I remember a Dilley special that showed a school day routine and it was all happy and everyone helping, organized but not strict- they could chose their snacks and sandwich fillings and enjoy a family breakfast.
