Recap: Kate Plus 8 "A Haunting at the Gosselins": life hacks, Pinterest fails, and no babysitters or assistants to be found

Counting On gets an "after show"? Ha, what a rip-off of Breaking Bad's brilliant after show.

Coming up on Kate Plus 8. If they just don't show all seven kids in the same frame, no one will notice Colin is gone. The boys are still the best, laid back and handsomer by the day, and the girls are still whiners and way too prissy for me.

This coming up is basically a Cliff Notes version of all three of the episodes in the mini-season airing over the next few weeks. A kid gets hurt skiing, Kate makes Vermont all about her by freaking out, a couple parties get thrown while Kate loses her mind. There, you've seen the mini-season.

Kate says typically (grr, that word is annoying) she gets the kids costumes and then she takes them trick-or-treating. A mother was taking kids who are 12, 15 years old out trick-or-treating? I'm sure they're the coolest kids on the block.

This year production decided to do a party instead of trick-or-treating. Um, your kids are teenagers. They should have stopped trick-or-treating a few years ago and let the little ones enjoy this holiday in peace.

I find Kate's explanation as to why they got rid of the chickens to be surprisingly credible. They were a lot of work, came with a lot of problems, like rats in the barn in the winter months, the return on eggs wasn't all that great, and so she decided her farming days are over. You might wonder why she's complaining about the work when she has the kids to do it, but I have a funny feeling most if not all of these kids weren't really putting in the time it required to take good care of them, and since Kate is terrible at getting her own children to do what she tells them to, things fell into disarray. Plus with Collin away, the one who loved the chickens the most, she was really up a creek. I just hope they didn't get rid of the flock by eating a whole hell of a lot of chicken soup last winter.

At the end of the day I find the abandoned chicken coops rather sad, even pathetic, and very indicative of today's rather blasé culture. Here was a worthwhile, wholesome endeavor that they took on, devoted so much time and effort to, yet now when the going gets tough, they quit. Surely there was some other alternative, like downsizing to maybe five or six hens instead of a fuckety-billion. Quitting this is not the best example to be setting for the kids, but such is Kate.

Anyhow, most things worth having are a hell of a lot of work. From children, to a house, to chickens. Most normal people find the tradeoff to be rewarding. The eggs taste better, truly. She doesn't get it, and it's sad.

The barn's disgusting, full of feces and other unsanitary matter. Kate blames this on the barn being old. I blame this on not taking pride in your home or making an effort to keep up with the cleaning and upkeep. You can't clean out a barn once every ten years, it's like going into a war zone after that long. With Kate it's like trying to teach a 12-year-old some basic life strategies. One of them being if you don't let things go for ten freaking years, the job will be a lot easier. Clean out the barn every spring, and they wouldn't be in this terrible bind.

Ew, the cameras catch a live rat diving between the floor boards! Right out there in the open! This is not funny, it's unsanitary and dangerous.

They find a dead chicken and Kate freaks out. This is getting to be like one of those horrific episodes of Hoarders, where they're uncovering rodents and dead carcasses and it's that moment where you realize so Butters didn't really "run away" like mom claimed. Eventually there is some dispute if this mass really is a chicken; the kids finally prove it's just a massive pile of poo not a dead body. Either way, flipping horrible. Little hint, if you ever can't get in the mood to tidy up, turn on Hoarders and you'll be scrubbing the floors in no time.

Jamie the lackey is here! Woot! Ha, Jamie immediately pegs the barn as gross and disgusting. Yep.

A bunch of flashbacks about Jamie. Kate says they have their fights from time to time. Because I guess they are 12. Hey Kate, not every adult friendship results in knock down drag outs.

The barn is actually pretty conducive to a really cool haunted house, with all the cobwebs and stalls. Jamie and Kate tour the barn as if they're going to actually do the work themselves, but Kate lets slip that the crew is mostly going to set up this haunted house. Well, at least she admits it.

A lot of comments were made during this episode about the long commercials. We're on our first set, and for me they began at 13:30 on my DVR clock. The running of the bulls commercial with bulldogs is inspired. Nice one, Geico. We return at 19:30, a whopping six minutes later. It's like the old days of MTV where the commercials went on for ages! Remember that?

Kate had "scheduled" Jamie and her two girls to come out for the haunted house. Scheduled? Like you might schedule the termite inspector? She so frequently lets slip such impersonal and detached phrasing, and her true self comes out.

Jamie's from Michigan. Halloween was on a Monday last year. Did the girls miss school for this? That doesn't seem very responsible of the adults.

Kate is teaching Jamie the wonderful life hack of stacking up a bunch of bread and then cutting off the crusts all at once. Amaze.  Heh, I like Jamie's slightly snarky response to Kate's patronizing tip, "okay, okay, you're like Cake Boss."

Why not get this catered? a producer asked. He must be mocking her. Because of course Kate would have it catered if TLC would pay for it. Kate rambles on for a couple minutes about why, giving every excuse under the sun why, but let's be honest, mostly it has to do with because TLC won't pay for it and it's a good opportunity for her to mug for the cameras anyway.

There has to be some kind of messed up psychology behind Kate saying that food is how she shows her love to her family. I can see a psychologist saying that people who use tangible things as the primary way to express their love are either insecure about showing love and/or are hiding behind the tangible because they are unable to express love in other more genuine ways. Not that making up a big bowl of chicken soup for your sick honey isn't love, it's just, if it's the only way you are able to express your feelings, something might be wrong with you.

Wow, Jamie's girls have really grown up, and they're both very pretty, though seem to be quite camera shy and tongue tied, as I would expect from many teens. Kate claims they were off school. At the end of October, with a Thanksgiving holiday coming up in three weeks? That would be unusual, but without knowing their school I can't say it's a lie. Maybe the school is really into celebrating Halloween, who knows.

They'll be up all night prepping for the party, Kate says. Sounds like pretty poor planning to me. I'm not going to feel sorry for you because you didn't budget your time.

Hm, the bloody fingers they're making out of bread and jam look nothing like the Pinterest photo they're trying to model them after. Pinterest fail.

There's a hilarious web site that collects Pinterest fails called "Pinterest fail: where good intentions come to die." Heh. A lot of the people who comment are actually rather supportive of one's humble efforts, and the people who post their fails are usually self-deprecating, which I think is such a great trait. I love blogs that have nice commentors! Check it out.

The kids eventually get home and start helping with making cupcakes. Mady wanders in to harass the kids, and later makes fun of them on the couch. You know what I think is obnoxious, when the only thing you can come up with to make fun of someone is based solely on their developmental age. That's Mady. Like, if they were infants Mady would be making fun of them because they're not walking, and if they were three they'd be made fun of because they can't ride a bike. They're infants. And three! Sheesh.

Cara is not even making eye contact with the camera in this episode. She looks pissed about something. I guess the bribe didn't materialize this time.

Leah is just one loud shrill. It is really sad her mother has allowed this method of communication to happen.

Oh, nice, Hannah lets loose a major failing on Kate's part. Apparently Hannah had her costume planned two weeks ago, well in advance of Halloween, like a responsible person. Unlike her mother. She picked it out on the internet and sent Kate the link to order it. Kate said she would get it for her. But, according to Hannah, Kate never even opened the link and the costume wasn't ordered. And there's where Kate really sucks as a parent. I'm not saying she has to buy whatever Hannah orders her to, but don't tell the child you will get it, then not even open the link. That's messed up! Hannah will be telling this story again on the therapist's couch in ten or so years. Heh.

There's Kate in the pigsty of their dining room, crap everywhere, making a present costume for one of the girls. I predict this will be another Pinterest fail. This segment goes on forever. Oh, there's a crated dog when the entire family plus three minus one is HOME. God, she's the worst.

Commercials are starting again, at 28:20. These ones were shorter, we're back at 31:20.

They're embarking on what looks like a day long costume project. There's sequins everywhere.

More dogs trapped in crates with everybody around. I don't object to crate training, but it should not be used all the time and it's rare they should be used when the household is home. Kate is whining about how stressed she is, almost to the point of tears. But everything she is stressed about was completely preventable. The untidy house she still needs to clean, the unfinished costumes, the decorations not yet out. Why on earth didn't she start all of this earlier? It was obvious with all this work they weren't going to finish in time starting only a day or two beforehand. Kate claims this is so not her. Wrong, it's exactly her.

She loved this party, and now she hates it, she shouts. Well, that's not a nice thing for children to hear when they're looking forward to having friends over. Now they're burdened with feeling like this is unpleasant for their mother, and that doesn't feel good to a child.

Kate says now this won't be fun. It appears even an off camera producer is trying to get her out of her funk, promising her it will be fun.

Oh, she's reverted to her same old same old crap that people aren't helping her. Bull and shit. It's all on camera almost every single one of these kids chipping in and helping out, not to mention Jamie and her children, who appear to be working so hard they don't even have time to speak. It is so obnoxious and frankly, mean, for her to make comments like that that just aren't true.

Kate is having a meltdown worthy of the most mentally ill. Even Jamie has to go comfort her. I can only shake my head. Not only is this reaction not normal, but it's terrible that kids have to bear her emotional burdens. Jamie, bless her heart, appears to be acting as a buffer to the kids. She smiles at them, tries to make light of it, but makes sure the kids do not go near Kate at the moment. Jamie is a sycophant, no question about it, but there are moments here and there where I really, really like how she conducts herself, such as right now. I firmly believe she is very intentional in her protection of the children from this meltdown. This is not by accident.

Wow, Kate is still going on about her messy house. She had weeks to clean it beforehand, so that's just her fault. And, a little something about that messy house. It's cluttered messy. Not dirty messy. The floors, sinks and counters are clean. That is a dead giveaway that she does have a housekeeper, a normal housekeeper who cleans, but does not "tidy up." From my limited experience with housekeepers, you, the homeowner, are responsible for tidying up the clutter before they come over, and if you don't, they just clean around it. They don't presume to put things away or they could be there hours beyond what they anticipated and would want to charge you a lot more. A housekeeper who actually tidies usually comes in daily or at least several times a week, and you have to pay them boatloads more.

Mady remarks that even when the kids do help out, it doesn't seem to help with the stress, and Kate makes her own stress anyway, so what's the point. Yes, Mady, correct. The truth is your mother is mentally ill. Mady at the age of 16 is able to describe what is mental illness, but is just not quite there with identifying it by name.

They kill some time with old clips of Kate melting down.

What's really, really unbelievable is that Kate declares boldly that these types of parties will always be stressful and that will never change. Not only is it sad that she thinks it won't change, but it's so easy to change one wonders why she is so against it (i.e., starting to plan earlier.)

Kate says this is too much to do with one person. Bitch, you are not one person! You have seven kids to help who are helping, plus two more and Jamie, who might I remind her flew out there to help, plus all the time in the world, as you don't work. It's no one's fault but her own she didn't leave herself enough time to reasonably put together a party of this magnitude. Her kids are kids, they don't know yet about proper time management, plus they're in school all day and can't be bothered to plan this. They have jobs: school. This is not on them to figure out, not when they have their own obligations to do. For all her crap about all she learned in last year's Kate's Advice episode, she actually has learned nothing. She did the same exact thing years ago on the RV trip, claimed that she had to do everything on her own. It's very rude and ungrateful when it's untrue.

I remember reading once, I forgot where, about a mom who was raised in a "late" family. Always running five, ten, or more minutes behind. Even as a child she felt the stress of it, the constant scrambling to get anywhere or do anything, and she vowed when she grew up if she had a family of her own, she would not put them through that. That she would make special effort to give herself double, maybe even triple the time, and avoid the constant discomfort she grew up with. She had her family, and although she can't say they are never late, they are not "that late family," and she finds her house much more peaceful for it. That's how I see Kate. She's created constant discomfort in the household because of her poor planning, and if she thinks it won't affect these kids, she is mistaken.

She has no babysitter or assistant. Well I don't know why you would have a babysitter when your kids are all teenagers. The babysitter could end up younger than her clients. Ironically when Kate makes this statement, she is outside with Jamie, nowhere near the house, and the kids are nowhere to be found. Who is watching them while you bitch about having no one to watch them? Lol.

As for having no assistant, well that explains it. Nobody is wiping her ass anymore like the good ole days, so the little pieces of poo that are constantly stuck there are putting her in a bad mood. Makes sense now.

I would say I cannot believe the things that come out of Kate's mouth nor that she is serious, but at this point, I'm starting to believe it.

I enjoy the happy pink Outdaughtered countdown clock in the corner. Bet Kate hates that something like that is taking up any real estate on her show.

Heh, when Jamie is pushed enough she starts ragging on Kate, and there she blows, mocking Kate saying she will probably have a meltdown over Jamie putting the tablecloth on the wrong table. Heh.

Mady says Jamie is the opposite of Mother. Oh boy do I love when Mady pulls out the Psycho on us.

Guests start to arrive already. Kate doesn't understand why guests are here early. They're just not late people like her, that's why. They like to arrive at things on time or early. I bet some of them might be school friends and live more than an hour away, so they probably gave themselves extra time for traffic or other snags. In short, they sound like responsible people who are trying not to be rude to their hosts and waltz in hours late.

The food was questionable, Mady remarks. Taking a look at it, yeah, I get that. It's mostly Pinterest fails. The guac vomit coming out of the pumpkin mouth is an odd shade of green, and the hummus puke coming out of another pumpkin's mouth is kind of messy, with residue stuck to the pumpkin's upper lip. Simply wipe off the excess will ya?

This is kind of a stilted party. People are just standing or sitting around. Where is the music? The games?

Commercial again, starting at 39:10 and going to a whopping 44:10. Yipe! I like the theory that shows like Kate's have to capture more commercials because of all the advertisers who pulled out of the Duggars. Way to take one for the team!

The Outdaughtered promo has pretty high production values. It almost looks like a commercial for Tide, with all the spaghetti and other messes flying everywhere, only without the clean-up portion of it. Real people wrote the music, not just the interns. They show all the girls on the potty. Gross. In any case, the budget allocations TLC is making is glaring, with promotional materials for shows like Outdaughtered clearly getting the bulk of it.

We're back, and the party finally seems a little more lively, with some of the kids throwing around a football with their friends. Mady makes a comment that not all parties are for the little kids finally. She is turning out to be as ungrateful as Kate. She's had tons of activities and parties for her and her friends. She is not usually left in the dust.

The haunted house, put together by production, is not bad. It's a lot of spider webs and things hanging from the wall, a graveyard, and a few live action people in costume. I like the hospital room with a dead body on the table. A real rat appears, not part of the script. Again, not funny. Dangerous and unsanitary. The real rat turns out to be the creepiest thing about this all.

Cara finally speaks and says the haunted house wasn't scary. See, this is where these kids have been taught nothing about manners. I know Cara is just telling the truth, and that the twins are maybe pushing a little too old for "haunted houses," but production, people Cara knows and spends a lot of time with, put a lot of time and effort into this. To just deadpan directly back to them it wasn't scary at all, is mean. Basically she's telling them despite all their well-meaning efforts, it was a fail. These twins are well old enough to understand that sometimes you just tell people it was great, and thank them, even if you thought it was lame. White lies don't hurt anything.

This party looks fun now. Eat a donut on a string. I'm pleased to see plenty of boys there, for Aaden and Joel. They seem to rarely be allowed friends of their own around. Also makes it easier not to notice Collin is missing with all kinds of smelly boys running around. What I find kind of sick is that earlier in this episode Kate was bragging about the Lego costume she made for Collin one year. Yet there is no explanation of where Collin is or when he is coming back. Some nerve. A casual viewer of this show, if they notice he is even gone, would be so confused.

Everyone seems to be really enjoying themselves. I wonder why Jamie's son Clay didn't fly out though. Maybe he's still pissed at how unfairly he was treated by Kate and the kids on the RV trip, getting blamed for everything. He should be mad.

Of note, Cara and Mady seem to mostly be paling around with Marley and some other school friends. I don't see them hanging out with Jamie's daughters much. Wonder what that dynamic is about. It's just kind of funny, because Kate claims Jamie's daughters might as well be her own, yet her own kids don't even seem to hang out with them.

The final round of commercials start at 50:50, and end at 56:40. Wow.

Proof that Kate didn't help with any of this, she goes through the haunted house as if she has no clue what she will see in there. If she helped to put this together, she would know what is coming around the corner and shouldn't be so terrified.

Afterward, they gather around on hay bales around an awesome campfire. What? This is beautiful. They have lovely stringing lights hanging up, and a huge area to run around near the fire. Why don't we see them doing normal stuff like this more? Why are so many of Kate's instagram posts them gathered around the television set, instead of this lovely fire pit? They were lucky to get such a mild night in October, assuming this was really October. Some of the kids aren't even wearing jackets.

The kids really enjoyed the party. The twins are unreasonably vile toward their younger siblings. Cara's favorite part was the fire after all the "dumb" little kids left. Why is that comment necessary? There's healthy sibling rivalry, and then there's cruelty, and I have no idea why Kate has allowed these twins to be so darn cruel. One day, Cara, your siblings will be all you have. And sometimes, when siblings are so tortured in childhood, it makes it hard for the victims to move on from it.

You guessed it, it was all worth it in the end. They made memories. Yes, Kate, they certainly did. And please make no mistake, while they may have memories of a cool haunted house, they also made a memory of yet another mental health episode on the part of their mother that nearly ruined the whole thing.

This is disgusting. The moment that Kate had the idea to throw a Halloween event in her barn the FIRST call should have been to a professional industrial cleaning company and the second to pest control.
It takes awhile to get rid of and in control of pests, especially rodents. You need bait and traps and the whole place scoped out and assessed for reasons why rodents are there and opportunities they have to get in.
No way, no how would I invite children into that barn that's been filled with chicken feces for years.

She's insane.

How can you let animal living quarters get this filthy?
I always questioned if Kate even bothered to attempt properly taking care of her chickens.
There's no way you are taking care of animals and giving them proper living quarters if there's mounds of shit everywhere.

Jamie was great on the RV trip. Amazing.
I'd insist on being in the "cool" RV with Jamie.

I bet Jamie is exhausted when she leaves Kate's house.

Excellent recap, Admin. Re Jamie's kids and school, my guess is this didn't actually happen on Halloween. Could've been Columbus Day weekend, or even Labor Day. We'll never know. Re Cara, Mady, and "attitude," I think these girls get away with whatever they want because they don't see daddy. To Kate, that's worth any amount of nastiness from them.

And it sounds like Kate was back to her former complaining self with respect to production, which I believe played a big role in her being canned back in 2011 when the RV trip went sour. She just can't help herself, all of the problems are ALWAYS someone else's fault. It'll be great to see the back of this biatch, once and for all.

What's very sad for the kids is that Kate is either unable, or unwilling, to recognize how her constant freak outs and meltdowns affect her kids.
All of them.
Each undertaking must reach maximum tension and build up pressure until Kate breaks down, whether that includes yelling, or crying, or tantrums.
I can't imagine living in a house like that.

I also HATE being late.

I hope that if she decides to have the barn cleaned now that they're very, very careful with whatever bait is put out for the rats because it will kill the dogs if they get into it.

Admin - I'm surprised that you didn't mention anything about the room with the final photo shoot (or whatever they called it). It had a bunch of skeletons sitting for a picture and TFW mentioned that at least she was still skinny. She also mentioned being skinny in another part of the show. This sends a bad message, not only to her girls, but also to and teens watching.

Bait gets put into boxes which rats get into, so it's not exposed for dogs to eat.
The rodents eat the bait then die off somewhere else.
Just the rodent feces carries diseases.

Yuck.

It takes a lot of nerve for her to complain about how this is too much for one person to do, when she has 10 other people (7 kids, Jamie, and Jamie's two girls) all helping her. More proof that her "I do it all myself" cry is BS. As long as she has to do any work at all, she'll complain and whine and claim she did it all.

Her barn is a sty, her house is a mess, and all she does is complain that someone else doesn't do the cleaning for her. OCD, my foot! If she really had OCD, she wouldn't be able to live with the clutter and the mess and the chicken poop and the rats. But she does, because her laziness and sense of entitlement outweigh any need or desire to get up and clean it up (or pay someone else to do it). Maybe cleaning up after her and the kids is another one of those things that society owes her.

I watched an Outdaughtered clip on the TLC Facebook page, and in the short clip the parents keep complaining about Danielle being alone with the babies all day, and about the kids being cooped up in a confined space all day. They are right on schedule to follow in the G's footsteps. Adam will quit his job and they will move to a massive house with acreage (and claim that the move was for the kids). That will, of course, leave them totally dependent upon TLC to make sure they can pay the bills. They will be at TLC's mercy. It's funny how the timeline is the same. They are in their third season and planting the seeds. Season 4 (just like with the Gs) we will see Adam quit and the big move. Wait for it.

&&&&&&&&&&&

I didn't watch, but if the barn is as filthy as reported, she really needs to be careful of mice droppings, and I guarantee that barns have mice. An Amish friend down the road was sweeping up some droppings and inhaled the particles and got deathly sick from it.Turns out it was hantavirus. In fact, it can be fatal. As a nurse she should know that and those kids need to stay out of the barn.

Exactly. You really need a professional company to come in and clean that shit out.
Then, work on pest control for at least a month or two before you decide to invite a bunch of people to traipse around in there.

So, Kate looks at her skeletal self and is pleased?

wtf?

My husband was notoriously late for everything...never late for work though. If we had a wedding or another function of event to attend I always said we had to be there an hour earlier than the actual time. If the event would be at 5 pm I would say we need to be there at 4 pm so we would be there at 5 pm It worked beautifully and he never was the wiser. I HATE being late.

Tomcat sells a type that is a green bar that you just toss around. That's the type that I'm talking about and that I'd be worried about because if that type is used the dogs could get it very easily.

Thanks for the recap. If Cara can't say anything nice, maybe she should stay quiet.

From the previous thread:

"When did TLC put the camera in Josh's face to say this? It was my understanding that Josh would not appear in the Counting On show."

He and his family did a video congratulating his sister on a new baby. The article said he was in a Mother's Day video online. Maybe TLC thinks they can bring him back online first.

The Duggars are notoriously late to everything.

And Jim Bob is very arrogant about it also.

If I owned that barn, I would burn it to the ground and cut out slabs of the ground and plant flowers.

So glad she is getting blowback for how nasty the barn was. Remember how she libeled the dr. that lived there when the moved in? She was awful. IIRC, wasn't he was going to sue her for running her mouth about him?

Then it got quiet. I believe TLC settled with him. IMO

She is so lucky that rat didn't bite a kid. I hope no one gets sick from it, even after all this time.

Can you believe this?

xxxxxxxxx lol you're kidding right? I'm never one to comment, but I had to comment because the one thing that has always stood out to me is how Kate may be a perfectionist but she never seems to be a perfectionist in terms of making sure her kids are "ideally perfect" by making sure they look a certain way or eat a certain way. Their meals are always balanced and healthy when she packs meals, but she lets them indulge in treats and have fun. I find it interesting that you're judging her on the one episode that focuses on her clearly making a lot of Halloween food and desserts, like " donuts on a string" ( which was very clever by the way Kate lol💕).. In my opinion, she's a great role model in terms of healthy living and balance.. The skinny comment that she made was clearly a joke and not one she took seriously, and it's so obvious throughout the entire series that she doesn't put her perfectionist expectations on her kids. They are all unique in their own way and I admire how she managed to raise kids who don't put all of their focus on Hollywoods idea of appearance and living.

This is under Mady solemnly hugging her mother. She looks so sad while her mother looks very mental.

I can't say for sure, but my guess is that all those Duggar congratulatory videos (no can buy a card?) come direct from "Duggar Studios," which is their home production company. Right after they were cancelled a couple years ago, all the boys seemed to be photographed wearing Duggar Studios T-shirts. Maybe this is JimBlob's shell company for his TLC contracts.

Another comment that TFMJG usually manages to work into each episode has to do with sugar and how it affects the kids in a negative way. I think she waited until the bonfire, but used the'sugar excuse' in order to avoid doing the smores as planned. At least for the 'littles'.
But wasn't 75% of the spread on the deck sugar based? Where was the protein? In the sandwiches and the hummus? If I was a guest that gave up a weekend day to spend from the late afternoon into the evening on a film set, It would have been a perfect opportunity to fire up the grill--even in advance of the party--and cook some hot dogs and hamburgers. Then just nuke them later.

It's really obvious that TLC is giving her a set amount to work with and making her handle little details that they handled in the past. Production did take care of the barn--thank goodness--but they probably spent $1,000 or less? for food and the barn decor. I also think that she or TLC has economized further by not paying to have Stevieboy there when the shooting is only on the compound. However, I do wonder if TLC pays for Jamie's plane ticket(s) since an adult is necessary to have for TFMJG to play off of sometimes.

Admin, thanks for much for this -- I loved it!
So much to ridicule, so little time.

With all the whining and complaining and nervous breakdowns, the ridiculous truth must be pointed out: TFW is getting PAAAAAID for this! Lots of money! To stay in her g.d. house and throw a party! As I've pointed out before, she pays for NOTHING when an episode is being filmed. Every morsel of food was paid for. Every decoration. Every costume. And cleanup? 100% the responsibility of production -- if not that night, then first thing the next morning. When the director yelled "cut," TFW was done with the party. If the viewers think it ended, and she was standing around in that barn in the dark packing decorations away, and putting leftover food in Tupperwares, they're delusional.

You're right they're not from TLC. I meant to say it's the family's way to get him back in the spotlight.

Kate is still using the "sugar excuse"? She's been doing that since the tups were little. Stop beating a dead horse, Kate.

"Yes, Kate, they certainly did. And please make no mistake, while they may have memories of a cool haunted house, they also made a memory of yet another mental health episode on the part of their mother that nearly ruined the whole thing."

----------

Don't you think, though, that these kids don't know anything else, so for them, her meltdowns, freaking out, and making everything a stressful situation is normal? It's all they've ever known. It would be odd for them to see their mother act any differently.

I recall dad's got primary custody, but I don't recall where dad lives.

On that note, I always found it hypocritical that any sheeple who rags on Jon for having less custody than Kate doesn't do so to Jamie too. And she's the mother, who are traditionally given, in my experience, more deference than men, even today.

I think someone suggesting this was over Columbus Day was probably right. The weather seemed way too mild for end of Oct. The entire episode people were outside without jackets. That would be VERY unusual for the end of October, but entirely common on a mild day toward the beginning. The weather makes a huge transition from warm to cold in October in the Northeast.

I didn't get a really good look at all the offerings, but it did seem like a ton of carbs, sweet stuff.

I'm not sure this was a proper meal. A nice hearty protein (chicken skewers, bbq shrimp, etc) and a salad should have been offered, mixed in with all the gimmicky appetizer type stuff. No adult wants to eat a rolled up peanut butter sandwich, come on. At the end of the day she doesn't understand how to do the most basic of things at a party.

That's where I would peg it. Their budgets on these episodes are rock bottom. A grand on a barn makeover is nothing compared to what they would spend on a trip. They knocked out an entire episode in all of just three days of filming, instead of a week for an out of town trip.

I agree with the comments the barn should be condemned and torn down.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

As for the guests "surprising" TFW by arriving early, it is very likely that every single one of them was in the house, waiting for the director to yell "action." When you're filming, you don't leave anything to chance. And those people all had to sign releases, and possibly get miked up, and maybe even gotten a little makeup applied. Because realest reality.

In all seriousness, I had tears in my eyes reading this. History repeating itself. I vacillate between Kate being mentally ill or just plain evil. Most of the time I think she's evil. No remorse about chucking the dogs or her son, husband, brother, sisters, parents, nieces nephews out of her & kids lives etc., the list is endless. I worry most about Alexis. I feel she will be next to go. Collin and Alexis were the one's who needed March of Dimes or the other organization helped the most with those two after their birth I think with breathing treatments. It's sad Collin was the one (with his sweet brothers) who had to clean out the chicken poop since he was having respiratory problems since chicken poo dries and floats through the air when dried just like dust. I never saw him wear a mask. Wherever he is now, at least he'll be getting good food, NO WORK, getting educated not yelled at or locked in windowless rooms with twist ties around his tiny hands. Not being dragged by his hair into his bedroom and whipped hard into his crib.
Okay, I need to shut the hell up, I'm crying for him again.

. And by the looks of most of your food posts, you make a shit ton of casseroles, so, in reality, it's not that much more work.

Amen Nick.

It's not THAT much more work to cook for eight as opposed to three or four.

It's more work sure, but I do not believe it's eight times the work.

You chop some more veggies, season some more meat. But, everything still cooks at about the same rate, and it only takes a few seconds more to dish up a few extra plates.

We usually make leftovers every day anyway to have for a lunch or two, so we're cooking for more than we have. There's almost no difference between cooking just for us or cooking for us and leftovers.

I think TLC is setting the stage again to 'cancel' the show or not film except for updates every so often. If ET is to be believed, the show was canceled last fall--maybe unofficially as they did film the haunted barn and then the ski trip as they are listed as last season's episodes and they returned in May for the tups birthday.

In times past, production took more care with their shots--they would have moved her skinny a-- from in front of that wine rack, taken care not to show the dogs in their cages, and had the barn cleaned professionally.

Subtle, but effective.

Kate on the Kouch, sounds vaguely German.

Whenever she starts going along on one of her "typically" rambles, I really start to lose the thread. Eyes droop like Boo.

The problem with all this Kate blah blah is that I think she thinks she's interesting. There's no one on the other side to tell her she's not or give her body language that suggests she's not. The producers are getting paid to listen and they're just phoning it in anyway. In real life when someone's eyes glaze over you start to pick up on when a story is getting too long, and ya wrap things up and realize you're not that interesting.

She's not developing her conversational skills, her social skills, which is something I think you learn throughout life and certainly hone in the first several decades of adulthood. By her age, an adult should be able to tell a good, interesting, funny story, and have the room laughing and paying attention. I think she gets more boring by the year, and I really think this is why.

_____

At least in terms of the show, K8 pretty much banned any other adult from having a speaking part YEARS ago, so this is not surprising. Of course, there's Skeve, but he has not had an on-screen speaking part since the RTV trip. I wonder why that is. He's been seen (in the background) since then, any number of times. I don't doubt he's still there. But wherever K8 thought she was going with him after the RTV trip has been completely suppressed in the episodes since.

Outside of him, you've got Deanna (MIA in the last year); Jamie (just popped up, but apparently not there often); Ronnie, the production hairdresser; and Brownie (once last season and on Halloween). Not a lot of continuity there at all. In other words, outside of school and filming, these kids have very little "adult" contact except for their mother. And that's just sad.

Nicky said...

Good point Admin about her social skills. She thinks she's interesting because she's in a room with the camera pointed at her, and a handful of people there paid to listen to her. Her voice overs are monotone, and you can tell she is reading a script. And she's been doing this for 10 years and nothing has changed.

She also couldn't read social cues in the sweet 16 episode. Didn't the girls say the video was more than half an hour, and basically was a mashup of all of the video ever taken of their first year. I'm sure the only editing that was done, was to edit Jon out.

He slowly made his way to a beautiful golden brown horse and had made a braided rope with long weeds and managed to get on the horse with that weed rope and managed to break him.

With the music, I was in awe and in tears. Just beautiful.

Admin (#58), not only does TFW think she's interesting, she thinks she's downright adorable. The giddy, loving way most people think about their kids is the way she thinks about herself.

I suspect she rarely places herself in social situations in which she is not the center of attention. I can't really see her attending another school mom's casual get-together on a Saturday night, or an old friend's 40th birthday party at a restaurant. She's not into elbow-rubbing with the mediocre. But if she gives Rat Barn bash, she expects everyone to come running, and for the guests -- and the TLC crew -- to be in her thrall.

Her agenda included confabs with Republicans who have supported the proposed cuts to Medicaid, the prospect of which daunted her — but only for a moment. “I guess I’m going to have to change their minds,” Arnold said cheerily.

Sound bite: “The timing is critical,” she said. “The BCRA is scary — it would cut $43 billion in Medicaid funding, which would more negatively affect kids than adults. We have to speak out. We have to talk to our congresspeople.”

OMG, Kate get off your ass and DO SOMETHING!

The funny thing is, I don't think Kate can explain "organic" as it relates to produce, meat, home cleaning products, insecticides, you name it.
I don't think she has a clue what it actually means.
Sometimes it means something concise, clear and meaningful and other times, not so much.

Moreover, Kate buys, uses and feeds with non-organic goods and foods about as much as the next mom who tries her best.

Kate's need to run the ORGANIC flag up the pole speaks to how insecure she really is.

Mady I feel is like her mother naturally, as we've seen since childhood. I say this reluctantly because I hated when people would make rude comments on Mady the child. Now she is almost grown. NIOP (#43), I absolutely understand your anger and frustration about C's situation. He was not a character in a sitcom. He's a flesh and blood child: one we came to care about over a decade.

I think that's what I find most appalling about all this. TLC, Kate, the whole lot, are acting like they simply need explain why a character was written out of a series or killed off during sweeps. Wtf, he's a REAL CHILD, not a character. Many of the sheeple even seem bothered by this.

If she doesn't and Jon offers to when the twins turn 18, Cara will be gone so fast . . . .

Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room!
Even a sitcom or really, any tv show, would close the loop on a character that needs to be written out.
It's astounding that TLC thinks not addressing a boy missing/gone for over a YEAR is acceptable.

My working theory is that they have to stack commercials heavily in other shows because they can't put very many of them in the Duggars.
*************************
Oh. My. Gosh. I was bored tonight and I've also been struggling with insomnia lately, so I signed up for the TLCGO app and watched the last episode of Counting On--Season 3, Episode 6--on my computer.

For the purpose of this exercise, we will assume the commercials are the same on the app as what is shown in real time. However, I found out that the commercials change if you rewind the episode for some reason.

The time of the episode was listed as 47:17. It started with a recap/preview of Counting On. I had trouble catching the time the commercials started, so I'm just going to list them in order. Admin, you were right in your theory--there were 22 total commercials shown during this show, all of them for TLC programs with the exception of one (shown 3 times) for a local electric company.

*This is the 1st round of commercials.

1. Kate + 8
2. Outdaughtered
3. I Am Jazz
4. Diana:Tragedy or Treason
5. Rattled
6. The Spouse House
7. I Am Jazz

You know JimBoob and family don't appreciate the commercials for the transgender boy in I Am Jazz. Oh, well:)

*Below are the 1st round of commercials after I rewound the 'tape'--I had trouble trying to back up, so had to go back to the beginning. We'll use this as as the start of the official list.

1. Local electric company--I prefer not to get specific as to my location--but I will be calling them on Monday
2. Counting On
3. I Am Jazz--*this was weird, it seemed the ran the commercial to a certain point halfway thru, then started it over and let it run to the conclusion so it was longer than normal.
4. Hair Goddess
5. Rattled
6. Diana:Tragedy or Treason
7. Outdaughtered

*2nd round of commercials.

8. I Am Jazz
9. Local electric company--I prefer not to get specific as to my location
10. Kate + 8
11. Counting On
12. I Am Jazz
13. The Spouse House
14. Hair Goddess

*3rd round of commercials.

15. Hair Goddess
16. Diana:Tragedy or Treason
17. Kate + 8
18. Rattled
19. Counting On
20. Outdaughtered
21. The Spouse House
22. Local electric company--I prefer not to get specific as to my location

The show ended shortly after this. Highlights: Jill & Dirty Jesus packing to return to their overseas missionary work, Jill cutting Dirty Jesus' hair (no more man bun as it's not really accepted over there), Why is Jinger and Derrick's house so big compared to Jessa's--is it actually the guesthouse on the Duggar family homestead?, Jinger shopping in Laredo for gifts for the family (no real reason?), the Duggars receiving the 2 packages of gifts, JimBoob and his pot belly relegated to holding up his phone so everyone can video chat with Jinger (focus was on the kids, so no talking to the camera by JimBoob or Babykins), Jackson is feisty, Jill, Derrick & Israel get on plane and arrival is shown, boyfriend proposes to Joy Anna--JimBoob and Babykins nowhere in sight, but boyfriend's father was, Joseph asks permission of Kendra's father to court her, Joseph throws a little shade on Josh? stating 'it's been so long since a Duggar brother entered into a courtship' and Jessa appeared to reference the switcheroo re: which brother would end up with Kendra, stating she knew that Kendra would end up related to her somehow.

Really boring stuff. It must be killing JimBoob to be playing 2nd fiddle to his kids.

The TLCgo app commercials seem to be totally different than what's show on TV.

However for Counting On only having one outside commercials and all the rest being in house, that is very different than episodes of Kate Plus 8 I've watched on TLCgo, where they show dozens of outside commercials.

You know Kate has checked out of the whole aging parents thing. She's not going to check in on them, help them with their needs, their health, their house, their shopping.
Kate is not going to take her parents into her home if they ever can't be in their own home.
That is going to fall on her sisters and brother.

&&&&

All the more reason she's better situated than many other mothers her age. I would say the majority of mothers in their 40's are dealing with aging parents, everything from minor issues to major.

She has intentionally removed a very emotional, trying, tiring component of a young to middle-aged adult's life. It's one less thing on her plate. To still be having the sort of mental health episodes she has when her life is as posh as it is, is very telling.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

TFW showed her cold, black heart about C's situation in the People interview. Not only was it hard on HER and him (yes, she put herself first!), but it was taking her time away from the rest of the kids. So it was basically a math equation. Getting rid of C = things are easier at home. What would happen if, heaven forbid a million times, one of the children had cancer? "Damn, kid, taking you back and forth to chemo is taking my time away from the other kids!" Or maybe she'd just repeat her theory that some times God builds in punishments.

im an old anti gosselin fan. havent posted in a long time about kate because i thought finally the madness died. nope tlc has to still pick up the show. i will admit it sounds cruel but i only watch it for meltdowns. even thou kate stated a long tome ago she was clean spate and gping to let more go and be a little down to earth "little" indeed. i feel so bad about collin, personally were ever he is and not on camera i hope is 85% better than being with kate.

it is sad this kids are seeing and understanding their ,other is a total mental case. i guess kate herself has to much pride getting help. wll kate it shows you need help. not including the platinum subscription to tlc ( nannys housekeepers, personal assistents, bodyguard and etc) she lost that cash cow and cant do good on her own for promotion, books, cooking, websites, instagram twiter to name a few. i wonder what the tlc price per episode is now? is it per family quota per kid or set price? right now i can see kate doing a episode for 8 grand because she has no other revenue coming in cant count jons dj tips lol.

my question is did they do the interview just recently or with the show was taped because kate looks really horribly bad. her face looks like mama junes new face all long puffy drawn out. looks like she needs new fillers her fake eyelashes her ny blowouts and hire a makeup artist. plus what happened to her cute little got to keep up with mady boutique looks? in the birthday eps she looks more tones thined out but overly stressed and worn out. maybe im looking to far into this than i should.

kate better hurry up time is ticking on the woman most men run from to get that new man whom has not a slight clue whom she is. plus a total punching bag push over? maybe she just needs to turn gay. oh wait even a female wouldnt completely stay with her, dramaticsm, child like actions, lazy, bitchyness etc.

ps. your re-cap hit it to the t, frankly it was better than the show.

oh ya chicken/barn miss klean yup living with animals it clearly stated um we just neglected them like colin is that bad? for someone whom prides them self a knetfreak ya she is clearly a 2 everything looks like is a big mess . what happened to the kids chores? did she give up on her all mighty kate list a do's and dont's?

Katie Irene Kreider was on the prowl for a man with money, and her friends knew it. But Kate didn’t give Jonathan
Keith Gosselin a second glance at the company picnic they were both attending – not until one of Kate’s friends mentioned to her that Jon came from a “rich family” that is.

“His father is a big doctor in Wyomissing,” the friend said to Kate. Having had zero luck in finding an actual doctor to force into marriage, Kate did the next best thing she could think of – she went after a doctor’s son.

Kate quickly learned that Jon lived on the “best street” in affluent Wyomissing, PA, and her blood started pumping. Kate also learned that Jon had a girlfriend. “Not for long!” Kate told her friend. This is the story of how Jon and Kate met.

It is “their story,” in Kate’s own words, as it was written on Jon and Kate’s earliest website: “It all started when Jon and I met on October 5, 1997 at a picnic. I never believed in “love at first sight”, but this came really close.

Jon was walking across the grass and I saw him and was instantly intrigued! Our eyes met and continued to meet from across the way all afternoon. Finally, I arranged for someone to introduce us… and the rest is history!

This is how Kate described that initial meeting with Jon in her first book. Kate said that she had been a planner her entire life and she took great pride when all of her plans worked out exactly as her detailed, scheduled list and calendar said it should.

When Jon, a twenty-year-old soccer player sauntered across the lawn in front of Kate, who sat under a pavilion chatting with her friends, Kate says she tried not to watch him for too long because she was at the picnic to be with her friend, not to find a date.

After she and Jon “danced around each other all afternoon, stealing glances and quickly turning away,” she says that Jon was the one who walked over to her because he noticed Kate holding a baby bundled up in a soft pink blanket.

Jon said, “Are you going to let anyone else have a turn holding that baby?” Kate said that that was the moment that she knew she wanted to know more about this “cute, friendly, Asian guy who, like me, seemed to melt at the sight of a ten-pound package of sleepy promise.”

That sounds simply beautiful, doesn’t it? But in an early draft of Multiple Blessings, Kate described that very same moment at the picnic differently. Kate said that she was “spurred on” by her eager matchmaking friends so she “devised a complicated plan to go talk to someone who knew someone else who just might know him and be able to introduce the two of us.”

GollyGee said...

Kate added that she wasn’t usually wasn’t so bold and that this was out of character for her but she was excited that it worked. So let’s recap. On her website version, Kate said that she arranged for a friend to introduce her and Jon.

In Multiple Blessings, she said that she wasn’t interested in finding a date and that Jon had nonchalantly walked over to her while she was holding a baby. And in the version that didn’t make it into her book, she said she devised a complicated plan to enlist a couple of someones to introduce them.

It is all clear as mud, and leads to some obvious questions. Where the heck did the baby come from? Was it a prop in her “complicated plan” to meet Jon? It certainly wouldn’t be surprising to learn that she was exploiting a baby for her personal gain even back then.

Talk about foreshadowing. And was it really the “baby” moment that made her want to know more about the “cute, friendly Asian guy,” or was it the moment her friend told her that Jon’s father was a big doctor in Wyomissing?
In the first line of Chapter 1 of Multiple Blessings, from one of Kate’s earlier drafts, she says that it’s strange how the moment when you meet someone special is forever engraved in your memory. What’s more strange is that this very special moment that was “forever engraved” in Kate’s memory changed throughout three different drafts of the same story.

As you will soon see, nothing is ever what it seems with Kate Gosselin. It’s hard to know if Kate ever really wanted love from Jon, or if she was just looking for someone with money to fill the role of a father in her master plan.

At any rate, Katie and Jonny started dating. Jon didn’t want to get married right away. Not to Kate or anyone else. He wanted to enjoy his youth. Back then Jon was a very good-looking guy.

I was surprised when he showed me his pictures from high school and all of the very attractive girls who were interested in him. My first experience in seeing Jon was watching him getting beaten down by Kate on Jon & Kate Plus Ei8ht during the divorce episodes.

I had always just assumed he was a nerdy guy with no other options. Well, I saw evidence of many better options, but Kate pressured him enough that he finally went along on her journey. Jon and Kate got married on June 12, 1999, at a friend’s home in Wyomissing.

Kate said it was “A perfect garden wedding with equally perfect weather,” and that “It was truly a beautiful thing!” Kate did pretty well for herself in marrying Jon because his father was extremely generous.

He paid for their wedding, bought them their first house in Wyomissing, and quietly supported them financially, giving them a large check each month. He gave them a lot of support and a lot of money, and Kate LOVED that about him.

OK. The self-proclaimed planner found herself a husband, check.

What was next on the list?

Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World by Robert Hoffman.

kate organic. kate is only organic when its free free free or coupons or its just kate food and products she uses. ive been around organic folks they are organic to the t from farm to table folks live off the grid no cell phones tv wear hemp no inoculations they are naturalist. basically this was when i lived in ca for awhile. i learned alot. i dont even think kate can recycle. she preaches it when zome one teaches it but doesnt praise it.

so if kate said no more parties oh no that means no more awkward parent faking with kate, oh no more fits crying oh she is going to crack moments.

this is just one that gets me since day one kate said im "ocd" i dont believe for one she is ocd. you have to be clinically evaluated by a licensed psychologist. many people over use the ocd because the are neat, organized, lable, do things a certain way, repetitive and much more. in many ways one way or another we have these nitches. putting food in all different size containers boxs a having a butlers pantry organized from cereal to same detergent doesnt make you ocd it makes you organized. its such an over used term i hear daily. (as we can see kate isnt orginized if she was this party would of been planed a month before, in a folder with specific details from a-z. time to pick up supplies, food when to make and be done you all get it.instead tlc is clearly showing us how much they actually inapt-ed this woman and now she in in cable of doing the simple tasks like throwing out her daughters old oj cup. yes mady should of did it. but if she was such a nut about clean... kate would of had it done right after mady had that glass finished or not. not two days ago i mean 5mins ago

I've seen a good medication regiment coupled with therapeutic services help mental illness. It can stabilize the patient, lessen mental breakdowns and physical and emotional violence, calm the patient down, help them feel more at ease. In turn this helps other people around them not feel so constantly victimized by then.

I do agree that it would be very hard to change who she is at her core, but I do believe with treatment, there's a strong possibility her mood could be more stable. It is very unlikely she could ever be "normal", but she could move closer to it.

If you knew nothing else about her, hearing that she abused toddlers and animals would tell you all you need to know about her heart, or lack thereof.

I think the reason they ran with Jessa's baby is because the Duggars are being very quiet about Jill, the baby and his delivery. She labored at the birth house for a day and a half with the incompetent baby deliverer and then went to the hospital where she had to have a C-section.

I think Jill had to have a C-section with her first baby and your not suppose to do a vaginal birth after a C-section. I'm

But overall, the decision to use this same incompetent woman who has a bad track record is going to backfire one day. Jill almost died with the first one and Jessa almost bled out.

Why they trust this back alley idiot over qualified doctors and hospitals is beyond me. I really believe Michelle is the force behind this because of Gothard.

Why they trust this back alley idiot over qualified doctors and hospitals is beyond me. I really believe Michelle is the force behind this because of Gothard.

As far as I know, Jill and the baby are still in the hospital or just the baby since the birth.

Mady has had behavioral problems since she was little. I don't think Kate ever took Mady's meltdowns and penchant for losing her temper (and quickly) very seriously.
I don't think Kate has taken any of the girls' physical abuse seriously.
I watched one of the clips from the recent Halloween show and dontcha know, the girls are smacking and hitting each other just like Kate did to Jon.

If the Duggar husbands' testicles had never descended, they would most likely be sterile by this point in their lives:). I think JimBoob borrowed a page out of Khate's playbook and keeps their gonads in jars, letting the Duggar husbands have them long enough to knock up his daughters.

Except Jeremy--I have high hopes for him although I'm surprised JimBoob approved that courtship since he had to know they wouldn't be living in Arkansas. My theory is he wanted an actual minister in the family after blowback about Derrick & Ben's lack of 'real' jobs.

It's hard to say what her net worth is. SHe has made millions, but she has spent huge amounts, too. At various times she has had nannies, housekeepers, a laundry girl, a person assistant, someone to cook meals and drop them off, lawn guys, a pool guy...the list goes on and on. That must have been an enormous expenditure, just because she's too lazy to do those things herself. When she and Jon got divorced, she was seen faxing off papers with lists of monthly expenses. The total, if I recall correctly, was $44,000. Per month. That's more than a half million a year! Then there was a 3-year span where she was unemployed, and once going back on TV her income has been limited. No more 40+ episode years. SO it's entirely possible that she doesn't have a lot left over. It's also possible that she has millions in hidden assets. Nobody knows.

The new TLC statement about only having limited runs of K+8, plus the fact that they seem to be taking a break from filming, will be interesting. The likelihood of her making any huge income in the future from TV is slim. If she has millions, she's going to have to start using the money to live on. If she doesn't have much, she will be downsizing or taking a normal job in a few years. Only time will tell.

Like a lot of the people here on this board, I'm not sure the $200,000 figure is correct. I think she depends on the TLC salary for the kids' private school tuition (although I think some of the kids are on scholarship or she gets a discount due to the number of kids she has enrolled) as well as a lot of her monthly expenses. It seems she's always been able to film a back-to-school shopping trip and in Robert's book he stated it was in her contract that everyone got new clothes when they shot an episode. The latter was at the time of the RV trip so that may be off the table now. I think she's got a lot of money socked away, but it's HER money and she will do everything in her power not to use it for the support of her family.

Do Gothard followers vaccinate their children? If they don't, all it would take is a severe case of the mumps to decrease the birth rate in the Duggar household. Just sayin'. NOT wishing that on anybody.

Sometimes I think the Duggars are 'so close to the Lord' they don't stop and think out all possible "what if's".

Michelle made a 911 call about Jessa's bleeding that was made public. I thought they talked about all that on the show. Duggars love to talk about their deliveries. They don't mind showing medical emergencies with the children.

There's the Bates family who have 19 children who have a show on another channel. They follow the Duggars' beliefs. One of the daughters has been married almost 2 years, and she indicated she's had fertility trouble. I can't imagine dealing with infertility in that group.

I have a feeling she has that money fixed where Jon can't touch it even for the kids. She may have put Steve on there. Jon had to go to court and get Steve's name off documents over finances or whatever that he shouldn't of been on.

So if the article below is to be believed, Anna started the Duggar home birth tradition because her OB doctor was on vacation at the time of her first delivery and her sister-in-laws followed suit. Most of Michelle's deliveries were in the hospital and that would make for a pretty tame show--what I can remember of Michelle's deliveries is she and JimBoob would go to the hospital, then the kids would come up the next day to meet their new sibling(s), and some of the older girls were present during the later births.

I can understand Jill & Jessa wanting to give a home irth a try since Anna was successful, but Jill shouldn't have tried it a 2nd time.

"Or, did she get rid of his bed when she got rid of him knowing he will not be back?"

My moms co-worker told a story of someone she knew and was appalled when she recounted this story. A woman who had terminal cancer and had adult children was still living in her home. Her children got a garbage dump and started hauling their mothers stuff into the trash! Mind you, the mother was still conscious when this took place. And here we're her daughters going through her stuff right in front of her.The terminally ill lady was in her late fifties. How incredibly insensitive and cruel! The mother even made a comment on how nice it would have been to have a rocking chair to sit on as she wasn't comfortable sitting on her sofa. But the daughters commented that it would be a "waste of money because she didn't have long to live anyway". And this family had money,so money wasn't an object.
I can picture TFW being as insensitive as this woman's daughters, no doubt. She probably moved out all C's stuff as she happily moves on.

Boy, I haven't thought about this crew in months. Happened to catch two episodes this morning.

Why are they throwing two gigantic parties in three weeks? The girls' sweet 16 was literally earlier in the month. Also, that is a rather small sweet 16, certainly by New York City standards, where they are like proms or wedding receptions, with catering, a dj, dancing and in some cases, a court with attendants. This is from the influence of Quincenara parties, although even the Latino girls have the big party at 16 now, usually.

Kate carrying on over 10 girls, a few parents, a hairdresser and some salmon burgers was ridiculous. And then freaking out again three weeks later when she wanted practically the same bonfire on the deck party was doubly ridiculous.

God, I missed her!

The freak-out over the 16th birthday party was insane. The decorations were no big deal, so all she had to do was cook. And once again, she has the money to have it catered, so why put herself through the stress? Does she really think that makes for good TV? People get sick of tuning in every week to see yet another freak-out from Kate. Fun? No! How about if they hire a caterer and then show them all having fun and enjoying each other's company? Happy, pleasant, feel-good TV.

I was just talking to my SIL about childhood experiences. She is divorced and works two jobs, so DH and I take her kids on a lot of fun outings. She was fretting that she can't go, but I told her that when the kids are grown, they will remember all the fun things they got to do. They won't remember who was--or was not--there. It's the pleasant experience that will stay in their memories. That's what Kate doesn't understand. Her tantrums make every experience so unpleasant that when the kids are grown, it will be the stress and the negativity attached to each occasion that they will remember most. She talks about them making memories, but she is ruining every memory. If she'd just chill and take steps to reduce stress, they'd all have happy memories of the things they get to do.
