I would think any facility would insist on family participation since the goal would be to reunite Collin with his parents and siblings as well as manage his 'fluid' symptoms. An IEP in regular school would be another goal. What must they be thinking? I really doubt helpful sweet Collin did something so violent- even children who have murdered others get parental visits. So back to the foster home theory. We just don't know but Collin did look sad from a very early age.It's this family's business but Collin has support and empathy on this blog. I used to be a CNA for a nursing home many years ago. I was assigned a patient, that none of the other CNA's wanted to care for.She was a handful. She was very rude, argumentive, and a drama queen. She would have melt downs just like Kate.She was bitter and angry every second.Family or friends would never visit.
This reminds me of the skiing episode, Kate's going tubing and is freaking out .One of the younger girls is trying to help her and calm her down while Katie is screeching and talking down to anyone trying to help. This moment reminded me of my days as a CNA, dealing with this nasty patient. I can only imagine what a handful Kate will be in her older years ( as she already is). I really felt bad for those girls. They show a lot more maturity than their own mom. Then you see one of the girls hugging her once it's all over. Kate is never once embarrassed by herself. Instead she almost demands this kind of attention from them. Then you see the little girls talking among each other and say " I hope she did alright" (with stress and concern on their faces. )Again, for 12 yrs olds to have to say this isn't normal. It's going to be hard dealing with their mentally ill mom.I could only hope she doesn't guilt them into staying with her. Or she may end of like that patient, abandoned at the nursing home. She better watch it.
If Steve was with her as her companion, he wouldn't get paid. If he goes with her as a 'bodyguard' he makes a cool $1600 per day + expenses from TLC according to Roberts book.

I agree.I don't expect the kids to be weeping and they are probably heartsick but told not to mention Collin on camera, but it does seem like the two boys are fine with just the two of them. The twins and the tup girls never cared much for Collin with the exception of Hannah supposedly telling Jon abut his cruel treatment by TFW. How it all came to this, I just can't fathom and how TLC can still present this charade as Kate Plus EIGHT is horrible.

And this point can't be stressed enough. This boy was part of a group. The tups. The littles. The Hershey 6-pack. They shared a womb. They were part of medical history. Where's Jon's book,I ask again! **** I have though about Robert MANY times since Collin's ouster. I bet Robert knows something about what happened to him, what with his connections and perhaps local chatter and water cooler talk. But, I hesitate to wish him involved again. Robert did his level best-more than most-to shine light on the f*cked-up circus of monkeys that is the Gosselin carnival show. I watched last night's episode of Outdaughtered, and was really struck by the disparity of production costs between the shows. Kate's show is non-stop vacations, over-the-top parties, and expensive home improvement. On Outdaughtered, other than a couple trips to the doctor for Hazel, there was a stop at a bakery where Adam and Hazel picked up treats and they bought potties for all the girls. They don't seem to take numerous vacations on TLC's dime, and I haven't heard of any huge home improvements or parties. It's pretty much a given that, after less than two years with TLC, the Busbys aren't making $40K per episode like Kate. Yet their show gets hundreds of thousands more viewers than K+8. Maybe that's a factor in dumping K+8. They can probably film two episodes of Outdaughtered for the cost of one episode of K+8, and get much greater returns for their money. I can see them keeping the Gs around for a little catch-up every now and then, but filming on a regular basis is just bad business. It's a guaranteed loss.

Collin was/is well liked and its only natural that the TV audience that has watched these kids grow is concerned and anxious to know he is ok and progressing in his special needs education. We have to respect Kate as his mother to give the public that update if and when she deems it necessary. Everyone longs to hear some good news in this regard. Funny how all the kids have to come running to comfort Kate when she has one of her meltdowns, but when they are the ones who are in distress (example: seasickness!) she just brushes them off. That would be very unusual to have such a long commitment for a child to an institution. Usually such things are reevaluated on a standard schedule. In our state it's by law every six months a child's placement must be reevaluated and reconsidered, with consideration of return to their parents and home always an option.
The goal in all contexts not just dependent court, is return to the home. That's just the law.

i swear all collin needed was more one on one. *** I was at the pool recently and watched a mom work with her son who has Downs Syndrome. She was in the pool with him, working on motor coordination with throwing etc. I thought to myself that Kate would never do that. My neighbor has a grandson with a chromosomal disorder which leaves him severely handicapped and in need of constant therapy and special education needs. His family works so hard to help him advance and this is just the way their family is. There is no getting rid of him because he's a burden. He's part of the family and they are great, just as they are.

Tucker's Mom (#66), let's say for argument's sake that TFW truly wasn't equipped to handle C's special needs situation on her own. Why didn't she ask the child's FATHER to HELP? Some regularly scheduled one-on-one time with his dad, away from the chaos and cameras at home, just might have made an appreciable difference in C's life. At least it would've been worth a try.
But no...that would've messed with TFW's (and TLC's) struggling single mom narrative. And it would have meant releasing the strangle hold of control over which kids she allows out of her house. For her to dramatically claim she exhausted every option before removing C from his home is a LIE if she never asked Jon -- her son's living, breathing, loving father--to help.
I think if Collin went to Jon's to live, Kate would not be able to control what he said to whom. I really believe that's part of her scheme- to keep the kids under her total control for as long as possible. The twins are 16 now and have no public social media. That's very weird in this day and age.
So, I think Collin was perhaps removed from the home because Kate was failing to provide what he needed.

It sounds like Collin's issues were well beyond the scope of what Kate could do. She's not a therapist, a psychologist, or a mental health professional.
I hope that he's benefiting from his time away from her. Since she has mental issues, his being at home might be the worst thing for the child. She could only drag him down with her. He needs a positive influence in his life, and that certainly isn't Kate, and all of Milo's inane platitudes won't make it so.

I used to be a CNA for a nursing home many years ago. I was assigned a patient, that none of the other CNA's wanted to care for.She was a handful. She was very rude, argumentive, and a drama queen. She would have melt downs just like Kate.She was bitter and angry every second.Family or friends would never visit.
This reminds me of the skiing episode, Kate's going tubing and is freaking out .One of the younger girls is trying to help her and calm her down while Katie is screeching and talking down to anyone trying to help.
This moment reminded me of my days as a CNA, dealing with this nasty patient. I can only imagine what a handful Kate will be in her older years ( as she already is). I really felt bad for those girls. They show a lot more maturity than their own mom. Then you see one of the girls hugging her once it's all over. Kate is never once embarrassed by herself. Instead she almost demands this kind of attention from them. Then you see the little girls talking among each other and say " I hope she did alright" (with stress and concern on their faces. )Again, for 12 yrs olds to have to say this isn't normal. It's going to be hard dealing with their mentally ill mom.I could only hope she doesn't guilt them into staying with her. Or she may end of like that patient, abandoned at the nursing home. She better watch it.
If Steve was with her as her companion, he wouldn't get paid. If he goes with her as a 'bodyguard' he makes a cool $1600 per day + expenses from TLC according to Roberts book.

I agree.I don't expect the kids to be weeping and they are probably heartsick but told not to mention Collin on camera, but it does seem like the two boys are fine with just the two of them. The twins and the tup girls never cared much for Collin with the exception of Hannah supposedly telling Jon abut his cruel treatment by TFW. How it all came to this, I just can't fathom and how TLC can still present this charade as Kate Plus EIGHT is horrible.

I have though about Robert MANY times since Collin's ouster. I bet Robert knows something about what happened to him, what with his connections and perhaps local chatter and water cooler talk.

I can't imagine living with the fear that your mother is capable of banishing you forever.
Legitimate questions for her fans:
- How badly behaved does a child have to be before you send him away for 2 years?
- Why is that child never spoken about, or seem to be missed? Why is it ok for a mother to state a vacation without that child is the best memory she will ever have?
- After 16 years of being a mother, why can't she seem to handle meal times, parties, vacation prep, etc without major drama?
- Why is it ok for her children to constantly comfort her and not the other way around?
- If she's so organized, why is her house a disorganized mess?
- Why does she state she would need a babysitter for 13 and 16 yr olds? Has she not raised them well enough to be self sufficient at this age? (and she and her fans have stated loudly that it's been only her, as Jon is not involved).
- Why can't all the kids see their dad? Doesn't he have any rights?
- Why can't she get a job when the kids are in school most of the day?
- Why would her children constantly thank her for the smallest of things 100's of times a day, as she states?
- Why do her children hit each other and demean each other constantly?
- Why is there no extended family in their lives? Did every single one of them want to make money off of them?
I could really go on, and on. I know some of her fans read here. I challenge them to give some thoughtful answers. For real.
I watched last night's episode of Outdaughtered, and was really struck by the disparity of production costs between the shows. Kate's show is non-stop vacations, over-the-top parties, and expensive home improvement. On Outdaughtered, other than a couple trips to the doctor for Hazel, there was a stop at a bakery where Adam and Hazel picked up treats and they bought potties for all the girls. They don't seem to take numerous vacations on TLC's dime, and I haven't heard of any huge home improvements or parties. It's pretty much a given that, after less than two years with TLC, the Busbys aren't making $40K per episode like Kate. Yet their show gets hundreds of thousands more viewers than K+8. Maybe that's a factor in dumping K+8. They can probably film two episodes of Outdaughtered for the cost of one episode of K+8, and get much greater returns for their money. I can see them keeping the Gs around for a little catch-up every now and then, but filming on a regular basis is just bad business. It's a guaranteed loss.

Collin was/is well liked and its only natural that the TV audience that has watched these kids grow is concerned and anxious to know he is ok and progressing in his special needs education. We have to respect Kate as his mother to give the public that update if and when she deems it necessary. Everyone longs to hear some good news in this regard. KIAT, I LOL'd at the bolded part of Milo's "explanation." If People offers her another cover in exchange for a Collin story, she'd do it in a heartbeat. She wouldn't give it a second thought. Unless, of course, she is now prohibited from doing so by a gag order.
And YES, how funny that it's Milo herself who keeps bringing the Collin question up on Twitter! She really seems to see herself as in charge of K8's PR strategy and, as such, is the natural choice to ask these tough questions. Unfortunately for her, K8 tends to ignores her completely. Why does she keep embarrassing herself like this?

I see them on a daily basis and I have to pay attention or I'll end up with one on my front bumper!
Funny how all the kids have to come running to comfort Kate when she has one of her meltdowns, but when they are the ones who are in distress (example: seasickness!) she just brushes them off. When they have outbursts she doesn't comfort them, she just rolls her eyes like, "see what I have to put up with?".
Interesting that Milo said, "whether there is ever more filming or not". She read that statement (or read about it here) and she knows what it means. Notice how all the fans just pretended that statement was never made? Denial is their coping mechanism, but Milo broke with the herd. She was the last one I expected to acknowledge it.

Where did you hear that Kate was going to Grey Gardens? It's in East Hampton, and she's in North Carolina. We did talk here about how she and Mady could end up like Big Edie and Little Edie, holed up in that house and dreaming of what could have been. But I never heard of her going there.

Probably because she's an idiot who has no critical thinking ability and hopes that Kate will address the situation so she can't be accused of abandoning her son. She's poking at Kate because it looks like Kate isn't communication with her in so many other ways.
Milo is the laughingstock of all things Kate, but she's just too stupid to know it, or to care.
I've seen some of Outdaughtered. As far as I know, they've been to NYC and to some place not that far from home. Potty training and poop talk shouldn't be allowed on any reality show. The older daughter seems very sweet, not like Mady. There is other family around(a grandmother and siblings), but Kate had that family support once upon a time.
I think the wool has been pulled from most of the sheeple eyes, but she's still bamboozling the really stupid and those overseas who really don't know the whole story.

the day that episode came out of the gum and kate didnt cut it out or try picking it off, she just threw out collin in a way. my one child has a doll since birth she is almost 9 and has traveled the world with her she has fallin apart got lost has had gum or candy on her plus i cant count how many times i sew her. i would never throw her out even though she looks so beated up

That would be very unusual to have such a long commitment for a child to an institution. Usually such things are reevaluated on a standard schedule. In our state it's by law every six months a child's placement must be reevaluated and reconsidered, with consideration of return to their parents and home always an option.
The goal in all contexts not just dependent court, is return to the home. That's just the law.

They get kicked out at 18, I believe.

I was at the pool recently and watched a mom work with her son who has Downs Syndrome. She was in the pool with him, working on motor coordination with throwing etc.
I thought to myself that Kate would never do that.
My neighbor has a grandson with a chromosomal disorder which leaves him severely handicapped and in need of constant therapy and special education needs.
His family works so hard to help him advance and this is just the way their family is. There is no getting rid of him because he's a burden. He's part of the family and they are great, just as they are.
So, I think Collin was perhaps removed from the home because Kate was failing to provide what he needed.
Tucker's Mom (#66), let's say for argument's sake that TFW truly wasn't equipped to handle C's special needs situation on her own. Why didn't she ask the child's FATHER to HELP? Some regularly scheduled one-on-one time with his dad, away from the chaos and cameras at home, just might have made an appreciable difference in C's life. At least it would've been worth a try.
But no...that would've messed with TFW's (and TLC's) struggling single mom narrative. And it would have meant releasing the strangle hold of control over which kids she allows out of her house. For her to dramatically claim she exhausted every option before removing C from his home is a LIE if she never asked Jon -- her son's living, breathing, loving father--to help.
I think if Collin went to Jon's to live, Kate would not be able to control what he said to whom.
I really believe that's part of her scheme- to keep the kids under her total control for as long as possible.
The twins are 16 now and have no public social media. That's very weird in this day and age.

It sounds like Collin's issues were well beyond the scope of what Kate could do. She's not a therapist, a psychologist, or a mental health professional.
I hope that he's benefiting from his time away from her. Since she has mental issues, his being at home might be the worst thing for the child. She could only drag him down with her. He needs a positive influence in his life, and that certainly isn't Kate, and all of Milo's inane platitudes won't make it so.
