Kate and the kids seen filming at Target

A few bystanders spotted the continued filming in Target over the weekend.

True. Maybe Figure 8 feels confident they'll be able to sell these episodes to TLC. Or maybe TLC already prepaid for a certain amount and they're just filming them. They must feel confident they'll make their money back somehow.

If they're making enough money on their overseas dumplings i imagine it's entirely possible Figure 8 might just film with the intent to dump.

I wonder if last week was a test run. Ach du meine Güte!

besides an overseas dump, Figure 8 could also be planning a YouTube dump. I wonder how the annivsary show did on YouTube.

I was on TFW's TLC Facebook page today and what I find funny is that there's a TLC Lifehacks (breakfast for kids) hosted by some mommy blogger with (gasp) only 2 kids. The overnight oats look like the Swiss oats that I make. Pretty good once you get over the whole cold oatmeal thing.

I can see that, but I feel that TLC or Steve contacts them and tells them to take the pics down because they could sue because they took pictures of them filming and that is not allowed because it would be leaking filming a show.

But, it is out in public. Sorry, Rat Claws.

There is a European market. TLC airs in Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Norway, Poland, Balkans, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, etc. Perhaps this is the new money making strategy. After all, Kate did not say her new season in January was in the US, LOL! I would not even have thought about it except for tweets about was seeing them playing in the snow building an igloo which never aired here except for YouTube pay per view.

Sadly I don't think she cares if they dump the episodes overseas. It's the filming, attention and money she loves. Who cares if fans miss out. As far as the Target excursion I guess Mady loves it but at that age nothing would embarrass me more than to take up an entire aisle at Target with a film crew on me. If at least some of the kids aren't getting embarrassed by this something has gone haywire in normal child development.

Admin (#13), I know a 13-year-old girl whose dad is an attorney for a big music executive. He can get tickets for just about any concert in town, and she's had the opportunity to attend some exclusive events. The girl has a middle school dance coming up, and, for a joke, the dad pretended he was going to be a chaperone, and
the girl freaked out! There was nothing more horrifying to this young teenager than the idea
of her dad around while she was trying to have
fun with her friends.

Something tells me M's idea of a good time on
a Saturday afternoon was probably not shopping with her mommy (and possibly a few siblings)
while the cameras rolled. Remember, this isn't
an in-and-out thing -- even if what we see on
the show is edited down to a few minutes.
Filming takes hours. Did M have to give up
a fun plan with her friends? Would she
have rather have been home decompressing
after a long week of school? Is she, or any
of the other children, ever allowed to say
no to filming if they simply doesn't want to participate?

TLC stinks said...

Normal 15 year olds would rather shop with their friends. However, I believe Mady loves the attention as much as mom. I imagine she thinks she's "all that" at school.

&&&&&

There is a major drawback of filming that is getting worse the older they get. And that is the impact it is having on normal social development. You're right, a normal child her age should naturally want to go shopping with friends and hang out with friends. It is important for her to spend lots of time with kids her age to develop socially. When she is spending all this time with Mom, whose social skills are a terrible model for her, and filming, she is missing valuable time elsewhere.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

It is a completely normal stage of teenage development to be mortified by your parents and not want to spend much time with them. We'd have to ask a psychologist but I'm not sure what the damage could be to spend too much time with them and not with friends.

You might see kids with special needs or socially awkward kids gravitating toward mom and dad, but not a normal kid like Mady. It just isn't normal.

There's a cute commercial where a dad is driving his teenage daughter to school and she insists he drop her off a block away. That's just normal, you can't take it personally, and they come around eventually.

Kate seems to think it's a badge of honor her kids want to be with her all the time, whereas I mostly see it as unhealthy and stunting their normal social development.

I don't know that anyone knows. Each production and network arrangement/contract is probably different. It depends on what their arrangement is.

Having just been to Target yesterday I always find it a zoo because I can only go on the weekends or in the evenings. I've taken to trying to avoid having a cart and just use a basket because it's easier to get around, but that's not always possible. I'm kind of amazed at the level of disregard for the general working public who has to go to Target on a Saturday and would like to try to get in and out without whole aisles being blocked by camera crews and without having to avoid the area because there was a disclaimer if you go there you might be on camera. What BS.

If you have to do this shit can you do so at 7am on a Tuesday morning?

At what point do you as a crew and subjects feel embarrassed to inconvenience other people? Do they ever feel badly about this? Ever?

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Admin (#22), and, sadly, the twins' closeness
with their arrested-adolescent mom isn't currently
mitigated by a relationship with their more mature dad, because TFW has effectively alienated them from him. And their local aunts and uncles and grandparents were kicked to the curb long ago.
So TFW is their sole adult role model at the moment. Scary thought.

______

I recently read an interview with the guy (Bill Hayes, interview published in 2009) who's the head of Figure 8. I think when they filmed the very first special, "Surviving (etc.)," they did it on spec and later sold it to TLC. In those days I am sure it wasn't very costly---none of the "talent" was getting paid, for one. Once TLC went to sign them as a series, I think at that point TLC has an investment in how the "talent" is branded, and so you get the TLC contracts with the talent. I'm still not clear on who actually pays Kate, Figure 8 or TLC, but it seems like it might be TLC at this point. And maybe she's also getting a check from Figure 8 since she's now got "producer" (LOL) credit on her shows.

In the interview, Hayes goes on about filming "organic and unscripted life," or some such drivel. Clearly, his philosophy of film-making has changed dramatically in the seven years since he made that statement.

I think the girl with TFW looks like one of the sextuplets. Maybe Hannah. Another one all too taken with the camera.

Interesting clothing choices. TFW in flip flops, sleeveless shirt, leggings; the girl in a long sleeved shirt, long pants, and Uggs.

TFW is looking a little bottom heavy and thick-ish. Must not be "running" anymore.

I'm not sure where the non-fans are coming up with the idea that the kids have no social interaction whatsoever, that they are isolated from their peers, that there is nothing in their lives but filming. True, they seem to be in front of the camera way too much, but these kids, and especially the twins, absolutely do have classmates and friends with whom they interact. It seems like they are living in a vacuum controlled by their mother and never see the outside world or other people, but that really isn't the case. Are any of the non-fans (haters) local, with kids in the same school? Does anyone know because I'm interesting in knowing where this is coming from.

But yes, Mady does love the attention of the camera and being a "star."

_____

Please tell me that her peers don't treat her as one.

The impression that they're isolated comes from all the fake interaction we see them engaged in---the deck party, where most of the people seemed like strangers; their birthday parties, where most of the people seemed like strangers; and the fact that there is nearly no mention of sports or other school activities. There was an episode last year showing kids playing instruments (first for that, except for early days with the twins getting piano lessons)---does that continue? Are they in the school band/orchestra? Or was that all just for the show, to give the appearance of "normality"? We rarely see them doing normal things with real people (you know, ones who are not required to sign CAs and releases), and I think that gives the impression that they're being raised in the hothouse. Of course, I don't care to see them interacting with anyone at all. But that would require them getting off TV and, as we know, that's out of the question.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Regardless whether they spend some of their time being normal teens, which I'm sure they do, in this day in age time is very precious for kids. Even a couple weekends of filming a month eats up precious time that could be better spent doing much more worthwhile activities.

In my view, there is no place for filming in a child's normal development. Not for a kid who goes to school full time. Most child actors go to accelerated schools or have tutors for a few hours a day. That leaves many more hours to play with. When kids are still running a parallel normal life with regular school and regular hours, filming suddenly is eating up what little hours are left. They have done a lot of filming this year, even though we haven't seen it yet. There's no place for it.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Fair enough. But here's the thing. If there is no mention of any of this, then it's assumed they have no social life, no activities and no friends. If Kate talks about their social life, shuffling the kids around to sports and whatever, then she's saying too much and it's an invasion of their privacy. I think in that respect, she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.

She should have pulled the plug on filming years ago and allowed these kids to have a normal life. What's sad is that this *is* their normal life. It's all they have ever known.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't agree she's damned either way. Simply saying the kids are at sports practice today, or a piano recital, or an overnight field trip, or a friend's house, does nothing to violate their privacy. If you start getting into specifics about who, when and where, that's probably too much detail no one needs to know.

Kate blabs so much about other private things, it is impossible to believe the reason she never mentions any of these normal activities is because she would hate to violate their privacy. Get real. The only logical conclusion is they really don't do a whole lot of that kind of thing. We have other pieces of evidence that suggest they are often home when most kids their age are out. We have plenty of evidence to suggest they don't have friends over at least when filming, with the rare exception of Marley, which is a very glaring contrast to the Little People family who always had other children their age coming and going. Always. Either that or they do these things but it doesn't interest Kate. Either scenario is sad.

Kate? Never. Ever. The entitlement is off the charts.
IIRC, when observing them in Mexico, on the beach, I could see people in those highly-desirable cabanas behind them shuffling around and packing up when Kate was filming. Their moment on the beach was RUINED because of Kate and her crew. No one wants a damn film crew when they are spending their precious, hard-earned THOUSANDS of dollars on a vacay on a gorgeous beach.
She's a pig and so is Steve. They've never given a crap about how their entitlement puts other people out. People, who by the way, are paying out of their own pockets.

IF the kids did have a normal social life, with 8 of them, there would be absolutely no time for filming stupid-ass trips to Target. Kate co-opts their free time, and her FIRST priority to keeping the 8 kids at home for filming.
What, just what, are the chances, that you have 8 children at home every damn weekend and holiday?
Slim to none when they have a NORMAL social life with friends, family, social activities, sports and things like Scouts etc.
I'm sure the kids have friends from school. No doubt. But, Kate will cut into their time to film, and she's done it, from my observation, the vast majority of their free time.

Kind of odd to be filming a shopping trip now. A month ago and I would have thought it was their annual school supply trip, but school started three weeks or more ago. Way too early to be filming Thanksgiving or Christmas activities. Maybe they are planning a big Halloween, but at least around here there isn't much Halloween stuff out yet.

Bringing over the Blue Apron discussion from the other thread. BA runs about $10 per plate. Singles and couples without kids at home are the target audience. It is the convenience of getting exactly the amount of ingredients you need that makes it worthwhile since there is a lot of waste when cooking only for one or two. With 8 people in the home Kate wouldn't run into that issue very much. Buying enough at the market to feed 8 is much more cost effective. I think Kate is just lazy and doesn't want to shop or do any prep work.

I tried but couldn't get a direct link because it is on Pinterest.

Google Tom Richmond Kate Gosselin and it will come up.

Someone posted that it was good but the only thing missing was the bull whip.

Wow! She does have TFW's number and more! It was a 2 question survey to get to read the article so I copied it here.

Kate's shocking lies, 'Kate Plus 8' obsession

Kate Gosselin's millionaire bf Jeff Prescott says he wasn't up for the "chaos" that was "Kate Plus 8", Gosselin's dishonesty, bizarre obsession

Why Jeff Prescott left Kate Gosselin.

Kate Gosselin was shown in a new, not so flattering light, by her ex Jeff Prescott. The former boyfriend told of how he dodged a bullet of shocking lies, weird machinations and desperate attention seeking from the mom of eight. Prescott explained why he ditched the drama that was "#Kate Plus 8" and never looked back.

The millionaire boyfriend's expose will leave your mouth gaping. It explains why Kate is so doggedly attached to her reality TV status and the bizarre lengths she was willing to go to in order to preserve it.

Ex paints obsessive, controlling Kate Gosselin.

Millionaire Jeff Prescott, 53, dated Kate Gosselin, 41, for nine months and all the time Kate insisted she was single. That lack of transparency was one of the things that scared Prescott off. He finally explained why he broke up with the reality show star.

Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that Prescott broke up with "Kate Plus 8" because Kate is so wed to her eponymous show. Her ex painted a picture of a woman driven by a lust for attention whose every act was determined by whether is was camera worthy or not.

Prescott said Gosselin would do anything for ratings, up to and including staging their first date and lying to fans. She maintained a sham single status despite the couple being so serious that they were house-hunting. That too was done for "Kate Plus 8."

Gosselin wanted to save the relationship reveal for audiences and manage it on air. She even masterminded a spinoff dedicated to she and Prescott. Well, Kate Gosselin bragged about all the free stuff she got from "Jon & Kate Plus 8" so is it any wonder she's clinging like mad to the new show?

Prescott wasn't ready to say "I do" to "Kate Plus 8".

The boyfriend pulled out when he realized he would always be competing with the show for Kate's affection. You'd think it would be Gosselin's eight children or even ex-husband Jon Gosselin that might get in the way. But no, Kate was happy to be rid of Jon and cheered when her daughters Mady and Cara publicly humiliated their dad.

It's not the kids, another man, nor even a human that Prescott needed to be jealous of with Kate. It was her love of the limelight. The Dreamstime.com founder found he wanted a relationship with a real woman, not a reality show character.

He walked away from Kate's "chaos" and into the arms of a lower maintenance, albeit younger woman Jenna Sabacheuskaya. He doesn't sound like he regrets quitting Gosselin one bit.

Wow, what confirmation of a pathological liar!

Knowing Kate, she would have filmed a proposal. I bet that was in her grand plan.

Lying about being "single" when she was dating Jeff; that's why I have never believed her denials about Steve.

I wonder if Kate's called Laverne & Shirley to file a lawsuit against Jeff, for the safety and welfare of the kids, of course.
I don't think Jeff leaves any question that they were dating and cooking up a storyline for her show. Even a spin-off.

Yeah, I think Kate is desperate at this point for a wedding or a baby. That's what's keeping the Duggars on TV ,and they've got fodder for decades to come. She's just got the same old, same old. She'd also prefer something that gave her more of the focus, but we know that holds little appeal for her audience.

I think a lot of people who have concerns about Gosselin kids have similar concerns about similar pressures and exploitation of child actors, child Olympians, and child beauty queens (hello, JonBenet!). I'm not sure what their point is. It's all concerning. Some aspects have better protections than others. For instance, California is a pretty good place to be if you're a child actor these days, which is one reason many productions flee the state. But I'm not sure why this person would make these assumptions.

I go to WalMart for bargains on paper goods, drugstore items and they have great garden and pet sections. Sometimes I see something in Clothing that catches my eye. Cotton

The comment wasn't about affordability it was weather or not she look appropriate. It had nothing to do with price. If you want to wear leggings out in public that are cute and if you have the figure, I suggest one good pair over a few pair of cheaply made one.

Oh, please Indie. I've been a REAL runner for YEARS and my gams would put Kate's to shame. As a woman, it's embarrassing to see her dressed in leggings with a shirt that only goes down to her waist. I mean, WHY?
I would ask this in 1998, let alone 2016!
I would never go out looking like that! But, then again, Kate seems to have this strange idea of what she should wear while filming.
This is the same woman who took her kids shoe shopping in a mini skirt and backless top.
She's a fashion don't.
And OMG, the print on those pants!
With all her money, Kate needs to hire a dresser

Well, I realize you live somewhere near to Kate, but athletic leggings are very much on trend. You have the right to your opinion. And if you really DO have a body of a runner and wear pants like Kate, you would know that a good pair fits nicely and paired with flips, or sneakers and a hoodie or cute shirt is considered fashionable. There is not one thing wrong with what she is wearing in this photo. I sense a lot of jealousy from some of you who can't wear this look, as well as not realizing it is on tread and the usual let's pile on Kate for everything. Whatever. I want her pants.

Wonder what that particular Target gets for allowing TFW to film there.

It seems like nobody else can derive any kind of business benefit from letting TFW film at their establishment. Upscale places don't want to have anything to do with her, and places with lower market-positioning than Target have no use for her. Dollar General doesn't need spokesmen to get people into the stores.

As a business partner, TFW is unreliable. She has no ability to sell anything. One has no idea when or where new episodes will play. That local Target must love the possibility that footage of TFW shopping there may play in Poland first before hitting the airwaves in the US.

I'm so sorry that you have such difficulties. You're right-Kate is always complaining about something and never seems satisfied.

She has managed to built her Jenga tower of a "career", despite pulling out bottom pieces and putting them on the top. She's sacrificed stability and it won't last forever.

I don't know how much longer she has, but I don't see holding it together as the kids get older and things happen like Colin. Just that should have had this filming circus come to an end.
I'll be surprised if Kate and TLC can float the notion that it's still somehow fun to watch her family when one 12-year old has been placed in a program outside the home and has been away for God knows how long, half her kids hate their father, and of course, she hates their father, too.
I think it's cringe-worthy and don't understand how anyone feels like they don't need a shower after watching.

Tucker's Mom said...

Indie, all I said was that leggings should go along with a tunic top when out and about. At some point, most of us women learn to check ourselves before we walk out the door. That is a far better look and at some point, Kate should dress her age. That doesn't mean wearing a house coat, rather, look a bit pulled together with a bit of sophistication.
Kate never fails to miss the mark there. She seems to have no sense of style or even know who she is.
There's simple, smart and chic, then there's Kate.

I do know that Athleisure is on trend, but it doesn't have to look sloppy. Leggings, a belted tunic and ankle boot or flats would look smart when out running errands.
Sure, I know she's a busy mom just out shopping, but the thing is, she's not. She, along with her kids, are working.

Is "on trend" a phrase popular in some areas of the country? Never heard it.
-----------------
On trend is a British phrase, often used in the Daily Mail. They have their own style of writing, for sure! Here's a sample I pulled up at random:

"Marnie Simpson flaunts her svelte figure in a clingy velvet bodysuit as she unveils new red hair... while buff boyfriend Lewis Bloor goes shirtless in social media snap"

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3810136/Marnie-Simpson-unveils-red-hair-boyfriend-Lewis-Bloor-goes-shirtless.html#ixzz4LTQWKmRt

Here's a sample of their writing involving Kate:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3767922/Kate-Gosselin-hands-fills-two-large-shopping-carts-Target-buying-supplies-eight-children.html

You'll see that they din't simply "wear" things, they "donned", "sported" and "opted for a stylish".

Writing that way is a special skill!

I'm surprised someone would mention Lululemon pants in a positive light. Three years ago they changed their pants fabric, and the new pants became see-through in a lot of situations. It was a huge story in Canada, because Lululemon is a big Canadian success story.

Her's a story about it:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/06/23/lululemon-still-suffering-from-sheer-pants-debacle-founder-in-warrior-pose/

So just because something is expensive or "on trend", that doesn't necessarily make it good!

Math Girl (#136), thanks for the Daily Mail links.

Another word for "wore" is "rocked," and it usually means the person wore something well.
As in, So-In-So rocked a little black dress at
the dinner party. I think Gladys has used "rocked" about TFW, but didn't quite get the meaning straight.

How about "on fleek" for eyebrows that are well-maintained? Silly expression IMO. And I dislike this new look of filling in brows so much that they look very fake and overly dark. There are whole kits dedicated to the brow I was noticing the other day in TJ Maxx with my daughter. Or maybe I'm too old to appreciate this fad!

I have to wonder how that went down with people who are struggling to get by and who pay their fair share of income tax.

Ha, for sure. I just thought it was really funny Goody used the same phrase, "That's just smart!" that Trump used last night. I wonder if she heard it and subconsciously repeated it. But that would be assuming Goody is civic-minded.

I did find that turn of conversation rather interesting though. No one was suggesting there was anything illegal going on with taxes. Only that someone was taking advantage of a lot of tax breaks. Okay. I'm trying to understand why that is wrong or we should resent it. Are we supposed to decline legal tax breaks, and donate to the IRS instead? Wouldn't it make more sense to take the breaks, and then reinvest the money, or give employees a raise, or donate to charity? And how rich are we supposed to be before we are expected to donate to the IRS? Can I take tax breaks, is that okay, or should I donate since I'm not poor? Because I take a lot, including a home office and my car. How rich do I have to be before I have to endure sneering for that? Another failed follow-up by good ole Lester.

No. She accused him of taking a lot of tax breaks, and he quipped, that's just smart. The outrage is misplaced. Don't shoot the messenger. If you don't like the tax breaks offered to people, then change the code. Don't ask them to NOT take them, that's just insanity. She has had decades in various offices to work to amend the tax code if she doesn't like all the tax breaks. Have at it.

I don't know how that played with lower income people, but I think most people are smart enough to realize Trump pays a lot of lower and middle class salaries, so when they get mad at the boss for making good financial decisions on his tax returns out of some kind of misplaced resentment, they might think about that coming back to them in the form of good wages or raises. As far as I'm concerned my boss should take every single tax break he can on our taxes. It comes back my way when we have good financial years.

It's not true the poor get stiffed in taxes. Another myth. I paid almost nothing in taxes when I made minimum wage. I kept almost everything.

I'm not making a judgment either way but her fans do seem to be centralized in the red states. I'm speculating that comes from more of a "leave us alone, butt out" mentality in that part of the country and that extends to Kate. People like to judge Kate and tell her what to do and that doesn't sit well with that population. Not that there's anything wrong with their view--in general, butting out is a good thing. The in-everyone's-business blue states don't have as much problem telling a mother how to parent her kids. Not that that's a bad thing either. There's merits to both views.

Legal and right are not one and the same. Why the hell should the average American be subsidizing the costs of services that everyone utilizes? I understand why people who believe in socialism, even though it's been an utter failure in countless countries, get upset at tax breaks for the rich. That makes sense, I guess, if you take away all the other variables like what they do with the money saved by the tax breaks. What I don't understand is why they would get upset at the people themselves taking the tax breaks. Why not be upset at government?? You know that thing Hillary has been a part of for most of her career. They're the ones who sanction the deductions and have done nothing to offer something different. Again, it's shooting the messenger. It would be like if someone set up a stand and said 50 cent hamburgers for everyone who makes over $80,000. You're going to get mad at the people who take the burgers (who, for all you know, walked down the street and gave his hamburger to someone hungry), or are you going to be upset at the person giving them out to the rich in the first place? Which makes more sense? And even if the rich refuses a burger, it does not mean a poor person gets the burger instead, so what is the point of refusing if it doesn't help the poor anyway?

Hillary played right into that outrage, and it was a cheap shot. Does Hillary not take all the tax breaks offered to her? Does she not also take deductions for her houses, cars, and home office? Does she refuse the deductions and give the money back to the IRS (who then gives it to the poor?? Huh??) Gimme a break, of course she takes all the deductions allowed to her and Trump should have called her on it.

There is nothing wrong with taking deductions even if it brings your tax liability to zero. Nothing. No one should feel guilty for one second about taking all the deductions legally allowed to them and no pandering and filibustering should change that.

If Hillary wants to win by playing "rich people are evil and take tax breaks that should go to the poor!" then go ahead, but it sure is cheap, not to mention misleading. Oh by the way, she's richer than sin herself, so the whole let's rag on the rich thing is downright laughable. Tell me voters are not this stupid.

You could come down with the vapors and need a quick fix.

On a serious note, talk about confusing the issue. Beach attire is one thing. She wasn't at the beach, she was at Target. That's like saying do you shower naked? Of course you do. It doesn't mean it's appropriate to go around naked in other aspects of your life. You wear beach attire at the beach. You don't walk around in a swimsuit at Target. No one is saying they want people to dress like Mormons. What was said, is you can see her butt crack.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

That is your opinion, not fact. Those of us who find something wrong with it have a different value system than you do.

&&&&

Obviously it's my opinion. But no one will answer the question. If I'm a rich person and get a big deduction for something, is it your view that the only morally correct thing to do is to pass on the deduction, and just pay the full amount, without the deduction?

If yes, do you believe that by not taking the deduction I am legally entitled to, the IRS will give that money back to the poor? (Hint: no, absolutely not.)

If yes, would it change your mind if, with the money I saved taking the deduction, I gave it to charity? And that without the deduction, I gave less to charity that year? What if I took the money I saved and gave you, my employee, a big raise? No raise if I don't take the deduction.

Just trying to understand this. Interesting.

Also, you're confusing the issue. I have the same value system as you. I just think you're blaming the wrong people for your outrage. I'm mad at the fire starter, not the fire. You can be mad at the fire all you like, but it doesn't mean I have bad values.

Without commenting on particular people, it's quite possible for people to take ILLEGAL tax breaks. For instance, if you have a business and write your anniversary dinner off as "business entertainment". Or claim a home office that doesn't fit the criteria for being claimed as a home office. Not every deduction reported to the tax authorities is verified or checked into. That's why they have crackdowns and investigations. Canada is in the midst of a crackdown on foreign tax havens where people swear they have given money to a foreign company, except it's really their money. They LIED, with the help of prominent accounting firms, to avoid tax.

If a very rich individual is paying very low or no taxes, it makes me think that either the tax rules are corrupt or the tax non-payers are corrupt. Or maybe both.

Admin seems to think it's always the system, NEVER the taxpayer who is at fault. I don't buy that.

The audit will uncover whether anything was illegal. In any case, again, Hillary wasn't talking about illegal problems. That is a separate issue, and that would be wrong. She was suggesting there was something wrong about a person taking a *legal* deduction. She was very clear, that there is something morally wrong about people who take legal deductions. The question is how did THAT play to all the people who do that, including me? (Not well)

That? I cannot wrap my mind around. If deductions upset you, fair enough, but why you would be upset at the person taking the *legal* deduction, and not the person who passed the law that may or may not be fundamentally unfair. Add to that all the myths about taxes (rich people pay nothing, poor people pay everything: outright false) and I was the one this time shouting "fact check this please!" It kind of amazes me she'd have the balls to go after taxes, with her shady made up 501c that funnels money directly to her and Bill, tax free. If taxes and money are a big campaign issue for you, you need to read Clinton Cash first.

Absolutely. But Hillary wasn't talking about illegal breaks. She thinks people should be outraged because if someone takes legal breaks it brings their liability to zero. She didn't dare imply there was something illegal about any of this, and in fact it IS legal, which is why her plan involves closing various LEGAL loopholes. She has no evidence at this point to dare suggest something is illegal about Trump's deductions, it was be libelous and she knows better.

IMO~ Hillary is not too concerned with the taxes D pays. She wants his returns to show his charitable donations, if any! Apparently Trumps foundation is funded by private and public funds. Trump has not donated any money to his foundation since 2006 and he has no problem using $10,000 of donated money to purchase a 6 foot portrait of himself. Trump had a golf tourney and 1 million to anyone that made a hole in one. Well one lucky guy did it! He did not get the million but he got a check for just over $100,000. Check was taken from his foundation funds! Trump says he has given away hundreds of millions to charity. Strange there is no record of where the money went. Perhaps Trumps tax returns will show exactly where the millions were donated. Apparently the IRS is now looking into the foundation funds.

I'm waiting for you to explain why it's morally acceptable to expect those of lesser means to subsidize the public services that you use.

&&&&

You are going from A to Z. I NEVER said that or even implied it.

All that was said is why blame people who take advantage of LEGAL tax breaks? Why not blame the government the very politician who threw out this accusation is a part of? That's like blaming a person for walking at a legal crosswalk when the government set it up in a dangerous place that shouldn't have one. Why on earth would you blame the pedestrian when an accident happens?

It's so interesting that you refuse to answer my question. How does a rich person refusing tax breaks help a poor person? If the only moral thing to do is pass on tax breaks, according to you, can you explain to me how that helps the situation? That doesn't make any sense at all. Have you looked at Trump's tax plan? It offers some incredible benefits to low income tax payers, including DOUBLING, yes, DOUBLING, the standard deduction. Deductions like for childcare are being cut if you're rich. The rich (and by the way, you only have to make 225k to be "rich" under his plan) will pay 33%. The poor will only pay 12%. Is there something unfair about that? It is a very pro-low income plan while still supporting the businesses that pay their paychecks, if people would care to look. Hillary has pretty similar tax brackets actually, but it should be noted that she has most lower income tax payers paying a LOT more than Trump's 12%, with most paying upwards of 25%. That is a LOT of money for most people making under 75k. Look at the actual tax brackets before concluding who is actually trying to help lower income people. For most richer people, the two of them have them pegged at the same tax rate!!! For the tiny percentage who make beyond that, Hillary does has them slightly higher.

The spin is amazing and that below the belt hit was pandering to the poor, pure and simple, and as cheap as it gets. Trump's only mistake was not pointing out, excuse me but I have most lower income people paying a LOT less taxes than you do, ma'am, and we're about the same for the rich. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people will never even look at the numbers they've proposed before drawing conclusions.

Jon was mocked relentlessly for wearing Ed Hardy T-shirts after the marriage ended.

I'm afraid that image is seared into the psyche of anyone following the saga at the time.
The tops were bade enough, but those jeans with the tiger faces on the buttocks were just a hoot!

And really, can anything a Presidential candidate implies be of another candidate be considered libel in a court of law? That sounds like the idea for a thesis paper.

&&&&

I don't know. I think campaigns are allowed to get pretty dirty and there is probably a lot more leeway for libelous statements than there would be in the normal course of business. It doesn't mean the statement isn't libelous, it just means it probably wouldn't survive a lawsuit.

But saying someone cheated on their taxes when they didn't, would be lying to your voters. There's a reason Hillary didn't even get close to saying that, and that is because, to her credit, she knows she has nothing to back it up. She's not about to say something like that without being sure. In that respect, she's smart. In another respect, Trump isn't so smart for not firing right back about her shady charity she uses to funnel tax free money back to herself. Unclean hands here. Why that wasn't brought up is beyond me. I think if the average supporter knew about that they would have a whole new view of the situation and who is really stiffing the public on taxes.

If Donald Trump is exempt from paying taxes, he should also be exempt from availing himself of police and fire services, public roads, etc.

Along with the 45% of Americans who do not pay Federal taxes.
Ugh, don't get me started on people who don't pay taxes AND get money from the government (which gets it money from me).

Half of that number pay no taxes because they don't make enough money to pay anything. In other words, the poor. Yes they're going to collect public assistance without paying any taxes because they don't have any money or much money to pay in the first place. That's why they take the assistance. I'm not opposed to exploring limits on public assistance and pay-back programs once you're on your feet, but I don't see a point in taxing them on money they don't have.

Far and away, the richest 20% of Americans pay the most taxes. Where this myth came from that the poor pay all our taxes and the rich pay nothing, I have no idea. Maybe from Hillary.

Blame your government if you don't like it. :) Not the poor not paying taxes, or the rich taking deductions either! :)

Where is the Uncle Sam IRS drop box? I'd like to not take my home office deduction this year, and donate the difference to the IRS. I'm sure they'll make great use of it.

And of course TFW filed for divorce, not Jon. She was not abandoned and left hopelessly alone to put food in 8 mouths. She. Dumped. Him.

The divorce also wasn't some natural disaster, like a flood or tornado, that left TFW widowed and homeless and bewildered and left to take care of her family by herself. She has a living, breathing ex-husband who is a willing and capable father. For the hundredth time, if she is all alone, she has only herself to blame.

“This has been extremely heartbreaking for Kate,” the source says, adding that she has rejected help from friends in an effort to keep the battle private. “She is really struggling.”

Kate is keeping people away so they don't know what's really going on. C'mon. Kate and only Kate controls the narrative.
What sane mother would reject help if it benefits the kids? That's just stupid and revisionist. Kate has kicked friends and family to the curb and all she has now are paid help and people with skin in the filming and fame game.
Struggling? I've seen a giddy Kate smiling like the cat who ate the canary in People magazine, and a 41-year old woman with 8 kids-one in a facility because his emotional problems are that bad-going GAGA over 2 puppies that she chose to throw into the works.
Please, child.
If you reject the help that the good Lord deemed to lay at your feet, you are a stubborn fool who would rather look like a martyr than help your children.
If Kate is trying to keep this private, it's to protect her show and ability to use her family for fame and money.

It's tempting to jump into the political discussion but I sincerely hope we just let it go. These are acrimonious times and it's nice to visit here and simply see Kate's exploitation the topic of discussion.

Why isn't it the demands of filming? The demands of being famous? Having a narcissistic mother? Being a victim of parental alienation? Or, something organic like autism and not really environmental at all?
*****
I think it is organic with a medical cause that's been evident since Colin was very little. The rest is "nurture" with the biggest problem being the HATE and animosity between his mother and father Colin has been witnessing and internalizing for years now.

_______

As Concerned Chick astutely pointed out on Twitter, putting it on the cover of People magazine doesn't look much like wanting to keep it private. She just doesn't want anybody to ask questions. It's the same old "it's not true unless you hear it from me" nonsense that she used to deflect criticism and queries right at the beginning of her ride to fame. It didn't work well then, and it's surely not going to work now.

I was trying to make the point (not so effectively!) that there are a lot of people who don't pay taxes, but benefit from the infrastructure etc. that the tax payers like me pay for.
It's impossible to make the argument that non-tax payers shouldn't use public amenities because it's not realistic.

Another day, another Kate post on Radar. What is going on? Things were so quiet there for awhile.
I also don't think the "insider" info made Kate look good. It made the situation look pitiful and way out of control.

Tucker's Mom (#196), can't you tell when a heartbroken mother of 12 (8 kids, 3 dogs, and a bird) is putting on a brave face for her brood?
Smiling through the tears? Putting glasses
on a pet in a desperate attempt to keep the pain
at bay, hoping her children's smiles will take
her mind off her sweet, troubled, faraway precious
boy for just a second?
