A reality star's daughter breaks her silence: I was 'exploited, 'powerless without a voice'

One reality T.V. kid steps into adulthood, and introspection: 'Excess debris created by a produced, manipulated, pseudo-reality universe.'

Says Real Housewives daughter Christie Staub in this chilling account (and big foreshadowing):
  • My mother's storyline was edited and produced, placing her in scenarios to achieve a desired outcome. She wouldn't normally be involved in these scenarios; they were dictated by the producers, and they just told my mom where to show up for filming. In season one, my mother didn't expect this to happen. These were the early days of reality shows. In 2006, The Hills was in its first season, and the Real Housewives franchise had yet to become a household name. Today, reality stars are savvy, but a decade ago, talent lacked a frame of reference. Other than Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, my mother had never seen a reality show. Just be myself, she thought. Little did she know that myself is how the producers choose to present you. Every story arc needs an antagonist and a protagonist—that is what creates the conflict and resolution, i.e. the drama.

  • Imagine if all of the arguments you've had in your life were filmed by a stranger, and they took out the worst things you said, edited it together, and then presented the footage on TV to define your character. Would you say that characterization was accurate? Anything that is produced, and edited in this manner, is fictitious by default, but unlike an actor, my mother didn't have the advantage of hiding behind a character, not to mention that the reality forms a perception that is impossible to overcome when the viewers aren't aware of what goes down behind the scenes. The producers had the power to manipulate my mother in anyway they pleased to increase ratings. When the second season ended, my mother decided to leave the show. The network portrayed her decision as her getting fired, but she left to save her life and her kids.

  • Even now, all these years later, people see me as a character created by a producer. They see me as the daughter of an infamous reality show prostitution whore. They may not have called me garbage like they called my mother, but that's how they made me feel. They took away my name and my voice. My name is Christine Staub, and I will no longer be the excess debris created by a produced, manipulated, pseudo-reality universe. I will never again be a character defined by unethical producers, and exploited by networks all over the world. I am no longer a child, powerless without a voice.

I agree the twins 16th will be filmed. If she can't swing a free filmed vacay for her birthday, she'll push for one for the twins. I absolutely believe a car will be the reward. Mady would be perfectly fine with filming learning to drive, but I think Cara would be embarrassed. She's so uncomfortable with the cameras. Maybe there's a stalemate going on with the Twitter silence for the past few weeks. Cara not participating would not please TLC.

@redbird (186) Now that you've brought that up,i was curious what everyone's opinion was when Kate's sister Kendra spoke out.So i decided to go to the old post admin made back in 2014 about Kendra speaking out.1 thing that stood out for me was how i didn't know Kendra's daughter has twitter but i looked it up and it seems she's not on anymore.Another thing is how Deanna spoke out and said the article was lying and that Kate misses Kendra but then there was another post where she said the family was looking for money.Which is it Deanna? Then the nasty story about Kendra's husband came out a day later after Kendra spoke out and there was speculation that Kate was behind it.If true,I wonder if the odd stories about Jeff being a murderer was Kate digging up dirt on him for rejecting the show.

Tucker's Mom said...

Historically, when anyone speaks out about Kate, even as benignly as Kendra did, there is blowback.
There is always a smear campaign mounted and they all boil down to these people needing "blood" money.
Kendra's interview was very sad, but no one seems to recognize the tragedy that is the fact that Kate has kicked out family and friends in droves.

Speaking of lovely sauces, I made this mushroom sauce and it was divine!
I used merlot, and seasoned the onions with s+p and the sugar instead of waiting until the end.
I'd use this for chicken, pork, beef, meatloaf.

I also just used button mushrooms.

Thanks Tucker, looks delicious. Just saved it to my recipe box at Epicurious. It'll be #322.

My heart bleeds when 2 sisters are estranged. I have lost both my sisters to death, and am so thankful we had a happy, healthy, mutually rewarding relationship
with each other. Saying goodbye is hard enough when the relationship is strong. Knowing we had wasted time holding grudges and feeling oppositional over anything would have been the absolute worst for me.
It seems that "the worst" for Kate is constructive
concern from her closest people re: the wellbeing of 8 innocent children. She doesn't even seem to see it as family break-up. She sees it as a business
no-brainer.

@Kateplusmy8 Rainy day here in NE PA so.. what better to do then to pop in my Gosselin dvd's... = happiness.. 😊👍🏻📺

Here's an idea. Volunteer to read to the elderly at a local care facility; help stock food banks for needy families; put together meals and deliver them in your neighborhood; collect clothing for kids who have nothing, which is what I am doing this afternoon.

Happiness is not watching episodes of Kate. Happiness is making lives easier for others, not just self-gratification.

fidosmommy (8), I am so sorry that you have lost your sisters. I cannot imagine how that would feel. When one of my sisters dies, it will change the fabric of who I am.

There are 5 of us. All 4 of my sisters are arriving in Texas on Friday. I am so excited sometimes I have to hold my breath from happiness.

We will have one giant slumber party for the whole time they are here. Hubby is moving next door into a friend's casita. He has volunteered to be our chauffeur because when the sisters are talking and laughing we are not safe drivers.

We are going to shop and eat dainty lunches and hefty Texas bbq dinners. We will take pictures and capture silly sister moments.

We have always been best friends and made the most of our time together. We are actually just outrageous!

Can you tell, I am excited and waiting for sister hugs.

Our last trip together was 3 years ago.

4th sister pretty much lives off the grid in Southern Indiana.

First 4 sisters are born in less than 7 years. We then combined our youthful efforts to "raise" the baby sister. (We also have two brothers that we like a lot!)

Our parents had some faults and we bonded over "survival" instead of taking it out on each other.

That early bonding has made wonderful adult relationships.

OK, I will stop now. Thanks for letting me share.

From Radar:

Nine months after the family’s reality show, 19 Kids And Counting, was canceled in disgrace following son Josh‘s molestation scandal, the Duggars are back with a full season of daughters Jill and Jessa‘s spinoff series, RadarOnline.com has learned.

According to Us Weekly, the young mothers, along with siblings Jana, Jinger, Joy Anna, John David, Josiah and Joseph, will all appear on Jill & Jessa: Counting On, which premieres on March 15.

Counting On is just a ruse to name a show that is essentially The Duggar Show.
What will be interesting is whether the parents will ever appear again. What about Anna? Her kids, which are Josh's kids? Josh?
Who's in and who's out?
I can easily see this causing fractures in this large family. The new mothers will be the stars, everyone else in the cast will depend upon the new families and baby cuteness to carry the show.
Let's see how long it takes for rifts to form.

The upshot is that if the new Duggar show is successful, Kate and her deja vu all over again filming might bite the dust.

Duggars try to justify starring in their own TV series by saying that they see it as a “family ministry.” In other words, the Duggars believe that appearing on television is okay as long as they promote their controversial religious views while doing so. This is one of the reasons why so many critics of the Duggars have a problem with any members of the family appearing on TV—they don’t think the Duggars should be given a platform to push a belief system that has proven to be harmful.

Daily Mail Online has exclusively learned that she is asking a judge to throw out the 2005 confidentiality agreement the two reached following her claims he drugged, then sexually assaulted her at his home in January 2004.

Constand, 42, wants it to be voided by a judge because she believes the disgraced comedian has abused the court system and is attempting to silence witnesses with knowledge of the alleged sexual abuse.

The latest move stems back to October, when Constand filed a federal lawsuit for $150,000 in damages accusing the former Montgomery County Pennsylvania District Attorney Bruce Castor of defamation.

I rememebr during DWTS it came up about Erin Andrew's and her peep hole stalker. I remember the comparisons drawn to Kate at her "problems" that she whined about, the burdens of eight kids and how she just couldn't keep up with the DWTS practices. Meanwhile Erin was going through something terrifying but had a stiff upper lip about it.

Anyway, it's in the middle of trial now, and it's coming out that Erin has depression and anxiety and is a changed person since this happened. Her dad testified and Erin testified today. Lots of articles about it, here's one:

I'm wondering about that. Unless you're really into sports and at that time specifically college football you might not have the first clue who she is. Also her name is generic. You might not assume Erin Andrews in room 412 is THEE Erin Andrews.

From what I've read, the stalker called up and requested a room next to Erin Andrews. So if you don't know who she is, is it reasonable the hotel just assumed he was a friend or relative trying to get rooms close to other parties? I mean, I've done that for group trips and no one questioned it.

Or maybe they were negligent, it will be interesting to see.

That's my line of thinking. How was the hotel to know this guy was an insane perv. Also, how did he saw a peep hole in the door and know one knew?

Maybe the lesson for hotels is if a guest makes a request as to another guest, you should confirm it with the second guest before accommodating them. We live in different times now.

I worked for many years in the hotel industry. What the hotel did is a big no-no. If you call a hotel and ask for a guest, the room number is never given. If you call and ask for "room 518", you must also have the name of the guest (ie. "Id like to speak to Erin Andrews in room 518").

Also, with Marriott being the largest chain in the world now, this is basic hotel operations. My understanding is that he called, asked what room she was in, then asked to be put in a room next to her. If that didn't raise red flags with the hotel, then something is very wrong with how they train their staff.

There are so many basic things that hotels do to protect privacy. Housekeepers parking their carts in front of the open doors to the rooms they are servicing is one. Another that you see in movies, but should never happen, is someone walking up and "claiming" the room as their own, if housekeeping is there. I'd is always required, and they have either a list or an iPod with guest info on it. Also, the front desk will never say your room number out loud when presenting you your key.

So many little things, but most upper class hotels utilize these methods every day. I think she has a pretty good argument.

fidosmommy said...

Do you suppose the Duggar kids still at home will be allowed to accept big ticket items from TLC? Things like a couple of Cadillac battery cars, something comparable to a pool slide, etc? Will the married Duggars still profess simple living for their own children? You know, drab clothes and home-made haircuts?* I guess someone will have to tell me. I won't be watching.

I'm relieved that's an industry no-no.

I do know that, having made several requests of a similar nature, above board, to various popular hotel chains, I've had very little resistence or hassle about it.

I think there is a definite incentive to just give the customer what they want no questions asked, instead of running the risk they feel offended or feel like their integrity is in question when you want to "check on that" and get back to them. I wonder if that is what happened here.

Tucker's Mom said...

A couple weeks ago, we checked into a hotel (national chain-there for a funeral-lots of family traveling to area) and were asked if we were X&Y Tucker's Mom. Uh, no, different family members with same name, but thanks for letting strangers know who's staying at the hotel!
My MIL did ask what room they were in, but she was told they couldn't give out that info, but the party hadn't arrived yet.
It was a bit TMI.
National chain hotels have really improved. Any mid-level has nice beds, linens and hot breakfasts. Spoiled Americans like me are sorely disappointed in Europe!

Alberta Girl said...

I think part of the problem with most hotel chains now, is the focus on making all guest stays personal, to create loyalty. Greeting guests by name, finding out their likes/dislikes, etc., to make "road warriors " who stay often, feel comfortable.

The chain I worked for even had the guest service department look at Facebook and Twitter of the guests to create a more personal stay. There is so much competition now with loyalty programs, that most hotels are concerned about achieving the greatest market share in their area.

I'm sure that 99.9% of guest info request are totally innocent and above board, but the unfortunate 0.1% can result in dangerous circumstances.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

&&&&

Yes exactly. You know what I'm wondering. I wonder if this is a cost benefit thing.

They know it could be dangerous, in rare cases, to give out whatever information the customer wants. But it's worth the risk to make 99% of costumers who have innocent requests happy by not acting like their requests need to be vetted or checked (and thus making a customer feel like they're getting the third degree.)

The odd bad thing that happens like with Erin Andrews is worth the cost of a lawsuit to make everyone else happy.

&&&&

Yep. I get it.

I can for sure though see someone who is very busy and just wants to make a quick phone call over lunch feeling otherwise.

Hypothetical. You just want to make sure your room is adjoining with your sister the maid of honor, who has a different last name than you. You're crunched for time. You call up the hotel, make the request and they tell you I'm sorry ma'am we're going to need to verify that's really your sister and then verify she too consents to your request. Can we get back to you in a day or two?

You can't check it off your wedding to do list yet because the hotel needs to vet your request. I can see how that would frustrate a customer who isn't thinking about Erin Andrews right now--they're thinking about wedding to do lists.

I just see how a hotel thinks that kind of protective policy is going to alienate customers more than it helps.

Never had a hotel give me that kind of checks and balances for similar requests. Never.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Sorry, but hotels shouldn't compromise safety to accommodate entitled people who think the world revolves around them. It really will not kill Little Miss Busy Bride to wait for confirmation of the request. If it's that big a deal to have adjoining rooms, book your rooms together.

^^^^^

And nobody said they SHOULD make such accommodations. Given what happened to Erin Andrews, obviously safety should come first.

What was said, is that many hotels are probably doing a cost benefit analysis on this issue. If it's too risky they're going to alienate customers by making them jump through a lot of "safety" hoops just to accomplish a simple request, they ain't gonna do it. They will risk an Erin Andrews incident in order not to upset the rest of their customers.

Again, the Ford Pinto analysis. Google it if you don't get the reference.

Inside Edition did a test to see if they could catch a hotel do the same thing as what happened to Erin Andrews. The female reporter checked in and then later the male reporter asked if she was checked in and they said yes. He asked what her room number was, they told him. He said he wanted the room next to hers. It wasn't available but got one I think only 2 doors away.

Another hotel told the male reporter the female reporter was checked in and they got him a room as close to her as possible and it was on the floor above hers.

Also, IE made note of Erin wearing her hair in a pony tail for the first 3 days of court. On the 4th day, she had it down. They said that Erin would scratch her neck and it looked red. Then her dad said that she was so stressed by what happened that she was breaking out.

I hope she wins her case. The video of her has hit over 300,000,000 views. SAD! So frustrating when the hotel defense team said that Miss Andrews is enjoying the notoriety from this. She was on DWTS, doing all kinds of things now.

This is like asking an assault victim what they were wearing and how they were wearing it when they were attacked. Like it was their fault. Shame.

She said stalker with an S. That is crazy. I believe it because I send her a FB message about finding money at the state because she was doing a story on it and this guy made some comments to her, but she told him what he said was inappropriate and told him to have a great day.

My word what they have to put up with.

Right. What will they do with that unearthed information? If they go to your Twitter account and find that you are posting that you find OurTime.com (or whatever the site is for finding a date over 50), a fabulous way to meet your perfect match, will they secure a nice, silver-haired escort for you to make your stay more enjoyable? I doubt that hotels are doing a cost benefit analysis on giving out information on guests and concluded that the small possibility of a very bad outcome is worth taking. If they did an analysis, I think it would come down on the side of NOT giving out information.

I suspect that the hotels that do give out information do it because they haven't thought about it at all, and don't have any policies at all, so the decision is left up to the person on the front-line. That person probably won't think about possible bad consequences, but is only interested in pleasing the guest in front of them.

It will be interesting to see if the hotel in the Andrews case had any privacy policy, and if the employee in question violated it. I suspect they didn't, or the case wouldn't have gotten this far.

How many hotels do you suppose have instituted a privacy policy since the Andrews suit was filed? I'd bet a lot!

Yipe.

You know, it's like that movie Catch Me if you Can. You sell the scam, you act the part, you walk in with your head held high and with confidence in your voice and doors open, even cockpit doors.

So much of life is just acting the part whether that really is your part or you're just pretending.

Hey, look at that 18 year old who recently got caught being an OBGYN. He looked and acted the part and he got through for a long time.

A lot of people have "I'm a fraud" syndrome. Where you feel like at any moment you will be found out to not be up to snuff (see, Tina Fey, who suffers from it big time.) These people need to not worry. What's funny is as long as you act the part it's highly unlikely you will ever be "found out"!

In any case, I don't care what hotel policies are, it's been proven how easy it is to get around them. After that ruined one woman's life, it's time that change. Poor Erin, I'm very sorry how much this affected her.

Just read an article about a male nurse who was on call but had went out to a bar and had drank 4 or 5 beers and had went home to go to bed. Then they called him to come in at 11:30 at night. The man went in, tried to sign in on the work computer, tried to get things set up in the OR to do an emergency appendix operation. One nurse asked him, Are you DRUNK?

NOBODY stopped him. He assisted while DRUNK in the OR and now has been arrested for DUI, (driving to work) and charges for being drunk at work. The patient was released from the hospital but now has had to be readmitted for stomach pains.

WHY didn't that nurse that asked him if he was drunk tell her boss? Call security? Awful.

Have you heard about this? A 97 yr. old woman in CA has been served with a 60 day eviction notice (she has a roommate) in a house that she has lived in for 66 years! She is a cancer survivor but it has returned. She had a verbal agreement of a life time estate but was paying the rent, splitting it with the RM at 900 dollars a month.

Rent for the house if she was to be thrown out, 3500 a month. The landlady gave her a life estate verbally. Then she died. Her daughter then inherited the house. Then the daughter died. Then her granddaughter inherited the house. She was going through a divorce with her husband and then she died!

The husband now wants the lady out because he is doing it for his sons. It is for sale for 1.2 million dollars. GoFundMe has raised over 39K for her.

A big law firm has taken her case pro-bono! He says he can enforce the verbal agreement. I hope she wins.

Lesson in this: Get it in writing and notarized!

And of course Kate doesn't want to go through an eBayer to get those Polly Pockets because she's sure she can underpay an unsuspecting drooling fan.

P.S. I'm glad her roof leaked.

Polly Pocket sets? Those kids are almost 12 years old. What in the world? My girls stopped playing with them when they were in first grade. I seem to remember that the recommended age was three years or so, and it was the Kindergarten kids who were fascinated with them.

So now that Kate wants something, she tweets. No surprise there and the sheep are just too darn stupid to see it.

What on earth would almost 12 year old girls want with Polly Pockets toys???? Amazon has some and they are very expensive, vintage and plastic. They start at around $65 and go up to almost $100. I think she is looking for freebies from her "fans", what is left of them.

Whatever happened to Calico Critters? They were obsessed with those, too and had to have sets, cottages, campers, garden houses, and whatever. Those things were really expensive, if I recall.

The fans will find Polly for her and then be over the moon giddy because they sent Kate birthday gifts for the girls. Kate's not dumb. She knows just had to play those tweeties and gets what she wants for free.

Wow! A multi-millionaire shamelessly gritting for vintage Polly Pocket sets. A word to the wise, get the money, to include shipping and handling, BEFORE sending anything to her. Weren't the PP toys geared to a younger demographic than 12 year olds? Three are quite a few on her most favorite of all shopping places, but those selling them on Amazon are asking for a higher $$ amount. I would also urge anyone planning to sell their PP sets to do their homework and find out what they're actually worth before giving them away to TFW.

I totally had a couple Polly Pockets. When I was seven. I distinctly remember how TEENY the pieces were.

It's common for adults with developmental delays to gravitate toward age inappropriate toys and interest.

It's not. But this is Kate.

I imagine the conversation with the fans will go like this. I have one I'm happy to let you have Kate, but I can't charge you for it, I love you and your kids!

Kate will feign resistance, oh I couldn't just let you give it to me for free please let me give you something for it!

To which the fan will say no no please it's my pleasure.

And then, she gets it for free.

She's sly, savvy, cunning, and knows exactly what she's doing. If she wanted to sincerely buy something she would google it and figure it out and not involve the fans.

Oh and yes, her girls are way too old for such a thing. Grow up.

Kate does.

Listen, this is why she is 12. She doesn't think ANYTHING through. A thought pops into her head and she runs with it, much like a 12 year old would. Even Jon has alluded to this, I forgot the exact words. But she doesn't seem to perceive the same consequences to things that someone like Jon and other normal folks do.

Virtually every reputable online buyer-seller exchange site, including Amazon, ebay, and the like, sternly warn everyone they should NOT, under any circumstances, engage in even the smallest of transactions on their own with either a buyer or seller.

Why? So many reasons, at the forefront being common freaking sense. It's not a church bulletin board for pity sake.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

To support our suspicion of grifting, TFW admitted that she knew the items were available on eBay.
Then why would should put the word out to her fans, who are known to jockey for attention? After essentially ignoring them for the better part of a month?

My judgment of TFW is based on a ton of evidence
which comes from her past behavior. Once she said, "Who am I to say no?" on national TV, she spoke volumes about her ethics and values. She wants something for nothing, or at least next to nothing. If a fan does say, oh, please don't pay me, TFW might send her a signed book for her trouble.

The idea behind Polly Pocket is you open it up and it's a whole little world. It's like her little house or garden or which ever one you get and you have little Pollys and other things and you play in the world.

That is a VERY little girl thing to do. Normal play for a four year old through maybe 8. Most 12 year olds have long lost interest in such a thing and would be mortified to even think of playing house with a toy like this.

Jeanne said...

Polly Pocket sets: Either Kate is still trying to convince us she has cute, young, little girls OR Kate has found a way to make more money with old Polly Pocket sets. Even if she only makes $50 she would do it. Get the fans to send the sets for free or a signed cookbook then sell for top price. If the girls truly loved them, they would be happy with almost complete sets, but Kate only wants full sets.

My memory is bad. Has she ever made a request like this for the boys?

NJGal51 said...

Why must they have the vintage expensive collectibles?

Because maybe TFW is obsessed with them and wants them. Nothing but the best for her. It's convenient that she's got daughters and can use their "wanting" them as a ruse to get what she wants. As Veruca Salt said "Don't care how I want it now!"

---------------

Thinking about the sociological implications of this. Could it be that the Gosselin girls are interested in Polly for exactly this reason...as an escape mechanism? In psychology, it would be sublimation. Channeling. Finding a safe place all their own.

They have their own private world where Polly lives, thus getting out from under Kate's control and the artificial world that she has created for them by putting them on display and subjecting to
public voyeurism.

Or am I reading too much into this? Something is really "off" when a 12-year-old plays with a toy such as this.

A dozen reasons. For starters, does the seller mail her the Polly Pocket first or does Kate pay first? Why would you mail off something without payment? And yet how does Kate know they will send it off if she pays? What if she pays but never gets her PP? What recourse does she have? The protection of a buyer-seller web site offers a safe transaction for both parties.

Never use Paypal for perfect strangers without the protection of a reputable site behind it such as ebay or amazon. That's just asking for it. NEVER.

Exactly.
The thing is, why would anyone talk about selling and buying when there's no formal avenue to do so. Such as Ebay.
To pluck some random stranger on Twitter and say, "let's make a financial transaction" is strange.
Any sane person would go to a site that has verification and protections in place.
How does Kate even know if she's requesting contact information from a minor?
Are adults allowed to solicit that from minors on the internet/social media?

But that wasn't your analogy. You said she is sly and cunning and yet does NOT think anything through. A fox is sly and cunning and thinks things through...I am hungry, I will chase this animal and then pounce and eat him. that's sly and cunning and thinking things through. PayPal does have a protection in place for non-eBay users. It's a resolution center and claims can be escalated where disputes will be investigated. I have had only one such problem and although it took some time, they did follow through.

As far as minors being solicited on the internet, why would Kate care about that? Remember when she ignored the contest rules? She never bothered checking into that and just did as she pleased. Those rules didn't apply to her.

Yes, and that's the thing. She kept them as toddlers for such a long time, the bibs, high chairs, divided plates. She tweets sayings that she thinks are cute, but are so childish. I believe that this is deliberate. She can't let them grow up. A normal 12-year-old girl doesn't play with Polly Pockets, or Lalaloopsies, or My Little Pony. They just don't. I remember age 12, back in the Stone Age. I was into those movie magazines, crushes on television stars, or new rock idols (a new one appeared every week or so). I think I gave up Barbies at age eight or so. I'm kind of fuzzy about that!

Math Girl said...

I had never heard of lalaloopsies (no granddaughters), so I looked them up. Wikipedia describes them as "plastic rag dolls", which seems like any oxymoron to me. Rag dolls are fabric, not plastic. Then I found this description "The Lalaloopsy Dolls were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their very last stitch was sewn." Seems to me like they magically turned to plastic, which is magic, but not of a very desirable sort.

To use a mos apt quote "I don't get it!"

PS I hadn't heard of Polly Pocket dolls either. They seem just as strange. They are meant to appeal to very young children, but are so small that those same children need adult help to change their clothes (per reviews).

fidosmommy said...

Someone upthread mentioned this, but how is it that all 3 tup girls (I'm assuming it's girls getting Polly Pockets) still get the same stuff, just in different colors? Does one kid say "oh, I'd like THAT toy!" and the other ones squeal in agreeance without looking any further? Just what is the format for this choosing?

I would think that by 12, one might like a $XX.00 iPod gift card, another a new pair of earrings and the other one a beading kit. Or something not just like the others.

Sue, my point is that there are far safer ways to buy what Kate wants than to go fishing on her Twitter account.
Those compacts are not hard to find on sites where buyer and seller have protections in place, and let's face it, those sheep are getting a signed copy of one of Kate's basement books, not money.
That's my bet anyway.
