Jon joins Rep. Murt in seeking to strengthen child labor laws

In a panel discussion last Thursday that included Jon Gosselin and Paul Petersen, Rep. Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) said child labor laws in Pennsylvania still need some work. Among the changes he will pursue are an independent advocate on set and background checks for all production.

“Who is looking after the kids” on these productions? Gosselin asked, adding that parents do not always have the best welfare of their kids at heart when money is involved. “I want an independent advocate to step in when the kid does not feel like filming” and the parents insist on it.

This sounds to me like some of his kids have made it clear to Jon that there are times when they don't want to film or they would like to stop it altogether, but are being pressured into by - well, who else but Kate. Dragging them onto the Today Show was clearly an example of how far she'll go to make her point, even though the stunt backfired on her.

And before the sheep start bleating that old bleat 'Jon did it too' they need to be reminded that Jon wanted out and got a royal shit-kicking by TLC when he finally managed to do just that. You can bet Kate has told those kids that if they want to keep the home and lifestyle they have now, they HAVE to keep filming and there is no other way to do it.

If there is an advocate to speak for the kids, at least they'll have a net to fall back on. As it stand now, it's Kate's way or the highway and it's probably the same in a lot of these reality show families. The parents push the kids to film and they have nowhere and no one to turn to for help.

Maybe the independent consultant would at least help with filming when the kids are sick. There seemed to be a lot of filming of sick kids in the original series. They should be able to puke in peace.

sayitisntso said...

Auntie Ann- Totally agree! Several of the kids appear to want to stop filming, with a couple of them fading away. In spite of the divorce, BOTH of them should have a say in filming their kids. I think it is fairly clear that Cara wants nothing to do with filming.

By the way, if Kate wants to film herself forever, no one cares. Just leave the kids out of it.

It's tweets like these that compel me to think it's time to take a break. Not amusing, doesn't even make sense. It's doubtful Kate is still "sling"ing them by the hair.

I agree. Not amusing, and very nasty. Not only that, I've noticed that is one who tweets things that are absolutely not true; in fact, lies.

"You have been divorced now for over 5 years. Isn't it about time to stop using Jon's name? I guess not because you have always used people and things that are beneficial to you, until you are not getting a benefit out of it and unceremoniously toss things into the garbage and kick people to the curb and out of your life."

Don't most divorced women keep their husband's last name, especially when they have children?

"Kate is the laughing stock of the organized world. Who waits till the night before & morning of Halloween to iron on lettering and getting costumes ready? Nobody I know, they all prepare weeks in advance. Gee, Kate your sooo organized!"

++++++++++++++++

Quite a few of my friends waited until Thursday to get the costumes and assortment of pieces needed to complete them. Many of the stores here had 75 percent off at that time. Why pay full price a week ago when you can get them so much cheaper and don't need them until Halloween?

From TMZ...

"Mama June is not going to get her full salary from TLC for the un-aired season, because TLC squarely put the blame on her for the show's cancellation.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... TLC's biggest concern is the welfare of Honey Boo Boo and the other kids and show execs are deeply concerned and upset that June has put them at risk by dating convicted child molester Mark McDaniel.

The network does not believe June deserves full payment, so they have deducted a significant amount from what she would have gotten if the show aired.

As for the kids ... we're told they will ALL be paid in full.

Ditto Sugar Bear, who will also get his due. And Uncle Poodle has already received his loot.

Our sources say TLC is hanging its hat on a morals clause in her contract -- and cavorting with the guy who molested one of her daughters ... well, it seems to qualify."

I thought that too. Maybe they are allowed to wear costumes at school, or are going to some sort of indoor event. Where I live they have trick or treating at the mall. We sometimes go just to see the costumes - we get minimal or no trick or treaters at our door.

Some of the costumes (like lego and magician) look like they would accommodate warm clothes under the costume, but others look like the only choice would be to put on a coat and cover the costume.

I though the Gs costumes were pretty good for indoor use, much better than those in previous years. Probably the kids themselves are much more involved than in the past.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't think a trained advocate would so much interrogate kids about whether they want to film but they should be skilled in child development and able to recognize the signs of something wrong. For instance any good child advocate would recognize Cara's negative body language lately. Whether it's because she's tired, upset or doesn't want to film, a good child advocate will intervene on her behalf. They are not just there for kids who don't want to film. They are there's for kids should SHOULDNT film even if they want to like a kid who is too tired or sick or has worked beyond the legal hours.

Does it have to be a trained child advocate or would TFW be able to hire Jamie or someone like her? An advocate in name only.

I watch the Duggars, and have to give them credit where credit is due. Not every Duggar likes to be on camera, in fact Janna, the oldest Duggar daughter is rarely seen on camera, as are a lot of the Duggar boys. I think Jimbob or Michelle said once that some of the kids don't like being on camera, so they don't force them. And they don't, if you watch this show, notice which kids are always asked questions, there are 18 kids at home(well 2 less now) and it is always the same 6-7 kids & mostly Michelle that talks to the camera. The rest once in a while.

I agree. It's unlikely he even sees the backlash from these three people. He has to have several people on staff who weed through all that.

He's already decided this is his issue. He's in a district that he has overwhelming support. It shouldn't worry him in the slightest some sheeple from the deep south or whatever thinks he's "associating" with the wrong sort. He also has his hands in many pots, it's doubtful even if he did want to read all the comments from the peanut gallery he would have time. Believe it or not this is not the only issue he cares about.

To me Murt is in a position that it would be great all politicians are in. He doesn't have to fear not being reelected, so he can work on whatever issues he truly cares about. I think one of the biggest problems with politics from the top down is that so many of them are just playing the votes game. It's frustrating. Agree or disagree with his bills, he has convinced me that he cares sincerely about Pennsylvania's growing population of children who work in the entertainment industry and that his motivations are pure.

The kids weren't under-dressed here. In fact, we opened our door to many little Elsa and Anna characters dressed only in their short-sleeved gowns. I wouldn't have wanted to let my kids outside without a lightweight jacket at 10:00, but at that time in the early evening, it was okay. Kate took the photo inside showing their costumes. Yes, Representative Murt really does care about kids in the entertainment industry. It's just not some politian (sic) spouting off with empty promises. He knows what he wants to do, and he gets the job done. For the life of me, I just don't understand why these sheeple wouldn't want laws put into place for these kids. He's not trying to outlaw filming so that they'd never see their precious Kate. He wants laws enacted for the benefit of ALL kids in the entertainment industry. Kate's tweeties just can't get that into their thick heads for some reason, and so they have to go after Jon. It makes no sense.

I think that after meeting Kevin and Jodi and finding out what went on during filming, he has come to care about the Gosselin kids, who may or may not want to film even if she says that they must do so. My concern is that if Kate is hell bent on filming these kids and new laws go down, she (and TLC) are just going to pick up and yank them off to another state that doesn't have child labor laws in place.

You know if I had to guess, I bet she still thinks Halloween is a useless holiday. A narcissist probably wouldn't like it much because everybody is awwing over the kids usually and not as much on the adults. If an adult tries to get too over the top it's usually so embarrassing they are ignored.

I bet the kids, like many kids, like Halloween and want to participate. And I really and truly think these kids walk all over her. Oh she would NEVER let on, but I think they are smart enough to know they have her over a barrel.

She is not about to risk upsetting them by telling them "NO HALLOWEEN" and then have them say sure fine then no filming, mommy dearest. Oh, they know it.

So she makes a half-assed last minute effort and lets it happen. At the end of the day I think she could be afraid of her own kids.

This is making me feel old too because I don't really get the whole Miranda thing either. But I don't begrudge the kiddos from liking what they like. She seems harmless enough. She seems like sort of the Mary Catherine Gallagher from my generation. By the way I don't like feeling old and not getting what the kids like! Gaa!

I really don't see anything wrong with the Miranda Sings costume or the fact that Mady likes her. She's a comedian. As a parent we may not like (or get) her humor but she appeals to the teens.

I'm with you. I had never heard of Miranda Sings until she was mentioned here so I googled haters back off and watched the first thing that came up which was her message to haters. I thought she was a kind of a hoot . I like her snark... "I was looking at your comments to figure out what you want me to doowa. You all are saying mean things" lol!

What I find funny is that all of Miranda's fans (Mirfandas apparently) were tweeting pictures of themselves or their friends if they went as Miranda for Halloween. None of them had to have their mommy tweet their picture. TFW thinks Mady will be noticed because she, the great and powerful Kate Gosselin tweeted it, but it probably just serves to make Mady look dopey to her friends.

Sue said...

If you ask me, Kate's haters have blown this whole Miranda thing out of proportion and as usual they're including her on all their tweets. Miranda would be right to say "Haters back off". They really don't know when to just drop it. I know that some of them read here and I really like to know whats the point?

Sorry. I don't always type what I mean. It makes sense in my head.

I meant that Paige was saying something awful about Kate by saying a kid was dressed as a pimp. Kate doesn't like that from her fans.

And I often don't know which kid is which. I last watched the show when they had the two one hour specials after the tups were born. I glanced at the Halloween picture but didn't figure out who was who. When Paige said it was Joel I assumed she was right.

Wow. What a difference a few years makes. Kate said awhile back that they didn't do Halloween for religious reasons, and now she has a child dressing as a gangster with a cigar, one with a gun, and a sex punk with a knife. Who would have guessed it?

&&&

----------------------------

I agree. I think as the kids get older and wiser (plus there are 8 of them), they are starting to rebel and challenge TFW's demands. Her threats of not being able to live in their current house or go to the same school may ring hollow to some of them. Now that they are getting older and wiser, they have TFW over the barrel with her filming demands. Younger kids learn from older kids and clearly M & C do not put up with her crap, as well as Collin, who clearly gets her hypocrisy and challenges her on it.

Her 8 count 'em 8 kids are going to make her life hell as she continues to coax them in to filming, and expect to see more resistance to TFW's ironclad rules - "I'm in charge and it's never going to change." Her desires over the kids' desires will at some point shift so dramatically that she will no longer be able to film. Or if they are forced to, they will make it so miserable for her that there will be very little film to show unless they film for endless hours.

I agree, the kids hold her over a barrel to some degree. And she is having/will have hell to pay for it. These kids can now think for themselves and she can no longer control their thoughts and feelings on filming. Look out TFW!

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing they don't do Halloween unless a crew is there to film it. I'm guessing interns or helpers did all the costuming. I find the Lego man and the unicorn a little young for 10 year olds. Then we go to the other end of the spectrum with a gangster. I hope the kids had some say in what they wore.

As for getting the kids mixed up? I don't know any of them except for A because he wears glasses. Why should I know them? I'm not interested in someone else's kids other than their privacy and safety.

I would guess the crew or Kate's helper got those costumes ready for filming. If she truly practiced what she used to preach, she would not celebrate Halloween. Bad enough the kids never got to believe the joy in Santa Claus. She certainly understood how to play the evangelical card.

Mady totally is in to pleasing her mother. She's been brainwashed to believe she is talented. Mady must be a handful in school with her dramatics.

Cara has always been quiet so it's no surprise as a teen she does not want to participate. This must be very vexing to Kate. Some used to say that Mady would be the first one to break ranks, but it's been Cara. Cara and Mady may be twins, but people need to remember they are fraternal and totally opposite in disposition. Good for her for refusing to be embarrassed by her mother.

Cara seems to be a fairly private person who doesn't like attention directed at her. She has activities that she enjoys herself and with small groups of her friends but withdraws when put into the spotlight.

The biggest issue with a personality like that is TFW's constant pushing her to be one of the performing monkeys is actively making her withdraw even more than she normally would. She is going to be avoiding normal activities out of fear that TFW will suddenly show up with a camera and broadcast her actions to the world. TFW needs to recognize that every child is an individual and nurture their separate talents. By lumping them in as nothing more than a piece of the Gosselin sideshow she is going to hurt those that want to do something different. There is nothing sadder than someone whose dreams are crushed in childhood and they are forced to follow their parent's plans for them even though they don't share the same interest.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about a child that wants to drop out of school. Parents have a responsibility to make sure their kids get a good foundation. I'm talking about the parent who makes their kid play football when they would rather be in the band or pressures their kid to work in the family business when they would rather do something creative.

It is TFW's dream to live on TV and be the center of attention. She is going to make those kids toe the line of her master plan, Cara is only the most obvious one who has different likes. I guarantee at least a couple of the others are oppressed too. They are going to look back on their childhoods and think "I wish I would have" rather than "I had so much fun".

That's cranking out a little more than one episode a week!
That is just nuts.

If the crew was available to take care of costumes, I am sure they did. As we know, TFW does as little as possible, UNLESS it involves HER on the show. But the kids are getting older, and want to function like "normal kids," and may be demanding to do so, so who knows.

Good point. I'm not one to get strung out about kids and toy weapons, but that was over the top. It was a semi automatic, and I hope it has the orange tip on it to show it was a toy for his own safety. Yes Kate guns are so so bad how dare someone legally protect their properly from a trespasser after asking them to please leave. But encourage a child that a semi automatic is all fun and games. There are numerous Army costumes for children that come with more appropriate props, like a radio or binoculars. She's an idiot.

Yes. Time is Kate's enemy. These kids are developing their own thoughts and feelings now. Not only do I bet they know most of her threats are empty (after all they know KATE wants the house too and the school and will do anything to make it happen even if the kids don't care), but I bet they reason that even if she did take those things away, they'd manage.

I wouldn't be surprised if a child like Cara thinks to herself, well if I lost my school and my house, I'd be okay anyway. Go ahead, take it.

I haven't read all the posts so please accept my apology if this was already discussed but....

When I first saw the pic of the Halloween picture, I thought it was from years ago because they looked smaller than they are today. But then when I looked closer at the picture, I could see that the reason they APPEARED smaller was Kate purposefully took the picture from an unusually higher position than a NORMAL mother taking pictures.

So I did assume that it was on purpose and with intent to display the kids to her fans so they would believe these 10 year olds were so much smaller and younger so she would get all the ooohs and aaaahs and cute comments as if they were toddlers.

Now I believe my assumption is true once I saw the picture Kate posted of Mady. Again she took the picture at such an unusually high position - higher than if she was just standing on the floor. And again I believe that Kate purposefully took the picture of Mady to try to make Mady appear younger and smaller than she actually is. Looking at the picture, Kate would have to be standing on a chair.

I don't know one mother or father who takes a picture of their child whether in costume or not at a position looking DOWN on their child in such an extreme angle. Especially if you want the full view of your child's costume!

Look at how they are all looking UP and not across at the picture taker (Kate). I don't think it is my assumption anymore. I see it as Kate deliberately taking pictures of her kids to deceive any fans especially new ones or returning ones from years ago to still believe her kids are little toddlers.

Does anyone else see what I am seeing? If already discussed, I am sorry for bringing up again.

Kate didn't really think this one through either. She's always thought she could keep the kids from growing up and discovering the real world so a twitter account was not an item included on the Golden Platter menu. It's okay that mommie can make a jackass of herself on it though, right?

I'm pretty sure the twins would really want to tweet their friends, at least Mady seems like she would so there must be some terrific arguments going on over that issue. Kate is going to have to make a decision either allow them to have one or get the hell off twitter herself.

Interesting theory. I noticed it right away, but I thought it was Kate just trying to be creative and also making an attempt at showing the entire costumes. If they are taken from above, looking down rather than straight ahead, that way you can see more of them without the ones in the front blocking the ones in the back.

---------------------------------------------
Yes that would make sense too. I hesitated to speculate on the picture taking at first. When you look at the one of the 6, Kate cuts off the costumes of the ones kneeling with that angle so if her intent was to show all the costumes it did not work. If she took it at a normal angle, all of the kids and costumes would show better. I see it as Kate's attempt to show her kids in costume but with the illusion that they are younger and smaller than reality. And we all know that REALITY in Kate's world is made up of smoke and mirrors and is nothing close to reality.

None of it is funny, and maybe the teens do find it amusing, but I don't understand why anyone older than a young teen would find this enjoyable. She's hardly someone I would want my child to become a fan of, but I guess different strokes for different folks! I may not quite find her funny but I don't mind her as a role model for girls for a woman who works hard, gets a good education, and goes out on her own at a young age. Whether that's comedy or the medical field or a teacher or whatever. Whatever is your passion.

But not only does Kate not get down to their level, she goes beyond her own level. Either Kate is standing on a chair or she is holding the camera up so much higher than her own level which is very strange and unusual for taking a picture of your kids. Apparently her scouring skills aren't so wonderful or she would have found the costume shop that last week was offering sixty dollars outfits for four dollars. I questioned the quality at that price, but thought...what the heck, for that price I'll give it a try. Oh, my gosh. They were gorgeous and had all the accessories with them. The kids will use them for dress up after Halloween. The costumes were much better than the ones that Kate came up with. I guess nobody could help her and she just didn't know where to look to find a good deal.

YouTubers are huge with the tweens and teenagers. HUGE. Every year they hold several conventions around the country called "Playlist Live" You purchase your ticket for the weekend and you go to their performances, there are meet and greets, dance parties and swim parties. I know this because my daughter went last year in Orlando. OMGosh, I've never seen so many teenagers in one place in my life. I asked my daughter if she had ever heard of her and she said 'yeah, she was at Playlist'. Said she didn't meet her but she can be pretty funny sometimes. So Kate may think she has her kids protected from social media but Mady obviously is very familiar with You-Tube. And as we all know there are lots & lots & lots of youtube videos of her, her mother, her father, her siblings, aunts/uncles and most are not flattering.

She'll put the twins on the cover of People and drag them onto live tv, but it's all about her agenda.

Yep. Narcissists tend to roll that way. She's all about keeping the sideshow going rather than protecting her kids.

If she thinks for one minute C and M aren't aware of the whole social media thing she's sadly mistaken. It's not as easy as it used to be when she thought she was doing her job by turning the tabloid covers backward at the grocery check-out.

AuntieAnn (#137), I agree that the twins are probably waaaay more
active online than Mommie Dearest can comprehend. Look at any
group of 2 or more teens walking together -- odds are, at least one
will have his/her head down looking at a phone screen, with the
others looking on. On the street, at the mall, on the bus -- it's no
longer a matter of telling a child they can't go on the internet at
So-And-So's house. It is EVERYWHERE. And even a control
freak like TFW cannot possibly monitor what their child is doing
every minute of the day.

And speaking of control...in 2 1/2 years, there will be 8 teenagers
in TFW's house. Some may be taller than she is, and some may
be stronger than she is. And many may be smarter than she is.
And that may be the day that karma train finally chugs into the

I think it depends on how you define "role model." If you're talking about getting out there and hustling, knowing exactly what you want to do and go for it...the whole work ethic thing, then yes. But I've watched some of the videos on You Tube and the content of what she does is hardly what I'd call a role model for my teenager. What it comes down to is poking fun at others in a way that's not really funny and sometimes very crude. It's kind of like saying that a professional bank robber is a role model because he has worked hard perfecting what he does -- knowing how to break into vaults, executing flawless escapes or whatever. However, being a career criminal isn't my idea of being a role model. Not a good analogy, I know, but I hope the idea is there.

Recap of Paul Peterson's trip to PA.
From Paul Peterson's Facebook

Pennsylvania, like the rest of the country, has important decisions to make on Election Day.

I had more reasons to journey to the Keystone state than to support Rep Tom Murt who had the courage and tenacity to push for child labor reform. Besides, Tom is running unopposed in his District and just watching him interact with his constituents, in restaurants, on the street and on the phone is a joy. He means well and does well.

I was also in the Commonwealth to both endorse and to thank Governor Corbett who is in a tough re-election fight. When the child labor bill stalled in Harrisburg it was Gov. Corbett who took up the challenge and got the Bill passed…a stronger Bill, a better Bill. The usual suspects blame Corbett for making reductions in education (false) and pruning the regulatory octopus (true) and ignore the annual deficit that, wonder of wonders, disappeared.

Here’s what I said about my endorsement of Gov. Corbett: “I was raised with family values, at home and with Donna Reed. Four principles guide me…Please, Thank You, Excuse Me, and I’m Sorry. I’m here to say Thank You to Governor Corbett for his support of children despite the powerful interests that didn’t want to do what is right for Kids because, they said, it would endanger production in Pennsylvania where “Jon & Kate + 8” came to America’s attention. Let me remind you of the current news. Anybody hear about “Honey Boo Boo” this week?”

Tom and I were in rural Pennsylvania for my endorsement. I had a hay bale for a podium, which was a first for me. But those farm folks understood my message…and Governor Corbett’s, too. I hope the voters in Pennsylvania have the sense to return a good man to the Governor’s post. If they do we’ll have a better chance at dealing with “Dance Moms.”

We also had a chance to make a well-received presentation at a local high school with Jon Gosselin on hand to speak honestly about his experience with “Jon & Kate.” It was an enlightening evening, believe me. Jon is not the man portrayed in the tabloid press. Yes, there were lots of mistakes, which is to be expected when an entire family starts out naïve and inexperienced and are at the mercy of profit-driven corporations. The lessons Jon learned, however, need to be shared with every family that is contemplating hooking up with a flagrantly artificial reality show.

Lastly, I had a chance to speak directly to two-dozen college kids in Tom’s district, students studying human services and theatrical production. This was a no-nonsense, fact-based lecture meant for a smart group of students eyeing careers that will involve children. I love speaking to college students. They’re smart, engaged, and there to learn. I don’t think they realized what they were in for. We covered the waterfront, from the federal exemption to child labor laws in entertainment to the abuse of young athletes, especially the young girls on our gymnastics team. No one left the room. Two hours was not enough.

Particularly telling was Tom’s frank explanation of the pressures brought to bear on him personally and legislatively by opponents of child labor law reform in the form of highly-paid lobbyists representing several elements of the Industry and other “back-door groups.” This was a real world lecture. I hope and pray these students remember what we tried to teach them. I think they will, especially if they talk with the 20 year-old female Romanian student who was present and who had trained to be on the Romanian Olympic team. She verified every word I spoke about the officially sanctioned abuse of athletes.

Now, if someone would just invite me to Georgia, the production home of Honey Boo Boo.

Since I no longer have teens in the house, I have never heard of Miranda Sings. Seems harmless but obviously Mady got wind of her someplace and Miranda Sings is probably popular with the girls her age at school.

What I dislike is Kate tweeting the picture of Mady and exclaiming how Mady sounds just like her. Another grifting attempt or putting Mady out there as talented? You bet. Shameful exploitation. Kudos to Cara for not being a part of Kate's scheming.

I noticed the picture distortion too, although with the tups I think it was an attempt to get them all in the picture with costumes showing. The picture of Mady was just weird.

I would guess that Steve has instructed Kate on how to block or track what the kids are reading on their iPads and iPhones. Computer spying is something Steve's company does. I think Cara and Mady do text their friends but Kate reads it all. I also believe she wants to make sure there is no contact with Jon. Remember in the infamous scene where Kate takes away Mady's phone? Cara was there on the sofa messing around with her phone too. Both were probably texting. But why was Mady picked on by Kate? Because it was set up.

This doesn't stop the kids from using their friends' phones which is what I would do if I were strictly spied on. There are also school computers, although I would assume certain sites are blocked. I have always believed Kate strictly limits their time with friends outside of school just to make sure they are not snooping around the Internet or contacting their dad. If you've raised teenagers, they are smart enough to find ways around a strict parent. In fact, they are more prone to rebel. Short of locking them up in the Konpound, it will be a losing battle for Kate.

8888888888888888888888888888

Yes, there is. Love and respect your children. That is universal.

Another universal law of morals and ethics is reciprocity. No where on the planet, in any culture, is it okay to be constantly taking and never contributing. I'm convinced the only people who think Kreider is a swell person are people who act the same way she does.

And that goes for her mothering skills as well. Society dictates ethics and morality and the majority of people can't stand her and disagree with her parenting methods. That tells you something.

I have to agree. There are basic tenants of parenting that should be followed. The basic manual is the same. Its many branches may be different. Some are fine and still good parenting choices. But some of those branches are bad choices, and the government has said so, as the government regulates many things about parenting. That includes laws about vaccinating your children, laws about sending them to school or proving appropriate homeschooling, and laws about their welfare. In fact the California code book I work with every day on parenting is huge.

The whole "let a parent parent as they see fit" argument the sheeple always make isn't based in the law or even common sense.

First, thanks for linking this!
Second, I'm sure that trying to reform child labor laws in PA has been like trying to push back the tide.
It's AMAZING that Peterson and Murt et. al. have accomplished what they have already, and I admire their stamina for wading back into the waters.
It must be daunting.
J+K+8 was perhaps PA's most broad and far-reaching advertising campaign, and to impinge upon Kate and TLC's desire to continue filming full throttle was mighty intrepid.
The laws need to be further restrictive to ensure that children have a impartial advocate during filming to ensure their well being physically, mentally and emotionally.
Parents making money hand over fist simply cannot claim objectivity.
To do so would be to deny being human, and I bet it was a slippery slope from the days when J+K actually did defer filming for the family and kids' sake, to filming during illness, duress and emotional breakdowns with no compunction whatsoever.

interest in helping children isn't some diversion while he waits for

Well, Kate's hot water heater broke. Another pity party and the sheeple want her to write another book:

Gladys is alive and well with her butt-kissing again, saying that the haters are bored because Kate lives a guilt-free life. Good lord.

Joy, I have been meaning to tell you something. Our friend won a charity auction item. It was to attend a taping of DWTS, plus hotel and all that. He was in the hotel and Rod Stewart got on the elevator. Our friend's a Brit too, a massive dude, and they had a conversation. All he took from it was that Rod is a tiny peanut and old and his wife is very young and tall. He said DWTS was fun to watch too! I thought, "I have to tell this person I don't even know about this!" I hope someday you can experience something similar!
