If memory serves me, the horses were not shown on the show, only the barn cat. I do remember reading that there were horses and Jon and Kate sold them. Don't know if keeping the horses was part of the deal but after closing, the property is yours to do as you wish.
The only positive thing I can say about Kate wanting to be such a public person regarding her life and the kids is that it puts her under scrutiny. If not, just think how horrible it could be behind closed doors because no one would know. I guess he doesn't know that it's perfectly normal and acceptable in the self-publishing amazon community to change your price. Not only that but it's ENCOURAGED by Amazon. When you self publish through kindle direct, they have an entire section of the web site that allows you to do "sale" campaigns and even free days. You don't get a refund just because an author later decides to run a free day. Little calendars and everything all set up for you.
It's irrelevant there is a price drop weeks later. When it came out, you were paying to get the book right then and there. Lots of things, most things drop in price but you pay a premium if you want it the day or week it comes out. Look at cameras, something I've been into lately. When a camera first comes out it's at its highest price. You are paying a premium to get the new model right then. If you wait a month or two, it will drop dramatically. I wait for that. That's how it works. If you don't like this than wait. Amazon does allow refunds for price drops but not from third party vendors, and the price drop must have occurred within a week of your purchase. That's reasonable.
As a self published author himself, I'm surprised he doesn't know this. Actually as a human being, I'm surprised he hasn't noticed this is a common and sound marketing strategy across the board for MANY products not just books.

Al is almost as bad as Kate in the revenge department. He can't stand that Robert's book has got more details and is selling better than his. He will do anything to hurt Robert rather than do his own research and produce a better book himself.
I think everyone who bought the book knew the $8.88 price was a dig at Kate. Nobody got screwed by the book going on sale for five days (there is a countdown timer showing when it goes back up to $8.88). It's never been about the money for Robert, it is about exposing Kate as a narcissistic person who is ruining those poor 8 kids lives in the hope that somehow things will get better for them.
Heck, the book is available for free to Prime members and those with Kindle Unlimited. Robert does get paid for those sales, but it isn't much. He wants as wide a distribution as possible.

Nope. Based on a wealth of public statements from her about the situation, including her giddy tweets and obsessive need to rub it in who decided they love mommy more than daddy, I don't think she even thinks this is a problem. It makes her happy in a sick way. I don't think she encourages a good relationship with him, I think she actively alienates him and rejoices when her alienation works on some of them. I think she interrupts their time with him unnecessarily and makes them feel like it's very difficult and nerve wracking for her when they go over there, burdening them with guilt and shame. Like I said the other day, it's incredibly selfish. SHE won't be the one on the therapist's coach in the decades to come with daddy issues. I have never once detected concern or heartbreak over their relationship with their parent. Not once. All I see is a woman tapping her fingertips together, pleased her work is done.

If putting a book on sale makes an author a shafter and a fraud, etc., then I guess this makes Stephen King one, too. I've purchased a number of his books on sale for $2.99 or $3.99. Guess what, Al -- the price went back up in a few days. I bought Al's book, and paid $9.99 for it. It was the biggest waste of space since TFMJG arrived on the scene. Every other word was an obscenity and it was poorly written, badly spelled and demonstrated a remarkable lack of proper grammar and punctuation. It was, at the time, and remains, the only book I ever completely deleted from my Kindle. I didn't see Al standing in line to refund me the money I wasted on his worthless piece of crap. What an a**hat! Robert's book has more "legs" than Al dreamed possible for his own book.
I was off-line for a few days, and I think I've finally caught up on all the posts. Looked at the twitter pix of Jon and kids. For the person who was seeing 5 tups in the pix -- the first glance I took of it, I saw 5 too. Then I looked more closely and I think what we saw was a reflection of one of the kids in that black car in front of them. However -- given the way the kids were following Jon, and that the little blonde girl with them must surely be one of Liz's daughters, I think it's safe to assume that there were several kids following the ones in the pix and that Liz was bringing up the rear. Sheeple -- that's the way REAL families, with a large number of kids past toddlerhood, walk when out in public. That way, they don't crowd everyone else off the pavement. I never saw anything here that proved that Hannah was the girl who didn't go to her daddy for the w/e. It could just as easily have been one of the twins who stayed at home with TFMJG and Collin. I believe Jon said, either on CT or in an interview around that time, that he hadn't seen Collin in 9 months. I certainly hope that's changed, but I doubt it. I can just see TFMJG letting a kid get all excited and wound up about spending some time with daddy and then, at the last minute, refusing to allow it as punishment for some minor or perceived infraction.

I used to post regularly on GWOP, until the admins there apparently decided I was persona non grata. I remember several discussions a couple of us had about Collin and some of the others and their behavior. A lot of red flags were raised with me, too, and from what I've read about behavior on recent TV appearances, they're still there.

She won't understand it or accept it, she marginalizes it and even lies and misrepresents the situation, and she improperly uses it to shape her image of a single mom doing it all on her own. She will and I believe already has caused long term damage. Serious damage. This is what parental alienation is and it has serious implications. We warned about this four years ago and here we are. I'm amazed some of the kids have still hung in there seeing him regularly despite Kate's attempts to destroy their relationship. Just speaks to what a loving and supportive father Jon must be.

Yes, oh, I know. This has happened to me many times. Anything I look up and I come here the ads for it are all over! I haven't bought the ebook yet. I really believe this kindle has opened a new world for me. There were 3 classic books already on it when I opened it up. Aesop's Tales, Pride and Prejudice, Treasure Island. I downloaded the Oxford dictionary. Wow. If the technology now was available for John Boy Walton! haha Word processor, computer laptop, fax machine. He had to borrow the Baldwin sister's daddy's old typewriter because the publisher wouldn't accept his manuscript in handwriting. Needed a fax machine to send his paperwork to register for college that first day or their would of been a 5 dollar late fee. Olivia found it and John drove it to him 26 miles away.

If neither parent has a full-time job, you can't pay $24,000 a year out of pocket for a private nurse, no matter how many gift cards you sell on ebay. That amount wouldn't even make a dent in the amount that you needed. Moreover, if they were receiving a check from Jon's dad, I would imagine that the money would go to their personal living expenses, plus home maintenance. We have no idea how large a check that was, but I don't imagine that it was big enough to support a family of ten.
Of course she didn't want to pay for the nurse. There's no dispute about that, but I really don't believe that they could have paid her salary on the minimal amount they were making that year.

That thing was absolutely disgusting. I didn't buy it. I read a portion of it somewhere, and knew right away that I wouldn't take the book if it were offered to me free of charge. I wouldn't have been able to read it because I would have been going through it sentence by sentence, making corrections to all of the mistakes! I can't imagine someone not being embarrassed by "publishing" such a mess (and then putting your own name on it)! But I guess what's sauce for the goose...

I wandered over to the BV Files link that someone posted. I don't have a clue as to what is going on there, or who the people are, or what has gone down so far. It just looks like one big convoluted mess. It was stated that BV was permanently banned from Twitter, and I don't know if this is true. My question is...does anyone here know what this is all about? This change in judges, the case against BV and some attorney, restraining orders, etc. Who is suing whom and for what? Is BV in big trouble? What about the sheeple? Does this have anything to do with the Gosselin/BV connection?

Rhythm - it is indeed convoluted (BV Files), but from what I can gather, this got started when McGibney got on the wrong side of some people - perhaps by accusing them of various acts and/or posting videos or other offensive things and making otherwise false claims.
However it began, a small group formed to ferret out the truth about McGibney and his partners. They have apparently gotten him banned from Twitter under several different names. Each time he tries a new name on Twitter and they find it, they report him and he's banned again.
The lawsuit is a suit apparently filed by McGibney in Texas against an individual. I believe he thought he could win by default, and that the man would not hire an attorney and respond. However, the defendant did hire an attorney and I think there is some law in Texas that if you file a nuisance suit against someone, you don't get to just dismiss it and walk away. So it sounds as if McGibney and his attorney are both facing some possible monetary sanctions due to this lawsuit. If so, that would be sweet karma coming around to bite McGibney and his irreputable attorney in the behinds.
Apparently this BV Files group (I don't know if it's just one person, two to three, or more), investigated McGibney's claimed background. They have pointed out that his resume is filled with half-truths, mis-statements and sometimes downright lies. They have dug into his partners and found some unsavory characters.
I read there from time to time, to see the latest status. I am impressed with their determination and focus, as I probably wouldn't have the ability to keep after McGibney. Overall, their investigation has exposed McGibney as an untrustworthy person, and probably someone with a personality disorder of some kind. He's definitely off.

I used to post on GWOP quite a bit, but it went from three moderators down to one, and that one moderator let her bias color the discussions allowed. I once used the term "maroon" (not to refer to another poster, but as in "what a maroon!" about something a sheeple said.) The mod corrected me and said it was spelled "moron" and she did not like that term to be used. I tried to explain that I was using it like Bugs Bunny, but she ignored me. After awhile, I just couldn't stand the way she ran the blog and stopped posting there. Which is why I am so appreciative of our Admin here - even if a viewpoint does not match her own, she will allow it, as long as we keep the conversation polite. Thank you!

I had to chuckle at the hater or haters who were tweeting our governor about Collin spending a day at the farm. Corbett has his hands full right now. For the 13th month in a row he has been voted the incumbent most likely to lose his job in November. He is badly trailing his opponent in popularity.
But I'm sure that Collin milking the cows will be at the top of his list for things that need to be addressed!
Admin - yes, Kate has done her darndest to eradicate Jon from the children's lives. It is so sad, and only time will tell if the children, once grown, will be able to create a strong and healthy relationship with their dad. Since Jon seems determined to stay in the area, and always available to his children if and when they call on him, I think there is a strong chance that he will be able to re-bond with any who are alienated from him now. He seems determined to be there when they are ready to contact him.
I'm a single parent. I have friends who are also single parents. Each of us have our own stories to tell, and ex's who, to varying degrees, chose not to participate in our children's lives. One friend's ex is an alcoholic and deadbeat who hardly ever paid child support. Another friend had to constantly try to figure out where her ex was working construction, and quickly provide that info to the D.A.'s office so she could get the occasional garnered check. Yet another had an abusive ex, and she willingly gave up child support just to get out of the marriage and protect her kids. So when I see a guy like Jon - not perfect, but overall a good person and a good dad - being purposely pushed out of his kids' lives, it upsets me.
How I would like to see this story "end," is with the kids grown or mostly grown, moved out of their mom's house and living with their dad or living away at college. I'd like to see them re-connected not only with Jon, but with Kevin and Jodi, with their cousins and other aunts and uncles, and surrounded by loving family members. I've got my fingers crossed for them!

There are so many things that I've thought Kate should get down on her knees and thank God that Jon was her husband, and is the children's father.
I, too, think that Jon realizes this is a marathon, not a sprint, and that the kids who aren't close to him right now will eventually figure out how vile it was of their mother to try to alienate him.
TFW is too short-sighted to realize that those DVD's she claims the
kids love to watch again and again will be concrete proof of the
type of hands-on dad they had. The one their mom kicked to
the curb. They'll also get to see their mom berate, criticize,
and marginalize their father again and again. And they'll see
her dismissive treatment of them -- from tossing their artwork,
to telling them not to breathe, to saying "You're not welcome"
when thanked for their beloved new dogs (one of whom has
disappeared from their lives forever). Not to mention the many
"-gates" we've dissected over the years - gum, cupcake, etc.
As many here have said, some of that footage will provide

Blowing In The Wind, I posted on GWOP (and here until recently) as readerlady. I don't know what happened. All of a sudden they stopped posting anything I wrote. They're still alive, on life support. I doubt they get 50 posts a month -- less, really. I check over there once in a while, but there's never anything interesting any more. And Polly's blog is dead. There hasn't been a post on it for well over a year. I sometimes think she just started it so she could get material for her book and once that was published she dropped it like a hot rock. Concern for the children, my Aunt Fanny! Re Al's book -- I managed to slog through about a third of it. I needed a long shower afterward, though and it set my "daughter of an English teacher" teeth on edge. Just disgusting!
Actually, when TFMJG petitioned for another year for the nurse, Jon was working full time (for the state) and she was, I think, still working part time at the dialysis clinic. I think Jon's father had died by then. IIRC, the tups were about 7 months old when he died. I don't know if they'd have been able to afford to pay for a full-time nurse, though. Civil servants don't make all that much money as a rule. However, I don't believe they should have the extra year and the state was correct to turn them down. I don't have a problem with the first year. Many premies qualify for Medicaid assistance that first year of life. It's based on gestational age at birth and even perfectly healthy premies are considered somewhat medically fragile for the first year or so of life.
lukebandit -- If you want a way to make online purchases and don't have a way to pay electronically, have someone get you one of those reloadable Mastercards. I use one for all my online purchases. They work just like a regular credit card. Your credit limit is what you decide to put on it, so it's a great way to limit your spending if you need to. Just check out the fees first, because they differ from card to card. The one I have has 2 options -- a $1.25 fee for each purchase, OR $10 a month flat rate. You just need to figure out how many purchases you'll be making a month and go from that to decide which option you want. You can change options any time, too.

I always personally liked Jon. He just wasn't mature and frankly, Kate sought him out because of his weaknesses. I still complain about him, like his stint on Couples Therapy, but at least he isn't nuts.

Just a brief comment. As I've said here before my daughter suffers greatly with borderline personality disorder. Do you work in the mental health field and what makes you say Kate has BPD?
I don't know. I can't understand these sheep. For some reason, they think that in order to discipline a child, it's necessary to spank and hit. Therefore, Kate's method of punishing is perfectly acceptable.

After the Today show debacle and her parental alienating tweets, it's beyond me that a psych eval hasn't been ordered.
Not to mention the fact that his kids aren't visiting him.

My daughter also has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, mixed. Based on the manic "tone" only, I'd say Kate has some manic days. We don't really see tweets when she could be very down. But borderline personality disorder, no I see no similarities whatsoever. Many people with BPD show extreme self-destructive tendencies, and not narcissism. Some use BPD as a catch-all phrase, even psychologists. Back when my daughter was diagnosed 12 years ago there were very few psychologists/psychiatrists handling BPD. The terms is often used incorrectly and is seen more often but not properly used.
I've moved away from thinking it's narcissism. Now I think she's a sociopath which as I understand it is called antisocial personality disorder by the DSM. She hits every single one of the seven factors the DSM describes. On the money.

I came to this site today to post the above link re kids in Reality TV especially since the Gosselins were mentioned.
Then I made the mistake of going up thread and found BitchyPants' comments and now I feel I need to say that when I first met and spoke to Polly on the telephone -- months before the announcement of Al's book ... in fact now that I think about it I don't know if Al had even thought about it at that time -- it was my personal opinion that Polly was just excited about all the "excitement" that came to her little corner of the world. Yes Al would tell her stories, she would tell me, but did she print all of them on her blog? No she did not and I did not mention them either.
Polly told me more than once that the blog started out as fun but because people hide behind their aliases they trashed her on various blogs. Nevertheless Polly kept her blog going and in time she thought about writing a book. In fact I am sure it was over a year after we became friends that writing a book came across her radar and that was when I was asked if I would, as a former fan, write something for her book.
I've said it before -- Al wrote about the stupidest story and Polly, with her educational background, saw the stupidest story from another POV so she wrote about the harm it was doing to the Gosselin kids in particular. You better believe that I was all for doing what was best for those kids, and if it meant helping getting a book out there letting the world know that reality tv is not a healthy environment especially for children, so be it.
Here we are years later and like the link above, harm has been done as was evidenced by all during the TODAY interview.
For the record Polly pretty much left her blog and yours truly was running it for the last few months, that is until I saw an episode of ACCESS HOLLYWOOD re Honey Boo Boo. Once I saw that history was repeating itself, and Billy Bush actually made a comment about how it was affecting the child, and knowing that I can't save all kids in reality TV, I stopped being the backup admin of her blog which has been "dead" for almost two years. Polly wrote the last story - the day when Kate was fired from Coupon Cabin which was the same day Senator Murt's bill went before the Governor.
Per Polly that was when she felt she had gone full circle -- keep in mind that she herself attended the hearings and now the "Gosselin Bill" was moving forward.
Did anyone on this blog attend the hearings??? I know she was there because she sent me photos, and since there appears to be a rule of thumb that only if there is photographic evidence then it is not true, right?
So BitchyPants, you have your version of what you think happen and I I know the truth. I have no intention of going round and round re this issue because your mind is made up but I will answer a question that I saw buried a few threads back:

On the show, you can see example after example. Kate looks like she's really trying to show affection toward her kids, but it's not genuine, and not felt to her core.
Jon's interaction, on the other hand, are heart felt and natural.
I'll start by saying that I definitely think TFW has some major psych issues and needs to be evaluated and treated. However, I think it would be a battle for Jon to convince a judge, who so far seems to side w/TFW on most issues, to order her to undergo a psych eval.
To an outsider I think TFW would present as a well spoken, rational person and the case would probably invlove a lot of research, time, hiring an expert, etc. I think he'd have to first show that the kids are being abused or neglected to get the courts to even consider stepping in. Thinking about how hard it often is to get family courts to step in even when there are in-your-face problems with drugs, alcohol, or mental illness, I just think w/o an incident having taken place where the kids were being neglected or harmed, that it would be difficult for Jon to get the judge to act.
I think Kate's unabashed alienation of Jon, in public, is a sure sign of psychopathy.
The number one example is her unnerving and chilling response on Regis and Kelly, now Kelly and Michael, when Anderson Cooper and Kelly asked her what she did with her free time when the kids were with Jon.
I think what you were seeing in her very unaware response was evidence of her illness.
Most mentally healthy individuals might think that, but would never, ever say it, let alone say it on national TV.
But, I truly think Kate had no idea how she sounded, like she had no idea why Jon was mad that she treated him like a dog in public.
Even when these abhorrent behaviors are pointed out to her, she barely understands her social transgression, if at all.
I do not work in the mental health field, just basing my guess on what I read. ITA she has psych issues so I really think she needs an eval, meds, therapy and Jon needs to make sure this happens. Yes, indeed, Admin, she sure could be a sociopath. Wish I did know. My daughter had issues as a teen but nothing on the scale of Kate. I am very concerned that Collin is made out to be a scapegoat and she may even be turning some of the kids against each other. The physical punishments could get worse. Frightening. Yes, she is more than a narcissist.

Honey Boo Boo's trailer was broken into?, wanted to move away from the train tracks and they wanted to move out but....guess what? TLC refused to let them. TLC would ok all improvements THERE, but a
BIG FAT NO to move to another home.
Let's face it, before the tups were even born, TFW was reaching out to the media. She also took the twins to a talent agency.
Jon had a government job and she wanted him to quit so he could be home more. (The four+ hour naps were a bother to her.) Jon quit his job, and she started traveling a lot - 2 weeks home, 2 weeks traveling was her ideal situation in her own words.) Never mind that if Jon opposed her travel with Steve- she did not change a single thing to secure the marriage.
Jon wants to stop filming, and they will "iron it out," - Divorce. Kate gets her own show and proceeds to film the crap out of the kids. The "If anyone wants to stop filming, we will stop," - out the window, and all BS. This woman has never made a secret that she loves the camera and wants to continue. But for some reason, she knows she is nothing without the kids, and continues filming them, and twittering about them.
She has disposed of pretty much everyone who dared to disagree with her, but the diabolical issue, is that she is still using her kids to keep her mug out there. Never mind her entitlement, never ending grifting, and how she uses her own children for fame.
Bottom line, there are 8 kids, who will go on to live life off tv, need their father and not to be used to keep their mother afloat. This woman has more than most, is never satisfied with anything, and her kids suffer as a result of this. How does one alienate pretty much every single person she has ever come in contact with? No family, no unpaid friends. But alienating the kids from Jon, their father - she has gone too far.Jon is not perfect, but as far as I know, he has a right to see his kids, and how all of this alienation with this kids came about has Kate written all over it. There is a place in hell for her. And years from now, these kids are going to resent her for this, if they don't already.

I was watching hoarders on Lifetime and for some reason they keep showing a fall season commercial for TLC. It's all happy and sweet, with cute little slow motion clips like Honey Boo Boo and her dog giving her a kiss and Bill and Jen hugging in the hospital. No Gosselins, and there were a lot of shows shown.
And all I could think was you know you can dress this up all pretty but there are problems here, serious problems, and TLC needs to start stepping up to the plate and taking some responsibility here.

Are we really armchair diagnosing these precious kids now? That seems a bit.....much. Let's not label them before they have a chance to grow up first. Everyone's so worried about them getting teased and bullied so I don't think labelling them with a psychiatric diagnosis is productive. Or right.

jillygee and JMO -- NOBODY called the kids a psych diagnosis. Pants On Fire and I both said that behavior we observed on the show raised red flags. Another poster said that one of the kids may have special needs. NO psych diagnosis. And BTW -- "special needs" doesn't necessarily mean mental limitations. A child with special needs requires extra support in the classroom, for a variety of reasons, which can include vision problems, hearing loss, motor limitations like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, seizures, cognitive delays, attention deficit disorder, or behavioral issues.
