The ninth Gosselin child Carlos comes forward.

We always wondered what became of that blighted ovum.

Meet Carlos Gosselin.

Courtesy of Carlos Gosselin

A 20-something from Texas, this cool, happy guy has been minding his own business on Twitter for more than a year. He likes tacos (especially Torchy's in Austin, mmmm), sports (go Boise State!) and hip hop. In fact he's turned his love of music into a career, producing for up and coming local talent like Michael James Rojas. Many of his tweets come out of the studio where he can often be found, hard at work. How nice to see someone so young with work ethic.

Courtesy of Carlos Gosselin

Carlos apparently thought it was funny he happened to share the same last name as some celebrity D-lister named Kate (He's right, it is.). So, clearly as a joke, light-hearted Carlos tweeted this to Kate early this morning:

Oops.

Courtesy of Carlos Gosselin

The Gaping Maw of a Fame-hole did not get it.

Carlos immediately responded explaining that he was just joking around, but that Gosselin actually is his real birth name, it's French--as a firestorm of supporters swooped in to add their two cents. Carlos's supporters, that is. Only a few of Kate's fans bothered to try to explain away the misunderstanding. And apparently, Kate has successfully convinced the masses that Jon is dead, judging by this hysterical tweet from Carlos:

Baw-haha, Carlos! Throughout the day as support for him grew, the young, though quite grounded and wise Carlos continued to try to make light of the mix-up and defuse the situation

Kate still couldn't accept he really is a Gosselin, but managed to issue a non-apology kinda-sorta apology,

a few D-lister celebrity gossip sites picked up the story, and the saga goes on.

Rock on--er, rap on, Carlos Gosselin. Good luck in all your future endeavors and sorry for your unfortunate last name.

I love cookbooks and will buy one just to get one recipe that I like and I am the first to admit that. However cookbooks don't sell as we'll as they used to because of the Internet. It's so easy to look up what you want and have many variations to pick from. What I normally do is find one I like and then send it to myself in an email. I recently downloaded an app for my iPad called BigOven and its great! You can pick from over 250K recipes, add notes to them if you've changed something, create shopping lists, etc (and the pictures are great) . The app was free but you can upgrade (which I did because I hate Internet ads). My point is that no one really needs a little self published cookbook when you've got the Internet at your fingertips UNLESS you're buying one to support a cause or charity. I just bought a cookbook from a bulldog rescue organization and yes, I know what I'll be getting but the money is for a good cause.

I agree with Admin. I think Kate's cookbook will be one of those spiral bound cookbooks.

Here is the tweet from the woman about the book being published in the fall:

Kim Weiss ‏@kimmerieweiss 21 Feb
Conference call this morning with Kate Gosselin about her fall cookbook. Should be interesting!

Her is her website:

http://helpmewithmybook.com/index.htm

"On another blog, the first name of one of the photograpahers is stated. There is a photographer by that name who lives near Kate.

From her website:

I like to keep things simple, really. I understand what you want, because it’s what I’d want, too: the digital files. The freedom to print what you want, when you want. That’s why I offer just two straightforward, digital-inclusive packages. No separate session fees, no complicated pricing menus. Easy peasy.

My standard package is $500 and includes a 1-2 hour session, a custom USB drive of all (~20-25) of your digital images, as well as 4×6 print proofs for all your images. Newborn sessions are $650 and include everything listed for the standard, plus an additional 1-2 hours for the session and extra time to edit your images."

So if Kate's big surprise is the cookbook, it looks like she may going for self-publishing. But if it's coming out in the fall(as per the tweet), why would she be announcing it now?

KatyKat said...

Maybe it's just me, but I would never buy an E-Cookbook. That's something I want on my cookbook holder, full recipe and picture easily accessible. I don't want to have have to scroll/zoom, etc, while cooking.

The brother of a friend has self published several books and sold them on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. websites. He nets something like $8 a book.

How many customers would Kate really have? I hope she has a whole lot more than I think she does.

Mel said...

This doesn't make any sense. If the photographers signed NDA why did they tell sixymomm8 they were at Kate's taking photos?

It looks like the person told sixymomm8 that she was *going* to go to Kate's, not that she *did* go to Kate's.
I saw elsewhere that the person's tweet was expressing some unease about working with Kate.

Pa Dutch Mom said...

The kind that's typed on an old Underwood typewriter with the missing C and full of recipes like " ream of Mushroom Tuna Noodle asserole - submitted by Mrs. Emilia Lipshutz". I don't think Kate has anything to offer beyond that kind of cookery.

+++++++++++++++++++

LOL!! I have quite a few of them put out by churches in the area, and they really were typed on the old Underwood typewriter! I was looking for a recipe not too long ago for chicken and waffles, and I found one submitted by a person who has been dead for decades! Those books just kept being handed down. I doubt, though, Kate's book (if there is one) is going to be passed down through the generations! More likely it would be used on the bottom of the bird cage.

There's no market for that. It's surprising she hasn't learned after the demise of her last book that they can't give away at the dollar store.

Mel said...

I remember seeing a nicer than usual food photo a bit ago, also.
Now that this has come out, I was thinking that Kate had posted the photog's photo implying it to be her own.

As I recall, Kate didn't say anything about it being a photo taken by someone else. The implication being that all the other photos on her twitter were taken by her, so this one must have been, too.

But maybe the photog just styled it, and Kate took a photo of it too. Kind of like how bystanders take their own pics of what the real photog is doing at weddings.

Still misleading, IMO.

Kind of like her spelling/grammar. I wouldn't fuss about it at all, if she hadn't set herself up to be the expert in it.

This too. If she hadn't just had a fit about someone being misleading, I maybe wouldn't fuss about this as much.

Although it's unethical no matter how you look at it.
And Kate doesn't appear to be the queen of ethics.
Or authentic. TeeHee.

Auntie Ann - I've been thinking that Milo is a Kate alter ego myself - many have commented on how quickly Milo responds to every tweet of Kate's.

+++++++++++++++++++

The only problem with that theory is that if Kate is Milo, she's still tweeting at 11 p.m. when LOM shuts her down. I can't see Kate hanging on that long just to have a love-in with herself. She needs her sleep, don't you know? However, perhaps she has a skeleton staff on board for late night tweeting.

Dmasy said...

The BIG announcement isn't the cookbook itself.

It is what the title of the book would be. I gotta' know "Kate" is in the book's name.

AuntieAnn said...

Dmasy - I inherited a whole box of those kind of cookbooks when my MIL died. They are like a time capsule. The common ingredients in most seem to be Campbell's Cream of Mushroom or Tomato Soup, onions, and ground chuck, tuna and macaroni. I have to admit there are some tasty dessert recipes in them though, and all made from scratch.

FYI said...

After Kate tweeted that photo of the wrap, she also put the recipe on her website(Feb 21). She called it "Kate’s Healthy and Delicious Mediterranean Vege Wrap".

This was the recipe where she used "Taboulah salad". and couldn't even spell "tabouleh" correctly, nor did she even explain what it was.

Looking at other "recipes" on her site, she not only needs help in the photography department, she needs help with the writing.

Of course, for all we know, this whole thing about the cookbook may just be speculation and rumor. Guess we won't know for sure, until Kate makes her big announcement.

Kate tweeted that there's a sports event today and she has to bundle up. There is no way in this universe that she is going to sit outside today and watch a scrimmage. It's 38 degrees, with a windchill of 32, and it's cold. She might stand there and watch for a few minutes and then either sit in her car or run over to the mall. I don't sit outside in weather this cold and I'm an outdoor person. Kate is not.

The funny part of it is she says that very thing on The Stir blog intro of herself:
"My life's goal was to be a mom. So, I became a registered nurse in order to be able to provide for my future kids."

She's aware that that's what she should be doing, so what's the holdup? DO IT KATE!
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Scary. Of all the men and women I went to nursing school with and have worked with over the years, I have never heard anything close to the above as a reason to become a nurse. Only Kate could take a profession such as nursing and use it as a stepping stone to fame and fortune.

Go to nursing school to:

1. Gain access to medical knowledge, especially obstetrics.
2. Take a job on an L&D floor, with access to obstetricians.
3. Marry a doctor's son--Jon's father was a Doctor of Dentistry. Good enough, perks of money to fund fertility attempt costs and free dental care.
4. Manipulate her OB(s)using her medical knowledge as well as order fertility drugs off the Internet.
5. JACKPOT!! Twins AND Sextuplets!

We all know the rest. I personally breathe a sigh of relief that she has not attempted to go back to nursing as it would be a nightmare, example below.

"What's that you say Mrs. Smith? The baby is crowning? Did you know I gave birth to sextuplets? Hold on a minute while I finish talking to my agent. You feel like pushing? I've never known what it's like to have such one baby at a time."

She's too scatterbrained.

If this is true, I don't think Kate's cookbook will be too successful, based on her meals as seen on her website. None seem very appetizing.
As mentioned, most people get a friend's or relative's recipe for something they enjoyed, or use the net. I have many cookbooks and use my old Kate Aikens (Canadian!)for old stand-bys and cooking/baking times.Otherwise I use the internet if I need a new recipe.

Re candy issues/organic:

Admin, feel free to delete, but I came across a great website looking for organic Easter candy this year. This site offers candy for kids with all kinds of food requirements: vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, GMO-free, organic, Feingold stage 1 and 2 (had to look that up, that one was new to me), kosher, allergen free. It also lists all ingredients and if the candy is made on equipment that may be exposed to any allergens It even calls out products made in the USA.

https://www.naturalcandystore.com/index.php

I am in no way affiliated with the company or any of the candy manufacturers. just wanted to share because I was so excited finding a site that disclosed so much information about each and every product, no guesswork needed. So many kids have different needs/allergies now.

I don't think so either, but not because of the gs. Kate isn't that good at developing an entirely different persona and keeping it all straight. She'd mess up, slipping in and out of identities. The Milo person seems to be consistent with details, writing style, those darn rhymes. I don't think Kate has enough of an imagination to come up with stuff like that. She's just plain boring. Milo is annoying.

What does surprise me, however, is that nobody seems to know who she is. On other blogs, the sheeples' names, addresses, kids, employment history, etc., are all known and they are called by their "real" names. Milo, however, is a mystery. His/her gender hasn't even been proven. Why?

The cookbook. I seem to remember reading somewhere that someone was going to Kate's for a photo shoot for the cookbook and that they were really reluctant to do it. Was it on Twitter? If they let it spill that they were going, then it would have been before any non-disclosures were signed,

I'd bet Uncle Henry's farm that the surprise is the cookbook. Milo can breathe a sigh of relief that the big announcement isn't a new man in Kate's life, just some bean and cheese recipes.

She's trying to get hits on her website/twitter so she can ask for more "ad" money. That's pretty obvious.

A cookbook? Big deal, dime a dozen. We don't even order those anymore at work, people aren't interested with so much online now, unless it's something intended for a specific health condition (ex. diabetes).

Bottom line....who is going to buy her cookbook? Her "fan" base is low. What is it 6 people now. I say that about her fan base because of the low bookings for the ill fated Kate cruise and remember the poor sales of I Just Want You to Know book. Not only that, but she was going to publish a cookbook with Zondran (sp?) publisher and it didn't happen. Why would they not publish her book? They published her other books.

I buy cookbooks and love to cook everything from scratch. When browsing cookbooks at the bookstore, there are a ton to choose from which makes it hard to choose. There is nothing special about Kate's book, she's a Mom. Big deal. So am I. Those that followed J/K+8 know that Kate can't cook. Those that didn't follow the show, don't know who she is other than she's the non-dancer on DWTS.

If this is being self-published, then I predict Kate is going to lose money on the enterprise. Circling back, who is going to buy it?

I was thinking the same thing. There is no way on God's green earth that KK didn't copy the recipes. Her idea of ''creating'' a recipe would be something like copy a recipe and make it ''hers'' by changing a measurement from 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon!! It would be REALLY funny if KK's cookbook was forced to shut down due to plagiarism on the same day that Robert's book about her was re-released!

For anyone who hasn't heard the Nina Frye episode which features Milo as a caller, their are now podcasts of all of the shows. There are many shows about the Gosselins, and the podcasts document Nina's shift in opinion of Kate, from a supporter to a critic. The episode that Milo is on (as Fired Up For Kate) aired on 12/02/2010, around the 45 minute mark. I do think that she is the real McCoy--Kate wasn't on twitter at the time, and, I seriousy doubt Milo is one of Kate's identities. She just isn't that smart. Anyway, you can hear the admiration and protectiveness that has now grown into her stalker obsession. Nina Frye gave a forum to a lot of the players in the early Gosselin saga, including Baby Mama, Sageway and Polly Kahl.

You can find the podcasts by searching for "podcast Nina Frye" and finding the 12/02/2010. It was also available with streaming on toginet, but the podcasts are much better. The toginet had lots of crashes and had to start over from the beginning.

I don't think Milo is Kate, but I do think Milo is a man whose hots for Kate is just out of control. Something's gotta give. When "she" made her appearance on the radio show, he could have had anybody call in or disguise his voice as a woman's. Wow, Baby Mama was really something. Jumping in, cutting off Nina, bringing up topics. By the end of the show, she had herself as the co-host on all of the future shows. And, yes, Milo was on at around 27 minutes. She actually sounded kind of sane--like she was a supporter because it bugged her that Kate had so many detractors.

Quite possible, but why did this person wait until last night to come out with it, after Kate was teasing all day? Why not tweet this before now if she knew about it, therefore totally ruining the surprise...before Kate even teased about it?

Kate's sister, Clairissa, started a photography business about a year or so ago. So if Kate is still "close" to her family, why didn't she have her sister take the photos for her little cookbook? Hmmmmm

So Clairissa won't guess what she's getting for Christmas?

Non disclosure agreements don't necessarily tell you you have to keep secret you were even there or what you were doing there. It might just prohibit you from going to the press, or prohibit you from giving details about what you were doing or disclose photos or other material.

I think whatever she might be trying to publish will be a self-published item. Just the tweets with that person who assists self-publishers (although that person also appears to keep her foot in the "real" publishing world) and because actual publishers do not "tease" about upcoming books. They want the info out there so that interest picks up in anticipation and pre-orders, they don't want that info hidden. Those of you who follow Pioneer Woman and my favorite, Southern Plate's Christy Jordan, will see they've often refer to themselves as working on their next cookbook, food shoots, etc. They already have contracts.

That cookbook that was canceled was due to come out in November, 2009. It was actually set to be published under the Collins Living label, rather than Zondervan. Both are owned by Harper Collins. My guess would be that Kate is either self-publishing or is still trying to get someone to pick it up.

I was thinking that maybe the reason the person who knew the photogs didn't say anything was because at the time it wasn't a surprise.
The cookbook at the time was scheduled for some nebulous time in the future, the fall having been suggested.

I don't think Milo is Kate. Milo tweets personal things about herself and life, i.e., going out to dinner, disciplining the kids, neighbor's dog following her on walks, etc. I don't think Kate would go to the trouble to invent someone with a life and add little details like that and then try and keep track of what she said. She's too scatterbrained.

If by people you are referring to me you know I'm talking mostly tongue in cheek about Milo being Kate. I have no idea who Milo really is except that it is a mysterious entity who has latched on to Kate and won't let go. She COULD be a he, or a relative like an aunt or her mother or someone Kate pays to talk to her. And doI find it creepy and dangerous if Milo is simply an obsessed fan. I don't understand why Kate is stupid enough to tell Milo "I love you" unless she's knows who this person really is.

I don't put anything past Kate's deceptive personality. In her journal she seemed pretty pleased with herself to film an episode "faking Nana Janet's presence".

I think that the reason that Milo focuses on Kate's body is because Kate is so obsessed. Aren't those the kind of comments that she retweets? After people were posting some of her Tweets earlier on this thread, I went to twazzup to see. When you see her Tweets pasted here, they are amusing. When you see them in context with the conversation, she appears totally insane and obsessed. I can't help it....I feel sorry for her. I really hope that she is Kate's aunt who is being paid to Tweet. The Campbells bisque version of their tomato soup is pretty amazing. I have to admit I still will eat that. Other than that, not so much.

I read an article recently about how canned soup sales have dropped dramatically. People don't see them as that healthy anymore. There are also many other fresh soup options in the grocery store people are going for now. The campaign to get people to eat better is actually really hurting companies like Campbells that depend on canned goods. If you notice in the soup aisle, they have many other non-can options now. It's the same stuff, just in boxes or different containers. I think they hope if they can be in something other than a can people will feel better. They're also making higher quality more expensive soups, slow kettle versions or "whole meal" versions. Really interesting to watch what they do to try to get people buying again.

Speaking of soup, I read a tip last week to save the liquid from your corned beef and use it for a split pea soup base. I saved mine and since it wasn't too salty used it to make split pea soup today. Let me just say that it was a great tip! The soup was fantastic. No need for a ham bone because the corned beef liquid gave it just as good a flavor.

They do now. Most of those are pretty recently acquired. I remember Bolthouse Farms is a pretty recent purchase, they're the ones with the big food poisoning thing. I'm guessing most of that diversification is a direct result of soups caving. Good for them. The American way.

New stick? First thing I thought was that Kate finally was ready to pull her stick out but only to replace it with a new one.

I still am skeptical on what they did on vacation at Christmas. It was either a grifted trip OR could be something filmed. After her trip to the beach place last summer she did talk about it. This Xmas vacation, she didn't say much at all about it. So I still think there's a chance the surprise could be something filmed.

There was no way that Kate was outside watching a game today. I didn't read all of her tweets...seems like she's in twitter frenzy tonight. Did she say that she did? Sorry...I wasn't clear about that. I didn't say that she wasn't there. She most likely did take her to the game. She could very well have sat in her car for most of it. Sorry, but I don't believe that Kate, who hates the cold, stood outside to watch an entire game. You run outside to watch part of it, then back to the car to warm up. I've done it quite a few times. If she stood outside for an entire game, then good for her.

What did the "littles" do while she was at the game? I thought she does everything by herself with no nanny or sitter.

silimom said...

Admin, we've been cable free for a good year and I really don't miss it. We were paying about $150 a month before (we also had internet and phone with our plan) and now spend about 75. We were getting Netflix when we still had cable so we kept that and we added HuluPlus a couple months ago because the had a free trial. Between those and our Apple TV, there isn't usually anything that I want to see that I can't and if for some reason I can't find it on those three platforms, I look for it online and usually find it there.

Netflix runs us about $21 a month for 2 DVD and streaming. Hulu Plus runs us $7.99. So it's not without cost, but here the main reason we did it - there is just too much crap on television that we don't watch nor do we want to watch. We wanted to teach our kids to take responsibility for what they put in their brains, to make conscious choices about what they watch. And so far it's worked pretty well.

So I highly recommend ditching your cable. Financially it saves you 50% or more of what you're likely paying and it allows you to be a mindful viewer and to pass that behavior on to your kids.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't see where she claimed to stand outside the entire game. She just said she was there and hung out with some other mothers. She could have popped into the car to warm up in between quarters (lacrosse is quarters right?), who knows.

That said, no one in my blue collar farming town ran back to their cars to warm up. No one could afford the gas. You either didn't go, or you went and wore layers, brought some hot coffee, and sat there. The whole time. I get it, I guess she's trying to act like a martyr. There is so much else to criticize about this woman. :) Now that I'm an adult I feel bad for my family and friends sitting there to watch us, but they all did it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Sillimom that's great! I think we're gonna get there and soon. Especially when we mostly watch Netflix, Redbox and programs all available on hulu anyway. Sports is still a problem. I wish you could just subscribe to your teams. I have heard something like that but can't figure it out.

If HBO allows a separate service I think that might be it!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Oh what i Like about cable free is it gets rid of channel surfing. I think that's a real waste of time and you end up watching crap you shouldn't. I like the idea of deciding ahead of time this is what Im going to watch, this is how much time I will spend watching, and then after that the TV is off.

She was asking about Jen and the whole filming thing (Jen wants to film Friday as if it were the first day of school) and wanted to make sure that it was okay with me etc. She also wanted to make sure that I knew (hello?!)

This is a really old post that was actually talking about criticizing physical characteristics, but I think it says what I'm trying to say better. I flagged it in my inbox ages ago. Unfortunately, I don't know who this is. Their name was "Worth a Thought." Much like Worth I am not trying to tell others what to do. Just saying my opinion. So whoever you are, thank you and here it is again (relevant parts edited in)!

"There is plenty to criticize about Kate's horrible behavior, and it is quite fair to do so. I will even go along with the criticism of her many cosmetic procedures, as those have been paid for by her children, both in dollars and emotionally. IMO, totally relevant to the discussion. I realize that most of us who read or post here are outraged by this woman and the way she treats her vulnerable children, and it is naturally that some get carried away.
Discussion is always most effective when it sticks to the point. If thinking about Kate drives you nuts, consider punching a pillow, it gets the aggressions out and doesn't hurt anyone. Then post and give Kate some constructive advice, or call her out on her lies so that her children will know that they weren't the crazy ones. Bullying, after all, is what Kate does best. She's not high on my list of role models. My own suggestions for thought, based on my opinion, not an attempt to tell others what to do."

Kosher Easter candy?
___

Well, no. I was LOOKING for Easter candy and found the website, which offers seasonal as well as everyday candy.

And I have to say I thought Kate was lying on the show when she said there was organic fluff. It does exist, and I bought some, any guesses on what it will taste like??? I thought it might be a fun treat to have on hand.

And there is definitely a food revolution going on. More and more people are waking up to all the crap that goes into processed foods, the lies about so-called low-fat, diet foods and the rampant use of HFCS and drugs in livestock (80% of antibiotics used in the U.S. go into our FOOD sources, not for medical use for humans).

And I love, love, love reading the comments on yahoo "better eating" articles, which usually are advertisements for some processed foods (one suggested a low-cal treat of mixing diet soda with boxed caked mix and microwaving it, I wanted to hurl just reading it,. That is HEALTHY???). The commenters are so well-informed and snarky, ripping the "advice" to shreds and providing actual real smart substitutes, it makes my heart smile.

Basically, for all our "nutrition learning" what it comes down to is eating like they did 100 years ago. Fresh. Unprocessed. Unadulterated. Grow it yourself if you can. Cook it yourself food made in a kitchen, not a chem lab. Before big corporations got involved in the food supply.

It's not rocket science, it's a tomato. Eat it.

My gawd, everyone who comes in contact with Kate has to sign a NDA? I just don't know if I'd put myself in any legal jeopardy like that. I mean, Kate's got a stable of high-powered attorneys and I have, let me see... none.
It just seems like bullying to say, "hey, I have work for you but you'll have to sign a legal document first".
It's really no wonder that virtually nobody has come forward about their experiences.
I'm guessing Kevin and Jodi never signed a NDA. It's just a shame that no one else will back them up for the sake of the kids.

I actually don't get much out of "dumb things sheeple say" reposts here. Whatever, lots of people are dumb, what else is new. :) But when people are tweeting Kate directly and she is tweeting them back I think it's relevant. Surely they know that when they tweet Kate everyone can see if. If they don't want their conversation with Kate commented on, they can take it to email. As simple as that.

Hypothetically, if they decided to join this group I wouldn't ask people not to question or criticize them as long as it was done in a respectful manner.
Just because you call someone out doesn't mean that in and of itself is being "disrespectful." For instance I don't think saying "I think Milo is in love with Kate" is being disrespectful. It's just making an observation based on numerous over the top gushing tweets. But trashing Gypsi for goats and wearing her late husband's ring (personally, I think that's a nice way to remember that part of your life, I wouldn't expect any second husband to ask you to forget your first if he died, it's not like she's DIVORCED) isn't something I personally enjoy.

*********************************

It's not about whether you personally enjoy it or not. You just acknowledged that others are being trashed. If that is happening, it is a rule violation so why are you allowing it?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

The rule is no trash talking other blogs/bloggers. Twitter is not a blog. There is no rule saying don't trash talk twitter people. I don't like a lot of rules, usually I will just chime in with okay guys back off. Most people just talk about people who are tweeting Kate directly anyway which I don't care about, I don't find this problem so burdensome it needs its own rule.

If someone is trash talking someone for no reason by all means say something. I don't mean a general post, be specific. Most of us don't hesitate to speak up when we think someone's going too far, that's always how it's been.

I actually was going to say something about Gypsi's ring before but then forgot about it and since no one brought it up again why dredge it up?

Dmasy said...

I had an opinion about the Gypsi/ring comment, too. I understand her personal decision. I think there is actually a sweetness to choosing to wear that token.

I am married to a widower. We have been married almost 16 years. I never met his first wife. There are still some reminders of her in the home we share.

I never felt as if I should move in and erase her. If her memory isn't important, then mine wouldn't be either.

My husband is a wonderful man. She picked him first! I think I would have liked her. I owe her respect.

Death of a beloved spouse is so different than a divorce.

The rule is no trash talking other blogs/bloggers. Twitter is not a blog. There is no rule saying don't trash talk twitter people.

********************************************

A meaningless semantic distinction. Logically, why is acceptable to trash those who Tweet but not acceptable to trash those who post on blogs?
(I expect the answer to be "my blog, my rules" since you know darn well there is no logic to it and can't defend it.)

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

One of the big reasons there is a no trashing other blogs is to avoid blog wars or blog on blog. I've never really seen a Twitter versus Blog war. Twitter really isn't set up like that to allow for such a thing. It doesn't have a "meeting place" which every good blog war needs. :) I find blog versus blogs to be completely ridiculous and unproductive which is why I won't let us turn into a blog that talks about other blogs.

The distinctions are fine lines and I see how some people see Twitter and blogs as the same exact things so I'm not going to try to say they are all that different. I do think blogs are more like playgrounds and twitter is more like a public forum. But, both are out in the open for anyone to see, true enough.

The bottom line is, I don't see this as such a big problem as to warrant a rule five. Even just going through this posts I only see a few posts mentioning people's tweets on twitter who haven't tweeted it to Kate directly (again, tweets to Kate directly are fair game, I'm not going to make those off limits, so if we're quibbling over that, that decision is over with and that's not going to change anytime soon).

I think a better way to deal with it as just as I suggested, that you call out people individually, in a respectful manner, if you think they've gone too far. Seems that would be just as effective than a separate rule. By all means, call out away!

&&&

It is, yes.

I don't think you should have shrines to your late husband all over the house once you remarry but I see no problem with keeping a token from that period of your life. If your new husband loves you, he loves all of you, and part of what made you who you are is your experience with your first husband and his death.

I don't know if Gypsi has children from that marriage, I assume not, but even someone who is divorced I wouldn't expect them to erase all evidence of their ex from the home. Some people want to and that's fine, but I wouldn't think it was weird at all to keep things from that marriage around for the sake of the kids. I wouldn't want kids to feel like you regretted that time or that you've forgotten that time. It might make them feel like you resent them or regret them. :(

I'm a big believer in the past makes who are you. People keep mementos from everything else in their past, from a favorite childhood toy to photographs to degrees to awards. Seems odd we don't want people to keep a memento of a relationship that ended in tragedy.

Kate - Google is your friend and much quicker than waiting for a reply form your sheeple on twitter! Imagine this, Google will bring up your local Lowes. The Lowes website will tell you if they have what you want in stock AND allow you to purchase it online. A Lowes employee will then pull it off the shelf and have it waiting in customer service for you. You run in, give them your name, grab your already paid for product and you're out the door in a couple of minutes. Can do Kate you're not!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Oh my God. She hasn't cleaned it out in FIVE YEARS??? At a certain point her stupidity is going to catch up.

Let me tell you about our dryer fire. The laundry room was a separate room at the back of the house, sort of like a mud room. You had to walk outside to get there. There was no smoke detector in that room and even if there were I doubt I would have heard it.

I realized there was a fire when smoke started coming into my place from the windows. When I ran out to look the whole laundry room was ablaze. The laundry had only been in there maybe 8 minutes. Our neighbor tried to put it out with our hose but I got scared it could flare and he could get hurt and pulled him back (to which my landlord later scolded me for--jerk, you caused the fire in the first place.) The firemen were there in about two minutes, they were great. Send the whole brigade. They had to poke holes in wall to make sure the flames weren't in there. Thousands of dollars in damage.

Down The Shore, 162. First, I have to smile at the picture of my burly farmer husband wearing a gold chain. He doesn't even wear a wedding ring or a watch.

Second, I need to generalize your question into any constant and visible reminder of his first wife. And, I don't know the answer.

I think my reaction would be based on the context of how he "manages" her memory. I trust that he would never make a choice that would be painful to me.

It is not always easy to share space with someone who is neither a ghost or a guest in your home. In the beginning of our marriage, I had to take some deep breaths and do some internal talking.

Some of her cookbooks are still here. Her penciled notations are in the margins. The first time I saw her handwriting, I realized how unpredictable life can be. She was gone and I was searching through her recipes.

I mark the anniversary of her sudden death on my calendar. I know that hubby will think of what day it is and I don't want to forget. (You know, that would not be such a good day to be a shrewish wife!)

Your question is a complex one. There just isn't an every day answer.

Interesting discussion. My husband passed away and I have not remarried. I wear a diamond heart necklace that he gave me on the last Christmas before he died. If I remarried, I would take into consideration the feelings of my husband. If he had a problem with my wearing it, I would not do so out of respect for him. A piece of jewelry as a "memorial" to my late husband is not a necessary tribute to him. Memories would always be in my heart. My present husband would, of course, come first, and I'd be very respectful of his feelings about it.

This report from 2012 should scare the crap out of her:

Failure to clean (34 percent) was the leading factor contributing to the ignition of clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.

An estimated 2,900 clothes dryer fires are reported, in residential buildings, to the U.S. fire departments each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss.

Dust, fiber, and lint (28 percent) and clothing not on a person (27 percent) were, by far, the leading items first ignited in clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.

77% of all dryer fires occur in one or two family homes. In a private home there are no enforceable codes that deal with the safe operation of dryers.

Joy in Virginia, regarding Doc Martin, give it some time and definitely start watching from the beginning. It will help you understand why he is there to start with. The quirky people grow on you, hopefully, and there are so many subtle things that go on in the background. Excellent comedy and good drama as well.

Oh, even YouTube has videos how to clean out the vent ( does she ever use Google?) and you can buy a brush kit at Home Depot, Idiot Kate! Is she that stupid or is she grifting? She wants to live in that big house she better learn about maintenance.
