Usually when someone asks her about a silly rumor she will say something coy like oh my as if! While that's not really answering it either, this response is different than what she's said before. This time she wants to know what people think. I think that's really significant.
She is obsessed with FUN. Kate is almost 40 years old and has 8 children. She is still measuring the value of any day by how much FUN she had.
A dating show would be FUN. She does not consider how it would impact her children's lives or what kind of man would be attracted to such a superficial TV show.

Any man who is willing to date you on a reality show should probably be crossed off your list. The fact that Kate would even act for one second like this is a serious way to find not just a partner for you but someone who is going to help you raise your children, is deeply disturbing.
When I was pregnant, I participated in aerobic dance classes until the day before I delivered. I was in excellent shape, had been dancing for years and had my doctor's blessing. However, as my due date neared, I wouldn't attend sports in an arena because I was too nervous about being jostled around in the crowd and not able to leave quickly if necessary.
For the same reason, I wouldn't take an infant to a crowded movie premiere. I was a burn nurse, so in addition to worrying about being shoved around, I think about being able to escape safely in case of a fire or other emergency. While the chance of a shooting rampage at a movie theater may be remote, that isn't the only emergency that can happen in a theater. The premiere showing had to have been extremely crowded with a high level of excitement--not an appropriate place for an infant. The last time I was at a movie, I realized that our row had only one aisle at one end--the other end went right up to the wall. It wasn't crowded, so we were able to sit by the aisle. If we couldn't have, I may have left.
Under other circumstances, taking an infant to a theater is fine--just not a sold-out, long-awaited blockbuster premiere where there is an excited, chaotic crowd of youngish people. For the same reason, under other circumstances it is perfectly acceptable for a conditioned pregnant woman to run in a quieter, less chaotic environment than a crowded race.

Admin, I think you are right in that not everyone is sure how they would react if they found themselves witnessing abuse in a work setting, but I think their reaction might depend on their standing in a company or institutional setting. A lowly worker bee would be more fearful of some kind of retribution, while the president of the company might be more concerned about protecting the company's reputation.
When I coached soccer, there was a young girl on the team who was rather troubled. Her mother could not care for her, so her aunt had taken her in. She showed up at practice one day with some bruises on her legs. I asked her how she had gotten them, and she said that her aunt had hit her. I knew she sometimes stretched the truth about things, so I asked her repeatedly to explain exactly what happened. She didn't waver from her story.
After practice, I discussed what to do with the other two coaches. We were really conflicted about whether to file a report with DYFS because we could not be 100% certain that she had been abused. We had so many questions. What if we reported it, and her story turned out to be false? How much misery would we be inflicting on this family if it wasn't true? Should we confront the aunt? Would we be making things worse for the girl if it was true? Would she be beaten for telling?
We ultimately decided that we would much rather err on the side of protecting the child, so we called DYFS. All three of us spoke to the woman who took the report, and we made it clear over and over that we could not be certain the story was true, and the girl's aunt had just given birth so please handle things carefully in case the story was false. They assured us that they would be careful.
Well, a couple of days later we found out that DYFS had beaten on this family's door at 2:00 in the morning, completely terrifying them. In the end, the girl admitted to making up the story because she was mad at her aunt. We felt terrible for putting this family through this. We apologized profusely to the aunt when next we saw her, but we agreed we would do the same thing again if presented with any similar situation.
I hope we would have taken the same course of action if we suspected abuse at the hand of one of our soccer club's professional trainers. I can acknowledge that a situation like that would definitely have added an element of concern for the image of the club.

I find it highly suspicious that Jamie is back, and now a "source" is telling E! that Kate signed up for a dating show. I have always felt that Jamie was the "source" behind stories that put Kate in a positive light.
IMO, this is just another story planted to get Kate back in the spotlight. There's been very little press about Kate lately, and her "star" has been fading(as shown by the cruise being cancelled and the dismal turnout for her race). It's just another way that shows how desperate Kate is in her quest to stay relevant.
Well now we know why she continues to buy followers. I guess she thinks that 99,000 will really impress network executives. HA! She only has a handful of of fans that tweet her and a handful of "haters" who fight with her fans. The article on the dating show was put out by someone in her camp trying to make her seem relevant (as in "see how many people commented Mr. TV executive").

Curley did go to people at Second Mile. Second Mile was informed of the alleged (at the time) assault on March 19, 2001. They didn't do anything either.
As I said before, I'm not defending Paterno. But he was NOT the end-all, be-all people make him out to be. Curley, Schultz and Spanier were in positions of AUTHORITY over him. You can say what you want about some kind of god-like status Paterno was supposedly endowed with, the fact of the matter is that they were his superiors and they made a bad decision.
Also some have alluded to the Trustees having a hand in this. In fact, the Board was kept mostly in the dark by Spanier and he downplayed the severity of the Grand Jury investigation up until the story broke in November.
I think Kate is running out of ideas and desperate to keep her mug on TV, no matter how it effects her kids. TV dating shows have proven time and again to be a bunch of fame whores out to gain recognition, with very few producing any serious relationships. Let's face it, if you choose to go on TV to find a mate, your intentions may not be so pure, as the CAMERA will film for all to see.

I think the alleged dating show is "hype" at this point, Kate testing the waters, as nothing else is coming up for her. If she had an ounce of integrity or decency for her kids' sake, she (Ms. Supermom) would accept that her fame has ended and get on with her life, centered on what is best for her kids rather than herself for once. She really is "The Thing that Wouldn't Leave."

Admin..I hate to say it but I think the blog got the 2 fold hits from all of us checking it out. I never click on her stuff and even I did after reading some of the comments here. RE the video..kate is so full of herself. Did you notice how she dismissed the other runner for doing well because they are young. kate really feels she is the only person accomplished. Then when they completed the 5k kate has to sneer "see you at the half marathon" I think she couldn't believe other people can run too. What a tool.
Also regarding her looks. It is sad what she has done to herself. He skin was broken out..there was so little fat in the face that she looked haggard and older than 37 years. all of the surgery and weight loss has made kate look really hard and unattractive. Penn State: a question to ponder - IF any of the powerful people (chief of security, AD) had been female, do you think the coverup (or ignoring Sandusky's actions) would have happened? kate is mentally ill. I think TLC did a real number on her. First by building her up to ridiculous levels and by literally being her magic genie. I think the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise still gets reasonable ratings. The success rate for couples is dismal. I am not sure, but I think there is just one marriage and a few lengthy engagements that resulted from all the seasons.

I will never understand this attitude. Last year I witnessed a pedestrian car accident. It was in the parking garage where I worked. A woman was hit by an SUV and fell backward, cracking her skull against the ground. I immediately ran over to her, stayed with till EMS got there, helped her call her daughter, talked to the police officer, etc. Never met her before, never saw her again.
What surprised me the most was my own coworkers telling me that they were "proud" of me, what a "good" person I was, etc. I always responded with, "well, you would've done the same thing." The facial expressions in response to that statement showed me that most people would not have done the same thing. It was one of those AHA moments in my life. Very disturbing.
I have to say it again, I will never understand how you can witness the rape of a child and not call the police immediately. Isn't a personal code of morality more valuable than any amount of money? Isn't protecting a child the highest good?
This board is all about protecting the children, so how is the Penn State situation any different? Both made money off the suffering of children. If you hold TLC accountable for what happened to the Gosselin kids, how can you NOT hold Penn State accountable for what happened to the children that Sandusky raped?

Show #2 - Mom of 3 (again, ME!) travels the country looking for the best high end salon experience (how did Ted Gibson put it? 4 star? 5 star? I can't remember).
Either one would help us pay for college, so the sacrifice would be worth it!

usmagazine.com picked up the reality show story. Every single comment is negative. I also think these are people not entrenched in the hater vs fams stuff since they are using their real names. So there you have it kate. People do not want to see you and it isnt just the vile hater bullies. Its John Q Public that is turning their backs on you.
Also, attached to the story is the photo of kate in the silver dress at the Grove. Does anyone remember when that photo was taken. It wasn't too long ago IIRC yet kate weight loss since then is significant. It seems the more she fades into obscurity the more her weight plummets. When she was doing the Grove photo she still had hope. Dr Drew, interview at the Grove. At that point it seems she still thought she had media opportunities.
Let's look at this 'Kate wants a dating show' announcement in two ways:
1: Kate is probably NOT going to be asked to DWTS and is now willing to scrape the bottom of the barrel and sell her body/a relationship for money. It's just the same as Octomom doing a porno. - Just with no nudity (we would hope)
2:Kate having Jaime there could mean that they are trying to deflect attention and perhaps Kate is heading to LA for the DWTS announcement and Jaime is there to watch the kiddos while she's gone.

I agree that the dating show idea is what Kate mailed away a few months ago and sealed with a kiss. Good luck with that. There is no way anyone is interested in seeing her date anyone. The Bachelor series does well because everyone on there is young and attractive. Kate is 37 (looks at least 47) and has the personality of a tree trunk. There is nothing there. She has been hinting at co-hosting an existing show, appearing on CA and DWTS All-Stars, publishing new books, designing kids' clothes...the list goes on and on. How many of those things have acutally come to fruition? None. Her cruise bombed due to lack of interest, Twist of Kate never happened due to lack of viewers, nobody reads her blog, nobody shows up to run with her or watch her run. I'm guessing the networks are so sick of seeing crap come in from her that they just toss whatever she sends them into the trash without even looking at it. She has no audience, so why bother? No unique ideas+no audience=no show.

Kate thinks she's so darn high and mighty and above Octomom (I remember her sneer when someone asked her about her in a recent interview) but really she is right at her level. Just because you're not taking your clothes off, literally, doesn't mean you aren't selling your body, your dignity, your children's dignity and what's left of your soul.
Oh another point about Kate being 37 as you said....she really is starting to get too old to have much of a chance on T.V. This isn't my idea but the fact of the matter is few women over 35 are able to break in at this point. Men it's usually no problem but women are about done at this age. That's why I was saying yesterday that you would be shocked at the sheer number of people who knew and did nothing. Including a child abuse charity! It's kind of interesting that there seems to be little outrage that a CHILD ABUSE CHARITY did nothing and all of it is focused on one man who while he without a shadow of a doubt did not do enough, sure did more than some people in this mess. A friend of one of the shooting victims is planning a lawsuit, because he was traumatized by the shooting. Although he was in the theater, he was not injured. The lawyer he has is a Beverly Hills lawyer.

Heather from an independent perspective this is so completely true. I think what happened here is that you have to understand how revered Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky were. They were like Jesus and his apostle. The football culture there is a lifestyle, people's lives. Penn State was even once featured in a classroom psychology video from the 80's or so about group think. (It would be interesting to dig up that video, huh? Maybe some google sleuths could find it.) So all the people that knew about it but feared for their jobs I think were right to fear it. It does not excuse not reporting it but I do think their fears were absolutely true.
Here's an example, former trustee Vicky Triponey didn't like how Paterno was running things and kept trying to stand up to him and complained about him a lot. This lasted a few years before eventually Spanier told her look, it's just not working out. And fired her.
There is a real history here of those who tried to speak out against the cultural wave getting sacked.

When I saw that woman get hit in parking garage, I didn't go into my building, take the elevator upstairs, wait for my supervisor to come in and then tell her, hoping SHE would do something about it.
I found our later that the parking garage had security cameras that caught the whole thing on tape. I am clearly visible heading toward the building and then running back to the woman after she was hit. Had I not reacted the way I did, they would have seen me witness the accident and walk right on by.

What I'm saying is in a perfect world when Paterno went to his boss, had his boss done something about it, this would have been at most a 2-week scandal, Sandusky would have been promptly thrown in jail and Paterno would be the hero. Because it was not reported by the higher ups, it then went back to Paterno as a moral obligation. In other words, he passed the ball to his boss, his boss passed at back, and at that point instead of putting the ball back in the shed, he should have then passed it to 9-1-1. Also FYI the police were involved, McQueary for one told them all about the incident. And good ole Gary Schultz who was all part of this WAS IN CHARGE OF CAMPUS POLICE. That's police. Before this happened I would assume if I went to the campus police chief, which is who they tell you to call on campus before calling 9-1-1, it would be taken care of. We've learned that is so far from the truth.
This is why I say again, it is SHOCKING the number of people involved. Even police.

I work at a 4-year university that has a very successful football team. At this time its academics vs. athletics which happens a lot at universities. The difference is the gap is so wide that its obvious who the have and have nots are. Donors contribute to whatever organization they want, and Athletics is visible so they are getting most of the money.
So here's the situation, successful football team bringing in lots of money so whose is going to go against the administration and the coaches. Even though Athletics is very successful they continue to draw money from the academic side of the university. Again and again faculty have told the administration enough, tell Athletics to live within their means. And Administration continue to ignore the faculty.
This has become a situation where there's not enough faculty to teach, not enough support staff, and not enough classrooms. Why are students' needs not being addressed. Oh yeah, its not Athletics.
This situation does not involve child abuse, thank God. But it does point out people are crying foul and are being ignored. Athletics rule and everything else (including academics) are second citizens.
It may have been picked up by some celebrity sites but believe me it will be gone by tomorrow....even her sheeple can't swallow the thought of Kate kissing on camera....and NO, she not better than that..
So what persona would Kate be trying to market for a dating show? If it's the persona that she's known and reviled for, it's not an attractive one to potential suitors. If it's a completely new, "sweet, helpless me" persona, noone is going to buy that either. We've seen from all Kate's interviews that she is, "in a word", inarticulate, contrary to how she perceives herself to be. Let's assume for a moment this dating show actually gets off the ground. I'm going to have to ask you to put on your imagination caps and work very hard to picture it, but please try.
So she gets a dating show. How long can a show about one person's dating really last before it's canceled? A year, two tops? The youngest kids will only be about 10 by then. Then what? She'll be back to square one again with eight still very young children to take care of and no income.
I'm a runner and Kate's pace of 9:38 is actually a good pace. I also think she looks good physically. I've never not thought she was an attractive person externally. My problem has always been that she's not an attractive person internally. She's a nasty, selfish, entitled narcissist. There's not enough counseling or medication that would change that either. Narcissists are not reformable. It's a maddening mental illness. It wrecks havoc on families and friends, which is why Kate has very few - if any - in her life. Narcissists eventually drive everyone away and it's always, always the other persons fault. The narcissist never plays role in the demise of the relationship. They are masters at manipulating situations to favor themselves. Have you ever noticed that about Kate? It's ALWAYS someone else who is to blame. Classic narcissist.
I understand the perspective or hero worship, but when CHILDREN are involved, the gloves come off. Campus police are helpless. I worked as an RA to put myself through school, and they are nothing more than glorified security guards. Anyone who works on a college understands that the main function of campus police is to ensure that information does NOT reach the general public.
Again, I understand the hero worship that takes place. But I will NEVER understand how anyone can place that above the welfare of children.
I have not taken part in this conversation earlier because it makes me want to throw up.
It makes me physically ill. To hear the rationalization of how these people actively chose to DO NOTHING, and how people now are basically defending their cumulative inaction ... there are no words. And it makes me fear for my own child's safety, that adults, again, smart, educated "successful" adults, do not do the right thing.

Maybe at smaller campuses that's true but at a big University like Penn State the campus police are more than glorified security guards. They are real police with the same authority. They have to be at a campus the size of a small city. They are armed and trained and many were former police officers. Before all this, I would have trusted a group like them to handle anything. In fact if I'm not mistaken if you call 9-1-1 your call is routed to them first. Keep in mind University Park is an entire city.
This is from the description of the police from PSU's web site: Penn State University police officers are certified by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission. They have the same authority as municipal police officers in Pennsylvania and are required to have the same basic police training, first aid training, and annual in-service training required for municipal police.
Anyway the point being I would have thought the police chief is the police too.

Yeah, her show doesn't have a network yet, but she's really hoping to get back in the action. She says her kids, whom she has presumably leased back from TLC, are eager to get to filming again, because I'm sure that's not at all a big fat lie made to placate people who are a little concerned about adults selling their children to cable networks So. If she makes it back on the air, will you watch? Is anyone out there still invested in Kate Gosselin? Or are you all just waiting desperately to find out what those poor kids turn out like when they're older, like we are?
If her show idea involves filming the kids at some point, I cannot imagine a networks would have any interest. No network is going to risk problems from Jon. Even if hypothetically Jon says fine now, he's changed his mind before and there is a history of that and it would not be worth the risk. I can't imagine networks would like to get involved with kids who are being dragged through family law court over various disputes. It's just a bad idea.
Actually her best bet is to pitch shows that don't involve the children at all. They are too much of a liability what with what happened last time.

This is true. They have the same authority, meaning what exactly? They don't report to the local police station, they are their own entity. Kind of like, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
When a roommate was being stalked, campus police told her she would have to take it up with the "other police," since the stalker was a hometown ex-bf and not a student, they couldn't follow up on it. They couldn't even get a phone tap on our landline. They had no jurisdiction. WTF, this is in a DORM ROOM, with a school provided landline phone.
When I was an RA and one of my girls was drugged and raped, campus police did NOTHING to investigate it. They didn't even talk to the guy who did it (another RA saw the guy leaving her room, the girl's roommate also corroborated the story independently to me), who lived just down the hall.
Of course "they" say they are real "police." What else are they going to say? We really can't protect our students and have no jurisdiction?
They also are used to manipulate campus rape and violence statistics. Only acts committed directly on campus count. If you are two feet off "school property" and get assaulted it is NOT recorded as a school statistic even if everyone involved is a student.
Their goal is to protect the reputation of the school.
If Kate's name is on the list of possible DWTS cast members to be voted in, then she's obviously made herself available for being on the show. Perhaps that's why she's not confirming what marathons she'll be doing for sure in the Fall.
However, I feel there are probably too many other names on that list that America would like to see back instead of her, so I don't put any stock into her winning it.
As for her ideas for a dating show, I can't imagine what kind of "fun" ways and "different approach" she's thinking of for it. That makes it sound like she's not really serious about finding Mr. Right, but more like she just wants to be on tv again. (Duh!)

I totally can relate. I think mine is a combination of age and hormones (or lack thereof!) Sometimes I can fall asleep but then I wake up wide awake at 2:00 AM. Difficult to get back to sleep. Speculation at the DWTS boards is that the cast will consist of finalists who did not win and that the last remaining person will be chosen from a list of non-finalists or a list of champions, or possibly both.
If the vote is for a non-finalist, there are too many non-finalists favorites (Sabrina, Maria M. etc)for Kate to even have a chance.

Maybe I've been doing things wrong all along! I have a stove hood like this, and when I clean it, I use a damp sponge mop with some detergent (or vinegar)...clean it, and then I use my dry pad swiffer to go over it and dry it.

If the kids go to a state university and commute, they can do it for $10,000 a year per student. However, sending all of them to a private university is going to cost her well over $25,000 per year per student. Let's go with the cost of $38,000 per student per year. For all of them, that would be $1,216,000. Add to that the $1,200,000 that it's going to take to get the kids through private school. She needs a dating show to find a VERY rich man (or maybe two or three).

Kate is demonstrating how she lives in a fantasy world, again with hints about a dating show. Has she looked at herself in the mirror lately? She's aging fast. It may not be fair, but networks seek the younger demographic audience, not the older one. What sort of draw would Kate offer to any network or cable station, in a dating show. We just finished putting our son through college and the last year cost about $20,000 (tuition,room and board) at a public research university. My estimate was figuring that in 10 years or so, costs will rise. Even if they do live at home, there are still costs of room, board, gas, and insurance. If they start at a community college, it will be easier.
No matter how much she has banked, the cost of living in the mansion and school expenses will be her undoing over the next several years.

The VCU police and city police are both police departments, VCU police are certified highly trained and experienced police force. Check it's relevant because people think police weren't involved and never called. I told heather actually they were but she said, reasonably so, they were glorified security guards. The scary fact is they are not that at all. I think it just slightly mitigates things to know that Paterno did go to police. I just think its important to know what he did do and didn't do. Any man who is willing to date you on a reality show should probably be crossed off your list. The fact that Kate would even act for one second like this is a serious way to find not just a partner for you but someone who is going to help you raise your children, is deeply disturbing.
When I was pregnant, I participated in aerobic dance classes until the day before I delivered. I was in excellent shape, had been dancing for years and had my doctor's blessing. However, as my due date neared, I wouldn't attend sports in an arena because I was too nervous about being jostled around in the crowd and not able to leave quickly if necessary.
For the same reason, I wouldn't take an infant to a crowded movie premiere. I was a burn nurse, so in addition to worrying about being shoved around, I think about being able to escape safely in case of a fire or other emergency. While the chance of a shooting rampage at a movie theater may be remote, that isn't the only emergency that can happen in a theater. The premiere showing had to have been extremely crowded with a high level of excitement--not an appropriate place for an infant. The last time I was at a movie, I realized that our row had only one aisle at one end--the other end went right up to the wall. It wasn't crowded, so we were able to sit by the aisle. If we couldn't have, I may have left.
Under other circumstances, taking an infant to a theater is fine--just not a sold-out, long-awaited blockbuster premiere where there is an excited, chaotic crowd of youngish people. For the same reason, under other circumstances it is perfectly acceptable for a conditioned pregnant woman to run in a quieter, less chaotic environment than a crowded race.

Admin, I think you are right in that not everyone is sure how they would react if they found themselves witnessing abuse in a work setting, but I think their reaction might depend on their standing in a company or institutional setting. A lowly worker bee would be more fearful of some kind of retribution, while the president of the company might be more concerned about protecting the company's reputation.
When I coached soccer, there was a young girl on the team who was rather troubled. Her mother could not care for her, so her aunt had taken her in. She showed up at practice one day with some bruises on her legs. I asked her how she had gotten them, and she said that her aunt had hit her. I knew she sometimes stretched the truth about things, so I asked her repeatedly to explain exactly what happened. She didn't waver from her story.
After practice, I discussed what to do with the other two coaches. We were really conflicted about whether to file a report with DYFS because we could not be 100% certain that she had been abused. We had so many questions. What if we reported it, and her story turned out to be false? How much misery would we be inflicting on this family if it wasn't true? Should we confront the aunt? Would we be making things worse for the girl if it was true? Would she be beaten for telling?
We ultimately decided that we would much rather err on the side of protecting the child, so we called DYFS. All three of us spoke to the woman who took the report, and we made it clear over and over that we could not be certain the story was true, and the girl's aunt had just given birth so please handle things carefully in case the story was false. They assured us that they would be careful.
Well, a couple of days later we found out that DYFS had beaten on this family's door at 2:00 in the morning, completely terrifying them. In the end, the girl admitted to making up the story because she was mad at her aunt. We felt terrible for putting this family through this. We apologized profusely to the aunt when next we saw her, but we agreed we would do the same thing again if presented with any similar situation.
I hope we would have taken the same course of action if we suspected abuse at the hand of one of our soccer club's professional trainers. I can acknowledge that a situation like that would definitely have added an element of concern for the image of the club.

I find it highly suspicious that Jamie is back, and now a "source" is telling E! that Kate signed up for a dating show. I have always felt that Jamie was the "source" behind stories that put Kate in a positive light.
IMO, this is just another story planted to get Kate back in the spotlight. There's been very little press about Kate lately, and her "star" has been fading(as shown by the cruise being cancelled and the dismal turnout for her race). It's just another way that shows how desperate Kate is in her quest to stay relevant.
Well now we know why she continues to buy followers. I guess she thinks that 99,000 will really impress network executives. HA! Curley did go to people at Second Mile. Second Mile was informed of the alleged (at the time) assault on March 19, 2001. They didn't do anything either.
As I said before, I'm not defending Paterno. But he was NOT the end-all, be-all people make him out to be. Curley, Schultz and Spanier were in positions of AUTHORITY over him. You can say what you want about some kind of god-like status Paterno was supposedly endowed with, the fact of the matter is that they were his superiors and they made a bad decision.
Also some have alluded to the Trustees having a hand in this. In fact, the Board was kept mostly in the dark by Spanier and he downplayed the severity of the Grand Jury investigation up until the story broke in November.
I think Kate is running out of ideas and desperate to keep her mug on TV, no matter how it effects her kids. TV dating shows have proven time and again to be a bunch of fame whores out to gain recognition, with very few producing any serious relationships. Let's face it, if you choose to go on TV to find a mate, your intentions may not be so pure, as the CAMERA will film for all to see.

RE the video..kate is so full of herself. Did you notice how she dismissed the other runner for doing well because they are young. kate really feels she is the only person accomplished. Then when they completed the 5k kate has to sneer "see you at the half marathon" I think she couldn't believe other people can run too. What a tool.
Also regarding her looks. It is sad what she has done to herself. He skin was broken out..there was so little fat in the face that she looked haggard and older than 37 years. all of the surgery and weight loss has made kate look really hard and unattractive. Penn State: a question to ponder - IF any of the powerful people (chief of security, AD) had been female, do you think the coverup (or ignoring Sandusky's actions) would have happened? I think the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise still gets reasonable ratings. The success rate for couples is dismal. I am not sure, but I think there is just one marriage and a few lengthy engagements that resulted from all the seasons.

I will never understand this attitude. Last year I witnessed a pedestrian car accident. It was in the parking garage where I worked. A woman was hit by an SUV and fell backward, cracking her skull against the ground. I immediately ran over to her, stayed with till EMS got there, helped her call her daughter, talked to the police officer, etc. Never met her before, never saw her again.
What surprised me the most was my own coworkers telling me that they were "proud" of me, what a "good" person I was, etc. I always responded with, "well, you would've done the same thing." The facial expressions in response to that statement showed me that most people would not have done the same thing. It was one of those AHA moments in my life. Very disturbing.
I have to say it again, I will never understand how you can witness the rape of a child and not call the police immediately. Isn't a personal code of morality more valuable than any amount of money? Isn't protecting a child the highest good?
This board is all about protecting the children, so how is the Penn State situation any different? Both made money off the suffering of children. If you hold TLC accountable for what happened to the Gosselin kids, how can you NOT hold Penn State accountable for what happened to the children that Sandusky raped?

Show #1 - Mom of 3 (me!) travels the country looking for the best mani/pedi. I've only had one manicure (and no pedicures) in my life, but I'm sure I could figure out some rating criteria on the flight to the first place.
Show #2 - Mom of 3 (again, ME!) travels the country looking for the best high end salon experience (how did Ted Gibson put it? 4 star? 5 star? I can't remember).
Either one would help us pay for college, so the sacrifice would be worth it!

usmagazine.com picked up the reality show story. Every single comment is negative. I also think these are people not entrenched in the hater vs fams stuff since they are using their real names. Also, attached to the story is the photo of kate in the silver dress at the Grove. Does anyone remember when that photo was taken. It wasn't too long ago IIRC yet kate weight loss since then is significant. It seems the more she fades into obscurity the more her weight plummets. Let's look at this 'Kate wants a dating show' announcement in two ways:

I think that Kate envisions herself as the producer (mo money, mo money, mo money) and is shopping it around herself. All anyone has to do is watch the TLC birthday bash where she and Jamie went clubbing to see what a fun gal Kate is. She looked so very uncomfortable during that whole episode and when the guy at the door asked for a smile and you told him "Well you're not getting one from me" and walked by him like he was a piece of dirt you really showed what a fun gal you are. I think that episode was TLC testing the waters to see if a "Date Kate With or Without the 8" show would float. It didn't it sank like a lead balloon.
In the last year Kate has been "shopping around" a talk show, a travel show, a cooking show, a fitness show, a dating show, and a new reality show with the kids. She has been hinting at co-hosting an existing show, appearing on CA and DWTS All-Stars, publishing new books, designing kids' clothes...the list goes on and on. How many of those things have acutally come to fruition? None. Her cruise bombed due to lack of interest, Twist of Kate never happened due to lack of viewers, nobody reads her blog, nobody shows up to run with her or watch her run.
I'm guessing the networks are so sick of seeing crap come in from her that they just toss whatever she sends them into the trash without even looking at it. She has no audience, so why bother? No unique ideas+no audience=no show.

Ok. Saw the photo she posted of everyone, including Jamie and her 3 kids in the back of that trailer. So she got Jamie to come down to watch the kids while she was in Chicago. Interesting. Once a Viewer -- sorry about your insomnia. I have nights when I am weary but just can't fall asleep. Lying in bed, twisting and turning, is very frustrating. My head fills with these strange "worry" thoughts.
I just get up. Sleepy (snoring) hubby hardly notices. I envy his ability to sleep like the proverbial baby.

Nothing I have tried over the counter helps. Some of them have given me really weird dreams. I have not taken any prescription sleep aids.

It's not a hard and fast rule, but you will see more pregnant women in the gym then out running PT. The get a profile from the Dr. which allows them to do this. It also exempts them from taking the PT testes (running a certain distance in a set time, push ups, etc.

Heather from an independent perspective this is so completely true. I think what happened here is that you have to understand how revered Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky were. They were like Jesus and his apostle. The football culture there is a lifestyle, people's lives. Penn State was even once featured in a classroom psychology video from the 80's or so about group think. (It would be interesting to dig up that video, huh? Maybe some google sleuths could find it.) So all the people that knew about it but feared for their jobs I think were right to fear it. It does not excuse not reporting it but I do think their fears were absolutely true.
Here's an example, former trustee Vicky Triponey didn't like how Paterno was running things and kept trying to stand up to him and complained about him a lot. This lasted a few years before eventually Spanier told her look, it's just not working out. And fired her.
There is a real history here of those who tried to speak out against the cultural wave getting sacked.

When I saw that woman get hit in parking garage, I didn't go into my building, take the elevator upstairs, wait for my supervisor to come in and then tell her, hoping SHE would do something about it.
I found our later that the parking garage had security cameras that caught the whole thing on tape. I am clearly visible heading toward the building and then running back to the woman after she was hit. Had I not reacted the way I did, they would have seen me witness the accident and walk right on by.
I don't know how any of them sleep at night. I really don't. They are as mentally ill as the Colorado shooter.

What I'm saying is in a perfect world when Paterno went to his boss, had his boss done something about it, this would have been at most a 2-week scandal, Sandusky would have been promptly thrown in jail and Paterno would be the hero. Because it was not reported by the higher ups, it then went back to Paterno as a moral obligation. In other words, he passed the ball to his boss, his boss passed at back, and at that point instead of putting the ball back in the shed, he should have then passed it to 9-1-1. Also FYI the police were involved, McQueary for one told them all about the incident. And good ole Gary Schultz who was all part of this WAS IN CHARGE OF CAMPUS POLICE. That's police. Before this happened I would assume if I went to the campus police chief, which is who they tell you to call on campus before calling 9-1-1, it would be taken care of. We've learned that is so far from the truth.
This is why I say again, it is SHOCKING the number of people involved. Even police.
I work at a 4-year university that has a very successful football team. At this time its academics vs. athletics which happens a lot at universities. The difference is the gap is so wide that its obvious who the have and have nots are. Donors contribute to whatever organization they want, and Athletics is visible so they are getting most of the money.
So here's the situation, successful football team bringing in lots of money so whose is going to go against the administration and the coaches. Even though Athletics is very successful they continue to draw money from the academic side of the university. Again and again faculty have told the administration enough, tell Athletics to live within their means. And Administration continue to ignore the faculty.
This has become a situation where there's not enough faculty to teach, not enough support staff, and not enough classrooms. Why are students' needs not being addressed. Oh yeah, its not Athletics.
This situation does not involve child abuse, thank God. But it does point out people are crying foul and are being ignored. Athletics rule and everything else (including academics) are second citizens.
It may have been picked up by some celebrity sites but believe me it will be gone by tomorrow....even her sheeple can't swallow the thought of Kate kissing on camera....and NO, she not better than that..
So what persona would Kate be trying to market for a dating show? If it's the persona that she's known and reviled for, it's not an attractive one to potential suitors. If it's a completely new, "sweet, helpless me" persona, noone is going to buy that either.
We've seen from all Kate's interviews that she is, "in a word", inarticulate, contrary to how she perceives herself to be. She is so wrapped up in herself that she cannot carry her half of any conversation. She would only be attractive to fellow narcissists. I understand the perspective or hero worship, but when CHILDREN are involved, the gloves come off. Campus police are helpless. I worked as an RA to put myself through school, and they are nothing more than glorified security guards. Anyone who works on a college understands that the main function of campus police is to ensure that information does NOT reach the general public.
Again, I understand the hero worship that takes place. But I will NEVER understand how anyone can place that above the welfare of children.
I have not taken part in this conversation earlier because it makes me want to throw up.
It makes me physically ill. To hear the rationalization of how these people actively chose to DO NOTHING, and how people now are basically defending their cumulative inaction ... there are no words. And it makes me fear for my own child's safety, that adults, again, smart, educated "successful" adults, do not do the right thing.

It reminds me of a couple of bored preteens playing games on the telephone.
Maybe at smaller campuses that's true but at a big University like Penn State the campus police are more than glorified security guards. They are real police with the same authority. They have to be at a campus the size of a small city. They are armed and trained and many were former police officers. Before all this, I would have trusted a group like them to handle anything. In fact if I'm not mistaken if you call 9-1-1 your call is routed to them first. Keep in mind University Park is an entire city.

Yeah, her show doesn't have a network yet, but she's really hoping to get back in the action. She says her kids, whom she has presumably leased back from TLC, are eager to get to filming again, because I'm sure that's not at all a big fat lie made to placate people who are a little concerned about adults selling their children to cable networks So. If she makes it back on the air, will you watch? Is anyone out there still invested in Kate Gosselin? Or are you all just waiting desperately to find out what those poor kids turn out like when they're older, like we are?
If her show idea involves filming the kids at some point, I cannot imagine a networks would have any interest. No network is going to risk problems from Jon. Even if hypothetically Jon says fine now, he's changed his mind before and there is a history of that and it would not be worth the risk. I can't imagine networks would like to get involved with kids who are being dragged through family law court over various disputes. It's just a bad idea.
Actually her best bet is to pitch shows that don't involve the children at all. They are too much of a liability what with what happened last time.

This is true. They have the same authority, meaning what exactly? They don't report to the local police station, they are their own entity. Kind of like, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
When a roommate was being stalked, campus police told her she would have to take it up with the "other police," since the stalker was a hometown ex-bf and not a student, they couldn't follow up on it. They couldn't even get a phone tap on our landline. They had no jurisdiction. WTF, this is in a DORM ROOM, with a school provided landline phone.
When I was an RA and one of my girls was drugged and raped, campus police did NOTHING to investigate it. They didn't even talk to the guy who did it (another RA saw the guy leaving her room, the girl's roommate also corroborated the story independently to me), who lived just down the hall.
Of course "they" say they are real "police." What else are they going to say? We really can't protect our students and have no jurisdiction?
They also are used to manipulate campus rape and violence statistics. Only acts committed directly on campus count. If you are two feet off "school property" and get assaulted it is NOT recorded as a school statistic even if everyone involved is a student.
Their goal is to protect the reputation of the school.

Kate is demonstrating how she lives in a fantasy world, again with hints about a dating show. Has she looked at herself in the mirror lately? She's aging fast. It may not be fair, but networks seek the younger demographic audience, not the older one. What sort of draw would Kate offer to any network or cable station, in a dating show. She's approaching 40, has a receding hairline, a grating personality, and isn't even that pretty anymore. She was once quite lovely-looking and natural - now she's rather generic looking.

Yes, Berks, I was figuring the student living on campus. We just finished putting our son through college and the last year cost about $20,000 (tuition,room and board) at a public research university. My estimate was figuring that in 10 years or so, costs will rise. Even if they do live at home, there are still costs of room, board, gas, and insurance. If they start at a community college, it will be easier.
No matter how much she has banked, the cost of living in the mansion and school expenses will be her undoing over the next several years.

What is REALLY funny is that they think Kate would do this to find a man!! BWAHAHAHA!!! Silly Sheeple - she would do it for the MONEY, and to go back to having a production crew doing her constant bidding! Finding a mate has nothing to do with this!!
She is desperate to be the center of attention on a reality show where she thinks she will call the shots, have a constant crew of folks telling her how wonderful she is, buying and arranging any little thing her heart desires and organizing weeks and weeks away from her kids, and paying her hundreds of thousands to screech at and demean people. She has nothing to offer but her shriveled up body; she has no pleasing attributes to offer, no talent, no charm, no loving attitude, no ability to communicate, no charitable soul, no concern for others. So she has coated herself in fake teeth, fake nails, fake hair, fake boobs, fake tan, fake eyelashes, real botox and fillers, and wants to offer up that mess to the highest bidder. All she wants is for someone to pay her to breathe, since she is the only one who can apparently do that correctly.
Ha! Jamie gets to babysit while Kate runs her errands. Wondering if Jamie was called to visit because nanny is on vacation? Jamie gets free house and board to be Kate's maid and babysitter. Can this woman be anymore dumb?

Admin, I want to echo your info re camps police departments. I work near Richmond where Virginia commonwealth univ VCU is. The VCU police and city police are both police departments, VCU police are certified highly trained and experienced police force. When Taylor Biehl was murdered, it was VCU police investigators who found her body in rural area and got evidence to convict her killer. Alerts go on the VCU website of any crimes on or around the campus. It should be the expectation that all college police and authorities report crimes to appropriate agencies for further investigation or prosecution. I have severe apnea and can't tolerate the clap mask. My sleeping med stopped working, but I am sleeping better using a combo of OTC supplements:
--Melatonin--Time-released, 3 mg capsules; Don't increase the dose--more is not better, If wake up, I take another sub-lingual, non time released tablet that dissolves quickly (also 3mg)
--Glycine-This is an amino acid that comes in powder (cheapest), capsules and Pre-measured "sticks" (3 Grams dosage). The powder is tasteless and can be mixed in water or juice. Studies show that Glycine not only induces sleep, but improves sleep architecture by increasing the percentage of restorative delta wave sleep. The recommended dosage is 3 grams.
-I also take an herbal supplement, called Tranquilnite Plus, made by New Chapter.
I would recommend trying glycine first. The Pre-measured sticks are reall expensive, but convenient for trying out. I just got the bulk powder form, but I also have capsules for traveling. the highest dosage capsules I found are 1 gram (1000 mg equivalent), so have to take 3.

PSU Campus Police are sworn officers of the law. That means they are real cops. Like with guns and the power to arrest people. They are not like "campus security" rent-a-cops. They have some of them too. Not really sure how or why that is relevant to anything but you keep asking, so I thought I would answer it for you.
Check it's relevant because people think police weren't involved and never called. I told heather actually they were but she said, reasonably so, they were glorified security guards. The scary fact is they are not that at all. I think it just slightly mitigates things to know that Paterno did go to police. I just think its important to know what he did do and didn't do. It's wasn't as simple as he did nothing. Other than that i obviously completely agree with heather that not enough was done.
