ABC makes the big announcement today, along with one slot for a vote-in candidate. Will the shopping Kart return or at least be on the ballot?

NT,

I too have bad knees... I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but I found that using a rowing machine helped me immensely!

I can maintian flexibility in my knees without weight-bearing. It also lets me build up my quads and stretch out my back.

I switch up sometimes and use the recumbent bicycle. I just have a hard time doing the elliptical and stairmaster, I think because they add the weight-bearing component.

Oddly, I can use the treadmill using the incline feature easier than the flat walking... don't know why...

My knee doc said I need a knee replacement but I'm putting that off for as long as I can.

I thought of doing water aerobics but don't want to subject the other swimmers to the vision of my old, out-of-shape body. Let's just say I'm not in bikini condition anymore. LOL

Wishing peace and good health to all...

++++++++++++++

This bus ride keeps getting longer as the months go by! It's 45 minutes one way; an hour and a half a day, two hours max. By the end of the year it might grow to 10 hours in school each day, plus a ten hour bus ride!

Flight of the Kiwi --I love that story of the cemetery plot. I think you revealed a great deal about your personality (and your brother) when you said that the removal of the tree "funny". Others might have defined it as "tragic" and gone all dramatic.

Wonderful story. Wonderful conclusion about the futility of over-planning. Thank you.

I'm afraid this blog has lost whatever credibility it had. self admitted posters here are on average alll retired and/or on disability and post much like that juvenile Kate Gosselin.

Imaginary 'parties' with silly passwords and pretending to get drunk really makes people look, well, just as juvenile as Kate.

Snap out of it people! We're supposed to be much more classy and self-contained. Not completely ridiculous with teenage virtual ridiculous 'parties'.

Let's keep the focus on helping these Gosselin children.

************************************************

Well, I had blast.

It felt great to let off some steam. The folks on this blog are intelligent, socially conscious, fun loving, and big hearted.

BTW, the party was a parody of Kate's offensive, documented life. You can't make up the b*llsh*t she's done & said.
So in my humble opinion, no harm, no foul.

For the record, I am no where close to retiring (unfortunately)-but that's o.k. I live a very full, productive life, surrounded by family, pets, and very good friends.

OBVIOUSLY, being retired (or not) has nothing to do with intelligence, viablity, and being sharp witted. I love that NOTHING gets past anyone here. It's good to be in their company.

Now, imagine how BORING life would be if we didn't have laughs here and there?

With all due respect, if you do not like how we play here, there are so many other blogs in cyberspace that may fit your personality better.

Peace.

Remember when she used to just mention that she needed paper towels and a case would show up at the door? When she said on Leno that it would be funny if she was on DTWS because she can't dance, and-surprise!- she was asked on DWTS? She just can't figure out what changed. She has dropped all the hints, and nobody has come running to give her what she wants.
---------------------
She is like a gambler who wins a jackpot the first time she gambled. She keeps going back, gambling everything she has, waiting for that jackpot. She sees Pamela Anderson and the Pioneer Woman hitting those 3 cherries and getting HER payoff, so she keeps trying to do what they did--breast implants, overworked recipes, etc. She doesn't see the hard work that is behind their success-- she thinks everyone just got lucky--like she did.

Kae was certainly lucky in her timing--the reality show model was ripe for her photogenic family with the bitch on wheels mother and the laid-back dad. Too bad that she killed the Golden Goose. She will never accept that her time in the limelight is over until she has lost it all. Kate has already lost all of the things that I, and many other posters, most value in life--friends, family, community and respect. But its never been about those things for her--Those were just things to be used to create her phony persona. What I don't see is why she hasn"t gotten that she is so untalented, she couldn"t even play herself believably. At the beginning of this thread I posted a list ofall of the roles she has tried out for and lost. There is zero likelihood that she will hit that jackpot, but just watch her stand at that slot machine, feeding every last quarter.

It is a good thing to laugh, to take a break from harsh reality, to refresh and renew oneself. It's like taking a 2 week vacation from work to shake off the weariness of the job. The routine gets changed up, if only temporarily, and it keeps you sane.

To have a closet party after literally years of pointing out the horrible parenting of a mother toward her children is nothing more than a break in the routine. Everyone needs a vacation. We took one, but are back at work now.

Kate's tweets are about joining the fun. Perhaps she needs to be the one partying less and getting down to the business at hand - getting a regular job and being a mother to her children.

Once a Viewer 173 -- I know just the John Saul book you mean! "Suffer the Children"! It was the first, and last, book I ever read by him. SHUDDER! I normally like horror. Love Dean Koontz -- well, most of his books, anyway -- and ditto Stephen King. I really admire the way King writes. Even the books that turn out to be duds are well-written. I think he uses words better than most of the other writers out there today. Saul just gave me the cold grues.

Dwindle -- I assume you are trying to remove a book from your Kindle library? If so -- go to Amazon, click on "my account", scroll down to digital management and click on "manage my Kindle". Once it's finished booting up, search for the title (or author) in your library and call up the book. Hover your cursor over the "action" button. One of your options will be "delete from library". Click on that and it will completely remove the book. You likely just deleted from device before, which sends it to your archives.

How funny! I did, once. It was a book of short stories. I've forgotten the name and the author. She was a Eng. Lit professor somewhere and used extremely obscure words that one couldn't pronounce let alone know the meanings. I think she was trying too hard to be avante-garde. The stories were odd, rather creepy and I got so angry with her while reading it I eventually threw the book (a hard cover!) in the trash and purposely dumped wet coffee grounds all over it.

I'm curious. People are saying Kate may have sent a tape into DWTS a while back. Is that how DWTS does things? Like Survivor? I know people submit tapes for that show if they want to be on it. I would have thought DWTS would approach people or their agents if they are considering having a celeb on their show. It seems somewhat bush league to have people send tapes in begging for a spot on the show. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Hit publish too soon. Permanent Name -- I joined a water aerobics class at the local Y. I certainly don't have a young, or bikini body either, and was self-conscious about it. Well, most of the members were seniors like myself, and they don't have young or bikini bodies either. Most of us were taking it because of physical problems or because we were rehabbing an injury. Don't worry about it! In fact, ask if there is a group for seniors. A lot of places that offer water aerobics break down the groups by age/physical condition so that it's not too strenuous for some and too basic for others. You might also look into a water walking class. These are almost exclusively seniors.

LOL oh no, no. This was her behavior while the show was on TV, wanting everyone to notice her (prior to the paparazzi stalking her during the divorce). I guess nobody around here paid that much attention to her so she had to make sure everyone noticed she was there.

Kate would call the store prior to arriving so they could open up a lane for her. Then when the paps started following, employees had to "stand guard" at the door so the paps couldn't get inside to bother "Ms. Gosselin".

I think what bothers me most about Kate lately is that she tweets about positivity, and then all she does is complain. She complains about her motherly duties(i.e.shopping), about her exhaustedness, about anything and everything. Then she starts with the positivity again.

It's like she's saying everything is fine and dandy, but......

Kate if you want to show that you're a positive person, stop complaining how hard it is to mother 8 kids.
--------------------------
I agree! And for the record I enjoyed reading the party posts the other night. All the party guests were hilarious and spot on with their parody of Kate's life. And this is coming from a Professionally employeed Mother with college degrees.

And, unlike Kate, when I spend time with my kids, I actually get energized. And this is after working and commuting to a FULL time job 5 days a week. My kids' activities keep us very busy but bring such enjoyment to my life. I would never trade any of my time with them for extra sleep or alone time.

On the other hand, my kids do know that my work can make me stressed and tired some days. But I would NEVER make them even think that my time with them does. They know that I will always be an active and enthusiastic part of their lives.

I enjoy this blog because of the variety of posters: social services professionals, health care professionals, teachers, law professionals, concerned parents and grandparents, etc. All of us have varied interests and perspectives, and that's what makes the blog lively. I wish I were as funny as a lot of you--especially Auntie Ann and Dwindle! Oh, and I enjoy the off-topic discussions, too.

What binds us together is the shared anger and frustration that a narcissistic, abusive woman can be repeatedly rewarded (financially and attention-wise) for her bad behavior and terrible parenting choices.

She said herself in the limo with Steve (one of those "Kate" episodes) that every mother's worst fear is that she is a horrible mother. She said it herself and it's right there on tape. She knows she is awful to those kids. And no, I don't believe most mothers would agree with her. My worst fear is that some kind of harm will come to my kids, even though they are both grown.

I'm not retired or disabled, and I don't care if others here are. I thought the closet party was hilarious, and I'm sorry I missed it!

Somehow, I found this funny - as did my brother. Her plan was a beautiful one, but nature had other plans. I realized that we can plan and plan and plan, but we should never miss the moment. We cannot plan for everything. There is a weird solace in that for me.

Once a Viewer --I have antagonistic responses, too. Really irritating, isn't it? Good luck with the glycine--let me know. I was wondering about the NyquilZ

Flight--How beautiful. I think that imperfections and flaws are what make people who they are and life endlessly fascinating. Perfection just isn't very interesting, is it?

When my DIL was planning her wedding, she was so overly-focused on the minutiae of the preparations and was trying to orchestrate and micro-manage every aspect. On the wedding day, she woke up with a migraine headache and was forced to stop the early morning rehearsal, stop thinking, surrender her worries and take care of herself.

The wedding was beautiful, on Puget Sound at sunset,  in a beautiful park. It had been a chilly summer, and, since the wedding was in September, the expectation of co-operative weather was very  low. However, that day, the weather was perfect-in the mid-seventies and clear skies.

There were lots of unplanned moments--her brother, who was officiating, lost his voice, the carpet for the aisle started crinkling and made for some harrowing moments (the flower girl tripped and fell, then, when she realized that people were laughing, she started falling down on purpose and had to bribed to go to her seat), and her father had to do a little impromptu jig when he realized that he was about to step down on her train after walking her down the aisle. It made for a very human experience that just couldn't have been scripted. We were just one mis-step away from being a hilarious youtube video. In the end it was the perfect reflection of who they were.

The bride's mother and I were called up to light a unity candle together, at the opening of the ceremony. It was very breezy, and I was fully convince that this could not possible succeed. As we held our individual flickering candles to light the single unity candle, the unity candle blew out--I was right there, and it was out and sending up plumes or smoke. Unbelievably. the flame momentarily flickered adn  revived and remained lit for the entire ceremony.

Our families have different religious traditions, and we were combining our traditions of  the Christian unity candle-lit by the mothers, symbolizing the joining of our family, while standing under traditional  Jewish chuppa (canopy), symboling a home. We  are not particularly religious, but there was certainly a Higher Power present that day, albeit one that had a questionable sense of humor!

Kiwi, thank you for sharing your story of the wonders of life's imperfections. I heartily agree with you...life is what happens while you are making other plans  (said by someone else-don't know who)

Molly, I am very glad that you felt comfortable enough to post your feelings about the blarty (blog party). I think that is a testament to how great the people on this blog are. Clearly, not everything suits everybody, and you were very respectful in explaining how you handled our celebration.

The bar is low, while I am neither retired nor on disability, I find it offensive that you would characterize people who are retired or disabled in such a negative fashion. Just because someome is retired or disabled, does not mean they are not wonderful, intelligent, fun, witty, productive, busy, generous, compassionate, sympathetic, caring, socially concerned, valued and valuable members of the human community. Your words certainly implied otherwise.

I think the blarty was great fun. The posts were very clever in that they called out so many of Kate's ridiculous and cruel and hypocritical actions, words, and behaviors that I feel have been really harmful to her children and others.

I think it is very telling that she is only alone with one of her sons when she has to take one for a medical appointment, or like the recent tweet about an emergency visit for a few stitches. It is apparent that the younger children are her 6-pack and as such, get treated with a diffident group mentality. Sometimes she breaks them into gender triplets but only the little girls get her attention. And now that she has made the twins 'her girls', the younger children will be increasingly shut off; the twins will be expected to do her job.

There is nothing of substance on her horizon; she can make audition tapes and write chapter books out the wazoo, but they will not sell, or bring her the sort of career she serks. It is telling that she still describes herself as a television personality, and equally telling that she has no insight into her toxic personality.

So true! My fears, when it comes to my kids, will never be about not being a good enough mom. I am not perfect but I know I do my best with them. And I am blessed that my kids overall do recognize my love and the time I spend with them every day.

Someone mentioned Oprah earlier. Many years ago, she had Maya Angelou on one of her shows. Maya said something that has always stayed with me, especially when I am with my kids. She said that one of the greatest gifts you can give your kids is to have your face LIGHT UP when they enter the room and you see them.

There are many days that I am worn down from work or the stress of being a single mom ... And that is when I remember what Maya said. I will always have that smile and show joy for my kids. And I make every effort to show it to them every day. If my kids see that I am sad or stressed, I make sure they know it is NOT because of them. When my kids think of me, I want them to picture me smiling, with my face lit up with joy for them.

Another jog of my memory today... thanks you guys! When I'd come home from school, I'd open our kitchen door and my mother would get down on her bent knee and stretch her arms out to me, with a smile from ear to ear. I'd kiss her on her cheek and she'd tell me I put a hole in her cheek (from kissing so hard).
That was so many years ago and I'll never forget it.
Kate's kids never light up when they see her and more often than not, she scowls at them. I can't imagine! "You're lucky I'm here or else you'd be standing in the parking lot alone!".

Heide -- Just delete them. When you right-click on the sample title on your Kindle it brings up the menu -- buy this sample, add to collection, etc. At the very bottom, it says "Delete this sample". Scroll down to that option (it will highlight) and click on it (center button). That removes the sample. You can delete a blog, if you subscribe for any on your Kindle, the same way. There is a great blog called Free Kindle Books and Tips, by Michael Gallagher, that you can subscribe for. It's $.99 a month, updates several times daily, and has lots of information on Kindle uses and problem solving, as well as free and cheap books you can download. If you are interested, you can get a free 2 week trial of the blog. Just search for it on Amazon and subscribe. Another good blog for free and cheap books is Books on the Knob.

The comment about the retired and disabled was a hit below the belt to the posters who are, and not at all a mature thing to say. In fact, it implies discrimination. I am neither retired or disabled, but I wasn't aware that those who are retired or physically challenged are not in a position to contribute to an intellectual discussion on a blog and therefore they lower the bar.

Laughter is an instant vacation, and personally, I'm thankful for laughter, except when the Rumspringa comes out my nose.

Kate can be so dumb. When the person at the tweeting party asked her about DWTS, instead of lying and saying that she was relieved, what she should have said was, "I'm disappointed and would have given it my best shot. I wish only the best to those who were chosen." Honest, simple, to the point, and nobody could have found fault with that.

Wow, just holy wow. That would be my last visit to Target and I'd go on a mission to let everyone know about such discrimination.
In fact, there have been so many photo ops at Target that I now associate the store with Kate. I don't avoid Target because of it, but it certainly would give me no reason to patronize.

Dear Kate,

Several years ago I was at a shopping center in Springfield, Illinois' capital. A car pulled up to the closest available parking spot (non-handicapped, not a fire lane) and a beautiful woman got out. She went into the store while a uniformed officer remained in the car. She shopped, she most likely left with a package or two.

She was Brenda Edgar. Since I know you would not know who that is (and I really don't expect you to, truly), I will tell you that she was the First Lady of the State of Illinois. She was very well known, her husband was very well liked.

She shopped quietly, assuming no more about her
visit to that store than any other person there.
No special attention, no phone calls ahead, no
closing down the store just because she felt like shopping.

Are you taking notes, Kate? The only celebs who have stores closed down for them are members of royal families. And maybe a few jerks who think they are more special than the rest of the world and who just tick people off by their faux specialness.

Tucker's Mom said...

It just goes to show that Kate's suddenly embracing her "fans" and loving every single of of her Tweeties is just an act to once again change her image in media.
I think Kate poured on the tweetie love and changed her tune so she'd get a show "helping" others, which is so antithetical to some who has professed not seeing anyone around her.
Something tells me that Table for Twelve mom doesn't ask for store security and areas to be cleared before shopping at Target.

I'd rather have a Tasty Tuesday (or any other name/day) so not to be reminded of Schmoopy. JMO.

And now that she has made the twins 'her girls', the younger children will be increasingly shut off; the twins will be expected to do her
job. 36

This may go beyond laziness and have a devious component. The more responibility the twins have for the younger kids, the less likely they
are to say they want to live with their father. We KNOW she guilt trips all those children. (sheeple, this is MY belief).

@@@@@@@@@@@@

Yes, hard to believe that happened in the past year. I love Target but, if they bowed to Schmoopy's request, I'd be writing and calling the management ASAP.

I live near Billy Joel and while I haven't seen him in Target, he's often in the village shopping or going to restaurants. No bodyguard, people smile and let him (and his very young girlfriend) be. Also, quite a few tv shows and movies are filmed around here, especially this summer, and the actors are all around. I saw Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) in Starbucks recently. They're always polite, happy to pose for pictures, if asked. It's only Kate who makes going out in public such a big deal.

She does not seem to be able to think ahead. A logical thought process -- if I do this, then this or if I say this, then this. She appears to live exactly in the moment. Her frustrations and her satisfactions and her fun -- all NOW. That's why she has sabotaged so many of her opportunities. She is incapable of building on the moment to make the future.

Fido that is really nice to hear and reminds me of another first lady story I've told before. Maria Shriver first lady at the time, walked into a very small pet store with her boys and I'm really glad she still permitted me to shop in the same aisle because I was out of dog food. No fuss.

Oh and her bodyguards, two of them, stood OUTSIDE the door where they should be actually looking for anyone who might hurt them. Doing bodyguard-ish stuff but not interfering with anyone else who just wanted to shop.

I don't understand the whole Target scenario. Is it because she is the only "celebrity" who shops there, and because she mentions Target so much in her CC blog?

Years ago, I worked in a bowling alley and Sunday during the winter was one of our busiest times and we always had a waiting list. Harry Chapin was a frequent customer and he would come in with his kids. The first time he came in, I told him I would make sure he got the next available lane. He asked how long the wait was and I told him about an hour. He then said "put my name on that list-I don't expect any extra consideration".

At about that same time, I frequented a deli where Billy Joel was a regular customer. There would be times when it was very busy and you had to take a number and wait to be served. Billy would just walk in, take his number and wait like the rest of us.

So again, I ask why does Target coddle Kate? She is and will never be as much a celebrity as HC and BJ. I just don't get it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I think it all started with the tups. Oh, poor Kate! she's got 8 kids and oh it must be so hard for her, so let's bend over backwards to help her out. What started with genuinely nice people offering to help turned into entitlement.
I can't imagine Kate ever turning down special treatment if offered. Remember this is a woman who has gotten freebies of every kind, yet resells at consignment shops instead of offering what she never paid for (and I'll be never counted as income) to charity.

I think Target (and the people at Ted Gibson and Deanna the makeup artist) continue to coddle Kate because they are watching to see if she makes some kind of comeback. If she does, they want to demand their share of recognition for being loyal to her. It's not because they like or respect her, it's because they think they might be able to get something from her. We all noticed that Ted Gibson never contacts her, and Jason only responds to her--he does not initiate contact. Then, when Ted G heard a rumor that Kate had a dating show, he reached out to her. And then when he realized that she actually didn't have a new show in the works, she was stuck in a chair with the other mediocre customers, being worked on by some nobody employee. No Ted, no Jason. You know that if the dating show was a reality, they'd all be fawning over her in a private room, and trotting her out to Fig and Olive for dinner. I wonder how long it will be before they decide that subsidizing her hair care just isn't worth their time. Maybe they'll foist her off on a lackey, brush off her cries for their attention, and suddenly had other plans when she wants to go to F&O. Or maybe they already started (last Friday). Ted and Jason are businessmen. They are out to make money. Not fuss over some has-been who is now just an unemployed divorced woman with too many kids. Might as well comp Octomom's hair. She gets more press.

I agree completely that any preferential treatment given to Kate would be infuriating -- and downright passé, for that matter. No D-lister should close down any store (or aisle, in Kate’s case). Even at the height of their fame, the Gosselins had no business dictating who could shop in the same stores as they (kids’ shoe-shopping episode anyone?). But am I the only one who finds it utterly hysterical that the only store that seems to continue to roll out the red carpet for her Kartness is Target???? Don’t get me wrong, I shop at Target on occasion. But last I read, real STAHS get preferential treatment at, dare I say, more “high-end” stores. Wake me up when Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, or Miu Miu close their doors for a private Gosselin shopping extravaganza. Closed down an aisle at Target? I’d be cringing with embarrassment if I were Kate [for multiple reasons]. But then again, narcissists don’t feel that emotion, do they?

The store is opening itself up to a lawsuit and, at the very least, some really negative publicity.

The potential for a backlash shitstorm is huge here!

If it were me, I'd likely even be pissed enough to blog about it and to call all the TV and newspapers. Kart is insignificant.

The store should expect some punishment in the form of bad publicity and a complaint letter to the mayor, the president of target and ... well, she now....... she just chaps my ass.

Oy. I am glad you posted this.

Years ago when I was a fairly new SW working in mental health, I had a client who had a young daughter. On the occasion of her baby's first birthday, she became very upset and withdrawn, Took me days to get it out of her. Seems the older ladies in her family and her beloved church said the baby was behind and she needed to "sweep that baby up". My client didnt know what that meant and was told she needed to chase the child with a broom, constantly wapping the baby with the broom until she got up and walked away from it.

My client was distressed and had limited coping skills to begin with. She felt her child was doing ok as was, and would walk soon enough without being 'swept up' by her mother and a broom.

It was a thing for ME, trying to be careful to validate her as a mom without denigrating the older ladies of her culture. Her child was actually very bright and happy and doing very well!!!

A regime for child abuse, indeed!

I can't! :-) It's not discrimination when everyone is excluded from the store. It would be if they said only black people can't come in when kate is there or only Christians or whatever. But allegedly, they're saying no one can come in when Kate is there. And they're also not saying you can never come in,--it's only when Kate is there. That's not anything what discrimination is.

Here's PA's définition of discrimation:
For the denial of services to be illegal discrimination, it must be based on someone’s race; color; sex; ancestry; national origin; religious creed; handicap or disability; the use, handling or training of a guide or support animal for disability; or relationship to a person with a disability.

"Everyone who is not Kate" is not an ethnic or religious group. It's just a lucky group is all.

Looks like I'm in the minority....I think it's pretty amusing to uncover the layers behind what he puts up.

Ducking now....:-)

I got a charge out of the closet party. You guys are a hoot!

Over In Berks said...

+++++++++++++

There was a lawsuit a few years ago in which a teen dressed in full-blown Goth attire entered a store and was told that he presented the wrong "image" to other shoppers and was asked to leave. The staff wouldn't wait on him. A suit was filed. He won. It had nothing to do with being disabled, race, his ancestry or sex, or because of his religion. The shop-owner also lost on appeal.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Over in Berks, right, that is my whole point. They specifically discriminated against someone. I supposed you could argue Goth is a religious creed. I assume he did but can't find an article about it online. You're saying there would be discrimination if they excluded everyone but Kate. There isn't. It's not the same thing at all. They're not excluding goths who want to shop with Kate or gay people who want to shop with Kate or Hispanics who want to shop with Kate. Everyone is excluded.

If it were discrimination, every time they shut down a store out here for filming, which just happened at the local pawn shop, I could file a discrimination suit because I can't shop. It's not going to happen.

On a less creepy, less Single White Female note, I'm scratching my head over the "you're all just a bunch of disabled retired folks acting like juveniles" comment. I think Kate not getting on DWTS all-stars was a crushing disappoinment over at the barnyard and some of them contracted mad sheep disease.

Layla and Flight of the Kiwi, I am so sorry to hear about your losses and I was inspired to hear how you overcame them. You are both so strong, bless you both.

Readerlady, thank you for the info yesterday on doggie barkers. If my new girl does have a barker, the dog who lets us live here, Madame Sleepy du Grumpette will coax it out of her. When she's not sleeping and snoring, she's barking!

I had to laugh at the post about the DIL who tried to have every minute of her wedding planned and orchestrated to perfection. I went to a wedding yesterday and I heard the bride did the same. She had a the pre-wedding intinerary for she and the girls yesterday planned to the exact minute. Her mother just shook her head and prayed that her daughter won't have a nervous breakdown when they have kids. Her Dad said she's not anal, she's sphincter. Kids these days...lol!

I was home all day today, had TLC on and they were doing a marathon of Hoarders. If anything, that show makes you want to get up and clean!
But that's not the point of my post. I must've seen a commercial for Honey Boo Boo's new show at least 12 times, and it just makes me sad. When the announcer says something along the lines of "If you thought Honey Boo Boo was crazy, wait til you meet her family" I want to throw something through the TV. That little girl is what, four years old? Calling her crazy!! If I were that announcer I would refuse to even utter those words! I think that she is being exploited way more than the Gosselin kids were. Or maybe as much, just in a different way. I can't believe that anyone would want to watch that show. That little girl may be annoying, but it sure isn't her fault. She is encouraged to act the way she does, and her parents are being rewarded for it by getting a TV show! I will never understand it, and I hate to think what Honey Boo Boo will think of all this when she gets older. Will she be embarrassed by the way she acted, or will the dysfunction continue for generations in that family?

I've been checking out Twitter and the non-fans are still going on and on about how the kids wear school uniforms and therefore she couldn't have taken them shopping. They have to select their slacks, shorts, skorts, capris and shirts, and TRY THEM ON! It would be foolish for Kate to buy these items only to have them be the wrong size and return them. This is part of the school uniform, yes, but they have to buy the correct size and choose a style that they like. It's not as simple as ordering a school "uniform" (plaid jumper or kilt) from a website or the school store.

Moreover, they need clothing OTHER THAN SCHOOL UNIFORMS! They also need shoes, jackets, undergarments, sweatshirts. etc.

Sadly, and this is way up there on what makes me the most upset about the G kids existence- it doesn't matter what they think or how they feel.

Why would she stress herself, take them shopping and cause herself a panic when she just buys what she wants and the kids have to wear it, even when it's falling off them? Kate does the thinking for them. The tups probably haven't set foot in a store since filming stopped.

My mother treated me this way somewhat, but her sister, my aunt, was as rigid with her kids as Kate is. When you give your kids no say and constantly diminish them and their feelings- not to mention trying to mold them in your image of acceptabilty, you get teens with green hair and 41 piercings. Every damn time and twice on Sundays. Just like Kate was convinced TLC was going to film her complaining, flapping her arms and screeching til the kids were 18, she also doesn't think she will get defiant kids who rebell in epic proportions. To this day, my cousins are very troubled, very complicated adults.

Didn't J&K get new furniture from Lane when they moved into the konpound? Can you imagine how grateful a military family would have been for that furniture or another deserving individual/family?

I have to laugh-out-loud at Kate bending over backwards to kiss laura's ass for actually claiming that she was a dream to work with. Kate finds it "refreshing."

What will really be refreshing is when ALL of Kate's REAL horrible behavior is put out there for the record and she won't be able to do one ding dong the witch is dead thing about it. Confidentiality agreements and pricey Hollywood boutique lawyers be damned.

Fleecing The Sheeple said...

I'm not so sure about the Pinocchio/liar reference, although that may be part of it. I think the song refers to Kate's sudden shoot to "stardom" -- she wished for it and she got it. She thought that her entire life would be changed for the better because of it, all the while she ignored the miracles in her life, those eight children with whom she was blessed, and who she used to get the lifestyle that she had wished for.

The second stanza of the song is "Like a bolt out of the blue, fate steps in and sees you through," means that fame came very fast to her, but karma (fate) is just around the corner.

Maybe I'm over-analyzing!

Hmmmmmm.... Mobile marketing can be many things, but I wonder if Laura is referring to that subtle as a 1,000 lb. boulder product placement that used to be on the show.

Kate- "what are you doing Jon?" Jon-"I'm just looking at my HP laptop and checking out our State Farm insurance coverage to make sure we're fully covered. Kate- "Oh ok, I'm going to get the kids some Juicy Juice and Kraft Cheese Nips for a snack. When you're done looking at our State Farm coverage, could you count out 5 Kraft Cheese Nips for each kid while I pour out 6 splashes of Juicy Juice?"

Admin, in the spirit of Kate;s attempts to portray as a nice person, and her desire for a dating show chronicling her search for Mr. Right, why not do a thread about "nice" she is to the man in her life? My first example: the episode where Sara Snow visits. At the end, Jon and Kate are talking about how Sara said "There's a lot of love in this house". Jon is on the interviewing couch with Kate, and he is agreeing with what Sara said, that yes, there is a lot of love in their house...and Kate reaches over and slaps him in the face!
If that were a man, slapping his wife in the face on TV, and the wife later divorced him after years of such abuse, how do you think the public would react to him wanting to do a "dating show".

I don't remember Lane ever being showcased on J+K+8, but I believe at the time, their image was yet to be tarnished and they were still in good standing with their Christian/no reduction image, which was pre boobs, Ed Hardy, chain-smoking, gun-toting, crotch-bearing, uber tanning, teeth veneering, partying 'til the wee hours of the morning with 8 kids in their beds at home.... you get the picture!

I wonder if Kate is taking the twins to Florida to meet her cruisers, and making a little vacation out of it. Sounds like she only took M&C shopping (vacation clothes?), and she'd have a lot to get done this week with all the kids (back-to-school dr appts, eye exams, uniform shopping, etc) before leaving. She'd get back just in time for them to start school, so maybe she's cramming it all in now. Since the cruisers were supposed to meet M&C, then she can take them along, go out with the cruise people (all two of them), and stay on for a little beach time. Didn't she recently tweet someone something about, "If I do make it to the beach, there will be bikini photos"? Remember, she never just says something randomly. It looks like Laura was coming to Philly today and thought of Kate. She gave Kate a shout out on twitter and walked into a shitstorm. Seems innocent and random enough, maybe Kate WAS actually pleasant and cooperative around this woman!

It's a 'rare treat' when Kate acts this way, though. Getting free swag, even expensive swag is no guarantee that Kate will be grateful, gracious or behave like a mature adult.

Kate's been kind to people at times. She's not a raging lunatic every single hour of every single day. But she certainly behaves badly enough often enough to say fairly that overall she is a nasty person.

Right. The Gosselins got a boat-load of free furniture to connect Lane to the Gosselin "brand" vis a vis "mobile marketing".
Whatever mobile marketing she's referring to, I couldn't know since it can take on many forms. But, yes, there was a deal and J+K capitalized on this freebie and many, many others while their name was a positive brand to connect to.
No wonder Kate dragged Jon to Dr. Phil. They had a lot to lose and I think Kate knew and cared about that more than Jon. The ol' gravy train has to keep on a chuggin' along.

@JosLindholm @Kateplusmy8 Kate had pedophiles film the kids naked and on the potty. It scared them into becoming potty trained.

When did this happen? Was one of the film crew convicted? I thought it was just the editor who had access to the film clips. I didn't know what a pedophila actually filmed the kids. Where did this come from?

Scared them into potty training? How? If this isn't true, then this is a rather egregious statement to make -- stating that these kids were actually filmed by a pedophile. Why would someone say this?

Kate's new CC post is titled "Kate’s Tips on Saving on Pools and Swimwear". I won't post the whole thing here, but her last point just shows how stupid this woman is.

•A last important perk / cost saver of having a pool is that it’s instant entertainment in our own backyard that equals or supersedes the fun we can have at a local park or entertainment facility – at a tiny fraction of the cost! Add a homemade barbecue, grilled up by this mom and the day has all the ingredients necessary to create lifelong summer family memories. Sometimes the most inexpensive things create some of the best memories, and this is definitely one of them!

How in the world does she think having a pool and barbecue is "inexpensive"? Does she think that everyone will just run out and get a pool, because it's so "inexpensive"? She really does boggle the mind.

So, according to Kate's CC tips, we should all run out and purchase 3 cars for each adult/licensed driver in the house (saves on gas!), and have an inground pool put in. She is dumber than a box of ricks, isn't she? And CC pays her to say these things????

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Given that you can usually get discounts at local grocery stores or your workplace, there is no way in heck the cost of that pool is less than a day or two at the amusement park. Not a chance.

A pool is a money pit and devalues your house and there really is no debate about this. I bet you couldn't find a single solitary article out there about how a pool saves money, except for Kate. The question is really can you afford a money pit. No one ever advocated to get a pool to save money! What a completely tool and idiot. She is one of those parents using the pool to babysit and as an excuse not to do anything fun with them. Lazy parenting.

I have also suspected that Kate and the twins are going on the cruise. If that's the case, I have to shake my head in disgust.

Who cares if she goes on a trip and takes all the kids, but even when the cruise was open to fans, there was never talk about the younger ones going.

Those six kids are the reason she has the means to take the cruise in the first place. They are the only reason she lives in a mansion, has three cars, and ditches all the kids on a regular basis for "travel". So even if she really is not going, she planned to take a cruise without the tups.

It's not really surprising that the twins are now the favored ones. They are older, more mature, and they have taken on a lot of the grunt work that Jon used to do (that is, when the nanny is not there). Also, the twins are a reminder to Kate of when her life was happy and fulfilled. The younger kids are now a pack of noisy eight-year-olds who annoy her.

Layla said...

Oops, that was "box of rocks", not "box of ricks". I need a nap!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Betsy I don't really take much issue with her just taking the twins on a trip. The tups have gotten lots of special treatment and perks throughout the years the twins did not. And the girls need to have some time separate and apart from them.

What I take MAJOR issue with, and this is IF she is going at all, which we don't know, is canceling on her fans then going anyway. If she were going to go anyway why can't she just do the fan cruise???

This is akin to canceling a concert because you are "sick" but then playing it anyway but not telling anyone. Now all these fans who bought tickets or paid for travel lose out. It's just crazy.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Oh here's another dirty little secret about in ground pools. My parents have one and while they don't regret it, the problems with it are rearing their ugly head now that the kids are grown and moved away. They would like to get rid of it now since they're doing a lot of maintenance for not a lot os use. But it would cost thousands and thousands of dollars to fill it in, really more than they can justify. So instead they are bleeding out money for chlorine and utilities and other maintenance, not to mention all the time they put into it keeping it clean.

It's not an option to just let it sit there, sheeple. You'll get fined for not maintaining it in most towns. It's a health hazard, it attracts mosquitos if you don't keep it up, it looks unsightly, and next thing you know you've got a fine from the county in your mailbox.

A pool is a fine choice for many families but for god sake don't go into it thinking you will save money.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Next she'll be saying the best way to save money is to buy a McMansion and be sure to get a screening room so you will never have to go anywhere like the movies, since everyone will have so much fun inside.

What an idiot and a half. What is wrong with CC???

Once a Viewer said...

That is a crazy CC blog. It really slaps the mediocre readers in the face if they are not fortunate enough to have a pool. Also, Kate's kids seem to get bored easily. I guess that's from the way they were raised, treat after treat, entertainment spots, trips, guests, sports events, shows, toys etc. My kids were rarely bored in the summer and could think of things to amuse themselves on their own, without a pool! To say her savings are based on 'requiring' a week's use of towels and suits is ridiculous grasping at straws to fill the column. The whole topic is not appropriate for a savings blog people might come to for actual ways to save money.

I agree Admin and I don't want to diminish home pools in any way. I think they're fun, but they involve work and money. My neighbor next door inherited one when she bought the house. There is just not a year that goes by that she isn't getting some work done on it.
If we lived where the summers are longer and hotter, I'd consider it but for now I'm happy to join the community pool. I go, I swim, I sun a bit, I relax and read, I meet and chat with folks and then I go home and leave the maintenance to them.
The cost isn't that bad at all. It's not a country club type of thing. Just a pool where people bring their families to socialize, throw lots of parties for the kids and participate on the swim team.
Again, this is so basic but it bears repeating... those kids never get a chance to socialize. Kate controls everything when they're not with Jon.
Yes, a handful will have 41 piercings, pink hair and maybe a pregnancy or juvy time once they begin to exert control.

Kate may have decided to switch to a salt-water pool, but TLC paid for it!?! How is that saving Kate money? Also washing swimsuits and towels once a week is just gross. Doesn't Kate have more then 1 or 2 towels per child? Bet Kate has a clean towel each time. This blog is just plain crazy and non saving ideas. Time for CouponCabin to let Kate Gosselin go!!!!

------------------

admin, it was a question. I thought maybe I missed something and since there had been a change in the film crew over the years, perhaps something was going on. I knew about Blankinship, but I thought he was just an editor. When the statement was made on Twitter, I questioned whether he was present at the filming. I don't know too much about him, and wondered whether he was on the scene or if he just did the editing, or if there was someone else involved that raised red flags. It sounded a bit "off" but nothing in the world of TLC would surprise me.

I mean, how does one come up with this stuff...and for what reason if it isn't true?

tate said...

I would bet that Kate and the twins are going on the cruise (or a cruise of some kind). That was probably part of her deal---she and the girls would still get a freebie cruise even if the fans didn't purchase enough tickets. She may not be getting a cut of fan tickets, but she will still be getting a freebie.

OrangeCrush said...

I refuse to read her CC crap, but to write that a pool is a money- saver, well, that's just egregious. And stupid. And for CC to print her ridiculous and ill-formed advice is equally egregious. Let's not forget who actually paid for all the perks, and now, she blithly ignores the real costs of upkeep. And it's another bs excuse for keeping the kids isolated all summer, god forbid that they interact with children in the community. She really is a self-serving tool, and all this tweeting about how she NEVER gets enough rest - maybe you should get your thyroid checked, 'cuz you have more free time than any mother I know.

It makes it sound like that was her plan all along, to find a convenient way to ditch her fans while STILL going on this cruise.

There is no way on God's green earth she will have a fan left if she pulls such a stunt. We'll see.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

They will line up, all 12 of them, and shout "Poor thing was just trying to carve out a few minutes for herself and her daughters. It's completely understandable."

Watch for it. Bank on it.

She ALWAYS takes a knock down drag out trip for herself RIGHT before school starts. Then complains about how hard it is on HER for the children to go back to school when she has been #muchtoobusyandexhausted to mastermind the organizing of it all.

Wayward 175, Two more to add to the list are Kate's tummy tuck and a new range for the old house - the episode of Kate telling about breaking the glass top of her old range with pot lids and then getting a new range.

I can see where a dating show would be Kate's dream sealed with a kiss. A show focused solely on her and what pleases her. Travel - check, fancy restaurants - check, beautiful gowns and jewelry - check, children at home with sitter/nanny - check, hair, makeup and pampering - check, wine glass always full - checkeroni, men bowing to her beck and call - double check, her choosing who to send home because they don't know how to help her - check, check and check, getting paid to do all of this plus face time on television - a huge, golden check plus.

Don't know much about pools, but being Canadian I have my own expertise in winter coats, though...

•A last important perk / cost saver of having a chinchilla fur coat is that it’s instant entertainment on your own back (so soft to the touch, so fun to stroke, so gratifying to wear in front of mediocre people who can't afford one...) that equals or supersedes the fun you can have with an ordinary synthetic fur winter coat because it's always in fashion, so you won't have to buy as many coats as your are now... Eventually, sixty years from now, your chinchilla coat's price will have come up at a tiny fraction of the cost of all your other coats! Add a very expensive pair of handmade hooker boots, -as this mom would "typically" choose-, and one has all the ingredients necessary to create warm and fuzzy lifelong winter memories. 'See? Sometimes the most inexpensive things create some of the best memories, and this is definitely one of them!

Is Kate truely kidding? All manufacturers, tell you to wash you swim suites, after each swim. 1 cause of the chemicals in the water(if you have a pool) 2 if you don't have a pool and go to any beach, the bacteria from the water, plus the algae in the water will ruin your swim suite. 3. your body fluids, are on the suit, which can breed bacteria. It's also disgusting to wear a suit that has not been washed. One does not have to machine wash swim suites, one can hand wash. I wonder how many swim suites Kate has? 15? Towels too should be washed. If the kids had say 3 towels each, then when the 3rd towel is used, you wash, or something like that. I can see washing a towel after 2 uses, but the swim suite should be washed after each use. In Woolite.

Kate also contradicts herself: she says she buys swim suits over the years, then she says the kids wear the same suits.

Again, another useless blog. Stuff people already know. From the comment section: of the 3 comments, 2 negative and one a-hole supporter, who does not know what she is talking about: Kate got the salt system, while still under TLC's contract. Must be a blind sided newer fan.

Are you saying that she said on her CC blog that she only washed the bathing suits and towels one day a week? And she has a salt water pool. If that is true, that is gross. As someone who swims in salt water on a regular basis, my husband's suit and our towels go in the washer and my bathing suit goes in a sink of water with some Woolite as soon as we get home from the beach. As much fun as the beach is, you feel nasty with salt dried on your skin and in your hair. Your suit and towel have the some stuff on it. I can't wait to hop in the shower and get that off of me. We can go to the beach several days in a row, and the towels and bathing suits are washed each time we use them.

Hey Kate, you know how I stayed cool in the summer as a kid? I ran through the sprinkler.
I really wonder how long CC will publish this pablum. The bar is set very low.
Here's another thing about these "save with your excess" posts-- they smack of elitism.
DH and I have 3 cars. Yup, a spare, fun convertible that we adore. I'd never presume to tell you how I save money owning all 3 (except to buy them outright, which we did). I won't. We pay car insurance on each one, get the recommended maintenance, buy gas etc etc. We pay. It costs. Money out, really none saved or coming in with this luxury.
We have the car for fun, and we pay for it and I know lots of folks struggle to maintain their transportation, so I wouldn't insult you by telling you that "hey, when I'm driving around in my sporty "zippy" car, I check my GasBuddy app to see what gas station has the cheapest prices!" So, I can save a couple bucks or even just pennies when the overall, big picture is that I'm spending a whole lot more.

Don't forget the kitchen makeover custoery of Jamie--I think it was her ex-husband's business? How much did that set him back? $30,000, prehaps? Considering it was remodeled from top to bottom and tiled floor that extended beyond the kitchen---it could go into the thousands easily. I beleive the eating room (nonformal) was tiled also. She had 2 dishwashers, two under drawer fridges & I think I saw three ovens? 2 wall ovens and 1 regular oven. Gas stoves are not cheap either. Who brought the 4 freezers? I know GE sent her a whole bunch of electronic applicanes--I don't think they showed everyting in the eposide (sorry, I cannot remember name of eposide) but I think Kate probably made a deal with GE to get more than one of each item. They have had to come in and measure the kitchen or someone sent them the measurements at one point because they just don't send stuff at random. Therefore what you saw of Kate screaming with glee and going bonkers was fake. Completely fake.

The children got ATV's--from what company?

Crazy houses--I hope I got the name right. The website had them valued at 3,000 and up PER HOUSE.

Pool was remodeled too. Did TLC do that too?

The xmas clothing spree Jon and Kate took when the tups were just toddlers. Kate claimed they had saved up to go shopping. But I don't beleive that one bit at all because when you have 8 children and the show was on only about a year, I don't think that would be wise decision to blow $$. I should go back and check youtube if they show the total on the cashier register.

As a mother, this is why I destest Kate because so much of it was fantasy living, really. by dumb luck, they got a 'reality' show, the fans, the freebies and love offerings under FALSE PRETENSES! They were not really living from paycheck to paycheck or whatever they were using as their story at the time as they claimed to be. They would have been evicted from their house if they did not have the money to pay the mortgage. Anyone know how they were able to keep up with the house payments? They did not go on welfare; instead they used other people's money and resources (free supplies & labor) to support their lifesytle they wanted to live with no regards to whether that really benfitted the children 100%. Remember they were begging people to pay their electricity bill instead of going to the social services agency or calling the electric company to set up a budget/payment plan as most sensible people would have done?

I would love to have someone ask her how the monthly NYC trips & her vanity maintancence benfit the children. How do they benfit from that? Zero. All they have is a life-size Barbie as their mother.

Kate's tip about swimsuits:

•Over the years, I’ve collected and saved swimsuits to re-use. I also buy the next size swimsuits at the end of summer when they go on clearance to save for the following year.

And how to save on washing them:

•Going one step further, I also require my kids to wear the same swimsuit and use the same towel for a few days, if not a week. I only wash one load each of suits and towels per week which decreases my swimming-related laundry costs. That may not seem like significant savings but we save big considering that eight or more people swim at our house every day. We just hang wet suits and towels just inside the house on drying racks to ensure that drying is quick and thorough after each swim.

How do you "collect" swimsuits-is there a swimsuit exchange too? She buys the next largest size at the end of summer-what if the kids have a growth spurt and the suits don't fit? So she first says she re-uses them, and then says she buys them at the end of summer? She contradicts herself in one short little paragraph.

One wonders if anyone at CC even looks at the drivel she posts.

This is from a Forbes article on barter:

The IRS's view of barter.

The IRS starts with a down-home definition. Bartering is trading one product or service for another, whether informally and one-on-one or with multiple parties in a commercial setting. It has a storied, even ancient tradition. "Our ancestors may have exchanged eggs for corn," explains the IRS, but "today you can barter computer services for auto repair." The IRS also lists plumbing services for dental work. You name the swap, the IRS wants to tax it.

Wherever it arises, it is income to both sides, just like cash, according to the IRS. That means each side must report the fair market value of the item or services received on their tax returns. It isn't clear how much bartering goes on, or how much self-reporting there is. My guess is there is quite a lot of the former and not much of the latter."

Later in the article, it states that a 1099 FORM must be filed with the IRS so that it is included in taxable income. I sincerely doubt that a company like Lane will disregard the IRS rules because it is to their disadvantage. If no 1099 is issued, then they don't get the business deduction, except for as a gift, which is limited to $25. No reputable company would do that.

I'm not saying that there is no way to circumvent this--there always is! However, the IRS stance is that if goods and services are exchanged for promotional purposes, then the recipient must include the value in their taxable income. Why would a company deviate from standard procedure and open themself up to potential penalties? It just isn't reasonable.
