Kate Gosselin: 'Nothing tastes as good as thin feels'

Is Kate encouraging the pro-anorexia movement?

Kate continues to be a horrible role model for teen girls and women. Her latest is this tweet, where she told a fan that this slogan (words eerily similar to what got Kate Moss in hot water) was one of her many mottos. In September, Kate tweeted a similar rallying cry: "Can never be tiny enough lol."

In light of all of Kate's young, impressionable fans, we plead with her to retract her comments and to stop saying things like this.

In 2009, another Kate, model Kate Moss, told fans she lives by the motto: “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” The slogan was adopted by many pro-anorexia web sites. Moss was blasted by a variety of people in the industry, including other models and the groups Say No to Size Zero and Beating Eating Disorders (BEAT). The Advertising Standards Authority, a regulatory group in England, even banned t-shirts with the slogan.

Anorexia is the third most common chronic illness among adolescents. 24 million people suffer from an eating disorder (anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder) in the U.S. A survey of female college students found that 58% felt pressure to be a certain weight, and of the 83% that dieted for weight loss, 44% were of normal weight.

I think that Kate's need for caffeine is a sure sign of a drinking problem or maybe even abusing prescription drugs.

Kate just recently stopped tweeting at midnight when many thought she was ''drunk tweeting''. Maybe she needs to start drinking earlier and that's why she claims she goes to bed at 9pm! Whatever the case, she has changed her habits. Didn't a former Nanny state that Kate drank a bottle of wine every night?

How does a woman with 8 kids run 10 miles a day like she claims? No amount of coffee is going to give her the strength to do that...It makes me think she takes drugs to do that too. I might be wrong....but I might be right...

BTW, I agree with Bill's Mom, Starbucks coffee tastes burnt, the absolute worst out there.

The benefits of coffee are usually about straight black coffee, which few people drink.

Raising my hand here! That's the only way to drink coffee. Otherwise, it's "do you want some coffee with your flavored creamer?" That's not coffee!

When you add fatty creamer and sugar and other additives to it like most people do, I would think it would actually increase your risk of diabetes and a host of other problems.

good thing I don't add sugar, and I use coffee mate powder creamer :) But good point.

Kate's world is so small- she has nothing relevant or meaningful to talk, or tweet about. She would be far more interesting as a soccer mom. Hint, hint, Kate.

I believe Starbucks admits to burning the coffee beans to give it their distinct flavor. (read that somewhere.) I love their Latte's but can't handle their regular coffee without tons of cream.

Yes, and it's not only on Valentine's Day. Parents do their kids' school projects for them, buying elaborate poster boards, expensive supplies, and turning out professionally crafted projects.
))))))))))))))))))))
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Also true for science projects, and, my personal favorite, the Pinewood Derby races in Boy Scouts. The boys each receive a blocky pine model car, which they the paint and race on a track. At least, that is what we thought. IT is actually a competition for the dads, who not only paint the cars and decorate them with racing stripes, they also  weight them so that they are more aerodynamic. My poor son's just wobbled partway before falling off the track! It was very sad, but, for the following year---lesson learned!

Of course, we don't have to worry about that for Kate because her kids would never do anything mediocre  like scouts and the tups' science projects are too advanced.

Note: My son was in scouts more than 20 years ago. I am now aware of their restrictions against gay leaders and atheists. I wouldn't make the same decision today--I regard those as civil rights violations (just my personal views). Wish it wasn't the case--my son loved Scouting and learned a lot of great lessons.

Kate has said on numerous occasions in response to Tweet questions that her favorite coffee is Wolfgang Puck's Breakfast in Bed (there's another designer brand she favors as well, I can't recall the name). These are coffees that probably don't go on sale much. So while her blog today is not only short on real cost-saving tips, as so many others have pointed out, neither does it deal truthfully with the extra expense that Ms. Designer Everything incurs due to her oh-so-refined tastes.

If only she lived what she preaches, she might have a chance to build this Coupon Katie image. But through her voluminous Tweets and her ridiculous blog, she manages to contradict every virtue of the Frugal Supermom that she is trying to portray for Coupon Cabin. Just doesn't add up. She needs to pick ONE image and start working very hard to keep it up in all of her "public" forums.

Keurig vs Coffeemaker
My husband and I get up at different times of day. I love having a fresh hot cup of coffee, and I like strong coffee. I would have to use an espresso maker to get the strength I like--too much work in the morning. I have a Keurig up in my bedroom and I can control the strength by using less water and Tully's French Roast K-Cup, which is a very dark roast.  I have a cup of decaf around 3:00 PM, that I also make in the Keurig.  This is my one big luxury and I am a total slug in the morning without it. We recycle and compost everything and I just refuse to feel bad about it.

Also, I need to have coffee in me in order to safely work a coffeepot. It is surprising how many things can go wrong that can end up with a puddle of hot water and grounds all over the counter. Yes, I am that bad in the morning....

Gotta comment on the Girl Scout cookies...for seven years, I was a girl scout leader, the cookie chairman, a service unit director...all of those jobs are volunteer positions. Did my girls get something out of girl scouts? yes..
But, did you know that the girls(and their parents) slog through hours of selling cookies door to door, booths, etc., then delivering cookies...and the troop keeps MERE pennies of each box...where does the vast majority of the profits go?? SALARIES OF DIRECTORS, STAFF, etc, that have no interaction with the kids..
If you want to help your local girl scout group, donate craft supplies, places to host fun events..offer to come to a meeting and share your interests..if you like their cookies, that is okay to buy them, just be aware that most of your money is going into pockets of those who have no interaction with these girls that are doing all the WORK.
rant over!

Yes, that is true. But, it is a fundraiser for the individual troops and they depend on it.  I don't buy the cookies, I donate what I would have spent to the troop directly, at the cookie tables set up outside of the grocery stores.

When my daughters were Girl Scouts, one of the 'cookie moms' embezzled all of the money and left town ($200-250.00). The national GSA didn't care or help the troop in any way. They were on the ropes for the expense, and, of course, they take their share of the difference between the actual cost/box and the price charged. The troop had to make up the shortfall out of their own funds (that is, the parents' wallets. No reflection on the local troop or their leaders. However, people would probably think twice before buying them if they knew how little they got. Same as those wrapping paper drives at school and sports candy bars. Maggies Mom--do you know if the national GSA council requires participation in the cookie drive?

I always wondered how a place that became famous for coffee could have coffee that tastes so awful.

If anyone is looking for an alternative to non-dairy creamer, cream, soy milk, or milk... If you're trying to stay away from dairy and chemicals, try unsweetened almond milk. It's low carb, low calorie, has calcium and manganese, and is (I think) delicious! I get the vanilla unsweetened.

My mother forced me to go and participate. To this day I haven't bought a box of cookies. Maybe I'm bitter but I never saw any friendship or fun activities besides coloring or paying a dollar two once a week just to attend.

If that's Kate's post for CC and it' all about her love of coffee, what it does for her, her reason for getting up is coffee and all that...why is she not fired yet? She brings nothing to further CC because it's all about her. How is she employed with them again? Why not just drop her? I would. When you work for someone or a company you are supposed to promote them, not yourself. Like the employee you hire who ends up spending all her time on personal calls on the company phone, would you keep them? Probably not. You'd fire them.

I was in GS for several years, until between music lessons and church youth groups and other activities I didn't have time for it any more. Several years I qualified for free weeks at GS Camp because I sold the most cookies. I was lucky :>) . This is  a 36 year old healthy adult woman that gets AT LEAST 7.5 hours of sleep every night during the week and much more on her kid-free weekends. During xmas dinner my Proctor silex died, and no coffee, I was gonna go to Dunkie and get some. I did end up going to Target and getting a $9. coffee maker called: Chef-mate, it makes 2-12 cups, and it works just fine. I also have a permanent filter, in it. For some other coffee to try, Targets dollar section has coffee for I think they are $1, I had peppermint, vanilla kaluia, all kinds, enough to make 2 pots. I use 8 o'clock coffee in the maker most of the time. Sometimes I get the beans and grind it. (I have a small bean/nut grinder). Kate advice is nothing new or helpful. Those Kerigs are expensive, so is the french press. An inexpensive coffee maker works the same as an expensive one, difference being name and programable ones and if you like to have flavors.(we had one of those at work, it was $10 for a month worth of K-cups). We also had a regular maker. My Vet has one like that with k-cups.

Does anyone know if Kate allows her children to participate in class holiday parties? I was trying to figure out why she would go overboard for V-day, when a thought occurred, maybe she does it to compensate for not allowing the kids to pass out Valentine's at school, that way no one can have a 'Gosselin' souvenir and make money off her children. Or she just really likes this holiday.

Admin -- coffee has a substance in it called theobromine (so does tea, for that matter). It's similar to theophylline, a bronchodilator used to treat asthma. Side effects of bronchodilators include shakiness, rapid and/or irregular heart rate, nervousness, nausea, and headache. Sound familiar? You may have developed a sensitivity to theobromine. Or, you may be taking a med which is related to it and the additional boost from the coffee put you on overload.

Sigh, why is she always dumbing down her kids? I can't imagine an 11 year old would be impressed with a picture book and a sock monkey.

I was actually thinking even some of the 7 year olds (almost 8) might feel they would rather have an easy chapter book and skip the stuffed animal. This is surely the last year picture books and stuffed animals are going to fly for some of them--even if kids still like them, they always want to be big kids and will often act like they don't and would be embarrassed.

Some of their comments made me shake my head. Their silliness was some of the worst I'd seen. That silliness combined with all the sophomoric comments did me in.

I would also bet she got smart after the drunk tweets made their rounds and figured it's better to shut down the shop early so that she can swill in peace.

#humblebrag ;) Hey Kate, I have a coffee maker that makes ten fresh brewed cups of coffee in four minutes but I dislike you so much that I'm not going to post the brand name. BTW, cloth ears, good job of throwing Keurig under the bus.
*********************************************
Something tells me Kate's CC post today was a big 'ol FU to Keurig.

She twatted/alluded that they sent her a new machine, but she must have found out later that Keurig will pretty much send a new machine to any mediocre joe. Just like wanting a free tummy tuck AND new boobs from Dr. G., Kate is never happy with what is being offered. She has to push for more. I suspect she tried to get Keurig to comp her with large quantities of kcups and they (wisely) took a pass. Now she's pissed and making sure they know she has the reusuable kfilter. I think the Starbucks mention was a last ditch grift for free coupons.

I was thinking about the sheeple this morning after reading some of her tweets over the weekend. One asked if she was going to do the scavenger hunt and she answered no.

They watch the episodes over and over and think that Kate is the supermom that she "played" on TV. All those "traditions" that were depicted were only because their "real" life was being filmed. Kate thought the show would go on until the kids were 18-so she would have the PA's help and everything would be filmed, therefore paid for.

Now that she is experiencing life without TLC they have all gone out the window. But the sheeple think that she is still that same "character" (Sorry for so many ""-they are making my point).

There are many TV characters that I have been invested in over the years. I still cry everytime I see the MASH episode where Henry Blake dies. The difference is that I know they are characters played by actors. I don't think the sheeple can. The way they go on and on about how much they love and miss the kids is just weird.

Another thing I notice is that she never takes random pictures of each child individually. A normal parent has pictures of little Johnny riding his bicycle, or little Annie climbing a tree or playing with toys. I have 4 kids and other than a few group pictures on vacation or when the youngest was a baby the majority of my pictures are of each individual child! Her's are always groups of 3-6 or all 8. That is another question they are going to have for her when they get older. Where is the picture of me learning to ride a bike? or Where is the picture of just me...fill in the blank???

Sorry about the long post-I am just rambling as I miss my oldest daughter. She transferred to a college 2500 miles away from home last month-in Langhorne, PA!

So tomorrow, is Kate going to struggle to get herself up out of bed and crawl over to her life support (I mean coffee) so she can later then Twitter about how much time and effort she spent making sure every last item her kids touched was in the shape of a heart before she sends them off to school? Then she can brag about how all the kids made her a Valentine's Day card at school and how much her kids love her? And how we should all know just how incredibly special Kate feels to be the mother of 8 kids? Gosh, I mean she does so much we should all applaud the poor *single* mother who will then crawl back into bed after running 10 miles in the snow to complete her heart-shaped exhausted day?

Kates V-day celebration was actually nice. I am surprised for once that she didn't go over the top. She did a "normal" celebration of any mom if you ask me.
Each kid got a book (maybe she will actually READ with them!) and a small stuffed toy (you know the germy things she hates?).
Her breakfast was on a heart cake, a heart shaped muffin, one piece of bacon and a few of them had about an eight of a scrambled egg.

The amount of food is amazingly stupid though. I was never a big eater, but had two brothers. No way did any of use only eat that, even at age 2! I would think that an egg each, two or three pieces of bacon and/or a muffin with some juice would be apporaching an appropriate amount of food for a kid their age.

One thing we can definitely expect the deeper Kate sinks into her well-deserved obscurity: more and more of her six fans coming over here to make snide, snotty personal attacks on regulars here. Ignoring it seems to be the best approach.

Kate tweeted a picture of the kids' breakfast this morning and I have to say, I was pretty shocked at how tiny it was. I'm not in favor of piling up the food on kids' plates, but damn! That's supposed to hold them over until lunch??? Most kids got one slice of turkey bacon and a tiny heart-shaped muffin. (And I do mean tiny.) That's it. Two plates have one single spoonful of scrambled eggs. Maybe M&C, because they are 11, get a whopping 150 more calories with their breakfast.

If she just added a spoonful or two of eggs to every plate, and maybe a small bit of fruit, it would be more appropriate. Come on, Kate, can't your little Oliver Twists even have half a banana? The breakfast she served is the right size for a three or four year old. Why can't she figure this out?

She's going to have some issues with kids hoarding food, stealing food out of the kitchen (I'm sure she has draconian rules about the kitchen and food), and bingeing as they get older, if she's not already having problems with it now. How is she going to severely control the food portions of three teenaged boys, for instance?

Windy City Gal said...

Khater, I too am shocked at the portions. How the heck can those children be sent off to school with a breakfast like that? It looks like a sample you'd get at a grocery store! How on earth do they last till lunch?

Actually it perfectly legal for the Federal Government to use appropriated funds to provide coffee pots for common use areas for their workers. They don't provide the coffee to go in them though that's what the office coffee funds are for. Maybe this particular office took a vote and decided on the Keurig because depending on if they run 24/7, they might want the luxury of a fresh cup on demand. The Government does provide coffee to the troops though depending on their mission and where they are stationed. As I said though, the coffe, cups, creamer, sugar etc. are normally bought through the coffee fund which workers contribute to if they want to drink the coffee and/or water (the Government does not provide bottled water to its workers).

Go stir $hit somewhere else along with believe it or not and all your other alter egos.

I was really thinking that Kate's V-Day celebration looked very nice with the table all set for the kids when they came down for breakfast. Her constant promotion of the "event" seemed very odd until it all made sense:

Kateplusmy8 Kate Gosselin
Speaking of love, I'd LOVE if you would cruise with me...(and Cara and Mady!) this summer! Hurry! Time is running out! kategosselincruise.com
1 hour ago

So, here's the end game; Kate wants more mediocres to sign up for her cruise and is using her kids to entice them. Those girls should not have to work on their vacation and they certainly shouldn't be used as a trained seal exhibit (come see Kate play on the beach with her kids!).

I hope the kids one day learn how to eat family style and pass plates and bowls of food instead of having their every meal plated for them. It's time for that social training, and time to about double their portion sizes. The portion sizes were anemic.
It's a shame that there seems to be a portion control issue with Kate because she does make some good meals (everyone uses a can now and then) that are well thought out.
I'm from a family of only 2 kids, and we always were served dinner family style. Does having a large family with lots of siblings incompatible with putting food on the table and expecting children to serve themselves and pass the food around?

Tucker's Mom said...

Well, the twitterverse is also astounded at Kate's tiny breakfast. She's now saying that they get a bus ride snack and that breakfast is light because it's 6am. What?
I hope their snack is a club sandwich ;-)

mscatie said...

Tucker's Mom, LOL.

Sorry, but I don't get Kate's thinking. If they REALLY do get a bus snack, why? Why not serve kids a hearty meal (no pun intended:) at the breakfast table, have them brush teeth, and then they're good to go until lunch. Why am I ever surprised with this woman? It's craziness.

Dallas Lady said...

So, if she fed them a normal breakfast, they wouldn't need a bus snack on the way to school. Seems like it would be MORE hassle to pack eight bus snacks AND all their lunches, when you could just serve a normal breakfast and pack a lunch.

Or better yet, let them buy their lunch at school and actually experience some choice and autonomy for once in their lives AND take that extra item off her to-do list. Win-win.

She's so dumb.

Dallas Lady said...

Oh, and when I said that I hoped that the kids' snack was a club sandwich, I didn't mean 1 divided by 8.
My dear mother would just stress if I didn't eat a good breakfast. She really wanted me to start the day with a full belly. One slice of turkey bacon is not enough protein to get 'ya going.

I'm a little amused by the amount of s*** stirring that's been going on here. Are the fans getting bored with the lack of activity on Kate's part? Seems like it. They love to brag about how "Kate keeps going and going and going...", but lately, she doesn't seem to have anywhere left to go. And, apparently, neither do her followers, so they end up here. Too funny!

Canuck said...

?? I thought she said they went through BOXES of cereal, DOZENS of eggs, POUNDS of bacon, LOAVES of bread at breakfast - every day! Am I mistaken? That breakfast would be enough food for a 2-year-old in my experience, and I was never into overfeeding my kids - they were very capable of letting me know when they were satisfied. (Saying this to deflect the sheeple accolades that will undoubtedly praise her for preventing obesity in her kids!). I'm beginning to think this is a lonely, solitary woman totally out of touch with the rest of the world. Perhaps she honestly doesn't know any better because she doesn't seem to have friends, her Mom, or anyone else around her to bounce ideas off of. When my kids were small I learned a lot from my own mother, my sisters, my sisters-in-law, other moms I associated with, etc. This is how I learned what to do with my children in many cases - in others, my own instinct led me in the right direction. Kate doesn't seem to possess either of these things. Her arrogance, along with the praise she receives daily from her few regular fans, perhaps masks the fact that she really has no clue about children and how to raise them. Just my opinion.

I just looked at the picture of the "heart-y" breakfast. Hearty is the last thing I would call that. Those food portions are not only pathetic they are scary. Is that seriously all she feeds those kids in the morning? And What, the ones who don't like eggs just get nothing. What about cereal or oatmeal. Those are just as quick as eggs.

If this was supposed to be a "SPECIAL" breakfast that she spent the week planning and started preparing yesterday, than I cannot imagine what they get on a daily basis.

I also, do not believe they have a snack in the lunchbox for the bus, or if they do, it is probably a little piece of fruit or something. These kids must be so hungry at school.

This is SAD Kate. Here you are showing off your pictures, so that you can try and come across as Mom of the Year, but all you've done is prove you underfeed your children. A mini muffin and a piece of bacon. Give me a break!

So now she is saying that 6 AM is a light breakfast and that they have a bus snack. Why not just a good breakfast and no bus snack. My buses have never allowed eating or drinking, primarily because the bus driver has to make sure the bus is clean after every trip. My little kitty gets a bigger breakfast than that. I doubt very seriously there will ever be any danger of those kids eating her out of house and home with those tiny portions. Poor kids. At least they will get some valentine treats at school today.

Paper Plates Forever! Yay! said...

Kate is all about portion control now that she is a stick. When one restricts themselves of calories and only eats rabbit food, they project that on to their kids. That is exactly what she is doing. So scary. I agree there may be some eating disorder issues with some of these kids down the road.

I've seen the DVDs at my church and they are very good. But definitely geared towards pre-schoolers (3-5 year olds). I seriously doubt her 7 and 11 year olds would be interested in watching 'baby' videos. No...this is only about Roma Downey's husband, TV producer Mark Burnett. Kate has been dissed and ignored and alienated from the Hollywood scene, due entirely to her own diva attitude and horrible behavior. Roma Downey is being used. Plain and simple. Ex-Nurse - I understand what you mean about science projects and Pinewood Derby, although I will say that in my son's case, he and his Dad worked together on the car, from the design (including the science behind what makes the car go faster, etc.) to the actual woodworking. When powertools were involved, my son did what he could depending on age and that increased as he got older. That, in my mind, is part of what the activity is about in cub scouts - Dads and sons working and bonding together.

As for Girl Scouts being restrictive, as a parent who does both let me say that GS does not have the same policies as BS and they have a "No Discrimination" policy. I can't speak for other regions, but in Northern CA, I know several women who are both GS troop leaders or even serve in the GSNCA council. GS also welcome transgender youth as well. Again, that is official policy and I can't speak on different regions in terms of how they implement (or don't) the national policy. Also, like any organization, you will have troops that are cliquey - it really depends on your leaders so you can find a better troop or you can step up and form
your own troop or volunteer to be a co- leader and try and change that cliquiness.

Sorry, I'll get off my GS soapbox now. Have to get kids to school.

Kate went berserk saying it had never happened before. WTF? She'd had eight babies and she'd never had to clean up that kind of mess? I do not know how those kids would have survived if there had not been a freaking team of people raising them for her. Her job has always been to plan, make lists, and let other people do the work.

And when she does have to do something like make a meal she takes a picture of it because she's so damn proud of herself for accomplishing something that's routine for anyone else. You'd think she'd have grasped the concept of motherhood by now, but nope.

Why in the heck would she photograph the breakfast? Maybe the kids aren't hungry at that time of the morning - some of mine won't touch a thing, not even toast and cereal. I can understand that. She's stupid to photograph it, knowing that it's going to bring nothing but negative comments. She's proud of that breakfast? I hope she didn't stay up all night making whatever is (or isn't) on that plate. It just makes her look stupid, needy, and crying for attention.

I think Kate serves her children hardly any food because she has an unhealthy eating disorder. Personally, I don't think it has to do with hoping to grift free food. She is always talking about calories and her food intake.

I think she was really trying to show off that "hearty" breakfast and it backfired, thus the "bus snacks" comment.

I truly think Kate has control issues over her own food as well as her children's.

I let my daughters snack whenever they want IF it is a healthy snack like a cheese stick, yogurt, fruit, etc. They can have them anytime throughout the day. They are even allowed fruit if they are hungry before dinner. They don't eat out of boredom. They eat when they are hungry.

They are also allowed not too "healthy" snacks like pretzels and goldfish crackers, etc in controlled portions.

I really believe there is a problem with child obesity in our country, as I'm sure a lot of you do, and I think a lot of it comes from children snacking on unhealthy snacks like cookies, etc all day long. Adults have that problem too. Some people snack out of boredom or because they see the food sitting there. I know people like that. So I do understand controlling snacking. However, a healthy breakfast is NOT something to be controlled like Kate does.

One fan/supporters of hers tweeted in Kate's defense that enormous portions aren't healthy. They aren't, but neither are meager portions. Give those kids a big hearty, healthy breakfast! That's their fuel for the day. Those poor kids.

(Kate needs some help posting legibly on Twitter -- our translation: "I make a.m. protein shakes for my 10-year-olds for breakfast and I have one too occasionally.")"

So, we have heard that she goes through boxes of cereal and dozens of eggs a week, then, protein shakes and, now, a muffin, 1/4 of an egg, and a slice of turkey bacon. Glad we got that figured out....She really needs someone to keep track of her mouth!

What a flaming idiot. She's going to be desperately tweeting this same line when the kids are 18. Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!

It's over, Grifter. The whole world knows what you are now, and nobody who matters cares in the least. Down the drain you go. It can't happen fast enough.

Get a job, take a parenting class, start taking responsibility for your own future and your children's. That's the only hope you have of salvaging the mess you've made of your life.

That breakfast was miniscule! One bite of scrambled egg, teeny tiny bite sized muffin and one slice of turkey bacon. Kate has serious food control issues PLUS I think she is trying to control her food budget. She can spend freely on her Starbucks and organic fig newtons, but can't let the kids eat too much. What happens to all of those eggs the chickens are producing? I guess all of the egg whites are earmarked for her egg white omelets that she seems to live off of. Sick.

Agree with everything you said Kokomo. And I think lots of moms would understand that some kids won't eat in the morning. The big difference here is that she goes on to say (many times) that her kids eat her out of house and home. AND reported, not that long ago, that as mentioned above - she goes through many boxes of cereal, dozens of eggs, bacon and loaves of toast *every day*! This is why she gets people so worked up - she's a habitual liar. (And my understanding is that she's been working on this Valentine's breakfast for days...!). She is a PR nightmare - no wonder she has been cancelled and has not (likely will not) find a job in the entertainment industry. I don't believe she is a very intelligent woman. Crafty, perhaps...dishonest for sure...but not very smart. She is throwing her own future down the toilet, all by herself.

All this talk about their breakfast not being enough for them reminded me of something I read a long time ago.

At one time there was a discussion going on that one of the kids, I think one of the boys, was discovered eating his lunch on the bus on the way to school in the mornings. It is possible there is a rule about not eating on the bus because it was said he was trying to hide what he was doing with his coat.

Does anyone else remember this? It was a while ago so I am thinking it might have been on the other blog that was very popular at the time.

Dallas Lady said...

Remember how, on the show, you'd see her dole out like three grapes and one cracker to each kid for lunch? She got flack for that even back then. The kids were about four, I guess? And that was their LUNCH.

And then another time, they were guilty of eating fresh strawberries sitting on the counter (I think this was at the beach house when they were on vacation) and she lost it on them, yelling at them to "QUIT EATING!"

Well, geez Kate, maybe if you'd GIVE THEM ENOUGH TO EAT ONCE IN A WHILE, they wouldn't pounce on food like a monkey on a cupcake.

I've often felt quite sorry for those kids, but it hit a new low this morning with that pathetic picture of their breakfast, which was nothing more than a light snack for a 7 year old, hardly a meal for a four year old.

I think tate is absolutely right. And having had a mom like this, I've seen it up close and personal: all the good stuff is saved for HER. The money, the bulk of it, is spent on HER and her only. The nice things? HERS. NOT for the kids. Narcissists are by their very nature incredibly selfish people and must take take take everything they can get their grubby paws on.

Once when I was about eight years old and my brother was six, we went to a pot luck dinner at a friend's church. My mom got in line first, got her plate filled and then sat down. My brother and I got in line a bit too late and were at the end. But that was ok, I was doing fine getting my stuff. My six year old brother was struggling a bit handling the large serving spoons and balancing his plate, etc. I had to go put my plate down and rush back to help him before he spilled it all over himself. We finally got settled down with our plates at a different table than our mom's. (We avoided being near her as much as possible.)

I will never forget overhearing a woman near us commenting on our mom. She said she couldn't believe "that woman" got her plate filled before her kids and then just sat down and didn't concern herself with us at all. I looked over as she motioned to me and my brother. I felt embarrassed at the time, but later felt sort of happy. Someone noticed!

Now, of course, I know that I would notice that, too. I always made sure my daughter got her plate first before I got mine. All good parents I know look out for their kids in this way, their needs before their own. But back then, I didn't fully realize how much my mom didn't really care about us.

And there were only two of us! It must be even easier for Kate to dismiss all her kids when she sees them and treats them like a pack.

Kate is a twit said...

Yesterday, she tweeted a picture of of the eggs she got from her chickens, saying the chickens were in "overdrive".

Today, she tweets a picture of that measly breakfast.

So she had more than enough eggs to give each kid a portion. What does she do with all the eggs, if the kids don't get to eat them? Unless a hard-boiled egg is the bus time snack.

Seems like it's more important for her to get her morning coffee fix, than it is to serve them a good breakfast.

There is something wrong with this woman, other than the obvious. She's gone on and on about her fabulous Valentine's Day breakfast, how much time she's spent on this day, and what is there? A mini-muffin and a piece of bacon on a plate? Each kid gets a book and a sock muffin, and their little pouches filled with surprises. How long could that take? This is exhausting? She was so excited about this? The kids were anxiously awaiting this morning?

Kate never should have done this Twitter thing. We knew before that she was a bit "off," but we now see that she's MORE than just a bit "off." Twitter has proved it. All this has done is set the stage to show how much she craves for attention, how many lies she has told (example, the dozens of eggs, ten thousand loaves of bread, etc.) and that she's dying for any attention she can get. Why does she have to make everything she does public? Who does this?

I'm honestly beginning to feel sorry for her because she is a pathetic, dying reality show star who is grasping at her last lifeline for survival -- and its not working. In fact, we see just how desperate she is.

Has anyone heard how the cruise is coming along? Any new suckers signing up? Is Cindy still out there hawking about what a fantastic opportunity this is for fans to have a nail-painting party with their idol? I would think that the masses would have signed up by now, all twelve of them.

I remember hearing something like that. If that is true, then that would be heartbreaking. The boy ate his lunch on the way to school because he was hungry over a meager breakfast. So, so, so sad. And to try to hide it, so he won't get in trouble with Monnie Dearest, is horrible. Those poor kids, having that monster for a female parent (can't use the word "mom" regarding Grifty). Not only does she control the food sizes like the pic she posted today, but even when the kids are in school she wants them to EAT THEIR FOOD IN ORDER...seriously? Who the hell does that?

And we can't forget her caring what the camera captures, then letting the world see that her kindergarten/1st graders are still in high chairs.

Of course moms make sure that their kids are fed. After church, we go out to a buffet restaurant. The kids get their plates filled first, and I make sure that they have everything they need, and then I fill my plate. With all of the getting up and down, making multiple trips to the buffet table for the kids, there are times that they are almost finished with their dinners by the time I am sitting down with mine! I don't think anything of it. It's common nature.

I have to think of that line in "A Christmas Story," where Ralphie's mother is trying to eat her dinner, but keeps getting up and down. He says that his mother hasn't hot a hot meal for herself in 15 years. I know the feeling, and it's all part of being a mom. I love it.

I think what is being called a 'scone' or a muffin is actually Kate's version of a heart shaped pancake.
She had tweeted yesterday that she cuts the heart shape OUT of the pancake using a cookie cutter.
I only wonder if she lets Shoka eat the scraps or tosses them down the garbage.
That meal is pathetic and no child could survive on just that until lunch time. (presumably eaten at noon - 6 hours later).

People even said if she would feed them enough at home, they wouldn't have to dig into their lunches on the way to school. I feel like she even addressed it on Twitter or something, and that's how people knew.

Red Sky At Night, yes Cindy is still hawking the cruise on Twitter, even changing her twitter handle to KateGosselinCruise or something like that. (Her regular user name is still the same, of course, you can change your handle at will.)

I saw the pic of breakfast: is that all the kids get? one heart shaped muffin(must have taken Kate all afternoon to do thoses), one strip of bacon: (I remember kids usually eat about 2-3), and a tablespoon of eggs, hardly what, I would call a filing breakfast, no wonder the kids eat a second breakfast on the bus going to school. Kate is still the control freak, and control freak food police. After all they eat her out of house & home, being 8 hungry mouths to feed, God forbid, Kate spend her money on feeding her kids, she gives them just enough, I think too little, there is not left overs or extras in that house, nor does she cook extra either. We have seen how Kate uses food, to control her kids. Kate still does everything for them, even only giving them measured food. Kate still thinks of them as babies/pre-schoolers, not capable of getting and servicing their own food, from a plate. Kate thinks they will make a mess, and take too much time. Cause they might miss the school bus, cause Kate has to go nowhere. 7 year olds are quit capable of serving themselves, pouring their own milk/juice, setting a table, washing dishes and doing some cooking/helping in the kitchen, even children as young as 3. How are these kids gonna learn anything if momma keeps doing everything for them. I think Kate has hit that, moment that every mom hitsand hates, probably several times, in your child/childrens lives, when they are not babies anymore. Kate they are school kids now, not pre-schoolers as you had call them this past year. Your rationing of their food, makes no sense, your complaining, that they eat too much is not justified, when you give a rationed food plate, then say they get a second breakfast/snack on bus, going to school. If you let your kids, serve themselves, they know how much they can eat, they possibly won't be eatting you out of house and home, or having to be call 8 hungry mouths to feed.

An excerpt from the "Jacket Snacking" post dated 4/22/10.

" resisted the urge to get angry but wondered why a half-hour after eating a HUGE bowl of warm oatmeal and a half of a banana for breakfast they would feel the need to do this. Was it because they couldn't resist the special home-baked dessert in their lunches? Was it curiosity as to what was inside? Or could they really be HUNGRY?

If the reason was the latter, I needed to do something fast! I can’t have my babies riding away in the big yellow school bus with hungry bellies! So last night, I spent an exciting evening with piles of Ziploc snack bags surrounding me and various boxes of “healthy” cookies like cinnamon graham crackers and oatmeal cookies. (C'mon moms, on school mornings we can all exaggerate the nutritional benefit of certain breakfast foods chosen out of pure desperation, can we not?)"

In regard to the bolded part--isn't that exactly what she is doing? Sending them away hungry? She also said that they had a "HUGE bowl of oatmeal and half a banana" and they still got hungry on the bus. If today's breakfast is any example, those kids are not only hungry on the bus, they're starving.

If they are still hungry or starving, wouldn't you think that they would tell her that? "Hey, mom...I'm still hungry. May I please have some cereal?" These are not babies who can't talk or tell you that they haven't had enough. The question is, though, would she allow them to have more before they left for the bus, or would she just brush them aside and say that it's time to leave? Maybe they are afraid to tell her that they are still hungry.

Dallas Lady said...

THAT'S what I remember reading, thank you for finding that, Kate is a twit.

That was written nearly two years ago, when they were five. That HUGE bowl of oatmeal was probably a 1/4 cup, if what she serves them at the age of 7 is any indication. And that "half a banana" was probably a whole banana shared by four kids, not two. They probably only recently graduated up to half a banana (as seen in the RV episodes).

So yeah, Kate, your kids were half-starved on a long bus ride to school, so much so that they dug into their lunch boxes. And apparently she never learned if she would just give them a more age-appropriate sized meal, they wouldn't feel the need to "jacket snack" (sneak) or have a bus snack.

How much you wanna bet she had to get special permission to let them have a snack on the bus on the way to school? The jacket snacking/sneaking tells me they are NOT allowed to eat on the bus, normally, which makes sense. None of the school buses around here allow kids to eat and drink on the bus. Too much mess.

Whew. This combined with all her comments about being "skinny" and working out and severely restricting her own food, it'll be a miracle if they don't ALL have food/eating issues. At least some of them definitely will.

Insisting on packing and sending their lunch makes sense to me now: control. She's all about controlling others, we've all seen that. They get a tiny breakfast, a tiny lunch (that's mostly sugar, as we've seen from her pics) and the most disgusting dinners that are just cans of various foods dumped in a crock pot or pot on the stove and heated up. And she claims they go back for "fourths."

Well, YEAH, they're starving and would eat anything! Even cans of chili with cans of beans with jars of salsa with cans of corn with uncooked rice and globs of cheese on top.

And of course her dinners get "rave reviews." SHE controls all their food and when they aren't with their dad, that's ALL they get! I doubt very seriously they are allowed to get their own snacks out of the kitchen, even at 7 and 11.

Two things (I know I'm posting a lot, sitting in a waiting room isn't fun):

1. Even if that teeny muffin packed in 200 calories, that breakfast was still under 350 calories including the "100 calorie" bus snack. If that's similar to what they eat for all three meals, every kid eats under 1000 calories a day. From a quick check on WebMD:

"The average seven year old boy needs 1400 to 2000 calories a day depending on his level of activity."

For 11 year old girls, about 1800-2000.

2. Kate AND her fans seem to have always been under this delusion that she's supposed to be protected from criticism. NONE of them seem to understand that, when you are a public figure, and put your life out there for public consumption, people can and will criticize! It's just part of the deal. As someone said above, live a private life and the public will not criticize you.

Here's another thought: Kate measures/portions food, so the kids are very hungry, when meal time comes and will not refuse any food put in front of them. Including weird food combos, or some mixed-up slop she gives them. How many of you moms have sometimes trouble getting your kids to eat, well Kate figures it they are hungry they will eat, so rationing the food makes them hungry, so they will eat whatever is put in front of them , no fights, complaining or waste of food. And Kate calls herself a nurse!? I guess the nutrition part she skipped.
Don't forget those kids, go to sleep at 7:30-8pm, so the last time they ate was probably 5-6pm. That's a 12 hour plus stretch between meals, those kids are probably very hungry in the morning, by time they are through -dressing and grooming for school. This is how Kate gets those kids to eat their lunches, remember Kate had trouble getting the kids to finish their lunches, Kate solved that problem.

First thing I thought of! It must have been quite the respite from Kate to be on a separate RV with Ashley, where the kids could eat USING THEIR HANDS! and the grown ups could be regular creamer in their coffee.
I also think it galls Kate to have any leftovers or wasted food. On one hand, I get it. On the other, as a kid, I pushed enough food off the side of my plate to feed a small impoverished nation, but I was encouraged to eat what *I* put on my plate, not what my mom put there.
Mom was so adept at making just the right amount for dinner for 4. Perhaps it was because she let us kids dictate what our bodies needed for fuel.

Not to mention the fact that why do the kids have to all eat the same thing! I have two sons, both adults now. But I remember making each of them their breakfast based on what they like. Even my mom used to do that, and she had 8 kids! I remember my mom making each of us our eggs the way we liked it.

Kate's kids need to be recognized as individuals, with individual wants and needs. Wonder why only certain kids gets eggs. I suppose some of them just simply don't like them. But for heaven sakes! Give them something else!!!

Is she so dumb that she truly doesn't see the connection between all the personal 'stuff' she puts out on the Internet every day, and the backlash from anyone who sees it? The backlash and commenting is directly related to what she posts herself, thinking she'll be praised. And she is praised...by people who also "don't get it". She should not be on Twitter. She should not be posting such things. She should not be violating her childrens' privacy. And yes, I agree with all who have suggested that those kids will grow up having issues around food - how could they not? And this isn't idle speculation..this is based on everything we saw on video, and that she trumpets about herself on the Internet. It's quite sick. How appropriate this all occurs now so we can comment on the post title here "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". She is quite unbalanced, I'm afraid. At least, she makes herself look that way, and more every day.

..just ran 6.40 miles in 1hr2min...2pick up my car that was 'in shop'... I LOVE being self sufficient&running 2drop off/pick up my cars!

=================

Wasn't this the person who wouldn't even put gas in her own car, but made Jon do it for her? Now she's self-sufficient because she takes her cars for service? I've been doing that since I learned to drive, many, many moons ago. If she got rid of two of those cars, she'd only have one to worry about!

Has she made any big announcement about what they are doing on the long weekend (Friday and Monday off)? She will go nuts if she has to be in the house with them for so long. A short trip planned? I'm sure we'll hear about it.

I'll bet those 100 calorie bus snacks are those little cracker-style Oreos or Chips A-Hoy packs(or their organic equivalent). They are advertised as "100 Calorie Packs". I don't think those are meant for kids, they are a diet snack for adults watching their calorie-intake. Unless the G8 never get out to play on a daily basis and burn calories, they should be snacking on regular food, not diet crap.

Just as Kate has never heard of a My K Cup, apparently she doesn't know that car dealers/service have loaner cars and van service.
I think it's great to get a run in, but don't toot your horn about how wonderful and "self-sufficient" you are when you are blessed to have the time and luxury. Any other single working mom would have been up at the crack of dawn, first in line, to drop the car off for service and get a loaner car/rental car or take the van service to their job. Or, they would get service on Saturday. Duh.
For all of Kate's world travels, she is still quite insulated from the rest of the mediocres out there who have been doing the very same things since adulthood. Way, way, way before social networking (and over-sharing) was in the collective zeitgeist.

Dear Idiot Mother Gosselin,
Kellogs makes a product called "EGGO" (yes Kate, rhymes with lego, teehee) Tomorrow, we'd like see pics of them on your kids plates, along with a couple of those 'healthy' turkey sausages, a banana and a glass of organic milk (pry open your wallet and get some).
They even have nutrigrain waffles made with whole wheat, nutrigrain lowfat made with whole wheat, nutrigrain blueberry and nutrigrain honey oat.
Why don't you shuffle on over to Target and buy a few boxes of the stuff? You've already grifted the six-slice toaster... so now USE IT! And guess what Coupon Cabin even has COUPONS for them:

[$0.50 off the purchase of three packages of Kellogg's Eggo waffles. This offer is valid anytime, so no excuses.]

There is no way that tiny little muffin has 200 calories. Any my 2 year old would eat more food for breakfast than those poor kids ate. Maybe my son is different than most but breakfast is probably his biggest meal of the day. He's been asleep all night and eats a TON in the morning to give him energy to get through the day. As an adult I find my meals steadily get bigger but my little guys get smaller as the day draws to an end. Poor kids are probably starving!

She's counting calories for her kids? Yup, definite control issues not to mention future eating disorders for these poor children.

*************

Her tweet was in response to a tweet saying it was a 100 calorie meal. That doesn't mean she is counting calories for her kids. If you are counting calories for yourself it's not that difficult to estimate calories in others' meals.

You're defending what she served them? She spews that the kids eat her out of house and home and she has more eggs than she knows what to do with. And this is what these undernourished kids eat?

If she's discussing calories for her kids on Twitter than you better believe she's thinking about them when she serves them the crap that's in the photo.

##############

So what? She shouldn't be dealing with the calories at all. She SHOULD be concerned about the nutrition and satisfying the kids' hunger so that they can get through a VERY long school day.

Not only is she focused on the calories, but she is AGAIN dealing with ME, ME, ME ("Don't ? my mothering") and ignoring, as always, what the discussion might mean to her kids and their lives.

She's completely despicable.

I would like to share a little of what I see. FIRST, this is not an attack on anyone, for real, I mean that.

I have had a lifetime of manipulators in my life. I am very gullible and get taken advantage of all the time. I try to be kind and I trust way too many people, to my own hurt. When I have asked family members why they treat me bad and not other family members they have told me it's because they know I will forgive them. I know people think it's my own fault then, and it is. My personal reason for that is, it takes too much energy to hate them and I don't like how it makes me feel inside, harboring that heaviness in my chest is just not fun. I say all this to show that I do know manipulators and their games.

Kate is a GOOD manipulator who uses her outward mean streak to get away with being cunning. If people knows she is mean then trying to be nice they will say she is trying to change. She baits people to get a rise. She said so in her tweets. She is not only using her "good mommy" routine to get her fans praising her, hence how hard she has worked, She is using "how hard she has worked" with pictures of how "little" she has done to get the non fans also praising the Cruelle Deville. She needs to have control of all those in her kingdom world, fans and non-fans. She keeps the fans loving her and the non-fans hating her. If she can't control people to love her, she will control how people hate her. The best of both world.

Yes my friends, she knows EXACTLY what she is doing. That's why she reads here. She needs to make sure her plan is working. When the talk here starts to turn to our personal lives, her boasting or pictures show up. Then she'll come and read and see her manipulation worked. Everyone is in an uproar and the talk is about her again.

I don't believe for one second those kids didn't get seconds or thirds. It just doesn't add up to me how those kids don't look too skinny and some, healthier, for a kinder word. There is no way she she feeds them as little as she states or she eats only salads. Those last pictures tell that story. The pretty plates are for the fans and the amount are for the non-fans.

I am also very suspicious of accepting all the gifts. Could that be why she has not said thank you to some? Or why she doesn't know if gifts arrive on time. I know she is selfish and a grifter. For that matter, almost everything everyone says she is. Only I think it is her cunning craftiness to manipulate everyone. Those she can't, she throws aside so they can't reveal her plan.

When people are close they are hard to manipulate/control. Fans, non-fans, the view, and all the other media outlets are just in reach enough as to execute her plan. Same questions, same answers. Results, same praise and same outrage continue. Her and Steve just sit back and laugh and say, their putty in our hands.

Anyway, I'm done. Just my observation and experience with mean manipulators. I can never understand how I always fall for it in the beginning. Wait, if I didn't fall for it they would be manipulators. They can only be what I let them be.

@SchmeckyGirl Kateplusmy8 Try reading her Tweet again. She said her car was "in shop" meaning she had to pick it up after work was done.lol

Kate clearly tweeted:

...running to DROP OFF...her cars!

Not a sheeple, but Khate "could" put the vehicle in drive open the driver's door, put one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the frame of the vehicle and PUSH it while she "runs" to the dealership/repair shop. THAT would be a pap pic I'd LOVE to see. LOL LOL LOL ROTFLMA. Yeah, I got it that she (probably) meant running BACK home after drop off, but first reading of tweet I thought the same as others - that she ran to drop off the car.

C'mon Khate - a "cream cheese pound cake" muffin? Yeah, I question your mothering skills - Instead of sugar/butter laden HEAVY muffin (more likely to put them to sleep after eating such a thing) why not make a healthier muffin? Blueberry or banana nut muffin? Polyunsaturated oil and applesauce to replace the butter. Frozen blueberries work just fine.
