'Home Improvement' child star arrested on DUI charges, 'Harry Potter' had a drinking problem, and Aaron and Nick Carter's sister overdosed at 25

It's been a sad week for former child stars, and reminds us of some of the serious problems fame brought to all three of the following kids. Here is the round-up.

Taran Noah Smith arrested. The youngest Home Improvement kid was arrested after police found pot in his car. In 2001, he sued his parents over the money he made as a minor, alleging they were squandering his trust fund, including a house and a boat. "My mother always used to tell me to look out for the sharks, people who were going to take my money," Smith said. "Turns out she was talking about herself."

Daniel Radcliff was an alcoholic. The Harry Potter star admits he had a drinking problem. "I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work … I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.” Radcliff points to the pressures of all his obligations to the public as to why he turned to alcohol. "I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone. I was a recluse at 20.” Radcliff also reveals how he was bullied in school for being a child star, and how hard it is to go out in public and be recognized all the time.

Leslie Carter overdoses. The sister of pop stars Aaron and Nick Carter was featured on the reality show "House of Carters" with her siblings. She overdosed earlier this week.

The Carter children have had a long-standing feud with their ex-manager--their mother. In 2007, 20/20 interviewed the family (for the second time). Reporter Chris Connely asked Nick and Aaron, "You know a lot of people out there are saying, guys, she sacrificed her life for these boys' careers, she gave them every opportunity. These ungrateful boys." To which Aaron replied, "But at the same time, we gave her a job for 12 years."

Aaron expressed frustration with his mother's mismanagement of his money. He believes his mother did not pay him what he earned. "She's lied so much that she has to cover a lie with a lie," he said.

When Jane Carter asked what the price of fame was, she said, "The loss of my family." Four out of five of Jane's children were estranged from her, as well as her ex-husband. At the time of the interview, Aaron lived with his father. Ironically, Leslie Carter was the only child not to be estranged from her. Jane was her manager. "It's going to be fun this time," Jane said.

"Leslie, my advice to you would be, don't let mom manage you," Aaron said in 2007.

She does NOT have an autism spectrum disorder.

Unless you are trained in diagnosing and treating adults with autism AND have treated Kate, you are not qualified to make this statement.

Many high-functioning adults with autism can, and do, make eye contact. It's something that can be learned. It is not proof one way or another of the existence, or lack, of autism.

There is nothing feminine about Kate. So for me, that means she is not "hot." There's not much she can do about that, as a person either is, or they are not. And she is definitely not.

Here's an idea...maybe that "hot" tweet was meant to make Steve jealous. She's been home for a couple weeks, so there's not excuse for him to be with her. He is, most likely, wiht his REAL wife, and Kate tweeted that to remind him that other men find her attractive (even other married ones).

If this are so trained, then you surely are aware that it's highly unprofessional for a psychologist to do a "rule out" of a subject he or she has not tested or treated.

Unless you have treated Kate, your evaluation of her as a "[N.E.] Psychologist" is inappropriate, as well as potentially quite inaccurate, and your comments should be evaluated in that light.

koopdedoo, his loss of custody was based more on the fact that he lived with his perverted father. The kids were removed based on that, long ago. That family is MESSED UP. This has been a big story around here for years. Josh's father is awaiting trial next month for all the porn found in his home. When the police arrived to execute the original search warrant, another adult (and disabled) son answered the door nude. Images of female brutality on the walls. many thousands of images that the dad took himself of neighbor kids........on and on and on and on.... I just can't believe this.
Wait for someone to tell Kate and she can sympathize and say she can't imagine it because she has 8 kids that she lives and breathes for and it would kill her.

ex-nurse (#189) - my memory of the episode is similar to yours, but my internal interpretation was different. I thought that the child was so used to cameras attached to people, that it didn't dawn on him at the time that he was not just asking the live person to keep the secret. He thought it was a personal moment, and it was not
$$$$$$$$
I thought about that after I posted. But, I still remember a look that passed across his face--as if he really didn't realize it was there, at first. Any way, after that I couldn't watch because I felt like I, as a viewer, was violating the kids privacy. Yes, one of the 'dads', was behind the camera. makes it even sadder....

I don't think that it really matters what her diagnosis is. Diagnostic criteria and labels change all the time and there are so many overlapping disorders. When I worked in inpatient psychiatric unit, kids who are now diagnosed with ADD had the diagnosis of MBD--minimal brain dysfunction. But symptoms don't change. I am now diagnosing her as one HRB-hugely rude bitch!

Most people, when they become aware of a negative character trait, try to correct it. Maybe that's what Kate is trying to do. It comes off fake because she is acting-- more proof (as if we need it) that she has absolutely no talent in the entertainment arena.

A "qualified" psychologist would be one who had treated Kate, in which case making these statements would be in violation of federal privacy laws (HIPAA).

I enjoy N.E.Psychologist's posts, but these comments stating that Kate is NOT autistic, and then claiming that doing a "rule out" is perfectly fine, are inappropriate and unprofessional when posted by someone claiming to be a psychologist.

As such, they deserve to be called out.

Back to the 'hot' topic, I don't think a lot of men would be attracted to Kate. She's attractive in a Barbie way, but I find her kind of cold, unfriendly, and fishy-looking. Like her hands would feel cold and scaly. I think Layla might be right on the money. Or she was just doing this to reinforce her self-esteem. Most of her Twitter friends are young females, is that right? I guess they look up to her for some reason- I'm not sure why though!

I started watching the show, and yes, enjoying the show, because of the the kids. Then I couldn't believe how my interest changed to horror. I think I continued to watch to keep abreast of what was going on with these sweet kids. And I did feel sorry for Jon ( until his own sense of entitlement was evident) but I see he is trying to change his ways- he's not perfect, but would you expect anyone who allowed himself to be swept up by Kate and caged in a marriage to be?

Even the beautiful new house seems cold and unlived- in...I can't imagine relaxing and having fun at a party there.

So N.E. Psychologist is being called out for ruling out autism as a diagnosis for Kate yet most others here can take for granted that Kate is a bona fide narcissist? Interesting double standard.

OH another thing that I always said. Even if say only 30 to 40% of child stars end up with problems (and the reality is, it's more like 99%), why would you even RISK it.

If you are considering walking into a building that has a 30-40% chance of collapsing on you, would you chance it because odds are you'll be okay? I don't understand why KAte would even want to chance that her kids might end up like this. But she did.

****************

No, 99% is not the reality. It is a figure you are pulling out of your ass, not a valid statistic. And yes, I can name more than Ron Howard as examples of child stars who made the transition to adulthood successfully, whether or not they chose to stay in the industry. Off the top of my head...Jodi Foster, Helen Hunt, Alyssa Milano, Natalie Portman, Sara Gilbert, Keisha Knight-Pulliam, Kirk Cameron, Fred Savage, Danica McKellar, Elijah Wood, Neil Patrick Harris, Ralph Macchio, etc., etc.

While cautionary tales from Hollywood abound, the claims that the overwhelming majority of child stars are completely screwed up adults is not borne out by reality. A percentage of your high school class and mine turned out to be screwed up adults, with childhood fame not factoring into the equation. Behind most screwed up child actors you will find screwed up families. That is the common thread.

I agree, it doesn't matter who makes the diagnosis. But it bugs me when people give themselves titles on blogs. They expect to be honored because they claim to be whatever they say they are, but offer nothing to substantiate their claim.
One opinion is as valid as another and it's inappropriate for an anon to act as if we should give her posts any special weight.

===================

Exactly, Gotcha. Couldn't agree more, and that's exactly what posting under the "psychologist" title does if discussing a psychological condition.

The title seems to add authenticity to the diagnosis or the "rule out", something that is completely inappropriate, as the poster is anonymous, and has not treated Kate.

When people who are not self-described professional posts, speculation is completely acceptable. It's the title that is the problem here.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Almost all of the stars you named have pointed to some kind of issue in their childhood.

Jodie Foster has a panic room in her house because of her stalkers. A president was almost killed over her.

In any case, the fact that some stars may make it through their childhoods does not prove that being a child actor and having your money stolen and your innocence stolen is OKAY. It doesn't matter if every single child actor makes it through all right. Lots of abused kids make it through okay, is abuse okay to you too?

What I think reality TV has done to Kate and allowed us to see is perhaps her attitude issues. Even back in the early shows I felt something was wrong. Not as a diagnosis but simply because she was impatient, she snapped a lot, she complain a lot.If she was happy truly she wouldn't have needed to or have come across like that at all.

I think over the years with her need to be in control, it being allowed and with possible entitlement issues it has gotten worse over the years. Something some of the kids might pick up on if they haven't already.

Kate seems very bitter but trying to cover it up by pretending that everyone else is the problem not her. Her mantra of doing everything for my kids, they are products of myself, speak a great deal to me of a self-centered woman.

She might not need a diagnosis but Kate needs I think a heavy dose of someone with a large family who isn't on TV, who get buy on a budget and so forth. Let her see how real people do things, then where will her whining self be?

Kate is a twit said...

I find it amusing that Kate was the star of a reality show, but she can't face the reality that the only reason she is known is because she has 8 children.

Ex Nurse said...

Why is it important to people that a diagnosis be made? Whether officially diagnosed, she clearly has some characteristics of narcissism. However, those same characteristics are shared with anorexics and addicts. Addicts, alcoholics compulsive under/over eaters --really any compulsive behavior-- includes self-obsession and distorted reality.m

My personal opinion has always been that the unhealthy dynamics that we saw between Jon and Kate were typical of families in which there was some kind of addiction. I have also wondered whether Jon is in a Twelve Step program for either families ( ex. Al-Anon), to deal with codependency issues, or for his own substance or sexually acting out behavior. The sudden change in his behavior-- retreating from the limelight--after his wild behavior and public statements--is the kind of positive changes people make in early recovery.  Since anonymity is a key component of 12 Step, I don't expect to ever know for sure.  If so, I view this as a very positive step.

I have little doubt that Kate qualifies for any number of programs. People typically don't seek out 12 Step until they have reached bottom and don't know where else to turn.

Off topic - but did you all hear about Josh Powell, suspected in his wife Susan's disappearance for over 2 years? He's the jerk who said he took his two little boys camping in the middle of the night in the middle of a blizzard, and then suddenly found his wife gone when they got back. He lives here. He killed his children and himself today, exploding the house when the social worker was handing them over for a supervised visit (she got locked out, saving her life). Susan Powell's parents had custody of the boys. If you believe, can you please pray for them? If you don't, can you please send happy and positive thoughts their way? They've lost their daughter and now her sons. Tragic end to a very sad story.

Same shape, with "laces" icing, but more professionally done. I didn't see any that looks like the one she showed. I almost picked one up at Giant, but opted for cupcakes instead.

I love how she said the show wasn't vulgar at all. Sure, it was tame for Madonna, but she did have at least one synchronized move shaking her cookie in a DJ's face and I think the word 'shit' was not edited out on the second girl's performance (after Nicky Minaj, sorry I don't know who she is).

N.E. Psychologist - don't leave. Your posts are interesting and I enjoy hearing your perspective, which in the end is all any of us are sharing.

Hold on, The autism speculation has been discussed ad nauseum. I under why N.E. wanted to derail that line of discussion. I am a parent of four kids with autism spectrum disorders, including daughters, and all are high functioning. I am active in my local autism community. My background is in teaching. I am not diagnosing Kate but as I have said from the first time this was brought up, it is my opinion based on my experience and what I have observed of Kate both on her show and in interviews that she does not have any type of autism spectrum disorder. You are free to disagree with me. However, as a parent, I will say that this particular speculation really irritates me to no end. My children have enough challenges without people comparing them to Kate. So could we please drop this? If you really must continue on this thread, I'll scroll past but there are already so many misconceptions about autism, I'd appreciate not adding Kate as one more.

On another note, why is everyone so snippy and irritable? This is the second "fight" we've had here in the last two weeks. It's really bringing things down, again imo. Can't we all just get along?

Ugly isn't the word. I had insomnia last night, so I ventured over there to see what Milo was up to. She gets bolder and bolder in her demand for Kate's attention. I came across some tweets in which the haters were being brutal to a college-age girl (fan) who was disabled -- wheelchair bound, Spina Bifida. Her photo was on her account (in a wheelchair) and she pointed to her facebook...same there in an attempt to convince them that she didn't want or expect sympathy and that she was not a fake tweeter set up to get attention because she was disabled. In fact, she never said anything about her disability until someone asked her what was wrong with her legs (as seen in the photo). That started it.

Unbelieveable tweets, calling her a fraud, making fun of her disability, the most insensitive bullying imaginable. One non-fan said to her that she had Cranium Rectalis, which, he tweeted, was a disease worse than Spina Bifida, calling BS to her disability.

I only read a few of them - it was just too upsetting to read, and I went to sleep wondering where all of that hatred from both fans and non-fans comes from, and if they are parents, you hope and pray that this isn't what they are teaching their children. What goes around, comes around.

Kate would be wise to take that account down.

I'm not sure when reality televison became mainstream, but I do recall watching the first season of Survivor in 2000, yes 12 years ago. That was before the internet became the force it is today, and neither Facebook nor Twitter had even been thought up back then.

So, it would suffice to say that a fading celebrity would turn to the internet today to remain relevant,(as Kate has done). Let's admit it, she had momentum, she had a show on TLC, and she did have fame of sorts. She certainly could have used her website more effectively to sell what she has offer and translate those things in to dollars. Instead, she put up a lame, amateur website with no real content, and instead spends the better part of her day looking for validation of her (former) "star" status on Twitter from strangers.

Where are the boxed sets of her shows, her books, her recipes, all linked to an "add to cart" button on her website? Because she is so desperate to be back on television, she is overlooking what is now her apparent last opportunity, the internet!

That 15 minutes of fame is just that, you must
have enduring talent to stretch it out, but even so, knowing how fleeting fame can be. Kate had 8 children which made her famous, but talent, not so much.

And we, in a way, do keep her relevant, at least
in the sense that we remain fascinated with
how she clings to any and all opportunities that will keep her in in news. Her desperation is palatable, and we know it.

What is missing in this equation is the very thing she spews on Twitter, giving everything
her best, her all, the drive to keep going.
Yes, she will keep it all going as long as
the ideas to keep her relevant are dropped directly in to her lap!

I guess Kate doesn't consider a pelt anything like a stuffed animal? You know, space wasters?

Is it my imagination or for a woman who cries about intrusion of paps and all that to her life, she sure posts quite a few pics of her kids on Twitter for the whole world to see. You can't cry foul when you're doing the exact same thing. You can, you just look stupid doing it.

Those rugs are available in faux fur. Perhaps they aren't the real deal.

Almost all of the stars you named have pointed to some kind of issue in their childhood.

***************

Care to substantiate that claim with actual quotes?

***************
In any case, the fact that some stars may make it through their childhoods does not prove that being a child actor and having your money stolen and your innocence stolen is OKAY. It doesn't matter if every single child actor makes it through all right. Lots of abused kids make it through okay, is abuse okay to you too?

*****************

Wow, you sure can't handle having someone question the validity of your claims. I NEVER said it was okay to steal a child's money and I sure as hell don't think child abuse is acceptable. Stop accusing me of things I never stated nor remotely implied.

Where's your proof that the percentage of child actors who have screwed up lives is higher than the general population? Facts, please; not lists of names of child stars gone bad that I can counter easily with lists of random people in jail or dead of overdoses, etc.

I think it's just that there's only so much you can film about a family. I have noticed a definite outline to TLC's family reality shows. The specials establish who the family is and what makes them unique. It also showcases what a day in the life is for these families. The series start with continue "day in the life" episodes, peppered in with some visits to local area attractions and perhaps a trip or two. As the series progress, the day in the life episodes become more scripted and the family takes more and more trips. The family becomes less and less realistic and relatable.

In the Duggar's case, this was also peppered in with weddings and births, and with so large a family, tragedies and challenges as well. They truly are a real life Christian soap opera. All they need to do is to have one of the kids fall in love with someone who is Amish and I'll know they've been taking their cues from the romance section in the local Christian bookstore and/or the Hallmark Channel.

I agree, I liked the Duggars as well, although they are exploiting their kids every bit as much as the Gosselins did. Yes they are nicer and more loving, gentler parents than Kate. But Josie's ordeal, the son who recently was filmed after falling in the orchestra pit and now the miscarriage are things that should not have been filmed or aired.

I suspect the Duggars will be off TLC's lineup in another year. After Josie's birth and now with the most recent miscarriage, people truly cannot understand why Michelle and Jim Bob insist of continuing to try and have children. They claim that they will follow the Will of God. I am a Christian and I have to say, in my opinion, I think God is making His Will pretty clear and I think most people feel the same way. Also, what more is there really to film?

Administrator @ 116 One way to tell if it's real fur or fake is if it has to be specially cleaned, then it's probably real. It has been banned here in Canada because studies on it said the faux fur was actually cats and dogs being skinned alive in China (secret film footage, was shown on the news here) was shipped from China and the pelts sent to the US. We believe it is sneaking in here under the "faux fur" label "made in US"
Our Prime Minister is trying to allow the skins in, saying that since Canada clubs baby seals to death for their skin, we shouldnt be so hypocritical of other countries. Of course Pam Anderson spoke out about that! Good for her. So, if you don't want to buy dog and cat fur, check first to see if special cleaning is needed. That's a good indication.

I hope that's faux fur- I really am into animal rights, so unless they were also from the previous owner, I assume they are...the valences are ok and the faux fur if that's what you like...I meant more the atmosphere of the house was cold and unfriendly. Aren't the kids not allowed in certain rooms ( including the master bedroom, others' bedrooms and the 'good' living room?) I forget all the rules from the Big Move. What room was the 'party' in? I could never get a sense of the floor plan- seemed like several sitting rooms and several dining areas...I didn't see a pic of the twins unless I missed it, just 3 of the tups dancing...I hope they did have fun.

Kate’s Valentine’s Day Plans

This year, I am lucky to have eight reasons to celebrate the love on Valentines Day. I always do little inexpensive things to make heart day special for them.

This year, I bought a very inexpensive foam craft set at Target and I will make each of my kids a handmade Valentine. It’s a mommy tradition! I typically sit up ALL night to handmake paper Valentines for each of my kids but I thought I’d mix it up a bit this year and make them a foam art “card.”

Each year, I hang their Valentine pouches from Pottery Barn on their dining room chairs and fill them with inexpensive but thoughtful trinkets that show them my love.

I also make all meals heart themed. In the past, I have made heart shaped pancakes, sandwiches and hamburgers! This year I’m thinking I’ll make heart shaped muffins for breakfast, heart shaped peanut butter crackers for lunch and heart shaped pasta for dinner!

None of these things cost a lot, but all of them add up to mean a lot to my kids! I have always said that Valentines Day is a great day to remind your family and friends how much you love them. So, this year I’ll be busy making all sorts of fun heart shaped stuff for the 8 that I love. And, in case you’re wondering, you won’t find me out on a date this Valentine’s Day. My date is with my 8… They own MY heart!

They actually close the schools on the first day of hunting. I have seen many people take their kill to a taxidermist to have the hides tanned. They then use them as a throw or rug. I personally find them disgusting but to each his own.

Kate's Super Bowl meal looked pathetic. Does that woman do ANYTHING above mediocre? I haven't see it yet if she does. If I made those snacks I sure wouldn't post them for the world to see. The one looks like a taco dip/spread. Real original Kate. Taco dip became popular around 15 years ago. What a tool.

Jumping In (92), I think the reason she hasn't linked to her "branded" products is that she makes no money off them. I have read numerous times that she makes nothing from the sale of DVDs; I don't know if that's true of her books, though.

It's perhaps a little short-sighted of her NOT to link to these things, though, since people who would buy these items are likely to be fans, and it would be another way to shore up her "base."

Thanks Judy.

It seems to me she started doing the Valentine theme stuff in the episode where Jon threw his I Love Kate shirt on the floor !! It's a cute idea but hardly original and has nothing to do with savings...you could do much better and still be 'thoughtful' (oy- pats herself on the back at every turn) at a discount store. A few sweets, a little toy and a handmade valentine. If she's sooo organized, why stay up all night? Let's see if she actually goes to bed at 9PM Feb 13!

And re: yesterday, Katie Cry-duh, you are exactly right re: the timeline. Said she was cooking in the AM- how did she know the kids would not be hungry so not to prepare as much food? Also wasn't she organized enough not to need to go the store for supplies ( and smokin' compliments) mid-day? And I throw the towel in at her laundry remark- she says she makes the kids wear their clothes twice- C and M can do their own laundry by now...too much! Every holiday is being squeezed for self- approval and a CC column. I guess she's been so busy with that, we will have to wot for the menus....

I suspect the Duggars will be off TLC's lineup in another year. After Josie's birth and now with the most recent miscarriage, people truly cannot understand why Michelle and Jim Bob insist of continuing to try and have children
******
Well said and I agree that this may be the case. You know.... you sign up to do a RTV show and then it goes on forever and ever?
At some point you have to reclaim your privacy, or are Michelle Duggar and Kate so alike in that they both think (thought) that the show will NEVER end?
Madam Duggar has never fooled me for a moment. I don't take her religion and garb for some patina of respectability. She might as well be wearing the same hooker heels as Kate.
Both women/mothers turned into carnival barkers the very moment they signed their children up for a television show about them.
"Step right up, folks!! I've got twins! I've got a six-pack! Watch them laugh, watch them cry, watch them pee, watch them poop! You can even watch them showering!"

I enjoy professional opinions. But the poster I am having trouble with is all but demanding we take her word as being fact, while telling others they don't know what they're talking about.
You don't get to post as an anon and expect to be respected for your supposed professional training.
Read the tone of her posts.

A track record? While I believe that Admin is indeed a lawyer and appreciate her opinion based on her profession, we still only have her "word." (No offense Admin... I'm not questioning whether or not you are what you claim to be, just making a point.)

Yes, we only have people's word on who or what they are. Everything read on this blog should be based on that. I don't think NE demanded anyone takes her word as fact.

I say I'm a stay-at-home mom with two little girls. I give my opinion regarding Kate with my experience as a mother. You can argue that I'm not a mother and have no right to give my opinion.

I think any "professional" whether it is a baker or lawyer or psychologist is entitled to give their opinion. Take it for what it is, an opinion. No one diagnosed anything or gave out professional advice here. It's really not that big a deal.

I'm not sure if Admin put an end to this topic, I didn't get to read all the comments, but I did want to reply to Gottcha because she was responding to my post.

Kate, dear, that's because you do not and have never worked a full time job and can sleep in the next day. Or take a nap.
My mom? Worked all day and had no help with shopping, cooking, laundry, cleaning, lawn work etc, etc, etc.
Kate loves to put herself out there as a paragon of motherhood, but the plain fact is, she's got the luxury of not having to put in 9-10 hours of work every. single. day. without. a. break.

SG, completely agree with you. And I hope that can put an end to it.

No one here is required to believe anyone. And I think most people take things with a grain of salt anyway. Although I do know for a fact we do have a lot of legitimate professionals here based on our demographics which suggest that the majority here are college graduates and beyond.

But even a professional in your real life you might not always agree with. It's no different here. I went to the doctor once sure I had a hernia. She told me more likely it was a stomach virus. I kept insisting (I had had one before) it was a hernia and I probably needed surgery. There were further tests and exams and turns out it was indeed a hernia. Do I stomp my foot and hold my breath and tell everyone that doctor is a fraud? Of course not. It was one professional opinion. I could take it or leave it, and in that case, I left it.

Gag, gag, and double gag. What happened to the Valentine's treasure hunt tradition. Oh yeah TLC paid for that "inexpensive" tub filled with hundreds of pieces of dollar store junk.

Why does a mom find it necessary to proclaim her love for her children incessantly, as she does. I don't recall a single time in my life that I have told anyone other than my son how much I love him.

^^^^^^^^^^

Get a head-check, kHate. Your kids don't want you staying up all night (liar liar Pants on Fire) making them crappy homemade cards. They do't give a rat's ass if this year you are adding foam!

Your kids want you to show them your love by saving your energy to focus on them. Show your love by spending your time on them, not your (their) $$$ on "inexpensive but thoughtful trinkets that show them your love."

Chat with your kids about their day, not about yours.

Sign your kids up for activities like dance lessons and Boy Scouts and gymnastics and baseball, and spend your time driving them to these activities and cheering them on.

You see, kHate, you are supposed to be cheering THEM on, not the other way around.

If you would spend your time and energy actually parenting these children, then - when you claim exhaustion - we might actually sympathize with you.

Kate's proud of herself for doing what most folks do every single day. And... don't feel some strange need to pat themselves on the back for. Gassing up the car, taking garbage to the curb etc. We all do it, but who among us finds it trophy-worthy?
You know, sometimes I wish Kate would have got the "Twist of Kate" show. At least that way we'd see her doing what the rest of us do... working hard all day to pay the bills.

I'm not sure. I'll take a pcyho-couch stab at it. Overcompensation. She doesn't care about them as much as she proclaims she does.

Also, she's trying to convince us that no mother who loves her kids this much would ever exploit them, take their money, destroy their childhoods, or have an affair. How can she be a bad mom if she loves her babies this much? How could you ever suggest her babies are commodities when she spends ALL NIGHT doing this FOR THEM?

You know what, Kate would love Play Station 3. In most games you get little "trophies" for your "trophy collection." But you get them for doing absolutely nothing. They sort of just pop up in the right hand corner as you play the game and they really have no bearing on the game itself. Like if you change your character's clothes, you get a fashionista trophy. Eat breakfast, Good Nutrition trophy. Practice your shooting, Marksman trophy.

Kate should just get a Playstation and she can build a massive collection and always feel good for doing absolutely nothing.

Also I hate to say it but kids that age are going to be way more focused on what Valentines they get at school than one from mom. 11 years ago, after searching my symptoms on the internet, I diagnosed myself as having Sjogren's Syndrome (Venus Williams has this). My eye doctor at the time scolded me to stay off the internet. That HE is the doctor.

Well, turns out that I DO have Sjogren's. I just had eye surgery, in fact, due to the disease, and I kinda wish I had not let that eye doctor intimidate me. Starting to take my Sjogren's medications 11 years ago most likely would have protected my eyes to a greater degree.

His grandparents fought so hard to try to get custody of him but could only really get shared custody, a few years I think. This went on for awhile until finally she drowned herself and Zachary.

There is a beautiful and haunting documentary about the whole story made by the father's best friend, called Dear Zachary. I am praying for the Bagbys today too, I'm sure this will bring up all kinds of bad memories.

I might be coming in a little late and forgive me if the dust has settled, but it was a bit disturbing seeing N.E. Psychologist attacked by trolls the way she was. Wow. Do the trolls really think they're fooling anyone with that?

As for her Super Bowl spread, if anyone else tweeted that, I'd think "aww, that's nice. Must be for a very small party." But Kate always makes it sound as if she SLAVES over this stuff for HOURS and it's SO AMAZING (witness the new Valentine's Day Crapon Cabin blog thingie) and then she posts a picture or a recipe and we're all like "that's IT???"

She really shouldn't brag so much when the outcome looks like it does, you know?

And I couldn't wait to get on here and tell y'all how much I laughed when I read the "hot" humblebrag tweet! AHHHH!!!! She has humblebragging down to an art now! First of all, no one said that to her. She's making that up out of whole cloth. Secondly, how sad! She's reduced to tweeting imaginary compliments that she STRUGGLES to respond to! HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

I love the humblebrag tumbler/website/whatever it is. It never fails to crack me up. My favorite one was "I hate going to this gym! It's so embarrassing, people compliment my calves EVERY TIME. Going to have to find a new gym."

I mean, really. All you can do is laugh and maybe feel sorry for people like that. And Kate, sadly enough, you've reached a point so low I'm starting to feel sorry for you.

She must be fully realizing no TV show is in the works. No magazine covers anymore. No interviews that anyone is willing to air, and you know what's after that, right? No interviews, full stop.

Her Valentine's Day blog was enough to make me laugh, too. Hey, I've found a use for Kate: entertainment! At last!

She's going to make them heart-shaped peanut butter crackers for lunch? How does she propose doing that? If she takes a heart-shaped cookie cutter to saltines, they'll fall apart. She's surely not trying to say she's going to make and bake some heart-shaped crackers, is she? Because she needs to try to sell that somewhere else.

Gosh, she's SUCH an AMAZING mom: staying up ALLLLL night to make valentines for her kids! Slaving over special heart-shaped meals! And then: the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE--spending the evening with THEM instead of being out on one of the MANY hot dates she could be out on, what with her "smoking hot" body and all! What a martyr! Mother of the Year!

Ok, I've laughed so hard (while trying not to be loud) that my stomach is hurting. Enough. Obviously the criticism of her as a mother is getting to her, that blog entry is WAY over the top.

I love that. So Kate wants us to believe the children want to film and want the crew back and they are old enough to decide what they want, and yet the reality is the poor kid didn't even know the implications of what filming even met.

As Jon and so many of us have said, OF COURSE a child that age cannot possibly under any circumstances make a decision about whether she should be filmed. She is a CHILD. She doesn't UNDERSTAND all the implications like adults do. She doesn't even understand BASIC implications, like you get filmed, now everyone at school sees you on TV.

For my 17 year old daughter and our 16 year old foreign exchange "daughter" living with us this semester, I got a couple of cute gift bags and filled them with candies and other little gifts, then wrote a note to each one of them in a card.

It did not take me all night. It's already done and the gift bags are hidden away for the 14th. They wouldn't really care if I stayed up all night putting it together (in fact, that might concern them), it's the thought that counts. As for dinner that night, we're ALL planning it together, so it'll be special for all of us. Then they'll probably help me make it (especially our host daughter, who loves to cook).

Watch, Kate will spend the evening twittering away, not spending time with the kids. Why should February 14 be any different than any other day? And I'm going ahead and calling it now: she's going to tweet at LEAST once about HOW MANY THANK YOUs she keeps getting for her up-all-night (right) foam cards. They'll just be falling all over themselves to thank her, because she's so AMAZING.

I just sprained my eyeballs from rolling them so hard.

As soon as I heard the first story he told, my hinky meter went up.Thoughts and prayers for the grandparents and family left behind to try and cope.Their daughter and then the grandsons, how utterly ,selfish these acts were.

I have no idea why law enforcement could believe his story that he was going camping in the winter, at midnight with 4 and 7 yr. olds. No way I would let him out the door with my grandkids, ever. That poor family has been devastated twice noW by that ass-wipe.They were his own flesh and blood, oh, so sad and unnecessary.

The grandparents do know now that he can't hurt the boys or their Mom anymore.I can't even imagine living with that kind of news.

Kate should thank her lucky stars that her kids have a very loving father in Jon and are safe when in his care. She doesn't care about other people's pain, so her day will remain fixated on her lame actions to glorify herself.

I think the 7 yr. olds can get their own pj's on and the washer and dryer do the laundry heavy work, the help, I mean, so I suppose she is too exhausted to move to-day.

Oh,Pink, you just gave me a bad picture in my head about that slop landing on the crunchy things in their lunch bags! Yuk.... I wonder why it takes her all night to make 8 foam hearts? How is she gonna make heart-shaped pasta, do they sell it dry? or the pb crackers?

This must be her newest tradition, never heard her staying up all night before for Valentine's day. I can just imagine how exhaustedish she'll be. Guess she didn't run yesterday and will be way too tired to-day to go. Liar, liar, she don't run 10 mi. every other day, pffffftttt....

Ref! throw the BS flag on this!
Raise your hand if you were impressed with your mom's baking skills as a kid? A kid can love mom's cooking, but has absolutely no yard stick with which to measure or compare food making skills.
How preposterous. Kate constantly prompts her kids for "thank you-s" and "wow" and "your so great! your stomach is so hard".
She's just so needy. I wish she would get a date once in a while because she uses her kids for filling her needs when that's just not their job.
Kids' love is pure and simple and not measured in complimenting their mom.

Here's a story about a kid giving her mom a valentine:

When my daughter was in the sixth grade (first year of middle school here), I picked her up after school on Valentine's Day and she had a big red carnation in her hands, with a note attached. They sell them at the school and kids can send them to each other. I thought, "Oh, it's started. Some boy sent her a carnation. How cute." But inside, I didn't really feel ready for this.

She got in the car and I asked her who it was from and she looked confused, then said, "No, I got it for you." She handed it to me and I read the sweet note and got choked up. She had a chocolate bar for her dad, with a similar note.

We still have those notes tucked away in a scrapbook. And I'll never forget the feeling of realizing that, just for the time being, she was still a kid, and not someone boys were sending flowers to (yet!).

(in fact I am working on my mid-term, an annotated bibliography).
As for me, I am in the intel community, active military- want to know why gas is so expensive? It's not Obama- its Iran. Damn political games.

Are the sheeple so talentless they can't figure out Valentine's Day without Kate's help?

I am very upset with you now. I woke up early this morning, DYING to get Kate's recipes for those DELICIOUS dishes from the Super Bowl party.

After putting in numerous loads of laundry, and then rushing to the grocery store to gather my ingredients (and being accosted by a lady who said that I was "smokin' hot" - but that's another story - altho I DID have to immediately tweet that to my friends to get their reaction on how I should have reacted), I rushed home and assembled all of the recipes so I can have my own Super Bowl party today.

What? Are you laughing?

Don't laugh that it's the day after the Super Bowl...and that my kids are all at school right now and I'm by myself - well, except for the nanny and the laundry helper and my bodyguard- oops, disregard that statement - I do everything by MYSELF, of course - ahem. Of course I have no helpers. It's just me. Little ol' me. All by myself. Doing it all. Moving on.

Anyway, I was dipping into my delicious dip (I think it's dip - not sure), when I read your comment above, and now, I've SPEWED that dip all over my computer.

Sigh. Now I will have to call my computer-cleaner-up-guy to get this stuff all cleaned up, because it's really quite mess-ish.

Dallas lady,
It was very uncomfortable on the blog last night with those trolls, and the same thing happened last Sunday. I thought they really went off on NE Psych. for no reason and wouldn't give it up. They were ruling the conversation and talking only about what they wanted to.

The things they were accusing were just ridiculous and I do not know those posters all that well,at least with those names. Do you? Sorry to beat a dead horse, but NE Psych was not being heard at all and those few posters upset the whole night with their crap.I think I will stay away on Sundays from now on.

It upset me that I couldn't defend her, and I have known her since I was on Z's blog. Not once did I ever hear a nasty word or putdown or anything that would warrant such an attack on character. I still have a bad taste in my mouth.

Can anyone provide a link to the road kill pelts in Kate's house?

Ok, who said the left over super bowl food would be in the kids' lunch boxes today?

From Kate's web site "1. Nadine sent me a link to make these pepperoni roll ups! They were a huge hit! In fact, my kids each have one in their lunches today as well!"

You nailed it!

hey jude, that's exactly how I felt reading all that stuff late last night (AFTER MY AMAZING SUPER BOWL PARTY, hee).

It was pretty obvious after just a few things I read that she was being targeted and attacked.

Like you, I couldn't figure out why, but I don't think they need a reason. Pick a person, make up stuff, attack. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I suspect as Kate falls further and further off the radar and realizes it, her fans will get more and more rabid in their attacks here.

Knows Quality,

It's understandable that you had to tweet the smoking hot comment, I mean, it's probably so hard for you to deal with that, right? You can't HELP that you're so hot!!! PEOPLE SHOULD JUST LEAVE YOU ALONE AND ONLY LOOK AT YOUR HOTNESS FROM AFAR.

I have no idea how anyone can tell if it's real or fake.

Just posted on Kates website. She must need a pat on the back every hour in order to feel special. The emails are not inspirational.

Words from Fans: Ran my first 1/2 marathon…
FEBRUARY 6, 2012
Hi Kate,
Wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to register and run my first 1/2 marathon. I am a mother of 3 and a full time nurse. I ran the Surfcity half today (Huntington Beach, Ca). It was an amazing experience. You have played a role in me accomplishing my goals! Thank you so much! Look forward to hearing more from you! You and I have quite a bit more in common, but I digress. Thanks again, best to you and your littles ones!
Elaine

Great job, Elaine!
Keep running, girl! This is great news! It makes me so happy to help other women/ moms discover their love of running and love of fitness! I wish I could have run it with you! :)
Keep pounding the pavement!
XOXO

Tweet-le, I hope they are fake. peace reminded me that they sell those in Australia and I did see them there. They look to be the right size. But I hope they are fake. Even though many kangaroos end up as road kill or hunted to thin the groups, I don't like that their pelts are sold like that. I mentioned earlier that they also sell scrotum sack bags. Kangaroos are considered pests; they are everywhere.

And yes, I wear leather shoes (but I don't eat animals) so I know this stance makes me a hypocrite.
