Discussion Thread: The Finale 9/12/11

Finally, the last episode of Kate Plus 8! Oh, happy day!

Meanwhile, Kate begins a soft launch of her official web site www.kateplusmy8.com, promising more information about and photos of the children. Has she gotten permission from TLC and Jon to run such a site? Time, and the courts, will tell.

The Finale
TLC, 9 p.m., TV-PG
Kate and her 8 kids have made unforgettable memories over the past 7 years of filming. As the show comes to a close, the Gosselins say goodbye to the fans and reminisce about their favorite memories. Also, hear from family friends about their experiences.

Kate Gosselin -- when you lashed out at your ex-husband Jon for being "mediocre" on the Today Show this morning Sept. 12 because he works a "normal" job, you insulted all of us regular parents who aren't TV stars!

You made the insulting comments when you responded to Jon's comment that "reality TV is not a career and it's time to get back to a normal life."

Here's what you said to us and Matt Lauer: "It's a situation where Jon may be accepting of mediocre for his kids and working a regular job. I want the best for my kids and the best opportunities in life... and this has provided that."

What? You just told all of us people who aren't TV stars and who hold "regular" jobs, that we are "mediocre!" And that we don't want the best opportunities for our kids.

Kate -- don't you realize, who watched Kate Plus 8? It was "regular' moms and dads. Regular families. You just insulted all of your fans!

What are you thinking? Or not thinking!

99.9999 percent of "regular" families will never have the opportunity to have their own reality TV show. And they still want the best opportunities for their kids. And try hard to make them by working their "regular" jobs.

I'm sure that your ex-- Jon Gosselin wants what's best for his kids. He just feels strongly that it's better for them not to be on TV. He thinks that normal, "regular" life not in front of the cameras has value for the Gossellettes that more than makes up for all the fancy trips to Australia and Alaska.

Jon doesn't think that it's great that his children have had to work through school and summer vacations to shoot the show. And that they've been hounded by paparazzi photographers when they're getting on and off their school buses. He doesn't think those trade-offs are worth it.

You do, obviously, in fact, you told Matt Lauer that "the best opportunity for all of us would be for me to continue to work in TV as a way to provide for my family," and that you would put the kids back on TV "if the right thing came along."

"I'm sure you will see my kids again at some point."

I wouldn't be so sure, Kate. Not when you've insulted the very people who made you a star.

Many of your Twitter followers saw it this way too and you've been forced to defend yourself like this! "@forever_trust Not wut I ment.was reply2 jons comment re I should get a 'normal' job-wouldn't work4me $ w8kids kudos2allhardwrking parents!"

I watched 5 minutes, and watched Kate and Jamie and Loverboy throw Jamie under the bus for being dramatic and being a quitter. Disgusting. I'm taking a shower now.

I do not believe this show is canceled by a long shot. This is a publicity stunt. In a few months another "series of specials" will start, which will eventually become a regular series. Here are the episodes the voices in my head tell me to expect:

1. Danishes and Doghouses. Shoka gets a new doghouse with air conditioning and running dog bowl water. The kids decorate their own danish. Nobody gets to eat it.

2. Ducks and dentistry. The family gets a new family of ducklings. Meanwhile they all go to the dentist.

3. Say cheese. They all go to the organic cheesemaker

4. Oh, the horrors. Kate answers your questions about what a bum Jon is.

5. Shoes for the poor.Kate donates a pair of shoes for the poor, and is praised for 45 minutes for her generosity. She later buys 78 pairs of shoes for herself and keeps them all.

6. Tups turn 8. To celebrate, they are sent back to kindergarten, to really get it right this time.

7. Cruise to the Bahamas. Kate chases men while Ashley sits in a tiny stare room with all the kids.

8. Part 2. Kate windsurfs and screams while the kids talk about her windsurfing and screaming.

9. Part 3. Kate goes to the spa while the kids vomit over the side of the boat.

10. Part 4. The boat lurches and causes the kids to spill food on their matching blouses. Kate tells off the captain for not sailing properly.

11. Kate answers your questions. Mostly about how Jon abandoned her, doesn't pay child support and changed. The show will then be "canceled" again.

Ready for the next round?

I'm not watching her yammer. Bleck. In fact the entire past couple of weeks has made me tired.

I repeat my mantra: She is mentally ill, not capable of raising small children, and needs to be in a hospital. She needs to be evaled by the courts for competency. (Probate court, not this family judge who is so fascinated by her money "OOOO Look yer honor, shiny coins!")

Why have her parents not stepped forward like Britney Spears' father did, and get Kate some help? Are they that afraid of her? What more can she do to them, she already has removed their grandchildren from them. Never mind, I already have my strong suspicions about what else she can do to them. Sigh. What a mess.

I'm with you. I watched um, like 20 minutes, and to be perfectly honest, I couldn't, um, honestly, watch any more of it. In all honesty, she's um, certifiable and so, like honestly delusional, that I need to go out for a drink.

Kate says she is "can-do" but you know what I hear from her? It's, "I can't, I can't, I can't."

For someone who is supposedly looking on the positive side she sure says cannot an awful lot it's pathetic.

It's this, "I can't work a normal job," Okay I'll give her this one considering you have to actually, you know, BE A NORMAL PERSON! "I can't afford gymnastics/sports because I have 8 kids." That's just an absolute joke to me! "I can't change Jon. I can't make family/friends stay."

To all of you working moms here, YOU are making best choices for you children and you should be appreciated for doing your own best. No matter how insulted Kate came across. Everyone here who is a mother/father/grandparent should remember your kids will value you one day for the sacrifices you might have to make and don't let anyone tell you different! <3

I'm very glad they started right off with Ashley, Jamie and Steve's interviews, because those are all I wanted to see. Then I changed the channel, because I had already had enough of her commentary regarding Ashley. You could tell Her Highness was still taking no blame for any of it.

Nice to know that Jamie is sticking by Kate's side, although I'm sure she had to do some major foot kissing to smooth over all those snide comments Kate never heard until she saw the tape. As for Steve, we all knew he was not going anywhere anyway.

Maria said...

So, what nonsense is she spewing now? I refuse to watch, but you've made me curious.

Kirkland said...

I watched for 20 minutes and had to turn it off. But one thing I did notice, TLC is showing Kate in a better light. In the first 20 minutes, I saw the clip where Kate was kissing her kids (in the crib), on the floor laughing with the kids, and another where she is saying "thank you" to one of the boys when he said he cleaned the basement. She then bent down, kissed his head and said "You'll always be my little man", or something like that.

Don't get me wrong, I can stand the woman. But it did seem as if though she did have a few tender moments I missed.

Paula said...

That was utterly boring...turned it off after 20 minutes.

I guess these big fans don't realize that she DID a cookbook, but it was dumped. In response to BigFan's suggestion, she DID a clothing line, but that ended up overseas.

Speaking of food, if Jon pays $1,500.00 a month child support as speculated (we really don't know, but I doubt it's less than that), and his support covers each child's lunch, then that means that she spends $6.25 for each lunch. In what universe does half a pb&j, some grapes, juice and a cracker cost $6.25?

The Closer is really, really good tonight, and I have taped Warehouse 13 and Eureka to watch tomorrow. I just LOVE Kyra Sedgwick, Mrs. Kevin Bacon, and the series is so incredibly well written. The only reality shows I am interested in are Survivor, Amazing Race, Project Runway and Top Chef. Otherwise give me a well-written show with wonderful actors like Sedgwick, Mary McDonnell, John Tenney, and all the others on the Closer. Those sci-fi shows Eureka and Warehouse 13 are great fun to watch too!
How in the world can anyone think Ms. Kreider and her shenanigans be even vaguely interesting? I would even rather watch Snooki and the Jersey Shore gang! Bye-bye, Ms. Kreider - you and the Krew are essentially boring, so enjoy your boring lives in private from now on!

Wow so unless you have a reality show a child is destined to sit at home and stare at the walls?

On second thought I believe this child--Kate probably doesn't give a flying rip about giving these kids anything interesting to do unless they're filming. They said all they did was watch TV in the RVs, I'm sure that's what they do at home.

These kids had a purpose for her, money. If they're not making money, they're just THINGS to feed and water.

it surprises the hell out of me that mady has turned into a 'mini-me' of kate. when she was younger you got the feeling she couldn't stand her mother or her Krap!

of course they will miss the trips and getting everything free, but why does kate feel she and her kids rate that anymore than any other family? they have gotten way more than their fair share and don't deserve anymore. they didn't deserve all of what they got either. and if you sheeple think this sounds like I'm jellous, your values are as skewed as hers. THINGS are not what count in this world, it is how many people truly love and respect you, and we all know she has no one that does either. Stevie and Jamie are paid to be with her and look at how both of them have talked about her in the last couple of shows or is it episodes or seasons or 'whatevah'!

I watched because I have watched from the beginning- every show- every moment- I needed to see the end- just like the show LOST- when others said it got too weird- I kept watching- until the last episode.

The children are adorable and I wish them well- I always have- and always will.

I am thrilled that Jon did not appear. As always, actions speak louder than words. I am sure he is breathing a sigh of relief now that she is not exploiting those kids.

Kate could repeat the Alphabet, and I would not believe one letter that comes out of her mouth. So, anthing she said meant nothing to me.

Kate RUINED what could have possibly been the best "job" EVER. Am I right? Seriously, she really had it made! Now, nobody, NOBODY can stomach her!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

I don't think Mady is a mini Kate at all. I think the child knows what she needs to say to appease Kate and keep her standing in the family. She's figured her out.

You don't appease your mother by curling up on the interview couch with crossed arms and a scowl ala Cara and then outright refuse couch interviews. Mysteriously, she started doing them again. You can bet Cara paid for that little stunt somehow, if only by lowering her status in the ranks, and Mady picked up on it.

I don't believe for a second Mady really believes the crap she's spewing. She's parroting Kate and parroting what her mother wants to hear. We know she feels differently, look at the way she explained Kate's freak out, kind of like omg Mom's mad because we had a candy bar earlier in the day. It was obvious she knew she was dealing with a crazy person.

She's a smart girl in self-preservation mode. When your mother is a narcissist, you can fight them, as Mady did for years, and you will lose, or you can join them, and maybe survive.

Steve was describing why audiences were drawn to watch J&KPlus 8. He said the wives turn to their husbands and say, "Look honey, I'm not as stressed and mean as she is", and the husbands look to their wives and say, "Look honey, I'm not as useless as he is."

Steve clearly inferred that Jon was useless as a husband.

By the way, not that Kate is that hard to really figure out, but Mady's just a little kid--good for her for playing her like a fiddle.

PJ's momma said...

I did watch (what the heck at this point) and I think TLC is done. They filmed her saying she and Jamie and Ashley hashed it out and everything is fine. Cut to Ashley, saying she and Kate had only made small talk, nothing had been resolved and she doesn't know if/when she can be in their lives again. She regrets not saying more but wanted to protect the kids. She truly loves those kids. (Kate swears she and Ashley never had a cross word between them before this trip, not realizing that Ashley has likely been stuffing down her emotions for 5 damn years, and declared Ashley 'over dramatic' Pretty much put everything on Ashley and Jamie, like she's done her part, because she's the only grown-up.) Cut to Jamie who said that the gentle Kate with the love spark in her eye (as they showed pics of her in the early days) is the one she met at the hospital and (cue pics of makeup and hair styling products) the Kate now is only interested in hair and makeup and what she wears and how skinny she can be, and that Jamie tells her she is not Angelina Jolie, and Kate gets mad. Steve admits he thought of leaving, even early on, but he took the job. He also mentioned going home to his own kids at night. MANY shots of Kate spilling out of her tops and teetering along in stilettos at airports and other strange places. One thing struck me. She talked about when they first started getting recognized and Jon thought it was weird. A few minutes later, she said Jon was ready to quit at any time. Hmmmmm........ So he could have been trying to get them off the air for YEARS before the big blow up. Later, they gave her way too much time to talk about how she doesn't even mourn what she lost with him because 'that person doesn't exist anymore.' It only made her look like a bigger bitch, as they even asked her what the status of their relationship was for their pretend wedding renewal (and made sure to play the parts where she told them that mommy and daddy would be forever together). She admitted they 'were unravelling.' She declared now that they have peace in the house, now that their father they love is gone, and home is a soft place to fall for them. Hahaha! At the end, they asked each kid what they wanted to be, even asking one of she wanted to be an actress (no!) and every single one, including Mady (who is supposedly jonesing for a Disney career) picked a 'mediocre' career (baker, paleontologist, animal rescuer, teacher). Last telling moment? Mady said thanks 'a million times over' because without the show, they would never have been able to do any of the things they did without the show. She said they would have been a huge family, home staring at the walls. She would not know that if it had not been drilled into her head. I predict that for their future too, as I don't see their sham of a mother paying for them to a damn thing, ever again. She said that there's no way she's pulling them out of her house, out of their school.....and that will be her excuse.

One final note. My cute little dog just loves watching TV. Animal Planet sends her over the edge. Commercials with animals make her crazy. Well, she was attacking the TV every time Kate was on too! I finally had to lock her up so I could hear Kate's whining. Good doggie!

I got a akick out of yet another lie Kate told on Wendy Williams today.

Wendy asked her why she didn't branch out her brand and do a clothing line or something back when the show was popular.

Kate said she wishes she would've, but was too busy being a mom.

She neglected to mention she tried that little branching out into a clothing line thing with Walmart, but got dumped by them before it ever even took off, and the clothes that were made were shipped overseas and only offered in another country to unload them.

But Kate made it seem she never explored that because she was just too busy as a mom.

Heloooooo you liar....you were DUMPED by Walmart because they realized how badly people hate you!

Because nearly ever darn episode was about Jon doing some or other work, often hard work, around the house. If anyone was useless it was Kate, all she could manage to do was put a few pitas on a plate to feed Jon while he remodeled the entire upstairs of the house.

Well, I never hear so much lying BS in my life. I will say this, and I don't care how much Kate insists she is not, Kate has never gotten over JON. Even though she bashes him, she has not gotten over him and does wish the old Jon was back, she even said so. Her only slap at Jon was at the end, about having the kids, almost saying she did not need him for that. There was so much clips of Jon, it was almost as if TLC was giving it to Kate, rubbing her nose in it. This was more of a Jon & Kate plus 8 review than a K8. Her bitchin at him was shameful. Even Ashley & purseboy and Jamie said the marriage was falling apart and that Kate had changed. Kate still thinks that even if she could go back and change it, she still thinks the marriage would have ended in a divorce. She does not know that, Kate did not want to work on her marriage. Of course people change over time, that is the waves you ride out, like your marriage words say for better or worse, they were not in their 20's anymore. Kate said so herself that Jon wanted the filming stopped several times, but Kate put it in her head that there was no going back she got the taste of Fame. The sad part was seeing the happy times and the only thing this episode did was confirm, what all of us already knew is that Kate was the one who made the marriage fall apart, she is the blame not Jon. It does not matter how wild Jon went, after the marriage was over, or when they separated, Kate cause all of that, she put it all in motion, for fame. The kids at the end, did not seem too up-set about it ending. Only Kate was up-set. The kids seemed happy it was over. And yeah the kids will miss the camera crew, those guys played with them and not yell at them for little stupid things, or there mother ignoring them. But it's OVER! Doing the happy dance!

I've posted on the "mediocre" comment already but I just keep stewing about it. Because the more I think about it, the more livid I become when I think of my own efforts to give my kids a decent LOVING home. And I am livid that Matt Lauer refused to challenge her on her comment.

So Kate, my mediocre daughter who, as a high school junior had already been accepted into her first choice college and received an amazing scholarship offer, is going to have many many more pleasant memories of her childhood than your 8 children who were verbally abused for the world to see and traumatized by your very presence.
And my son, a United States Marine who serves this country and protects your right to go on television and insult the majority of the country; all while taking college classes at night? Well, he calls me several times a week and ends each phone call with "I love you Mom." Will you have that Kate? We, who have lived mediocre lives and given our kids medicore possessions but priceless memories, have our children's love and respect. We can go to sleep at night knowing that we have given all that we have to LOVING AND PROTECTING our children - not selling them to the highest bidder.
You owe Jon and apology for so many things but this is just the latest. You owe the viewing public an apology for your arrogant words. But, mostly, you owe your children an apology for the cruel and vile way you chose to raise them.

Sorry for all the posts. Jon is tweeting and retweeting more than I have ever seen him in one night. He seems so happy. He's saying his kids need their privacy like normal kids, not for the entire world to see.

Someone asked if he feels bad for Kate when all the haters bash her and he said no, not at all. He said he took the blows for what he did now she has to take her blows.

He said the kids will not be back on TV. He said he has a say in that and it won't happen.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Of course he pays more child support than that.

I'm not at all surprised he's getting more weekends, Kate will need these kids less and less when they are not needed for filming.

Just like we predicted, I bet she will slowly ease into the kids going to Jon more and more until he has more custody than she does. As it is if he has them 3 out of 4 weekends that's more time than Kate has them alone without a nanny.

Well, that was interesting. I remember now that at one time (a long time ago, I think), I actually liked watching JON & Kate Plus 8 and there were some very sweet and funny moments with those little kids. Very clear to me now, more than ever before, that Kate herself is responsible for her downfall. What employer would hire her now? What man would want her? She has NO humility about anything. She took this opportunity far, far too seriously and decided she was the next (as her friend said) "Angelina Jolie". Which she is most definitely not. She insulted her friends this morning, and trashed her ex husband again - all in a day's work. Her bitterness is palpable regarding Jon and is so completely unappealing and unattractive - it colors everything about her. Bitterness and anger. Would it have killed her, especially since her precious 'kids' will see and read all of this someday, to simply say 'Jon does the best he can' - MUST she be such a b*tch and say his child support "pays for their lunches"? And when she says he 'doesn't exist anymore'?? I believe her. She admitted herself that Jon "always" wanted to quit the show...but it evidently took awhile for him to stand up to her and stop being her doormat. In that regard, I'm sure in her mind, he changed and no longer exists. Thank God for Jon's sake. I can only conclude by saying this "Kate, you were the master of your own destiny - you blew it with your perpetual sense of entitlement, self-importance, bitterness, anger, lying, and a thousand other VERY unattractive qualities'. I don't know why anyone in television would hire you now, or why any mediocre audience would watch you, knowing your disdain for our poor little lives. You make me sick, lady. You were due for a fall and you're getting it. (And yes, purse-boy did obliquely call Jon 'useless'). Peas in a pod, he and Kate.

I think Jon is right these kids will NEVER be back on TV again. No one, not even TLC is going to want to fork over the money to fight him in court. This is not 2009 anymore, Kate. All he has to do is take Kate to court whenever she wants to sign over their privacy and unless Kate can fight it, which she can't do without TLC paying for lawyers, she's done.

Finally done said...

Correction above - I meant to say she trashed her AUDIENCE this morning when she back-handedly implied that her children deserved more than a mediocre life (which Jon, working a normal job, would provide). Of course, implying that everyone with a normal life and job are only providing mediocrity for their children. This is probably the biggest verbal blunder I've ever heard her make. And trying to weasel out of it didn't quite work!! She's done folks...and she did it to herself.

Hopefully the TLC strangle-hold on you is now a thing of the past. Best wishes to you and your kids.

I'm sorry to those of you that have enjoyed watching my kids grow up over the years, but I will always be here to keep in touch with while they live their lives in privacy, just like normal kids. Strange that he's being more vocal now, with Kate Plus 8 officially over. Was he under some agreement that forbid him to speak up until now?

It's seems like he has been more vocal to the press lately since the cancellation was announced. I understand that he wants to stand-up for himself especially when Kate constantly throws him under the bus, but I hope this doesn't turn into a constant he-said/she-said in the press. I actually preferred a silent Jon working behind the scenes to protect his kids. I thought he did an interview in which he said it would be his last interview. Why the change of heart now just when things are turning in his favor?

Well, it’s been an exciting day watching Katie Irene lie, rewrite history, and throw Jon under the bus with her “mediocre” comments. Although I haven’t watched the show on TV for years, thanks to this blog and others for keeping me up-to-date on the realest grifter of all time. Having said that, I got a distinct feeling of déjà vu as Katie Irene made her rounds in NYC.

Does anyone remember the time Katie Irene went on the Today Show crying poor and then took off for Cabo with Stevieboy afterwards?

Katie Irene was seen dress shopping at the local mall on Saturday prior to her press tour. Then after the press tour, she took herself shopping or maybe grifting? again.

donnamorgan_nycDonna Morgan

Just had @Kateplusmy8 in our showroom and she looked fantastic in everything.. especially our sequins! Come back soon! Xo

Stupid biotch. Keep spending the money on yourself--Mama needs sequins!--while crying poor and how you cannot afford to pay for the kids’ expensive gymnastics lessons, amusement park admissions, etc.

"I'm sure you will see my kids again at some point."

Katie Irene, you need to remember that the children have 2 parents who share joint custody and their father DOES and WILL have something to say about their activities and childhoods. Better yet, watch the video below. Better yet Jon, go back to court and restrict the childrens’ appearance on her website. My fear is she will post short videos ala Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black in order to get Mady (or the other children) noticed and further their/her dreams of Disney stardom.

Dwindle said . . . Kate, since I know you read this, apply at nursing homes for the MDS Nurse position. Office work, generally 8-4, no evenings or weekends, and no patient care. Paper nurse, quarterly assessments via chart reviews. You are so organized, you can manage that, right?

I don’t think she would be a good fit for this position at all. Nursing homes like to hire nurses with at least a BSN and previous experience as the work is very exacting and there is little room for error as their licensure and payment rates depend on it. The resident level Minimum Data Set (MDS) is used to assess quality of care and to determine payment levels. Many nursing homes created a specific role, the MDS Coordinator, to coordinate completion of the RAI in order to maximize reimbursement (Hawes et al., 1995). Given the potential clinical, regulatory, and financial significance of the MDS Coordinator, how nurses enact this role may potentially influence the organization at multiple levels.

So, no, I don't think an MDS position would be a good fit for Katie Irene. The elderly patients in nursing homes deserve more than that at this time of their lives. Which were not mediocre, Katie Irene!

Regardless if Jon has 8 followers or 80,000 followers. His account is set to private so that what he tweets isn't put on a headline the next day like Kates are on Huffington Post, Radar Online or any other tabloid. It's private for a reason. If he wants to tweet to the world and be under the microscope like Kate does each day, he'd make them public. Obviously we don't see Jon's tweets in tabloids and google searches because he's made them private, shares them with those who aren't media and has kept it that way long before Kate ever got a twitter account.

Steve actually referred to Jon as useless? Oh, no, no, no. Who does he think he is? And even though he was arrogant enough to say something like that, why would TLC put it in the show? Jon is the kids' father, and a darn good one, I might add. That alone should make him deserving of a lot more respect. Now, every time they watch this "memory" on video, they will hear Steve bashing their father. Shame on you, TLC.

And throwing Ashley under the bus...I dare say, the kids will miss her more than they will miss the show. She was FUN!!! Note to Ashley, please come babysit for me sometime!! My kids are amazingly fun, and you can make them into human sundaes and spray them with silly string all you want, cause GUESS WHAT??? They're WASHABLE! Wow, I could go to the grocery store all by myself, and when I go through the checkout line I won't be pulling stuff out of my cart and wondering where it came from. I still can't figure it out, because when I ask who put it in the cart, the kids all say, "Not me"! Alrighty, then.

I am SO glade I didn't watch.

I have been very adamant Jon not say anything but God Almighty I don't see how any living breathing human begin could stay silent these past couple days.

The fans have talked so much about putting ourselves in Kate's shoes. Well we can put ourselves in Jon's shoes too and realize that no warm-blooded man could take it.

He shouldn't do it, but I don't know how you don't. Remember you're not just insulting the man, he's being insulted as a father and provider--that goes to the very essence of what many men feel makes them a good man. The reality is we still live in a society where traditionally the man is held up as more obligated to provide than the women, and I think men take that very seriously, certainly someone like Jon. I think as women maybe we're not quite able to understand how deeply hurtful that is as a man to be attacked and moreover with lies about your providing. I guess I imagine the one quality about myself if I had to pick to sum myself up, and then imagine the parent of my children bashing that quality in the press over and over and over and telling flat out LIES about it over and over and over.

I don't blame him anymore, I don't.

I caught the "useless" remark. Not once did I hear any man call Jon "useless". I personally was impressed with his early episodes...bathing kids, fixing coffee, completing DIY projects around the house. If anything, I heard people (male and female) say that they didn't know how he tolerated it.

I also noticed that the kids all said they were sad about the show ending, but most of them had big smiles. It felt like a canned response to the question.

Let's turn back the pages of the history books and review how Steve first came into the picture.
JON was the stay at home dad while STEVE AND KATE toured the country on speaking engagements.

Useless, Steve? Apparently looking after eight children while their mother leaves them for weeks at a time is useless. Not to mention, how the heck would you know when you weren't even there?

Kelly said...

I agree. It's hard for anyone to sit back and take hits and not want to respond. The natural order of things is chaos and the natural response is to manage it. There are just some things that you just have to gloss over and not respond to such as Kate's constant hits, snide remarks and trying to sound like the better parent.

We've all seen Kate's behavior and we've heard nothing from Jon this past year. During this past year, many of us have made snide remarks to each other on blogs and have responded in fashions that were childish. I'm guilty. Jon has shown more strength over this past year by not responding publicly and Kate has continued to dig a whole that she can't crawl out of.

She's become the fodder with her lies and constant harping on "Their Father". I am glad that Jon hasn't responded. He's kept the kids in mind and their well being. He's more computer savy than Kate and knows that any response he offers will be on the internet for ages, for his kids to see when they do get the opportunity to browse at home, the library or at school. He's taken the high road, knowing that whatever he says, the kids will one day see and he just can't take it back. It is just a google search away whether he says it online, to the press, or on twitter.

You're right, He shouldn't do it and I don't know how he tempers his feelings but he has and he deserves so much credit for doing it.

I am so glad they will be living there life in public.... Jamie's got that right, Kate is definitely no Angelina Jolie. I've never got the impression that Angelina is high-maintenance, just a natural beauty. His choice of having 60,000 followers and tweeters and continues to keep his tweets private with those select 60,000 are tantamount to you having a wedding with 60,000 guests and it's still a private affair. Just because the number of followers or guests are large doesn't make the affair open to the public. Like wedding guests and accepted followers, it's his choice and yours.

I, too, want only the best for my kids and don't want to provide only a mediocre life for them. I also am willing to work my fingers to the bone to provide all that, as along as it doesn't interfere with my rock-star lifestyle.

That said, I'll take over Anderson Cooper's spot even tho I have no discernible talent in that area. He owes me that much, cuz I want only the best for this mom & her kids.

It will mean that we can have free first call travel to all kinds of places, 2 nannies, a driver, a pool boy, a leather couch, a yard service, a guy to handle the chickens & dog, a laundry "girl" (just how old is she, again?), a cook, a beautician, a make-up artist, and an assistant. Oh yeah, and a security detail.

Someone else will plan all the trips, take care of all the travel/hotel arrangements, and plan the activities for while we're out traveling. Preferably in 5 star hotels. No crappy RV vacations for this deserving mom and her kids!

It's really trying to have them tell me when I'm gonna go traveling! I wish they'd check with me first so they don't interfere with my rock-star life so much. Sheesh! You'd think they could be even a teensy bit considerate!

And for all that all I gotta do is stay thin & say a few words on TV every night. And everyone will be in awe of me....cuz I'm on TV!!!!

Will Kate be able to handle the fact that she too might very well have to suck it up and return to nursing as a mediocre citizen? I wonder.

News flash Kate! Majority of America does not care you went and had 8 kids! We are too damn busy living our own mediocre lives to compete with you and your dramatics! Save a few sheeple, what are there, like a dozen left if that? Just because you have a large family does not mean the world owes you a precious lifestyle. If it did a lot of large families would be living it up but they aren't.

Are you sure the kids are honestly sad the show is over? I didn't see any tears as you so pointlessly claim. I think all the tears at the breakfast table were Kate's.

Just how long does she plan of riding her infamous line of, "I have 8 kids to support." I mean kids grow up Katie dear. Then what? You'll magically disappear once your kids become adults? If so that day just isn't going to come quick enough for the rest of us is it?

It seems like there was no live tweet chat tonight with Kate. Must have been disappointing to her fans since it was only the SERIES FINALE.

Maybe she's living it up in NYC enjoying her Nobu sushi before heading home, while the normal "mediocre" folks watched her finale tonight. It would explain why she's relatively quiet on twitter tonight.

I am overwhelmed at all of the tweets I have received tonight and the support from everyone. I'm sorry to those of you that have enjoyed watching my kids grow up over the years, but I will always be here to keep in touch with while they live their lives in privacy, just like normal kids. It's getting late and I have to be up in the morning to go to my #mediocre job so goodnight and thank you once again! I can't wait to chat with you all some more tomorrow!

______________

I am crying. Is that all we are to "stahs"? Just mediocre because we are not on TV? Or because we can't make thousands of dollars in a day? Whatever..

As a real single mom, I am broke. Very broke, but I know I have done the best I can. No raise at my job for 15 years. Not one. But I have a job. And I love my 2 daughters more than life itself. I hope they know that and forgive me for being so mediocre.

Phoenix Rising said...

Useless, Steve? Apparently looking after eight children while their mother leaves them for weeks at a time is useless. Not to mention, how the heck would you know when you weren't even there?

________

Steve shouldn't have made the "useless" comment, but it's being taken out of context.

He didn't say that he thought that Jon was useless. He said that men would turn to their wives and say something about Jon being useless..."Look honey, I'm not as stressed and mean as she is", and the husbands look to their wives and say, "Look honey, I'm not as useless as he is."

He did not say that it was HIS opinion that Jon was useless. So if one is pulling out the "Jon is useless" comment as representing Steve's opinion, following that logic, then the Kate being stressed and mean comment also represents his opinion because he said it.

Regardless, it stupid for him to bring it up.

Notice how it's perfectly ok for Kate to act badly, cuz she's stressed.

But totally NOT ok for Jamie/Ashley to say anything bad cuz they're stressed.

One more thought and then I am off to bed. It's way past my bedtime. Anonymous asked if we thought Kate was home crying in her wine. I'd bet big money that Kate is still in NYC partying up a storm. She tweeted that she couldn't watch the show but she's crying along with her fans. Kate abandoned her fans again, on the K+8 finale no less. She doesn't give a flying crap about those "devasated" fans she talked about today.

Thanks Jursey Chic and Kelly for agreeing to disagree :) Nite all.

@Mel said Touche......You have the lifestyle down pat. The mediocre lifestyle we all live is so boring and unfulfilling. Imagine, the husband, getting up in the morning, heading out to his job as an electrician, supporting a family of 2 or 3 kids and a wife. How about that mediocre FDNY guy who got the call to go into the World Trade Center 10 years ago prior to the building collapse? Oh those poor mediocre jobs that people have! Those plumbers that clean our drains, those landscapers that cut our lawns and that poor mediocre mailman that delivers our direct deposit statments each week.

Those mediocre cops that protect us, those pitiful mediocre cashiers at the Giant food store and all those mediocre Target employees that accompany Kate to her car with carts full of bags. I wonder how those mediocre UPS guys feel when they deliver Kates freebies from Peace Hope Love? All those mediocre makeup people who apply her base and make her media ready? There are so many mediocre people in Kate's life I wonder how she functions.

I'm so sorry that everyone of us on this blog are so mediocre. None of us have camera's following us unless we have failed to stop at a controlled intersection with a camera positioned nearby or the ubiqutious speed camera that catches us going 11 mph over the limit. We all can't be so lucky.

Here's to your mediocrity and mine. I'm loving it. May your mediocrity today be as exciting tommorow as it was yesterday and all those boring, unfilmed, people you call family be as loving tomorrow without the cameras and big paychecks as they were yesterday. After all,we're all just mediocre because we aren't on TV. I'm loving my mediocre life. Hope you are too.

I'm having a hard time trying to get to the juice of tonight's episode

Actually, tonight's episode was really, really boring. It was just kind of a jumbled up mess of clips.

Nothing new was shared, particularly. They showed the same clips over & over, which didn't make a lot of sense.

It wasn't particularly coherent. Seemed fairly scattershot. Seemed like it spent too much time refuting various rumors.

Too much time of Kate blabbing...about something. I don't know. Those parts didn't make a lot of sense. You know how she can't string a sentence together. And most of what she said was lies or things she lives in her head.

That was pretty funny. She's say whatever, and then there would be a bunch(!) of clips showing the opposite.

I thought they might show more of her ugly moments, but what they showed wasn't too bad. Certainly not her worst moments for the most part. I thought they would show more clips of her being so disrespectful to Jon, but they didn't show much of that stuff either.

Definitely didn't give a good overview or summary of the show, IMHO.

I was very disappointed in this episode; it was really bland. On a scale of 1-10, this episode was a 2. B-o-r-i-n-g.

I was left just feeling sad. They invaded the kids (and their own) privacy for 5-6 years for this????

The little kids had no idea what the show ending meant. They were clearly just saying what they'd been brain-washed to say. "We're sad." Uh, huh. Then why are you all smiles and laughing?

When asked, they didn't even know what they were sad about, and could not say what they were going to miss about the show. They just looked at the camera blankly as if to say, Huh? WTH you talking about?

One of the twins was going to miss all the free trips. And they certainly did get some doozies of free trips! I was a VIP in Australia, and even I didn't get to wash the elephants! And I would have loved to!!!

Guess I just got the mediocre zoo tour.

I just saw E news and Julianna interviewing Kate. Kate said (and I am paraphrasing) that she hates that the media portrays her as being mean. While Kate is saying this, E is showing footage of Kate calling Steve rude while she is the one being rude by slamming the RV door in his face. Then they show Ashley crying how she can't stand spending another moment with Kate. You get the point. Kate you are mean and you E news made a fool out of you by proving it with your own words and actions.

I am so glad that Kate flipped out for last 2 episodes during the RV trip. And I am glad that her best friend, Jamie, and her best friend, Ashley, showed what a bitch she was during that trip. Ashley said tonight that in day 2 or 3 of the 2 week RV trip that tempers started to fly. Because if we didn't have this RV footage then Kate would state that she USED TO BE that way but no longer is. The media doesn't portray Kate as rude and mean, Kate does that herself with tv footage of her living her life.

TLC showed footage of the fake Christmas, Joel on the laundry floor with a puke bucket, Kate threatening to throw out with teddy with the gum, the kids puking on the boat, Kate screaming at Jon about the shower coupon, Collin dancing during knobgate, and Kate saying that people say she is Mommy Dearest. Thank you TLC for all of that. It sounds like you have been listening to the "haters". HA!

Stress is not a curse cast by a wicked witch, compelling you to do horrible things. Stress can be managed, Kate--avoided, handled, and worked through. It isn't an out that allows you to be an asshole to whomever you like, for as long as you like.

That's another reason I'd hate to see her go back to nursing. 'Cause nursing isn't stressful, or anything.

I think I love you! I would hate to see Kate in the MDS coordinator's role, which often is considered management. But a large home, with a large skilled unit turnover, will have more than one nurse completing MDSs. My suggestion was completely in jest, can you see Kate participating in care conferences?? Holy Hannah! And writing nursing care plans? LOL!!! Her complete lack of moral ethics is well known, she would never get hired for a job that helps determine per diem reimbursment. Although I would pay money to be a fly on the wall when she completely alienates state dept of health surveyors. hehe. hehehe. HAHAHA!

My post was aimed mainly at the sheeple, there are a great many jobs out there Katie could look into, that would not require 16 hour shifts for 7 days a week plus more daycare than she already pays for.

Kate Gosselin was all humble pie during her NBC “Today Show” interview Monday (Aug. 10), but behind the scenes she reportedly lived up to her reputation for being a domineering celebrity diva with a nasty streak. She was ''a total b----'' to almost everyone, a longtime NBC staffer told the Chicago Sun-Times. ''We get virtually all of the world's biggest egos coming through here,'' added the source. ''But Kate was one of the most unpleasant I've seen in working here for many years.'' Maybe Jon was right. »

Well, I just lost a long post. Oh well.

I was just wondering why everyone's worried about Jon's Twitter being "private" because there are several sheeple who have infiltrated it and follow him. I've only wandered into the cesspool of sheeple blogs about 6 to 10 times this past year, and almost every time that I've read their comments, they are engaging in their favorite sport, Jon-bashing. They often mention what they saw on his Twitter, and then mock it in their hypocritical manner. Other than that, I've just seen a lot of mind-numbing stupidity there.

fidosmommy said...

I didn't watch, but am hearing from you bloggers
that the production quality was second rate. I think they originally decided to just close the show down with nary a fare-thee-well to Kate, but at the last minute decided to do SOMETHING.

So, they cobbled some stuff together and the Sheeple "balled" and twisted Kleenex and tweeted about how wonderful the ride has been for them all, how awful to see it go.

It could have been a still picture of Kate and the kids on the screen and they would have screamed and cried their way through the hour.

TLC at least gave them talking heads and a composite of clips.

"He can feel that and have that opinion, but I'm not in [agreement] and I'm not afraid of it...For three years, Jon thought it was a great idea before he walked away from it." Then she went to say that the kids come to her and say, "Dad says it's bad for us but we LOOOVVEEEEEE it!" and he is trying to convince them that it's bad and also that Jon has been overruled in the past and a judge would rule for what's best for the kids WTF? &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Holy cow is right. First of all she's going to have to drag him to court to ever get these kids on tv again. Without TLC paying for lawyers, good luck. The family law judge never said filming was good for the kids, he said they have to honor their old contract. It's a whole other ball game to ask a judge to overrule a father who apparently now has the kids almost every weekend and have the judge order a new contract without Daddy's permission. Whole new ballgame and it ain't gonna happen Kate. That's even assuming anyone wants to film these kids and get involved with this mess--even more unlikely!

As for Jon trying to convince the kids he's bad, the kids are well aware he doesn't want them on TV, how could they not know? They probably ask him questions about it and he answers them honestly, honey I think it's bad for you. Just like a parent would answer honestly when a kid asks why

Kate after all this time still thinks that because the kids love it and have fun, what parent in their right mind would want to deny them that? Kate? Half your JOB as a good parent is to have the guts to say no to your kid. There are so many things you have to do as a parent that are upsetting to kids. From getting them their shots to making them eat veggies to making them go to school to making them do homework to not letting them play with little Jimmy who beats up other kids to making them sit quietly in church to not letting them where PJs all day and eat icecream you get the picture. Get some sense here, a parent has to make calls all the time that the kids don't like in their best interest! Filming was just one of those calls and the fact that the kids may like it has absolutely nothing to do with it. She will never get this because she is 12.

fidosmommy said...

Thanks for that link, PJ's Momma.

Kate is rambling on about what life would have been like with 8 kids and no TV show. Well, it would have been different, that's for sure. Nobody except family, friends, neighbors would know the kids' names and would not care one iota
about their teeth, lunch eating order, likes and dislikes, or made them uncomfortable. Both parents would have had decent jobs and made their income work to support the kids. They would have gone with Uncle Kevin and Aunt Jodi to some fun places and baked lots and lots of cookies. They would have gone to Scouts, gone to church, gone to the public pool, gone on vacation to see Jon's mom and brothers. I'm sure there are fun winter places near PA and beaches within a day's drive with no camera men to worry about.

We would have no Gosselin blogs, there would be
no negative - or even positive - comments about any of the Gosselins, and they could live their lives in privacy, with happy memories of plain
ol' childhoods, and plan their futures like
100,000 other children on their side of the Mississippi River.

Kate all but announced she wanted money from the start when she stated that she and Jon would have divorced because of no-money issues. Funny, I though it was the have-money issues
that ended up killing the marriage. Anything for a buck, huh Kate? Anything.

Ladies,

I am done, done, done! I will check in tomorrow for the recap and to feast my eyes on her ratings, but this is the night I've been waiting for. The show is dead.

I haven't watched for the past three years, at least. It was simply too upsetting to see her exploit and abuse her children and any other poor shlub who go in her way.

It has been wonderful sharing here with you all. With the exception of those pesky trolls the discussion has been on the high road (LOL) and some of you who post here have delightfully wry writing styles. In fact, I've snorted out loud in laughter many times.

I predict kart will end up with a mediocre job just to pay the bills, and I bet she will be fired from it too.

Like Admin, I think she will eventually come up with a lawsuit against TLC. Good luck with that one, kart - ha ha ha

I think she will dump the kids on Jon as soon as she can, and I think purseboy has been "helping" (wink wink) her since the beginning.

I also think he won't be around much longer. He won't be able to make any money off her and she won't be willing to support him.

As for the kids, well......... I hope they can have some peace now, but really, only half the problem has been solved. They are off TV, but they still have that sick shit for a mom.

Admin, many thanks for hosting this blog. It's been a pleasure!

Maybe I'll check back in later in the year....

I come back, and it's taken me the better part of a day to catch up on the posts. BTW - admin, I did see your votive candle. Thank you for that. It was classy and tasteful.

Re Steve and the "useless" Jon - I doubt very many husbands who watched the show thought Jon was useless. Most of the shows had him busting his butt to make life better for his family.

Interesting that Kate finally admits that Jon was ready to quit any time. So much for her claim that "if anyone wants to quit, we are done". It was all a lie, right from the get-go.

Re Jon and the tweets - I haven't seen any; I haven't read any; I don't twitter, tweet or twat, but it seems to me that he's shown remarkable restraint over the past year or so. As long as he refrains from Kate bashing, he's entitled to speak his piece, IMO.

Hallelujah! the show is over. I sincerely hope that Kate falls off the edge of the earth (that flat earth her buddy Sherri Shepherd believes in, and metaphorically speaking -- look it up, Sheeple) and the kids are able to continue growing up in the privacy they've earned and deserve.

Has anyone else noticed that as much as Kate loves babies, she doesn't seem to like the kids as much once they get older?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Of course! For Kate, it's all about control, not necessarily because babies are cute and cuddly and draw attention to her when people stop and say, "Oh, how cute - how old?" - but because she has complete control when they are infants and toddlers.

As the child grows, he becomes more and more independent, resisting her control, questioning her ways, refusing to do as commanded. She loses control, and therefore, she loses interest in them. They are more of a nuisance than anything else because not only because they are becoming their own people with independent thinking, but because she still has to provide for them.

In the one clip shown last night, she stood in the kitchen and said something about still being in charge, and it's always going to be like that.

No, it isn't, and I think that as much as she's trying to make herself (and the children) believe that, she knows that the time will come when she is no longer in control, and it scares the heck out of her.

Control issues, do you think? Kate needs help and you all know what I mean by "help." She is delusional in her ego. The kids were created to make her famous. Bank on that statement. She doesn't see this situation like any normal person would see it. Thus, Jon, could not go on with the sham any longer. I'll bet that they had some knock down drag out fights before he left. Kate will miss the fact that the kids were supporting her lifestyle. She will never, never admit that she used her kids for financial support. Kids need love, shelter, food, and clothing. End of story, sad as it is.

Administration or anyone else, is it legal for anyone to use a web came on children without the other parents consent? Also, do you think this is what Kate is trying to do by having her new web page? I saw a tweet suggesting that Kate do a pay per view. Can she do that?

Oops, I meant cam.

Yesterday on THE VIEW in the beginning announcement re hot topics they mentioned Kate Gosselin was freaking out but they did not bring up the subject during the show. Then today on THE VIEW the ladies discussed reality TV and Russell Armstrong's suicide and then they got around to mentioning Kate Gosselin.

Note: Sherri is talking directly to Kate; I have done the best I can transcribing when they all talk at the same time.

Whoopi: Speaking of someone else involved in a reality show, Kate Gosselin is terrified about what she is going to do now since her show Kate Plus 8 got canceled. Now after taking heat for saying ex husband Jon is just a mediocre provider as a construction worker, she clarified that the best thing for the family would be to continue working on TV.

Sherri: You know this is really interesting ... she said it was mediocre that her ex husband Jon Gosselin was working in construction because he could not provide the best opportunities for the kids because it was not a career for him, unlike her being on TV was her career and she could provide the best opportunities. I always have been supportive of Kate Gosselin because she has the 8 kids to feed ... I take exception with you to say that your husband that what he is doing to provide for kids - because what they need is food, shelter and clothes - all the other stuff Kate is perks. There are a lot of other women who would love their baby's daddy to be working

Joy: But being on a television show provides a lot more money than doing construction.

Sherri: But be honest Kate, you like the perks.

Barbara: She has made a lot of money and it has been great for the kids. May I point out that maybe this is something that you think about *before* you have the 8 children. [applause] Then Barbara reads Kate's statement: "My kids have benefited so greatly" "Yes" confirms Barbara. "I shudder to think what our lives would be scrapping to get by, struggling to exist and having that guilt of eight kids that I can't afford and can't provide for."

Joy: Maybe Angelina will adopt them ;)

Sherri: There is still she can still do ...

Barbara: She wants another television show.

Sherri: She could do Celebrity Rehab ...

Elizabeth: She wants something pretty soon ...

Barbara: What do you think? When we talk about the Octomom, what do you think when you have children? Whether it is one child or eight children, there is a responsibility to provide other than I hope I am going to get a TV show.

Sherri: I don't think she didn't think she could not provide for her kids.

Joy: She could be a dance coach ...

Sherri: No [Joy] she knows she can't, she did DWTS ... but you [Kate] could do Celebrity Apprentice, you can do Bachelor or Bachelorette ...

Elizabeth: ...I think one relatable thing that came out of Kate Gosselin exactly ... is that she did say to her kids something like please pray or hope that mommy can get a job so that you can stay in your same school ...

Sherri: Oh my goodness ...

Whoopi: Putting a little pressure on the kids?

Elizabeth: It is a hard thing ... sometimes you involve your kids in your troubles and bring them in but I think for the most part ... it's hard because you do want to protect them and if she is worrying them about not going to the same school ...

[Everyone now talking at same time.]

Barbara: Responsibility before you bring children into the world ...

Joy: Fame is fleeting ... does the name Heidi Montag ring a bell? We haven't seen that girl ... 48 surgeries she has disappeared

Sherri: Fame is fleeting for these reality people ... you better have something to sustain yourself

Whoopi: Do you know what else is fleeting? Time is fleeting and so we have to flee and we will be right back (end)

I found this old comment from two years ago. Although Steve takes a slam at both parents, I find it utterly inappropriate. I remember now why I don't like him, this and the pizza thing. What grown man lets a child be picked on so they can have their precious pizza???

Steve was describing why audiences were drawn to watch J&KPlus 8. He said the wives turn to their husbands and say, "Look honey, I'm not as stressed and mean as she is", and the husbands look to their wives and say, "Look honey, I'm not as useless as he is."

She has a good thing going with Kate, she gets a lot of attention from her and so on. I think she's petrified that if Kate actually meets her and sees her, Kate could be disappointed and Milo'll lose everything she had.

Like online dating, people can have a good thing going online then meet and person and if the chemistry isn't there what can you do. This is why a lot of people on that Catfish show were scared to meet. Scared to ruin it.

It's the old don't mess with a good thing or get greedy.

Nina I think an important point in your story is that your parents gave equal time to you and equal or I assume more family togetherness compared to the times they had "me time." It sounds like they did it right.

I think there is a fine line between showing kids that it's okay for an adult to have a life and interests outside of the children, and making that child feel like you enjoy your life without them more than the child themselves. Once that line has been crossed, it is very hard to ever make it up to them. That said, many families feel that once you have kids that the kids should be included in nearly everything you do and that significant time spent on activities that specifically exclude them should be reserved until the children are old enough to take part. There are thousands of fun activities to choose from that kids can be a part of too. You're not deprived of good hobbies or a great time just because you have kids. For instance cycling, instead of going off cycling every evening without the kids, why not strap the kid to the back in a buggy and have them take part too.
