Thank you everybody. I am really upset about this. I love this blog, the people who make this a great place to vent about when the children are going to be granted release from Gosselin Prison.
We all contribute to this blog in one way or another and that is what makes it so great! The suggestions of tv shows to watch, books to read, videos to watch, places to visit, places to eat, even what to cook for dinner. It is a sad day to have someone come in and violate OUR Veranda and get their ill-gotten giggles.
FlimsyFlamsy, I thought that was you. localyocal, tucker's mom, formerly duped, thank you. And if I have missed someone, please forgive me. Also, I sent in a couple of posts and let it rip. SO glad the Pool Girls are on the job and they do it well. Oh, and the Pool Boys had to change out the filter after I posted so...the next round of rumspringas are on me!
What Dmasy says :) it's easy to get a blue name and by doing so your own, unique name will just be yours.
Normally I don't participate in conversation about someone's appearance. With the way she treats Colin publicly on camera (and TLC pays her for it) I have to say it, the incredible amount of sun damage now evident on her body and frozen face is sad for a 40 year old.
There is a moment in the ghastly 40 episode where Joan Crawford, I mean um Kate is relaxing on her throne, um I mean the bed on the
beach, and she leans in to see Deanna's phone where the cameras show ugh...some really damaged weakened skin on her stomach. Lines and folds...it seems only when she stands still does is that gut photogenic...teehee
That and the very matronly sagging oversized chest, time to stop the bikinis. I watched this fast forwarding with a guy friend and he yelled, turned his head and went into the kitchen. I smiled.

Of course, I have sometimes asked why over the last 15 years but I have accepted it and have many people in my life, family and friends who care about me and I care about them. I actually had one man promise me if they got a call that they wouldn't stop at a store and buy a pack of cigarettes, they would get to me as quick as possible. Wow, what a compliment!

I'm echoing others here when I say I wish I lived closer. I'd visit you and bring my sweet dog (if they're allowed). We so enjoy your comments, humor and occasional poetry! By "we" I mean we ladies on the veranda, not my dog and I. He's usually snoozing.
I bet many of us here have at one time or another asked why me. I have. It's the big question isn't it, without a very satisfying answer, imo. My heart goes out to you.
I also see them in pink on my iPad. My complaint with the iPad is that all links used to be clickable and now none are. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have a big batch of shrimp I've been putting off cleaning for a shrimp salad I'm making for tomorrow. They have the heads still on, and they're all staring at me ... yuckity, yuck, yuck. However, instead of watching Kate, I think cleaning the shrimp sounds like a more enjoyable task.
OK, how long will it be, before Kate posts, 4th of July pics? I wonder if she left the flags on the driveway, from Veterans day. You know that family tradition of flags in the driveway, that one of her fans had to remind her of! Then she went out and put the flags out or was that a pic from a previous years. With Kate you never know, she lies so much, and does things out order. Like celebrating Xmas before Xmas, and any birthday or holiday, a month to or after.

At the risk of not knowing whether you are asking this question with tongue-in-cheek, the little garbage can is so that you can delete your comment.
I watched the last two episodes and Collin is a model child on the show.
The girls are the ones who shriek, speak over each other and throw fits at the drop of a hat, even in front of their friends.
Collin seems to be bright and well adjusted. I don't understand it at all. Just wondering.....could it be that Jon is the one who wanted the school change and maybe has wanted it for a long time? Could it be that there has been a change in Collin's custody?

My shrimp have all been guillotined and cleaned. I turned on the kids 11th birthday but I can't take the girls screeching and interrupting and the general chaos they create so, before my eardrums burst, I turned it off. Not sure I can handle the 40th birthday and the way Kate handled Collin's gift to her. Just hearing about it made me so sad.
I wonder if all the birthday guests brought 6 gifts. I noticed the boy named Nial (?) did. I think you should just bring one for the child who invited you. I remember buying two presents for twins, but sextuplets? Wow.

So many others came up with inventions like the walkie talkie, the electron microscope, the telephone, the Blackberry, the pager, the snowblower.
Anyway the list is longer and too numerous to mention here, but we're pretty proud of our stuff! If Kate gives a special thanks to Canadian Louise Poirier for inventing the WonderBra, I'll drink a gallon of Bloody Caesars, invented by a Calgary bartender in 1969 and say something kind about HER, so that Tucker's will think I'm nice ;o)
And for Jolie...Brent Leroy may have not invented the chili cheese dog, but he sure made me a fan of them. I'll make a special batch of them and set them on the veranda for everyone.

Sadly, I think Kate believes she deserves to be paid money to sit and make "cute" faces while talking about herself. Nothing more than HERSELF. She believes her life is one-of-a-special-kind and that she is charming and fascinating and wonderful and worthy of fame.

For eg, kids designing the cake, was just them, she was not even in the shot when they were selecting and drawing. No squealing, wrinkle nose or bad mouthing what they choose and design.
At the rink, she was not on the floor. She stayed on the side and watched them with their friends ( how different is this to when they played that game with the ball and she would not let them win). It was all about the 6, not Kate attempting to skate or be pushed on a chair.

But it seems to be a big seller. So maybe you're right. TLC might be trying to see how obnoxious acting children are going to fly. Obnoxious Kate has been done. The ratings are down.
Time to see if the kids can carry on in the spotlight with Kate in a more minor role. Still fully obnoxious, but less visible. Letting the kids do things, but still present enough to bring tension to the filming.

We're going to a neighbor's annual 4th celebration. They do a bang up job and it's so nice to visit with neighbors that we usually just wave to as they drive by.
These nice folks also do an annual Christmas/Holiday party and people brings sides or desserts.
This year, I'm bringing both- a dessert and a nibbly plate with pate and cheese (and some delicious homemade toppings!).

Snarky kids can work, but it's got to be done right and it's a fine line to tow.
I think Modern Family's kids are hysterical. The reason I think it works is because they're also shown being flawed, and that makes them endearing.
For every zinger, those kids get knocked down a peg.
Kate seems to delight in her girls' entitled attitudes and Mady's glibness.
Tucker's Mom, we are doing the neighborhood event also. We are enjoying be a part of a cup-de-sac and participating get togethers. My hubby -- the grillmaster -- is cooking all the meat for the our event.
He is also assembling cream cheese and shrimp stuffed peppers which are wrapped in bacon.
Our outdoor kitchen is smokin' away right now.
Hubby loves shopping and recipes and ingredients and cooking. Not me so much. Our kitchen is a mishmash of prep debris at the moment. He THINKS he cleans up. I sneak in behind his effort and do it my way.

We have been in the Outer Banks for a few days. No sharks in Nags Head, at least not yesterday! There is a new distillery in Manteo, couple of local guys run it, and they have made Kill Devil Rum, name is a play on Kill Devil Hills, nc. it's really good rum!
I missed the kerfluffle, but I agree that Pym and flimsy flimsy and Redbird too all need compensation for shenanigans. We should all go along on whatever exotic trip they get, for emotional support, dontcha know!

I've make individual desserts in little clear plastic cups: butterscotch budino (fancy Italian way of saying pudding) with a salted caramel topping, mascarpone whipped cream and roasted almond brittle.
We bought pate and Cashel bleu cheese at our fancy schmancy Weggies (serving with a sliced baguette), and I made (local) plum gastrique with caramelized shallots and (local) cherry mostarda.
So, put that in your pipe and smoke it, Kate.

We've been going to the OBX for about 8 years now, and we stay in Corolla.
Can you give me your thoughts on the Southern shores-south of the main causeway?
DH and I always think we'll give the south a try, but wonder what the flavor it like down there.
We love hanging on the beach with our dogs, eating seafood, and love the shopping, restaurants and mini-golf at Timbuck II.
The Food Lion has improved quite a bit, and we also hit Harris Teeter.
We adore Duck and wind up there several times- love the Blue Point Grill and that shopping center.
We have 2 dogs, so that's limited the day trips when we visit. Being farther south would allow us to say, visit Ocracoke.
We stay in Whalehead and love the development, fyi.
Any thoughts you can share would be appreciated!!

Are they Jersey shallots or true shallots? ;) You need to make sure that you have infused layers of flavors, there's enough harmony in textures, your deglazing works in a gentle medley with enough acidity, and the flavors don't compete with the other components but rather impart that subtle balance between sweetness and tartness, thus giving depth to the reduction, and that the bouquet garni is aromatic but the delicacy isn't overwhelmed by the potency of the shallot.
I was so worried about all of this when I was cooking yesterday, and then I realized that hey, it's only a pot of chili. As Dan Conner said in an old Roseanne episode, chili is science. It represents your three states of matter, solid, liquid and eventually, gas.
I watch too much "Chopped" and although the judges may know their food, they are still sorely lacking in table manners.

OT, I got me a 6 pack of whistles at the dollar store and got me a telemarketer last night. As soon as he started his spiel I blew that whistle for all I was worth and then I hung up. I was giggling like a lunatic. I haven't had so much fun for $1 in a long time. I'm definitely starting a campaign called "Blow the Whistle on Telemarketers and Scammers.

There is a new distillery in Manteo, couple of local guys run it, and they have made Kill Devil Rum, name is a play on Kill Devil Hills, nc. it's really good rum!

Tucker's Mom - I love broccoli too. It's just so easy to quickly steam up some for dinner, and melt a little butter on top - yum! I even like to eat it raw, as long as I've cut it into very small florets. Last week, I made cheddar and broccoli soup. So I am definitely a fan :)
I hope the kids were with Jon today and had a good time. I had a good time at my friend's BBQ. Unfortunately, after I got home, I ended up in a beef with a person who lives in an apartment complex on the other side of my fenced yard. A frisbee hit my window and before I had even put my shoes on to go outside, I looked out and there was this guy ready to climb over my fence. Ugh. He'd had a few beers I think, and got belligerent with me after I told him not to climb over the fence. Not a great way to end an otherwise very lovely day. And it's almost 11:30 p.m., but I still hear fireworks going off. Hopefully no fires were caused by fireworks!
Well, according to Twitter Kate had a houseful of guests yesterday and there is a photo of the tups watching fireworks. Hannah is there.Many followers posted their flag cakes- some look much nicer than Kate's!

The first thing Kate would think is "omg, we can't film anymore!", not "I'm not going to film to focus on my son".

Kate used to brag how smart Collin was, a math whiz, grades coming easily and was bored academically...if Jon did get custody her tune would change and she will blame Jon for the issues he alluded to involving some or all of the kids.I think Collin has always been a handful for Kate.She has done her best to break his spirit and the shadow of a boy we have seen in the recent years is nothing like the tough and rowdy little boy in the old episodes who liked to organize things.And yes, he would physically push the other kids around.
Wonder if Hannah reneged on her statements about Kate being cruel to her but Collin maybe admitted he is treated like an outcast by all of the family for the most part at Kate's? If he is with Jon that would account for a new school and Kate announcing to the world her son is having trouble.

Did I not post she would post pics. That fireworks display looks professional. I bet they filmed it. And TLC got the fireworks display. That does not look like a backyard/alley display. I was in the alley with my neighbors, and it was bring a few fireworks and shoot them off, then do some more. If you look at the pic, they have place in the distance, and the fireworks is all lined up. That is professional. I've been to local fireworks, one at a high school and golf course, and that is how they do the fireworks. Your not fooling anyone Kate, TLC set this up for filming. That looks like all 6 tups.
I don't think the fireworks picture is from this year. If you enlarge it you'll see that the boys hair is shorter in the swan and Aiden's face is much more mature now than in the fireworks picture. Also, I think the one in front in blue is a boy. I thinks the picture may be from last year. She made a big deal about the 4th last year and nary a mention of it this year which is why I think it's an old picture. Boy oh boy do those kids have a lot of pool toys.

Sherry Baby: Why I say Kate is filming: cause, Tuesday she answer a fan on twitter, when asked if there is more shows and Kate hinted there are. Kate also, said in and interview last month, when asked: what are you doing for the summer, Kate answered, hanging and relaxing by the pool and filming.
Kate is like clockwork: when she is quiet, it means 4 things:
1. the kids are with Jon
2. they are filming
3. Kate is up to something or it is something legal
4. she is out of town.

Kate could have taken the kids to a local fireworks display, but since she said they were at home, that is too professional looking and Kate would not touch that stuff and if purseboy was there he would be firing them off, like the rest of us would a little at a time. But purseboy is in AK, guarding the Duggar boy.

It's possible that they had friends over for the Fourth, barbecue and swimming and then went to a community celebration. It doesn't say that the fireworks photo was taken at home. And it doesn't mean that it was filmed!
Moreover, she doesn't call it "fireworks." She says firecrackers, which is different from fireworks. Firecrackers are the ones that are set off in neighborhoods. "Professional" displays are referred to as fireworks...at least they are around here.

As to the custody hearing, maybe it got postponed,. I could also see Hannah changing her mind.
I wonder if Kate's announcement about Collin was a lead-in for not filming him in the future. He has problems dealing with social situations, and filming opens him up to ridicule from other kids. If he is teased about what is shown on K+8 (i.e., his mother saying that her kids are "rabid beasts", talking about the boys' underwear, saying their room smells, etc) He may react strongly to being teased, and maybe someone suggested/ordered that he be left out of filming (and pictures posted on twitter) so that he is spared the ridicule that sets him off. Kids can be so mean to one another, especially to others who do not fit in socially. Add to that the nasty public comments made by Collin's own mother, and you have a potentially volatile situation. So, there was no couch interview, no picture of Collin from the 4th, and hopefully he is given some privacy in the future. If that is at the case, then definitely Kate was ordered to stop filming Collin. She would never stop using him as a means of income and attention unless she was forced to do so. Fame and money mean far more to her than the emotional well-being of her kids. Given the choice, she would film the crap out of the kids until they are of age, then cut them loose and make them deal with any emotional issues on their own. Not her problem! Poor Collin. I think Robert recognized what was going on long before anyone else, and did what little he could to help him. His heart was in the right place.
Of course, if Collin is not filmed in the future, Kate will take full credit, saying that she didn't think it was good for him and she wanted to spare him from further exposure. When sit back and wait for her fans to praise her for putting Collin first. She'll follow it up with, "But…the show must go on!" Wait for it.
Even if Jon wins custody of Hannah, she will still have visitation with her mother. And Kate will take lots of pictures to post and "prove" that Hannah still lives with her.

I know how much I loved my animals as a kid, and it would've killed me to not live with them.
Maybe a boy will leave, but even that's so hard because those boys are thick as thieves.

You are not going to believe this. I was washing dishes at my kitchen sink, looked out to the deck and I did a double take. A mom cat with four kittens! Again! I have no idea where this one came from. I never saw her before. What do these cats do...hang out a sign, "Cat House. Vacancy. Room at the Inn." Word gets around the area, and they know where to find shelter and food,

It's just my theory. I think a custody hearing happened before they filmed th couch scenes and he was already at a boarding school or Jon had custody of him (or maybe he won the right not to film). He wasn't in the Fourth pictures either.

Over In TFW's County...166....When we had our farm in Ontario, our two barn cats had litters at the same time. No sooner had we found good homes for the kittens we found a box of (new) kittens left in out lane way.
After caring for all 6 of them until they were ready for adoption I posted an ad in our local newspaper that started as follows....."Abandoned in our driveway, six helpless kittens". The phone rang off the wall and we placed them all in good homes.
It sounds to me that the word is out on how good you are to strays, and
someone decided to let you take responsibility for their cat and kittens. People can be so heartless, but you'll sort it out!

Correction on Kelly Rutherford. She has been fighting for her children for 6 years, not 3. Wow. There is no way on earth I would send my kids back to France at the end of the summer. Her ex hasn't even applied for a Visa yet. Tough cookies.

I sort it out by adopting them! You all said I'd get attached to the last rescues and that's exactly what happened. Then the one rescue gave birth in my guest bedroom. Fun times! I did not, however, keep her kittens. They are now big, beautiful cats that stayed together in a great home (indoors) with kids who love them.

There is something really "off" about this. Not only isn't it healthy, but it's not normal. Kids do not stay inside in the summer and watch themselves on television, re-visiting their childhood, good memories or not.

Redbird you need to do a little more research into the whole Kelly Rutherford custody thing. There's a lot more to the story than you may think and sometimes the kids may be better off with the dad.
The issue: watching edited shows that are not the actual memories. In other words, it's brainwashing. Perhaps her hope is that the kids will substitute their real memories for what was filmed. What is she running? A concentration camp to make fake memories?

I was obsessed with videotaping my kid. We have videos from when she was a newborn. Of course the first tape held maybe three months and the last maybe two years, but, you don't need a reality show to do that. She and her cousins crack up watching themselves (every once in a blue moon, usually around a milestone)

Kate's behavior is absolutely deplorable. If she wants to sit in her room and reminisce about the good old days, she should do it alone instead of constantly replaying old episodes of their TV shows. She probaby sobs and then Hannah has to comfort her. Is the tea party episode the same one where Kate says she realized on the airplane that her marriage was over? If so, that must be hard for Hannah to watch since Kate said Hannah's the one who has the most difficult time dealing with the divorce.

During the birthday episode, Kate made one of the girls apologize for shoving her sister (for running her over ON PURPOSE). She said she didn't care if she was embarrassing her in front of her friends.
Uh, hello! That girl was getting yelled at by her mom in front of a million people.
It was appropriate to address it, but on film. I can't imagine those kids aren't mortified that everything gets broadcast.
Case in point, the kids who cried when Kate told them she was going to Mexico without them. That was beyond cruel and it really adds insult to injury to film it.
BTW, if I were staying in the hotel when they were filming for the birthday, I would have opened my door and told her to stfu.
All the noise she was making late at night and early the next morning was ridiculous.
Pick up the fucking phone and call instead of knocking on the door like a battle ram.

It's not just that they're watching film of their "memories." It's their memories but warped. Our memories don't have take two or take 10 where we try it til we get it right. Our memories aren't pieced and spliced. Yes, some of the bad behavior is shown. But I bet a lot is not shown. How are the kids supposed to remember life? The way it happened or the film they watch over and over?
