Recap: Celebrity Apprentice Episode Six: That low-down dirty bird!

Last time on Celebrity Apprentice! The teams had a whale of a good time doing tours for Circle Line, and the announcer, you know that guy who pronounces Kate's name Goz-land, lol, is loving the maritime puns too. Who doesn't? Kenya and Geraldo were both awkward on their tours, but Geraldo was awkwarder, so Sig's team lost and Sig had to be fired.  On the second task, Kate was PM, and Vivica and Kenya couldn't stop fighting. You know how when a fight goes on so long you can't even remember what started it? That's what's happening here. I really can't remember why it is Vivica hates Kenya and Kenya hates Vivica. Or maybe we never really saw what instigated it. In any case, their feud only seems to be getting worse. This all really distracted Doofus, who for some reason couldn't just ignore it or tell them to knock it off and get back to work. In the boardroom it kind of looked like Kate might slither by again because Kenya and Vivica couldn't stop whining about how much the other one sucked and both of them forgot about their common enemy, Kate, but mercifully, Trump fired Kate after all. They don't really show this in the brief recap, but that whole scene was hysterical in the sense that Kate really believed she didn't have a chance of going home. She just kept bobbling and pointing her thumb over at Vivica and Kenya the whole time, sort of like, see what I mean? Lol. She was certain either Vivica or Kenya would go, completely oblivious to the fact that they are both infinitely smarter and stronger players than she ever was. She never once believed she was also an option. If there's one thing she's excellent at, it's creating her own fantasy of how things are and will be, and believing it full throttle.

I guess sometimes that sort of attitude works for people, like believing you can become a doctor or win an Olympic medal or an Oscar and then making it happen. But it sure is funny to watch Kate employ it in such a delusional manner and then fall flat on her face lol.

Back in the suites everyone is so distracted by Kenya! They can't stop talking about her. Kate was born lucky. Of course there is a diva and narcissist bigger than her on her season everyone is gunning for instead of Kate.  Ian admits Kenya's actually a strong player but there's too much drama with Brandi which slows things down.  It seems to me many of them think they'd be better off without her. Haha, Brandi's face says it all when she sees Kenya's still here. Lol.

I think it's inappropriate that Geraldo says he felt like he was in Afghanistan in that boardroom. I mean, a whole lot of good men and women died there. But Geraldo doesn't seem to ever understand why something he says, or does, might be inappropriate or insensitive. That's just Geraldo.

Lol, "to Kate Plus 8," they all say as they toast with their wine and champagne. I find that rather amusing in the sense that it's true, she's nothing if she's just Kate. She's Kate plus eight. Her whole identity is wrapped up in that branding.

You know I hate to say it, but even though a few people really couldn't stand Kate, like the awesome trifecta of Brandi, Vivica and Kenya, it seems like most of the rest of the players didn't really mind her, or were at least indifferent.  I think though that could be more because they didn't see her as much of a threat or competition. There were bigger fish to worry about it. Kate was superfluous in their minds, mostly harmless. She wasn't going to win a task for them of course, but she usually wasn't going to cause a bunch of problems either, with a few rare exceptions. She'd go eventually, so there was no harm in dragging her along. (But as I said in my last recap, be careful with that mindset!)

Awesome, they're in the International Center of Photography. Photography is one of my great passions. Dare I say photography right now has never been more exciting. What is so incredible about photography in 2015, and one reason I love it so much, is it's one of the few art forms where once you buy the initial equipment, it doesn't cost hardly anything to practice with it. You could shoot 1,000 photos a day and play with Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom for eight hours every day for a ten buck a month subscription, the same as Netflix. So people are getting a ton of practice in, like they never did before with film because nobody could afford to process 1,000 negatives. As a result, people are getting good. I mean, really freaking good. There are so many folks I could recommend to you, but if I had to pick just one I'd say check out Marc Adamus. He's a young guy, been shooting about ten years, and he's practiced so much between his shooting and Photoshop he's become a real magician. I just love his work.

As for me, I've been at it about two, maybe three years. I'm nowhere near Marc's level, but it's exciting to look at my work at the beginning compared to now and see my growth. Here's one of mine I'm proud of, at this lovely little beach called Hermosa last weekend.

Anyway, this is cool, they're going to create a photograph and hashtag campaign for King's Hawaiian, including shots of New York. NYC is very photogenic, so this should be all fun. I'm not really into King's breads, they're too soft for me. I know, I know, that's what she said. I actually really can't stand them, mostly because of the texture. But I know people absolutely obsessed with the bread, who won't throw a party without them. They're super popular on the West Coast, there's like half a grocery aisle devoted to their products in every store.

Johnny and Kenya will be PMs. Lol, Kenya. This should be good.

Johnny says he wants to step up to win more money for his charity. You know, I believe him, and I like him. I don't recall very many other contestants as focused on why they are really here as Johnny is. Certainly never Kate.

Lol, Brandi thinks Ian is stuck in the 80's with his stupid slogan ideas. Johnny quickly goes with Brandi's idea of "rise to the occasion." That's somewhat clever. As clever as you usually see on this show. Always smarter to go with Brandi over Ian anyhow.

Ian thinks a cool thing to do is have the Statute of Liberty clutching some bread. Oh, I thought she had gone low carb. Ian knows somebody who has a helicopter to get this done. Of course he does. He knows everybody. He knows somebody in just about every profession there ever was, and he has their cell numbers. Johnny is just sort of cracking up. I know, it's just funny. Where did he meet all these people? He sounds like an expert schmoozer. You know the type who won't leave the party without taking to every single person and getting their contact info, just in case 20 years down the line he needs a helicopter. Few others have the sort of energy for such things, but Ian is a robot so that's not an issue.

Kenya and Vivica are still talking about the boardroom from earlier. Lol. Remarkably, the girls agree to wipe the slate clean, although Vivica says she doesn't buy it. Kenya has a super risky concept that kind of grosses me out, about superimposing the buns on a model's butt cheeks. Geraldo suggests Kenya be one of the models. Eww. Kenya is like, uh, yeah, no. Lol. Kenya now wants to put a baby in the ad, who I guess is sort of hormonal or something and wants him some butt buns. Geraldo hates that idea, and he's the king of bad ideas. Right? It's weird!

Johnny and Ian take their helicopter ride to take photos of the city. Speaking for nerdy photographers, this is an awful day for photos. It's way too sunny and bright out, the sky is a boring flat blue, and they're shooting in the middle of the day when it's really contrasty, a big no-no. Most real photographers wouldn't bother to go out today, or would have tried it at sunrise or sunset. But they're under such severe time constraints they don't have a choice. Ian as usual can't believe how amazing he is to have arranged all this.

Timelapse guy, however, knows what he's doing and can go out under the best conditions for incredible shots, and he got a sweet timelapse of Central Park under big puffy cotton ball clouds that they splice in as we cut to Kenya's team. Kenya is just recruiting models right off the street. Lol, that's awkward. In the past I seem to remember Celebrity Apprentice would pull models from a local talent agency. What happened to that? Kenya doesn't seem to be mentioning to any of these people they intend to superimpose buns on their buns. You might want to bring that up before they sign on.

Kenya tells Vivica that Vivica's not fit enough to be one of the models. Haha, Kenya! She makes Vivica hold her jacket and purse. Vivica's face, hehe. F--- ety F----! is Vivica's answer to this. Ha, she's losing it.

This is the most awkward, stupidest photoshoot ever. In one of the scenes a couple walks by Kenya and the guy's head turns to look at Kenya's butt. In another there's a toddler in a stroller and Vivica sitting in front of him. It's all just so odd. And how did we go from Vivica not allowed to be in the shoot f--ety f--- to Vivica front and center? Again the quick editing is leaving out huge important chunks of information.

"Coat!" Kenya cries. Lol, Vivica runs over and covers her majesty up so she doesn't get herself all chilly. Vivica feels unappreciated, as assistants often tend to.

Over at Johnny's team, they're photoshopping the cityscape shots. They're squabbling over the hashtags, Leeza says they are not mentioning King's Hawaiian enough, both in the hashtags and on the bread in the photos. She's really fighting for this, which is a nice change from when before she's sort of looked the other way when things went wrong. It's too late in the game to let stuff like that go, she's playing this game just right. You have to fight and stand your ground at this stage or you're done. Diplomacy won't work at this hour.

Over at Team Diva, Vivica can't find her phone anywhere. She doesn't understand this, as she had just set it right down on the table and now it disappeared. Lol, I see where this one is going. Vivica is very distracted, thinking about all the contacts and personal info on her phone. I think it must be different to lose your phone as a celeb. You and all your celebrity friends could be the next big news story if the right person gets into it, which wouldn't happen if you or I lost our phones. Everyone should both lock their phone with a password and learn how you can swipe your iphone clear remotely with a computer if you ever lose it. Still, with today's smart hackers I can see how she would be worried anyway. I know what eventually happened here, Kenya stole the phone and tweeted from it. Kenya absolutely should not have done that and in fact was breaking the law in so doing it, but this whole thing could have been avoided if Vivica simply password protected her phone.

When they actually superimpose the buns on the models, it looks even stupider than some of them originally thought. Both Geraldo and Vivica think they should scrap that dumb idea. "Edgy" is putting it mildly, Geraldo.

Kenya's getting violent now, threatening to back that infamous bus over Vivica a hundred times until Vivica is crying out in agony every bone in her body broken begging her to please show her mercy.

Mercy, mercy! Then, Kenya will cremate her and add her ashes to a box of cat litter. Whoa. This feud just took a rather creepy turn. Vivica is now certain her phone was stolen. I think she would be right about that if I do say so myself!

Commercials. H&R Block is using the same "Money" song used in the Apprentice credits and their guy sort of shouts in much the same way Trump does.

Trump was upset about this. Because apparently if he pays for the rights to use a song way back in 2004, nobody else can do the same ten years later. And also nobody else is allowed to shout or they are clearly impersonating him. Last month, he told Block they suck for doing this. Leave it to Trump to be this immature. I think it's funny that this Block commercial is now running during Trump's show. Sort of a nice little F-U. Well played.

Johnny spends a long time explaining why he left the presenting to Leeza, but that needs no explanation. Why is Johnny's suitcoat 3 sizes too big? Or is that a jacket? Their project is badly photoshopped but it's rather cute, especially the one where Leeza and Brandi are sailing away on a bun balloon. I don't understand the buns on the building under construction. Buns are so light and flimsy, how would it support the structure? I'm overthinking this I'm sure.

Kenya presents, and goodness seeing it in front of the nice Hawaiian executives their concept seems even more embarrassing. One executive can hardly look at the baby one it's so awkward, hehe. Also, not really a baby. More like a toddler, which for some reason makes it seem weirder to me. Trump Jr. looks nauseous. I don't think the other team's concept was all that interesting either, but this is far worse.

Boardroom time. I hope we get to the bottom of cell phone gate soon, that's been the most interesting part of this episode so far.

I don't think Trump really was thinking about Leeza that much as a factor, but he has to admit he realizes everyone seems to think she's awesome. It's been obvious since the beginning she should make it to the end, glad to see he's caught up.

Predictably, Kenya thinks Geraldo was amazing but Vivica was just "good." Tee-hee. Kenya claims Vivica wasn't feeling well. Vivica's like, what??? No, I was fine. I gave 100%!

Rear ends are trendy on the internet-webs? I must be looking at a different internet-webs than Kenya. All I see is the great blue-black/gold-white debate on my internet-webs. (For the record, it's gold white!)

The executives liked Johnny's team and their skyline photos but felt the hashtags weren't on brand. They liked the viral characteristic of Kenya's campaign, but of course, they felt it wasn't family friendly and the baby thing was totally creepy. God, yes it was! Johnny's team wins it. It wasn't even close apparently. That's five wins in a row for that team.

Trump says Kenya really didn't help the losing team by going over there. Ouch. Vivica thinks Geraldo enabled Kenya and her bad ideas. The guy is kind of a bad idea magnet though.

Leeza and Ian are like, what were they thinking going sexy? This family company has been around for ages, if they ever wanted to sex things up they would have done so by now. Duh. What a stupid decision. Vivica thinks Kenya is toxic.

Geraldo breaks it down for Trump as if he's not completely crazy himself. Kenya's idea was crap, and Vivica didn't do much. Well, in fairness, it didn't seem like Kenya was really letting Vivica do anything. Vivica's still pissed that she was told she couldn't be a model. Lol, never poke a celeb's ego. You'll pay for it for days.  Are these two girls too dumb to realize they could team up and get Geraldo fired? I mean everybody else has said they think he's the weak link, despite all his bluster. I'm starting to think they're right.

Kenya says Vivica tweeted the other day that she's going through menopause, so maybe that had something to do with her poor performance.  Haha, Vivica freaks out, calling her a "dirty-ass bitch." That's a new one, and a good one. This is not the ghetto! Kenya insists.

That's the only place you'll be prevalent in, Vivica retorts. Oh shit. This is a knock down drag out. Don't hurt me, but a teeny, tiny part of me wishes Kate were still sitting here, just to see some good shocked and awed faces while this is all going down. It would really help round this all out. For some odd reason this doesn't seem to excite Trump Jr. too much. Rather he looks like he's struggling to stay awake.

Vivica has hit on Kenya's Achilles heel, and now just throws things out like "Ghetto Star." Lol. Both Leeza and Ian agree the menopause comment is way out of line.

Vivica says she did not tweet anything about menopause. Why isn't she mentioning that she couldn't have tweeted that because her phone has been stolen since at least yesterday? How long is it going to take these doofuses to realize that Kenya did it? It's so obvious, and it's taking forever for them to put two and two together. Kenya keeps bringing it up, made some mention of just starting to follow Vivica, and won't let it go. Wake up, she did it!

Vivica's like, wtf, I don't even tweet that often, I'm more of an Instagram girl. I know, Instagram is so much better!

By the way, how pathological do you have to be to assert that somebody tweeted something knowing full well that that person knows they never tweeted it and knows their phone was missing during that time period so it would be impossible to have tweeted that even if they wanted to? How did Kenya ever expect to pull this off?? Bizarre.

Trump says Kenya should prove it to him or be fired. But how would just showing him the tweet prove anything? Hey, this is a great example of a concept a lot of people don't understand about the court of law and proof. Having an email, or text, or tweet for that matter, unfortunately does not necessarily prove that the person it is "from" really was the person who sent it. Sometimes you can spend days in court trying to show that nobody else could have had access to that computer, or whatever, etc. It's super hard to demonstrate the sender is who it says it is, rendering such evidence useless sometimes even if common sense says they sent it.

Trump Jr. finds the tweet: "This menopause is killing me. I can't think straight. I might be a damn fool half the time. 50 just isn't sexy." (In the actual tweet, "is" is mistakenly spelled as "id")

Trump immediately cannot believe she would actually say that. Neither can the rest of America, there's just no way, even in a drunk text. I'm curious whether any of her twitter fans actually thought that was a real tweet. I'm betting many were skeptical, especially since it doesn't even sound like her.

Why does Kenya look so smug? She's gonna get caught with this, it's inevitable. If you're going to fake a tweet, at least make it credible. She insulted Vivica four times in the tweet, come on. Even Doofus would never be this dumb or do something this stupid, congratulations you even topped her. There's a line you can cross where being this nuts isn't fun anymore and becomes rather scary instead. Ian's brand of bananas is fun. Kenya's has long ago crossed the border into frightening land.

Vivica finally realizes oh wait my phone was stolen and "this low-down dirty bird" (lol, I love Vivica) must have taken it and tweeted from it!!! My God, took her long enough.

Geraldo has to back it up that yes her phone was stolen, and he realizes it too! The Trumps look like they're kind of buying this, thank God. Trump Jr. is smart in that he says he read some other tweets of Vivica's, which are indeed kind of sparse, and they're all about god bless you and positive shit like that. One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong.

Kenya's all like come now, you can't be serious. Would little ole me do that??? Hehe.

Trump is totally buying this whole convoluted mess! So awesome! Trump and the Jr. are all like, well who else would do this? The tweet has grammatical errors for pity sake and doesn't really make sense. What did Kenya think, they were going to blame this on Geraldo? There's really no one else they could pin this on. She's so dumb.

Why is the other Trump Jr. not saying anything? He's totally mute this whole time. Maybe he's just popping the popcorn like I am now, drinking a soda.

Trump's all like, they lost because of you Kenya, you didn't help your team, and it's really serious if you stole her phone. Like, really serious. You're fired Kenya!

Good grief, I'm happier Kenya was fired than I was Kate was fired last week. Thank God.

Vivica cannot even look at her and literally gives her the hand and just tells her to "bounce."

Vivica, go file a police report. Seriously. You can't just steal somebody's phone. It's ridiculous and is breaking the law and psycho Kenya needs to be put in her place. What's more, she doesn't even have the phone back yet. It's still missing. Kenya still has it!

Kenya can't make eye contact as she says this accusation she stole the phone is the most ridiculous thing she ever heard. I agree, it's ridiculous in the sense that I can't believe you did that.

Haha, Geraldo's all like, oh my god, I can't believe this phone thing! That was like committing a crime! It's LIKE committing a crime? Geraldo, you're an attorney. Stealing is a crime. There is no special exception for Kenya, reality shows, or the Trump boardroom. She stole, plain and simple and Vivica should call the police, plain and simple. It was a freaking gift Vivica didn't have that nutjob arrested.

Haha, Vivica is so mad she's practically crying. Dirty trick! she exclaims. She and Geraldo are being so loud in the hallway Brandi can hear them, and immediately begins rejoicing that her nemesis is gone. Hehe!

The winners also can't believe the phone thing.

"What's next, poison?" Geraldo says. No kidding! Geez! Easily one of the worst things that's ever happened on this show. Kenya was psycho, period. Also I resent her for making Kate look like a victim. She does not deserve such a gift.

Just a few final thoughts on Kenya. It's really sad that your self-esteem is so low that your only game plan on this show is to sabotage other contestants. She did it to Brandi, she did it to Vivica, and quite frankly she even went too far with Kate, taking completely unnecessary pot shots at her. It's desperate and unoriginal. Did it ever occur to Kenya that menopause is not too far away for herself? She's forty-four, she has only five to ten years left before she's going down that road. How would she feel to be made fun of this brutally? Kenya was not a bad player. She had decent ideas and she worked hard. What is missing inside of you that you can't just rely on those strengths like Leeza or Brandi do, and forget all this drama? What a sad little woman. Goodbye, Kenya.

Next up, they're going to be making a jingle for Anheuser Busch's lime drinks. The legend Joan Rivers is back!

Trump switches Leeza over to Geraldo and Vivica's team. I'd like to think this show isn't scripted but I know that's not always true, and knowing the outcome, this already looks like a set-up to be able to get rid of a bunch of weaker players at once so we can get down to business with the finals. Leeza feels pressure to help the team win. It will be Leeza and Brandi as PMs. Aw, that stinks since they both work so well together. They have a genuine friendship, says Brandi. But they'll be mature about this competition, so that's fine and I'm sure it won't come between them.

Predictably, Geraldo has bad ideas. Leeza steers him onto more of a sports style jingle and pitches much better ideas of her own. Geraldo seems upset her idea is not Latino or about Rita. Rita? Oh, Lime-a-rita. Cute. Leeza says no, we need to focus on coming up with a jingle you can't get out of your head. Yes, exactly. I don't like jingles and I watch as few commercials as possible, I even usually mute them if I can't fast forward them, but she's right that a jingle should get stuck in your head. I remember this one jingle or song from years ago for SmartforLife, a company that looks slightly shady or gimmicky, and my God, I'm still singing that thing today. They borrowed the line "who stole a cookie from the cookie jar" from a classic children's song, but they sang it in a way that made it stick to your head like superglue.  I even sang it to my dog once like a total freak. It's just bad.

Leeza finally borrows one of Geraldo's lines about it being nice over ice, praising him profusely for it, which seems to appease him.

Ian requires absolute silence for his brilliance to flow. Lol, Brandi says they can't talk when "the Lord" is speaking, tee-hee.

I am still debating whether Ian just created this narcissistic, ego-maniac nutjob character for this show as some kind of bizarre self-marketing strategy to get people talking about him I guess, or if this is how he really is. I'm leaning more toward the former after he made a few over the top comments last week that I can't possibly believe he really feels. If it is in fact the former, it could just be one of the most brilliant things anyone has ever done on this show to draw attention to themselves. I mean, he gets more airtime every time he acts like a freak, and it gets viewers talking. About him. Otherwise he could end up kind of forgettable like Johnny, bless his heart.

After all of the Lord our father in heaven's efforts, Brandi and Johnny hate his ideas. The composer, engineer and musicians arrive. Johnny apparently is a musician and has a lot of music friends and is trying to come up with something good, but Ian butts in with another dumb idea to the tune of La Cucaracha. Brandi is really getting annoyed with Ian, to the point where she has to give him something to keep him busy to get him out of her hair. Brandi says Ian is great at everything all in his little head. Lol, he does literally have a little head when most celebs have big ones, which makes him look out of place.

As for Ian, he thinks Brandi is indecisive. He has misinterpreted Brandi trying not to piss him off as indecisiveness.

Things are really flowing at Leeza's team. Their jingle is working. Except for Geraldo. He keeps pushing his ideas, which are totally different than what the girls are working on.

Why in the world is Geraldo bringing up his war correspondent experience again? It really has nothing to do with anything this time, and just sounds like more name-dropping from him, which is getting really obnoxious. He keeps pushing his dumb ideas which even the professional musicians are explaining to him would be really difficult to make work. Leeza calls him aggressive. She's finally had it with him and has to basically tell him NO to his bad ideas.

Brandi listens to both Johnny and Ian's jingles, and really likes Johnny's. But Ian starts pouting "like a little bitch" Brandi says, hehe. It's totally true, he's being a big baby. She finally loses it on him and calls him condescending and disrespectful. He starts insulting her performance, saying the only thing she's good at is using a pen to cross things out and has brought "zero" to this. Whoa, way out of line! This isn't Kate! How come Kate wasn't really picked on like this? How does she get away with everything? Brandi has experience with cat fights and knows what she's doing. She tells him he needs to sit there and shut the F up. Hehe.

Geraldo finally seems to realize that hey, I've lost five tasks, I might as well let Leeza call the shots here and see if it goes any better than when I was running things. Fair enough. Their jingle turned out to be sort of a rap that isn't that bad, "mix it, love it, drink it up!" Vivica and Leeza are dancing like nobody's business. Hehe.

While Leeza's team seemed to have nailed things down, Brandi's team is floundering with absolutely ridiculous jingles that are more stupid and uninteresting than catchy. Johnny's jingle is a little better, sounds like something you might actually hear on a real commercial, but Ian hates it of course, shaking his head in disgust. Brandi says for sure they're going with Johnny's, it's sexy and creative. And there's nothing I-an can do about it, hehe. I think Ian is right that it's a little hard to understand the words, but that doesn't make the jingle worse than his idea.

Time for the presentations, and the choreography for Leeza's team is good, the jingle snazzy. Go, go, go Lime-a-rita or something like that. The executives including Joan and one of the Trump Jrs. seems to really enjoy this. Joan is clapping vigorously. Aw.

Brandi's team performs theirs. They aren't quite as into it as Leeza's team, and I have to admit it sounds rather wordy. The judges seem to like this one too.  Johnny, bless his heart, has always reminded me of Curious George. There, I said it. Beautiful skyline sunset timelapse, photographers.

Geraldo and Vivica say Leeza was a real asset to their team. Of course she was, she's great, always has been. I have to say it makes me feel somewhat proud that I called this one so right. I shared in the first recap that I know friends of Leeza's. And I don't mean people that once met her at a party. I mean they're so close that they even have traveled abroad with her and their respective kids. Anyway, they say she's just a gem. It is nice to see their description of her validated episode after episode.

In her final act Joan Rivers really isn't getting much of an edit. She's barely said a thing this whole episode and is mostly just sitting there sometimes looking rather out of it. Kind of disappointing, I miss her zingers.

Oh Lord, Geraldo compares himself to Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. Gimme a break, Geraldo. These questions are starting to get boring. Who cares what Leeza thinks of Geraldo? Of course she's going to say he's great. This team is too low drama and boring, hehe. Leeza says they were in an "emotional coma" after cell phone gate. Lol.

The questions to Brandi's team are equally boring. Trump, Johnny and Brandi look orange, and Ian looks pink and purple. Uh-oh, Johnny chokes when asked to sing his jingle. Brandi says she could sing it but she's a bad singer. I totally get that, it's obvious the whole singing thing has embarrassed her from the beginning and it would me too. I absolutely hate singing for others, I'm terrible and I won't do it. Ian retorts she should step up. The hell? Trump asked Johnny to sing it, not Brandi. Ian is being a baby who says he thinks they might have lost. Whatever. Even Trump seems to think that's a bit disloyal. Haha, Trump refuses to hear Ian sing his jingle. Exactly, what the heck does that matter?

Joan says the branding and ice in the jingle was good, but it was too wordy, which is what I said, and wasn't catchy. They also found "señorita" was too man-based when this brand is for both genders. I would have thought this brand was for women actually. Wine coolers usually are. Where I'm from if you're a man and drink this thing all your buddies will call you a wuss. But if they say it's for both that's what they should have targeted.

As for Leeza, the executives loved "nice over ice" and "for the thirsty in your life." Geraldo's ego explodes, as he came up with both of those ideas. There weren't any negatives! Wow! They win it of course. Because Leeza is all class and refuses to hold grudges, she pats Geraldo on the chest even though he was extremely disruptive to her on this task. She understands exactly how to handle Geraldo. She handles him in much the same way Kate did, lavishing him with praise and admiration. Except Kate really meant it, and was not smart enough to realize that as smart as he may be he has consistently been a disruption. Leeza's just stroking his ego to appease him because she's savvy.

I of course love Leeza's charity for caretakers of Alzheimer's, as that has affected my family very deeply. This money will allow her charity to open in her hometown, she says as she chokes up. This is where this show is about more than satisfying guilty pleasures, it's doing something really good for a lot of fine charities.

Brandi too is all class and says you really shouldn't fire Johnny, it should be Ian or myself. That's just being truthful. Some people hang onto their ethics during these shows to their own detriment, and I have to admit I wouldn't have expected that of Brandi. It's kind of a bummer they're going down in flames not because they didn't work as hard or as smart or as fast, but because one team wrote a better song. I mean, you can be the strongest candidate in the room but you might not be able to write a jingle and would fail this task. Is Trump really concerned about the winner's ability to write a jingle? Doesn't really seem fair, but then reality T.V. is not fair!

Brandi says Ian is disrespectful, to which Ian interrupts her by laughing, proving her point.

Ugh, normally Trump's chauvinism doesn't really bother me and as a working woman I tend to believe we see less chauvinism today than we ever did before. By no means do I witness it every day or even every month. Maybe once a year, tops. We have come a long way since the Mad Men days, and women my age should be appreciative of where we are and all the women before us who paved the way for a friendly workplace. But Trump says, nah, Ian's just very confident and doesn't suffer fools. Why is it if a business woman is disrespectful, it's disrespectful? But if a business man is disrespectful, that's not disrespect, that's just confidence and not suffering fools. It makes me so mad I could spit on that little pile of pee hair.

Ian is convinced his jingle would have won, and now Trump finally says fine, fine let's hear this so called winning jingle. Ian sings it. Trump is like WTF, that's La Cucaracha! WTF were you thinking you dummie, you can't just copy a song, it's not even legal! LOL! The last thing Ian wants to do is try to get Trump on board with ripping somebody else's idea off, not after H&R Block-gate. Ian says well I never intended to rip off La Cucaracha for that jingle, it was more like a springboard to other ideas. Yes, just like Sam Smith never intended to rip off Tom Petty, of course not! Snark! Trying to explain copyright laws to Ian is like trying to explain child support laws to a sheeple. Not gonna happen.

I am not at all surprised neither Trump nor Joan understand why the heck it matters that you had some song you couldn't use but that you were going to use that to springboard it into something you could use. That makes no sense whatsoever. Ian's completely batty and they finally realized it. I just love that Trump validates Brandi about Ian and so does Brandi apparently. Of course that's the dumbest idea ever. Thank you, Trump.

Am I going crazy here? Trump asks. At some point everyone who spends significant time around somebody as nuts as Ian asks that, it's normal.

Ian is gaslighting, now trying to claim that he never said they should use his jingle, oh, no, that's not what I meant. Except that he just said that and said that many times before. Shaking my head. I really wish he would fire Ian and only Ian, he's a freak who didn't help whatsoever on this task.

Lol, Eric finally says yes, you're right, Dad. I think that's the first thing he's said in two hours. "Good son," Trump says. Tee-hee!

Ian, you're fired!

Brandi and Johnny try to leave but Trump tells them to sit down. Oh, no. He says he wants to fire somebody else. This is so unfair. Boo!

Brandi refuses to say anything bad about Johnny. She is willing to get fired refusing to throw that good man under the bus. Eric tries to help her saying what about the fact that Johnny wrote the jingle? Brandi says yes but I approved it. Johnny also won't say anything bad, says Brandi is a kind woman, they've been through so much and they'll be friends for life. Geez, I didn't know they were such good friends. I think that means a lot coming from him. I am pleased that credible people on this show really took to Brandi and count her as a real, serious good friend, as I always quite liked her. I love to be right about D list reality stars, my ego explodes like Geraldo.

Trump looks to Joan for help. Now what the hell do I do??

Joan's like hell if I know, lol. She says ultimately I guess it comes down to the PM, but this seems upsetting to her, she even says I can't deal with this. Wow. Brandi looks at Joan with respect and admiration and says she understands. Brandi, you are a class act.

Trump says Johnny is fired, and Brandi breaks into tears. Then two seconds later Trump says Brandi you are also fired. Oh no, what a tragedy.

Brandi and Johnny both seem very upset. They hug and tell each other it's all good. Aw.

How are they going to show all three of them in the car? They might kill each other.

Thankfully Ian got a separate car I guess and doesn't get to do his goodbye car scene. Haha, ignorant fool. Johnny and Brandi are in the same car together and say nice things like that they are so glad they met each other and it was great to help the charities. That's nice.

The other day I was reading Entertainment Weekly, which I get for free with my airline miles (this grifter can't beat a free deal!) and writer Dalton Ross called this show the "best bad show in the history of television." I concur. It's so bad it's good. I get sucked into the stupid drama with Vivica and Kenya or Brandi trying to manage crazy Ian. I like when Sig freaks out and almost punches his fist through a bar, or Shawn whines about her period only to have somebody bring that up in the boardroom, or Kate blows the whole thing by sitting her ass in hair and makeup all day. The tasks are quirky and fun. I love the Trumps and their weirdness, awkwardness, one-liners, slobbering, and occasional grace. I love Ivanka, Joan and George and the other eyes and ears. There is no other celebrity reality show as badly well done as this one. It's a shitshow, but it's a shitshow I want tickets to. Until next time.

Yes, Admin, there are mediocre and even poor performers in every line of work, and with the advent of the internet and blogging and the demand for instant gratification, more and more are showing up. We're often assaulted with their mediocrity when we open a link to read the news. I and many of my generation find it disconcerting since it is happening more and more frequently and is no doubt a sign of the times.

I won't even start on the poor grammar one finds in book these days.

Reston, writing political columns, had to meet certain criteria or the stories would not be published. Editing was a big deal. It's a great book and insight into what went on in the newspaper publishing business in the "old days." Accuracy, content and proper grammar were tantamount. Typos, of course, happen. That's not what I'm talking about.

-----------------

Ah, back in the day of manual typewriters, linotypes and hot type, when you told a rookie to bring you a left-handed mallet and he went in search of one. Wasn't it also Harrison Ford, as well as a famous race car driver?

What really ticks me off about Kate's ungratefulness and whining is that she didn't have to drive in the mess we've just had. She didn't go to work, negotiating slippery roads, watching cars spin out in front of her, and having it take two hours to get there when it normally takes 20 minutes. She could sit at home and tweet, knowing that she didn't have to venture out. All of her children were safe and sound at home.

I know there are a few Big Bang Theory fans here. The show is doing something so great, it's worth sharing. The actress who voiced the always unseen but very loud Mrs Wolowitz, Howard's mother, was Carol Ann Susi, and she really died last November. She was much loved and admired by the cast and crew, and fans of the show.
Fans wondered how the show would handle it. They have handled it with grace and humor. Mrs. Wolowitz the character died on the show two weeks ago, quietly, in her sleep, while visiting her sister in Florida. So far Howard and Bernadette his wife have been to Florida and come back with her ashes (which were temporarily lost by the airline). The promos for next week promise to be a great show. Howard and Bernadette are at Mrs. Wolowitz house looking at the freezer full of food and decide to have a dinner with all the things she fixed. "It will be like she is feeding is all again". Howard says in the promo.
As with all dinners at the Wolowitz house, this one should be funny and also heart warming.
I think it's great that the show is not just saying, oh the characters dead now, never to mention her again. Instead they are showing the characters dealing with loss over time. One reason this show is still so successful, the characters grow and change over time. It's never the same old stuff. Plus the writing and acting is hysterical.

The internet is a double edged sword when it comes to journalism. On the one hand it has offered this amazing opportunity for anyone to share information they know. I would rather someone tweet about an important news event like the Boston bombing because they are there and know what is happening, than not tweet because they are not much of a writer and are afraid of the grammar police. People who might not be able to afford college or have the gumption to do it can become journalists anyway. On the other hand, there are no filters for such folks. We all have become a "journalist" about the Gosselins just by having this blog and sharing information we have here. We have no editors or other filters, we just post what we know and of course there are mistakes sometimes but I don't see it as a good use of money to get a copyeditor team.

I still wonder if it's not so much our writing is getting worse, it's that we have allowed anyone to write without much of a check on them. There are no filters. If everyone were a journalist back in the 60's I'm sure there would be just as many mistakes.

Clearly, there are still great writers and editors out there. I've read some great books that were written in this decade and there was nothing wrong with them.

I guess I'm putting on my Freakecnomics hat for this, not really sure of the real cause here. I'm not sure if our writing really IS getting worse because people don't care or whatever, or if it's more due to the twofold circumstances of the people who made the writing pretty like copyeditors being gone in favor of speed, and *anyone* being able to write and "publish" now with no filter on "bad" writers like there used to be.

FlimsyFlamsy said...

Admin (#12), off the top of my head, I think writing may be getting
worse because people may be reading less. With audio books
readily available, the written word has been converted to sound.
And with the advent of binge-watching, I think people are more
likely to spend several hours of leisure on a weekend in front
of a screen, rather than curled up with a book. Absolutely no
judgment on my part over which is "better" - it's a personal
choice everyone is allowed to make about what he or she
finds most entertaining and/or relaxing. But I think the less
frequently people see words and sentences written properly,
the less they'll be able to process/retain that to use in their
own writing. Just my humble, only-had-one-cup-of-coffee-so-far
opinion!

Joy, sometimes I watch old reruns of Big Bang on different channels. In these episodes Sheldon and his girlfriend have never had sex. And correct me if I am wrong, but I think they have dated for several years. It seems the girlfriend would like to pursue their physical relationship but Sheldon is a no go.

Has their physical relationship expanded in the most recent episodes? If not, is Sheldon asexual? Any healthy, young person who has been in a committed relationship for many years and has NO desire for sex has to be asexual, don't you think? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Flimsy, yes. Whatever the root cause of it, I do think it is likely to have a snowball effect on future generations.

There have been studies that we are reading less, so that seems to be true. We don't have as much time as we used to and when we do there are many other opportunities to choose from to be entertained besides books.

I read on kindle for iPad quite a bit but personally I love audio books too because they're so mobile. I'll listen while walking the dog or driving, I've "read" dozens of books that way. I'm more concerned with getting some time in to digest a book than the format I digest it in, that's a reflection of our busy lives.

You know what kills me about Kate's complaining is she has nothing to complain about. She has tons of money for somebody to take care of her property. She admitted once on twitter that somebody removes the snow from her driveway. Think about it, she gets up 1/2 hour before her kids at 5:30 on school mornings. Do you think she goes outside and removes all that snow from her long driveway and the driveway around her garage and home? Hell, no! Somebody does that for her. And she has tons to money to pay for her 560 lbs. of salt too that she complains about.

My goodness, she complains and complains and yet does not have to work. We all know she has eight hours a day to herself in that beautiful house and grounds. That is 40 hours a week to herself. So what if she has to do laundry and some light housekeeping. And every household in the world cooks for their families. She is no different. And frankly I don't think cooking for 5 is much different than cooking for 9. And she has 8 little helpers to help her in the kitchen and then do the dishes.

The only people in her situation that are allowed to complain are the truly overworked mothers who have tight budgets. And they may only have one child too. But they are working 8 hours a day while Kate is sitting at home. And they are worrying their heads off because their paychecks don't cover everything and they don't have ANY savings either. Shame on Kate Gosselin.

Leslie I agree. I usually find most of her complaints trite because it's as easy as a phone call for her to get someone to help her with whatever her desires are. The 1% life she leads is so different from most single moms she could not even begin to grasp it.

I forgot who else pointed out that she doesn't have to go out there on the roads because she doesn't work. It's a great point. She could even send the nanny out to get milk. Growing up, it was not the storms themselves that were the problem, it was having to go out in them. But we had to, because there were bills to be paid and life had to go on. So people do it. Where I'm from a shutdown is rare or we'd be shutting down all the time, even if schools and government are closed most other businesses are open. What happened in Mass. would never shut us down. When you walk into Walmart to get your shovel and ice, all the people working there had to brave the terrible weather and in some cases put themselves at risk to get there. That is part of living in such a climate, and you just deal with it, you get out there on really sketchy roads and you go on with it or move away.

She has no understanding. None.

Hi Leslie. Sheldon on Big Bang freely admits he has trouble with touching, that is part of the character. And he has trouble with lots of social interaction. Couple years ago there was an episode about his secret, every day he goes to empty room in basement of his workplace and plays hackysack for fifteen minutes to relieve his stress. And he wrote number on a board of the most times he could keep the bag in the air. Howard and Raj were going crazy trying to figure out what he did there And what the number meant, he never told them.
Anyway, Sheldon and Amy are still together, they have date night once a week, and he kisses her on date night. And he tells her that is lots of progress for him!
there is a wide variety of normal. Sheldon is normal for him. And it's great that all the characters are different, and accept the differences, and are still friends.

That's sort of how I felt about Kate's area. Admin -- I like your analogy of there always being people who are not good at grammar/spelling/etc, just as there will be people who are not good at math. I'm a dunce in math. I don't understand it, I don't like it, and it is very difficult for me. BUT -- I was taught math in school. Teachers worked with me and tried to help me gain a basic understanding of it, so that I can at least balance a checkbook, keep a fairly accurate running total in my head when I grocery shop, etc. I was raised by an English teacher, so I learned correct grammar at home. However, it was also taught in school. I learned the parts of speech, I learned how to construct a grammatically correct sentence. I learned what verbs and nouns and pronouns and adjectives and adverbs did. That is not being taught in many schools today. Many younger teachers are being taught that emphasizing proper grammar "stifles creativity". Until this fall, I've been volunteering at my Parish's elementary school. Many of the young teachers come in literally saying "I seen" and "You was" and "him and I". They haven't learned it, they cannot teach it, and they model it for their students. So -- yes, not everyone is good at grammar. However, you will never be good at grammar if you're never taught it.

I think one thing really bothering me about Curt is he is painting this picture that the sheeple love that Twitter or the internet is the wild west with no laws and nothing you can do about it, everyone is a victim unless somebody like him comes along to save you.

While it's certainly true people get away with a lot on the internet, it's also true that a lot of things on the internet that make people upset wouldn't be legally actionable in real life anyway. There is no reason however when somebody makes a threat that is illegal as bad as those made to Curt's daughter, you can't have law enforcement handle it just like you would if it happened in real life. Countless others have turned to the authorities for help, and people have been put away quite easily.

I dislike the whole "I'm going to save the internet" thing he has going on here. It's ridiculous and disrespectful to law enforcement and courts of law who are quite capable of handling his situation. And last I checked, criminal threats do not usually carry a life sentence.

There are appropriate punishments that are meant to fit the crime. In many states criminal threats are misdemeanors which carry a hefty fine and about a one year sentence. He doesn't get to decide to go above that and chase people down for the rest of their lives. He too has to follow the law.

The error that both surprises and irritates me the most is when people use the word women when they are talking about one woman. I've noted the reverse as well but not nearly as often.

It baffles me because I can't recall ever seeing the same mistake with the word man. As Kate likes to say, "I just don't get it."

Yes and he does more than imply that he's willing to break the law to seek vengeance on these men for those tweets.

He wrote, "I was also going to mention that there is little in life I’d ever go to jail for, but my daughter is one."

It's tough talk in defense of his daughter for sure, but why does he think he can say something like in one breath and in the next breath declare it's illegal to make threats on the internet? Scratching my head here, because the guy makes no sense.

Moreover, I thought I read somewhere that it is in violation of an impersonation law, not only on the internet, but on the books. I wonder why this hasn't been reported and is allowed to go on, especially since this is a slam at Jon, in terms of defamation and degrading.

Flimsy, I had a "quaint" education.

My sisters and I attended a 3-room schoolhouse. My 8th grade graduation class = 6 boys and 2 girls.

We were taught by elderly (and mostly grouchy) Franciscan nuns. They wished to be retired and not teaching rowdy children.

Every school day began with Mass. During the month of May, mass included saying the rosary.

Recess was on a dusty empty lot. We were segregated by age and gender.

We learned. We learned how to be good Catholics and good citizens and how to behave during a long bus ride.

And, I can diagram a complex sentence!

We have water and views of the Olympic mountain range on one side and on clear days, views of Mount Rainier on the other, with culture, art, food, and coffee everywhere in between. That's sort of how I felt about Kate's area. Those country roads (with a VERY NICE lake park near her), corn growing everywhere, the occasional Amish buggy, the cleanliness, the quaintness of the downtown nearby, etc. It's REALLY nice! And her property is quite beautiful.

----------

I have to agree with you. I live on the East Coast and enjoy so many of the amenities of where I live. Close to beach, mountains, and 4 seasons.

The problem with TFW is that she is never going to be happy with what she has. 3 houses in 9 years, twins, and then just one more (right). Once her father-in-law was helping them, as well as many locals with both bills and care of the tups, she EXPECTED help on a regular basis, and still not grateful. Family/volunteers helping her (after cutting her her own family) ... it just never ends with her.

Enter TLC and her narcissism took over. Donations, church talks, etc.... In her mind, people "owed" her for the priveledge of meeting her. Book signings, cash for photos, etc.

Got rid of Jon, once HE wanted the filming to stop; he was no longer on board with her gravy train. And he was banished.

In the meantime, she continues to film, in spite of so many kids showing opposition, as the show must go on. What mother does that? Takes tweens on a show to say how happy they are (silence from twins - good for them).

The list goes on..... and on...

Poor Henry apparently had a deal about trading eggs for produce, but this is seasonal for Henry. I am sure he has to make money in off seasons to make money to support his family.

He probably did TFW's driveway out of the goodness of his heart, but has "paid" customers to clear their driveways/walks and probably told her he could not do it. If she had been smart, she should probably have been paying him all along, but as usual, TFW thinks she deserves everything for free, as she is TFW with 8 count em 8 kids. She is shameless.

TFW has alienated so many people, it is incomprehensible as it is her way or the highway, and her expectations of other people is so obnoxious and ungrateful. She has been on DWTS ( and hated), WS (was an ass to Kendra) and CA ( a selfish narcissist requiring her body guard to be present for filming) - Who does that?

As we all know, TLC is reportedly changing direction, and she may now be more of a liability than a plus with new staff on board.

Bottom line, is anyone enjoying the behavior of her kids? I think not, as the kids are clearly acting out or very silent. Not a great example of how to raise multiples. Actually the opposite of what any normal person would do to their kids.

TLC has brought many new shows on board, and has a new person in charge so I hope they ignore her, and recognize her ego and behavior of kids and move on to new pastures. TFW would NEVER get this as she thinks this gravy train should go on forever, in spite of the fact that so many of the kids are showing signs of wear and tear (with boys barely speaking and C) and the others calling her out on her BS.

Supermom needs to find her own way to support her kids without Kate Plus 8. She clearly is not an example of anything to be proud of and by now should have found another way to support them without filming them. She is really shameful and it is all about her, and the kids know it. I would be embarrassed if I was her, but that is just me.....

Problem is she knows she is nothing without using her kids. Her appearances on DWTS, WS, and CA were a complete joke.

Tucker's Mom, my dad did the "she says to me" thing too and we were nowhere near you in New Mexico. So it wasn't regional! Although.....his mom grew up in New Jersey. Hmmm.

My friend moved from New Mexico to Tennessee and he simply cannot figure out what people are saying sometimes. They definitely have regional idioms there, such as "you ins" and "fixin' to go." We have our own regional idioms, but for some reason, these expressions are giving him more gray hair. On the subject of three-room schoolhouses and grammar, my dear dad attended a small, rural, one-room school and he liked to tell the story of his brother's squabble with their teacher over the wording of one of their daily class singsongs.

The particular song that day was 'Darling, Clementine" and when they had finished singing, my uncle raised the question as to how, in the verse that begins with 'Drove she ducklings to the water', could anyone possibly know if they were 'she' ducklings. He said they could have very well been 'he' ducklings.

Apparently what started as his misunderstanding of the wording, soon grew into a full-blown screaming match between my uncle and teacher which ended in my uncle jumping out the window and leaving. He never returned to school.

LOL! For all intents and purposes, the one that gets me is "I could care less" when it should be "I couldn't care less."

Writing "noone"" as one word is another one, when it should be "no one."

I've seen Ms Perfect Grammar Kate do the "me and ____ are cooking dinner" thing. In fact, when she sent that DM to the young fellow about outing people, she wrote, "Me and Bullyville will provide the info," or something to that effect.

Of course, those misplaced modifiers can sometimes be quite amusing!

The grammar and spelling coming from the sheep is atrocious. It's not just the kids and young teens who butcher the English language, but I sometimes wonder how those in college ever got there when one considers that application letters need to be submitted. Adult fans, too, have absolutely no grasp of grammar/spelling rules, are terrible writers, and therefore believe that Kate is an amazing author because her blogs were so well written. Their bar is set so low and they just don't know any better.

I agree with Diana about tailoring engagement letters. Using a template is a good start but you will definitely need to make sure certain points are included. Diana's suggestions are very pertinent.

The AICPA has a great guide on creating engagement letters for specific services. Sample letters are included: https://www.cpai.com/pdfs/Supplement_to_Engagement_Letters_Guide_Final.pdf

Tucker's Mom --thanks for your suggestions and kind words. I hope you get to see this area! When you live in Seattle, you kind of forget it is here. It has its own weather system, so, we can't see it if it is cloudy over the city. Even on clear sunny days, we may not see it if it is cloudy at the mountain. Then, all of a sudden, in just the right circumstances, it appears. And, it is so huge, it makes the rest of the Cascades look like hills.

I agree with PJ aabout the traffic. It took me 55 minutes to get from Fremont to First Hill, which is usually a 15" drive. Fremont bridge went up, then it took 25" to get through the light at Westlake and Mercer. I think that we are blinded by the sunshine--we are like moles coming out of our tunnels after the typical overcast days. We are in full spring mode here--the magnolias are already opening. I think we have to be at least 2 or 3 weeks ahead of normal. There are things blooming at the same time that really aren't supposed to. Being from Chicago, I do miss the snow--but glad to have missed out on this winter!

When it snows here, everything shuts down because the hills are so hazardous, because there are is not enough snow removal trucks to service anything except for arterials and freeways. Schools shut down and the sleds/skis come out, so, unless you have to get somewhere, most of us enjoy it.

reader---Many of us, including me, have had to step away for the blog. Although, I originally came here out of concern for the kids around the time of the divorce, this blog has become much more. Whether it is serving any purpose in the bigger sense, in terms of changing the G8 situation, I disagree that there has been no effect.

I do believe that TFW lost many potential deals because she is just too controversial, and that did keep the kids out of the media for most of the last couple of years. Whether they are better off for it--we just can't know it. I think that, either way, their lives would be a living hell because they have the Evil Queen for a mother, and Peter Pan as a father. Neither of them are equipped to raise any children, let alone 8.

Tucker...I have that Shark rotator liftaway. Love it! The only thing I wish was different is that the hose for reaching isn't very long. It seems pretty short compared to what other vacuums have.
-----------------------
I have an old bissell plus convertible vacuum that had the same short-hose problem. I was bought an extension hose from the manufacturer that resolved the problem and has lasted for years. The hose on the vacuum was not only short, but very springy (as in never wanted to stay extended without major pulling.) The extension hose is more normal.

Tucker's, we have a Dyson. I'm not sure which model but it is one of the ball models (but not the pet model). Maybe they all are ball models now. You cannot believe what this thing picks up. I have a little terrier mix, about 12 pounds, and I have to empty the cup every couple of rooms because it fills up with so much hair and dust. The ball technology makes for a very easy experience. When I switch back to conventional vacuum (cleaning where I volunteer), I crash into stuff as I forget that it will not just turn on a dime. Another nice feature is that you never have to adjust for the pile. You can go from high pile to bare floor with no problem at all.

The only thing I don't like is that the cord is so short. And I know that IS standard for all Dyson models. You will be using all your outlets.

Binge watch suggestion. Old school.

The Rockford Files. I made it through season 3 about half way. My favorite episode of RF's is Sleight of Hand.

When RF filmed SOH, Jim and his father were at the beach house. Then just recently I saw an episode of The Waltons called The Seashore and the Walton family had decided to pack up and go to the Baldwin ladies beach house at Virginia beach for the weekend. They found a girl there who was British and was on the show 18 and her and Jason Walton had a summer romance. I thought she looked older than 18 and she was, she was 37 years old! Jon Walmsley was actually 21 years old!

The beach houses were the same! The railing on the deck and it looked like the same potted plants too! It is so fun to find things like this!

Oh, gosh, PJ's That's a great one! This brings back memories of my freshman year in college. No, I didn't get snipped! My roommate was very sheltered, naive, from a fundamental religious background. She didn't get out much. The rest of our group was worldly and knew everything, or so we thought. The school was located in an affluent area. When the local residents needed a sitter, they would call the school and a card would be tacked on the bulletin board. Those interested could grab the info and give the parents a call. When I think back about it now, it's scary because anyone could have picked up the students and done who knows what with them.

My friend was giddy with excitement because she scored her first babysitting job. She said that Mr. so-and-so would pick her up in a WoWo. We all looked at each other, thinking that this was a new and expensive foreign import. She then said that maybe that was incorrect and it was a Vulva. She was dead serious. One of us then realized it was a Volvo!

When I got my first car, a few years later, and had to give my new car info to the insurance company, I said it was a Vulva. I couldn't resist.

I often wonder what she's doing now, and if she ever got a Vulva.

I just watched Finding Vivian Maier and I LOVED it. Highly recommend it. I had no idea the guy who found her negatives was so young when he found them. Kate just wants to keep her tweeties hanging, making them think that there will be new shows, just like when she tweeted how she's going to miss tweeting on Tuesday nights, implying that the show was going to have more episodes, but she wouldn't be able to "live" tweet them.

One thing she's good at is "masterminding" and manipulating her tweeties feelings and implying something that it isn't true. Why they don't get that is beyond me.

I noticed that on Kate's timeline there is someone impersonating Jon. I don't have Twitter, but isn't it against Twitter's rules to do this? Do they get away with it because it's a "parody" account?
============

I think they DO get away with it, because twitter considers it a "parody" account, plus since Jon is not on twitter he has no means to report it.

It's followers are all sheeple, and I'm sure they think it's very funny. Yet if someone did the same to Kate, they'd be lining up to report it, call it a "bully" account, etc.

Just shows how hypocritical the sheeple are---insult they're queen and they're up in arms. Insult Jon or Robert and they think it's hilarious.

How is this ANY different than the behavior of the people here? Most here think it's hilarious to snark on Kate, make vile comments about her, etc. but go ballistic when anyone dares to so much as criticize Jon.

You are exactly the same and either unwilling or unable to recognize it due to ego or complete lack of self-awareness.

--------------------------------

The difference is that we are discussing Kate ON A BLOG that Kate is not a part of. We are not in direct contact with Kate-we are not discussing it on Kate's twitter timerline, whereas the sheeple on twitter are not only doing that, and so is the "parody" account by including Kate in their tweets. They call anyone who puts down Kate "bullies" yet they feel free to "bully" anyone else on twitter who doesn't agree with them. They use Kate's timeline as their forum, which is quite a bit different than discussing it ON A BLOG. And since Kate hasn't said anything, especially about the "parody" account, she must obviously approve.

"No self-awareness" is also what another blog says about posters on this blog. That blog just loves to bash Jon, Robert and this blog, yet they also criticize this blog for criticizing Kate.

Does that also mean that they have an "ego problem" and also suffer from "lack of self awareness", since they do the same thing that you accuse this blog of doing?

Works both ways, doesn't it?

Well, this person who asked if those are new episodes, lives in Canada. You guys in Canada, have they air the new 3rd season of K8? If they have then either Kate knows something, that is why she has become quiet, cause as of today the kids are on spring break, which means they maybe filming, that is why she gave that answer.

As for Kates snow blower, with the heated handles, they cost between $1100-$1500 is a Cub Snow blower top of the line. Yeah, she is patchin & piecing alright. Remember Kate said it herself, she only buys top of the line. Though she got a shitty deal with the kitchen appliances, TLC probably got a discount LOL! Dacor, has a lot of complaints.

I think they'll throw in a few more update specials, twins at 16, etc, but that will be about it. With a new sheriff in town at TLC and programming moving on without her, I just can't see them paying anything more than lip service to her.

If they were going to do a real season they would have done it. You don't limp in with 5 episodes then leave it hanging unless you're not really serious.

&&&&

I have to agree it's very different.

Take the Curt thing as an example. Given he is a public figure, I have a right to discuss him. Either on a blog or real life.

But, if I start personally tweeting him how furious I am at what he did, it becomes something completely different. Not that I don't have a RIGHT to tweet him directly, but it morphs into wrapping the celeb directly into it, harassing them, harassing others part of the saga, and so on and so forth. It also gives Kate or another celeb much less control when you tweet her directly. She will see it until she blocks you, and anyone else on her timeline will see it too even if she does block you. However if a celeb is being discussed on a separate blog the celeb has to actively go there to see it and so do their fans. It's completely voluntary.

That's one reason I keep saying, just get OFF twitter. Because there appears to be no good way to really keep out all the trolls on twitter. If you block one, another shows up in its place. That's simply not the case at a moderated blog.

I think that's part of the problem with twitter is people aren't fully grasping that is Kate on the other end of it. The real Kate. It's one thing to snark on her and her TV show with a group of friends. But to do it directly, it wouldn't be that much different than taking pot shots at her if you see her at the grocery store. But people don't see it that way, they don't see the very glaring distinction that you're playing telephone with THEE KATE on the other end instead of just me and the other people here.

Of course I suppose you could say if you have something mean to say you should say it to her face. But I don't see it that way. I see this is really more of Kate's choice whether she would like to hear things said to her face or not. What right do I have to throw it in her face if she would rather not hear it? Seems to me she is well aware people talk but she, most of the time, would just rather not pay attention. It would be different if she weren't a celeb and public figure.

Redbird said...

Well, they had Kate Gosselin's name on again on Celebrity Name Game. This time it was Craig Ferguson giving the clues and these contestants on both sides were horrible. The celebs with them were someone I don't know, I think a housewife and Mel B from the Spice Girls.

Craig said, this person is a reality show celebrity and has 8 kids. Crickets. She was married to Jon. Crickets. She was on the show, Jon and BLANK plus 8. Crickets. Then the girl hit the buzzer and just went uh uh trying to think of it and she couldn't so now the other team won the money. Craig was giggling through it.

Someone there must not like her there because no contestant can figure the clues out that it is her!

Apples and oranges, you're deliberately ignoring why some people feel Jon pot shots are unnecessary. And that is because he has stepped away from exploiting his children and has not done so for over five years. You can speculate all you want that he's in bed with Kate, but there hasn't been a shred of evidence to support that. Unless and until there is, the fact stands he doesn't exploit his kids.

It's not a case of it's okay to snark on Kate because we don't like her but not okay to snark on Jon because we like him. Many people who don't snark on Jon don't LIKE him either! It's because they are both operating from different playbooks where one deserves the scrutiny and the other, many feel, does not. There are very specific distinctions here.

And in any case, there are many people here who think it's just fine to snark on Jon and say so. Last time I looked I got the sense we were more of a 50/50 split on that.

I have said time and time again, over and over, if Kate were to finally realize her error and stop exploiting her kids, I'd stop snarking on her. I continue to hold that promise, for years now. And I said the same for Jon, and held to it.

That's like saying it's not okay to snark on Jodi or Beth but is okay to snark on Kate, what's the difference? The difference is Jodi and Beth stepped away from it years ago and what's more, spoke out against it. They don't deserve snark.

Redbird said...

I think a new way of getting TLC to film is do something radical:

FILM A LIVE SHOW! They can show her tweeting really live and talking to her tweeties on twitter. We can see if Colin really feeds the chickens, who really shovels the driveway, who really tears up the appliances, if Shoka really sleeps downstairs with the boys, who really cooks. The possibilities are endless!

Soul Man is doing another live show. The live show on Hot in Cleveland was hilarious! Also, this is the final season of Hot in Cleveland. Wish Seinfeld would of done a live show.

Hahahahahaha! That is hilarious! Thanks for the laugh!

I agree with everyone who thinks basic grammar is dying a quick and ugly death. The mistakes I see that really bother me are the ones that are not caused by haste in typing or speaking, but by an obvious lack of understanding or caring.

Misspellings and less-than-perfect grammar in blog comments and places like Twitter don't bother me nearly as much as when media personalities or outlets get it wrong consistently (and when someone like Kate brags about her perfect grammar and then slaughters it). The online TV Guide listings drive me crazy because they always write things like "A family are stranded" instead of "A family is stranded" in their summaries. These are not just typos.

Another one that drives me crazy is when people say "verse" instead of "versus" when talking about competitors or comparing things. This one seems to be gaining a lot of traction.

For me, it is unsettling to think about what the English language will look like in the future. It will be like the wild, wild west of words and sentences. I guess some people will argue that it is a natural evolution, and no one should be alarmed about it. I do not agree.

Because a comma was not inserted or a new paragraph wasn't started makes no difference.
I remember when a certain poster started to post here. So many jumped on her every post and with time they have seen past her mistakes and taken her in as one of the ladies on the veranda.
Guess you need to pick and choose you'r battles. If it makes you feel better to re-write some's post...so be it. But if you can decipher the crypt writing why point out the mistakes at all? Maybe you are the only one who cares about being spot on.

I think the issue is you don't really know whether someone is just being ignorant or if they have studied grammar diligently and find it difficult like I do math. I'd feel awful if someone were really hurt by grammar complaints if there were exigent circumstances.

Hey Starz, since you asked, you should say "I couldn't care less." Ha. Sorry! I just couldn't resist that!

On a serious note, I don't think I have ever seen anyone nitpicking anyone's grammar here to the extent you describe, unless the improper grammar is coming from someone who acts all high and mighty about being a perfect grammarian (ahem, Kate). I have also never seen anyone rewriting someone else's post. I know some people have at times asked others to explain what they meant in a post, but I have never seen anyone jump on another poster because they missed a comma or a period.

We all make spelling and grammar mistakes. This particular conversation is not about calling anyone out. It is just people voicing their thoughts on the subject.

That's like saying it's not okay to snark on Jodi or Beth but is okay to snark on Kate, what's the difference? The difference is Jodi and Beth stepped away from it years ago and what's more, spoke out against it. They don't deserve snark.
--
The only issue I have with Beth (other than her introducing Kate to spas saying 'time away will make you a better mommy') is that she and Kate holed away in a hotel room writing MB--surely Beth was given access to "Mommy's Journal'.

I take issue with that. IIRC, Beth spoke out a last yr about Kate attempting to cut her out of authorship and book proceeds.

It's been said before, but I think it's funny that at one point she proudly crowed Jon filled her car with gas because that's his job.
Didn't she think of what would happen if he died?
Now she's filling up 3 gas tanks all by herself, replacing window screens, putting oil in the car, fixing broken appliances, as well as outside running a snow blower (and ya know how she loves cold weather) LOL

she's so stupid. lol

I think Rachael Ray got "Sammy" in vogue. I watched her when she first came out when she was in the kitchen with the classic older stove. Loved that stove. But then, she just started driving me up a wall. Couldn't take it anymore. Oh, and the Sandwich King!

Sammy, Sammy, Sammy! UGH! But I really like The Kitchen.

Also on CHOPPED, the judges pearl clutch to near choking themselves when the cooks get bottles of liquor and guzzle it drinking from the bottle. UGH! They comment on it, especially GZ and Scott C.

Inappropriate. Unprofessional, they say. Then last night on Beat Bobby Flay, a guy contestant grabbed a brand new bottle of bourbon and started guzzling it and then BF grabbed a bottle of tequila and started guzzling it.

And the hosts, Alex G. and GZ? can't remember just laughed about it. I know it is more relaxed on that show, but I wouldn't want to eat food that was prepared with liquor when the chef had guzzled from the bottle.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were more K+8's, a couple or so. I don't know what theme they would be, since they recently did spring and summer/fall and crammed a lot into them. They should have done a Christmas special-not. I think TLC uses them for a filler or when Kate is 'in the news" such as via CA.If they wanted them back as a regular series, they would have spread out the yard sale/photo shoot/birthday to make more episodes. But not anytime soon.

As for grammar, I never point out any errors except to my kids. I would never want to embarrass anyone; as you said, Admin, there are many reasons for such errors. One is definitely that kids just aren't being taught grammar the way some of us were in the past. I think if parents speak correctly at home, that's the best way to teach good grammar- same with manners. And also, if you encourage reading good books, grammar just rubs off on you. Sad though, that many books are poorly edited.

TLC stinks said... 147
I predict Kate will not say a word and let the rumor take off. She wants the tabs to pick it up. It could backfire. She may force TLC to deny there are more shows or everyone will just ignore the rumor, LOL. She is very predictable with her manipulation. I hope TLC totally blows her off for at least a few years.

------------------------------------------------
It seems that with TLC staff changes, they are bundling 5 episodes as a Season. I guess they can bundle it anyway they want. Especially with the introduction of so many new shows added to their roster. And in order to see what the stats are on all shows, both old and new.

Pure speculation, but I am guessing we will see TFW with her accessories once or twice a year with new episodes, at least for the next year, and she may be bumped by a more popular/better ratings shows. Her show is old and the episodes were not interesting at all. Most people would be embarrassed by the display of her most recent episodes, with all of the dysfunction going on. This would be a good place to end filming, but we all know TFW will film until the end of time, as long as she is making money. She has had plenty of time to find another job that will not involve the kids, but unless there is some miracle, the show must go on.

The sad part is I don't think she cares how dysfunctional she or the kids look, as long as she gets paid, with tons of perks. Several years from now, once kids are adults, there will be at least one book written, but knowing TFW, she probably had the kids sign Confidentiality Agreements, as she is that ruthless.

Formerly Duped said...

It was also odd when Kate said on one special that the kids just loved traveling, but didn't care what the destination was or even want to know where they were going! That seems strange to me.Is an airplane ride to nowhere in particular exciting to the kids? As Admin once said, surely encouraging research on where they are off to, and finding places of interest not dictated by TLC, are what most families do.They don't appreciate their travels in the normal sense, although there is nothing normal about being bundled off to parts unknown and being filmed! Fine line between being spoiled and being exploited, but exploitation overrules the material prizes.

Tucker...I have that Shark rotator liftaway. Love it! The only thing I wish was different is that the hose for reaching isn't very long. It seems pretty short compared to what other vacuums have.

That, and it's top heavy when using the hose, and not putting it on the wheeled base. It falls over all the time. That part makes me crazy!! But I'm too lazy to switch it over all the time. I like to vacuum the carpets, then do the reaching stuff, without having to change to the wheeled base. So I just let it fall over and roll around while I do the reaching stuff.

Something interesting...with the latest health issues I can do no reaching with my arms. Hard to vacuum. Physical therapy says to hold the vacuum still and move it by stepping forward and back. Takes forever to vacuum that way!
*******
Thanks for the hints about the Shark!
The amount of dirt and fur that it's picking up is astounding. My house has NOT been as clean as I thought ;-(

Sorry to hear about your health issue- are you restricted with any arm elevation, or just above a certain level?
I'd suggest a Roomba, but those things seem pretty worthless for the money.

"Crick" for"creek" sets my teeth on edge.

&&&&

See, that's an accent thing though, not a grammar thing.

Where I'm from people say "crick" for creek, and "rough" for "roof." I've also heard things like "tweny" for twenty. Gosh, what else? There are so many other examples of little twists we put on words but I can't think of them right now. It's not a matter of not understanding how something is spelled or being ignorant. It's a matter of a regional accent. That's different than FUSS-trating, which is because someone doesn't realize there's another R in there.

On a somewhat related note, I am reading Foxcatcher and quite surprised a book about wrestling could be so interesting since I care nothing for the sport. It really flies by, I read about 1/4 of it last night. Anyway Mark Schultz was talking about a match in 1980 in which the fans were so vulgar and shouting the most horrific curse words at everybody he couldn't believe it. He was shocked. I believe this occurred in Iowa, which you would think is down home American values right?

In any case it made me think that maybe young people are not any more crass today than their parents were. People always think things are so much worse off, kids are the pits and speak so disrespectfully, and forget about their behavior when they were 18 at a wrestling match in 1980.

No, she doesn't care.

I think even despite the okay ratings it doesn't guarantee her anything. Networks dump shows with okay ratings all the time because they're seeking to create a certain lineup and couldn't fit that show in.

What very well might happen is there just isn't a place for this family on the new TLC, good ratings or not. Maybe there will be and maybe there won't be, but I don't think she knows. She's in limbo. She must be really shitting bricks right now wondering what her future holds.

I always notice spelling and grammar mistakes. They just call out to me. I can't help it. It's how my brain works. But I don't criticize people for them unless they have told me that English is their best subject. And they obviously have no clue what they're talking about as they rudely correct others.

When one says that English was their best subject the rest of us are assuming an A, or at a minimum a B. Maybe they got D's and F's in their other subjects, and a C- in English, thus making it their best subject.

We all know how she plays with implications. She has an uncanny ability to use people's normal, reasonable assumptions to her advantage.

I could not have been happier.
I kept it around because I paid so much for it, but cursed every time I lugged it out and used it.
Good riddance!

Also, I got a Samsung tablet. Yep, finally pulled the trigger on a tablet, because Apple pissed me off soooooooo badly.
If I had a Twitter account, I'd shame them @Apple, #yousuck!
My MacBook needs a new battery and touch pad. When you need service, you need to either go directly to the damn store to make an appt., or call their call center in India (I'm assuming).
I made an appt. over the phone, and never got a confirmation (betting that the person on the phone understood very little of what I said) email.
I needed to change that appt., but gave up after 45 minutes of trying.
Then, DH went to the store during his lunch break this week, and made an appt. for Friday. Well, with the snow, he couldn't make that appt., and once again, could not cancel online, as there was no record of the appt. he made IN PERSON, and we couldn't call the store directly, because for some stupid reason, you just can't talk to a human being in the store.
So, long winded here, but my allegiance to Apple is pretty much over.
I'm android, all the way (well, until at some point my Mac dies).

I do believe generational "language" enters in to the equation with teens/local language coming into play. Depends what you were exposed to. However, my least favorites are "you know" and "just saying."

I have worked with younger adults trying to find jobs, and I practice with them in eliminating these "expressions" so they can convey their thoughts without all the "interuptive" expressions. Takes a while to get them to eliminate their "expressions" and they even laugh, as it becomes a challenge to avoid these expressions, but they do laugh, as they realize how "difficult" it is to disengage in their current level of communication. Takes a lot of practice in trying to make changes.

******
I noticed those things too!
I was watching Mad Men and and episode set in California featured this amazing house that looked so familiar.
It was also featured in Californication!

It kind of took me out of the moment, because I was thinking about how they staged the house for the 1960's, and circa 2010 differently to fit the decorating senses of the time.

Again, I can't blame the sheeple. It's completely confusing to call five episodes a "season" if you're only paying attention with half an ear like they usually are.

It's just downright cruel to mislead people, knowing their hopes will be dashed.
What would be smart is if Kate would have kept a standing live-tweeting date with her fans- every Tues. from 9-10.
She could, perhaps, get some sort of ground swell and even a petition going.
Nah...that would take good will and effort without the certainty of reward.

When they film, they are on a tight schedule. Everything is planned. They have to go-g--go and hit their marks.

Remember when Polly reported what she witness when they filmed at the corn maze?
They went. They filmed. They left.

There have been a couple first-hand reports from other people who were at parks with their kids while J+K+8 was filming, and they told stories about the film crew rushing them around to get what they needed.
