I'm reposting this from the bottom of the last post because I wanted to take the inspiration from people like Dallas Lady and pay it forward. Hope you all will too!

Dear Coupon Cabin,
We decided to take our time and coupons and saving a load of money so that we could donate as much as possible to the needy. We used money off coupons and combined them with steep early bird discounts this (first) Super Saturday (Macy's and JC Penny) to buy 2 heavy winter boys jackets, 2 girls hats (so cute) and 2 warm sweaters for women. For this we paid $59, a savings of $279, or 82%.
I'm wondering if Kate can beat that?
Looking forward to hearing from you, but won't hold my breath.
Sincerely,
Tucker's Mom
*snark over* Seriously, we're off to our local Catholic Charities food kitchen and donation center to donate food we cleared from our pantry and a bunch of food from Costco, as well as these warm clothes that I hope will bring people happiness and peace.
I'll be checkin in later when doing my Holiday baking.
BTW, Pants and everyone whose family needs prayers, they've been in my thoughts.

Dallas Lady said...

Tucker's Mom,

THAT IS SO COOL! Just like what we did at work! It's got to feel good to get so many nice items at a discount and then to give them to those in need.

My husband and I are about to deliver our donations to Toys for Tots. We do it every year along with the Angel Tree, but this is the first year we've been able to really go all out. The bed of his truck is filled. We're pretty excited, our daughter most of all. She organized the whole thing, picked out most of the toys, etc. I used coupons for Toys R Us and some manufacturers coupons I found.

Kate says she bought so many presents for her kids, she's going to be wrapping for a WEEK. Now she might be exaggerating a bit, but even if that's HALF true, that is absolutely ridiculous. Kids love toys, sure, but they want and need time with their parents and a warm, loving household more. She sucks as a mom. Heck, as a human being.Why doesn't she give each kid a few gifts and spend the rest of that money on gifts for Toys for Tots and have the kids accompany her to drop them off? What a great tradition THAT would be.

Even Joan Crawford did charity work with her kids and insisted on it.

Westcoaster said...

There is certainly a considerate lack of moral judgment from No Boundaries Kate in both accepting and encouraging the grifting of gifts from strangers. And I really hope she and her sheeple are reading here today, in a break from the nonsensical tweeting to each other that is their usual habit. Time to let the elephant out.

It is horribly wrong to seek and accept these gifts. If her moral compass was on, she would encourage these people to give to the less needy and would do so herself - now that would make a nice CC blog post. Instead she is, in a year marked by the loss of her real job on reality tv, she is maniacally shopping and wrapping presents for her very unneedy children, traveling incessantly, and oh, buying 3 new cars. And her children are in a bubble, when they are also at an age to help participate in the the true meaning of Christmas. For someone who started down the filming path professing to be a faith filled Christian, her behavior today is even more disappointing.

Ethics or morals? K8 is sadly wihout any this holiday season. It is very sad.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Dallas Lady couldn't agree more. There is also a real danger in giving these kids such an extravagant and over the top Christmas that nothing else could possibly ever live up to it ever again. The poor little rich kid syndrome. When you've already been given EVERYTHING, you have no motivation to work for things and nothing to look forward to. She is robbing them of that with this lifestyle.

Give them a lovely Christmas, they deserve it. But if you're wrapping every day all day for the next week, you're probably doing too much.

Like too much of a banana split sundae, eventually your stomach is going to hurt.

Mel said...

...it's the way the kids requested....

Uh huh. Sure thing, Kate.

We get it. Yours is the real one. Jon's is the stupid cheap leftover crap one. No way the kids are going to like THAT one....you'll see to that. Gag.

Pinocchio. Hahahaha. Good one.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Does anyone ever remember what they got for Christmas as a child? I mean a few thing stick out, but most of it is a blur.

What I DO remember distinctly though is playing with the toys with siblings, parents, friends, cousins--the family together and the laughing and cooking the food together and going sledding after and building a snowmen.

It's cliche, but it's just not ABOUT the sort of things Kate is so insistent it is about. The things that will stick in the children's memories are going to have very little to do with the gifts themselves.

Oh and of course she mentioned AGAIN how much the kids thank her. Vomit.

Marie said...

In the past she has excepted gifts from viewers. Watch the old Christmas episodes. Clothing and toys that were provided for the children and Kate said, "It's a blessing to be able to stretch and provide for 8 kids." THAT is her mantra, yes. Provide, provide, provide. But does she even know what "Provide" really means? It's about the needs we have in common not the excess of material.

Some kids are happy on Christmas when all they get is an orange and a new pair of mittens. Kate and her kids will never be happy or satisfied with just that because it's called greed.

Please, please tell me she is not seriously encouraging her fans to get on planes and come out to see her!! That is just so off the wall wrong. And she wonders why she needs a bodyguard?!! HELLLOOO???? It isn't rocket science! You put yourself out there for everyone you open yourself up for the weirdos. Didn't her mother ever tell her don't talk to strangers? And here she is talking away to whomever suits her fancy. Geez I hope someone teaches her kids that not everyone is good just because they are on TV and famous.

Poor pitiful popular Kate. She's rich enough to buy car after car but isn't rich enough to afford 8 kids Christmas gifts on their own.

Last I checked, Jon will surely buy then gifts, Jon's extended family since they may be in the picture might buy them something maybe even her own extended family will who knows. Point is Christmas does not solely fall on her to give the kids things. Kids might not get everything they want but that isn't the point.

Sorry, I'm a little ticked off this morning because twice a month (all year long) I volunteer at a shelter for women and children and I guess it gets to once in a while...

She absolutely is, and what is she going to do if they do? You can get a pretty decent flight price from Ireland to the states if you shop around, what if someone takes her up on it? What is wrong with her to even be joking, how does she know they won't take it seriously?

Hoosier Girl said...

Does Kate have any representation other than Steve? Like a manager or publicist?

Kate is going to have to reinvent herself in order to draw in new fans if she wants to continue her 15 minutes. Reinventing herself shouldn't include more grifting. If she were to ask all her fans to donate to Toys for Tots or some other charity, she would be far better off .. and maybe even get some positive press.

I know I say this all the time ~ but she's not a very smart woman. She seems completely unable to see anything but the immediate gain.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Mel, I'm sure these kids know if they don't incessantly fawn all over Kate and thank her and tell her she's the greatest, there will the wrath of a narcissist to endure.

Given these kids are doing things that just don't come naturally to kids (for instance, most kids so young don't necessarily make the connection regarding all the hard work mom and dad did for Christmas, especially when they are told Santa brought everything), it has become blatantly obvious that these kids are engaging in a constant appeasement of Kate. Constant. Kate thinks she is exhausted, try being one of her kids.

Speaking as a Red Cross volunteer, I can't get over the hypocrisy of Kate... On her blog, she keeps the Red Cross Blanket photo front and center - and then turns around and accepts all these gifts from the sheeple.

Why isn't she encouraging them to make a donation to the Red Cross - even if it's in her behalf???

Argh. Drives me NUTS.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Know Quality good idea, donate to the Red Cross! Heck she could even turn it into a game, for every 10 blankets I get fans to donate I'll donate an extra one. It might even get her an article or two of good press.

Has she even MENTIONED the Red Cross since her naked photo?

And you know what, I am betting that if she actually pulled something like this off and the fans donated 300-400 blankets and then maybe the kids got to hand deliver them? The kids would remember and appreciate that FAR MORE than some crappy Toys R Us gift that needs batteries replaced every two days.

I think Kate's whole point (in pretty much everything to do with the kids and life in general) is to outdo Jon. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't understand that she can't 'outdo' his love for his kids.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

This is absolutely unethical, though it's your right to think it's not. It's unethical to accept gifts from strangers less off than you when you are very well off, it is unethical to misrepresent your financial situation as very dire to those strangers, it is unethical to encourage children and teens who are strangers to spend their allowance money on you when you are doing just fine and a charity could benefit more or heck even encourage the kids to save their money for college.

If someone very well off set up a charity just for THEMSELVES, lied about their financial situation, and took "donations" that are not even tax deductible, there would be outrage. There might even be criminal consequences. Several people have been charged with FRAUD for misrepresenting themselves and accepting donations. This may enlighten you: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MindMoodNews/ashley-kirilow-cancer-charity-fraudsters/story?id=11369697#.TuzRaWCSKAI And should perhaps be something Kate should be concerned about.

Think Kate isn't well off? How does she afford that house and the cars and the trips then? Are you aware of what the public DWTS salary is? The woman has money.

Admin, good point. I remember a few gifts from Christmas as a child: Barbies, roller skates, a toy piano I adored.

But we really loved our stockings! Oranges, nuts, a few chocolates, and a little toy. I loved getting Bonne Bell Lip Smackers lip gloss. My brother would get a small nerf ball.

My parents had plenty of money, but we were NEVER spoiled materially. Ever. They made a lot of mistakes as parents, but that wasn't one of them. I appreciated what I got because I wasn't inundated with things.

My brother and I loved the special Christmas breakfast, playing with our toys, cracking open the nuts (kids like weird things, LOL) and then going to my grandparents later to play with our cousins.

I couldn't imagine opening a mountain of gifts. How crazy. Even now, we *could* afford to do that, but years ago we decided as a family to put more into charity and DOING one special thing together (like going to see The Nutcracker). We don't regret it.

Pity Party said...

My fondest Christmas present ever was one which was very unexpected and not even a toy. It was beautiful blue bedspread with a huge matching dog to place in the center when made up and to snuggle with when asleep. I would comb its hair when I made the bed and it was so pretty. That would have been an extravagant purchase for my mother and I know that it was something she loved as well.

I remember many of my Christmas presents because we didn't get a lot (7 kids), but what we did get was very special, with a lot of thought put into it. We each got 1 big present and then we got a huge stocking filled with fruit, nuts, candy, jacks, crayons, coloring books, pickup sticks, hair bows, pretty socks and tights. We would spend the day cracking nuts, peeling oranges, eating candy, and playing with our toys.

Santa brought our toys and they were not wrapped but displayed beautifully under the tree with our name on it We did not have to sit in a designated spot and have our gifts handed to us and we did not have reams and reams of paper to unload.

Looking back, I now know what a sacrifice that was for my parents because we did not have a lot of money and there was 7 of us kids.

Dallas Lady ahhh Christmas breakfast. We do this baked egg dish thing with herbs and cinnamon buns, yummy!

It's always been a Christmas tradition to go see an afternoon movie the day after Christmas and let the pigging out from the day before digest. It wasn't that expensive at the time especially if you go during the day.

Yes :) Oranges in our stockings THE BEST! The high school bands around here sell Florida oranges and grapefruit this time of year and when I open that box every year, it brings back the smell and memories of Christmas.

My most meaningful present was an inexpensive violin from my brother. I went to church that night feeling like God's golden light was shining down upon me. I've never felt so blessed in my life.

I learned to play well enough that I played it for his young wife's funeral the next year. Only he & I knew that I was returning the blessing he had given me.

So, now she is doing yoga too? LOL. I just find it so hilarious that she has to put her every move out there on twitter. She has to constantly try and impress everyone how accomplished and perfect she is---marathon runner, yoga expert (no doubt), baker, wrapper, etc. She is looking for so much admiration. Pretty pathetic.

Maybe Kate is inviting her fans to visit so she can charge them rent to stay in the barn. She has 8, count em, 8 children to raise and Lord knows after buying truckloads of gifts, gatorade and goldfish, she needs some financial aid.

Moose Mania said...

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

That's what she tweeted! She is going to do this to the wrong person and there is going to be hell to pay. There are so many crazies out there who will take her up on it. Remember when BigFan was begging her to meet for lunch, wanted to go to Kate's house to help her organize, invited her on a cruise, and wanted to meet up for shopping in Hershey? She even took a drive to Kate's neighborhood to see where she did her grocery shopping. Then there was Brownie, who was an off-the-wall stalker.

All any of these insane fans need is a personal invitation and some fool might take her up on it.

Someone on the other thread wrote an excellent post on how nobody really knows these people, Milo in particular. Kate should be very afraid of encouraging anyone, but apparently she doesn't have the smarts to see this, and her crack security team isn't doing anything to warn her about the dangers of engaging strangers. They all are nuts and deserve each other - Kate, security, and the fans.

Annie2 said...

I cant donate much this year but I do donate what I can. I am so fortunate to have a roof over my head and a parent who loves and supports me. Many people dont have either of those things.

I wish Kate would see past her own nose and see how fortunate she is. She can afford food, clothing and shelter for all of her children. I work with adults (at the homeless shelter) who cant proved shelter for their children. Their parents work full time and then some but they lost their home due to an event that their parents cant control (sickness, job loss, exc).

tate said...

And then someone else is tweeting about having her come to DC for a half marathon. She says it sounds good and to keep reminding her. You know the ONLY way she will ever do that is if she can get a free deal to go there and be "the star" of the event. She will never go and run it just as a normal person like everyone else.

Marie said...

Whole things absolutely ridiculous and stupid if you ask me. She's the adult isn't she supposed to be you know...advocating safety to her kids?

I don't care if to her it is a joke it is still dangerous. I'd say be careful but that is like talking to a brick wall I suspect.

What's she going to do when her security team leaves? At some point they will, like they'll hang around forever! Even if they are good friends the second she can't pay them I bet they will find someone who will.

I get the feeling that Kate thinks her world of, *snapping fingers* whenever she wants something or wants something done will always be given to her never to know that that rug might very well one day be pulled our from underneath her feet. Then what? I think she'll panic. She hasn't a clue how to take care of herself let alone her kids. That's why she got married as soon as possible--have someone take care of her to make life easier.

Westcoaster said...

She really does have some kind of manic disorder - wrapping! Yoga! Treadmill! Repeat!, so clearly she is home alone. It's obvious that twitter takes the place of real friends, the kind you talk to on the phone, have coffee with or take in a movie, etc. Too much inane sharing, and yes, what happens when the Irish girl shows up at the gate - there are many winter seat sales going in right now.

What we know here, and what crazy K8 does not, is that there is a line between a lovely Christmas and an obsessively over the top nonsensical Christmas. Her children should absolutely have a wonderful holiday, but their mother is consumer crazy and locked in her own game to outdo their father. I have no number for how many presents a kid should get, that is a private family decision, but it is quite clear that Conspicuous Consumer K8 is doing this all wrong.

We raised 3 children, there are 8 nights of Hanukkah, and when they were young, they did open something every night. But as they woud tell you every night was not a large or extravagant present, that would have been just wrong. We stiill laugh about "game night", "slipper night", etc.

Again the opportunity to teach chidren about giving, perhaps shopping for and delivering gifts to others, without TLC cameras, none of this is in her world view. Manic K8 has a locked Christma closet, and a complaint about everything she does. She is such a shallow, greedy woman.

Pam said...

The whole thing is just pathetic.

On one hand, you have folks who struggle and hope to get their kids at least one thing for Christmas, and a good samaritan who paid off peoples' layaway tabs at Kmart to help families out....

and on the other hand you have the world's most obnoxious grifter who is wealthy and already lavishing her kids with numerous gifts...and bozos are SENDING HER MORE just so they can get a possible tweet from her.

There are some really twisted people in this world. Those people have soooo much to learn about life. It's really sad.

Kate should be so ASHAMED of herself for encouraging this. She's such a greedy selfish bitch.

Kate's tweet:
"Ok so I wrapped, did yoga, ran for 40 min on treadmill and now I'm back to Christmas stuff... Oh my... Racing the clock!"
-------
What a slacker. It's only 12:30 CST, and I've:
1. Cleaned the house
2. Done 6 loads of laundry
3. Ran a 10K on the treadmill
4. Wrapped 63 gifts - with bows & ribbons
5. Baked 132 loaves of banana bread (after picking my own bananas in my back yard)
6. Gave the dog a bath
7. Decorated the house for a party we're having tonight
8. Wrote 5 blog entries
9. Organized my closets
10. Wrote this with much, much sarcasm

And oh yeah - donated to charity. (Actually, this last part IS true...made an online donation to both Salvation Army and Red Cross this morning, and left out donations for Big Brothers to come by and pick up).

Seriously...this woman is mentally ill and needs some serious help.

She does not seem to understand that when she "reports" her activities she is quite possibly upsetting the people who care about her. The excessive wrapping reminds less fortunate families that their children won't be creating a mountain of debris because they will only be opening one or two gifts.

Her agenda for a day without enough hours includes yoga and treadmill. I don't know any young mother with that much time to devote to themselves. That is not a frantic schedule, it is a sweetly indulgent one.

She creates this manic overload and then struggles her can-do way through. I don't know what it will take for her to get perspective...to understand what life is REALLY like for most families.

As for all the wonderful stories giving -- I do not think that Kate has charity in her heart. She lacks the quality that allows her to think of others. She seems to be completely insensitive to her tweeters, her children, her X, other drivers on the road, her family, her helpers, cancer patients at St Jude's....the list just goes on. She is the totality of her world and THE world.

There is only one good thing I can say about Kate's tweets about her "gift" of the BBB to Jon. She is confirming she has loads of cash and that she knows Jon does not have enough to "bene"fit his kids with decent transportation.

She's confirming she has lots and lots of cash to buy so many presents for the kids that it takes her several days of psychowrapping to get them all tree-worthy.

I hope Jon's attorney takes note when it comes time for support modifications.

Yes, Kate is really pathetic, talking only to Twitter about her wonderful life and Christmas preparations. It is always about her with the kids as an add-on. Maybe they won't really have a million gifts to open ( unless there are a million sheeple) In the show, the stocking gifts were NOT wrapped( underwear, sunglasses etc) I think her life is not what she portrays and one day soon her kids will call her on it....I wish we knew what actually goes on inside the mansion....for the kids' sake. They never really look happy. Nor are they the perfect kids Kate portrays- although all children are wonderful. I think any imperfection ( such as Collin's droopy eye) will send that child to the bottom of the heap. I always though Joel was there because he was not quite as cute as the others although he's a sweet boy( who loves his Daddy so much) I feel sorry for the kids and a cold un-Christian or cheery sweet-filled day. Will little loaves of bread be their dinner? Let's hope they enjoy the time with Jon.

I don't remember many specific Christmas gifts -- a favorite book, a huge stuffed dog when I was 4 that went off to college with me and lived on my bed in my first apartment, my first roller skates. I mostly remember times. Making Christmas cookies and fudge and packing a big box to send to my Uncle, who was career Navy and stationed in Japan when I was little. Taking a box of food and clothing to the local Mission every year. Decorating the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Bundling up and going to Christmas Eve services, then returning home to read the Christmas Story from Luke and "The Night Before Christmas" -- my dad and me taking turns and Mom making hot buttered toast and cocoa. Getting up in the morning and discovering that Santa had been there overnight. Passing out presents to Mom and Dad. Delivering little gifts to the neighbors.My grandparents coming for Christmas dinner. Dad playing Christmas carols on the piano while Mom and I harmonized. The day after, visiting my cousins and seeing what Santa brought them. Kate, Christmas isn't about over the top numbers of gifts, and tons of wrappings. It's about FRIENDS and FAMILY. Until you learn that, your kids will never have a really good Christmas.

Thanks. Happy holidays to all of you.

Tomorrow is my side of the family celebration. We will drive 100 miles to join my 6 siblings and all their children. Nieces and nephews are now married with chicks of their own. We are a rowdy bunch! It will be our first Christmas without my mom (who passed away in September) We draw names for gifts -- the sole purpose being to reduce consumption and over-indulgence.

Our group is larger than Kate's. I think the warmth will be greater and the waste will be less.

You would think there would be a Christmas special- I do believe it would bring in good ratings-but maybe the kids rebelled or TLC is just as sick of Kate as we are...I wonder if Kate will publish a book about her Xmas preparations as a how-to read...hmmm. No one celebrates it as perfectly as she does...does she use the wrapping station the organizers set up for her? I doubt it- maybe she let the twits know not to send a gift unless it is gift-wrapped...

Well, I guess this is what you get in my house…. Where everyone is a multiple!
I found this the other morning when I returned from the bus stop! I was flying through the house organizing and straightening when this caught my eye!

There are moments when I have to stop and smile at what my kids leave behind. I have no idea who did this, but it is ridiculously adorable! The honesty and innocence of kids (especially mine!) amaze me. And, if you’re wondering why there are multiple baby Jesuses in the first place, it’s because the kids have always fought over one, so he too had to become a multiple in our house!

May you receive multiple blessings today! Hope this made you smile the way it did for me!

Another blog post from Kate:

Words from Fans
DECEMBER 17, 2011
Hi Kate,

My good friend just had a tummy tuck and is experiencing a lot of different pain, drainage, emotions, etc. Was just wondering if you have any advice for her in her healing process.

Thanks
Amy

Dear Amy -

First of all, you are an amazing friend for reaching out, asking questions and sympathizing with your friend who is struggling! ;) Second, I’ll tell you a bit about my experience so you can share it with your friend.
I remember waking up from surgery in A LOT of pain. I knew to expect this but thought to myself ”I went into this healthy and woke up feeling like an old lady… What have I done?”

Over the next week, I rested, away from my 8 kids, as instructed by (amazingly awesome) Dr. Glassman so they didn’t “injure me” lol! After the first week, which was really rough, I started to feel better. At two weeks, I could get up, prepare meals, and lay back down. I exhausted easily. I could also switch over laundry carefully and gently lift my kids – one at a time – if I needed to.

I also had “drainage” and actually had other issues as well such as muscle spasms and urinary retention problems in the first days that settled after the first week post op.

The important thing I remember was being still so that the healing process was not interrupted or damaged! Tell her to be still until she’s allowed to go back to normal activity!

Now, and as soon as I forgot the details of the surgery and recovery, I always tell moms, or women in general, who have the need and opportunity to have a tummy tuck, that it was one of the BEST things I have ever done! Many things in life are difficult but super worthwhile if you can get through it… And this was definitely one of them! I feel that my tummy tuck was a turning point for me in that I was able to see myself ”pre baby” and start working out to shed those extra pounds beyond the skin that the tummy tuck took off! Dr Glassman has told me many times that women come into his office to discuss a tummy tuck and say “I want to look like Kate Gosselin.” His response: “I can only do the tummy tuck. She worked hard to get her body back and if you want to look like her, you will need to work hard too!”
I love him for this answer because many people think that a tummy tuck solved all of my post baby issues…. And they are wrong!

Finally, if your friend is having “drainage issues” please have her contact her surgeon to make sure everything is “okay.” I can’t offer advice on what is normal and not normal :). Tell her to hang in there! The results will start showing up soon and she will be really happy she did it!

RE: what do you remember about Christmas?

Family. Now that my family is all gone I celebrate Christmas, but not with gifts or trees or lights. All that reminds me of is how much I miss the family who used to enjoy that with me, decorating the house, laughing around the dinner table, joyfully opening gifts (silly and serious gifts.) That's all gone for me.

CHRISTmas is still with me, however.

Christmas Eve is big. Christmas Day is a Sunday this year. They will both be celebrated as I look at the flickering candles in the stained glass windows, hear the organ swell with joyous music, sing with my heart and voice, see the faces of my beloved friends, light the Christ Candle in the Advent Wreath, place the Baby Jesus in his bed, and share the God bless you's of the season.

My family isn't here in my house, but they are in my heart, and in the heart of all who celebrate this time in honor of the Baby of Bethlehem.

With that said, I wish a very blessed and meaningful Hanukkah to those who will be remembering the miracle of the oil. What a wonderful time of year it is when you gather to retell that remarkable story of heroes, celebrations and God's works.

Joy and peace to all!

From Kate's blog (with photo of nativity set with three baby Jesus):

Baby Jesus is a Triplet?

DECEMBER 16, 2011

Why are those kids always fighting? Time and again we've seen them not only bickering but actually getting physical with each other. I've raised three kids and fighting like that was not allowed. Yes, at times they bickered with each other but I'd stop that if it irritated me. As far as I know they never got physical with each other. Kate seems to actually enjoy them fighting and that's always baffled me. Those kids need to learn to settle disputes without "fighting", she should be teaching that on a daily basis. Sorry for the long ramble but she just gets on my last nerve with her lazy parenting.

Exactly. She seems to think it's cute and funny. It's not. And in life, there are few situations where you're going to be able to just triple whateve they are fighting over and problem is solved. How will she handle it if the girls fight over a boy someday, or fight over the last sweater on the rack, or fight over Mommy's time with them. She's not doing a thing to prepare them to deal with all of what is unfair in life.

The best present this year is my husband arranged to watch the two granddaughters & told me to take our daughter (who's husband was laid off last summer) to the thanksgiving sales and get what she needed for the girls. And then go to the grocery to buy a bunch of groceries. What a lovely present to give me!

The SIL was pretty choked up when he saw what I'd done, so I guess it was a present for him too.
I think they thought I was going to buy a bag or two, but this is one frugal grandma. Between sales and coupons I got an overflowing carload of groceries!

Now if I could just wave my magic wand and get him a job!!!!

I wonder what Kourtney (?) Kardashian or Kendra would say if some obsessed fan wanted their address to send presents to their kids or Tori and Dean. Just wonder how other celebrities handle that situation or if even comes up, which I doubt. KT's tweeties have tremendous insight into what it takes to get into the inner circle. I doubt many of them actually buy the rosy picture that she paints even though they go along with it.

That is such crap. Why would any parent allow their young children to play with the nativity scene in the first place that would cause them to fight over a piece? She bought three baby Jesuses( and set them out as triplets ) because SHE thought it would be cute to tweet. I'm guessing the store didn't have 6 or she would've displayed 6.

The kids did it my arse. This woman is just an incredible liar.

Katie Cry-duh said...

Kate has crafted her kids into shrieking, competitive, violent people by pitching them against each other. At times she appears to favor the twins, then the littles (ugh), then the girls, and apparently never the boys. All moms think their kids are the best but must of us don't state it. Saying that her kids are so innocent, ummm, no. They are jaded and neglected. Getting tons of thoughtless presents is not what Christmas is about. I remember the faux Xmas morning they filmed for their show. It was so joyless, with a literal vertical tack of identical presents to hand out in the order Kate deemed fit, instead of letting anything happen organically. Kids sitting back to back, kids getting gifts their parents grifted, all in October or whenever it was. The fact that there are no more specials in the foreseeable future tells me TLC is done with her foolishness and abuse.

Katie Cry-duh said...

We've discussed whether Kate is broke or not. Well, clearly she isn't, yet. However, I think her big panic is that now she is actually paying to support her kids, with "her" money, something new to her. She was counting on someone else paying their way forever shine she had so many. Welcome to reality Kate. The realest reality.

I love reading your stories here.I remember wanting a Tiny Tears doll for 2 years,I asked every birthday and Christmas.I drooled and wore out the Wish book from Eatons and Sears, and carefully cut out the exact doll's picture, as I had been asking forever, I thought.

I wrote a letter to Santa and asked him to bring my brothers nice presents and all the poor kids food.I pasted the picture in it and begged for this doll.Funny, I can still smell that baby powder/plastic scent even now!I had gotten a baby doll the year before, but couldn't describe why 'this' doll was so special to me.

I remember some special Christmases as a child,this year I got 4 presents, a book from an uncle, pj's, slippers and candycane from Mom and Dad and there was a huge box from Santa, just for me.

Inside was a beautiful wooden box and inside it, homemade doll clothes.My Grandma had made a whole layette,dresses,jeans,a pink winter coat with fur on the hood,pajamas, housecoat, slippers and the most beautifully sewn Christening dress with seed pearls and buttons and a veil.I was so upset because these clothes were so nice and would fit my doll, and I started bawling- no doll again.

Grandpa jumped up and ran over to me and said' there's another gift in that box.'I looked in and saw a plain, cardboard box tied with string, with my name printed on it.I opened it slowly,I didn't want to hurt Grandpa's feelings and found Tiny Tears!I hugged his legs and knew without a doubt that my Grandpa was Santa.

I remember feeling so happy that I thought my heart was going to burst.All of us hugged and laughed and my Dad had tears in his eyes. I asked him why and he said they were happy tears.(I was a daddy's girl.)

I still have the doll and clothes and my three girls and my g'daughter love hearing the story -funny, but the doll still smells the same as she did new.I think kids now don't appreciate what they get, like we did.

They ask for and usually get the gift they want, but never have the anticipation of wanting and wondering about it.To me, that was the best part about opening gifts, but the wonder of Christmas is lost.

Kate thinks she can make her kids love her by giving them extravagant gifts and trips, parties,etc. She somehow missed out on the happiness comes from within and you love your mother because she's your mom gene.

I bet her kids would ask that their parents be back together,rather than any toys offered,if Santa would ask them and they even believed. That was the cruellest thing to tell them there was no Santa.

I also remember our stockings- we would get up really early and sneak downstairs and eat all the nuts, candy,Christmas oranges, and unwrap little gifts like lip gloss, nail polish, crayons and little, plastic toys from the 5 and dime.I just love Christmas.

One year I ended up in the hospital ER. I am allergic to those oranges and could only eat one.My lips swelled up, had hives and I got really wheezy, so my brother woke up my Mom.I had to get a needle and was crying because I didn't eat any oranges yet.

It finally was discovered that Mom had put some angel hair tree decoration on the tree.I was touching it and must have touched my face, cause I was a mess! I never got an orange that year, it disappeaared from my stocking.hmmmm...

Christmas is about who you're with, and not what you get.I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas with those dear to you and that Santa is good to you.Santa was always the spirit of Christmas in our house growing up and it was baby Jesus's birthday we celebrated first.

That's all gone for me.

Thank you, Fidos...that was beautiful. I wish you a very blessed Christmas. So often we don't appreciate what we have when we have it until it's gone. Those hectic days preceding Christmas, with the frantic running around getting things done, trimming the tree, wrapping the presents, often feel overwhelming. When it no longer becomes part of our Christmas, we look back over those times, remembering what we had, thinking it really wasn't so bad and wanting those times back again. Therefore, it is so very important to take it all in now because sometime it may become just a memory.

Unfortunately for Kate, everything about Christmas for her is materialistic. She just doesn't get what it's all about. It's the times we live in, I'm afraid, when bigger and more is always better. I do feel sorry for her in that respect - that she just can't see beyond all the commercialism of the holiday.

fidosmommy said...

Yes, Warmth of the Sun, my Christmas wish for Kate is that she recognize the beauty in family, make her peace with whichever family member(s) she is estranged from, and make new memories with them if she needs to. Not only that, but allow her children the chance to make Christmas memories with all these people. I know how much it hurts to have it taken away by death. Others have it taken away by military service or missionary work. To have it taken away because of something far less than that? What a travesty.

hey jude said...

fidosmommy,

Thanks for that, it was beautiful.I am sorry you have lost so much and wish you every happiness this Christmas and New Year. I also wish you good memories for your Christmas this year. You are right, Christmas is in your heart.Bless you, hon.

My Mom always set an empty place at the table at Christmas and if any one had no family, they were invited for the meal.That place was always filled ,as we were in the Air Force and some could not go home if working.I do the same, and I offer you that empty seat this year in spirit.

fidosmommy said...

Thank you, hey jude. I accept the seat in spirit, and hope there is a taker in body, as well.

Christmas Eve has become rather interesting. First I go to a lovely dinner at the home of dear friends from church, then I go to church, then I go to the home of another dear friend who happens to be pagan. She fixes a light meal (soup) for the two of us, (a pagan and a presbyterian), a Mormon friend and some agnostics with no place to go and we enjoy, enjoy, enjoy the evening. Christmas may be a
Christian holy day, but it really fits everyone who is capable of genuine love.

I do think Jon has something to do with more specials, hence why Kate keeps saying hopefully. As in, maybe he will change his mind.

Since they have joint legal custody and the decision to film would fall under that, she would have to take him to court if he doesn't agree. Like hell Kate would spend her money on that, she would want TLC to. And like hell TLC would touch this issue with a 10 foot pole after the Blankinship fiasco. It is not worth their time, money and most of all their reputation to try to fight Jon in court again. It succeeded once, but this time, they know it will backfire. THey don't "need" Kate anymore, so this is not worth it to them, they can make money off other families. And as we tried to warn her ages ago, as soon as TLC doesn't need her anymore they'll be running for the hills never to look back. Don't even so much as expect a Christmas card from them saying nice known' ya. Yet another reason children have no business being involved in this business--it's cutthroat, and very, very cold.

dogsandkids said...

Sometimes Christmas is about getting good news and not getting any "thing."-too bad Kate doesn't know this. I just came back from visiting my husband in the hospital-his 3rd hospitalization in 6 weeks. Tonight the doctor told us that my honey has "a lot of miles" left in him and that what he has is fixable. There is not a thing in the world that is better than hearing that. I came home and hugged our son and told him the news-it never gets better than that!

Katie Cry-duh said...

Don't see any reason for TLC to Jon to court. Hell they shouldn't have the first time. Karma is wonderful however. They thought they had the golden goose with Kate and the kids but all they had was a demanding, expensive gorilla and people were sick of her two minutes after their one blockbuster show. Why fight to keep airing specials when the ratings are crap and they have to fork out big bucks to travel? Jon needs to hold his ground. Kate's incessant tweeting demeaning him indicate that finally he has her by the balls.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

In the end, Kate only hurt herself with her behavior.

Had she COMPROMISED with Jon and kept the filming in the U.S. and limited the amount of episodes and sure as heck didn't take them from him on his custody time to film, Jon might have ben satisfied that more filming was okay and allowed specials to continue for years. Kate had to get greedy though and work the kids to death and screw him over and royally tick him off, and now he's dug his feet in. And now, she's screwed, because no one is willing to go to court to fight her battles anymore. It's over.

No means no this time, Kate.

What is there in the gosselin household that would make for an interesting holiday special? The kids are less of a draw because they are all at less cutesy ages, show no 'special' talents, and don't really display much personality and just seem to 'act out'.
WHY would the kids have played with the nativity in the first place? It is a religious icon rather than a plaything. And we all know SHE bought 3 baby Jesus dolls and probably told the boys that represents them.
WHY does Coupon Cabin still have her on their website? WHAT does her 'personal' blog crap do for saving people money? We don't CARE about her personal life when it comes to OUR shopping habits.
Can she EVER do any type blog that doesn't have to get turned around to her life?

I guess they might have heard it at Jodi's or his mom's too or from Jon.Never mind voting, I am hoping they have heard it and someone explains what Christmas is really about, Christ's birth in our house, but all faiths have their beliefs and customs.

99% of the time, children love, respect and play nice to their abusers.

First of all, this is all they know in a mother. They don't know what else to do with her but love her like a child is programming to love his mother. Second of all, a child doesn't want to set their abuser off and make it even worse. Children will appease and indulge abusers until they are 18 years old to save themselves grief.

Frankly, I find the endless fawning and happy happy joy joy she says the kids have for her far more indicative of something very, very off than anything else I've ever heard or seen about the family.

I've noticed a tendency on this and other sites to put Jon on a pedestal. Now don't get me wrong, Jon seems like a nice guy overall and I think he tries to be the best parent he knows how to be, just like the rest of us.

However, Jon is human. We don't really know how spiritual a person Jon is or what faith he may profess at this point in time and in the end it's his own personal business. Jon and Kate may both shy away from the religious foundation behind Christmas. I wouldn't assume just because Kate does or doesn't do something, Jon automatically does the opposite to balance her out or be the good cop to her bad cop.

I guess my point is simply to cut the man some slack. In the disapproval over Kate's parenting, don't assume that Jon gets it right 100% of the time. He is a regular, mediocre man like the rest of us and he probably has his good days as a parent and his bad days.

hey jude -- "Fantasia". At least, that's what I flashed on when I read susantoyota's post. The hippo ballet, not a gorilla.

I imagine Cara and Mady know the story of Christmas. The younger kids -- IDK. I agree, 3 Baby Jesus images is ridiculous. A Creche is a sacred object, not a plaything.

This does remind me of a story, though. Hope I don't offend anyone. I gave up on Christmas trees a long time ago. My cat(s) were constantly knocking them over. I even bought one of those half trees that you hang on the wall, and after I plucked my 17# neuter out of the middle of it for the 3rd time, gave up and took it down. Now, I set up a wax village, complete with carolers and Santa on top of my bookcases, and a creche on top of my entertainment center. Two years ago, Baby Jesus disappeared. I knew which cat was the culprit, but I couldn't find Him to save my life. Six months later, when I moved my very heavy hide-a-bed sofa, I found Him under the farthest corner. I have no idea how He got there, because there's only about 1/2" clearance between the bottom of the sofa and the floor, but I was relieved that I didn't have to go looking for another Baby Jesus to include in my creche.

That may be the hippo in Madagascar, so cute the way the butt actually jiggles when she turns around and shakes it. Detail.

I looked at the baby Jesus setup. She did that, where would the kids have gotten 2 identical baby Jesus figurines to add or if they would even have had the time in the madhouse that it must be there in the mornings. No Jesus was not a multiple. There was and always will be only ONE Jesus. Not funny or cute. She doesn't teach her kids anything, but this one I don't believe.

I too think she keeps wanting the kids to lay another golden egg, like Hannah pooped, I can't see sheep, and Hi?, Hi Mommy?, her own child didn't recognize her. The cucumber thing - no words for that one.

We all know that kids are special - we don't need constant reminders that hers are more special than others. They just have it a lot harder than many, in spite of the mountains of present that will supposedly take not hours but days to wrap. Yeah - right - okay - we know.

I don't remember many Christmas gift I got as a child. My mother tooks lots of pictures, and I can find out that way. I'm an adult now. My parents and I just watched a DVD a cousin made. We watch every year before Christmas. When my great grandmother was alive, her children and grandchildren would visit for a Christmas get together. The cousin would film with a video camera, and he made DVDs for the family.

Seeing the DVD with people who have passed on is a great reminder of the good times we had. The great grandmother has passed away along with my grandmother, aunts, and uncles, and to see them on the DVD is a beautiful thing. The little cousins on the DVD are now grown with their own children. Kate may think she has the family memories on DVD, but they are fake and contrived.

OT: Today I watched an old movie I really liked, Yours, Mine and Ours. Lucille Ball (Helen) has 8 kids and Henry Fonda (Frank) has 10 kids. I couldn’t help but think of Kate during some scenes. First, Helen is on a date with a doctor. She tells him she has 8 kids (yes, count them…8!) The doctor then excuses himself and ditches her at the restaurant (8 kids will scare a lot of men off).

Frank and Helen are getting married. Their kids are not thrilled about the wedding. During the ceremony one boy is concerned that all the photographers outside will plaster their pictures across newspapers and tv, one boy said they won’t be a family, they will be a freak show and one of the girls is concerned about the teasing from kids at school (these kids are aware that all this attention will ruin their lives). After the ceremony, one of the young boys starts to get sick. Frank and Helen postpone their honeymoon to stay and take care of a sick child (how about that…..parents putting their kids first).
Cute movie. Starts out like Kate Plus 8 but morphs into 18 Kids and Counting.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that he was raised Catholic. IDK if that is true or not. If it is, even if he no longer practices his faith, I imagine his mother tries (or tried) to instill some of the spiritual aspect of Christmas into her grandchildren. The twins, at the very least.

I realized the kids did go to church and on one episode about Christmas, when they were making cookies to give to people and singing carols, that they did know the real story after all probably. Hope I didn't cause anyone any grief over my story-telling. Some days the right words escape me.

Speaking of triplets in the manger,

My church growing up had a great tradition. The Manger always started out empty at the beginning of Advent. Mary, Joseph, and, the wise men would be placed in the back of the church. The children would move everyone closer to the manger each week during the children's sermon. It was a great way to get the children involved in the story. Jesus would appear in the manager on christmas day. The children would do something special before putting him in the manager. It was always special. Many families also did the same thing at home. It took the place of an advent calendar.

Having triplet Jesus tells me that the children dont know the true meaning of christmas. Kate has not spent enough time reading the christmas bible passages to the children. They would not need to have triplets in the manager if Kate took the time to teach them.

You might be right, Fantasia? IDK anymore, I have visions of dancing hippos in my head now and gorillas.

Excuse my ignorance of cats, but what does a # 17 neuter mean; you have 17 cats? I know horses and dogs, allergic to lovable but furry cats.

I agree, Kate does not teach the kids respect for anything, and why she would think having 3 baby Jesus's is cute? She is demented, she bought them and the kids probably are afraid to touch anything of hers for fear of her wrath.

Gaaa, stop grifting. If you want to go to the UK, watch Orbitz, look for good deals, save up your money and book a damn flight yourself. I dont remember too many gifts from the holidays either, but I do remember Santa!! It was all about Santa,and cookies for Santa, and the elves and the North Pole until one year, I realized my family didn't have a fire place- I was horrified- how would Santa deliver the gifts? My mom told me not to worry, Santa would get in the house. Thanks, Mom :) And then she proceeded to explain to me (because at this point I was doubting the whole Santa thing) that Santa lived a long time ago and now his spirit lives on. She was so sweet to try and save the holidays for us kids. To this day, and I have a 19 year old child of my own, she still labels my presents as "from Santa"--
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Pinocchio has no idea how many gifts she has bought for 8 kids but says it will all even up under the tree. Eh, who effing believes her anymore. Ms.Organized does not keep a list? - and I will bet a lot that the kids pretty much get the same things, only gender specific. She makes it sound like she's wrapping 100's of gifts rather than what, maybe 6-8 each? And this is taking hours,and hours, and days and days. Seriously? And if they are being gifted that much excess,what a frivolous waste, and frankly, how embarrassing to brag about it. She needs a reality check for sure.

Anonymous said...

Why is wrapping so stressful??? Holy crap what a drama queen. We have volunteers here on our base that wrap gifts for us military for free. They do it for hours, everyday. No complaining. Wrapping is fun. The very least it's a chore- but it's NOT a stressful activity.

hey jude said...

I can't believe Kate is complaining about the gifts she has to wrap, she does have a week left.I am feeling embarassed for her, does she not realize these tweeters believe her crap?

Last week she had one gift only for them ,did she win the lottery or did 'toys r us' decide to sponsor her sorry butt? I want to hurl right now, ungrateful turd.The kids can't be bought so easily Kate. Too bad she can't listen in to her kids' hearts and hear their desperate need for a mother to just love them, unconditionally.

I feel so bad for them, having to walk on eggshells and raise their own mother.The authorities need to do something or Jon, if he can do anything to prove her an unfit parent.I just can't imagine a kid trying to keep on her good side, she's acting bi-polar right now. Scarey....

Surely you - all of you, realize that she does not "do" reality.

There is no "there" there. She is a bottomless pit of need, which she feeds herself to prompt others to chime in. Sadly, this includes her kids ("thank you mommy").

Silimon @83...I've noticed a tendency on this and other sites to put Jon on a pedestal. Now don't get me wrong, Jon seems like a nice guy overall and I think he tries to be the best parent he knows how to be, just like the rest of us.

However, Jon is human.

Sorry if some of this has been posted, but I looked at the tweets and put a lot of it together, so I just wanted to post it all here.

I already posted all the tweets from yesterday and today about the excessive amount of presents, and Khate complaining repeatedly about gift wrapping.

Now, here are the tweets about sheeple gifts (including the ones that I posted somewhere here last week):

Then, yet another sheeple wanting to send Christmas gifts tweeted. Khate didn't tell her to DM Barb Gilmer this time, so perhaps Barb quit her thankless, unpaid job:

@Kateplusmy8 Christmas presents are in the Post now :D. Winging their way to you as we tweet :) let me know when you get them :) xx
December 9th, 2:39 PM

That makes four teens in just one day tweeting about sending Khate and the kids Christmas gifts.

After tweeting Khate that she shipped out Christmas presents to her, Ellie, (the 17 year old sheeple in England) then tweeted Maggie, the 10 year old girl in England who had sent the twins birthday gifts. She's the one who had to tweet Khate over and over again, asking Khate if she ever received the package. Then, Khate finally replied they had it, and I think this is the girl that she said the twins then emailed.

So, Ellie tweeted Maggie to tell her how much the shipping cost her (over $23!):

Why is she going on and on and on about all of these gifts and rolls and rolls and rolls of wrapping paper? I have never in my life seen such a bragger. She is out of her mind! What is she trying to prove? That she is not destitute...that she is still a celebrity...that the kids will love her much more than they love Jon because she can afford to buy them presents? Or, just to get us talking.

Her responses to Milo -- yes, she had better stop the poking and teasing. That's one of the worst things you can do to a fan who is a real nutcase. This just isn't going to have a good ending. Something's gotta give.

Marie said...

I think if Kate didn't make her life seem ever-so-dramatic she'd have nothing to say. Ever notice she's never actually happy? If she's able to afford her children gifts she complains about having to wrap them, if people send gifts she complains about having to constantly stretch her money to provide for 8 kids. What a hassle it is to provide for 8 kids, oh she has to pay bills, oh she has so much to do in a day. BS!

Is she was happy she wouldn't need to complain this much. She will never be happy and she knows it. She will never be happy because she is so consumed with getting what she can get from whomever and the second she loses interest with what she has I see her hand out saying, "What else you got?"

Just truly frightening. Could get worse as she gets older especially as her kids get older and have opinions, even heck, talk back to her, tell her no or refuse to praise her or much less say thank you as she says they all do. I'm just not buying it anymore not that I ever really did.

I felt something was wrong with Kate from the first special. She relied on Jon to much was the thing. When she said "daddy's the bath giver, I wait for Jon to come home so he can take over." It just struck me as wrong and really weird. Went on an on about them being healthy "normal" kids. But complained that one son had to hve glasses like it was just the end of the world. Truly pathetic. Kate needs so much help it's almost unreal.

Dmasy said...

OK...I figured out the wrapping mania. Wrap, sip. Fold, tuck, sip. Tear tape, sip. Tie bow, sip. Untie bow, sip. Re-tie bow neater, sip. One done. Sip, sip. You get the procedure.

Kate is forever gunning Jon down, but I still think he was in it for the long haul and would have stayed with her, show or no show. He caught the fame bug too and money and instant fame or notoriety changes how people think. They were both mezmorized by it all and it couldn't have hurt the family more.

Kids need both parents if they can,especially multiples.They're both guilty of thinking money would cure their problems, but it incurred worse problems.

I just remembered that Kate made Jon quit his job, because she couldn't hack looking after the kids, even with the nurse helper and all the other volunteers. Who the heck was going to support them- the show? Kate lied through her teeth back then, too.

I remember her saying on an early show, the day they had all the babies at home, that her and Jon could feed the babies themselves.They didn't need all the volunteers and help coming in and they tried it and Kate said they did just fine.She thought we didn't know about the help and was in to bragging way back then.She's been delusional for a long time.

The other thing that bugs me is that she filed for divorce, but Jon got all the flak for it? Why? She had Steve back then on the road with her, but Jon was killed in the tabloids and on tv. It doesn't compute with me.

I have got to get back into couponing. I shopped the garage sales this past summer for kid's holiday clothes and the Target clearance for kid's undies and socks every payday for the children served by my agency, but could do more. Sadly, Katie Irene is too busy twitting about all the presents she has to wrap and how hard she has it to even think about following thru with her statement re: the Gosselins giving back made during the food pantry episode.

I'm going to make the next prediction. Since she and her little Stevieboy read here and she is being called out on her MATERIALISM (look it up in that big book called a dictionary, Katie Irene) which goes against her CHRISTIAN beliefs (another big book, usually says Bible on it), she will soon start twittering about her charity contributions.

Narcissistic bitch.

Are teens now so smitten by this kind of person, just because they have a reality show or had one.....Our young people do not need much to impress them, and these are the next generation to take over? God help us.........

Does anyone ever remember what they got for Christmas as a child? I mean a few thing stick out, but most of it is a blur.
-----------------------------------------

Actually, I do remember much of it, because there was so little of it. We each got an orange and some nuts every Christmas. That was the only orange we would have all year. One year I got a doll and cradle, and one year a wonderful doll house. Gifts were few and far between, and so each was so treasured and loved. A very sad memory is of my two older sisters each getting a white handerchief one year. That was their only gift. I have never forgotten that. Santa was a real stinker that year.

#127 I thought the same thing about those tweets. And they come non stop, all day, every day. She wants to know how much gas in the new BBB cost, tells other tweeters maybe the show cancellation was mutual (HA), asks about and comments on Jon's finances, ask how many presents per kid, tweets a photo of a caterpillar for alexis. I can't even repeat the 100's of ass kissing posts.

On and on it goes. The other poster here nailed it when they said even if your best friend tweeted you that often you would be skeeved. There is great health in balance and moderation!

I'm not a big twitter person but I have yet to hear of other celebs giving out their address for gifts. It's embarassing, bizarre, uncouth, greedy, classless and grifting to the extreme.

Just because someone wants to mail you a present does not mean you have to say..here is my address. Beyond security issues, it just sends the wrong message to take from people less fortunate from you under the guise of pretending to be struggling. It really is fraud.

Weird about the not opening some of the gifts until Christmas from fans. What if its a box of dildos or something from a nutcase? Are you really gonna let your kids open gifts from fans on XMAS morning with NO IDEA what is in the box? GMAB.

hey jude 102 -- No, I don't have 17 cats. At the time, I had 4. I'm down to 1 now. Anyway - 17# neuter -- a neuter is a male cat who has had his boy parts removed. AKA an alter. 17# -- he was a very large cat, and weighed 17#.

You can also order crumpets from Disney World -- they sell them in the Great Britain Pavilion at Epcot. Or, at least they did a few years ago. Actually, any shop that specializes in teas would have them. I get them occasionally at the tea/coffee specialty shop in my town.

Anon EM,

I don't think Kate waits to open gifts, she's too nosy and selfish.There might be cash in there, or something she wants.Can't be giving her kid a good present she might like.

I remember a lot of Christmases and the gifts I got, cause the good ones were really good and weren't that often.I remember good food at others' houses, my mom was great, but not so much in to cooking from scratch.

I remember light pink lipstick and perfume from Avon, a diary every year from my uncle, a dollhouse my Dad built with real lights, pink plastic high heels, a crunchy blue crinoline with a stuffed blue pooodle hiding under it, a 45 record and box to keep them in, new green transister radio and Golden books galore.Also, Trixie Beldon and Nancy Drew books.I think I must have been spoiled!

She's on "wrapping strike?" Okay...how weird.

You know Christmas isn't about getting as much loot as you can it's about learning to be appreciative and grateful for what you are given and learn that Christmas is more than about gifts. It's about that special feeling, that special time be you religious or not. It's about the smells, the memories.

To bad I don't think Kate will ever see it this way, and if she doesn't I wonder if her kids ever will.

I can get crumpets here in Dallas. Not only that, I can make them. Shove that in your pipe and smoke it, Kate. She's so dumb.

But this wrapping for a week thing intrigues me. Let's say she bought/grifted ten presents per kid. That's 80 gifts. Supposedly, according to Twitter, she spent about 5-6 hours wrapping today, but she says she will be wrapping for the next week, up to and including Christmas Eve.

How long would it take you to wrap 80 gifts? Or let's say it really will take her a week and my number of gifts per kid is way too low. How many freaking gifts IS that???

I can't help but think she's definitely trying to be the "Disney" parent in the divorce situation: the one who tries to wow and impress the kids with material and over the top things.

If so, I've got a secret for her: kids don't care about that and see right through it.

Guess what I did today!

I wrapped presents, did yoga, baked and wrapped more presents!!! Aren't I just the bomb?

Well, I didn't exactly do yoga or bake. But I did wrap 22 gifts in about 3 hours. It doesn't take me all day, nor a week, and I didn't have to go on strike either. And not once did I whine about it on Twitter ( cause I'm not ON Twitter. I have more important things to do ).

Seriously, I'm ready to slap her silly with all this gift gluttony and wrapping whining she's been doing. She acts like Christmas is a hassle and makes her miserable but she sacrifices herself to make her kids happy. Because a)they are the best kids in the whooooole wide world, and b) she is the world's greatest mother.

Does she want a medal for doing Christmas for her children? My god, she acts like she's the only person on the planet with a bunch of kids.

So many of you have made me smile with your Christmas memories. I recognize many things: Bonne Belle lipgloss (especially the big fat ones), Trixie Belden books, transistor radio.....such sweet memories. We got one small gift from our parents and one gift from Santa (I was the oldest so got Santa for a long time!). I remember one year, they had little dolls called Dawn dolls. They were like tiny Barbies. I got a few 'cards' of clothing outfits. I loved this one but didn't open it up. It was a tiny little mink stole and formal dress and itty bitty shoes. It disappeared. I am sure it accidentally got thrown in the fire. I still mourn that little outfit, 40 years later, LOL! My grandma had dozens of grandkids, but managed to get something for each. She might crochet each girl a headband to keep their ears warm, or go through the $.99 pages of the Lillian Vernon catalog and buy each kid a small gift. Remember that catalog and those pages? Big smiles here as I do.

My mom was a lot like Kate, although not materialistic as we scraped by. She did think of her own needs first though and was always me me me. Still is. I think that's why Kate bugs me so much. Well, I have the sweetest husband. For my last birthday, he called and said he had something but didn't want me to see it. Advised me to wait inside until he called me to the porch. I was a little scared! Finally, I did and there was a huge box and he handed me a card that said, "I can't give you a do-over, but I hope this heals your 10-year-old heart." I opened the flap of the box and saw a beanbag chair in there and burst into tears. It was the chair that my mom not only refused to buy me, but wouldn't let me buy with my own money, because it would ruin 'her' house. I sat in that chair and wept all evening.

My dad died 5 years ago and doesn't have a headstone. It bothers me, but we were not on good terms and I'll never go back there, so didn't really pursue one. We work with an organization that builds orphanages in India. He came home one day and said we needed to talk. He handed me a picture - it was a giant plaque with my dad's picture and name on it, along with one of my favorite Bible verses. Under it stood many children who would live in this orphanage - which my husband dedicated to the memory of my father. I wondered if anyone ever visited his grave, and now hundreds of children will pass by his 'headstone' every day. I can't even type this without crying. It is the most beautiful, selfless thing anyone has ever done for me.

This is how normal people are. Loving and thoughtful, wanting to please the one they love. Not everyone can fund orphanages, but the beanbag chair was right up there. Tonight we went with our aunt/uncle to the Nutcracker and to dinner. I felt choked up the whole night. Sure, sweet childhood memories are wonderful, but the 'stuff' of life is love and being surrounded by those you cherish and who cherish you back.

I remember the Dawn dolls! I had completely forgotten about those.

My most memorable Christmas was when I was 13. My dog, Bo, came to my bedroom and woke me up. Dad then let him out to do his business and he wandered into the street and was run over. I was so heartbroken. My mom and dad had scrimped and saved to get us children what we wanted that year. I got a pair of very stylish 1973 pants, a pair of saddle oxfords and an 8-track tape player. Even though these were the presents that I longed for, I just couldn't enjoy that Christmas because of Bo.

hey jude - Thanks for bringing back some of my childhood memories! I remember those plastic high heels, and I loved Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew books.

I didn't get a lot of presents when I was a kid, but I remember one year my sister and I got the Littlechap family of dolls (father, John; mother, Lisa, who had a giant beehive hairdo; and sisters Judy and Libby). They were similar in size to Barbie dolls, but they were made of really hard plastic. They were actually kind of creepy looking. And the mom and sisters were dressed in little striped terry cloth towels. Weird, but we played with them all the time because we liked that it was a whole family.

----------------------

I think you are absolutely right, (oh, Hi Khate, btw, you are a useless bitch in case you didn't already know that). Between all the comments here, and the bashing she has taken on Twitter, she's going to tweet (or blog) any minute about some wonderful charitable act she's done.

I wonder how much those people enjoyed getting mini loaves and tiny bite size loaves of banana bread, zucchini bread, etc. Wouldn't you just love to have that "gift" from a nasty person like Khate who complained bitterly and repeatedly about how much she hates baking? Oh yeah, made with love.....not quite.

I have a cousin who's a terrific baker. For over twenty years, she and her next door neighbor have baked every kind of cookie under the sun. They make dozens and dozens of cookies together for weeks, starting right after Thanksgiving. They love it, it's their favorite time of year and favorite thing to do with each other. They give all their friends and family beautiful tins and platters with a complete assortment that is just delicious. We ALL look forward so much to that gift every year. It would not be Christmas without her cookies. We all know she puts so much time, effort and LOVE into it, that we'd take that any day over any other gift she could ever buy us. She's the best, she really is.

I would never ever want some crappy banana or zucchini bread baked by Kate who seems to RESENT doing it, as she resents and complains about EVERYTHING.

Btw, I am calling BULLSHIT on her tweeting about the over abundance of gifts. Just like everything else, she is full of crap. I "honestly" don't think she has "truckloads" of gifts per kid. She just likes to complain for days about things and EXAGGERATE tremendously. Yada, yada, yada, I jarred 96 bushels of tomatoes, I baked 728 cookies, I made 324 loaves of bread, I bought each kid 42 gifts. Yeah, right, whatever. Stick a sock in it, bitch.

*WHY does she need an anonymous sheeple to "keep reminding" her about it? Can't she just go the website and register? Of course, she will never do it on her own, like a regular runner. She needs to register by herself and just go there like a regular runner without an escort to the starting line, a bike guy following her, two hired "friends" to pace her, a boobyguard/purseboy who probably tagged alongside with cold water bottles and gels in his back pack (or his pink purse), cameras and film crew at the finishing line, an entourage at the finishing line, and a golf cart waiting at the end to whisk her back to her hotel so she doesn't have to be crushed in the crowds and spend hours getting back to her hotel (as we've read many others had to do in that night's mess).

Like who needs her to blog about Yoga for Runners? It's NOT as if she is a real runner or expert on running or yoga.

How can a person be so ignorant they cannot see how HURTFUL it is to brag on and on ad nauseum about having to wrap gifts for her kids for a week straight all day and into the night when some families won't be having any Christmas gifts to speak of? What on earth can she be buying eight (yeah, yeah, yeah, count 'em, 8) kids that could possibly take that long to wrap?

Love the pics of her Motel 8 (I'm so clever) bedroom coffee station. It looks like a real mess considering she is Ms. Organizational Clean Freak (heavy on the freak). And I agree 1000% if she has a fridge in her room it is for her wine boxes.

She used to come across as disgusting in my opinion. Now, she has risen to pathetic (still a way to go to reach mediocre). I hope she doesn't seriously hurt herself when she falls off her high horse.

Today is my family's Christmas celebration. 7 siblings (from 3 states) will converge at baby sister's home. We will have nieces, nephews and their small children with us. We will be a group in excess of 50!

I got up really early to complete the finishing touches on the food that will be my portion. A few days ago, I wrapped the gifts we are taking. (We draw names in a gift exchange.)

Hubby and I will drive through a light dusting of snow.

I would not whine one moment about any of these preparations. They are a delightful part of the holiday.

All of you have provoked wonderful memories from past Christmas seasons. I had an Aunt who bought me one Nancy Drew book every year. They cost 99 cents back in that day. The hardback covers were a dark blue. I remember Grandma giving me some bobby socks that rolled into a thick cuff around my skinny little ankles. I thought I looked so stylish for Midnight mass.

I am impressed with the giving spirit of so many posts here. Each of you have a wonderful holiday (with just one baby Jesus!) Thank you.

Thanks for all the holiday memories. I remember taking the bus to a department store with my siblings and buying my dad Aqua Velvet aftershave and the Lifesaver books. That man had to have a lifetime supply of those items because there are 6 of us.

Gram would hit the Harriet Carter catalog and buy each of her 26(!) grand kids something. Some years it was pencils with our names gold etched on them. I loved those pencils because there are few items with my name on them and they meant so much because they were just for me.

Now I'm the proud auntie of 11 and great auntie of 9(!) so the fun begins again.

Now for a somber note. My gram died on Christmas morning so just hearing "Silent Night" makes me weep for her loss and it's been 25 years. This year my newest great niece (8 weeks old now) had to have major open heart surgery and I know that gram was in heaven watching over Nora and helping her recovery.

When I was 5 or 6 my Grandma gave us girls each a bear pin from Avon. The belly flipped open like a locket and inside was perfume you could rub onto yourself. Amazing how I still remember that bear pin and how awesome it was!

I remember getting a little bottle of 'Wishing' perfume from Avon.It was in a clear round bottle with a gold horseshoe? around it's neck.I have never seen it since- loved that smell.

I also had a puffy down ski jacket and black stretchy pants with a strap on the foot that snapped under your boot or skates.We wore our turtleneck sweaters and thought we were cool.

The funniest Christmas we had when my kids were little, was when my oldest of 3 girls was around 4,middle was 2 1/2 and baby was maybe 6 months. She had taken off most of the nametags and all the bows on the presents and stuck the bows on her sisters heads!Said 'look mom, so pwetty !

That was quite the gift opening, but the girls enjoyed it just as much. The books and puzzles were for all their ages and the clothes went to whoever they fit best. My dh got fluffy pink slippers and I got a drill of some kind.The girls all got a doll or stuffed animal and we were all happy.

Someone mentioned that they videotaped , we did too, all special occasions.My Mom is in a lot of them and I haven't watched those tapes since she passed away in 2006. I may take them out and watch this year, but I miss her so much ,it may not be the best idea.Any thoughts?

We wrote in the thank-you notes and told everyone what happened with the nametags.I notice that that is one thing people don't do much anymore, it's easier to e-mail or phone/text.

Two thoughts:

It seems Kate is digging deep to fill her personal blog. The 'funny' things her kids say are really not...like Mady's 'egg' remark and Collin/Aaden's 'cucumber' story? If she has to try so hard, what on earth will she talk about for coupon cabin? After-Xmas sales- after all the stuff she bought, what can she say is needed or she used a coupon for? Maybe her New Year's plans?

Second- I am really sickened by her number of gifts for her Golden Platter kids- they are going to be really spoiled. I wonder how their peers view all this; surely a parent or two makes the odd remark that is overheard. WHY won't she ask the twitter 'friends' to give to charity 'in her honor' if need be instead of sending more junk? And I agree, not many write personal thank-yous nowadays,although I insist my kids do...I can't imagine her children doing so unless they send photos with a hint to pay back $20 each! OY.

It has been fun and heartwarming to read everyone's memories of Christmases Past. A few years ago my little niece said, "Man! Jesus is lucky!" Her daddy asked her why she thought that, and she said, "Because his birthday is on Christmas!" She will never live that cute comment down! lol

So fun to read Christmas memories. I'd forgotten the white lipstick, and the white go-go boots.

We were pretty poor growing up, there were no extras during the year, and sometimes not the basics. But mom and dad sure did a bang up job for Christmas.

There wasn't a lot of stuff but they clearly had put a lot of thought into what we got. Church was always first, then mom would get us kids out of the car while dad snuck in the back door to yell hohoho! And mom would say did you hear that?! We just missed Santa!

We kids would be allowed to enter the house and there would be dad grinning at us saying "I just saw Santa go up the chimney!"

Gosh, they always did a nice Santa job. Nothing wrapped, all laid out nicely. Nothing extravagant. Santa sure had a way of knowing just what you wanted.

Then dad would cook bacon and eggs. Yum! Then we would open presents. Dad would pass them out one at a time. These were simple things, usually needed basics like socks. Mom always gave me a fancy kleenex box. In those days the pretty box cost more. Far too extravagant for every day use!

Dad always got mom something meaningful. We kids just loved waiting to see what he'd gotten. One year he gave her a 3' high St. Francis that he had carved, to put in her garden.

She has most definitely crossed a line here, and this is one Gosselin story that deserves, for a change, some NATIONAL attention. NLAN has laid out above all the relevant evidence from her own tweets. She is one of the lowest scam artists of our time, and she needs to be exposed.

Oh, the yoga? It's what all the real celebrities do for exercise, and Kate is nothing if not a copycat. Wait for the DVD. She is so transparent.

171- I guess in Kate's feeble grifting mind, people are supposed to support her and her kids for life.
She was a born grifter from day one- need cribs, 14 passenger van, clothes, food, etc... This woman expects the gravy train to last forever, in spite of the fact, that she has made millions from the show, books, appearances, $20 case autographs, product endorsement, freebies....

Quite frankly, after 7 years as a grifter, who has done nothing to prove herself a supermom- hiring babysitters, when Jon did it on his own, I find Kate to be a repugnant, lazy, self-aborbed person, who puts her kids' needs second to herself, now that Jon is not around to parent. She really is a lazy selfish entitled grifter at this juncture, and should be encouraging her fans to donate to needy charities. Other than herself! When is enough excess enough? Hi Kate!

Red Sky At Night said...

How can Kate read the tweets from the lunatic fans and not see that they are crazy? Do you think she has red flags about any of them? If so, why would she keep engaging them as if they are intimate friends?

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

173- Because they keep sending her freebies. Once a grifter, always a grifter... she can't stop with the freebies, as she was doing this even prior to the tuplets being born. She is very entitled... don't you know? She expects people to assist her, as she is the ultimate in grifters, and based on recent tweets, Kate will NEVER understand that there are people more needy than herself. She has 8, count 'em 8 kids to raise! In spite of her millions!!!!

Gosselin8ComeFirst said...

Never mind selling kids' clothes she got for free in a consignment shop? Who sells clothes they got for free rather than donating them? KATE!!

No charity, as Kate is, was and always will be about Kate and the almighty dollar! Not a donation bone in her body... ALL about HER. Disgusting. Forgot to mention that she reportedly had people paying her utility and mortgage back in the day. Way to pay it forward Kate!

Red Sky At Night said...

173- Because they keep sending her freebies.

That could be part of it, but I'm not so sure it's all about the freebies. How much chocolate could she want? What kind of gifts are these - five dollar gift baskets from Walmart? It's obvious that these people cannot afford to send expensive gifts since many of them are kids. How many of these items actually end up in the trash? Does she keep them if they don't have a designer label on them, or does she re-gift them?

Once a Viewer said...

I would bet she re-gifts or saves till next time she needs a gift for a 'helper' But then the time she was re-organizing the basement she had no qualms about tossing items that could have gone to charity in the garbage ( toys etc)

Re: designer labels- I notice she has the kids in old Navy clothing/quickie haircuts a lot- while it is fine IMO, she dresses herself in high-end clothing and shoes/accessories & her hair, well...a snob for sure.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's also attention. AND she's mentally ill, and can't stop herself from acquiring every single freebie she can get her claws on. She has a very self-destructive, compulsive approach to the love tokens from the fans.

AND she's hoping for the big score. Maybe she throws out 90% of what get sent, but maybe that big ticket item will turn up.

Of course, 100 $25 gift cards are a good haul, too. Won't pay the rent, but will take care of a bunch of mani/pedis.

The amazing thing is that she's so rude about it. Gimmee, gimmee, gimmee, without any grace or courtesy at all. "Go to my website and I'll send you my address." Lazy unpleasant sod.

Kate is a bottomless pit unable to satisfied with anything. It's weird. The show would have gone on forever and ever if ratings were good, she will accept freebies forever and ever, she will run marathons until she drops, she will fry her hair until it falls off, she will spend and acquire more useless stuff until she's dead.

It must be awful to never feel satisfied or fulfilled or content about anything, to always want more, bigger, larger, more more more. To never just be able to relax, kick back and say with a contented smile, I have it all.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Also for instance with the person offering K cups would it kill her to at least say, before she hands over the address, Oh really you shouldn't have that is sooo nice of you but if you really want to!

Instead it was like FREEBIE??? Insert address! Bam, wham, thank you ma'am.

Quiet today in the land of the bottomless pit of dissatisfaction. Perhaps she is:

- passed out in the locked Xmas closet
- having paper cuts from ALL that wrappng treated at the E/R
- at church
- joyriding in one of her 3 new cars
- doing something nice for others
- see first two

me, I'm baking, having lunch with a friend, wrapping, more baking - have a nice day all.

Thanks to all for your Christmas memories.

I have one I'd like to share with you. One Christmas Eve I was putting my 4 yr. old niece to bed and reminded her that Christmas Day was baby Jesus' birthday. She looked at me quite startled and said, "OH, and we didn't even send Him a card".

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

By the way out of curiosity is she being grilled on twitter for accepting all these freebies and has she responded to anyone?

Cwgirlup75 said...

No tweets from the bimbo so far today. Steve must have stopped by to help her wrap stuff....or whatever.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Or, unwrap "stuff."

Cwgirlup75 said...

Yeah, I'm thinking unwrap "stuff" is more likely. *Shudder* Now I need brain cleanser to scrub *that* mental image away.

Hey Jude,

Your comment about watching your mom's videos touched a spot in my heart. I don't know if I have any suggestions, but I can share my story with you.

My mom died in 2002 and we had a tentative relationship. She died of COPD after years of smoking. She died using 15 liters of O2 (possible via tank O2 and liquid O2). The memories of her gasping make me tear up even now. I was so grateful when the hospice nurses finally gave her enough sedative and morphine that she could sleep.

It's been 9 years and I still cannot drive by her assisted living apts nor have I shopped at the mall across the street where she shopped with her "cripple cart and joy juice" (her labels for the scooter and O2 she used the final three years of her life). She retained her wry sense of humor to the end.

For me it hasn't gotten any easier. I keep waiting.

Based on my story, if I were in your shoes, I might wait a while longer before watching the videos.

On the other hand, for you it might be a healing experience. Everyone grieves so differently.

Like someone else on here, I am the only one left in my birth family. Brother and parents gone, inlaws gone..... we also do not put up tree since our DS moved across the country.

I have kept our ornaments, as someday I hope to be near enough to DS to celebrate with a tree again. Hope never dies! :-)

As for kart, I think 2012 will be the year she fades - there just isn't anything left of her to sell; she's become irreversably irrelevant.

I haven't posted before, but come here most everyday. The rest of you express my feelings about Kate so much better than I ever could. She is unbelievable, & I'm waiting & hoping for her to be called out on her behavior by the media. Poor kids, having to live with that woman!

I love to read about your Christmas memories - makes me think about my favorite one. It was during a very tight financial time in our family, so our Mom & Dad had to step in & make our gifts. I was about 5 at the time.

Under the tree that year was a baby buggy, made by my father. It was during the war & materials were hard to come by, so he made the handle & wheels out of wood. My mother had sewn & crocheted a complete layette for a baby doll I already owned.

It was an experience I'll never forget, I'm getting tears thinking about it even now, many many years later.

I want to thank Admin for keeping this site going, & also want to wish all of you a very happy time with your families this Christmas.

Thank you for letting us share our Christmas stories.

I grew up in England; we moved to the US when I was 12, so childhood memories are English with Father Christmas, not Santa!

Today, it's me, husband, 3 dogs and a cat. No kids. Christmas has always been my favorite time, and I thank my mother for that. She loves Christmas and it's been passed down to me. My husband's family always celebrated Christmas Eve, and we always did Christmas Day. We don't see his family any more (too long a story) so Christmas Eve has been pretty boring the last few years. But now I have people over and give them a Christmas. Two girlfriends lost their mom last year, and neither are married with children and their father died years ago. So last year I said "come on over" and now we have a Tradition!

It's so much fun now I have something to prepare for . . . buying Christmas gifts, even though it's just cheapy things to open, planning a menu, decorating the house, wrapping . . . I'm in heaven. And these two friends are the only Americans I know who actually LIKE Christmas pudding! They have a friend with nowhere to go this year, so he's coming over as well.

Yes, this is what Christmas is about. Doing things to make others happy and making yourself joyful as a result.

HO HO HO everybody!!

I wonder if other celebrities get as many offers of gifts or help...is it because she has asked in the past? Or pleaded 'poor' with bills in her purse YET she is magnanimous enough (ahem) to give Jon his, um, their BBB as he is the 'poor mediocre' one. Would the kids realize the gifts are from people they don't know? I think I would have found this creepy as a child. I wonder what they think of their celeb status or how they are treated at school.

Yes, a link to the article would be great please !

PS I love Xmas pudding too !! That's so nice for everyone what yo do.

Thanks so much. It did heal. Within a couple of days, Mom had gotten me Bo's nephew, Charlie, to love. :)

All this talk of dolls (and Christmas presents in general) got me thinking about the dolls I had when I was young. My mom wouldn't allow me to have Barbies because they had boobs - I'm serious! Instead I had Ginny dolls. Does any one else remember them? The were essentially a little girl Barbie, the doll was probably supposed to be 8 or 10 years old. Mine had long blonde hair and SO many outfits. I had 2 dolls and a doll trunk that opened up - there was a cubby on each side and a place to hang all the clothes. I loved those dolls so much!!

Another Christmas I got my first bike and my older brother got a dart board. My brother set his dart board up in the basement and I was riding my bike around in circles down there, as well. I bet you can guess what happened! My brother threw the dart and it landed right in my cheek! My mom had to pull it out. Fun times - LOL
~~~
Hey Jude,
I wouldn't watch those videos with your mom in them until you are ready to have a big cry. My best friend died, very suddenly, 18 months ago and I watched an old video tape of a camping trip - bad idea.
~~
PJ's Momma,
Your husband sounds so sweet. I love the bean bag chair story!
As for old kHatie, she should be ashamed of herself!
Kate is a twit said...
Just want to put out this thought.
If Kate never set up a twitter account or a blog, would she still be getting the adoration from her fans after the show was cancelled? In my opinion, she set up both, just to get attention, probably knowing the show was on it last leg. Most articles written about her are based on her twitter account or her blog.
To me, both on twitter and her blog, she comes across as someone who is trying to prove to herself(and others) that she is a wonderful person.
I do believe she is trying to pass herself off as someone she is not, just to get the sympathy and attention. Her fans feel so sorry for her-and she just eats it up.
I really think she believes in the "fantasy world" she has created.
She needs that attention and without it,
Admin @ 179 said "To never just be able to relax, kick back and say with a contented smile, I have it all."
The sad thing is that Kate really did have it all. She had a husband who adored her and was willing to do more than his fair share of the work; 8 healthy, beautiful children; a hit television show; enough money to not have to worry about bills, putting food on the table, and other mundane considerations; a beautiful house with plenty of acreage. Unfortunately, she has neither the wit nor the wisdom to recognize this. Instead, she needs more, more, more and doesn't understand why the void is never filled. Now she has nothing -- no family, no husband, no television show, no "career". She may still have the material things, but they don't matter without the love, support and respect of her family and peers.
bearswife -- I remember Ginny. She was the last doll I ever got. I had the trunk too. Mom made some clothes for her and I made a few, although my sewing skills leave a lot to be desired. I tried to knit a few things for her, but there weren't any patterns available and I wasn't too successful at making them up. When my mother died, and I was going through her things, I found my old Ginny doll. Mom must have been saving it for the granddaughter who never came. I still have her, but I think I'm going to give her to my cousin's granddaughter. A doll needs a little girl to love and care for her, not a shelf where she'll get dusty or, maybe, be knocked down and chewed on by an adventurous cat LOL.
for the cat lovers, last night/early this morning I hear a huge crashing sound. Since my hubby was home, I didn't get up to find out what it was, pretty much knowing it was my Miss Oreo attacking at least 1 Christmas decoration. Well, when I got up today, I found the garland/stocking holders/stockings/string of lights from our mantel all over the living room. She not only knocked it down, but then picked it apart and played with what she wanted. Within minutes of putting it all back up & making it look nice, I find Miss Oreo right back on the mantel trying to pull out a stick of berries.
I also have 2 Christmas's that I clearly remember. The one when I was 7 and has what I call a "Barbie Christmas". I got the Barbie RV, a box of Barbie clothes, the Barbie horse, and 2 new Barbies. I was so happy I couldn't see straight. The next one was when I was 16 & it was our first Christmas after my mom left the Step Monster/dad. There was no money, we drew a tree on butcher paper, colored it in with crayons, hung it on the wall & decorated it with real decorations by putting the hooks thru the paper. I was 16, my brothers were 8 & 5. Mom sat me down & asked me if I would be okay that she spent what little money she had on them. I knew how rough everything had been, we had been out on our own for only 2 months, so while both of us are crying, I told her that of course it was okay. I was old enough to "get it". My mom was not one to tell anyone about it or to borrow money from family for gifts. Somehow word got out & my grandparents (brothers & I have different dads) showed up Christmas morning with more presents than we had ever seen. They didn't have to buy my brothers or my mom gifts, but they did & they went over the top for everyone. After opening presents, they took us out to dinner. It was actually our 2nd holiday meal in a row eaten at a Luby's cafeteria, we spent our Thanksgiving that year in one. Unknown to me until years later, before they left, they handed my mom a check for $500. She tried to refuse it & my gramma told her that she had to take it because it was a gift & it would be rude to turn it down (mom said she used gramma guilt & made them both cry). I get teary eyed thinking about it now. When I was an adult, I never forgot how my grandparents thought beyond just me & included my brothers when technically, they didn't have to. And how MY grandparents found out is still a mystery. Mom & I say that Santa made sure we were all taken care of that year.
So...what exactly is her "career" these days? I am going to assume that most people her age by now know what their career in life is and work at it. Is she still siting around wondering what her "career" move will be? Good luck waiting for a career to fall out of the sky a second time. But I will never consider a reality TV show a career.
I never understood why they quit their jobs to "work" at living life on camera. I would love somebody to ask her that one. I don't care if the pay was better still giving up normal life to become a monkey show...should have never been worth that.
The longer Kate waits to accept reality, learns to possibly downsize and all that, the worse off she is going to be in the future. I don't see people hiring 36 year olds in the entertainment field. Mostly young people and or if you're lucky say like Bettty White to have that type of experience. Kate is pretty much going to be on the other side of the red ropes from now on even if she waits and bids he time to see what's next I don't see TLC or any other company calling her.
Truth is though I wonder will she be able to function at a normal 9-5 mediocre job when it finally comes down to it?
